Alexa Bliss Talks Ronda Rousey Joining WWE, Reflects On Her Main Roster Call Up

WWE RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss recently spoke with the Las Vegas Review Journal to promote the upcoming WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event that takes place on Sunday, February 25th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets.

At the event, former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey is set to sign her WWE contract.

“Nobody knew what was going on or that she was there,” Bliss said of Rousey’s Royal Rumble entrance. “She came out, and it was definitely a surprise, but I think it’s exciting that she comes to WWE because it brings a new fan base and a different dimension to WWE.

Also during this interview, Bliss reflected on being called up to the main roster to the SmackDown Live brand during the WWE Draft in 2016.

“When I was brought up to SmackDown, I was one of the underwhelming draft picks,” Bliss said. “I had to make the most out of every opportunity, because a lot of times on WWE, if you don’t deliver, those opportunities don’t come back.”

Early Betting Odds For Both WWE Elimination Chamber Matches

The early betting odds for both the men’s and women’s Elimination Chamber matches have been released.

On the flip side, Alexa Bliss will defend the RAW Women’s Championship in the women’s chamber match and is favored at -295 to successfully retain.

The Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, February 25th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. Seth Rollins Cuts Promo On Wanting WrestleMania 34 Main Event (Video), Gallows & Anderson Call Out The Revival (Video), Alexa Bliss

– WWE posted the following video of Seth Rollins cutting a great backstage promo to hype this weekend’s Elimination Chamber match. Rollins talked about originally not having a match for the pay-per-view (PPV) event, but now being a part of the biggest Elimination Chamber match of all time. He vowed to win the match, go on to WrestleMania 34, and slay “The Beast” – again – to win the Universal Title. Check it out:

– WWE has been teasing an upcoming feud between RAW Tag Team Champions The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro) against The Revival, perhaps for a title match at Elimination Chamber. WWE posted a backstage video of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson calling out The Revival, calling them a pair of “NERDS!” Could this lead to a title eliminator match between the two teams?

Alexa Bliss Not Happy With Raw Tag Match, 25th Anniversary Of Kerry Von Erich’s Death, Dana Warrior

– Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss is not happy with having to team with Absolution tomorrow night on Raw.

WWE announced earlier today that the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match participants will square off in a Six-Woman Tag Team Match this week on Raw as Bayley, Sasha Banks and Mickie James take on Bliss, Mandy Rose, and Sonya Deville. In this video from backstage at tonight’s WWE live event in Prescott, Arizona, Bliss expresses her displeasure with Raw General Manager Kurt Angle making her team with Rose and Deville.

She said, “Tomorrow, he’s making me tag with Absolution; two girls that I’m competing against. First off, how is that fair? It’s not. And second, how do I know they’re not going to try to take me out to get a competitive gain?”

– It was 25 years ago today when Kerry Von Erich, a one-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion and one-time WWF Intercontinental Champion, died.

On February 18, 1993, Von Erich committed suicide with a single gunshot to the heart with a .44 caliber pistol on his father’s ranch in Denton County, Texas. Earlier that week, a judge in Dallas issued an arrest warrant for Von Erich after he was charged with cocaine possession. Since he was on probation for a drug conviction in September 1992, this violation would have likely resulted in extensive jail time.

Kerry was the fourth of six brothers in his family to die in nine years and the fifth overall.

Possible Spoilers: Participants For First-Ever Women’s Elimination Chamber Match

Local advertisements may have revealed the participants for the first-ever Women’s Elimination Chamber Match.

As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Wells Fargo Center on the USA Network, Stephanie McMahon announced that the sports entertainment company would hold the first-ever Women’s Elimination Chamber Match next month.

WWE Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss will defend her title in the match against five opponents. The winner of this match will then face Asuka at WrestleMania 34.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there is local market advertising in Las Vegas that has Bliss, Nia Jax, Bayley, Sasha Banks, Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose competing in the Women’s Elimination Chamber. Keep in mind that the WWE has yet to officially announce these names for the match.

The Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, February 25th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

WWE Announces First-Ever Women’s Elimination Chamber Match

Stephanie McMahon kicked off this week’s week’s edition of Monday Night Raw with a major announcement. Next month, the RAW Women’s Championship will be on the line in the first-ever Women’s Elimination Chamber match.

Alexa Bliss will defend her title against 5 other competitors still to be determined.

The men’s Elimination Chamber match to determine Brock Lesnar’s WrestleMania opponent will also feature 6 competitors. Qualifying matches for that match will take place over the next two weeks.

WWE Elimination Chamber 2018 takes place on Sunday, February 25th from Las Vegas, Nevada at the T-Mobile Arena.

More Evidence For First Women’s Elimination Chamber Match

With the progress that is being made in the women’s division, Hell In A Cell, Money In The Bank, Royal Rumble, there has been further evidence to suggest that WWE will include a women’s elimination chamber match on February 25th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Charlotte & Sasha Banks Mainevent PPV

The Second Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match:

Kurt Angle had previously teased fans with the idea of a women’s elimination chamber match when he replied to a comment in a Facebook Q&A session in October 2017.

Only a month away from the RAW brand PPV, the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas has released a promotional tweet that suggests the inclusion of a women’s elimination chamber match:

The combination of showing Alexa Bliss on the image and using phrasing that references being inside the chamber itself, rather than just featuring on the PPV, strongly suggests the inclusion of a women’s elimination chamber match.

Opinion:

It’s simple, the more the merrier!  Why wouldn’t anyone want a women’s division elimination chamber match?  If the division is growing and expanding, as it is, then it makes perfect sense to include these special occasions too.

NXT Star Returns To Action In Albany (Photos), Alexa Bliss On The Women’s Revolution

– Inaugural Mae Young Classic winner Kairi Sane returned to action inside the squared circle at last night’s NXT live event in Albany, New York. Sane defeated “The Lady Of NXT” Lacey Evans in one-on-one competition after hitting an Insane Elbow. Sane hadn’t competed since November at NXT TakeOver: WarGames when she took part in a Fatal 4-Way Match against Nikki Cross, Peyton Royce, and Ember Moon for the vacant NXT Women’s Title.

Moon eventually won the match. No specifics have been reported on Sane’s hiatus from competition, but Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter did note on Twitter recently that she was “banged up.”

You’re never done,” Bliss said. “The WWE has been at the forefront of promoting women in sports entertainment and athletics. But it would be awesome if one day we main event WrestleMania. That would be amazing. At the moment, the fact that we’re making history is very exciting. I’m very excited by this Royal Rumble Match because the revolution didn’t start with just one or two women. So the fact you have every woman included is awesome.”

Alexa Bliss Comments on Potentially Facing Ronda Rousey

Reporters recently caught up with current Raw Women’s champion, Alexa Bliss, and asked her about possibly facing former UFC bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey.

Rousey was recently seen having dinner with Triple H, fueling speculation we could see her in a WWE ring sooner rather than later. Rousey and Triple H’s public outing may have also been away for the company to draw attention to the upcoming 1st ever women’s Royal Rumble match and Rousey’s potential inclusion in it.

Alexa Bliss Comments on Ronda Rousey

When reporters asked Bliss if she was worried about Rousey taking her title, Bliss brushed off the question.

“Please I’m a fighting champion, I’m not worried about anyone taking this belt” – Alexa Bliss

Bliss was also asked about the possibility of Rousey appearing in the upcoming Royal Rumble and replied, “I think it’s a monumental moment in women’s history and if any woman wants to get involved, I think that’s awesome”.

Asked if Bliss had a message for Rousey, Bliss simply replied “Good Luck”.

WWE Superstar On The Progress Of The Women’s Division Ahead Of Royal Rumble

Having already made significant progress in 2017, the women’s division has certainly kicked off 2018 with huge promise and potential for even greater success.

Below is a few examples of how Women in WWE have moved forward during 2017:

With NXT, returning legends, and invasions, it’s clear that the women’s division has been expanding and growing with depth, enabling the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble.

And while it’s natural to single out one or two superstars who have made the most impact in WWE, Alexa Bliss emphasised the importance and value of unity within the women’s division during an interview on 96.9 The Fox with Jim Lambert.

Alexa highlighted Stephanie McMahon’s involvement in announcing the historic match on January 28th, and explained that she loves the fact that every woman is involved.

“It was great that Becky [Lynch] and I had a cage match and a tables match. It’s great that Sasha [Banks] and Charlotte had the first-ever Hell in a Cell match, but it took every woman to get here, and the fact that every woman is included on this historic match, I think it’s that much bigger. And, bigger for the women’s evolution, because it took everyone to get there, the fact that everyone’s included is what I love about it.”

Alexa Bliss isn’t wrong either; every woman in the WWE is vital to the survival and development of the division.  If one member of the locker room leaves, there needs to be significant depth to sustain and meet expectations from the WWE Universe.

Implementing historic matches like The Royal Rumble and Money In The Bank won’t have value if they are dropped from the schedule later down the line.  Therefore it’s clear to see that WWE are confident with their development plans for the division and, more importantly, those plans are working.

Opinion:

The main question on my mind is: Tag Team Championships.  The only thing holding this back is depth in the locker room, but it seems as though this is something WWE are working on.  It’s only a matter of time.

Title Match Rumored For RAW’s 25 Anniversary Episode

WWE will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the launch of Monday Night RAW on January 22nd, 2018 in Brooklyn, NY.

WWE has announced the first match for next week’s episode of RAW in San Antonio, TX at the AT&T Center on the USA Network. Nia Jax will take on Asuka in a singles match.

There is speculation online that Asuka will beat Jax then challenge Alexa Bliss for the RAW Women’s Title on the 25th Anniversary show. It should be noted that Asuka is already confirmed to participate in the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match.

As noted, The Miz, who returned on this week’s show after being off television for several weeks to film the Marine 6, will challenge Roman Reigns for the Intercontinental Title on the special edition of RAW.

Could A Title Change Be Occurring Before The Royal Rumble On RAW?

On last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW former NXT Women’s Champion Asuka defeated RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss in one-on-one competition. After the match Michael Cole mentioned on commentary that Asuka could have potentially earned herself a shot at the RAW Women’s Title before WrestleMania. Dave Meltzer stated on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE is building up to putting the RAW Women’s Title on Asuka.

Meltzer noted that it’s possible this title change occurs before the Royal Rumble pay-per-view (PPV) later this month. If Asuka wins the RAW Women’s Title before the Royal Rumble, then she would not be involved in the first-ever all-female Royal Rumble match. It’s also possible that “Little Miss Bliss” would invoke her rematch clause at the Royal Rumble event as well.

Discussion: How would you feel about Asuka potentially winning the RAW Women’s Title before the Royal Rumble? Who would match-up with Asuka for the title at WrestleMania as a result? Is the woman destined to beat Asuka’s streak on the WWE’s roster right now?

Alexa Bliss Responds To Claims That She’s Not As Talented As The Four Horsewomen

WWE RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss was recently a guest on Sam Roberts’ Wrestling podcast to talk about her journey through the industry. During the interview, “Little Miss Bliss” discussed the comparisons she has received, as far as her in-ring ability goes, to women such as those in the Four Horsewomen stable. Oftentimes Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Bayley, and Charlotte Flair are referred to as better workers than Bliss, however, “Five Feet Of Fury” is statistically the most successful champion since the beginning of the Women’s Revolution.

During her interview with Roberts, Bliss explained that she believes this distinction is made due to the fact that she doesn’t use “flashy moves,” something she doesn’t like to do as a heel character:

“When I was in NXT, I was still training every day. I was still in the ring every day and working every live event. And just because I wasn’t on shows that were taped for NXT TV, I don’t think people knew what skills I could do. And being a bad guy, I try not to do a lot of flashy moves and a lot of, I guess, good guy skills because that’s not my character and I feel like people take that as, ‘oh, well, she’s not as skilled as Sasha [Banks] or Bayley, Charlotte [Flair], or Becky [Lynch].

“But, I take that as a challenge. I’m like, ‘well, I can do all these things. I chose not to because I don’t have to. My character isn’t supposed to be flashy and be over-the-top. I’m supposed to be dirty in the ring. I’m supposed to kick and punch and I’m supposed to cheat and find ways to win at all costs.”

Alexa Bliss Set To Break RAW Women’s Championship Record Soon

Alexa Bliss is steadily approaching a milestone as RAW Women’s Champion. “Little Miss Bliss” is currently in her second reign as RAW Women’s Champ, and that reign has lasted a total of 110 days thus far. If she can hold on to the title through Wednesday she’ll surpass former RAW Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair’s record of 113 days and become the longest reigning RAW Women’s Champion of all time.

Bliss’ first run as champion lasted approximately 112 days, missing out on the record by just one day. If she were to lose the title on RAW for any reason she will have missed out on the record by a day or two for the second time in her career. Bliss also has a shot at making even more history in her current reign.

If she can hang on to the belt for the next three and a half weeks she will have the longest combined reigns of any other woman since the inception of the RAW Women’s Championship. This would be an incredible feat after holding the title only twice, as opposed to someone like Charlotte who has won it four times.

Alexa Bliss Talks Being The Complete Opposite Of Her WWE Character

WWE Monday Night RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss recently did an interview with ESPN to talk about several professional wrestling topics. “Little Miss Bliss” discussed getting the idea to act like a brat on WWE TV, being the complete opposite of her gimmick in real life, and going away from her fairy gimmick in NXT. You can check out the highlights here below:

Getting the idea act like a brat on WWE TV:

“So I was at the airport and this little kid would not go through security and just threw a fit in the middle of the floor and did the whole thing with shaking his legs and arms. His parents were just standing there looking like, ‘We don’t know what to do!’ They were annoyed, and I was like, ‘Man, that’s a really bratty thing to do and I’m going to do it.'”

Being the complete opposite of her gimmick in real life:

“When it comes to the Alexa Bliss character, everyone says the character has to be an extension of yourself turned up. But I feel like I am the complete opposite of Alexa Bliss. When I came up with the Alexa Bliss character, I wanted to be the girl that everyone knew. There was always that girl in high school who was mean to everybody. She was mean and rude but everyone still voted for her to be homecoming queen. That girl. And I wanted to portray that girl. Because I knew that girl in high school. I knew girls like that.”

Getting away from her fairy gimmick in NXT:

“When I first joined with Murphy, I had to make a character change. I wasn’t confident in myself about that at all, but I remember my mom telling me that once something clicks with me … I had to … come in and kick the door down and let everyone know who I am.”

Alexa Bliss Reacts To WWE Working On Christmas

WWE Monday Night RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss was recently interviewed by Sporting News to talk about a variety of professional wrestling topics. Bliss discussed being in the same locker room as her best friend Nia Jax, what are the differences between RAW and SmackDown Live, and WWE airing a live episode of RAW on Christmas Day. Here are the highlights:

Sharing a locker room with Nia Jax:

“It’s great! When we were in NXT, we were best friends immediately, like within a day. When we were separated, it was a little tough because we couldn’t keep in touch as much but then as soon as we were back on the same brand, we instantly clicked again. We travel together. We hang out together even when we’re not on the road. You would think we’d get sick of each other but we don’t. We’re like sisters.

“We bicker like sisters. We have fun like sisters. We’re consistently just trying to make each other laugh. When you’re in a business like this, it’s grueling. It’s traveling, it’s constant. There’s drama. When you have your best friend there, it all kind of goes away and it’s so much fun.”

The differences between SmackDown Live and RAW:

“There’s really not a big difference. I’d say the only big difference is when I first started on Raw, I noticed there is a different sense of urgency because Raw is deemed the flagship show. So there’s always a little more urgency when it comes to Raw. But I do miss SmackDown a lot. The locker room is great. The people on SmackDown are amazing to work with. It’s basically just been like the new kid at school. It’s different but eventually, it just becomes natural again.”

WWE airing a live episode of RAW on Christmas Day:

“Honestly, I didn’t really have an opinion on it. [Laughs] It’s what we do. This is our job and no matter what day it falls on we have to do our job. I know some people were not too happy about it — the people that have families and stuff like that — but it’s work. It’s what we have to do. We signed up for it. I don’t really have an opinion on it. I just figured I’d make the best of it.”

Alexa Bliss & Sasha Banks Make History In Abu Dhabi

RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks made history on Thursday when they became the first female WWE Superstars to wrestle in the Middle East.

During previous WWE tours of the Middle East, women have not competed. Both Alexa and Sasha “covered up” their usual skimpy ring gear and wore body suits to comply with local societal requirements.

Alexa Bliss Reveals Her Reaction To Paige’s WWE Return

Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss spoke with Scott Fishman of The Miami Herald to promote WWE 2K18 being released on Nintendo Switch. Here are the highlights:

Fans criticizing WWE over calling up NXT stars to the main roster too soon:

“Here’s the thing. People say I was called up too soon. I thought I was called up too soon. It’s not about when you’re called up. It’s what you do with the opportunity. As long as they take advantage of every opportunity, I think it’s great to have them.”

Paige returning to WWE television:

“I’m really excited we have women returning and women coming up. Our division needs it. With the women’s revolution going on, it can only help. There is no bad that can come of it because WWE is good about evolving and bringing in new talent. That’s our source. To have people coming in and returning, it’s great…I’ve only had a few matches against Paige on NXT and a few live events. To have her on Raw, I’m real excited to see her back in action. It’s nice to see her happy and healthy. I’m really happy for her.”
