Becky Lynch Is Officially A Free Agent As WWE Contract Expires

For the first time since 2013, Rebecca Quinn, better known to the WWE Universe as Becky Lynch, does not have a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. The former Champion’s deal has expired as of midnight on June 1st, 2024, officially making her a free agent.

It was widely speculated that Becky Lynch was planning on taking some time off following her loss to Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 40. However, when Ripley went down with an injury, Lynch was called upon to step up and take on the mantle as the company’s Women’s World Champion.

Lynch lost her title in Saudi Arabia at WWE’s King & Queen Of The Ring PLE to Liv Morgan. On this week’s edition of Monday Night RAW, Lynch lost a Steel Cage match against Morgan, with inadvertent assistance from Dominik Mysterio. This was Lynch’s final WWE match under her previous contract.

According to a report from Fightful Select, despite WWE and Lynch having yet to reach terms on a new contract, the promotion is committed to continuing to work with the 7-time world champion on a new deal. Sources from within WWE noted to the outlet that Lynch has been “class” to work with, and those close to both WWE and Lynch herself do not suspect that she will go to another promotion.

However, it’s expected that the 37-year-old will receive significant offers. Fightful Select reports that Lynch is expected to receive one of the biggest offers in professional wrestling history for female talent.

Lynch commanding big money should be no surprise to anyone. From being The Lasskicker in NXT to becoming the biggest babyface in the promotion, Lynch has always stood as a beacon of quality and hard work. Once considered the “forgotten” member of The Four Horsewomen, Lynch has easily become one of the most well-recognized and respected female stars not only in WWE but throughout the entire professional wrestling industry.

There’s no question that Becky Lynch is one of WWE’s biggest stars of the last decade, and her absence will be felt. No matter how brief a period.

Could Becky Lynch go to another promotion like AEW?

The conversation surrounding Becky Lynch’s contract expiration has unsurprisingly led people to speculate what Lynch could do outside of WWE. To be clear, all current reporting indicates that Lynch will re-sign with WWE at some point, however until pen is put to paper, anything is possible.

One promotion that many fans are pointing to as an alternative option to her former employer is All Elite Wrestling, WWE’s biggest rival in the industry. AEW has shown it’s interest in signing big-name female free agents, including former WWE Superstars Saraya (fka Paige) and Mercedes Moné (fka Sasha Banks).

During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about the possibility of Becky Lynch joining his company. While Khan carefully tiptoed around the subject so as not to find himself “contract tampering,” he did admit that Lynch is a “great star.”

Recently, current AEW star Chris Jericho was asked by TMZ Sports about the prospect of Lynch joining AEW, and here’s what he had to say:

“Five years ago, Becky would have no other options. [I’m] not saying that she’s coming but there is an option and who knows what could happen? No one thought that Jericho would come to AEW. No one thought that Moxley would come or Bryan Danielson or Adam Cole or any of these guys that have come over.

So it’s exciting for the fans. It’s exciting for the wrestlers, the talent, because now suddenly if there’s a bidding war that just benefits us. So I think it’s it’s very important.”

Could we see The Man appear as a full-time star in another promotion? It would certainly be a massive shock, but as we’ve learned in recent years, money talks. Could a promotion like AEW create an enticing deal that Lynch cannot afford to say no? We will have to wait to see how things play out.

Again, it should be emphasized that Lynch was looking to take time off following WrestleMania 40, regardless. So it may be a while before we see The Man pop back up on the wrestling scene for the next chapter of her career.

How Much Do WWE Superstars On The Main Roster Make?

WWE has been doing record business, grossing $1.32 billion in sales last year. The company’s $5 billion deal with Netflix to bring WWE Raw to the streaming platform in January 2025 will bring another massive windfall of cash. However, many fans wonder how much of that trickles down to the athletes we see on television.

Top Superstars spark bidding wars and command multi-million dollar contracts. Setting aside stars like Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair, a new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter sheds light on the current annual baseline.

According to Dave Meltzer, the current minimum salary for WWE Superstars on the main roster is $350,000 per year. Most wrestlers sign multi-year deals, and you can be sure the top stars on each brand are making far more than the minimum. WWE is in a strong position to make lucrative financial offers to talent. However, there’s a trend emerging that should not be ignored.

Numerous Contracts Expiring

WWE is heading into an interesting dilemma as several featured stars on the main roster contract will expire soon. One of the most significant examples is Becky Lynch, who could be a free agent by the end of the week. As of now, it doesn’t seem they have yet to reach a new agreement.

Another talent that could test free agency is Chad Gable. Although he has been heavily featured on Monday Night Raw and involved in a feud with Sami Zayn, his contract will expire at the end of next week

It’s unclear why so many talent contracts are set to expire so soon. Although numerous superstars are near free agency, they may ultimately re-sign with WWE. Wrestling fans should have more clarity soon as the company must expeditiously reach new agreements with their superstars.

Becky Lynch Taking Extended Time Off When WWE Contract Expires

Becky Lynch’s WWE contract is set to expire on Saturday. Following her loss on this week’s WWE Raw, it will probably be quite some time before The Man comes back around. Dave Meltzer addressed Lynch’s situation on Thursday’s Wrestling Observer Radio. With just days remaining on her WWE contract, Lynch is reportedly taking an extended leave of absense.

Her husband Seth Rollins is injured and off the road, so it makes sense for her to at least time some time off. However, Lynch’s situation is more than a vacation.

More on Becky Lynch’s Future

Prior to WrestleMania XL, Lynch told Chris Van Vliet that she wasn’t worried about the fact that her WWE contract was running out. Ariel Helwani later asked Lynch if she’d consider working for other companies. She replied, “I’m with WWE,” but expressed uncertainty about her situation.

Endeavor is handling WWE contracts differently, as seen with Seth Rollins, who re-signed before his contract expired. Lynch’s future remains unclear, but she could become a major free agent in June if WWE doesn’t finalize a new deal.

Tony Khan commented on the possibility of making a play for Lynch, and he made it clear that he will not tamper with her contract. She finished her WWE commitments on Monday’s Raw by losing to Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan in a steel cage match.

Chris Jericho has also given his two cents on the situation, as he said that AEW is now an option for her.

Tony Khan Says He Won’t Tamper With Contract of “Great Star” Becky Lynch

AEW President Tony Khan has a lot of respect for WWE Superstar Becky Lynch but isn’t ready to discuss bringing her to the All-Elite promotion just yet.

Lynch’s contract with WWE is set to expire within a matter of days and while talks are ongoing, a deal is not expected to be reached. On this week’s Raw, Lynch unsuccessfully challenged WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan in the show’s main event. Lynch was visibly emotional after the show as she waved to the fans, which some have taken as a sign that ‘The Man’ is leaving WWE.

With Lynch’s time with WWE coming to an end, many fans are naturally hopeful that she will join AEW and its blossoming women’s division. The All-Elite promotion is already home to notable ex-Superstars including ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm, Saraya, and Mercedes Mone. Appearing on The Rich Eisen Show, Tony Khan was asked about possibly bringing WWE talent on board.

“I don’t want to try to tamper and do those things. I try to keep it classy and I really have a reputation for honesty and I really want to be a fair businessman. The wrestling business is a really cutthroat business.”

When Lynch’s name was brought up, Khan again brought up tampering and isn’t going to discuss signing somebody who for now remains under a WWE contract. With that said, the AEW President agreed with Eisen’s co-host TJ that Lynch is a “great star.”

Tony Khan has a lot of respect for ‘The Man.’

Becky Lynch’s Future

Lynch has been telling those in WWE that she does not plan on joining AEW imminently. The former Women’s Champion is expected to take a break from wrestling for the time being. Despite this, WWE sources are confident a new deal will be reached when the time is right. Whatever comes next, fans will remain intrigued to see what the highly popular WWE Superstar does next.

Chris Jericho: ‘Becky Lynch Has An Option in AEW, Who Knows What Could Happen?’

Chris Jericho can’t say for sure whether Becky Lynch will soon be ‘All-Elite’ but is pleased that there’s a viable alternative for the departing WWE Superstar.

Once she becomes a free agent, it’s virtually guaranteed that Lynch will receive offers with a deal likely from AEW. Speaking to TMZ Sports, Chris Jericho was asked about Lynch and was pleased that ‘The Man’ has an option.

“Five years ago, Becky would have no other options. [I’m] not saying that she’s coming but there is an option and who knows what could happen? No one thought that Jericho would come to AEW. Latest On Becky Lynch: What WWE Has Been Told, Plans After Contract

More has come to light about the contract situation of Becky Lynch as the future of the former Women’s Champion in WWE remains unclear.

Lynch’s contract with WWE is set to expire on June 1, and while the two sides are said to be negotiating, a new deal isn’t believed to have been reached. On this week’s Raw, Lynch lost in the main event to WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan. Lynch was visibly emotional after the match and bowed to the fans, leading some to speculate this was her final match in a WWE ring.

Becky Lynch’s Future

Lynch has not renewed her WWE contract at this time, PW Torch reports, but fans should not expect to see her in another promotion just yet. Contrary to what some have claimed, Lynch does not plan on joining AEW imminently and has made this clear to those in WWE.

Multiple sources state that Lynch does indeed to take a hiatus. It is unclear whether this break will be to spend more time at home with her family or if it is out of frustration with her contract situation with WWE. Lynch became a mother to her daughter Roux in late 2020.

Becky Lynch’s contract with WWE will expire within days.

A colleague of Lynch told PW Torch that the former Women’s Champion will return to WWE someday and is confident that a deal can be worked out. This belief is galvanized by the fact that Lynch’s husband Seth Rollins competes for WWE and her re-signing would keep the couple together on the road. With all that said, Lynch is of the view that her body and mind could use a break right now.

Watch: What Happened With Becky Lynch After (5/27) WWE Raw Went Off The Air

Becky Lynch was understandably emotional after this week’s Raw went off the air as rumors continue to circulate regarding her future as a WWE Superstar.

In the main event of the May 27, edition of WWE Monday Night Raw, Lynch lost in a steel cage match to new WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan. The chaotic finish of the match saw Dominik Mysterio come out seemingly to help Lynch but inadvertently cost her the match. After her victory, the celebratory Morgan kissed ‘Dirty Dom.’

After Raw, Lynch was visibly emotional as the fans applauded her efforts in the show’s main event. The Man waved to the fans in gratitude before making her way to the backstage area.

Lynch was fighting back tears and that may be because this match was her last as a WWE Superstar. Lynch’s contract with WWE is set to expire mere days from now on June 1. While the two sides are said to be in negotiations it is not known where a new deal has been reached or is even close to being reached. Lynch has previously said that she would likely re-sign with WWE but her future with the company remains increasingly uncertain.

More Contract News

Lynch isn’t the only WWE Superstar who could find herself as a free agent very soon. WWE veteran Natalya reportedly is nearing the end of her contract and the former SmackDown Women’s Champion is said to be weighing up his options. The contract of Dijak is said to expire in just over a month. Dijak was called up to Monday Night Raw in the 2024 WWE Draft but he has yet to compete on the red brand.

Becky Lynch Gets Cryptic About Future Following 5/27 WWE Raw

Becky Lynch was unable to re-gain her WWE Women’s World Championship and it could be quite some time until ‘The Man’ comes around again in WWE.

Lynch reportedly remains without a new deal in WWE and her contract with the company is set to expire this weekend. That being said, Becky battled Liv Morgan in a steel cage in the main event of the 5/27 episode of WWE RAW. However, she came up on the losing side of things when Dominik Mysterio yet again got involved, helping Morgan retain her gold before the two revealed they were in canoodling cahoots as Liv and Dirty Dom shared a kiss to close the show.

With news of her contract ending, speculation amongst fans runs rampant as to what Lynch’s future holds in WWE, let alone pro wrestling. Lynch has expressed how much she loves being a mother and if she chose to hang up the wrestling boots, she absolutely could, cementing her legacy in the squared circle. However, retirement doesn’t appear to be her gameplan as following the loss, Lynch took to Instagram to share a photo of herself walking away, but with the simple caption of “To be continued.”

Lynch doesn’t join a crop of top talent in WWE to sign new deals with the company. Just recently, it was revealed that Drew McIntyre inked a new contract as did current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest. With the way Lynch has been booked over the course of WrestleMania season, it wouldn’t seem like Becky would bounce over to AEW even if she were to remain un-signed.

Report: Becky Lynch’s WWE Contract Expires This Week

Becky Lynch’s loss of the Women’s World Title to Liv Morgan at King & Queen of the Ring has surprised many fans. They have quickly scheduled her rematch for RAW this week in a steel cage match, bringing her contract status into sharp focus.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that, as of this morning, Becky Lynch and WWE had not yet reached an agreement on a new contract, although they have been in contact. It is unclear if a deal is imminent or if it will affect her match tonight.

Lynch’s current WWE contract is set to expire on June 1, which would make her a free agent unless a new deal is reached. Many in the industry expect Lynch to receive the largest offer ever for a female wrestler.

Beck Lynch Wasn’t Worried

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet before WrestleMania XL, Lynch stated she wasn’t worried about her contract status. When Ariel Helwani asked if she could engage with other companies, she replied, “Ahhh…I’m with WWE,” adding uncertainty about her situation and noting it is uncommon for her not to have a new deal as her current one nears expiration.

Helwani also asked if she felt offended by not having a new deal. Lynch responded confidently, “At this stage in the game, contrary to a lot of the thoughts in this book of where I was coming up, I am so confident in my ability and my worth. Nah, I’m not worried.”

Endeavor is handling WWE contracts differently, as seen with Lynch’s husband, Seth Rollins, who re-signed a new deal before his contract expired. It remains to be seen what will happen with Lynch, but she could become a major free agent in June if WWE does not finalize a new contract.

WWE Abandons ‘Big Time Becks’ Trademark for Becky Lynch

The days of Becky Lynch being ‘Big Time Becks’ are officially over as World Wrestling Entertainment has abandoned its trademark on that particular term.

On May 24, WWE filed paperwork to abandon the trademark for ‘Big Time Becks,’ a former nickname of the popular Raw Superstar. WWE first filed for the term in September 2021 but was opposed nine days after the initial filing. The filing was opposed by James K. Duck, who has a trademark on “Bigtime” when it comes to the world of professional wrestling. Legal proceedings were ongoing as recently as April 1, 2024 over the term.

It’s not a huge surprise to see the ‘Big Time Becks’ name go to the history books. Upon her return to programming at SummerSlam 2021, Lynch established herself as a heel and would develop a vain ‘Big Time’ persona who believed she was the biggest thing in women’s wrestling history. This heel turn saw Lynch at odds with Bianca Belair who dethroned ‘Big Time Becks’ at WrestleMania 38 to win the WWE Raw Women’s Championship.

These days, Lynch is once again a babyface and while she remains one of the top women in WWE (if not wrestling as a whole) she doesn’t feel the need to rub it in the faces of the fans or her fellow Superstars.

Lynch’s Trademark Issues

This isn’t Lynch’s first trademark issue as she/WWE were in a battle with Ric Flair for some time over ‘The Man.’ Lynch began using the term in 2018 though Flair believed that the term was his given his “To be the Man, you’ve got to beat the Man” catchphrase.

Becky Lynch Seeking Championship Rematch After King & Queen Of The Ring

Becky Lynch marched into Saudi Arabia as Women’s World Champions; unfortunately for The Man of WWE, that’s not how she will arrive home. Lynch lost her championship in the opening match of WWE King & Queen of The Ring, however it wasn’t without controversy.

During the match’s closing moments, Becky Lynch looked to have the match well in hand, only to find herself distracted by a lurking Dominik Mysterio. Mysterio, seeking to ensure that Liv Morgan would not win the match, would inadvertently help Morgan secure her second World Championship.

WWE’s Byron Saxton would catch up with Becky Lynch later in the evening, just in time to see an infuriated Lynch going off on Dirty Dom. As Saxton looked to question Lynch about her loss, The Man made it clear that the story between her and new champion Liv Morgan was far from over.

Becky Lynch revealed that she has a rematch clause in her contract and was on her way to speak with RAW General Manager Adam Pearce to make the match official for Monday night. RAW will take place in Savannah, Georgia, on Memorial Day.

While Becky Lynch is looking to utilize her contract to trigger a championship match, the WWE Universe does have questions about her legitimate contract status with the company. According to multiple reports, Lynch’s contract expires in June, and as of this writing, she has not signed a new deal.

Could Becky Lynch’s rematch against Liv Morgan be her final match on Monday Night RAW? It’s unlikely, but we must see how things play out.

Dominik Mysterio Involvement In Liv Morgan’s King & Queen of the Ring Title Win Intensifies Popular WWE Theory

Liv Morgan is now the new WWE Women’s World Champion, but her victory over Becky Lynch came in a controversial manner.

WWE’s King & Queen of the Ring event took place in Jeddah, where it was 92 degrees outside the Jeddah SuperDome and in the mid-70s inside the arena. Despite the cooler temperatures inside, Morgan’s revenge tour was on fire.

Rhea Ripley was WWE Women’s World Champion, but she was put out of action by a backstage attack from Liv Morgan after WrestleMania XL. After that, Morgan’s Revenge Tour intensified, as she went after the now-vacant title. The whole time, Dominik and Morgan have found a reason to cross paths, and these interactions have proven pivotal.

The event began with the Women’s World Title match between Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan. The match had an unexpected ending when Dominik Mysterio got involved, assisting Morgan in securing the win and the title.

During the match, Becky and Liv went back and forth, with a couple of near-falls along the way. Then Dominik appeared at ringside, initially causing a distraction that did not immediately help Morgan win. However, a few moments later, Dominik slid a chair into the ring, which Morgan used to her advantage by hitting a DDT on it while the referee was distracted.

With the referee’s attention back on the match, Morgan executed her Oblivion finisher and secured the pinfall victory. Following the match, Morgan and Dominik celebrated with fireworks in Jeddah, marking her controversial win.

Liv and Dominik

For weeks, some eagle-eyed fans have noticed hints about a connection between Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan. This development has sparked interest among the WWE Universe, especially since Rhea Ripley’s injury, leading to speculation about Morgan and Dominik’s alliance.

During an appearance on The Masked Man show, Dominik addressed the fan theory about him and Morgan. He used the “innocent until proven guilty” way to get out of the question.

“I think at the end of the day, everyone is innocent till proven guilty. And I’m just (…) I’m here protecting Mami. And I’m trying to make sure she’s good when she comes back and that everything is all set in order. She comes back straight to the top. Take her title back, no harm no foul.”

Although Dominik initially said that he was in Saudi to make sure Liv didn’t win the title, the opposite happened instead. Now the discussion among fans who were shipping Dominik and Morgan for a while has only intensified.

Liv Morgan Becomes New WWE Women’s World Champion At King & Queen Of The Ring

Liv Morgan is your new WWE Women’s World Champion after there was some chicanery by Dominik Mysterio.

Lynch and Morgan kicked off the PLE fesitivities for King & Queen Of The Ring as the WWE Women’s World Title match started off the show.

As customary for the WWE women in Saudi Arabia, both Liv and Becky wore full-body attire as Becky donned basically a black tuxedo while Morgan wore a full-body red catsuit.

The fight was even-matched with both the champion and challenger getting the competitive edge. In the match, Liv and Lynch both had their finishers reversed and the live crowd in Saudi were very vocal during the fight.

Lynch and Morgan traded punches before the two traded a series of submissions and pin attempts. Lynch locked Morgan in a Disarmer, but matters changed after Dominik Mysterio entered at ringside through the crowd. That caused Lynch to be distracted and Morgan hit a Codebreaker for a near fall. The fight surprisingly continued.

Lynch hit a superplex and Dom slid in a chair to “assist” Becky, but Morgan ended up hitting an Oblivion on the chair to become the new Women’s World Champion.

Mysterio has been angling that he wanted to look out for Lynch, but Becky has made clear she didn’t want his help. Lynch sure didn’t get it as Morgan has further cemented her “revenge tour.”

Post-fight, Dominik looks despondent as Morgan celebration begins with fireworks. However, this could all be a ploy as there’s been a good deal of teases that Dom and Liv have been hiding a relationship with one another while Rhea Ripley has been out with injury.

WWE Hits A Snag Securing A Lucrative Trademark For Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch has used several nicknames throughout her WWE career, including The Man, which she used during her meteoric rise to the top of WWE. More recently, she’s been going by Big Time Becks, a moniker that takes the confidence of ‘The Man’ and turns the dial up a bit father into the realm of cockiness. Her on-screen character has evolved seamlessly, but ‘Big Time Becks’ may be getting phased out due to WWE’s inability to secure a trademark for the IP.

WWE filed to trademark “Big Time Becks” in September 2021, but this application faced opposition from someone else who felt the name infringed on a mark they had the rights to. Legal proceedings have been ongoing, and the trademark remains listed as “pending” due to these unresolved issues.

‘Big Time’ Roadblock

Here’s a timeline of events that led to WWE’s current legal predicament:

  • In September 2021, WWE filed to trademark “Big Time Becks,” Becky Lynch’s nickname during her heel run.
  • The trademark faced opposition nine days after the filing, with ongoing legal proceedings as recent as April 1, according to public records. A discovery conference was ordered in March.
  • The board recommended using the Accelerated Case Resolution process. Initial disclosures were due May 3, with the process potentially extending to August 2025.
  • According to the motion document, WWE was aware of the Opposer’s “Bigtime” trademark since 2006, when they received a cease and desist.
  • In September 2021, WWE filed the “Big Time Becks” mark. Opposer communicated opposition within nine days.
  • WWE was aware of the opposition and engaged in settlement discussions but did not follow up after March 2022.
  • Opposer filed two Letters of Protest and initiated Opposition Proceedings in November 2023 and WWE missed the deadline for filing an answer to the opposition.
  • WWE claimed the Christmas Day deadline caused the delay, but Opposer argues this is implausible given WWE’s resources and prior notifications.
  • The trademark remains listed as “pending” due to the ongoing legal proceedings.

Previous Nickname Controversies

This isn’t the first time Lynch’s nicknames have faced opposition. Ric Flair previously laid claim to “The Man,” expressing issues with WWE using that moniker for Lynch.

Ric Flair and Becky Lynch’s conflict began in late 2021. Flair accused Lynch of using the nickname “The Man” without his permission. Lynch dismissed the accusation, calling Flair “sad” at one point. This feud was intense but never became a WWE storyline. The behind-the-scenes drama was as engaging as the on-screen action.

Both sides have since reconciled. Becky Lynch and Ric Flair are now on cordial speaking terms. They eventually resolved the matter, and Lynch continues to use “The Man” nickname. You can read all about this settled beef right here:

Johnny Knoxville Keeps His Feud With Sami Zayn Alive, Names Razor Ramon As His Favorite Intercontinental Champion

Johnny Knoxville still thinks Sami Zayn is a jackass.

Knoxville got the better of the current Intercontinental Champion on the major stage of WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, TX, but he didn’t receive as great of an opportunity to air out all his grievances during their program together.

WWE shared a photo of Zayn with his Intercontinental Title with Becky Lynch, who was holding her Women’s World Title gold. This prompted Knoxville to unleash several insults Zayn’s way in the comment section, making clear that he’s way bigger fan of Scott Hall with the Intercontinental Title than Zayn.

“Sami’s the Intercontinental Champion. My favorite Intercontinental Champion will always be Razor Ramon. Sami I doubt you know who he is since you’ve never heard of a razor you hairy f@‘k!”

Knoxville was far from done.

“I hate you as much as you hate going to the gym.

“What a shame, the poor audience had to watch you bomb all night and then get humiliated by me and WeeMan AGAIN! Becky Lynch was terrific though. Why she associates herself with the likes of you I will never know.

“I’d give you the shirt off my back. Just so I don’t have to see all the hair on YOUR BACK!

“Remember when wrestlers used to shave and get tans? Sami certainly doesn’t.

“I didn’t get enough time to get in all my insults so I will get them in here.

“Hey everybody, Sami’s a vegan, just in case you didn’t think he was already annoying enough.

Knoxville couldn’t care less that Zayn is currently a top babyface and made clear to fans that Kayfabe is very much alive in Knoxville’s camp.

WWE King & Queen Of The Ring 2024: Title Matches Confirmed On 5/6 Raw

Liv Morgan will have one more shot at becoming WWE Women’s World Champion when she challenges Becky Lynch at WWE King And Queen Of The Ring.

On the May 6, episode of Raw, it was confirmed that Morgan will challenge The Man at WWE’s next PLE in Saudi Arabia. This has quickly become a very personal feud between the pair, as Morgan was the last woman to be eliminated in the battle royal that saw Lynch capture the title in April

Morgan has made it clear that she believes she deserves to be called WWE Women’s World Champion. After all, it was Morgan who injured Rhea Ripley in an assault that forced Ripley to vacate the title in the first place. Morgan is also the last woman to hold a pinfall victory over the ‘Mami’ of The Judgment Day.

Intercontinental Title Match Announced

Morgan’s title opportunity wasn’t the only match confirmed on the May 6, episode of WWE Monday Night Raw. On the show, ‘Big’ Bronson Reed faced Gad Gable in a match that saw interference from Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn. This would ultimately backfire for the underdog, as Reed would lay out Sami and Gable.

In a backstage interview with Jackie Redmond, Zayn said the only way to settle things is a triple threat match for his Intercontinental Championship. This will mark the first Intercontinental title opportunity at a PLE for both Gable and Reed.

SE Scoops will have full coverage of the King & Queen of the Ring event, as well as tournament matches. Keep checking in ahead of WWE’s next Saudi Arabia event.

Seth Rollins Resurfaces With a New Look At The Kentucky Derby Red Carpet

WWE Superstars Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins walked the red carpet at Saturday’s 150th Kentucky Derby. The race was won by Mystik Dan in a 3-way photo finish.

Seth Rollins has been out of the public eye since WrestleMania 40, where he lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Drew McIntyre. He played a pivotal role in the Bloodline Rules main event between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes, ultimately sacrificing himself to help Cody conquer the Tribal Chief. Since then, Rollins underwent knee surgery and signed a new multi-year WWE contract

On Saturday, Rollins showed up looking dapper as usual and was sporting a different look than we last saw him. It’s hard to see everything going on under that hat, but he’s sporting a very different haircut and has trimmed his beard down to short stubble. Below, you can see photos, along with clips of them talking about the inspiration behind their outfits, the Kentucky Derby and a big announcement – WrestleMania 41 is headed to Las Vegas in 2025.

Becky Lynch, whose contract is also up for renewal, has not yet signed a new deal. She is also taking a hiatus from the company after Mania. In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani before WrestleMania XL, Lynch expressed concern over her contract situation. She’s the new Women’s World Champion after Rhea Ripley had to vacate it due to injury.

WWE or AEW? Analyzing The Pros & Cons For Wrestling’s Top Free Agents

The pro wrestling landscape continues to undergo significant changes. Following WrestleMania, WWE is embarking on the Paul Levesque Era (“PLE” for short), while AEW is navigating towards a potentially transformative period, one they hope will include a new television deal.

Wrestling isn’t as explosively popular as it was in 1998, but The Rock is right that it’s ‘cool again’ and has strutted back into mainstream pop culture. That obviously means good news for fans, but with more than one prominent company now in the mix, that means leverage for the pro wrestling talent.

Wrestlers now have options as to where they can hone their squared circle trade for a good paycheck, meaning a much higher rise in competition for those coveted spots. 2024 also is a big free agent year for stars with major names’ contracts due to expire. However, depending on where a talent is at in their careers one promotion could provide a greater benefit than the other.

A Big Boom For Becky Lynch In 2024

Mercedes Mone inked a “CEO” like type deal with AEW, almost two years after walking out on WWE. That meant a new horizon and big money for the former Sasha Banks. A former colleague of hers Becky Lynch could be in a similar position in 2024, but ‘The Man’ has made clear that she aims to be a WWE lifer. Lynch would likely not increase her star power by jumping ship to AEW, but she could find herself affected in other manners.

Money is a major aspect, but Becky’s also a mom with a resume. Will Ospreay made clear that a big incentive for him signing with AEW was the lighter schedule and Becks life outside the ring could benefit from that. Additionally, there’s something to be said for new scenery. Even if AEW didn’t make the most of Lynch, her being shown under a new light could create even greater intrigue when she does ultimately make her way back to WWE: ask Cody Rhodes. You can potentially even ask someone like Wardlow, too, who is still starting his career.

Drew McIntyre Is Exactly Where He’s Supposed To Be In WWE

Drew McIntyre is a name with plenty of cache following WrestleMania considering this run of his has creatively been his greatest to date. One would have to assume Triple H and he at the very least have a handshake agreement at re-signing. Aside from a very large paycheck, there’s almost zero incentive for him to make the leap to AEW. Considering what his character has done to fan the flames of CM Punk’s past with the company, it’s pretty evident Drew is well aware of that too.

Veteran Names With Star Power

What about big name veterans like Matt Hardy or Rob Van Dam? The former just recently announced his free agency and then signed with TNA while the latter for years has been fully embracing his independent contractor status. Van Dam just appeared 4/20 edition of AEW Collision, but on the latest episode of “1 Of A Kind” made note that he’s up for a WWE return. That however, would likely only happen if they’d call him, not the other way around. RVD is comfortable where he’s at in life that he’s the one to make the choice he wants: and that’s the “when,” “where” and “why.”

Matt however, has a different mindset after being with AEW full time for four years. The eldest Hardy has whipped himself up in terrific shape and clearly wants to make the most of his remaining time in the squared circle. Matt had the option to sign a new deal with AEW but chose not to and instead signed with TNA. Fom a creative perspective that makes sense. Unfortunately, fans didn’t see a good deal of Hardy on AEW TV in 2024 and it seems Matt is looking for that opportunity.

WWE would benefit on several levels in getting Hardy back under their umbrella as he could be an active talent, but in turn be a great help behind the scenes. TNA and Hardy hooking back up ultimately makes sense considering the transcendent run he last had with the company.

A Young Talent On The Rise Looking For Opportunity

What if you’re a younger talent looking for that big break with an AEW or WWE? Anthony Catena is one of those names on the rise as he’s been active with the NWA, AAW Pro and the UK. He just recently found himself on the WrestleMania stage in Philadelphia during the Drew McIntyre entrance.

“Once that’s achieved everything that subsequently follows – money, recognition, etc – will naturally come with it. WWE has a very long track record of, not only creating stars, but providing them an opportunity to explore other areas of entertainment to potentially excel in that realm as well. AEW, albeit only a few years in, has managed to build a global juggernaut in the pro wrestling industry, which is impressive as well.

“Where it all comes together for me is where I feel I have the best chance at achieving the goals I’ve set for myself/”

To Catena’s point, opportunity can lead to presence and if AEW were to scoop him up, they could still build him as another “homegrown” talent, something that a Darby Allin or MJF has benefited from

If a young wrestler is looking for potential instant on-television experience, AEW may be the easier to get into, but you run the risk of being lost in the shuffle (see Action Andretti). WWE would be a company where you’d have to work from the ground up and it’s there where you would learn that style which has created big stars. NXT currently gets better ratings than Collision, so being a part of their developmental system gives one even a bigger platform for starters. However, in this landscape, signing with either company would be a win-win, just for different reasons.

The good thing about it all? Options, opportunities and the wallet are open. Jim Ross says “cash” and “creative” are always two primary factors in wrestling, and that hasn’t changed in 2024.

Becky Lynch Hopes WWE Success Makes Her Daughter Proud

Becky Lynch has made her daughter proud after capturing WWE Women’s World Champion on last night’s Raw. She has said that all the sacrifice and hard work have been worth it.

‘The Man’ competed in the battle royal to crown the new Women’s World Champion in the main event of this week’s edition of Raw. She outlasted superstars like Natalya, Liv Morgan, Nia Jax, and many more to capture the World title.

Following the match, she told Jackie Redmond in a Raw Exclusive that she is delighted after the championship victory. Becky talked about “burning the candle out” and went on to mention that her book, Becky Lynch: The Man: Not Your Average Average Girl became the New York Times best seller.

Lynch had been away from her daughter Roux but she has made it clear that it was worth it. She says it feels great to hear her introduced as WWE Women’s world champion, a title she’s never held before.

“Look at it, it’s beautiful, it’s beautiful. Look, for the last few months, Rhea even said it, I’ve been burning the candle all out. I’ve been away from my daughter for weeks on end. Got myself a New York Times bestseller for a damn near month. But man, it’s worth it. It’s worth it because the words of my book are written on my gear. It reminds me why I do this, where I started, where I’ve gotten to. We’re just going up, baby.”

Lynch further added that she hopes her daughter is proud of her and is excited to bring the gold back to their household once again. She said:

“Everything that I do, I want to make her proud. I hope she’s proud. She did [stay up late to watch the match]. I got a text from my husband [Seth Rollins], who’s recovering from surgery. At all stages, we need at least one champ in the house, so I’m bringing it home, baby.”

What’s next for Becky Lynch?

Rhea Ripley’s injury forced her to vacate the title and Becky Lynch didn’t miss her opportunity to capture the title. It’s worth noting that Ripley had successfully defended her title against Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 40. It’s going to be interesting to witness how things pan out when ‘The Eradicator’ makes her return as she surely will go after the gold.

However, concerns remain in place as ‘The Man’ has been vocal about her contract with WWE expiring soon.

Daily Drop (4/23): WWE Crowns Becky Lynch Champion, Paige VanZant’s AEW Status

Welcome to the Daily Drop for Tuesday, April 23, 2024. WWE brought another episode of RAW this week, and there is a lot to talk about as we get this week started.

First off, Becky Lynch is the new WWE Women’s World Champion. She won a battle royal in the main event of RAW this week, defeating Liv Morgan as the last competitor. Since Rhea Ripley already promised to come after her title upon her return, it looks like we may have a WrestleMania 40 rematch waiting for us down the line.

Let’s get into today’s edition of the Daily Drop!

WWE:

  • Ilja Dragunov (c) vs. Trick Williams – NXT Championship Match
  • Roxanne Perez (c) vs. Lyra Valkyria vs. Tatum Paxley – NXT Women’s Championship Triple
  • The D’Angelo Family (Tony D’Angelo, Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo & Luca Crusifino) vs. No Quarter Catch Crew (Charlie Dempsey, Damon Kemp & Myles Borne) – Six-Man Tag Team Match
  • Sol Ruca vs. Blair Davenport – Beach Brawl

WWE Releases: Although Xyon Quinn and Von Wagner never made it to RAW or SmackDown, their releases came down from the main roster. They were both free agents, so this was not an NXT call. It also makes us wonder whether they will be under 90-day non-compete clauses, since NXT releases only require a 30-day waiting period before they can appear for another company.

Dominik Injured: Dirty Dom showed up on RAW this week in a sling. That was a big surprise, and he was pulled from his scheduled match. Although he did appear on television, Dom did not get physical. It was later confirmed that not only was Dominik Mysterio injured, but he was also pulled from action on the European tour for an undisclosed injury.

QR Codes Continue: There was another QR Code during RAW this week, and fans are intrigued. This week’s tease also included a blatant reference to Bray Wyatt and Uncle Howdy within the hidden messages. Obviously, WWE is planning something big for this angle, and we’re here for it.

AEW:

Tony Khan’s Memory Lane: The AEW President recently recalled an email exchange he once had with legendary pro wrestler Lou Thesz.

Max Caster’s Mouth: The rap that Caster laid down during AEW Dynasty got a lot of attention. It was noted how this line about Jay White may land him in some hot water this time around.

PVZ’s AEW Status: Former UFC fighter Paige VanZant is not with AEW anymore. She may still appear on the company’s roster page, but Dave Meltzer confirmed during Wrestling Observer Radio that she didn’t want to be a pro wrestler, so she is no longer All Elite. For the record, VanZant is making a killing with her NSFW OnlyFans content.

Scapegoat Spotted: Footage of Jack Perry in the AEW Dynasty crowd before his big return to television started making the rounds online. He walked around with a popcorn bucket with a Sting mask on for a minute before rushing the ring. As you can hear from the voices behind the camera, they were certainly not fooled by Perry’s disguise.

Upcoming PPV’s and PLE’s:

Here are the upcoming major wrestling events

  • Saturday, May 4: WWE Backlash France (PLE)
  • Sunday, May 26: NXT Battleground (PLE)
  • Sunday, May 26: AEW Double or Nothing (PPV)

Rhea Ripley Relishing In “Forever Runner Up” Liv Morgan’s Setback On 4/22 WWE Raw

Rhea Ripley may no longer be the WWE Women’s World Champion, but ‘Mami’ is relishing in the fact that Liv Morgan doesn’t hold the gold either.

The Australian Superstar vacated the gold last week after being injured during a backstage assault by Morgan. On this week’s Raw, Becky Lynch won the vacated gold, marking The Man’s ninth championship win in WWE.

Lynch’s victory on Raw saw her last eliminate Morgan, who alongside The Man was considered a favorite ahead of the battle royal. Taking to Twitter, Ripley was delighted to see her former friend-turned-rival once again come up short. Ripley added that Lynch was an “interim champ,” suggesting that she plans to swiftly regain the gold once she is healed up.

Ripley may have had plenty to say after this week’s Raw but the same can’t be said when it comes to Morgan herself. When a WWE camera operator attempted to catch Morgan after the match, Liv was livid as seen in the clip below.

Did WWE Make the Wrong Call?

While Lynch was a favorite going into the battle royal, many feel that Liv Morgan should have left Raw as the new Women’s World Champion. Morgan has been embroiled in a feud with Ripley for some time, and it was an attack by ‘Mami’ that forced Liv to miss months of action. On Twitter, WWE/TNA Hall of Famer Bully Ray shared his belief that WWE made the wrong call.

Whether it should have been Liv Morgan or not, Becky Lynch is now once again on top of WWE Raw’s women’s division. With this being her first singles title reign of a main roster title in two years, Lynch is hoping for a nice, long run, though is quickly finding herself a long list of challengers.

Becky Lynch Wins Vacant WWE Women’s World Title In Battle Royal During 4/22 RAW

Rhea Ripley’s sudden injury created a need for a new Women’s World Champion. The April 22 episode of RAW ended with a battle royal to help the company decide a new top female on Monday nights.

After a chaotic battle royal match, Becky Lynch pulled down the win to become WWE Women’s World Champion. The Man now holds the title that she failed to snag at WrestleMania 40.

The 4/22 episode of WWE RAW marked the first occasion in WWE history where a vacant women’s championship was claimed in a battle royal. Previously, the only woman to win a title in a battle royal was Gail Kim, who beat then-champion Jazz and five other women during her WWE RAW debut in 2003.

The next WWE draft is from April 26, 2024 (SmackDown) to April 29, 2024 (RAW). It’s anyone’s guess how the upcoming roster shake-up will mold the women’s division for the red brand.

The Battle Royal Match Finish

The battle royal included several notable spots. Natalya eliminated Chelsea Green, but she got back in without the referee seeing her. Then Becky Lynch was put through the announce table by Nia Jax, leaving her out of commission, but still in the match.

The final five women in the match included Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, Liv Morgan Zoey Stark and Becky Lynch, who was KOed thanks to that table spot. Then Jax took Stark and Baszler out of the match.

As Nia Jax and Liv Morgan set themselves up to be the last two in the match, Becky Lynch crawled back into the ring. The three of them continued as Liv and Becky tried to take out Nia. Then The Irresistible Force was finally sent to the floor after a collaborative effort.

Becky and Liv made eventually made their way to the apron, where Morgan nailed a Codebreaker, but Lynch reversed Morgan’s follow-up into a Manhandle Slam to win the match.

Why Rhea Ripley Vacated Title

Rhea Ripley looked to be a strong, and unbeatable, Women’s World Champion coming out of WrestleMania 40. Then Liv Morgan jumped her backstage during the RAW after the show of shows, and the Nightmare was injured.

Recent reports suggest that Ripley might need four to six weeks to regain shoulder mobility following a sprained AC joint injury. The incident is considered a “total fluke.” Typically, recovery from such an injury requires up to three months before she can resume ring activities.

Ripley had to make the sad announcement last week on RAW that she was vacating the Women’s World Championship. Before she left, Ripley also made it very clear that she will target whoever is champion when her return comes around.

Seth Rollins Recovering After Recent Knee Surgery

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins will be out for the foreseeable future as he is recovering from knee surgery.

Rollins hasn’t appeared for WWE since his loss to Drew McIntyre at WWE WrestleMania 40: Sunday. During an appearance on RTE One’s The Late, Late Show, Becky Lynch was asked about how she and Rollins handle wrestling and being parents and disclosed her husband’s recent surgery.

“So he just got surgery on Tuesday, he had knee surgery. He tore his meniscus a little while before WrestleMania. His rehab, I suppose, is running after a little 3-year-old now. That’ll be great for his knee.”

News of Rollins’ surgery shouldn’t come as a massive surprise to fans. In the weeks leading up to WrestleMania, much had been said about the physical condition of the then-World Heavyweight Champion. Post-WrestleMania, it was reported that Rollins would be taking a break from programming.

While an initial report said that Rollins wouldn’t miss much time at all, this surgery will have presumably extended the length of his hiatus from the ring. Rollins suffered a partial meniscus tear during a match on Raw in January and opted to rest so that he could still wok both nights of WrestleMania 40.

After a 316-day reign on top that saw Rollins lead the way in the absence of Roman Reigns, Seth has certainly earned some time off and can hopefully make a full recovery. At this time, it’s unclear when fans can expect him back but we’re wishing him all the best.

Becky Lynch Pokes Fun At Time-Off Rumors Ahead Of WWE European Tour

Becky Lynch is excited to be a part of an upcoming WWE tour of Europe, despite what some on social media would have you believe.

Following Lynch’s loss to Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania, some online suggested that she would be taking time off. These rumors were galvanized after it was reported that Lynch’s husband Seth Rollins would be taking time off following his own loss at WrestleMania 40.

Taking to Twitter, Lynch poked fun at the notion that she is going to be out of the ring for a significant amount of time. When the WWE UK promoted Lynch for an upcoming tour, Lynch feigned surprise given that “the internet” had said she was taking a break.

Becky Lynch’s Contract Status

While Lynch doesn’t plan on taking a break from the action (regardless of what the internet may have to say) her time with WWE is ticking away. The former Raw, SmackDown, and NXT Women’s Champion recently disclosed that her current deal will expire within a couple of months. She also revealed that she is confident that WWE will come up with a new deal for her to consider.

As one of the biggest female wrestling stars in history, WWE would be wise to keep Lynch on board. There’s no word publicly on whether Tony Khan has his sights set on the man though acquiring The Man would be quite the acquisition to AEW’s women’s division.

Lynch will ultimately do what’s best for her and has said that she doesn’t think a full-time role in the ring will be for her when her daughter Roux starts school. Wherever The Man goes next, fans should enjoy her while they can.

Becky Lynch’s future may be uncertain, but you can find all about her incredible journey in wrestling and life so far.

Seth Rollins Expected To Take Time Off After WWE WrestleMania 40

WWE Superstars give their all, especially on the road to WrestleMania. After the show and shows is over, it appears that two top stars are taking a bit of time off.

Both Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins lost their matches during WrestleMania 40. Lynch was unable to capture the WWE Women’s World Title from Rhea Ripley in the first match of WrestleMania Saturday. Then, on WrestleMania Sunday, Seth Rollins lost his World Heavyweight Championship.

According to a report from Fightful Select, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch were not listed on rundowns before WWE RAW this week. Seth Rollins is expected to take some time off.

Clues For Their Time Off

Drew McIntyre spoke directly to the camera this week to address Rollins, and thank him for their Mania match. It seemed as though he was delivering a message to The Visionary, as he wasn’t there.

As inaugural WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Rollins held the title for 316 days before dropping it to Drew McIntyre. The Scottish Warrior’s reign as champion lasted just over 5 minutes before Damian Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to win the belt.

It is also worth noting that Triple H sent out a post on Twitter/X today, praising Rollins for his contributions as World Heavyweight Champion. That message certainly seemed like it might have had more meaning behind it than the surface statement about Rollins’ toughness.

How do you make steel and leather become a most sought after possession? How do you get men to give their blood, sweat and tears to attain it? How do you make it mean the absolute most? Seth “Freakin” Rollins.

Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch’s Contract Situations

Both Rollins and Lynch have contracts expiring in 2024. Lynch’s deal is expiring in two months, something that she didn’t express much worry about, as Endeavor is showing up how they handle contract renewals.

We will have to see when The Man and The Visionary return to WWE television. They could both get some well-deserved time off at this point.
