Billy Jack Haynes Trial Set for April In Connection To Death Of His Wife

Former WWE star William ‘Billy Jack’ Haynes will face trial next month on charges connected to the death of his wife earlier this year.

Haynes will stand trial on April 11, on charges of Murder in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. These charges are in relation to the death of his wife Janette Becraft, 85, who died in Portland, Oregon, several weeks ago.

Haynes was arrested in February 2024 after the authorities were called following gunfire being heard by neighbors. A tense standoff with officers ended as Haynes “eventually came out” of his home and was detained. 

Authorities who searched his home later confirmed that the body in his home was that of Becraft. In a statement, Portland PD said that Haynes was taken to a local hospital under police custody after the arrest for a medical condition unrelated to the homicide. He was officially charged with second degree murder last week

Billy Jack Haynes Charged with Second Degree Murder

We have an update on former WWE star Billy Jack Haynes regarding a fatal shooting that took place earlier this month.

Haynes was apprehended after cops were called to his home in the Lents neighborhood of Portland. Following the gunfire, authorities were called and Haynes “eventually came out” of the house. He was taken into custody following a prolonged confrontation with the offices.

Two hours later, Haynes was moved to prison. Everybody in his area was instructed to remain inside their homes throughout the standoff. In later reports, it was stated that Janette Becraft, Billy Jack Haynes’ wife, was found dead. It was allegedly from a shooting. 

However, the identities of those involved remained undisclosed in the original reports. Previously, reports stated that Haynes would face murder charges, but would be brought as soon as he was discharged from the hospital.

PW Insider reported that Billy Jack Haynes was released from the hospital on February 28 and was immediately arrested and charged with Murder in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon concerning the death of his wife in Portland, Oregon several weeks ago.

Haynes is currently being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center. He had not been charged or brought into custody as he was hospitalized after being taken into custody for a medical issue not related to his arrest.

Haynes had been a popular talent in the Portland area and had wrestled for the WWF/E in the late 1980s. He also appeared in World Class Championship Wrestling in Florida and WCW (under the name Black Blood). Jim Crockett Promotions, New Japan, and other territories among the various promotions. 

Haynes parted ways with the WWF at the beginning of 1988 amid some controversy. Haynes is said to have left the WWF after turning down to job in Portland, Oregon, his hometown. According to another angle, he wrestled the match and agreed to the outcome, but he was fired later.

Billy Jack Haynes To Face Arraignment After Being Released From Hospital

We have an update on former WWE star Billy Jack Haynes following a fatal shooting that took place earlier this month.

Haynes was arrested after cops were called to his home in the Lents neighborhood of Portland. After the gunfire, authorities were called. Haynes “eventually came out” of the house and was taken into custody following a lengthy confrontation with the offices. 

Haynes was brought into prison two hours later. During the standoff, everyone in his neighborhood was told to stay inside their homes. Although the identity of those involved were not disclosed in the initial reports, it was later claimed that Billy Jack Haynes was the one arrested and that Janette Becraft, his wife, was the one discovered dead, purportedly as a result of a shooting.

Haynes is still in the hospital and he hasn’t been formally detained or prosecuted in connection with his wife’s death.

Portland PD Gives Statement on Billy Jack Haynes, Wife Janette Confirmed Victim of Shooting

There has been an update on former WWE star Billy Jack Haynes following a fatal shooting that took place earlier this week. 

Haynes was arrested on Thursday after police were called to his home in the Lents neighborhood. Authorities were called after gunfire was heard. After a tense standoff with offices, Haynes “eventually came out” of the home and was detained. There is no ongoing threat to the community according to police. Upon inspection, the authorities found the body of Janette Becraft on the premises. 

In an update, the Portland Police in Oregan issued the following statement: 

“The suspect in the Thursday Lents Neighborhood homicide investigation is identified as William Albert Haynes, Jr, 70, of Portland. Haynes is Janette Becraft’s husband.

“He is in police custody at a local hospital while he is being treated for a medical condition unrelated to the homicide or his contact with law enforcement. Once he is released from the hospital, which may be days from now, he is expected to be booked into jail. Haynes’ charges will be released once he is booked.

Ex WWE Star Billy Jack Haynes In Custody Over Wife’s Death

Former WWE star Billy Jack Haynes left his days in the ring behind. Now, his name is attracting attention for a totally different reason, and it is very grim. He has been arrested in connection with an incident involving the shooting of his wife, Janette Becraft.

Billy Jack Haynes’ Murder Allegation

The incident with Haynes and Janette Becraft allegedly occurred in the Lents neighborhood of Portland, prompting a shelter-in-place order as police responded to the fatal shooting at 6000 SE 100th Avenue.

Upon arrival, law enforcement encountered a non-cooperative individual believed to be armed inside the residence. Following negotiations, a tactical team successfully persuaded the individual to surrender, leading to his apprehension.

Tragically, Janette Becraft was discovered deceased within the home, initiating a thorough police investigation.

Investigation Into The Murder

The Medical Examiner has confirmed Becraft’s cause of death as homicide due to gunshot wound. According to statements made to PW Insider by Sgt. Kevin Allen, Billy Jack Haynes remains in custody and is anticipated to face charges for his wife’s murder.

“I can confirm that the individual we detained last night remains in police custody this morning. He has not yet been booked into jail or charged with a crime, so we are refraining from releasing his name at this time. I am in communication with detectives, and we will update the news release as soon as there is a development to report.”

One neighbor of Haynes, while speaking to local Portland FOX affiliate KPTV, expressed profound sadness over the situation, particularly given their close relationship with the couple.

“It’s a tragedy all around. I’ve been helping take care of them as my dad and I live nearby. Recently, I was just looking after his wife, who was battling ongoing dementia. I was quite close to both of them and loved them dearly.”
