Batista Opens Up About His Rocky Relationship With His Father

Former WWE Superstar Batista recently joined former WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia on her podcast, Chasing Glory, to talk about a variety of different topics. “The Animal” opened up about his battle with social anxiety, why his mother feared for him growing up, and his rocky relationship with his father. You can check out the highlights from their conversation here below:

Battling Social Anxiety:

“Wrestling really brought me out of my shell…But I wish when I was younger I hadn’t been so ashamed. I wish I would’ve embraced it more because it’s okay, and I find out more, all the time, that a lot of actors are the same way. They get anxiety and get self-conscious, and get insecurities about their performances.

“And I think if people hear more from that – from people, especially someone like me who succeed in these entertainment fields – they can see that I am someone who is like that as well. Then, they will just be more accepting and just be okay with it. Because there’s more people like that than you would think.”

Why his mother feared for him growing up:

“My mom felt that if I stayed out there in the city, where I was running with gangs and everything, that I was going to end up dead. That’s what the crowd that I was falling in with – I mean, I was young. She was getting calls from jail, from police saying, ‘Come pick up your son.’ And really young – twelve, thirteen years old.

“I was hanging around with gangs. I was fighting, stealing cars, joy riding them, just young little criminals. And I was just living that street life. I wasn’t going to school. I was in the front door, out the back. Just up to no good.”

His rocky relationship with his father:

“My father was never really there for me…It’s something that’s a little weird because we had a long talk about it when I was older. I had already been wrestling, so I was in my late thirties, and we had a talk about it, and he was just bent out of shape [about] why I wasn’t more respectful of him and why I didn’t give more to him.

“And I told him it was just because he was never there for me, so I don’t have that, you know, that father-son connection with him. He’s just kind of some guy that I’ve known. You know, he was barely ever there for me. He’s never done anything for me. He’s never really even given me any fatherly advice. I just don’t know him at all; he’s really a stranger to me.”

Ric Flair Talks Partying With Randy Orton & Batista

WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair was recently a part of the WWE Network exclusive show Table For 3, alongside Randy Orton and Bruno Sammartino, to talk about his time in the industry. You can check out some of the highlights here:

Partying with Randy Orton and Batista during their days in Evolution:

“I used to be able to get him. Now, he’s all calmed down, when I was hanging out with him and Batista, I had more fun. Hunter was always kind of… he had his own thing, but [Orton] and Dave [Batista] had a whole different gig going on. Two young, handsome guys. I’d just take Batista to the bar and he’d take his shirt off for all the chicks!” Flair added, “I was living my life vicariously through these two guys!”

Wanting Orton to retire soon so he can get his third Hall Of Fame ring:

“Well, here’s the deal. I want you to retire as soon as you can. God knows you’ve got enough money, okay? So I can get my third [WWE Hall Of Fame] ring when they induct Evolution, okay?”

WWE Issues Statement on Toddler’s Death After Having ‘Batista Bomb’ Performed on Her

There’s a reason the WWE avidly promotes ‘Don’t Try This At Home’ ladies and gentleman. FOX 2 is reporting that a couple was arrested for the death of 2-year-old Addie Cook after the child had wrestling moves, which included a ‘Batista Bomb’ performed on her. The girl’s mother, who is 19 years of age, Cheyenne Cook and her boyfriend Richard Gamache Jr. (24-years-old) were arrested for the murder of young Addie, who showed prior signs of abuse in addition to digital evidence.

The couple reportedly tried to cover up the digital evidence that was found, and it was revealed that Gamache had repeatedly abused the child while Cook stood by and did nothing. Gamache is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond and is charged with abuse of neglect of a child, while Cook is on a $2,500 cash-only bond under charges of endangering the welfare of a child.

The WWE had this to say about the ordeal:

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic death and hope that the guilty parties are brought to justice,” the company stated. “There is no excuse or justification for the brutal and ultimately fatal beating of a 2-year-old child by a grown man. This is a clear case of criminal intent and a lack of parental supervision.”

Batista Marks 15 Years Since His WWE Debut, First Look At WWE 24: Finn Balor

– Today (May 9th) marks 15 years since Batista’s WWE television debut. WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon congratulated The Animal on his milestone and got an interesting response from the star of Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2:

https://twitter.com/davebautista/status/862005160360456195

Guardians 2 is already a smash hit. After opening Friday 5/9, the film has already grossed over $431 million worldwide. While doing the media rounds to promote the movie, Batista has said that he’s still interested in pro wrestling, but can’t deal with the ‘BS’ associated with working for WWE.

– Finn Balor is the subject of the latest WWE 24 special, which premieres on the WWE Network next Monday after RAW. The special looks at Balor’s story of triumph and tragedy, namely the shoulder injury he suffered at SummerSlam 2016 and his long road to recovery.

Here’s a first look at what to expect from the special:

Batista: WWE Rejected My Idea To Return, Dealing With the Company Is Just Too Much BS

Batista’s new movie Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2 opens this weekend and it’s already getting strong positive reviews. Guardians 2 is ‘Certified Fresh’ at RottenTomatoes (average critic score of 82%) and Batista is being praised once again for his role as Drax the Destroyer.

As part of the media push to promote the movie, Batista was Chris Jericho’s guest this week on the Talks is Jericho podcast. Of course, Jericho asked Batista if we’ll ever see him in a WWE ring again and Batista gave a surprising answer. The 6-time world champion said there’s one angle that would draw him back to WWE and revealed that he’s actually pitched the idea to Vince McMahon and Triple H.

“I’ve asked, yeah, I’ve asked,” he said. “Well, there’s… I’ve asked for what I want. I’ll tell you and I’ve talked to Hunter about it and I’ve talked to Vince about it. I said I would come back and run a whole program with Hunter. That’s the only thing I’m interested in doing. They’re just not interested in it, you know?”

When asked if he’d return and work with anybody else besides Triple H, Batista said, “At this point, no, because it would be my retirement thing. It would be what I would go out on. I would come back and I’d do a whole program and then I’d be done.”

Since his last run with the company back in 2014, Batista has been very outspoken about the creative process behind the scenes in WWE. He’s said numerous times that he loves pro wrestling, but can’t stand WWE’s writers and storylines. During his chat with Chris Jericho, Batista said “it’s just too much bullsh*t” working for the company.

“Yeah, I miss it a lot. … There’s nothing like it, you know that. There’s just an adrenaline rush that goes along with it. What I don’t miss is the company, to be honest with you. I don’t miss WWE. I miss wrestling, I just don’t miss dealing with the company and its bullshit. Yeah it’s the bullshit man, it’s just too much bullshit.”

– Triple H continued his in-character war of words with Seth Rollins on the most recent edition of FOX Sports’ Wrestling Compadres podcast. When asked about Rollins calling him out, he joked that Rollins must not know where WWE headquarters is located.

None of that stuff bothers me,” Triple H said. “I’m okay with not getting my suit dirty and just sitting in the back a little bit. But at some point in time, be careful what you wish for.”

Batista Responds To Fan Suggestion Of Match With The Rock At Wrestlemania, Plans For Sasha Banks & Nia Jax

A fan on Twitter suggested a Rock vs Batista match at Wrestlemania 33. The fan suggested that Vin Diesel be the special referee. There were reports of The Rock and Vin Diesel arguing on set during the filming of Fast 8. Batista had a funny response to the fan’s suggestion.

https://twitter.com/DaveBautista/status/812863217525489664

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Sasha Banks is going to work an injury angle for a bit and then return to feud with Nia Jax. This is good news given the fact that Sasha Banks has pretty much exclusively fought Charlotte since the brand split. Nia Jax has often not even been featured on Raw. Nia Jax has the potential to be dominant in the Women’s division and Sasha Banks is a terrific choice to have a feud with her. Most of the WWE Universe likes Sasha Banks and Nia Jax could generate some real hatred if she continues to attack Banks while she is injured. We saw a glimpse of what Nia Jax is capable last week on Raw when she had a confrontation with Sasha Banks.

Batista Recalls Being Repeatedly Disrespected By WWE (Audio)

Dave Bautista was the guest of former WWE writer Alex Greenfield on the latest episode of the MLW Writers’ Room podcast. The Writer’s Room is typically a “VIP” show and the second part will be for members only. Head over to MLWRadio.com for details on how you can sign up for only $1.99 a month.

During the 50-minute interview, Batista spoke at length about his displeasure with his most recent WWE run, giving countless examples of why it was a bad experience and why he repeatedly felt disrespected by the company. You can listen to the 50-minute interview below.

Here’s a full recap of the appearance, courtesy of Reddit user GoodGuyRev:

  • Batista was discouraged from the moment he returned. He wanted to come back as a heel and cut a promo in the ring re-introducing himself to the audience, WWE wanted him to be a babyface and brought him back in a segment involving several other people.
  • Looking back, he is not happy with his physique and wishes he would have gotten himself into better shape before returning. In an effort to get more acting gigs, he stayed away from bodybuilding prior to the return.
  • He argued with Vince and creative virtually every day.
  • When he left WWE shortly after WrestleMania XXX, he wanted to return around SummerSlam to cross promote his movie, Guardians of the Galaxy. He spoke to Triple H and Stephanie about it, knowing Guardians would be a major hit and could get WWE some publicity, but they doubted him and completely blew him off. They snidely told him, “We don’t even know if the movie is gonna be any good” and that was the end of it. He felt they didn’t have any faith in him or his potential as an actor.
  • Batista and Randy Orton did a number on Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania, but he couldn’t believe that WWE told Daniel Bryan to no-sell the effects. He felt this buried him and Orton. He was also pissed off The Shield split up literally the night after Evolution them look like a million bucks.
  • He thinks The Shield was split up way too soon. After Evolution made them look like a million bucks, the only thing fans were talking about was his #Bluetista outfit.
  • Batista thinks it became trendy to boo him and he couldn’t understand that. He came back for the fans and had no problem putting guys like The Shield and Daniel Bryan over. He was really confused by the reaction.
  • During his first big run with the company, when he was on par with John Cena, he strongly resented that WWE gave Cena all the movie roles and had nothing for him. Batista saw that WWE wasn’t looking out for him in that way, so he started auditioning on his own in hopes of landing some movie roles. WWE told him, “You are our property. Get dressed and get to work.” He was denied lots of money and opportunities, which is what led to his initial departure.
  • He suffered a broken back in his last match (during his first run) against John Cena.
  • On his last day with WWE (during his first run), virtually nobody said goodbye to him or thanked him for his contributions. Security escorted him out of the arena – no “Let’s keep in touch” or “See you later.” This put everything into perspective.

Batista Takes Shot At Stephanie McMahon On Twitter Over Her “Finishing Move”

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dave Bautista recently took issue with Stephanie McMahon and made his thoughts known in the form of a sarcastic Tweet.

On Wednesday, Stephanie wrote on Twitter that “the slap” is her on-screen character’s finishing maneuver along with a clip of her slapping current WWE champ Roman Reigns. Bautista, known as Batista in WWE, took issue with this and seems to feel that the move buries the company’s actual wrestlers.

Here’s her original tweet and Dave’s reply:

Batista Says Vince McMahon “Double F**ked” Titus O’Neil (Video)

Former WWE Superstar Batista is speaking out once again about Titus O’Neil’s suspension from WWE. Shortly after the incident, Batista revealed on Twitter that he urged Titus to ask for his WWE release due to the way they handled the situation.

https://twitter.com/DaveBautista/status/697585006563217408

TMZ caught up with Batista at the airport this week and the former WWE Champion did not hold back with his thoughts about the company. When asked if this whole thing could have been avoided if wrestlers were unionized, Batista said that will never happen because wrestlers are too expendable.

Batista said Vince McMahon should have simply had a man-to-man conversation with Titus about their physical altercation. Instead, Vince “f**ked him” by suspending him and then “double f**ked him” by keeping him off WrestleMania 32, the wrestlers’ biggest payday of the year. He feels that Titus doesn’t need WWE, he’s there because he loves it and it’s really not right how it all went down.

Plans For WrestleMania Divas Title Match, Batista Blasts Manny Pacquaio (Video)

– The current plan for the Divas Championship match at WrestleMania 32 is for Charlotte to defend the title in a triple threat match. Charlotte is expected to face Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks, according to Dave Meltzer. The finish of the Divas tag match at Fastlane with Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch simultaneously submitting Tamina and Naomi was done to set them both up as challengers to the Divas title.

– TMZ caught up with former WWE Superstar Batista over the weekend and asked him about boxer Manny Pacquaio’s recent comments about gay people. For those who haven’t heard, Pacquaio stated that gay people are “worse than animals.” He would later apologize for that statement. Batista told TMZ,

“My opinion on that is he’s a f***ing idiot .. My mom happens to be a lesbian so I don’t f***ing take that sh*t. I don’t think it’s funny. Put it like this, if anyone called my mother an animal, I’d stick my foot in his ass.”
