Batista On Why He Left WWE & Will Never Return Fulltime

Former WWE Superstar Batista recently spoke with The Sun and opened up about his unhappiness in WWE and why he’ll never return to WWE again full time. Here are some highlights of what Batista said about:

Why he left WWE: “The reason I left was the PG direction the company took, it got too corny for me. I was a hug fan of the edgy era of DX, Stone Cold Steve Austin and those guys. The change in direction really ruined it for me. It’s well recorded I’m not a fan of the likes of John Cena or The Miz. It’s such a different company these days and not in a good way.”

Turning down Tough Enough: “I’ve no plans to return anytime soon. I was offered the job of working on Tough Enough, I just didn’t think it was for me. I hear it went well with Steve Austin and good luck to them. I need to be excited by a project and I didn’t feel that way about Tough Enough.”

Returning to WWE: “If I did return to the WWE, it would be for a run not just a one-shot deal. I’d have to be a constant for them not someone who drifts in and out to boost ratings. If I did I’d love to work with Triple H again or Undertaker. They are the best workers there in my opinion and they’d make it worthwhile to return. The show would have to change though, so I can’t see my return being anytime soon can you?”

Journey 2 Gets A Harsh Review, Batista Lands Big Movie Role

– The Associated Press has issued a negative review of The Rock’s new movie Journey 2. AP movie writer David Germain wrote the following about The Rock’s performance:

“[Journey 2]  lacks the likable goof factor of Brendan Fraser, who starred in the first movie but isn’t back for the second. Dwayne Johnson steps in this time, and while he tries to yuck it up amid the nonstop action, he’s just not a goofball on the order of Fraser, who somehow can make extreme silliness palatable with that big, simpering grin of his. Johnson, on the other hand, merely simpers.”

“Johnson stars as ex-Navy guy Hank, stepfather to troublesome teenager Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson, reprising his role from the first “Journey”).”

“Size matters to the filmmakers here, which might be why they signed up Johnson, a co-producer as well as star, who strains for some laughs with an overdone gag about his massive pectoral muscles.”

Overall, the reviewer said the film is hampered by weak dialog and over-the-top gimmicky 3D effects. “If only the movie had the hint of a brain.”

– Former WWE wrestler Batista (Dave Bautista) has signed on to star in the third installment of the Riddick film series. The movie also stars Vin Diesel, Karl Urban, Jordi Mollà, Matt Nable and Katee Sackhoff.

Batista Rants About Bryan’s Title Win, Curses Out Fans

Click Here for More Recent Pictures of BATISTA

Former WWE superstar Batista tweeted the following about Daniel Bryan’s World Heavyweight title win on Sunday night:

“excuse me! did i hear that right? Daniel Bryan World Heavyweight Champ. ummmmmmm…..ok.”

After Batista’s tweet set off a firestorm of responses from people calling him a hater for apparently not sounding pleased with WWE’s decision to put the World title on Bryan, he replied:

“man did that comment bring the tough guy haters out. well i’m at Gracie Fighter Tampa daily. 6333 s. dale mabry hwy Tampa FL. stop on by”

Shortly thereafter, Batista followed up with the following statement, explaining his relationship with Daniel Bryan and why tweets from haters mean nothing to him:

“so to clear up any misunderstanding about me hating on Daniel Bryan…actually i’ve been a supporter of his for years, unlike most of you Johnny come lately smart mark supporters. we actually had a hell of a match together that was originally supposed to be a squash match until this old broken down ex bodybuilder who never deserved to be champion and only had it handed to me because HHH was my boy…refused to job the kid out because i knew how good he was and wanted to have a f*cking match with him before i left the company. and a hell of a match we had considering where our respective places in the company were at the time. so yes im aware of all of his accomplishments and hard work through out the years and i’m thrilled to death for him….but still…World Heavyweight champ???ummmmmmm…ok. opinions are like *ssholes. my Twitter account,my opinion. and to all the bitch ass haters who just dogged me out and bitched about how horrible i was…..i’ve worked with HHH, the Undertaker,Rey Mysterio,Randy Orton Stone Cold,Edge,John Cena,Chris Benoit,Ric Fucking Flair!!etc.etc.. and they all respected me and my work. Eddie Guerrero respected my work. so don’t expect your little bullsh*t remarks to actually carry any weight. in your b*tch ass faces!! “

Batista Calls Today’s WWE Product Brutal & Unwatchable

Click Here for More Recent Pictures of BATISTA

During an interview with the UK’s Daily Star to promote his new Scorpion King 3 DVD, former WWE superstar Batista had some harsh things to say about today’s WWE product.

Batista, who rose to superstardom right before WWE shifted to the current “PG Era” of programming, says today’s superstars are at a serious disadvantage compared to the previous generation of stars like Steve Austin, The Rock and Triple H.

Here are some highlights of what Batista said about:

The current WWE product: “It’s brutal. I can’t watch it. I can’t connect with it. I no longer know this business. I don’t do PG wrestling.”

The Miz and today’s Superstars: “Love me or hate me, when I was there everyone took one look at me and knew I could beat someone up. I don’t think they look at Miz that way. It’s sad. It’s not their fault. These days the guys have their hands tied, they are so limited in what they can do.”

“The difference is that guys like Rock, Austin, Triple H, excuse me, but they had to have the living sh*t beat out of them to get where they are. They went through war and the audience knows it and the audience appreciates it. The guys today will never get to that level. It’s sad, but that’s the reason for it.”

Strong words from the former WWE superstar. Hit up the comments below and tell us what you think about his views on today’s WWE product:

  • DISCUSSION: Are this generation’s superstars (CM Punk, The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan, Jack Swagger) at a serious disadvantage because of the lack of violence, profanity and sexual content on WWE programming – or is it the lack of character development, rewarding storylines and overall bad writing from the creative team?

JR Blog: Jericho-Batista’s Futures, FCW Talent, Angle-Olympics

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with another blog update, which you can read in its entirety over at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:

Scouting Talent at FCW Last Week: “My most recent trip to FCW in Florida was good. WWE has several, potential main eventers that are being groomed as we speak. No one candidate sticks out head and shoulders above the rest but there are many athletes that I feel will be in the hunt for a WWE roster spots sooner than later… I hope to get more involved in WWE developmental as it’s an exciting time with which to be involved in the process. Nothing is more important for WWE’s long term success than developing tomorrow’s stars and then being ready to fully utilize them once that they are called up to the big time.”

Kurt Angle’s Olympic Hopes: “Is Kurt Angle serious about trying to make the US Olympic Wrestling team? Absolutely serious according to Jerry Brisco. Kurt visited Jerry Brisco while Jerry was in a Pittsburgh hospital recently and re-enforced such with Brisco with who Angle is still close. Jerry was a coach/mentor to Kurt during Angle’s WWE run. BTW, Jerry is feeling MUCH better after having two stents put in his neck area for two, seperate blockages that had previously gone undetected.”

Chris Jericho & Batista’s WWE Futures: “Do I think that Chris Jericho and Dave Batista have wrestled their last matches in WWE? No…but that may simply be my personal, wishful thinking. Few performers want to walk away when there’s gas left in the tank and with good paydays to be earned. Plus, being on WWE TV is a global marketing tool that furthers other endeavors. Just my two cents and, again, because I like both men’s work it may be simply wishful thinking on my part.”

Batista Rips John Cena For Killing Edgy Wrestling

Former WWE superstar Batista appeared on The Chad Dukes Wrestling Show this week and said John Cena killed “hardcore, edgy” pro wrestling:

“I think, you know, they did the whole PG direction thing, I think that works for Cena; the little kids love him, cause he’s a great character, he’s someone they can look up to. The girls love him, good looking guy, says all the right things, does all the right things, but the hardcore fans can’t stand him. He is Mr. Hokey, Mr. PG… to me; he killed hardcore, edgy wrestling.”

Batista also commented on his feud with John Cena towards the end of his WWE run. Batista said he was the one booked as the heel, but he had to work extra hard to get booed, because some fans hate John Cena so much:

“I was playing the part of the heel, but they were still booing the hell out of Cena. I really had to go that extra step to be a heel against this guy.

Most people within WWE expect Jericho to return soon and get back to “sports entertaining” the WWE Universe.

Dave Bautista Posts Blog Remembering Eddie Guerrero

Today marks the six-year anniversary of the passing of Eddie Guerrero. He was found unconscious in his hotel room in Minneapolis, Minnesota, by his nephew, Chavo. Chavo attempted CPR, but Eddie was pronounced dead when paramedics arrived on the scene. He was thirty-eight years old. An autopsy revealed that Eddie died as a result of acute heart failure due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Dave Bautista posted a lengthy statement on Twitter remembering his fallen friend, who he was aligned with on television during his final days. The multi-time champion also takes a shot at WWE during his piece.

Bautista wrote, “Got a text from my homie @sonnyblowdro when I woke up asking me if I was ok, I assumed he was referring to Manny’s fight last night. I automatically got defensive!! Styles make fights! Manny always has trouble with Marquez!! He still won!! Then when he said he wasn’t asking because of Manny I quickly realized that today was Nov.13th….the day Eddie Guerrero was taken from us 6 years ago.

“So I’m in beautiful Tampa, Florida and the sun is shining and weather is perfect but somehow this is a depressing ass day..and I know it is for alot of other people as well. I think what bothers me most is that I never really got that chance to tell Eddie what a huge impact he made on my life and my career. Honestly, even if I had the chance to tell him, it still wouldn’t have made it any easier because the fact is that I loved the hell out of Eddie and it just plain sucks that he’s not here anymore!

“As plain as day I can still hear Angie scream and then look at me and say “i just got a message from Dr.Rios…..Eddie’s dead”. I wish I could erase that from my memory. I haven’t found closure on this. I don’t think I ever will. I know alot of people won’t. It bugs the shit out of me that there’s millions of young wrestling fans who won’t get to see how brilliant Eddie was in the ring. He’s the only guy I know who could have you in tears laughing and then make you want to rip his head off within minutes. What I personally loved most about Eddie was that he didn’t define people by their mistakes. he made alot and he never forgot that. He didn’t pass judgement…which is so common in the HOLIER THAN THOU world of the WWE.

“Eddie was also the slowest walking human being alive…which always amused the hell out of me for some reason. I don’t know how he ever got anywhere!! I could go on and on but I’ll end it by saying this. Eddie..I miss you, I love you, and you are gone but never forgotten. RIP my brother.”

Shelly Martinez & Serena Discuss Having Closure With Wrestling

Shelly Martinez discussed in the latest edition of her Fun Time Radio podcast (available here) how seeing Dave Bautista Monday night at the film premiere for Immortals in Los Angeles, California gave her so much closure with the ugliness of the wrestling world.

Shelly said of the meeting, “I just went up to him and I said “Oh my gosh, hey, what’s up” and he looked so shocked to see me. Of course, the last time he saw me he was yelling at my face and I slapped his hand out of my face—that was the last time I saw him. So I gave him a big hug and I was like “positive energy to you and vibes and keep doing what you’re doing, you look great” and it was well received—he still looked tripped out though.

“So then, when I was in the car, I was sharing with Stacy (her friend) that dream I had I talk about in my Highspots shoot. I had this dream that I was with Dave and I didn’t know if I was at wrestling show—it looked like a hotel lobby. Which is interesting because when I was looking for him, that’s what it looked like. Tripped me out! I’m telling you, crazy. So then, when I had the dream and we were talking, he had to go to his room and I had to tell him something. So I went looking for his room and I knew which one was his in my dream because there was a ball of string neatly put together and in my dream I remember looking at it saying that’s wrestling. And prior to seeing him, I was telling somebody how my goal was to be in WWE—I did it. And now I’ve learned so much, I’ve had so much closure, especially after the whole tweeting thing with Dave that wrestling for me now is fun again.

“When I went to these shows in Virginia, I had fun. It almost made me feel like when I first started wrestling and did indies and I was really excited to be at the shows. I really wanted to do well. I wanted to have good matches, but not good matches in the sense that like “I’m a wrestler, so I had to be technical,” no, it’s performance-wise. I just remember when I was Desire back in the day, that’s how I felt. I remember feeling that rush and that’s what it got me into it. So I really think I was able to have closure, I was able to enjoy my matches more and that’s what wrestling’s about.”

Shelly was joined by Serena Deeb, who shared similar sentiments regarding the wrestling industry after being released from WWE last year.

Serena says, “It’s been about a year-and-a-half for me since my release from WWE and throughout the year-and-a-half, I’ve had more of mix of emotions than ever before. It too was my childhood lifelong dream to be in WWE and everything that I did before I got there was to get there. Every move that I made in my professional life, everything was to get there. And then afterwards it’s like, you kind of have to refocus your energy because your energy was directed there forever.

“For some people it’s scary. For me, I went through a really tough time at the beginning, but I’ve done more growing up this year than in my whole life combined. The past year-and-a-half of my life I have become a completely different person and I’m really proud of the person that I am right now.”

She continued, “I was really young throughout my experience with WWE and I made some mistakes, but there were times when I was not necessarily proud of who I was as a person. And I think it took that for me to being able to stand here looking at myself in the mirror today and be the woman that I am because I’m actually really, really happy that I went through that roller coaster ride.”

Batista & Ariel Bury The Hatchet, Boogeyman To Face Zombie

— Shelly Martinez (a/k/a Ariel) stated on Twitter that she received closure with Batista, who she met for the first time since her departure from WWE over four years ago Monday night at the film premiere for Immortals (held at NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE. in Los Angeles, California).

She tweeted the the following image of herself with the former WWE Champion at the event. The caption reads: “Omg this is called peace & closure.”

In May 2007, Martinez took exception to Batista verbally abusing Melina, her close friend and who he was dating at the time. The two engaged in a heated verbal exchange backstage at a WWE live event, which Martinez has said led to her departure from the organization.

— In a battle of former WWECW talent, The Boogeyman will face The Zombie on Friday, November 18 for National Wrestling Superstars at Kearny High School inn Kearny, New Jersey. They will also wrestle the following day in Edison, New Jersey. Click here for event information.

Batista Joining The Cast Of Vin Diesel’s Latest Movie

Horror movie website Bloody-Disgusting.com is reporting that former WWE wrestler Dave Batista has been offered a role in the upcoming Universal Pictures film Riddick, starring Vin Diesel.

Directed by franchise creator David Twohy, Riddick will be the third installment of the Pitch Black / Chronicles of Riddick series. Aside from Vin Diesel and Karl Urban, other rumored cast members include Andreas Apergis, Katee Sackhoff (White Noise 2: The Light, Growl, The Haunting in Georgia) and Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall, Devil).

It’s worth noting that TMZ.com reported last week that production on the latest Riddck has been shut down due to Vin Diesel’s One Race Films production company failing to pay the owners of the Montreal studio where the movie is being shot, as well as members of the crew.
