Big Cass Wants In On Universal Championship Match At SummerSlam

WWE Superstar Big Cass recently did an interview with WWE Fan France to talk about his plans for SummerSlam later this month. Currently, Cass is in a feud with The Big Show after turning on his former tag team partner, Enzo Amore. Show has been sticking up for Amore as of late and has had multiple battles with Cass on Monday Night RAW on Amore’s behalf. Cass and Show are not currently scheduled to meet at SummerSlam, but said he’s ready and willing to take on anyone who gets in his way:

“I don’t have any current plans for SummerSlam,” said Cass. “Anybody that wants to come step to me, I’m ready to face them at SummerSlam. I’m ready for anything at SummerSlam, man. Anybody wants to challenge me, if anybody gets in my way right, if anybody ticks me off, those are all possible options for people that I want to throw down with at SummerSlam.

“So right now I don’t have any specific plans, I’m sure that I’ll have some plans come my way in the few couple of weeks. I’m sure something is going to happen, someone, you know, step to me of sort.”

If Cass could have his way he’d be challenging Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship:
“I wish I could be in the Universal Championship match, whatever that may be at SummerSlam,” revealed Cass. “If I can get into that match and try to take the title off The Beast, then that’s something that I’m going to do and that’s something I’m definitely wishful for but if that doesn’t happen I’m sure something is going to come about.
“But if I had to my eye on a specific prize, something I would really hope I could do at SummerSlam, that’s face The Beast at SummerSlam in my backyard in New York City in Brooklyn, New York.”

Big Cass Reacts to the Increased Number of Tag Teams Splitting Up Lately

WWE Superstar Big Cass recently took part in a media call and talked on a number of professional wrestling topics. During the call, Cass was asked for his opinion on the sudden increase in Tag Teams splitting up as of late such as American Alpha, #DIY and The Vaudevillains. Cass has also recently split up from his longtime tag team partner, Enzo Amore, after it was revealed that Cass was the one who had been attacking Amore backstage at Monday Night RAW a few weeks ago.

You can check out what Cass had to say here:

“Well, that’s just life. That’s how things go. Eventually everything that’s good has to come to an end, eventually teams separate to their individual agendas and individual reasons. That’s how things go man, that’s how things have always been in WWE, that’s how things are in sports – look at Kyrie Irving right with LeBron James in Cleveland. That’s how it goes man. Teams separate, people separate, and people go their own way for whatever reason and whatever reason they feel is right”

“But there are a lot of tag teams in NXT right now that could come up and fill voids on Monday Night RAW and on SmackDown Live. Authors Of Pain are the first ones to come to mind. Those guys are big dudes and are very talented. They can beat some people senseless. So there’s many teams in NXT right now that can fill the void that has been left by the split up tag teams on RAW and SmackDown.”

Big Cass On Wanting To Main-Event WrestleMania With Roman Reigns, Betraying Enzo Amore

Big Cass was recently interviewed by Sports Bible and below are some of the highlights:

Deciding to betray his former tag partner Enzo Amore:

“I feel it could have maybe happened a little earlier, it definitely was a long time coming, a long time coming since NXT to be honest with you. I’ve definitely thought about it and talked about it, since NXT – there’s a lot of reasons behind that I won’t get into but someone can only tick-tail so much and eventually you reach the point where they are holding you back, to a certain extent. It’s just day after day, all you can keep thinking about is that so you definitely contemplating splitting. I definitely think it happened at the right time, if not even earlier would have been good.”

Working with Big Show:

“Big Show, when I was with Enzo, was very influential – he always helped me out especially so it was always great talking to him and being able to have him critique my stuff but it’s a different ball game now. I think being in the same ring as the Big Show, being able to mix it up with him and being able to show the the WWE Universe that I can stand toe-to-toe with the Big Show, like I did last week on Monday Night Raw, I think that’s definitely helped me out and hopefully people can see what I’m capable of, not only short term but in the long term.”

Main-eventing WrestleMania with Roman Reigns:

“Roman Reigns has main evented three Wrestlemanias in a row and I’d really like to main event Wrestlemania with Roman Reigns. – that’s the match I really want right now. Love him, hate him – whatever you think of him it doesn’t matter, he’s main evented three straight Wrestlemanias and that’s almost unprecedented. I think The Rock is the only other guy to have been able to do that – three in a row.

So right now, currently, [my dream match] is to main event Wrestlemania with Roman Reigns. He’s set the bar for Wrestlemania and that’s the guy I want to face at Wrestlemania.”

Source: Backstage Heat On RAW Star Over Political Views

It sounds like yet another RAW star is having issues with his colleagues behind-the-scenes. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Big Cass has garnered heat with the majority of the WWE locker room. As previously noted, Cass’ now-former partner Enzo Amore isn’t winning over his WWE peers either.

According to Meltzer, Cass’ heat stems from sharing his views on politics. Cass is said to be a strong supporter of Donald Trump, which is not a view shared by many in the WWE locker room. Despite the negative feelings towards Cass, he reportedly doesn’t have nearly as much heat on him as Enzo does.

Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon is a part of the Trump Administration, so Cass’ views may not be seen as a negative thing by the McMahons.

Big Cass Claims He Can Defeat Brock Lesnar (Video), Tye Dillinger Invites The Miz To SmackDown

Big Cass thinks he can defeat Brock Lesnar and become the next Universal Champion

Big Cass was a guest on RAW Talk after WWE Great Balls Of Fire went off the air. Cass defeated Enzo Amore in convincing fashion earlier in the night. Cass was asked about facing Lesnar and here was his response:

“It would be a tough task to go up against The Beast but if there is anybody out there that can do it, I think it is me. I think I can handle The Beast, I think I can go toe-to-toe with The Beast and I think I can beat The Beast. I think I can be the Universal Champion, in fact I think I am the next Universal Champion.”

Tye Dillinger invites The Miz to SmackDown

The Miz defended his Intercontinental Championship at Great Balls Of Fire against Dean Ambrose. The Miz was able to retain his title thanks to constant distractions and interference from Maryse, Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. Tye Dillinger sent out the following tweet after The Miz retained his Intercontinental Championship and invited him to SmackDown:

The Miz and Maryse were also guests on RAW Talk last night. The Miz claimed that WWE was doing nothing with Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas, but he saw something in them while filming The Marine 5. Bo Dallas revealed that it had been two years that he has been involved in a WWE PPV in two years and that The Miz has given him an opportunity. You can check out a clip of the interview in the video below.

NXT Championship Match Officially Announced, Enzo Amore Continues To Taunt Conor McGregor

NXT Championship match officially announced

NXT Champion Bobby Roode will defend his title against Roderick Strong on the July 5th episode of NXT. WWE.com posted the following:

NXT Champion Bobby Roode will defend his title in a huge head-to-head showdown against Roderick Strong on the July 5 episode of NXT.

The Glorious One’s rivalry with Strong has intensified rapidly, with tensions reaching their boiling point on June 21 when a photo shoot erupted into a brawl between Roode and Strong.

This came after the titleholder and Strong had a war of words two weeks prior on NXT. Strong bared his soul to the NXT Universe, opening up about his journey into fatherhood and his desire to become NXT Champion, only to be met with ridicule and disrespect from Roode, who verbally tore down Strong’s title aspirations.

Following their backstage photoshoot throw down, the heated foes will now settle their differences inside the squared circle with NXT’s most prized possession on the line. Don’t miss this epic NXT Title contest on Wednesday, July 5, at 8/7 C, on the award-winning WWE Network.

WWE released a video earlier today of Roode and Strong getting into a fight before tonight’s episode of NXT.

Enzo Amore continues to taunt Conor McGregor

Monday on RAW, Big Cass was revealed to be the one that was attacking Enzo Amore backstage. Cass accused Enzo of using his mouth to write checks that his ass cannot cash. That message apparently didn’t get through to Enzo as he continues to take shots at Conor McGregor on social media. Here is the original tweet that Enzo sent out to McGregor on June 16th:

Earlier today, Enzo sent out the following tweet and once again called out McGregor:

Carmella Comments on Big Cass’ Actions on Raw

Real life couple, Carmella and Big Cass, have had a significant last two days.

On Sunday night, Carmella controversially won the first ever women’s Money in the Bank match. Then last night on Raw, Big Cass turned on longtime tag team partner Enzo Amore.

Carmella Comments on Big Cass’ Actions

Carmella, who debuted in NXT as Enzo and Cass’s hairdresser, seems to feel that Big Cass turning on Enzo is well overdue.

She had this to say on social media regarding last night’s segment:

Carmella also had this to say to those disappointed with MITB briefcase win:

Big Cass Turns On “Dead Weight” Enzo Amore

Finally, it was revealed who was behind the backstage attacks of Enzo and Cass tonight on RAW. After weeks of speculation, RAW GM Kurt Angle promised Enzo and Cass that he would solve the case tonight. Angle was shown several times throughout the show talking to Superstars backstage. During the final segment on RAW, the case was finally solved.

RAW GM Kurt Angle came down to the ring and the crowd greeted him with “you suck!” chants in concert with his theme music. Angle asked Enzo and Cass to come down to the ring. Enzo and Cass came down to the entrance ramp and cut their typical promo. Enzo and Cass then entered the ring with Kurt Angle.

Angle said that he has been talking with suspects all night long and asked The Revival to come out from backstage. Dash and Dawson came down to the ring with microphones. Angle then asked the Big Show to come down to the ring. Big Show entered the ring and also had a microphone. Big Show called Enzo and Cass SAWFT and said he wouldn’t attack anyone from behind. Big Show then told Angle that maybe he didn’t need to be on his show anymore if Angle thought he would do something like this. Big Show then exited the ring and walked backstage.

Dawson said that The Revival were innocent. Angle agreed and Corey Graves got on the microphone. Graves said that Cass lied about his attack and said that he spoke to WWE’s medical team and that none of them recalled treated him. Graves then showed security footage of Cass staging his own attack. Graves then accused Cass of attacking Enzo.

Cass admitted to attacking Enzo and then scolded Enzo Amore for constantly running his mouth. Cass stated that he has wanted to knock Enzo out several times but didn’t because everyone in the back hates him. Cass claimed that he felt bad for Enzo but he finally snapped and that it felt damn good when he attacked Enzo from behind. Enzo then shed a tear as Cass shouted at him and said that he wanted to watch him suffer.

Cass said that Enzo was even dumber than he looks. Cass claimed that Enzo was holding him down and that he should be rising to the top of WWE. Cass stated that Enzo is the reason he has never been a champ in WWE. Big Cass said that he is where the money is and Enzo just writes checks that he cannot cash. Cass then stated that he was through with Enzo and booted him in the face. RAW went off the air with the crowd chanting “you suck!” at Big Cass.

WWE Leaves an Interesting Clue on Who Enzo Amore’s Attacker Could be

The storyline involving Enzo Amore being repeatedly attacked backstage might have a payoff that will reward viewers who are keeping a close eye on things.

Last week, Amore was attacked backstage and found by WWE officials laid out on the arena floor. His longtime tag team partner, Big Cass, was enraged by the incident and launched an investigation to find the attacker, prompting RAW General Manager Kurt Angle to conduct his own inquiry.

This past Monday night (May 29, 2017) Amore was again attacked backstage, however this time, a few potential suspects began to emerge. The Revival’s Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder returned to Monday Night RAW and were shown footage in which they were caught snooping around the arena the previous week on RAW. The pair immediately denied being Amore’s attackers and claimed that they’ve been backstage on RAW every week since Dash’s injury, but they were busy doing “top guy things” and wouldn’t waste their time with Amore.

Another interesting twist occurred when Big Cass came out and confronted commentator Corey Graves for his comments the previous week. Graves said that he thinks Big Cass could’ve been the man who attacked Enzo, and also said he’d like to shake the hand of the man who is responsible for the attack. Cass and Graves seemed to smooth things over, however, Cass smiled at Graves and shook his hand randomly:

Discussion: Could Big Cass shaking Graves’ hand be a sign that he’s the attacker and ready to break off on his own?

Match Announced For Tonight’s WWE RAW

Rusev and Jinder Mahal will do battle with Enzo Amore and Big Cass on the first RAW of 2017, airing live tonight from Tampa, FL.

Also announced for RAW is Bill Goldberg’s return plus Braun Strowman vs. Sami Zayn in a Last Man Standing Match.

Rusev tweeted on tonight’s tag bout:

WWE Roadblock: End Of The Line Predictions & Match Breakdown

Big Cass vs Rusev

Breakdown: The build to this match has mainly focused on Enzo Amore and Rusev. Enzo got suckered into meeting Lana at a hotel and Rusev beat the hell out of him. Big Cass now has his chance avenge his friend Enzo in a match against Rusev.

Prediction: This is a tough match to predict. Enzo and Cass haven’t really been in the Tag Team Championship seen at all recently. I wouldn’t be surprised if the WWE wants to start a singles push for Big Cass. I think Enzo and Cass are a solid tag team but once you get past the entrance, they have the same match every time. Enzo gets destroyed and then Big Cass gets tagged in and takes care of business. In a perfect world, Rusev wins this match but Big Cass has a good showing.

Winner: Rusev

Sami Zayn vs Braun Strowman (10 Minute Time Limit)

Breakdown: Sami Zayn has been obsessed with Strowman the past few weeks and Braun simply couldn’t care less. The two Superstars had a match a couple of weeks ago and Raw GM Mick Foley put a stop to it because Zayn couldn’t defend himself. Zayn demanded a rematch and finally Foley caved in and gave it to him this Sunday at Roadblock. Foley also put a 10 minute time limit on the match.

Prediction: I cannot come up with a scenario in which it would make sense for Sami Zayn to win this match. Obviously, Sami Zayn has been underutilized on Raw since the brand split. However, Raw has spent far too much time building up Braun Strowman for him to lose a relatively meaningless match against Sami Zayn. I think Sami Zayn will last the 10 minutes and that will piss Strowman off. The match will conclude with Strowman beating down Zayn after the 10 minute mark was reached. Foley may come out to try to put a stop to it and maybe Strowman will attack him as well. I think this would be a good way to show that Sami Zayn never quits and that Braun Strowman is an uncontrollable monster that the Raw locker room should fear.

Raw Tag Team Championship Match: New Day (c) vs Sheamus & Cesaro

Breakdown: This match was announced at Tribute to the Troops on Wednesday. Sheamus and Cesaro defeated Golden Truth, Gallows & Anderson and The Shining Stars in a Fatal 4-Way match to become the #1 contenders. The New Day are now the longest reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE history.

Prediction: A lot of people seem to believe that the New Day’s title reign is coming to an end. Sheamus and Cesaro got off to a rocky start when it came to crowd reactions but they have overcome that. They now work well as a tag team and are pretty much the only team on Raw that is ready to take the titles from the New Day. I think that will happen in due time. However, I do not think that will happen at Roadblock.

Winners & Still Tag Team Champions: New Day

Cruiserweight Championship Match: Rich Swann (c) vs The Brian Kendrick vs TJ Perkins

Breakdown: TJ Perkins lost the Cruiserweight title to Kendrick and then Kendrick lost it to Swann. On 205 Live, TJ Perkins submitted Rich Swann in the middle of the ring. On Monday Night Raw, Kendrick defeated Perkins easily. Perkins and Swann are friends but they seem ready to turn on each other. Kendrick’s strategy has been to play mind games with both Swann and Perkins.

Prediction:  This is one of those matches that could go a million different ways. I don’t like the idea of Kendrick getting the title back so quickly. He really doesn’t need it. I think that the WWE has been dropping some subtle hints that Perkins is gearing up for a heel turn. His interactions with Swann backstage have been bizarre. I think Rich Swann is going to retain his title but Perkins is going to attack him after the match. Brian Kendrick may even join in on the attack or simply smile and cheer Perkins on.

Winner & Still Cruiserweight Champion: Rich Swann

Seth Rollins vs Chris Jericho

Breakdown: Rollins and Jericho have been battling for awhile now. Rollins was mainly focused on Kevin Owens but Jericho kept getting involved in their matches. Rollins hit a Pedigree on Jericho on top of a car a couple of weeks ago on Raw. Seth wants to defeat Jericho, take the Universal Championship from Kevin Owens and then fight Triple H. Jericho has a lot on his mind but mainly his beloved list and his broken friendship with Kevin Owens.

Prediction: The only way Jericho can win this match is by some sort of outside interference. I do not believe that Triple H will be showing up at WWE Roadblock but you never know. I think it is more likely that this match is earlier in the show and Kevin Owens tries to help Jericho out. Owens is desperate to fix his friendship with Jericho. If he can accomplish that, maybe Jericho will show up later in the night in Owens’ title defense against Roman Reigns. Even if Owens interferes, I think Rollins overcomes it and still wins the match.

Winner: Seth Rollins

Iron Man Match For The Raw Women’s Championship: Sasha Banks (c) vs Charlotte

Breakdown: Sasha Banks and Charlotte have essentially been trading the Raw Women’s Championship back and forth since the brand split. Sasha Bansk won the title back on Raw recently and celebrated with Ric Flair in the ring. The following week, Charlotte pretended to apologize to her father for embarrassing him back in May on Raw. Charlotte once again talked down to Ric Flair and then beat up Sasha Banks in front of him. Ric Flair stood there helplessly as his daughter beatdown Banks.

Prediction: Charlotte is undefeated at PPVs and I wouldn’t be surprised if that continues. I think this match will be excellent and will showcase how talented both Sasha Banks and Charlotte are. However, I think the ending will involve Ric Flair helping out his daughter Charlotte. I don’t think the WWE is bringing back Ric Flair as an on-screen character for him to be in the corner of Sasha Banks. Thus, the Raw Women’s Championship will once again change hands and Charlotte will leave Pittsburgh with the title.

Winner & New Raw Women’s Champion: Charlotte

Universal Championship Match: Kevin Owens (c) vs Roman Reigns

Breakdown: Roman Reigns has gotten the upper hand on Owens recently. Roman Reigns both want the Universal Championship. Reigns gets his shot on Sunday and Rollins battles Owens’ former best friend Chris Jericho. Reigns has already defeated Kevin Owens clean recently and that victory gave him the oppurtunity at the Universal Championship.

Prediction: Much like the Jericho and Rollins match, the only way Owens can win this match is by someone interfering. Owens has been booked as a paper champion his whole title reign. He has relied on Chris Jericho to help him retain his Universal Championship. If Jericho or Triple H does not interfere, there is no way Kevin Owens is going to defeat Roman Reigns at Roadblock. Roman Reigns is currently the United States Champion and that is the only thing preventing me from picking him this Sunday. I think the person that is going to take the Universal Championship from Owens will be Seth Rollins. I think Owens retains by getting himself disqualified, running out of the arena or outside interference.

Winner & Still Universal Champion: Kevin Owens

What do you think will happen this Sunday at WWE Roadblock: End of the Line? Let us know in the comments below.

Wrestling School Where Big Cass, The Dudleys, and More Trained is Moving

One of New York’s biggest wrestling institutions is moving from the location it’s been in for decades. Deadspin reports that Gleason’s, the legendary boxing gym that serves as home to WWE Hall of Famer Johnny Rodz’ wrestling school, is leaving the location it’s had in the DUMBO section of Brooklyn for over 30 years. As noted in the article, DUMBO has completely transformed in the decades since Gleason’s moved there, as what used to be one of many warehouse-like buildings is now in the middle of a bunch of storefronts in a trendy neighborhood.

The new location is just around the corner, so life goes on for the most part. But for all of the wrestlers trained at Rodz’s school, like Tommy Dreamer, Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley, Mat Striker, Big Cass, and Marti Belle, the strangely lovable sweatbox that they learned the ropes in will not be a place they can visit anymore. Hopefully Rodz’s office, which is akin to a miniature wrestling museum, will stay largely the same.

Video Of HHH Telling Enzo & Cass About Their Call-Ups; Cass Talks SummerSlam & More

Above is video from a WWE Breaking Ground episode where Triple H informs Enzo Amore and Big Cass that they were coming to RAW. The footage was filmed during WrestleMania weekend in Dallas earlier this year. Triple H also mentions that Cass’ girlfriend Carmella won’t be coming up as she has a lot of potential but needed to stay in NXT for the time being.

Cass spoke to Brian Fritz of SportingNews.com at this link and commented on if he knew what was about to happen in the video:

“No. So, we were at NXT TakeOver: Dallas and it was a very emotional night. We train with these guys. We weren’t even on the show, but we felt like we were part of the show because it’s a brotherhood down at the Performance Center. It’s all just a big family down there. It was emotional for us to see the show and to watch everybody go out there and light it up. We were leaving the venue and Triple said he wanted to talk to us. He brings me and Enzo into the room and, I don’t know if it’s on the video, but he congratulated us and I said, “Thank you very much” and then I realized, wait a second, we didn’t even perform tonight. So it was pretty weird to start off the conversation like that. It was a very emotional night and you felt like you were a part of it. I didn’t know what he was congratulating us for. Then he says you’re coming up to the main roster on Monday and then I realized that’s what he said congratulations for.

It was just a very surreal experience. I’ve been signed here for about five years when that conversation took place, so I’ve been working for that moment for five years. Me and Enzo, three years together, have been working at it to get to the main roster. So when we had that conversation with Triple H, it was very surreal and a lot of mixed emotions in that moment. But I’d say the most overwhelming emotion was joy. We were just so ecstatic about finally getting to debut on the main roster.”

Cass also spoke on the SummerSlam match against Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho later this month:

“I’ve been to four SummerSlams all in that area. I was at SummerSlam ’97, ’98, 2002 and 2007. I was there as a fan wishing I could be a WWE superstar. Now I’m walking into Brooklyn, N.Y., as a WWE superstar in front of those fans. Right now, the excitement is indescribable, and I can’t even imagine what it’s going to be like on that evening going into SummerSlam in front of the hometown crowd, people I grew up with, friends and family against Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho with Enzo by my side. It’s a blessing to be able to do that on Aug. 21. It’s going to be amazing.”

The full interview is a great read and can be found at this link.

Backstage News On Big Cass And How He’s Seen, Enzo Amore’s Return

Big Cass recently impressed WWE officials independent of Enzo, according to a report at PWInsider.com. While Enzo Amore was out of action due to the concussion he suffered last month,  Cass was perceived as not just a player in the tag team division, but a future singles star as well.

WWE is booking Cass strong just in case they want to go ahead with a singles push in the near future.

On a related note, it appears Enzo returned earlier than expected.
