WWE Teases the Winged Eagle Title for Saturday Night’s Main Event

Excitement is building for Saturday Night’s Main Event, as Cody Rhodes and Triple H have teased the return of a piece of WWE history for one night only. In video posted on social media, Triple H presented Rhodes with a mysterious case, revealing that its glowing contents would be in his possession for just one night.

This cryptic moment has sparked speculation among fans that the case contains the legendary Winged Eagle Title, a design synonymous with WWE’s “Golden Era.”

The Winged Eagle

Cody Rhodes, who is set to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens on Saturday, has long been vocal about his admiration for the Winged Eagle Title. Bringing back this classic design, even briefly, would pay homage to WWE’s rich history—a move that aligns with Rhodes’ reverence for wrestling tradition.

The Winged Eagle Championship holds special significance in professional wrestling history. It was worn by legendary champions including Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Ultimate Warrior, The Undertaker, Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, Sid and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

WWE is enhancing the nostalgic experience with retro graphics and a stripped-down arena setup, recreating the look and feel of the 1980s when Saturday Night’s Main Event first hit the airwaves in the mid-1980’s.

The December 14, 2024 NBC card is stacked with high-profile matches, including:

  • Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Kevin Owens
  • Women’s World Championship: Liv Morgan (c) vs. IYO SKY
  • World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther (c) vs. Finn Bálor vs. Damian Priest
  • Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Tournament Finals
  • Singles Match: Sami Zayn vs. Drew McIntyre

With its blend of historic nods and modern marquee matches, Saturday Night’s Main Event promises to deliver an unforgettable evening for wrestling fans.

WWE-NHL Legacy Title Belts Now Available For All 32 Teams

The National Hockey League (NHL) is the latest professional sports league to team up with WWE for a line of team-specific replica championship belts.

Updated Look At Marigold Wrestling’s United National & World Championships

Fans of Marigold Wrestling have received an updated look at the company’s championships with more titles on their way.

Marigold, the brainchild of STARDOM founder Rossy Ogawa, was confirmed in April 2024 after speculation that Ogawa was looking to make a new company. It was allegations that Ogawa was ‘poaching’ talent from STARDOM that led to his termination from parent company Bushiroad.

This week, fans got a better look at the Marigold Championships than what had previously been offered. These new photos reveal an updated design that features blue accents to the World Championship and blue, green, and orange accents to the United National Championship. It has been reported that more titles are in the works, including planned Marigold Tag Team Championships.

The latest look at the Marigold Championships.

These titles are the latest creations from Belts By Dan, who has made several championships across professional wrestling. Creations of Dan’s include the AEW TNT Championship, the AEW Women’s World Championship, and the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

The Future of Marigold

After hosting its inaugural Fields Forever event in May, Marigold’s next show will be the Summer Destiny event on July 13. The show will stream on on Wrestle Universe. Marigold has announced Giulia Vs. Sareee for the show, despite Giulia suffering a wrist injury during the Fields Forever show that has put plans for her on pause.

Marigold’s future could also see involvement from WWE as Rossy Ogawa hopes to create strong ties with the world’s most successful wrestling promotion. Giulia is expected to make a handful of appearances for Marigold after she officially joins WWE later this year. Marigold is hopeful that WWE Superstars IYO SKY and Kairi Sane (both of whom have worked with Ogawa in the past) will be available for upcoming events with WWE’s blessing.

New MLW World Heavyweight Championship Revealed At Battle Riot VI

Fans at Major League Wrestling’s Battle Riot VI event saw the introduction of the promotion’s brand-new World Championship title design.

Before the show’s World Heavyweight Championship match, the new title design was introduced. This design features a gold, black, and silver center plate with the MLW logo over the world. The title also includes silver and gold side plates. The previous design had been in operation since April of 2018 when MLW returned following a 15-year hiatus.

The MLW World Heavyweight Championship has been held since February by Satoshi Kojima. The 53-year-old Japanese star is currently in his second reign as champion and won the title from Alex Kane at SuperFight. At Battle Riot VI, Kojima retained the gold against former champion ‘Filthy’ Tom Lawlor.

The new title is the latest creation from Belts By Dan, who has made several championships across professional wrestling. Creations of Dan’s include the AEW TNT Championship, the AEW Women’s World Championship, and the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

While Kojima is proud to hold the re-designed MLW World Heavyweight Championship, his reign is in serious jeopardy. MLW Battle Riot VI also saw Matt Riddle win the titular 40-man Battle Riot match. With this win, the former WWE United States Champion has earned an MLW World Title match for any time of his choosing. If WWE’s Money in the Bank contract has shown anything, then this stipulation puts Kojima at a distinct disadvantage.

WWE Introduces New World Tag Team Titles, Retiring Raw Tag Belts

Triple H presented Awesome Truth with the new WWE World Tag Team Championships during the 4/15 episode of WWE RAW. This was a historic moment in front of a frenzied Montreal crowd.

Awesome Truth won the RAW Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 40. Two weeks later, the company did away with those titles and replaced them with totally new belts.

WWE is in a new era, and that has brought many changes. The Undisputed Tag Team Championships were split during WrestleMania 40, and now the RAW Tag Team Titles are no more. In their place, Triple H introduced new titles.

WWE World Tag Team Title reveal

Crowning New Champions on 4/15 WWE RAW

Triple H made his way out during RAW this week and the Montreal crowd was pumped to see him. Then the camera revealed that the ring was done up in its red carpet look, with something covered on a podium in the center.

It did not take long for Triple H’s promo to get directed toward the new RAW Tag Team Champions. Then Awesome Truth made their way to the ring. Triple H revealed that Awesome Truth are no longer RAW Tag Team Champions. They are now the World Tag Team Champions, and that came with new titles.

WWE’s New World Tag Team Champions title belt

When The Game revealed Awesome Truth’s new titles, R-Truth flipped out and thought it was an amazing magic trick. Then he mistook Triple H for Tommaso Ciampa once again.

Triple H left, but not before taking Awesome Truth’s old titles and putting the new ones around their shoulders. As R-Truth and The Miz raised their new titles up, fans cheered the new belts.

After the new WWE World Tag Team Titles were given to Awesome Truth, they held a triple threat tag team match to decide a new #1 contender. Team DIY, Creed Brothers, and The New Day. In the end, Team #DIY won the match, so they will face Awesome Truth for the new World Tag Team Titles first. That might get confusing for R-Truth, because he thinks they are Shawn Michaels and Triple H.

WWEShop already has the new World Tag Team Champions replica belts available for pre-order here:

Cody Rhodes Teases Introducing New WWE Championship Title Belt After WrestleMania 40

Cody Rhodes finished his story at WrestleMania 40, and that could come with a change for the title he will carry. It’s a new era in WWE, and The American Nightmare just teased another change.

Rhodes beat Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 40 in a very emotional match. John Cena and The Undertaker were on hand to help Cody finish his story, and the celebration was a happy one after the Tribal Chief was defeated.

On the morning after WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes dropped a very interesting post on Twitter/X. Along with WWE’s current Undisputed Universal Championship, he also had another belt by its side, a throwback design. The caption that Cody picked leads us to believe he may be contemplating carrying that championship instead.

When one good story ends, an even better one begins.

Cody Rhodes tagged WWE’s official shop in his post. He also tagged Prime, Logan Paul’s hydration company, because the American Nightmare signed a deal to endorse them.

During the Pat McAfee show at WWE World on April 8, Cody Rhodes said it would be special to see a particular championship. Fans chanted for the winged eagle title. Cody said, “You guys are damn right, the wingled eagle. If it doesn’t happen, don’t get mad at me. I’ll do what I did last time (with the IC Title), I’ll try my best.”

Cody Rhodes Wants To Carry The Winged Eagle Title

Some might think that Cody Rhodes is just teasing another title belt for the sake of it, but he has altered his title belts in the past. Rhodes is the one who pulled for WWE to bring back the white Intercontinental Title belt during his last reign as champion, a design that they kept around for a while until Vince McMahon changed it back after Cody bet on himself and left the company.

Cody Rhodes has also made it clear in the past that he would like to bring back the Winged Eagle Championship. He said in the past that, “Through my youth, the WWE I was watching, was really synonymous with the Winged Eagle. I think there’s a lot of people who love the Winged Eagle design, some people like the Big Eagle, but the Winged Eagle was the one for me. Today’s design with the giant W is also incredibly special because it’s this walking billboard for the promotion.”

Although Cody previously stated that it is a “pipe dream” to carry the Winged Eagle Championship, you never know what can happen in the Paul Levesque Era of WWE.
