Andrade Originally Scheduled For Jay White Spot In Impact (Report)

At the conclusion of Slammiversary this weekend, “Switchblade” Jay White confronted Kenny Omega. White took part in the tapings on Sunday and Monday as well. As it turns out, however, AEW’s Andrade El Idola was the one originally booked in that spot.

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Andrade was to confront Omega building to their TripleMania match for AAA next month. There would also be a trios match on Impact television featuring Omega and the Good Brothers against Andrade and two other wrestlers. Andrade and Impact couldn’t come to a deal, however, leading to the change.

The switch to going with Jay White instead was something Omega only found out about when he arrived in Nashville for the shows.

“The plan was for Andrade to be in that spot, to build a program with Andrade, managed by Konnan, against Omega,” wrote Dave Meltzer. “They were going to do a six-man tag at the tapings with Omega & Gallows & Anderson vs. Andrade and two others.”

“But in the end, it fell through because Impact and Andrade didn’t come to money terms for the deal.”

It is not clear if a match between Jay White and Kenny Omega will take place. If it does, it’s not clear which promotion it would take place in. TripleMania will take place the same day as NJPW Resurgence on August 14th.

In addition to Omega vs Andrade for the AAA Mega Championship, Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo will face Reina de Reinas Champion Faby Apache in a title vs title match.

Andrade El Idolo Now Managed By Chavo Guerrero After ‘Complaints’

All Elite star Andrade El Idolo revealed on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite that his new ‘consultant’ was former WWE Superstar Chavo Guerrero.

Before this week’s show, Andrade El Idolo had been accompanied to the ring by Vickie Guerrero, who was acting as his manager on-screen. According to a report from the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, several ‘complaints led to the storyline direction being changed for Andrade.

Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez did not confirm if the ‘complaining’ had come from those within AEW or the fans, but it was enough for Tony Khan himself to change the former WWE Superstars’ push.

Meltzer stated, “I guess sometimes when you complain a lot, things happen. [Chavo] was not the surprise, this was a change. Tony Khan made a change from Vickie Guerrero to a new manager, and the new manager is Chavo Guerrero. So, that was not the original plan. The original plan was for Vickie Guerrero.”

There’s no news either on whether Andrade himself requested the change of manager to now have Chavo as his consultant.

El Idolo and Chavo interacted with Death Triangle on this week’s episode of Dynamite, with PAC, Penta El Zero M and Rey Fenix interrupting the newly signed AEW star during his segment.

It’s not confirmed what the direction now is for Andrade going forward. Still, it will likely be similar to what was originally planned, but with Chavo Guerrero managing him rather than Vickie.

Vickie Guerrero appears only to be managing Nyla Rose on AEW programming at this point. Dr Britt Baker D.M.D defeated Rose on this week’s episode of Dynamite in a contest for the AEW Women’s Championship.

Andrade El Idolo On Adding Nakamura And Charlotte To Los Ingobernables

Andrade El Idolo is looking to expand Los Ingobernables to include two of his favorite WWE wrestlers.

During an interview with Hugo Savinovich of Lucha Libre Online, newly-signed AEW roster member Andrade El Idolo expressed interest in working with Charlotte Flair and Shinsuke Nakamura as new members of Los Ingobernables.

“It’s a wonderful pitch,” said Andrade. “Nakamura is a great talent, so are RUSH and Charlotte. I have never been with my fiancé [Charlotte Flair] on TV, so it would be a dream to be with her, whether that be in this faction or not.”

Andrade continued by stating, “I also have never been on TV with Ric [Flair], who is always a great person with me, so it would be very cool to make a faction with my friend, RUSH, with my fiancé and my father-in-law, and with [Shinsuke] Nakamura, who has treated me well since Japan and is always a great person. This group would be wonderful, and I think we would make history. I hope this dream becomes a reality in a not-so-distant future.”

Los Ingobernables, which as a stable has not competed since 2019, has featured members La Sombra (Andrade El Idolo), RUSH, La Mascara, La Bestia Del Ring, El Terrible, Tetsuya Naito, Marco Corleone, and Rey Escorpion, competing primarily in CMLL. In New Japan Pro Wrestling, the stable Los Ingobernables de Japon consists of member Naito, EVIL, BUSHI, SANADA, Hiromu Takahashi, and Shingo Takagi.

Andrade El Idolo No Longer Working Federacion Wrestling’s Debut Show

Andrade El Idolo won’t be at the Federacion Wrestling debut show on June 19th.

The former WWE star known as Andrade took to Twitter  to announce he won’t be appearing at the event as he stated, “A good arrangement was not reached with the new company.”

He was scheduled to team with RUSH, Bestia Del Ring, and a surprise partner against Matt Taven, PJ Black, and The Briscoe Brothers (Mark & Jay Briscoe) at the event.

RUSH as well as Kenny King, Dragon Lee, and Bestia Del Ring have also announced that they’re off the show due to “logistical issues.”

Andrade recently signed with All Elite Wrestling. He’s slated to do an interview segment with Jim Ross on Friday’s episode of Dynamite.

At an RGR Lucha Libre show in Los Angeles over the weekend, Andrade teamed up with V.I.P. and Piloto Suicida to face El Hijo del Santo, Rey Leon, and Misterioso. His next match will be when he faces fellow WWE star Alberto Del Rio on July 31.

He’s slated to challenge AEW World Champion Kenny Omega for his AAA Mega Championship at TripleMania XXIX in August.

Details Emerge On Andrade’s Creative Control at AEW

Seeing Andrade El Idolo in an AEW ring was something fans were calling for since his WWE release. Andrade has been much talked about since his WWE release, many expected him to return to Mexico.

With AEW confirming his signing the same night as his appearance, the arrival of El Idolo is certainly a shake-up for the already stacked roster. Things are shaping up nicely for AEW ahead of their show expansion in a few months.

Since then, details have emerged about the contract negotiations that took place ahead of Andrade signing.

Possibly driven by frustrations spilling over from his previous employment, Andrade insisted on having creative control over his matches. Including the ability to veto losses.

According to Wrestling Inc’s Raj Giri, AEW started negotiating with Andrade the week following his release. However, it took a while to iron out. Sources claim that the final details give El Idolo a modicum of creative control over his match finishes.

With a host of promotions showing interest in signing Andrade, business pressure surely swayed things in his favor. IMPACT was willing to give the control but only on a per appearance basis, while ROH was also sniffing at making a play for the Mexican star.

Update: SEScoops has learned that reports of Andrade having any sort of “creative control” in AEW are incorrect. We apologize for this error.

A match against current AAA Mega Champion (and current AEW and IMPACT champion) Kenny Omega already set for Triplemania. This means a feud could easily be set for all three belts should all companies be willing to work together.

In signing Andrade El Idolo, AEW are the ultimate winners. It will be interesting to see how Andrade settles, and who he sets his sights on first.

Charlotte Flair Reacts To Andrade Making His AEW Debut

Former WWE Superstar Andrade made his All Elite Wrestling debut on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Now going under the name of Andrade El Idolo, the Mexican star that was previously a major part of the NXT brand is now looking to become one of the major names on Wednesday nights (Fridays for now).

Vickie Guerrero interrupted a segment with Tony Schiavone and Mark Henry, where the Worlds Strongest Man was discussing his own move to the promotion. Guerrero told them both to get out of the ring.

Vickie revealed that she was here to introduce a man who has won championships around the world and is a third generation wrestler. Guerrero then introduced Andrade El Idolo and he came to the ring. Andrade said they use to say he was the face of Latinos, but now he is saying he will be the new face of All Elite Wrestling.

Andrade’s partner Charlotte Flair reacted to the former WWE Superstar making his debut for All Elite. Flair posted a tweet with crying face and heart emojis; although it was clear that she was reacting to the debut with the timing of the message.

Andrade El Idolo Debuts On AEW Dynamite

Former WWE Superstar Andrade made his AEW debut on Friday’s episode of AEW Dynamite. He is now known as Adrade El Idolo.

During a segment that saw Mark Henry speaking to Tony Schiavone in the ring, Vickie Guerrero interrupted and told Henry and Tony Schiavone to get out of the ring. She then introduced her new client, Andrade. He also cut a promo and vowed to be the new ‘Face of AEW.’

Andrade requested his release from WWE earlier this year, but at the time, the company didn’t want to give it to him. That changed days later and on the same night as the Fastlane pay-per-view event, WWE confirmed they’d granted his release.

When he was let go, the belief was that he was under the standard 90-day non-compete clause as it would’ve prevented him from working for a major promotion or sign with anyone until that clause was up, but that wasn’t the case. Instead, WWE surprisingly gave him the release without such a clause.

Andrade is scheduled to face Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Championship at Triplemania in August.

Prior to joining WWE, he was a main eventer as La Sombra for years with CMLL where he held the World Title several times.
