  • WWE Edits Hart’s TE Speech, Goldberg Upset With Hitman

Bret Hart spoke with Tough Enough contestants on last night’s episode. The terms “wrestling” and “wrestlers” were censored during his speech.

It is said that show producers Shed Media US are still in talks with WWE regarding what terms can and cannot be used on the program.

The WWE Hall of Famer discussed his appearance on Twitter, writing, “The main points I said were to never hurt yourself or your opponent and to never forget the fan inside you that was sitting in the stands.”

Two-time World Champion Bill Goldberg, who struck Hart with a thrust kick to the head during a match at WCW Starrcade 1999 (resulting in a severe concussion), replied to Hart’s remarks.

He wrote, “I feel like you were talking to me….”

Regarding the injury, Hart speculated years ago that he may have suffered up to three additional concussions within matches over the course of that day along with the days immediately following Starrcade, having been unaware of the severity of his injuries. The sum total of those injuries left Hart with post-concussion syndrome and ultimately forced his retirement from professional wrestling. Hart wrote a Calgary Sun column in which he said that Goldberg “had a tendency to injure everyone he worked with.”

  • Goldberg Responds To Triple H Saying He’s Not HOF-Worthy

WWE superstar Triple H was recently interviewed by SBNation Atlanta while in town to hype WrestleMania 27 tickets going on sale last week.

During the interview, Triple H took a few shots at former WCW and WWE star Bill Goldberg. When asked about his favorite opponents, Triple H responded:

“For me, from my singles career, would probably be Rock and obviously Shawn. Between there I had a lot of hodge-podge guys, which weren’t really what you’d call classics. The Goldbergs and guys like that.”

Goldberg is a former Atlanta Falcons NFL player and made his name in the Atlanta-based WCW promotion. When asked wether Bill Goldberg deserved to be inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame in Atlanta during WrestleMania 27 weekend, Triple H responded with:

“Bill’s trying to get into the Hall of Fame. If there’s a rumor about him coming back, he probably started it. I’ve not seen any mention of his name.”

Goldberg has now responded to Triple H’s comments, writing on Twitter:

“I read HHH and HBK’s views on the #WWE HOF….everyone is entitled to their own opinion. They do have a point if induction is based on tenure”

UPDATE: WWE star Chris Jericho has also commented on the possibility of Goldberg in the WWE Hall of Fame. Jericho, who has had issues with Goldberg over the years (Goldberg not wanting to put him over in WCW and Jericho getting the best of Goldberg in a backstage scuffle), wrote:

“Hope Goldberg gets inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame! Why not, Greg Valentine, Tito Santana and Koko B. Ware are in….”

  • JR Blog: Lesnar’s Fight On Saturday, Goldberg-WM27, Cole

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

Will Brock Lesnar Be Tested This Weekend? “Damn right Brock Lesnar will be tested Saturday night in Anaheim during the next UFC PPV. Cain Velásquez is fighting for a cause, or so it seems, his heritage, but more importantly Velásquez is a great athlete who has won at every level of amateur and professional  competition. Plus, any heavyweight in UFC is always only one punch away from ending his  night’s work. I see Lesnar winning Saturday but not without having a great night of stand up defense and using his size advantage appropriately. Lesnar being already at 265 and shredded is a scary thought for any human being who has to deal with the baddest man in MMA.

Criticism Of Michael Cole: “Michael Cole does not deserve to be piled on like many are doing. Michael is fulfilling a role on a fictional, TV show. He has been ‘cast’ to play this role as best as he can. For those that have never sat in that particular seat, let me assure you that it isn’t easy. Cole’s new persona must be working because never before have so many fans, for better or for worse, commented on Cole’s work.”

People Offended by Wrestling: “We’re getting too many emails from fans who are ‘offended’ by what they see on TV wrestling shows. Do you know what I do when I’m offended by a TV program? You got it…I change the channel. TV viewers should not become overly concerned about what they cannot change regarding a TV broadcast. For me to be a part of the recent WWE image video was both a surprise and a true feel good moment. I am very proud of my work in WWE over the years, the great people that I have worked with there and the company as a whole that has provided my family with a great quality of life. It’s cool to know that my grandkids can hear my work as the years roll by thanks to www.wweclassics.com and WWE On Demand.”

Bill Goldberg and WrestleMania 27: “Yes I do think that Goldberg could be a nice edition to WM27 in Atlanta if all the stars were aligned correctly. Bill is still in good shape and certainly n adequate enough shape to go out and have a solid match with the right guy. (No, I don’t know who the right guy is but I do know that it isn’t the Undertaker.)  I get asked Goldberg questions several times a week for the record. The second question is would Goldberg be a nice addition to the WWE Hall of Fame TV presentation in Atlanta? Absolutely and particularly if he were wrestling the next day.”

  • Names Under Consideration For WWE HOF, Plans For Pee Wee

    — Among those discussed this past week for induction into the 2011 WWE Hall of Fame were Bill Goldberg, Lex Luger and Ron Simmons.

Also under consideration for induction into the Hall is that of the Four Horsemen. Company officials would prefer to induct the group as opposed to solely Arn Anderson. However, the group’s induction will likely hinge on whether Ric Flair re-signs with TNA Wrestling once his current contract expires early next year.

WWE also has strong interest in inducting Sting into the Hall of Fame, though his availability hinges on whether he re-signs with TNA Wrestling for 2011.

    — WWE creative plans to have Pee Wee Herman and Superstars participate in “Pee Wee’s Playhouse” backstage segments when the comedian hosts Monday Night Raw on Nov. 1 in Nashville, Tennessee.

    — The Sept. 14 Friday Night SmackDown television taping at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan drew 5,059 patrons paying $201,690.

  • “The Situation” Encounters Goldberg, Massaro No-Shows Event

Jersey Shore star Mike Sorrentino (a/k/a The Situation) recently encountered former WWE and WCW Champion Bill Goldberg on the red carpet of an event in Las Vegas, Nevada. He apparently tried to upstage the former wrestling superstar, as the following was noted by The Heyman Hustle: “Our Las Vegas photographer reports “Mike Sorrentino, who is on the 16th minute of his 15 minutes of fame as The Situation on MTV’s Jersey Shore, was trying to upstage Goldberg on the red carpet at Vanity in Las Vegas. Though Goldberg was playful, you could tell he wasn’t going to let The Situation get the better of him.”

    — Ashley Massaro was scheduled to appear at K&S Wrestlefest’s “Heat Wave” event in Carteret, New Jersey this past Saturday, but no-showed the event. No reason was given for her absence and her whereabouts remain unknown at this time. This is not the first time in which the former Playboy model has no-showed a wrestling convention as she bailed on a few bookings following her departure from World Wrestling Entertainment two years ago.

On another note, one very young girl went with her mother to Saturday’s show specifically to see the former WWE Diva, but left after a few hours when they realized she was not coming.

    — Ring of Honor will tape it’s next internet pay-per-view event, Glory By Honor IX, on September 11, 2010 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. A meet-and-greet session with WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk is being offered for fans attending the event.

Wrestling icons Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Steve Austin hanging out backstage with Bill Goldberg at Brock Lesnar’s UFC title fight in Las Vegas from Saturday night:

  • The Rock, Steve Austin & Goldberg On Hand For UFC 116

After retaining his UFC Heavyweight Championship against Shane Carwin last night at UFC 116, Brock Lesnar was congratulated by former professional wrestling colleagues Steve Austin and Bill Goldberg.

Meanwhile, “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson was pointed out by the announcers during the pay-per-view broadcast, as was Austin. UFC lead announcer Mike Goldberg referred to Austin as “Cold Stone” rather than “Stone Cold,” though he corrected himself later in the evening when mentioning him again.

When Lesnar celebrated his victory in the crowd, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross and former ECW creative director Paul Heyman were shown on-camera sitting near Austin and Goldberg.

Following the pay-per-view broadcast, cameras showed Lesnar embracing Johnson in the locker room as part of his post-fight celebration.

  • Bill Goldberg Says He’s In Talks With WWE About Returning

Former World Heavyweight Champion Bill Goldberg announced on his Twitter account this evening that he’s negotiating with WWE regarding a possible return to the company.

“YES.. I am in negotiations with the WWE,” Goldberg wrote. “Looks like ‘ole Hogan and TNA missed the boat. Shame for the fans they didn’t even try.”

While Goldberg has been critical of WWE since his departure from the organization in 2004 and repeatedly said he had no interest in returning to wrestle, he acknowledged a change in heart.

“Truth is I never thought I’d even consider it…then came my son,” Goldberg said. “No one said I’d wrestle but the door is open again.”

He also added that if he ever steps foot inside a ring again, it will be alongside San Diego Chargers outside linebacker Shawne Merriman. The three-time Pro Bowler is a huge WWE fan to say the least, so much so that he asked their Twitter account on Monday if he could participate in the live chat on WWE.com.

“Also…. If I ever did step in the ring again, I have a new tag partner. He goes by the name of “Lights Out!!!! the one and only Shawn Merriman…..updating the old Goldberg/Kevin Greene duo,” Goldberg wrote.

Goldberg can be seen on Donald Trump’s reality series The Celebrity Apprentice currently airing on NBC.

  • McMahon’s Reaction To Hardy In TNA, Former Diva Backstage

    — While Vince McMahon was no-selling Jeff Hardy appearing on TNA’s three-hour iMPACT! broadcast last week backstage, it’s been said that he was “privately seething” over the former WWE Champion’s decision to jump ship to the competition. As noted earlier, WWE promptly removed Hardy from its opening video montage. WWE officials were hoping his legal issues would be settled in time for a match with CM Punk at WrestleMania, but with those plans now out the window, they’ll likely go with Punk vs. Rey Mysterio in a Hair vs. Mask Match.

    — WWE has released the trailer for its Best of Raw 2009 DVD, which hits stores two weeks from now. The video segment highlights Raw’s most notable moments from the past year — many of which courtesy of DX. You can view the trailer at the following link.

    — Former WWE Women’s Champion Molly Holly was backstage visiting friends last night at the Target Center. The former WWE Diva lives in Minnesota and typically visits friends when WWE tours the area.
