AEW’s Anthony Ogogo And Wife Expecting Their First Child

Anthony Ogogo and his wife Casey are celebrating as the couple have shared that they are awaiting the birth of their first child. Ogogo said that parenthood will be the next round in his life and questioned if his child will grow up to be a boxer or a wrestler.

Ogogo signed with AEW in 2019 and made his on-screen TV debut in 2021. That same year, the Olympic bronze medalist feuded with Cody Rhodes, culminating in a match at Double or Nothing 2021 that Rhodes won. In April of this year, Ogogo aligned with Shane Taylor Promotions by joining them in a beatdown on Chris Jericho and HOOK.

Pro Wrestling’s Baby Fever

Anthony Ogogo isn’t the only wrestler who’ll be changing diapers and warming up bottles soon enough. During an April edition of AEW Rampage, Ruby Soho revealed that she is pregnant and celebrated in the ring with her now-husband Angelo Parker. Days later, fellow Riott Squad alum Valhalla shared that she and Viking Raider Erik are also expecting their second child.

At San Diego Comic-Con last month, former WWE RAW & SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey shared that she is expecting her second child and revealed her baby bump at the convention. Rousey and her husband Travis Browne welcomed their daughter La’akea into the world in September 2021. She is also a stepmom to two of Browne’s sons from a previous marriage.

We here at SE Scoops would like to send our congratulations to Ogogo and his wife on their joyous news!

AEW Talent Opens Up About Text Sent to Cody Rhodes After Historic Segment With The Rock

WWE saw a huge shift in their creative direction when Then Rock returned to television. He found himself in the ring with Cody Rhodes, as they hugged before The Great One had a showdown with Roman Reigns. Everything happened very quickly after that, and we all know how everything escalated after that. Anthony Ogogo saw that footage, and it rocked his world as well.

Anthony Ogogo Reacts To Cody Rhodes & The Rock’s Segment

Anthony Ogogo recently spoke with Boxing Scene, where Cody’s segment with The Rock came up. That was a bit of a mind-blowing experience for him to see, because he knows The American Nightmare and has shared the ring with him.

“I saw Cody in the ring with The Rock the other day, I saw it on YouTube, over a 100m views or whatever and I thought…”

After he took a moment to pause, Ogogo continued to say, “I took a screenshot. And I just thought, ‘F*ck. I was in the ring with him a couple of years ago, now he’s in with the biggest star in the world.’”

Anthony Ogogo then revealed what he texted Cody Rhodes after that momentous segment on WWE television.

Everyone knows The Rock. “I’m happy for Cody. He’s a very good professional wrestler. He’s worked hard. He’s bet on himself. I’m happy for him.” “And I text Cody and said, ‘Mate, this is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time. Buzzing for you. Go get it’. That’s what I text him. And I mean that, it’s a big thing for him.”

Cody Rhodes will get a chance to finish his story after all, because fans spoke out and cause The Rock to pivot from his original plan.

WWE Changed WrestleMania Plans

I exclusively reported on SEScoops that a source within WWE confirmed that The Rock initially intended to have a match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. The current scenario regarding the show was not The Rock’s original preference, indicating that it was not part of a preconceived plan from the outset. He then conceded that Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns should be the main event match.

I was later told that “The Rock conceded it should be Roman vs Cody.” It was Dwayne Johnson’s call to switch things up, and now Cody vs Roman is the main event of WrestleMania. At this point, a tag team match with The Rock joining the Bloodline seems to be the direction against Cody and Seth Rollins.

Anthony Ogogo Re-Signs With AEW

Despite not being seen on AEW television for a long time, the company has re-signed one of it’s stars during the COVID-19 era.

Anthony Ogogo revealed on the latest episode of AEW Restricted that he has signed a new deal with All Elite Wrestling and believes that Tony Khan has a lot of confidence in him as a star.

“There’s working there (on the independents) and there’s working AEW. So I’m in a weird situation now where I think there’s a lot of potential around me and Tony Khan has signed me and he’s re-signed me. So he obviously sees something in me and I have this aura which people haven’t got because they haven’t done what I’ve done in real life.”

Ogogo did make an appearance in his home country at AEW All In in London, but in a segment with Paul Wight and Grado. The former rival of Cody Rhodes questioned the prospect of working on the independents to get more experience, but also believes he’s ready for the main stage.

“I don’t wanna be patient… I don’t wanna be patient anymore. I wanna show my worth. I just wanna show what I can do… If I didn’t think I could deliver, I wouldn’t be saying this. But I know what I can do, I know what I have. I just wanna contribute.”

The former boxer admitted that his initial run in AEW hasn’t met his expectations, but realizes he has to put in the work.

“All I can do is work hard and give it my all and when the call comes, hopefully the call will come, to show up and turn up and that’s what I’m doing.”

“I Just Want to Wrestle” – Anthony Ogogo Addresses Lack of AEW TV Time

Anthony Ogogo is an established fighter, but that hasn’t translated into TV time on AEW Dynamite or Rampage.

Ogogo joined AEW in 2019 and comes from a boxing background, having won Silver at the 2010 New Dehli Commonwealth Games and Bronze at the London 2012 Summer Olympics.

A 2017 fight resulted in one of Ogogo’s eye sockets being fractured and he would be forced to retire from professional boxing years later.

I Just Want to Wrestle

In March 2021, Ogogo would make his AEW TV debut and would immediately enter a program with Cody Rhodes.

Despite the prominent feud, that saw Rhodes win at Double or Nothing 2021, Ogogo has all but vanished from AEW TV.

Speaking to Fightful, the Olympic Bronze medalist reflected on how little he’s been featured over the past 18 months.

I just want to wrestle. I want to get good and have time. I just want to be on TV and show people how hard I’m working and how good I can be.”

Anthony Ogogo.

Ogogo added that he’s being “patient” and continues to make appearances for indie promotions and PROGRESS Wrestling.

Everything has Changed

Ogogo was away in the UK from June 2021 to December 2021 dealing with his passport and visa issues, after both items were stolen during his time in the States.

Speaking about his return to AEW, the British star explained how nothing is quite the same as it once was.

“When I came back, everything had changed. They signed Bryan Danielson, the best wrestler who has probably ever lived, they signed (CM) Punk and this, that, and the other person.

“The whole landscape changed. Cody left, me coming back and doing something with him, that was gone because he’s not there. Everything just changed and with me, I think I’m such a unique talent that it’s hard to know what to do with me.”

Ogogo’s most recent match for the promotion saw him defeat Luke Kurtis via knockout on the August 21, 2022 taping of AEW Dark.

Anthony Ogogo Speaks About Boxing Retirement – Finding “Fun” In AEW

Before making it to AEW in 2019, Anthony Ogogo was an accomplished Boxer, having won Bronze at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.

Unfortunately, three years earlier, a fight with Craig Cunningham for the vacant WBC International Middleweight Title resulted in Ogogo suffering a fractured eye socket.

This injury resulted in Ogogo being registered as blind in one eye, and ultimately led to his retirement.

Watching the Dream

Before his retirement, Ogogo had remained hopeful that he would box again, but for the time being, had to watch others live his dream.

Speaking to the Metro UK newspaper, Ogogo explained how it felt seeing others going on to boxing success while he had to wait and hoped for recovery.

“It sounds horrible, but it was like watching another bloke have sex with your missus. Being handcuffed to your seat and not being able to do anything about it.”

Ogogo spent over £100,000 (over $117,000) on surgeries in the United States hoping to fix his eye.

After Retiring

In March 2019, nearly two-and-a-half years after his last fight, Ogogo confirmed that he had retired from boxing.

Even now, Ogogo struggles to enjoy boxing, and was in a very bad place at the time of his retirement.

“When I first retired, I was sick of the sight of boxing. Hearing the word boxing made my skin crawl, I got so angry, so bitter, so aggressive. I became a person I didn’t want to be.”

“Hearing the word boxing made my skin crawl.”

Anthony Ogogo

Moving On

Ogogo still struggles to think about boxing, but as he told the Metro UK, he is improving.

Realizing the bad head-space he was in, Ogogo worked on moving on from his former career.

“I started to realize it’s not just my dream, it’s their dream too. I had to let it go and walk away. Boxing made me feel sick to my stomach when I knew I couldn’t do it anymore. I’m not quite there yet and I’m not going to torture myself by going to fights. But I’m getting there.”

“I had to let it go and walk away.”

Ogogo on realizing that he had to let Boxing go.

AEW and Finding “Fun”

Nowadays, fans can find Ogogo in AEW, which he said has become a much better place for him.

Comparing Boxing and wresting as “chalk and cheese,” Ogogo said that unlike his previous career, working in AEW is fun.

“What I love about wrestling, it is fun… Professional boxing ain’t fun. It is great when you win but no boxer can honestly tell you it’s fun. I was never laughing at that 1000th sit up of the day.”

Ogogo’s most recent match saw him defeat Luke Kurtis on the August 21, 2022 tapings of AEW Dark.

Anthony Ogogo Opens Up About Weigh-In Segment With Cody: “F***ing Dogsh*t”

AEW star Anthony Ogogo recently appeared on Insight With Chris Van Vilet to discuss a number of pro-wrestling topics, which included the former Olympian’s thoughts on his feud with Cody Rhodes in 2021.

The two were set to meet at that year’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view from Daily’s Place in Florida, AEW’s first major event with a packed house since the COVID-19 outbreak of 2020. Prior to the match the hard-hitting Brit and the American Nightmare had several segments to build their feud on Dynamite, with one being memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Ogogo and Rhodes met for a weigh-in segment hosted by Paul Wight, but things went horrendously wrong. Wight had issues reading the scale and fireworks from a local baseball game went off that caused a great distraction. The segment seemed never ending, and since there was no physicality it left everyone with a bad taste in their mouth going into Double or Nothing.

When talking about the weigh-in…Ogogo could not think of one nice thing to say.

“Fucking dogshit mate, fucking dogshit!”

He later reveals that he thought the idea was lame even before the fiascos occurred inside of the ring.

“So Cody said to me that we were going to do a weigh-in. I’m like ‘Cool, so what’s going to happen?’ And Cody is brilliant, he is brilliant at what he does and he has got a great mind for it. [Cody] was like ‘We are going to do a weigh-in.’ I’m like ‘Cool, who is getting knocked out? What are we going to do.’ [Cody responds] ‘It’s a weigh-in, we are not going to touch.’ I’m like oh, I have watched enough wrestling to know that that’s a bit drab, a bit of shit.”

Ogogo doesn’t just call the whole segment a disaster, but believes he was the biggest victim of its failure.

“Mate the whole thing was disastrous, but I feel like I’m the victim. It was my first kind of entry, and I am in this really weird segment that wasn’t my idea. I would have rather knocked out Goldust, knocked out Dustin.”

Rhodes would go on to defeat Ogogo at Double or Nothing. Ogogo has been largely absent from AEW’s main programming (Dynamite & Rampage) ever since.

Cody Rhodes “Regrets Almost Everything” About Anthony Ogogo Feud

Cody Rhodes says he regrets almost everything about the angle he had with Olympic boxer, Anthony Ogogo. Rhodes was speaking to Brandon Walker on the Barstool Rasslin’ podcast when he commented on the matter.

“I regret almost everything about the Anthony Ogogo angle. Almost everything about it,” Rhodes said on the show.

Rhodes would continue to say that perhaps he wasn’t the best person to be speaking about race relations as he did during that storyline.

“A white guy talking about race relations, who has an American flag tattoo on his neck, I can see why people would use the terms ‘tone-deaf’ when it came to that,” Rhodes continued. “Then trying to defend it and all — Just again, intentions were good and sincere and I was so excited about Brandi and the baby but it just — That should have just been one where I went out and almost just winged it.”

“It set the angle in a tailspin where it just wasn’t a classic, USA vs. UK, fun-spirited deal. I was going to go over to the UK and have the return match. Now I just never want to think about it again.”

Rhodes’ promo can be viewed in the player below:

Rhodes defeated Anthony Ogogo at Double or Nothing 2021 in May. The following week, however, QT Marshall and Ogogo defeated Cody and Lee Johnson in tag team action.

Ogogo then took a 6-month hiatus from AEW. He returned on the December 1st show in Duluth, Georgia, wrestling on AEW Dark: Elevation. He also took part in the AEW Dark tapings at Universal Studios on December 3rd. Ogogo competed on the Dark: Elevation shows throughout December but was off last week for the show in Jacksonville.

Anthony Ogogo Reportedly Has Backstage Heat In AEW

Olympic Bronze-medal boxer and member of the AEW roster, Anthony Ogogo, reportedly has backstage heat due to his recent comments on Twitter. Following Ring of Honor’s Final Battle PPV earlier this month, Ogogo Tweeted comments directed at Jonathan Gresham.

“Super cute that @TheJonGresham was the last ever ROH champ, kinda reminds me when Hornswoggle was the last ever cruiserweight champ. Congrats kiddo,” Ogogo Tweeted.

The comment drew responses from Gresham’s wife Jordynne Grace as well as Hornswoggle.

According to a report from Fightful, Ogogo’s comments did not sit well with several members of the AEW roster. While several members of the roster were said to be upset, Ogogo’s heat is not believed to be substantial. One member of the roster stated that they believed Ogogo was trying to create an angle but by the time Grace had stated it was not a storyline, Ogogo had gone too far to go back.

Jonathan Gresham took to Twitter to clarify that he was not working an angle with Ogogo.

“No it’s not an angle. It is not a gimmick. We are not working on this together. It is simply someone going into business for themselves. And legit taking shots at myself and my wife online. But please continue to support that kind of behavior as its seems to entertain you,” Gresham Tweeted.

Jordynne Grace, Anthony Ogogo, & Hornswoggle Trade Shots On Twitter

AEW’s Anthony Ogogo recently caused a stir online with some comments about Jonathan Gresham winning the ROH World Championship. Ogogo even tagged Gresham in his Tweet.

“Super cute that @TheJonGresham was the last ever ROH champ, kinda reminds me when Hornswoggle was the last ever cruiserweight champ. Congrats kiddo,” Ogogo Tweeted.

This led to Gresham’s wife, the ever outspoken former Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace, to respond.

“Did you get to the hammer lock part of training yet or are you still at the wrist lock?”

Ogogo then responded to Grace claiming he does not know who she is.

“Sorry darling, who are you? Hammer locks are child’s play, that’s why Gresham can do them. I’m at the knocking mf’s out and becoming the best athlete turned wrestler there’s ever been, part!” He Tweeted.

https://twitter.com/JordynneGrace/status/1470112610775441409

The former Hornswoggle, Dylan Postl, responded to Ogogo as well.

Ogogo then responded to him:

“Damn bro, who pissed on your cornflakes? I was putting you, and Lil Bill, over. I was buzzing when you did your little thing off the top rope. But if you wanna compare lives, I’ve done a shit ton more in my life than you’ve done in your short life, kiddo. Cheers”

The former Hornswoggle responded to this as well:

Ogogo kept going:

AEW Star Potentially Close To Making His Return

One AEW star may be closing in on making his way back to the ring.

Since splitting from the Nightmare Family, The Factory has been ruffling the feathers of other AEW talent. That includes Paul Wight, although Wight got his revenge on QT Marshall at the All Out PPV event. There has been one member of The Factory who has been out of action for a while, however.

Anthony Ogogo Close To Making Return?

Back in July, it was revealed that Anthony Ogogo was taking time off due to having his tenth eye surgery. Ogogo is a former boxer who suffered damage to his left eye and has had to undergo numerous procedures. Back in March 2017, Ogogo was registered blind in his left eye.

In an interview with Daily DDT, QT Marshall delivered the good news that Anthony Ogogo is back in the United States and is ready to return at any time.

“He just came back. He was overseas getting everything taken care of, so we’ll see. I think it’s about right place, right time, and trying to figure out the right story as well. Just to throw someone out there is… my biggest thing for me personally, after 17 years, the last thing I want to do is go in there and take random bumps for no reason.

“I try to explain that to Anthony and everyone’s itching to get back. Right now, we have a huge roster of huge stars, so it’s just one of those things of going back to the drawing board and figuring it out. But in the meantime, he’s been training and working out and doing what he does. He’ll be ready when that call comes.”

Ogogo was last seen feuding with the Gunn Club. Since then, Gunn Club has turned heel so we aren’t likely to see Ogogo wrap up his issues with Billy Gunn.

Anthony Ogogo’s AEW Career On Hold After Tenth Eye Surgery

AEW star Anthony Ogogo is a man wrestling on borrowed time. The former Olympic boxer has not hidden the fact that he struggles with his left eye. After years of damage in the boxing ring, his career was cut short before he really got a chance in the professional ranks.

Now, sadly, it looks like his wrestling career could also be on the ropes. The news has just been confirmed that Anthony Ogogo is on the injured list after undergoing his tenth eye surgery.

However, despite the risk of the surgery, and the fact that Ogogo is already registered as blind in that eye, he refused to let that stop him. Remaining in character all the way to the operating room, he cut a promo that many wrestlers would love to give.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CQ1LbPBB-wm/

“Billy Gunn, you’re so lucky that I’m not in America right now. Because I would rip you limb from limb. I’d break every bone in your face and make your life not worth living.”

“You have no idea the pain I’m in right now, but you will do. I promise you, Billy Gunn, you will do. I’m going to make your life a living misery. I’m going to hurt you, Billy. There is no pain like watching your children get punished and pulverized in front of your face. You can do nothing about it. So, Billy Gunn, be lucky that I’m not there right now. Enjoy what time you have left with your boys because when I’m back soon, that time is numbered.” Anthony Ogogo declared, making it clear that he has plenty of unfinished business in AEW.

“I am Anthony Ogogo, The Guv’nor of AEW, and I am the hardest b—–d you’ll ever set eyes on.”

Heavy Surgery Won’t Slow Anthony Ogogo Down

The surgery is no simple procedure for Ogogo, and it remains to be seen if he will be cleared to wrestle again. Talking about the extent of work he needed, Ogogo explained. This is the 10th eye surgery because I’ve got so much scar tissue around my eye socket. They had to go through my nasal cavity, correct my septum, which was deviated when you smashed my face off the steel barricade. They had to fix the orbit and the medial section, and the orbital flaw, through my nose.”

Ogogo lacks experience in the wrestling ring but recently feuded with Cody Rhodes, trained at his Nightmare Factory before making his debut, and is now locked in a feud with Hall of Famer Billy Gunn.

Hopefully, it will not be too long before we see Anthony ‘the Guv’nor’ Ogogo back in an AEW ring.

Anthony Ogogo On Why He Turned Down WWE Offer Despite More Money

Anthony Ogogo wrestled in the biggest match of his wrestling career against Cody Rhodes at the Double Or Nothing PPV. Even though he lost the bout, the heavyweight star received praise for his performance.

The former boxing star recently had an interview with The Sportster where he claimed that he was offered a contract by WWE as well but explained why he turned it down and signed with AEW instead.

Ogogo revealed that WWE was offering him more money than AEW. However, he still turned down their offer because he believes in Tony Khan’s vision for him:

“[WWE] offered me more money than AEW. I didn’t join them because I believe in Tony Khan’s vision. I believed in Cody Rhodes’ vision. I believe in AEW’s vision. I love being a part of AEW,”

Anthony Ogogo On The Difference Between WWE And AEW Management

Anthony Ogogo went on to explain that at AEW he feels like the management cares about their wrestlers. While at WWE, it was all about the money:

“I love how the team give a f**k about their wrestlers. If I’m going through a tough time in a minute, I’m getting texts from the management asking me if I’m okay daily. They care about the people rather than the money,

The other place, they seem to care about money first and people if at all. We care about other people first because they know that a happy workplace creates good stuff.”

Anthony Ogogo is a former Olympic boxer who had to retire after suffering a serious eye injury during a match in 2016.

He began his pro wrestling career in 2019. He was signed by AEW the same year as their first developmental wrestler.

Anthony Ogogo Calls Out Jake Paul: Come Play With The Big Boys

Former Olympic boxer turned AEW wrestler Anthony Ogogo has called out YouTube personality turned boxer, Jake Paul.

On the undercard of Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr over the weekend, Paul knocked out former NBA player Nate Robinson to earn his second win as a professional. Video of the viral knockout can be seen below.

Ogogo sent the following message to Paul on Twitter, challenging him to step up if he wants to ‘play with the big boys.’

Ogogo signed with AEW in October of 2019. He is training with Cody Rhodes and QT Marshall as well as working in a commentary role periodically on AEW Dark. He retired from the boxing ring in 2019 after suffering visual impairment following a broken orbital bone suffered in a 2016 fight against Craig Cunningham. His trainer took him out of the fight in the 8th round, resulting in the only loss of Ogogo’s pro career. Ogogo has said he was declared legally blind as a result of the injury and had his driver’s license taken away.

He hasn’t fought since and officially retired in 2019.

“I’ve been through a lot in my career. I’ve had 17 operations and suffered every pain imaginable. I’ve won, lost, cried and hurt. But if you were to ask me would I do it again? In a heartbeat. I love this game,” he said when announcing his retirement.

As for Jake Paul, he has over 20 million subscribers on YouTube. He is also the brother of famous YouTuber, Logan Paul. Jake Paul won his first pro-fight in January and then knocked out his opponent over the weekend in a clip that has gone viral online.
