Rey Mysterio Names Which Superstar He Believes Is The “Future” Of WWE

Rey Mysterio has named the current WWE Superstar that he believes will be the future of the promotion.

Speaking with the WINCLY Podcast, Mysterio named his recent rival, Andrade, as an undeniable talent who could have big things on the horizon in WWE.

“This kid is awesome. I mentioned it before in previous interviews, but every time I’m in the ring with him, there’s an affiliation to how I would move with Eddie [Guerrero],” admitted Mysterio. “This is how good he is: he’s thinking a step ahead before you even move. He already knows the positioning and knows exactly what to do and how to do it. My hat goes off to Andrade as he’s definitely the future of WWE.”

Mysterio then addressed the only thing that could be holding Andrade back at this point in time: his English. He does believe, however, that the work Andrade is putting into learning the language will pay off, helping to make him an even bigger Superstar.

“Just like anybody else – once you can dominate the mic skills and English, then he is bound to become a star,” replied Mysterio. “I’ve seen him work on his English, and it’s a slow process, but he’s moving forward. Once he dominates his English language, he’s on his way to stardom.”

A few months ago, Rey Mysterio and Andrade consistently stole the show with their series of matches on SmackDown Live.

Update On The Future Of Andrade And Finn Balor’s Feud After Money In The Bank

Reports of WWE Officials being high on Andrade have been a constant in the past few months and it appears that this is why the company is planning to continue his championship feud with Finn Balor in upcoming times.

Dave Meltzer talked about this feud between the former Universal Champion and the former NXT Champion in the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio and revealed that this rivalry is expected to continue beyond the upcoming Money In The Bank PPV.

For those who don’t know, Andrade and Balor have been feuding since the Superstar Shakeup edition of Raw last month.

These two have put on some great matches and both the stars have scored at least one victory against each other in the bouts they have had since then.

There have been reports of WWE officials being impressed with Andrade in the past and last year, it was said that the company plans to give him a push in 2019.

Now the latest reports are suggesting that the officials are still high on the former NXT Star and it’d be interesting to see if this transits into an Intercontinental Championship run for Almas in near future.

Both Andrade and Finn Balor are currently scheduled to participate in the Men’s Money In The Bank ladder match alongside Ricochet, Randy Orton, Ali, Sami Zayn, Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin, at the PPV of the same name this Sunday

Andrade Has Challenged Finn Balor For A Championship Match

Andrade has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging Finn Balor to an Intercontinental championship matchup.

The Superstar defeated Finn during his RAW debut after the Superstar Shake-Up. This victory surprised many, considering Balor’s recent triumph at WrestleMania 35, and would have helped Andrade quickly establish himself on the RAW roster.

Things didn’t turn out that way, however, as Andrade would quickly return to SmackDown Live the following Tuesday. Upon his sudden, retconned return to the blue brand, he would subsequently lose to Finn Balor, who was making his blue brand debut. Balor’s move also brought the Intercontinental championship to SmackDown Live.

With the tally now at a win each, a rubber match makes sense to determine the final victor. Making it for the Intercontinental championship certainly ups the stakes involved for each man.

“El Idolo” would call out Finn via Twitter, writing:

“@FinnBalor I got you once, you got me once. Let’s make it more interesting next time…put that #IntercontinentalChampionship on the line! Que tú piensas ???”

Balor would reply the next day, more than happy to accept:

“¡Órale guey!! Step Up and Get Busy AMIGO!”

With the challenge having been accepted, it seems likely that the two will clash for the gold at WWE’s upcoming Money In The Bank event, which takes place on May 19th.

Charlotte Flair Denies Being Engaged To Andrade

Charlotte Flair denies that she is engaged to fellow WWE star Andrade.

The 8-time WWE Women’s Champion issued a statement on Wednesday to Pro Wrestling Sheet, which refutes speculation in a TMZ article that the two are set to marry.

Flair’s statement read:

“Don’t believe everything you read online. Unless you read that I’m the most decorated women’s wrestler ever, because that is fact.

No, we are not currently engaged”

Flair and Andrade made their relationship public when they attended this year’s WWE Hall of Fame ceremony together.

When WWE held the Superstar Shakeup last week, it appeared from the outside that they did their best to keep all of the real-life couples on the same brand.

With one notable exception.

Flair was kept on Smackdown, while Andrade was moved to Raw with his manager Zelina Vega, and her real-life husband Aleister Black.

WWE changed course on that decision this week, when Andrade, Vega, and Black were all moved to Smackdown.

Flair and Andrade recently vacationed together in the Dominican Republic, and Flair was spotted wearing a ring on her left ring finger. Flair denies that the ring is an engagement ring.

Hold off on buying those wedding gifts.

What do you think of Charlotte Flair’s statement?

Aleister Black, Andrade & Zelina Vega Moved To SmackDown Roster

WWE’s Superstar Shakeup took place last week, but three Superstars who were moved to the Raw brand are now officially back on SmackDown.

Aleister Black is now a member of the SmackDown roster, effectively disbanding his tag team partnership with Ricochet. Black’s Superstar bio on WWE.com has been updated to reflect the change.

Andrade and Zelina Vegas have returned to SmackDown after 1 week on Raw. According to PWInsider, the FOX network requested that WWE shift the duo to SmackDown in part because they felt the show lacked Latino stars.

When SmackDown Live moves to FOX this October, there are plans to spotlight WWE’s Latino talent on the FOX Deportes Spanish language station.

Another positive aspect of these changes is that two WWE couples will be reunited on the road. Aleister Black is married to Zelina Vega, while Andrade is dating Charlotte Flair.

WWE Originally Had Different WrestleMania Plans For Rey Mysterio

Not so long ago, Rey Mysterio and Andrade were embroiled in an escalating feud. The two SmackDown Superstars would steal the show with each passing Tuesday. Many assumed it would lead to a major payoff, with fans and WWE Superstars giving their bouts praise.

Turns out, the feud between the two was meant to lead to “The Grandest Stage Of Them All,” WrestleMania.

According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, “Rey and Andrade were booked for WrestleMania, and why that changed I have no idea.”

He explained that Rey being choked out by Samoa Joe at WWE’s last event, Fastlane, is apparent evidence that Mysterio vs Joe at WrestleMania wasn’t on the table. At least at that time.

“To show you how short-sighted or how far this booking went, Joe choked Rey out at the last pay-per-view to win when you had R-Truth who could have lost or Andrade who could have lost that are going nowhere,” Meltzer said. “So that tells you on the day of the last pay-per-view there’s no way that this match was planned.”

Mysterio is now slated to wrestle Samoa Joe for the US Championship at WrestleMania 35. There is no word on whether the feud between himself and Andrade will reignite. There were, however, rumors at one point that the two would form a latino stablealong with Sin Cara.

Andrade & Charlotte Flair Acknowledge Rumor They Are Dating

SmakDown Live stars Andrade and Charlotte Flair are rumored to be WWE’s newest romantic power couple.

Over the past week, there has been speculation that the former NXT Champion and the former NXT Women’s Champion are currently dating. There have been reports of them spotted traveling together, with reporter Sean Ross Sapp tweeting (then deleting) that they have been seeing each other since “at least last month.”

Andrade and Charlotte have been bombarded with fans on Twitter inquiring about the legitimacy of the scuttlebutt. Charlotte gave the following coy comment on Wednesday:

Andrade also addressed the buzz by tweeting the following video clip. Note location of where the Tweet was sent: Charlotte, North Carolina.

Zelina Vega Reveals New Strategy For Andrade In Feud Against Rey Mysterio

This week’s SmackDown Live was apparently meant to further the feud between Andrade and Rey Mysterio. For those that may have missed it, however, the two Superstars did not appear on last night’s show.

However, utilizing their social media, WWE uploaded a backstage video showcasing an altercation between Andrade, Zelina Vega, and Rey Mysterio.

Zelina Vega took the lead after being asked to comment on Mysterio and the on-going feud that has been stealing the show for the past few weeks.

“Well, after a long day of collecting intel, I’ve decided to give Andrade the night off. Because I myself, have my movie ‘Fighting with My Family’ coming out next week, that the critics are already raving about — no doubt due to my performance, of course. But Andrade will be watching Elimination Chamber very closely because it seems to me that Rey Mysterio is just getting—”

Andrade would take that moment to interrupt his manager, insulting Mysterio by calling him a “coward.” He complained that, despite confronting and sending a “message” to Mysterio in the ring last week, Rey continues to hide from him.

Vega would listen to her client’s concerns before pitching him a new game plan:

“Maybe, just maybe, attacking Rey physically isn’t enough. Hear me out. I say we expand. We expand and hit Rey where it really hurts. Because I don’t think it’s a coincidence, Rey, that all of a sudden now is when you decide to call upon the power of your mentor. We will use what Rey considers strength as weakness and destroy him from the inside out.”

WWE’s Possible Plans For Andrade

If you’ve been watching SmackDown Live for the past few weeks, it would have been virtually impossible to miss the astounding series of matches between Andrade and Rey Mysterio. The two have faced off a number of times now on SmackDown, and every matchup has left people talking about the quality of their encounters.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com recently commented on what WWE could have planned for Andrade in the near future. He claims that “While not a sure thing, the direction looks to be that Mysterio and Andrade end their program as a babyface tag team, with Andrade getting the rub from Mysterio as part of strengthening of the tag team division.”

It has been speculated that Sin Cara may also join Andrade and Rey Mysterio. The three would form a new Latino stable. Sin Cara has been training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, ahead of his expected return from injury.

Meltzer also noted that WWE is interested in positioning Andrade as a top Hispanic babyface for the company. With Mysterio having returned, the plan appears to be to use his star power to leverage Andrade into that position. This is despite recent reports over Andrade allegedly warning other Hispanic talent about WWE.

There is no word at this point in time on where Zelina Vega may fit into this group. The addition of Zelina Vega as Andrade’s manager helped to elevate him during his time in NXT to championship status.

What do you think of this rumored stable? Do you think they will be a force to contend with? Is Andrade the next big babyface for WWE?

Andrade Reportedly Warning Talent Not To Sign With WWE

In recent months, there have been several rumors that Smackdown Superstar, Andrade, is not happy with how WWE has used him. The 29-year-old signed with the promotion in 2015. Aside from participating in the 2018 Royal Rumble match, Andrade has never wrestled on a WWE main roster PPV.

According to a recent report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Andrade has warned other luchadors from signing with the promotion.

“In the case of Rush, he’s very close with Andrade, who pretty much warned him and Dragon Lee about going to WWE,” wrote Dave Meltzer in reference to Rush’s signing with ROH.

“Andrade’s advice was that WWE wasn’t what it was cracked up to being,” Meltzer continued.

Andrade On Smackdown

Andrade has played a more important role on Smackdown as of late. He defeated Rey Mysterio in single’s action this week. Andrade is scheduled to face Rey Mysterio again this week in a best 2-of-3 falls match on Tuesday.

Tuesday will be the 3rd single’s match between Andrade and Mysterio in WWE. Mysterio beat Andrade in the first match back in November. Andrade and Samoa Joe defeated Mustafa Ali and Mysterio two weeks ago on Smackdown as well.

Recently, WWE shortened Andrade’s name from Andrade “Cien” Almas to just Andrade.
