A massive six-man tag team match has been announced for the Sept. 20 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw.
On the Sept. 17 episode of SmackDown, newly-minted WWE Champion Big E made a surprise appearance. He and Finn Balor defeated WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos. Backstage after the match, The Usos attacked Big E.
As a result of what transpired on SmackDown, Big E will team with his New Day brethren Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods to take on WWE Universal Champion Reigns and The Usos. The official Twitter account of WWE made the announcement.
Renee Paquette appeared on Busted Open Radio on Friday morning. She spoke with Dave LaGreca and Bully Ray for her new segment, Keeping It Real With Renee.
Paquette spoke in-depth about Big E becoming WWE Champion earlier this week. As somebody who has known Big E for many years, it makes her so happy for him to reach the top of the mountain in WWE.
“It just makes me so happy,” she began. “I tweeted out, it’s so cool to see this outpouring of love for someone like Big E. I’ve never heard anybody say a bad thing about the dude.”
The outpouring of love for E on my timeline ??? this dude is the most legit. Love when organic magic happens.
Paquette continued by talking about the grassroots-nature of Big E’s rise to the top. A situation like Big E’s rise only comes along every few years. WWE has lightning in a bottle with Big E and a chance to give fans exactly what they want.
“It’s been, I guess you could call it, a slow burn for Big E. You get that huge payoff, him cashing in that Money in the Bank contract, becoming WWE Champion. What I love about it is the organic way that Big’s career has kind of gone. When you get the fans behind you, now you know the company is behind him, it’s time just kind of ‘strap that rocket on to him and shoot him off.’ That trajectory is just going to keep going.”
“If we want to get into ratings and blah blah blah, I think Big E could be that guy to really help to push WWE Monday Night Raw, Friday Night SmackDown, wherever he decides he wants to show up. It’s that organic side of things that I think WWE fans have been craving and they want that payoff and they finally got it with Big E and I couldn’t be happier for that dude.”
“You Kind of Worry”
Bully Ray asked Paquette if she felt that Big E’s title win was a longterm plan that finally came together, or if it was a knee-jerk decision based on competition from Monday Night Football and AEW. Renee didn’t want to call it a knee-jerk reaction, but said there was definitely a ‘business side’ to that creative decision.
“As you see AEW nipping at the heels of WWE, they’ve got to start making some bigger moves and they’ve got to start making fans happy. So, you give them big E, that’s going to make people happy.”
– Renee Paquette
Dave LaGreca asked if Big E could be the new franchise player for WWE. Paquette said he could absolutely be the franchise player for WWE. He has the athletic ability and the charisma. However, there are pitfalls to be cautious about.
“If he is given the creative liberties that he deserves and that he needs to be able to continue being the Big E that everybody knows and loves, absolutely. I think he for sure could be that guy. But like anybody else, you kind of worry, ‘What is going to happen? Are they going to drop the ball on this? Where’s it gonna go?’
“I do think he has all the tools, if you look at him from an athletic standpoint or an entertainment standpoint, just him as a human being, the things that he stands for, the things that he talks about, I do think that he really could be that guy to put the company on the back of.”
Busted Open Radio airs weekday mornings on SiriusXM Fight Nation Channel 156.
Becky Lynch thinks quite highly of Big E winning the WWE Championship.
Big E captured the gold when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on the Sept. 13 episode of Monday Night Raw. The previous champion, Bobby Lashley, had successfully defended his title against Randy Orton. Big E capitalized on his opportunity and hit the Big Ending for the victory.
Appearing on WWE’s The Bump, Lynch discussed the significance of Big E’s title victory.
“E is the best. He has talked me off many a ledge, many a ledge when I was down and couldn’t get my foot in WWE, E was always there to make me laugh because he’s one of the funniest dudes you’ll ever meet, and be so kind and patient. He’s got this calming energy that when you sit beside him, he just makes you feel better and calm and hopeful. This new era of E in WWE brings a lot of hope to not only the company, the business, but the world.”
Becky Lynch is the current SmackDown Women’s Champion. She made her surprise return at SummerSlam, defeating Bianca Belair for the gold. After Big E’s victory, Lynch hopped on Twitter to congratulate the new king of Raw.
Big E likely isn’t done with Lashley. On Sept. 26, Extreme Rules will take place inside the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. While nothing has been made official, many expect the two to meet again at the PPV.
WWE Champion Big E (that has a nice ring to it) is itching for a feud with The Hurt Business. Following his big win on Monday’s Raw, Cedric Alexander posted a message on Twitter about how things would have unfolded had The Hurt Business been in Lashley’s corner.
The Hurt Business was a group led by Lashley and MVP. The two added Shelton Benjamin and Alexander to the faction. Despite widespread praise for the group, Lashley turned on Shelton and Cedric just before WrestleMania 37.
During an interview with Complex, Big E said he’s hoping that The Hurt Business makes a comeback so they can mix it up with The New Day.
“I want to see them back. I want to see them together. Man, just the opportunity to go out there. The story is already there. The history is there, but I beat Bobby, and now Bobby needs to back up and [get] his two cast-off brothers back again. I got two brothers of my own. There are so many opportunities.”
Big E said the prospect of feuding with Roman Reigns & The Bloodline is also appealing. However, his real interest appears to be a feud with MVP’s crew.
“Imagine The Hurt Business coming back together to do battle with The New Day. All kinds of incarnations; singles matches, tag matches. Man, there’s so much that we can do there.
“So that’s the first order of business. I saw Cedric’s tweet, too, and I sent him the ‘mount up.’ Let him know: bring your boys, get the troop together, because that’s what I want. And I don’t think Bobby is ready to go quietly into that good night. I think he’s got some more fighting. So I want to see him with his troop, and let’s get this thing cracking again.”
MVP took to his Instagram page to hint at a reunion for The Hurt Business. He was seen traveling with Benjamin and alluded to “discussing business with an old acquaintance.” More on that below:
After years and years of hard work, Big E finally got the success he deserves when he cashed in his Money In The Bank contract and became the WWE champion on this week’s episode of Raw. The new champion spoke to Sports Illustrated to talk about his emotions after the big win.
The former NXT champion first detailed the minutes leading up to his victory. He recalled how he was lost in space for a moment during his match with Bobby Lashley but then he refound his focus:
“At first, I couldn’t find the hard camera, I lost where I was in space when Bobby grabbed me for the Dominator. This is the single biggest night of my career, so I wanted to get that moment right. Then, as I was going for the Big Ending, I had a very big man in my hands so I was only focused on the task at hand. After that, all I could hear was that reaction from the crowd.”
Opening up about how he felt in the moment when he finally got the pin and was handed the WWE championship, Big E said that it was a spiritual experience for him:
“It was a spiritual experience, I connected with this massive group of people that all wanted the same thing. To have that support and the people behind me, it’s a moment I’ll never forget.”
E then discussed how many people have helped him get to this point. Apart from his tag team partners of the New Day, he credited names such as Michael Tarver, Curt Hawkins and Mike Doughty for his success.
Concluding the talk was Big E’s statement that it is only the beginning of things. He said that he will stay as he is before promising to put his own spin on his title run:
“This is only the beginning, I’m still going to be myself. I’m still going to be fun. I’m going to put my own spin on this run, and I’m here with purpose and drive. I can’t wait to show everyone what I’ve got.”
The incredible WWE championship win of Big E on last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw not only created a positive buzz among fans but it apparently served as a huge morale booster for people in the locker room as well.
According to reports from PWinsider, there was a ‘huge uptick’ in morale among the talents present at last night’s show out of genuine excitement over the New Day member’s big win.
E is beloved by the locker room so his win over Bobby Lashley was seen as a huge deal. There were even some SmackDown talents who wished to be at the event for the night just to be part of the environment.
There were concerns over Lashley’s knee after the spot where he slammed Randy Orton through the table. Though the site reports that he was 100% fine.
The all-mighty did an excellent job selling his knee coming out of the spot. He received a lot of praise for his performance during his match with Orton and Big E as well.
There is no word yet on what the company is planning for Lashley after Raw. We will have to see when or if he gets a championship rematch against the new titleholder.
Big E finally reached the pinnacle of his professional wrestling career during tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw. He cashed in the Money In The Bank contract to become the new WWE champion.
Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast provided some backstage update on this big title change. According to Zarian, WWE’s original plan called for Big E to cash in his Money In The Bank contract and become champion during the WWE Draft episode of Raw.
This year’s WWE Draft was scheduled to kick off on the August 30th episode of Raw. As announced during Monday’s Raw broadcast, the WWE Draft will begin on Friday, October 1st. It will conclude on Monday, October 4th.
There has been speculation regarding WWE’s decision to put the title on Big E at this time. In hindsight, the title change occurred later than expected (September 12th, instead of August 30th), yet 3 weeks before of the Draft.
At the end of the day, Big E is WWE Champion, regardless of the scheduling changes. Big E actually explained his reason for cashing in Money in the Bank when he did:
As we approach the WWE Draft, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the New Day and which brand(s) the three members end up on.
With Big E as the new ‘top dog’ on Raw, many fans are hoping we’ll see New Day feud with Roman Reigns and his Bloodline faction. This would be an exciting program as we head into the fall season, so hopefully this does come to fruition.
Big E and Roman Reigns have been on a collision course dating back several years. The former NXT alums were previously at odds when the New Day clashed with Reigns’ former faction, The Shield.

Big E completed his promise to the WWE Universe of cashing in the Money In The Bank contract and became the new WWE champion during tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw. The new champion was joined by Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston in the ring shortly after his big win. The duo accompanied him for his backstage interview after the show was over as well.
Big E was asked how was feeling after the biggest night of his career. Replying to it, E said that he is feeling good before explaining how he feels like he has earned the title:
“I think the dream for anyone in any vocation of craft or anything is getting to [not only] do really cool things and get to the top of your craft but to do it with your best friends. I always tell this story because I never wanna forget. I will always remember the three of us just fighting to get on TV.
We have been able to do so many cool incredible things. I got to grow so much as a person, as a performer because of these guys. I could not have written a better career for myself. I am glad, in many ways that it took so long because it feels earned.” said Big E, “I am glad that I wasn’t handed things right away. That I had time to grow to do all the things that we had chance to do.”
The former NXT champion was also asked how he felt getting applause from everyone backstage after his big win. He said that it felt like the cherry on top after seeing the people who have pushed for him over the years to be there and tell him that it was a job well done. You can check out his interview below:
Big E had announced before this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw that he is going to cash in his Money In The Bank contract after the WWE championship match.
Sports Illustrated spoke to the New Day star before the show from TD Garden in Boston. When asked why he chose tonight for his cash in, the former IC champion discussed his connections to the area:
“Why not tonight? Why not the hometown of one Kofi Kingston? My sister lives here, my mom went to BC [Boston College] and Tufts [University]. Boston is a beautiful area, a beautiful town.” said E, “Why not here, why not now?,”
WWE also released a video of Sarah Schreiber talking to the heavyweight star backstage before the episode. He made similar comments in the video when asked why he decided to cash in his contract today and announce it in advance:
“Why not here, why not now? I believe in setting your intentions for the day.” said Big E, “I woke up, stretched, yawned, removed the coal from my eyes and said you know what? Let’s do it today.”
The championship match in the main event of Raw saw Bobby Lashley retaining his WWE title over Randy Orton with some help from MVP.
Big E completed his promise after the bout. He successfully cashed in his Money In The Bank contract on the All-Mighty after the main event to become the new WWE champion.
Cue the celebration, Big E is the new WWE Champion.
Big E made it clear that on the night of Sept. 13, 2021, he would make his way to Monday Night Raw to cash in his Money In The Bank briefcase. That’s exactly what he did.
E cashed in following the WWE Title match between now-former champion Bobby Lashley and Randy Orton. Lashley ended up winning the match after hitting a second Spear. After the match, Lashley attacked Riddle and sent Orton through a table. Lashley’s crucial mistake was that he hurt his knee after the match.
E saw his opportunity to strike and he took it. It wasn’t easy, however, as E had to kick out of a Spear. Eventually, he nailed Lashley with the Big Ending for the three-count to become the new WWE Champion.
There are plenty more reactions pouring in showing support for Big E after his massive title victory. You can check those out over on Twitter and other social media platforms.

WWE booked Bobby Lashley defending the WWE Title on Monday’s episode of Raw against Randy Orton while also teasing that Big E would be looming to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase.
Earlier in the day, Big E announced on Twitter that not only would he be on Raw, but planned to cash in the contract to become WWE Champion.
This title match took place in the main event of the show from Boston, MA at the TD Garden. The match was back and forth with brawling on the outside of the ring. Down the stretch, they did some near falls. Orton hit an RKO to MVP on the floor. Lashley beat Orton with a spear. Post-match, Lashley attacked Riddle then put Orton through a table. Lashley was selling his left knee as if he had injured it.
This led to Big E coming out to cash in and did. After a commercial break and with 5 minutes left, the match started. Big E went after the knee of Lashley, who did get a near fall with a spear. Big E hit the Big Ending for the win.
This was a change of original plans as WWE had already confirmed Orton vs. Lashley in a WWE Title match taking place at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view event.
It’s been reported that the reason why WWE loaded up this show and moved Orton vs. Lashley from Extreme Rules to Raw was due to Vince McMahon responding to last week’s AEW Dynamite beating Raw in the key 18-49 demo for the first time ever.
WWE previously advertised Lashley and MVP getting a Raw Tag Team Title shot against Orton and Matt Riddle, but that was nixed. Also, WWE went up against Monday Night Football for the first time this season and the NFL is a ratings monster.
Big E doesn’t plan on having the element of surprise working in his favor when he cashes in his Money in the Bank briefcase. He announced on Twitter this afternoon that he plans on cashing in the briefcase tonight on RAW and becoming the new WWE Champion.
Let’s let that cat out of the bag…I intend on cashing in my Money in the Bank contract tonight and cashing in to become WWE Champion.
Tonight’s episode of RAW will emanate from the TD Garden in Boston. Bobby Lashley is scheduled to defend the WWE Championship against Randy Orton on the show. Other matches scheduled for tonight include Charlotte Flair vs Shayna Baszler in a non-title match, AJ Styles, Mace, Omos & T-BAR vs. Mansoor, Mustafa Ali & The New Day, Natalya vs Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest will defend the US title in an Open Challenge.
Big E spoke to Sports Illustrated recently about wanting to make the most of his opportunity to become a world champion.
“I have a different perspective than a Brock or a Cena, who’s trying to become a 17-time world champion. I’m trying to get one. It has a different feel, and I’m not saying those guys don’t want it, too, but this might be my only opportunity. So I’ll show up ready and make some noise. I don’t feel like I need another year to grow. The time is now.”
The return of Brock Lesnar has changed the dynamic of the Universal title picture to a great extent but Big E is not too worried about this change. The Money In The Bank holder appeared on the latest episode of Talking Smack. He was asked if The Beast’s return affects his plans for the championship contract he is holding.
Replying to it, E claimed that Brock Lesnar has reached a level of wealth where you do stuff because you are bored. Though he claimed that Lesnar’s return is not going to deter him from his plans:
“Well, the hair was a choice. It really was a choice, but I don’t have Brock money. You know, you get to a level of wealth where you just do stuff because you’re bored, I think he’s at that level of wealth. So congrats to him.” said Big E, “He’s still a very large and massive man, but that’s not going to deter me from my plans here.”
Brock Lesnar made his return to WWE programming during the SummerSlam PPV after over a year of absence. He confronted Roman Reigns upon his comeback. The Beast Incarnate then challenged the Universal champion for his title during the September 10 SmackDown. Reigns accepted this challenge but said that the match will take place after his bout with Finn Balor at Extreme Rules.
Big E has spent a lot of time grooming himself to be a top performer. Though the former NXT champion believes that he doesn’t need any more time and he is finally ready to be the face of WWE. The New Day member recently had an interview with Sports Illustrated. He first admitted that he didn’t always feel confident about himself and credited people like Daniel Bryan and Kenny Omega for helping him.
Big E explained how his hunger for a world title is different than people like John Cena or Brock Lesnar. Mr. Money In The Bank claimed that he doesn’t need another year to grow and the time for him is now:
“I have a different perspective than a Brock or a Cena, who’s trying to become a 17-time world champion. I’m trying to get one. It has a different feel, and I’m not saying those guys don’t want it, too, but this might be my only opportunity. So I’ll show up ready and make some noise. I don’t feel like I need another year to grow. The time is now.”
E then discussed the responsibility that comes with a world title. The former IC champion said that he isn’t worried about the task of being the face of the company but he is ready to face whatever comes in front of him:
“I’m not worried about this gargantuan task of being the face of the company because I’m too focused on doing my very best to be entertaining with whatever I’m given. I’m all about handling what’s right in front of me, and I feel like I can handle whatever is in front of me. I’m ready, and I’ve been ready.”
While there is no word yet on what the plans for the Money In The Bank briefcase are, previous reports have suggested that WWE may move Big E to Raw during the upcoming Draft. It would be interesting to see if E ends up cashing his contract on Bobby Lashley instead of Roman Reigns.
Big E believes that WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns deserves more credit than he gets.
The Reigns character has been a polarizing figure in WWE for many years. Many fans believe that WWE tried to shove Reigns down their throats despite constant pushback. Over the past year, however, he has turned a corner with the naysayers thanks to his “Tribal Chief” gimmick.
Big E told News 18 that he believes Reigns should be getting more props for his contributions to the wrestling industry.
“There is a lot of work that he has done to solidify being that guy a lot of people didn’t give him credit for. People do not give him enough credit him either for what he has done in-ring and his in-ring abilities. He is an excellent pro-wrestler he is excellent at his craft and he has so many excellent matches under his belt, so, I have a ton of respect for what he has done.
“I think growing up in the business, he has always had leg up but that’s not to discredit the work he has done. I am not saying he has been handed things. I have seen him work hard. In FCW, in those days he came in just like us. But you can say he got it right away. He has a certain charisma; he has a certain presence that a lot of people didn’t have that earlier, so, we always knew he was going to be someone.
“So, I have got nothing but a good thing to say about what he has done with his career and the amount of work he has put in to deserve it because it is easier to sit on the sideline and say that should be my spot but you haven’t done that work that he has done.”
Reigns is set to headline SummerSlam tonight (Aug. 21). He’ll defend the WWE Universal Championship against John Cena. Reigns says if he loses, he will leave WWE. The action will be held inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
As for Big E, he is the Money in the Bank briefcase holder. As of this writing, he doesn’t have a match for SummerSlam but he has become involved in a feud with Baron Corbin, who stole his briefcase. Time will tell if he has an impromptu match with Corbin or a segment to get his briefcase back and potentially cash in.
Last year’s WWE Draft may have separated the New Day, but it did not defeat them. Far from it. Many, including Big E, feel the brand split just means their group gets even more exposure than it did before.
“Even though we’re on different shows, I still feel like the caveman that’s gone out and grabbed fresh meat and berries and brought it back to the cave so that my family can eat,” Big E said speaking to Bleacher Report.
Big E was largely referring to his recent Money in the Bank victory. However, in his mind, the same would apply even if he were to lift the WWE Championship. In fact, while chatting, Big E reflected that his victory wasn’t his, but rather, the groups.
“That may have been one of the greatest nights of my career,” Big E said about becoming Mr Money in the Bank. “I almost don’t want to say it because I have so much reverence for Kofi and Woods and what we’ve done together. It almost feels like saying that diminishes that, but to me, but it’s still a New Day accomplishment. I don’t think I would’ve gotten here without those guys and how much I was able to grow as a performer because of that run.”
Being in the New Day Changed Big E’s Career Forever
When they first debuted, the New Day sank almost as fast as the League of Nations faction. However, something changed. Something clicked. It was an organic growth that nobody could have stopped. Not even the big man of the group. In creating the New Day, the lives of Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were changed forever.
Even if the stable does disband, and change their personas, the legacy of the New Day will live on. From their incredible battles against The Uso’s, to their trombone-playing, pancake-flinging antics, they are a faction that changed the landscape.
“That’s still my perspective. I don’t just do this for me. Everything I do adds to our legacy as a trio.” Big E said, confirming his earlier statements about the New Day still having a lot they want to accomplish.

Mr. Money in the Bank, Big E, has weighed in on the possibility of Conor McGregor appearing for WWE.
The Notorious One has been subject to rumours of a switch from the octagon to the squared circle. There have always been strong ties between WWE and UFC, with several fighters over the years making a similar move.
However, Big E was cautious when discussing the welcome Conor McGregor would get should he make the change. During an interview with ViBe and Wrestling, Big E says he’d welcome McGregor to WWE, but isn’t sure everybody would have the same minset.
“So yeah, I would never have a problem with that,” he began. “Not everyone would welcome him or feel the same but he’s extremely entertaining. And I think if he did come to WWE, I think he would get a lot of attention. I think he would be worth the investment I’m sure for a lot of people so yeah, I would not have a problem with it.”
Big E on McGregor’s Baggage
Big E is a well-known fan of MMA, and he often shares news and stories relating to the UFC. However, even he has some doubts about the impact Conor McGregor would have on the WWE locker room. There is a fine balance that he feels the Notorious One might upset.
“For me, I guess the only stuff that bothers me, and it’s not my position to really judge him, but it’s the legal stuff you know what I mean?” Big E continued. “I take some pride in when I look around our locker room, and I’m not saying things are perfect, but I want to be in a locker room with people who are good people who obey the law, you know what I mean? Who aren’t getting in trouble and that’s the only thing.”
You don’t get a nickname like the Notorious One without being a bit of a rebel, and much has been publicized about Conor’s wild side. However, it would seem that Big E at least, could see being Conor McGregor as being the best for business.

Big E can now call himself Mr. Money in the Bank as he won this year’s Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
He beat Ricochet, Matt Riddle, John Morrison, Drew McIntyre, Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, and Shinsuke Nakamura at the WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view event in Fort Worth, Texas at Dickies Arena on Sunday night to do it.
Chaos broke almost immediately with various dives and folks getting thrown onto ladders. Morrison botched a wild dive off the top rope and missed McIntyre. Riddle hit an RKO off the top of a ladder on Rollins. Jinder Mahal came out and hit McIntyre with a chair a few times.
Riddle tossed Ricochet off the ladder and Ricochet jumped off the top rope to take out some stars. Rollins with a powerbomb to Owens from the ring onto a ladder that was outside. Big E with the Big Ending to Rollins off the ladder then grabbed the briefcase.

Big E now has a contract to challenge any champion in WWE at any time over the next year.
WWE released the following video of Big E getting emotional backstage after his big victory:
Last year, Otis won the men’s Money in the Bank briefcase in a unique match that was filmed ahead of time at corporate headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. He never got to cash-in the briefcase thanks to The Miz, who went onto win the title.
Big E recently was interviewed by Sports Illustrated to hype up him being in the Money in the Bank ladder match on tonight’s show. During the discussion, Big E spoke about what he will do if he happens to win the MITB briefcase.
“If it’s my time to grab that briefcase, I will do everything in my power to make it unique and to make it different,” he said. “It would be a new challenge, one that I would love to take on.”
Big E has never won a world championship on the main roster in WWE. Winning the MITB briefcase could put him in a position to do that, however.
“I know we often see heels in that position,” he continued. “I would love to bring a whole new energy to this.”
Big E was split up from Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston in last October’s Draft. He went to Smackdown while the rest of his trio went to RAW. Ever since, Big E has been a singles competitor on the brand.
“This is all new ground for me, and it’s such an exciting time,” said Big E. “There are going to be no regrets. I will do everything in my power to bring something special to this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
The New Day were a group that shook up the WWE Universe. Their growth and appeal had the organic surge that no amount of creative talent could scribe. They dominated the scene until they were separated in the last WWE Draft. Since then, Big E has been left to go it alone as a singles competitor.
This is a role he has relished, and a challenge he has risen to. As of writing, he stands on the precipice of something great. The Money in the Bank ladder match and a near-guaranteed championship run. During a recent chat with TalkSport, Big E spoke about WWE trying to break up New Day. He alluded to a conversation with WWE boss Vince McMahon and his desire to see the New Day disband in dramatic fashion.
Big E told Alex McCarthy, “I know there were rumors for a while that certain things were pitched, but I think because we had been so adamant about not wanting to be broken up, I think that’s where people were like ‘Ehhh, I don’t know if we should because they really don’t want it.’ I can’t really divulge the conversation, but even from the top of the business, the very head of what we do – you know exactly who I’m talking about – he directly told us ‘Hey, this is the idea’ and we said, we’re not feeling it.”
He added that this conversation took place after KofiMania, but the idea of him turning on Kingston and Woods had been pitched several times prior.
New Day Has More to Offer
A betrayal is a classic way for a group to disband. There have been times over the years where such a thing looked likely for the New Day. Whether it be jealousy at Kofi’s championship run, or when Bray Wyatt put his spell on Xavier Woods. However, Big E is glad they were able to convince the creative folk at WWE otherwise.
“I think we still have so much to offer as a group, and I just like telling stories in a different way. I get our business is a business of conflict, but I think the story of brotherhood and three guys who genuinely want the best for each other is different and unique.”
Big E is enjoying his singles push; however, the group have already shown that individual success doesn’t weaken their bond as a group. With the 2021 WWE draft drawing ever closer, could we be seeing the New Day reunited?

Big E has been one of the top SmackDown babyfaces for a long time but his current run on the show might be coming to an end soon.
According to WrestleVotes on Twitter, WWE officials are considering moving the former Intercontinental champion to Raw from the blue brand during the upcoming drafts in August.
The idea is for E to reunite with his New Day partners on Mondays but not join them as a team again. The former NXT champion is expected to continue to focus on his singles career instead:
I’ve heard from a few sources an idea making the rounds – Big E moving from SD to RAW in the post SummerSlam draft while still be pushed as a singles. In essence, New Day back together without necessary being a team. If so, E would become a fresh face for the RAW main event scene
Drew McIntyre finished up his feud with the WWE champion Bobby Lashley at Hell In A Cell. With McIntyre out of the title picture, the red brand has an opening for underutilized babyfaces to step up to the All Mighty.
Fans have been demanding a world title push for Big E from a while now. Changing brands may help him get a fresh opportunity to gain momentum.
With people’s support behind him, it would not be a surprise if the New Day member ends up being the one to defeat Bobby Lashley for the WWE title somewhere down the line.
What do you think about Big E potentially changing brands during the upcoming WWE drafts? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section.

A new report from PWinsider provides some insight on the reason behind their absence. It reveals that both the stars were actually backstage at the TV tapings.
According to the site, keeping E and Black off TV was a creative decision. The officials decided to let the story hang for a week before continuing with it.
It is a rare instance of the creatives actually letting things breathe and not rushing the feud between the two former NXT stars which is usually the case.
Last week’s episode of SmackDown saw Aleister Black finally making his return to WWE programming after months of absence and attacking Big E.
The New Day member was competing in a fatal four-way match for the Intercontinental championship. At a point, it looked like the heavyweight star was going to re-capture the title.
However, Black whose return had been teased in previous few weeks made a surprise appearance during the show. He attacked E with a black mass, allowing the current champion Apollo Crews to retain his title.
There is no word yet on where this feud is headed but it’s good to know that the officials are not rushing the rivalry for once. It would be interesting to see what the company has planned for them next.

WWE Superstar Kofi Kingston recently spoke to Sports Illustrated. The former WWE Champion and member of The New Day discussed a number of topics during the interview; including his former tag team partner Big E.
Big E is of course now a Superstar on the SmackDown brand. Whilst Kofi appears to be back in the WWE Title picture; he said that he and Xavier Woods are just waiting for WWE to put Big E in the Universal Championship conversation.
“If E gets thrust into that role, going toe-to-toe with the universal champion, if that happens, [Xavier] Woods and me are going to lose our minds,” Kingston began, speaking to SI.

“I’m not big on looking too far ahead, but if that were to happen, E will exceed every expectation” Kingston continued, praising the man who was Intercontinental Champion up until WrestleMania 37.
“He can talk, can make you laugh, he can gyrate his hips and he can beat you up” Kingston continued, praising his New Day brother. “I’m so happy to see his success with the Intercontinental championship, being able to continue the legacy of the workhorse title.”
“His way with words is unmatched, and his ability to connect with the crowd is very special. E is ready to be at the top of this industry” Kofi Kingston would conclude.
The latest match between Big E and Apollo Crews took place in a Nigerian Drum Match at Sunday’s (April 11, 2021) WWE WrestleMania 37 pay-per-view event.
The match had weapons around the ring from kendo sticks to tables to drums. The finish saw Crews put him on a table, but missed a splash off the top rope and went through it. This led to Commander Azeez aka Dabba Kato to run out and attack Big E, which led to Crews winning the title.
On the April 2nd edition of SmackDown, Crews cut a backstage promo challenging Big E to this match. In that promo, he noted that it was an ancient duel created by his ancestors for those who are wronged to get a chance to make things right.
WWE had Crews debut this character back in February where he has since embraced his Nigerian heritage and claiming to be a descendent of Nigerian royalty. WWE started this promo when Big E noted in a promo that Crews wouldn’t be getting another shot at the title, but they did an angle where Crews attacked Big E with the steel steps.
Last month at the Fastlane pay-per-view event, Big E retained against Crews, but after the match, Crews attacked him. There was a six-man tag team match on an edition of SmackDown in late March where Crews pinned Big E.
Apollo Crews challenged Big E for the Intercontinental Title at the WWE Fastlane pay-per-view event from Tropicana Field.
Big E beat him down in the early going including a spear through the ropes and some splashes on the apron. He was doing so while talking trash. Crews made his comeback.
They went for a small package roll up and it was botched as Big E and Crews clearly had their shoulders down, but the referee said Big E was the winner. Post-match, Crews laid out Big E. WWE didn’t air a replay of the finish.
Four weeks ago, Big E was stretchered out as part of an angle where Crews attacked him with the steel steps. This came after Big E had told Crews that he had already gotten enough chances for a title match.
Two weeks ago, Big E returned to SmackDown where he called out Crews and agreed to give him the title match. When Crews wouldn’t come down to the ring, Big E did an open challenge and beat Zayn. After the match, Crews beat Big E down. After the show, Crews stated that he doesn’t cater to Big E and said he would face him at Fastlane.
