  • Kelly Kelly Still Has Iconic Wrestling Boots Given To Her By Ashley Massaro

Kelly Kelly Still Has Iconic Wrestling Boots Given To Her By Ashley Massaro

Kelly Kelly’s run with WWE is iconic in many ways. Not only did the high-flying star break the stereotypes of female competitors with the moves in the ring but she also set new fashion standards for stars to come with many iconic looks in her career.

However while the former Divas champion put a lot of thought into many of her ring gears, there were some that came together accidentally but she kept them going for many reasons.

The wrestling veteran recently sat down with McKenzie Mitchell to talk about some of her most memorable looks. During the interview, Kelly was asked if she ever had to borrow a part of her ring gear from someone else and she recalled the late Ashley Massaro lending her wrestling boots one time:

“I know I talked about Ashley a lot and I just I love her and I miss her. I had a match and I didn’t have wrestling boots. She gave me her black Puma wrestling boots. She let me keep them and I wrestled in those every week, forever. I still have those to this day. But it was just so cool. She was like, ‘Hey, yeah girl here I got these.’”

According to Kelly Kelly, the Puma boots were so comfortable that she continued wrestling in them for a long time and she has kept them even now:

“They weren’t like regular wrestling boots. I love that because they were like they’re just lace up boots but so great to wrestle in because I didn’t want those big chunky wrestling boots. I never thought they were cute. I needed to be able to move, you know? So those boots and I still have them to this day.”

Kelly Kelly joined WWE back in 2006 and continued competing till her departure in 2012. During her run, Kelly won the Diva’s title once and feuded with names such as Maryse, Nikki Bella and Beth Phoenix.

The former champion has made occasional appearances for the company in recent years including her participation in the inaugural Women’s Royal Rumble and the Evolution PPV in 2018.

Ashley Massaro joined WWE in 2005 and was featured regularly until she asked for her release in 2008 to care for her sick daughter. She unfortunately passed away in May 2019.

  • New Evidence Emerges In Ashley Massaro’s WWE Sexual Assault Case

New Evidence Emerges In Ashley Massaro’s WWE Sexual Assault Case

Content warning: Please note this report includes descriptions of sexual assault

Ashley Massaro’s case is getting even more attention, and this is thanks to recently-released documents that provides a lot more context and details about what allegedly happened during that WWE overseas tour.

At least five reporters received emails informing them about Freedom of Information Act responses awaiting them. These responses were related to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service investigation concerning a rape allegation made by former WWE performer Ashley Massaro in a 2017 affidavit. Now, the contents of that paperwork causing many to take a closer look at this troubling story.

Tragically, Ashley Massaro died by suicide on May 16, 2019, at the age of 39. Her death came as a shock to her fans and colleagues in the wrestling world. Her passing sparked discussions about mental health awareness and the pressures faced by individuals in the entertainment industry. Her story from that WWE tour in Kuwait also surfaced once again.

    New Information

This affidavit about Ashley Massaro’s case was made public by her lawyer after her May 2019 death by suicide. Excluding the response letter, the document consists of 79 pages, including blank pages indicating redactions of entire pages or page ranges. All names in the file, including those of witnesses and investigators, are redacted except for Massaro’s.

Interesting enough, the file contains some new information, including corroborating details shared by both Massaro and WWE when she initially made the allegations in court in 2016 and 2017.

David Bixenspan was one of the reporters who received this information. He did not post the whole file, because detectives apparently didn’t properly redact the identity of one witness, but other details were revealed.

The NCIS file reveals crucial information in its midpoint, notably in the summary of the NCIS interview with the individual identified in Massaro’s medical records as the physician assistant who treated her.

According to the interview summary, “[Redacted] stated he recalled MASSARO complained of abdominal and pelvic pain.” Furthermore, “[Redacted] recalled that MASSARO was accompanied by a male civilian that he did not recognize, but he recalled someone in the clinic saying it was [redacted]. [Redacted] stated [redacted] seemed to be acting skittish and strange. [Redacted] described [redacted] as a [redacted] male, in his thirties, [redacted] hair, perhaps had a mustache, and was well built.” Notably, this description does not match anyone from the WWE entourage present at the time.

Additionally, the interview summary reveals, “[Redacted] stated that when he first saw MASSARO[,] he believed she was drowsy, but she was not falling asleep during conversation or slurring her words. [Redacted] recalled someone else working in the facility may have said that ‘she was high’ but [redacted] was uncertain. [Redacted[ stated he had little experience with people on drugs or alcohol, so he was not sure.” This information, although not surprising given Massaro’s past struggles with drug addiction, gains significance when considered alongside other details from the interview.

    Additional Information

Post Wrestling also obtained this file, and their report highlighted the confusion surrounding the location of the alleged assault. Initially believed to have occurred at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Massaro’s medical records indicated she was treated at Camp Patriot, Aerial Port of Demarcation, Troop Medical Clinic, which is located 90 minutes away from the base.

An interview with the physician assistant who treated Massaro on June 25, 2019, stood out among the documents.

According to the newly-released document, the assistant had a vivid recollection of treating Massaro and provided a diagram of the facility’s layout and the location where he attended to her. He was called in on a Sunday to treat “a civilian” who complained of abdominal and pelvic pain, and that civilian was Massaro.

During the examination, the assistant noted Massaro was accompanied by a male civilian who “seemed to be acting skittish and strange” and didn’t match the description of any WWE personnel on the tour. He described the man as “in his thirties…perhaps had a mustache, and was well-built.”

Although Massaro appeared drowsy, she did not fall asleep or slur her words. However, someone in the facility questioned if she was high. The assistant was uncertain about this.

Despite concerns about Massaro’s state, she appeared lucid during the questioning portion of the exam and consented to a pelvic exam.

David Bixenspan also raised questions about the practice of conducting a pelvic exam given Massaro’s condition and the uncertainty surrounding her state.

There could be a lot more to this story as new information is made known. Sadly, Ashley Massaro is no longer around to tell her story. Through her passing, she has not been forgotten, and there are many who still want justice for whatever happened in Kuwait.

  • Friend Of Ashley Massaro Claims Stephanie Knew Of Her In Assault While In Kuwait For WWE

Friend Of Ashley Massaro Claims Stephanie Knew Of Her In Assault While In Kuwait For WWE

Stephanie McMahon was fully aware of the alleged assault of Ashley Massaro in Kuwait, according to the best friend of the deceased WWE diva.

Before taking her own life in 2019, Massaro had alleged that she was the victim of sexual assault during a WWE tour of a U.S. military base in Kuwait. Massaro claimed that a man posing as a doctor assaulted her and while WWE apologized, they persuaded her to not report it to the appropriate authorities. Following her death, WWE claimed they had never been informed of the allegations.

    Addicted to Painkillers

Given Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon, there has been a renewed spotlight on the ex-WWE Chairman’s handling of women during his time in command. Speaking to News Nation, Cara Pipia, a friend of Massaro, claimed that the rigors of wrestling and WWE’s willingness to share muscle relaxants led to a battle with addiction.

When Ashley first started working for the WWE, she told me that in the locker room, they handed out Soma like it was candy. Soma, it’s a muscle relaxant. So it is what they’d give the wrestlers when they were injured because there was no not wrestling. You had a broken arm, you take a soma and you wrestle.

“And at that point [when the assault happened] she had become addicted to Somas. So she was already in this state, and whatever they administered to her rendered her helpless. Her body was useless to her but her mind was there and she saw what was happening.”

    Left in Kuwait

During the interview, Pipia recalled Massaro telling her that WWE had left her in Kuwait after the alleged assault. Pipia said that while WWE did eventually get Ashley home, it was not the company’s priority.

They got her a flight, days after everyone was already home. She was left alone. Because they had to go back to work. Vince wanted them back in the USA because they had work to do.”

    Stephanie McMahon Knew of Assault

“She spoke with Vince McMahon many times. Vince had his daughter [Stephanie] take his place because she was a female, a woman, and to make Ashley comfortable. And they just played with her. They played with her because everything that Stephanie said made her feel comfortable. Safe. As soon as they walked into this board room meeting, Ashley was on her own completely. And she was threatened, and there was no… there was no compassion. There was no sympathy. There was nothing.”

Cara also mentioned that Ashley had some support within WWE but those who were sympathetic to her had no notable power to stop WWE from pressuring her to keep quiet.

“Right before she walked into that boardroom, she talked to the locker room doctor who was aware of everything and she was actually very sympathetic to her but he had no pull. He gave her the advice that he could, but that was it.”

    Responding to John Lauriniatis

While WWE claimed at the time of her death that they were unaware of the alleged assault, John Lauriniatis recently claimed that most upper-level management were aware of the allegations. Pipia was asked about John Lauriniaitis’ statement, and how it feels to hear a former WWE exec say people knew of the allegations after years of WWE claiming that was not the case.

It’s about time somebody had a conscience. Because there was never a single moment of time that I didn’t believe a word that Ash had told me.”

    A Message to Vince McMahon

When asked what she’d say to Vince McMahon, Pipia made her point perfectly clear.

“‘Shame on you. How do you look at yourself?’ Obviously, he’s got problems. Obviously, he’s a sexual deviant. He needs help, he’s not well. The problem is that people with that kind of sickness and that mindset are power, why do they thrive for so long?

Why doesn’t anybody stand up? Why are there so many people in that company aware of what’s going on to all these women? Women who keep committing suicide year after year after year. And nobody stands up and says anything. Nobody tries to protect these young women? Why? Because it’s not just Vince, it’s the whole frickin’ company!”

In her final question, Pipia was asked if she believes the alleged assault on Massaro contributed to Ashley’s suicide and said “99%. Absolutely.”

  • Ashley Massaro Says Vince McMahon Sexually Preyed On Women in Previously Unreleased Statement

Ashley Massaro Says Vince McMahon Sexually Preyed On Women in Previously Unreleased Statement

Ashley Massaro saw Vince McMahon act inappropriate with women and made her uncomfortable, a previously unreleased statement from the late wrestler claims.

Before her death in 2019, Massaro claimed that she had been sexually assaulted during an overseas tour for WWE, but that the company pressured her to keep quiet. WWE management has always denied any knowledge of Massaro’s claim. This month, a representative for former WWE executive John Lauriniatis has claimed that higher-ups were aware of the alleged incident.

    Ashley Massaro’s Statement

The Massaro allegations have received new attention given the ongoing lawsuit against Vince McMahon by former WWE employee Janel Grant. In a previously unreleased statement now shared by Vice, Massaro alleges that McMahon was inappropriate with women, including herself following her Playboy magazine release.

“During my time with the WWE, I had observed Vince McMahon making-out with other divas in the locker room, but he never paid attention to me, and I assumed I was not his type. This changed after my Playboy cover was released. I was fortunate enough to be allowed to fly on the company jet and stay at the same hotels as the executives for a period of time so that I could get home faster to spend more time with my daughter.

“On one of these occasions, Vince was attempting to get me alone with him in his hotel room late at night and I felt extraordinarily uncomfortable. He began calling the hotel room phone and my cell phone nonstop. I called Kevin Dunn to explain the situation and he said I should tell Vince I was not feeling well and would see him on TV the next day, so I did.”

Massaro claims that her attempts to rebuff the Chairman led to McMahon making efforts to sabotage her career.

“Immediately after that night, Vince started writing my promos for me. Vince does not write promos for female wrestlers—that is the job of the creative department—and he certainly wouldn’t have, under any normal circumstances, written a promo for me. But he did, and the promos were written with the clear intention of ruining my career.

“I brought the first script Vince wrote for me to the WWE employee in charge of Creative at the time, Michael Hayes, and he said, ‘you’re not saying this, who the [expletive] wrote this?’ and I told him that Vince did. He said, ‘Well kid, these are the breaks,’ meaning that Vince wanted to end my career and destroy my reputation on my way out.

McMahon wasn’t just satisfied with trying to sabotage Massaro’s career, as the late wrestler claims he would also be inappropriate when passing.

“He is known for this type of behavior and also did this to [REDACTED] upon her departure from WWE. In addition, after that night, each time I walk by him he would make vulgar sexual comments that were clearly designed to make me uncomfortable.”

McMahon has denied all allegations against him made in Janel Grant’s lawsuit. John Lauriniatis has claimed that he is a victim, not a predator, in this situation.

  • John Laurinaitis Says WWE Knew About Ashley Massaro’s Assault Claim

John Laurinaitis Says WWE Knew About Ashley Massaro’s Assault Claim

John Laurinaitis, or at least his attorney, isn’t done with the media despite stating his claims against WWE would be handled in court rather in the public news cycle and the latest invovles the tragedy of Ashley Massaro.

Back in 2019, the attorney of the late Massaro issued a sworn affidavit stating that she was raped by a doctor in Kuwait while on tour with WWE. The accused doctor identifed as someone with the military and both Vince McMahon and Laurinaitis were allegedly aware of the situation.

WWE did release a statement back in 2019 after the affidavit was released denying that McMahon or WWE management were made aware of Massaro’s accusations.

“At no time was Vince McMahon or the management of WWE ever informed by Ashley Massaro or anybody else that she had been sexually assaulted, drugged, raped or sodomized by a military doctor with a nurse standing guard while on a goodwill tour in 2007 to U.S. military bases in Kuwait.

“At no time was there ever a meeting with Vince McMahon, Kevin Dunn, John Laurinaitis or other company executives in which she told them of such a claim and was instructed to keep it quiet.”

A new report from VICE has Laurinaitius’ lawyer, Edward Brennan, stating that his client was aware, but dismissed anything resembling a cover-up.

“Any allegations that Mr. Laurinaitus helped to cover up an alleged rape allegation is an outright lie. Johnny, like most upper level management at sometime became aware of the allegations and ensured all proper WWE protocols were followed, including privacy for the alleged victim. We object to the use of the term cover up as no such plan or plot ever took place to hide or assist in the alleged rape.”

Massaro unfortunately passed away in 2019 after an apparent suicide.

If you or a loved one is a victim of sexual assault, you can contact the RAINN hotline at 800.656.HOPE (4673).

  • Ashley Massaro Joins Concussion Lawsuit, Alleges WWE Told Her Not to Report Sexual Assault

Ashley Massaro Joins Concussion Lawsuit, Alleges WWE Told Her Not to Report Sexual Assault

On Wednesday, WWE filed a 335 page amended complaint in Laurinaitis v. World Wrestling Entertainment, the lawsuit backed by lawyer Konstantine Kyros that alleges not just claims over brain injuries, but also misclassification as independent contractors and WWE being a racketeering scheme. Most notably, there are several new plaintiffs who have joined the lawsuit, and The Boston Globe ran a feature on some of the new accusations on Saturday afternoon. The new plaintiffs are Ashley Massaro, Perry Satullo (Perry Saturn), David Silva (Sylvano Sousa), Johnny Jeter, Charles Scaggs (2 Cold Scorpio/Flash Funk), Chad Wicks, the estate of John Rechner (Balls Mahoney).

The most attention-grabbing allegations, which headlined the Globe article, came from Massaro, Besides the various allegations related to in-ring injuries, including that she was completely untrained when she had her first WWE match, Massaro alleges that “she was sexually assaulted on a military base in Kuwait” during a “WWE Middle East tour.” According to Massaro, when she got back to the United States, “she was seen by [WWE’s] Dr. [Ferdinand] Rios who interviewed her about the incident.” She says that after the doctor “reported the incident to WWE executives,” they met with her to “apologize for their negligence but persuaded her that it would be best not to report it to appropriate authorities.”

The complaint has no further details about the sexual assault allegation, like if Massaro was accusing a co-worker or a member of the military. WWE not being called out by Kyros for a cover-up does suggest the latter, though. It looks like Massaro is referring to a June 2006 tour where she was joined by Maria Kanellis, Jimmy Hart, and Ron Simmons. When the Globe asked WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt for comment on Massaro’s allegations, he did not refer to them directly, instead directing them to Judge Vanessa Bryant’s comments in dismissing Kyros’ wrongful death lawsuits against WWE a few days ago.

Among the other new allegations in the complaint:

    • Kyros alleges that WWE never directly sent him the paperwork showing that 19 of the wrestlers had signed some kind of agreement releasing WWE from future claims.
    • Mark “Henry Godwin” Canterbury’s section of the complaint has been rewritten to explain the context of the release he signed in June, which part of the procedure for him being admitted into drug rehabilitation on WWE’s dime. From the complaint: “The document disavows any duty to Canterbury, seeks to make Canterbury’s entry into Rehab contingent on him not being able to cite the WWE’s rehab payment in any legal proceedings, and seeks to release the WWE from any personal injury claims.” It had been suspected that some wrestlers who WWE had sent to rehab had signed such agreements, but this is the first time it’s been confirmed publicly. Canterbury “states he believed it was paperwork for the facility.”
    • Kyros is now attempting to tie work for WCW and ECW into the allegations, arguing that WWE is their legal successor. Technically speaking, WWE only bought WCW’s assets (the company continued existing under a new name to fulfill legal obligations) and ECW’s intellectual property. In an email, he explained the legal strategy by saying that the legal concept of “successor liability” is “used to prevent companies from transferring only assets and not liabilities” and it’s “widely used in asbestos litigation for occupational diseases that developed many years later from acquired companies.”

WWE will likely address the new allegations in some form when they move to dismiss the lawsuit.

  • Nash On Why He’s Barely Aged, Ex-Diva Appears At WWE Show

    — Speaking to WWE Magazine, Kevin Nash explains why he has managed to withstand father time, which has allowed him to secure plum roles in the image-conscious WWE at the age of 52.

“I’ve been blessed with Indian heritage, and I haven’t aged much facially. And keep in mind the fact I’m talking to you in front of the gym. I go to the gym everyday. I eat a clean diet. Today, I weighed 282 pounds, and I haven’t weighed that since I was 22 years old,” says the six-time world champion.

“People who had seen me with gray hair thought I was so old. Then, when I dyed it they said, “Oh wow, he doesn’t look that old anymore.” But here’s what I don’t understand: We have a segment sponsored by Just for Men, and the fans chant it when I came out and they’re not doing something. I just don’t get it. Does anyone not see the correlation there? Wouldn’t it be more advantageous for them to put my beard and mustache on and say, “Hey, you’re up next,” and I do a five-minute cover-my-gray routine in front of the camera? But no, they leave it to the Madison Avenue guys.”

Nash will face Triple H tomorrow night at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs in a Sledgehammer Ladder Match.

  • Sunny Trashes Ashley Massaro On Facebook, Ashley Responds

Tammy “Sunny” Sytch trashed Ashley Massaro on Facebook after she failed to introduce herself to the WWE Hall of Famer this past weekend at a collectible memorabilia and media star show in Boston, Massachusetts.

The 2005 Diva Search winner was made aware of her inflammatory remarks and fired back on Twitter. Massaro explained that she did not introduce herself to Sytch due to previous insults.

Massaro writes, “Just a few words I’d like to share. This may be a bit long so bare with me. When I arrived at WWE I ALWAYS greeted every single talent there with the utmost respect and made it a point to shake hands and greet everyone my entire tenure. NOW when some piglet talks smack about myself and half the divas roster, and then gets bothered by the fact that I did not do the same after she bashed myself and my friends, she can go eat another meatball sub and stay the f away from me.

“Do you honestly think I respect you after the things you said? Well I don’t and I hope I’ve made that clear. Mind your own life and I’ll do the same. You got a problem HIT ME UP! Don’t cowardly talk about me on your Facebook or in interviews.

“Get a life you beached whale and stop with the jealousy because I see right through you. I love my life, my fans, my punx and my family. You’re just pissed because the rest of us you tried to throw under the bus haven’t gained 70 pounds. So hate on hater, I’ll be happy living my life and laughing at your poor attempts to make others feel bad. You make yourself look so foolish talking bad about others. Get some self confidence and maybe a diet. Lol.”

Massaro then retweeted twenty anti-Sytch remarks and closed, “Ok I’m done. I have no time for talking about this loser, too much positivity in my life to focus on. But if she wants a war, you know where to find me.”
