Bret Hart On Recommending Steve Austin to Vince McMahon, Being Warned About WCW

WWE Hall of Famer Bret “The Hitman” Hart reflected on recommending Steve Austin to WWE during their recent conversation on Austin’s show, Broken Skull Sessions. He also spoke about how Austin warned him about joining WCW prior to his jumping to the promotion.

“You know, this is a true story that people don’t know. I was going to Vince all the time trying to bring new guys in,” Hart shared. “I remember talking about you. You, I think, had just signed with ECW. And I said ‘Why didn’t you guys grab Steve Austin? He was free, he was available. You’re looking for new guys all the time, he’s one of the best guys down there.’ I talked to Vince about it, and I remember the next week, you were sitting in the dressing room.”

Bret Hart Remembers Austin’s Warning

Bret Hart then opened up about Austin’s WCW warning. He recalled how Austin told him that WCW didn’t know what they were doing. “Guys that had been there [in WCW], including Kevin Nash and different guys who had been there before, said ‘Don’t ever go there. They are the dumbest idiots in the world.’ I kind of knew that before I went. But I mean, they really proved that to me – that they were the stupidest people that could ever run a wrestling business.”

He named some of the talents he could have worked with, noting how WCW didn’t know what to do with him. Hart stated that he and Hogan should have worked together straight away, believing they would have done big numbers together.

Bret Hart joined WCW following the infamous Montreal Screwjob in November 1997. He would signal the letters WCW in the air following his last WWE match and debut for WCW a month later.

Bret Hart Blasts Goldberg: ‘He Hurt Everybody He Worked With’

WWE Hall Of Famer Bret Hart is one of the most honest professional wrestlers you’ll ever come across.

“The Hitman” isn’t one to mince words, and will tell you his side of things regardless of how harsh they may be. That was no different during Hart’s recent appearance on fellow Hall Of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s “Broken Skull Sessions” on the WWE Network. During the program, Hart went in on WWE Hall Of Famer and current Universal Champion, Goldberg.

Hart called Goldberg “one of the most unprofessional wrestlers there ever was in the business,” before suggesting the ex-WCW World Champion “hurt everybody he worked with.”

“I always knew what I was doing and I would hurt myself before I ever hurt another wrestler,” Bret said. “I just wish some of the wrestlers I worked with, especially at the end like Goldberg. Goldberg to me was one of the most unprofessional wrestlers there ever was in the business.

“For Bill Goldberg to be in the Hall of Fame… he hurt everybody he worked with, so he might as well wrestle a real gorilla. He was the most dangerous guy to work with. He hurt everybody he worked with. I remember Curt Hennig being in pain all the time from the matches they had, and even when I worked with Bill…

“I always think, the last words I said to Bill before we went out and had that match where he injured, ended my career… I said, ‘Bill, whatever you do out there, don’t hurt me. Do whatever you want, we can do anything, just do not go nuts.'”

Hart’s beef with Goldberg stems back decades ago during the pair’s time together in WCW. A match between the two ultimately led to a career-ending injury for Hart. As for Goldberg, after a lengthy period of time away from the ring, he has since rekindled his relationship with WWE and is a two-time and current Universal Champion.

He’s scheduled to put that title up for grabs against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 36 on April 5. This year’s WrestleMania is currently scheduled to broadcast in front of an empty crowd inside the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Bret Hart: WCW “Didn’t Know What The Hell To Do With Me”

The Montreal Screwjob, which was a result of Bret Hart signing a contract with WCW, is one of the most famous events in the history of professional wrestling.

However, the WCW run of the former World Champion that followed was a disappointment for many fans and despite him winning the WCW title two times during his time with the company, his tenure there is often described as lackstar.

WWE recently published a clip of Bret Hart’s upcoming interview with Steve Austin on Broken Skull Sessions. During the interview, the wrestling veteran talked about his disappointing run with the company, saying that they didn’t know what to do with him:

“There was so much talent I could have worked with—Booker T, [Hulk] Hogan—I should have worked with Hogan, right away, I should have had Hulk Hogan in a sharpshooter and done some big numbers with him. I went into WCW, I had more heat

I had wrestled you at WrestleMania 13, I beat Undertaker at SummerSlam, I knocked Vince [McMahon] out, I didn’t really lose to Shawn [Michaels].” recalled Bret Hart. “I had so much heat and they just didn’t know what the hell to do with me.”

Bret Hart had signed a three-year contract with WCW when he originally joined the company in December 1997. However, his run didn’t last that long.

He suffered a career-ending injury during his match with Goldberg at Starrcade 1999, and his WCW contract was terminated on October 2000.

You can check out WWE’s preview of Bret Hart on the Broken Skull Sessions below.

Here are some of Bret Hart’s most memorable moments during his WCW run:

Bret Hart Reveals He Has Skin Cancer

Bret Hart posted on Facebook recently that the doctors discovered a basal cell carcinoma on his shoulder. The Hitman also noted that he has surgery scheduled to have the skin cancer removed next week.

Hart posted the following to his official Facebook page:

“Goal for 2020 and beyond: wear more sunscreen! Basal cell carcinoma removal scheduled soon. Another opportunity to remind everyone to look after your health and #getchecked.”

Bret Hart Upcoming Appearances

Hart is booked at the upcoming WrestleCon event in Tampa Bay over WrestleMania weekend. He will be at George Steinbrenner Field on April 4th and 5th. Hart advertised the appearances on Instagram recently:

Jim Ross On Hart’s 2010 Return To WWE

Jim Ross recently spoke about Bret Hart’s return to WWE in 2010 on an episode of his podcast.

“I was happy. Anytime you can spend quality time with Bret Hart, you are better off for it,” Jim Ross said on the show.

“I’m shocked that somebody isn’t using Bret to help coach, teach, motivate young talents,” he continued. “He’s brilliant, brilliant mind. Great worker, one of the best I ever saw in my entire life.”

Eric Bischoff Comments On Bret Hart In WCW

Bret Hart signed with WCW in late 1997 and debuted on Nitro that December. Hart’s time in the company is poorly reviewed by many and Hart himself has criticized WCW for not doing more with him during his time there.

Eric Bischoff addressed Hart’s WCW run on an edition of his “83 Weeks” podcast.

“Bret was probably more affected by what happened in Montreal than a lot of people felt he should have been,” Bischoff said on the show. “It was a horrible thing, it was a bad thing, completely horrible situation and all that but once it’s over, it’s over. You’ve got to kind of move on and look for something positive to do next and Bret had a hard time letting that go. He was carrying that around with him and it was pretty obvious in a lot of conversations that we had.”

Bischoff would also say that him and Bret had a lot in common outside of wrestling during this time and their conversations were often about things outside the business.

Conrad and Bischoff then watch Bret being interviewed by Gene Okerlund on an episode of Nitro during the podcast. Bischoff’s comments about Bret Hart’s time in WCW can be viewed in the player below:

Goldberg Responds To Criticism Of Kick To Bret Hart

Goldberg recently sat down for an interview with Inside the Ropes. During the interview, the topic of Bret Hart sustaining a concussion in a match against him at Starrcade was brought up.

“I would have loved to have worked a little bit more with Bret Hart and I would have loved more than anything to have not kicked Bret Hart in the head,” Goldberg said during the interview. “And what happened, happened. There have been things said on the internet either by Bret or other people that I was malicious and he shouldn’t have been in the ring with me. Hey, I’m really sorry man but if I really wanted to hurt the guy, he would have never gotten up.”

Goldberg continued to say that the kick is something he regrets from his career.

“Accidents happen. He was an idol of mine and still is. That’s one thing that I will forever be remorseful for is the misplaced kick. He did kind of know it was coming but there are a couple of things that I wish I could have changed, that was one of them.”

Goldberg’s comments to Inside the Ropes can be viewed in the player below:

Bret Hart Says He Was Offered Leadership Of The Kliq – Group Members Deny Claim

WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart recently appeared on Inside The Ropes as part of their live tour, where he had a Q&A session. In the session, Hart claimed that he was once offered the leadership of The Kliq – the backstage group – but the claim was shut down by Kliq members Scott Hall and Kevin Nash.

The Kliq was a powerful backstage group in the WWE during the mid-1990s which consisted of Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Sean Waltman. They were known to wield an immense amount of power and influence within the company. It is known that Hart didn’t really get along with most of the members of the group.

Hart stated that he was offered the head spot for the group, but members Kevin Nash and Scott Hall claim that this never happened. Nash wrote, “F–king news to me. I was the only one he got along with.” And Hall just replied with a “WRONG” to Hart’s claims.

https://twitter.com/SCOTTHALLNWO/status/1182037660552048645

Sean Waltman also joined the conversation and gave some info.

https://twitter.com/TheRealXPac/status/1182064463647793154?s=20
https://twitter.com/TheRealXPac/status/1182073396328325121?s=20

The next night, Hart responded to Nash and said that he stands by his words.

“It was Scott Hall, Shawn Michaels, and Kevin Nash that approached me in Germany about being the head of the Kliq. That we would all take control of the top matches and we would decide who would work with who, and we would take control of the whole company.”

Bret also added that the Kliq’s plan was to control all the championship titles in the company. Shawn Michaels would only wrestle Sean Waltman and his other friends, and the titles would only revolve around the Kliq and its associates. The plan was to only wrestle with each other while the rest of the roster would stay back in the locker room.

“I don’t wanna be part of anything like that. That’s not fair to other wrestlers,” Bret explained.

“What I said last night in Belfast is absolutely true. Kevin Nash can go to hell.”

Bret Hart On Goldberg Ending His Career, Getting Chopped By Ric Flair, WWE Hall Of Fame

WWE Hall of Famer Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart was a recent guest on the Prime Time with Sean Mooney podcast. During their conversation, Hart reflected on the tragic career-ending injury he sustained, courtesy of Goldberg. He also spoke about his inclusion into the WWE Hall of Fame, and what it was like to be chopped by Ric Flair.

“I wish that Bill Goldberg had never kicked me in the head as hard as he could,” Hart said. “I don’t know how you give a guy a Hall of Fame thing for hurting as many wrestlers as Bill Goldberg hurt, and without consequence – he usually got a pat on the back and told how good of job he did out there when you’re scraping the wrestler that worked with him off the mat.”

He continued, “When Bill Goldberg kicked me in the head I honest to god I lost about $16 million in like one second. I just signed with WCW for $3 million a year for another 3 years on top of the 2 years I had left on my original contract, so it was bad timing and unfortunate.”

Wooooo

Looking back at his time in-ring, Hart recalled being chopped “all the time” by ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair. He admitted that they all hurt, describing how he would get blisters and a handprint on his chest that would last for three days.

“I remember telling him, I said ‘Ric no more chops. ‘But he said ‘it’s part of my thing, I always do a chop, people expect it.’ I said ‘if you do a chop, I got a move I do. You go ahead and chop me, give me a big chop. I’ll sell it, I’ll give you my whole chest and everything. And then I’ll look at you – and I’ll punch you right in the mouth as hard as I can.’ And I remember Ric looked at me and said ‘are you kidding?’ I said ‘no I’m not; I’ll punch you right in the nose as hard as I can.’ We never did chops after that.”

“It Was Such Bulls**t”

Bret Hart was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame back in 2006. He was inducted once again earlier this year as a part of The Hart Foundation alongside his brother-in-law, the late Jim Neidhart.

Looking back on his experience with the HOF, Hart said “So many wrestlers that were up there [in the Hall of Fame] never thanked anybody. They thanked Stephanie, and they thanked Vince, and they thanked Triple H, and I thought it was such bulls**t.”

He explained how “They should thank the wrestlers that made them, and the wrestlers that worked with them. I was so disappointed at how so many of them never thanked the wrestlers that went to all the trouble to help them. Most of them had no recollection of anyone helping them.”

Bret Hart & Natalya Reflect On WWE’s Return To Calgary

WWE presented a live event in Calgary, Alberta, Canada last night. The city has a long history with pro wrestling and WWE dating back to Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling promotion. WWE purchased the rights to the territory in the mid-80s, though some Hart family members have attempted to relaunch it over the years.

Natalya was on the card last night and her uncle Bret Hart was in attendance as well. WWE posted the following interview with the Hitman to their social media:

WWE correspondents also caught up with Natalya and got her thoughts on WWE’s return to her home city:

WWE superstar Lacey Evans was also in Alberta for the show. She received a speeding citation while in Calgary and posted her interaction with the police officer to her social media:

Earlier on her trip, Evans was not pleased to learn that Calgary was home of the Hart family.

Calgary’s Lance Storm was also in attendance for the show. Storm recently announced the pending closing of his Storm Wrestling Academy. He has suggested that he will be going on the road with a promotion in the future as his next role in wrestling.

Bret Hart Reflects On His King Of The Ring Victory

With WWE currently holding their King of the Ring tournament, many former Superstars have been reflecting on what the tournament has meant to them.

During an interview with SI.com, WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart reflected on his King of the Ring victory in 1993, calling it one of the greatest nights in his lucrative career.

“I prided myself on working different styles with different guys, and I appreciated that every single one of my matches that night was different.”

Hart competed in three different matches that night on his way to claiming the crown. He faced Razor Ramon in the quarterfinals, Mr. Perfect in the semis, and then Bam Bam Bigelow in the final on the competition.

“There’s always a lot of pressure on you on a big pay-per-view, especially a pay-per-view like that since it was the first one,” said Hart. “But I was up for the challenge.”

He explained how he looked forward to every match he had that night. Hart called Bam Bam one of the best big men in the business before likening his matches with Curt Hennig with Mad Magazine’s Spy vs. Spy, saying how they had “great chemistry together” to the point where he feels they never had a bad match. When it came to Razor Ramon, Hart stated that theirs was “the best match we ever had together.”

“It was all different stuff, too. The match with Bam Bam was so different from the match with Curt, and the match with Curt was different from the match with Razor. That’s what I remember the most about that night.”

The finals of this year’s King of the Ring tournament will see Chad Gable take on Baron Corbin Monday night on RAW.

Bret Hart Offers Big Praise For WWE Star

A number of wrestling legends have offered big praise to Drew McIntyre since his return to WWE and now WWE Hall Of Famer Bret Hart has joined this list.

Hart recently spoke to Sports Illustrated where he discussed a number of wrestling related topics, including winning the King Of The Ring tournament in 1993 and more.

While talking about the former NXT Champion, the Hitman claimed that he always respected big guys when he wrestled them and went on to praise one of top big guys of the current WWE roster:

“A big guy I’ve been a big fan of for a long time is Drew McIntyre and his work. I’m glad that he had a rebound and he’s doing really well. He’s so polished now and he’s finally getting the chance he deserves.”

Bret also spoke positively about the current Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch saying that the Raw Star has already broken some major barriers and she is now living her dream.

The wrestling legend said that Lynch is really focused, skilled and hardworking and he believes that Becky can overcome anything that anyone throws at her.

Drew McIntyre got released from WWE back in June 2014. After the release, he rebuilt himself in the independent circuit and returned to the company as a serious competitor by signing with NXT in April 2017.

Bret Hart Reportedly Declines RAW Reunion Appearance

Although undeniably stacked with legends, Hall of Famers, and notable names from the past, there will be one person not in attendance at this Monday’s RAW Reunion special: Bret “Hitman “Hart.

WWEE Hall of Famer, Bret Hart, has reportedly turned down an invitation to appear during Monday’s episode that will feature names such as Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to list just a few.

According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, Hart declined the offer but noted that there was no given reason as to why.

Hart isn’t the only former WWE employee to reject WWE’s offer. Both Jim Ross and Bully Ray also turned down the opportunity to return for one night.

His last televised appearance took place in May for All Elite Wrestling’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view. He would debut the promotion’s World Heavyweight Championship.
It’s worth noting that he has not signed anything with WWE that would prevent him from working with AEW. He has shared that remains open to working with either company, as long as they could come up with a fun idea in how to utilize him.

WWE Superstars from across numerous decades are scheduled to feature on Monday’s RAW Reunion, guaranteeing the WWE Universe an opportunity to see some old favorites they may not have watched in a while.

Bret Hart Reveals His Immediate Thought After HOF Incident

Bret Hart became a two time Hall Of Famer when he and his late partner Jim Neidhart were inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame as part of The Hart Foundation earlier this year. However, the induction also made some headlines due to the unfortunate incident with a fan who tried to attack Bret during his speech.

During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, the WWE Hall Of Famer and former World Champion talked about a number of things and he also revealed what were his immediate thoughts after the incident. Per Bret, he had come to honor his friend and his immediate focus after the incident was on finishing his speech:

“I came to the Hall of Fame with a real purpose to honor my friend and speak on his behalf about our accomplishments together, and I was not going to let someone ruin that moment, as soon as that disruption happened, my immediate focus was on finishing my speech and saying what I had to say. I’m glad that did not ruin the moment for Jim.”

Continuing on the topic, Bret Hart talked about Jim Neidhart and said that he loved Jim. He said that Neidhart was a team guy who liked the different styles they had. He claimed that they had a magical relationship and Hart then went on to speak about his time working in a tag team with Jim at length. You can check out Bret’s full interview at this link.

Shawn Michaels On If Bret Hart Was His Greatest Opponent

Two-time Hall of Famer and WWE Legend, Shawn Michaels was recently a guest on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast. Michaels discussed various topics and spoke at length about his first views of the NXT performance center and on an interesting note, HBK also answered a question about Bret Hart when asked if Hart was his greatest opponent ever.

The Hall Of Famer stated that everyone could be certain of that on paper and Hart and he knew that they had something special the first time they got in the ring together, even though it was a tag team match.

As per Michaels, It was one of those things that you do and it only takes a couple of touches of one another to know that there is something special here.

The former WWE Champion said that he knew he had instant chemistry with Bret Hart which would only get better with time. Continuing on the topic, He claimed that he was lucky to have similar chemistry with Chris Jericho and a handful of other Superstars.

Finally, he stated that the ability of Bret Hart and his own capability, along with their chemistry was certainly a tough combination to beat.

Shawn Michaels made his debut on the TMToW podcast in order to promote his upcoming film “90 feet from home”. During the interview, the legend spoke about many other topics as well including the NXT performance center, and a possible in-ring return.

Former WCW Publicist Turning Montreal Screwjob Into A Shakespearean Play

One of the most controversial moments in pro-wrestling history forms the basis of a recently written new play. A former publicist for World Championship Wrestling, Barry Norman, is turning the Montreal Screwjob into a 1-hour Shakespearean-styled theatre production.

Norman, who owns a movie theatre in Maine and has founded his own film festival, spoke to Mike Mooneyham about the project.

“(The script) is about 60 pages (which translates into an hour), but the final scene is the wrestling match, which should run between 10-15 minutes and it isn’t written out (except for the finish) because, as in any match, it will be improvised depending on crowd reaction at the time,” Norman said regarding the play.

Norman also described the play as “mostly drama although there are, I hope, a few moments/soliloquies of comedic value.”

Characters Slightly Altered

Characters in the play are based on the real-life players involved in the Montreal Screwjob. Their names are changed in the play, however.

The McMahon family is renamed McNugget, with family members Vic, Sophia, Shame (Shane?), and a court jester character named “Dunk the Fool.”

“As it is based on the actual Montreal Screwjob, you know how the two camps feel, but it paints a more Shakespearean picture of who is actually right – the promoter who made Hombre (Bret Hart’s character) and now wants him to do something in the interest of the promotion, or Hombre, who while grateful, feels that his years of hard work can’t allow his character to lose in the manner suggested. Both seek out counsel as to what to do, and these take place in a series of monologues and soliloquies, leading up to the actual match.”

Sid Involved

Norman also mentioned in his interview with Mooneyham, that his friendship with Sid Eudy also played a role in his deciding to work on the project.

“Sid Eudy is one of my best friends and we talk every day. I had been writing an angle for him as he would love one last run due to how he had to leave because of his injury. I think it’s an incredible angle. I also watched Viceland’s ‘The Dark Side’ series which included a segment on the Montreal Screwjob. All of those things just percolated in my head and somehow Shakespeare came out.”

Steve Austin Talks About His Favorite Opponents

WWE Hall Of Famer, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, has revealed the wrestlers he considers his favorite opponents of all time.

Speaking with Dale Earnhart Jr. on Dale Jr, Download, Austin discussed the people he enjoyed working with the most as he recalled some his top moments and matches in the squared circle.

Blood From A Stone

Austin spoke highly of his feud with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, highlighting WrestleMania 17 as a particularly memorable bout. He also reminisced on wrestling Vince McMahon, and how their feud transcended wrestling. He stated that for two years, their rivalry became mainstream water cooler talk.

Other notable legends “Stone Cold” mentioned included The Undertaker, Triple H, and Mankind. He then spotlighted one man in particular: fellow Hall Of Famer, Bret Hart.

Steve Austin believes the trust and respect the two had for one another—a mutual respect he claims was present from day one—allowed them to have truly memorable encounters. Their feud would culminate in a bloody clash at WrestleMania 13.

He considers that match an exclamation point to their feud and spoke about the moment he had to blade for the match, referring to it as a rite of passage based off what he had watched coming up in the industry.

WWE Asks Fans To Nominate Bret Hart For Canadian Walk Of Fame

WWE is asking fans to nominate Bret Hart for the Canadian Walk of Fame. Nominations for the honor are currently open and fans can vote for Bret at the following link.

“With 2019 nominations open, the timing couldn’t be more perfect to help WWE Hall of Famer Bret “Hit Man” Hart take his well-deserved spot on Canada’s Walk of Fame,” a WWE press release reads.

WWE Writer Gone Following Bret Hart’s Hall Of Fame Speech

It’s well known that Hall of Fame inductees are not supposed to mention Vince McMahon’s name during their speeches. DX had entire ‘skit’ about Vince McMahon during their speeches, poking fun at this fact.

Although DX was authorized to reference Vince McMahon, Vince’s name was also mentioned by Bret Hart. According WWE Hall of Famer Sean “X-Pac” Waltman, it cost one WWE writer his job.

“I think Bret mentioned Vince a bunch of times,” Waltman said on the show. “Vince got really hot, I think somebody got fired. And then we (D-X) went out and said it a million times and nobody got fired.”

Waltman would continue to say, however, that he was not joking about Vince firing a writer because his name was mentioned during a Hall of Fame speech.

“I’m not kidding, I’m not. Vince was pissed and I get it, that’s a thing for him,” Waltman continued.

When asked, Waltman confirmed the fired employee was the writer in charge of the segment. The writer in question is Robert Evans. A former Canadian wrestler, Evans wrestled under the name RD Evans up until 2015. He wrestled for promotions such as Ring of Honor and Chikara.

Evans tweeted the following on Thursday morning, disputing the reports that he was fired by Vince McMahon.

Bret Hart Assailant Arraigned, Told Police “It Was The Right Moment”

The man responsible for disrupting the Hart Foundation’s Hall of Fame induction speech on Saturday was arraigned in court today. A 26-year-old man from Lincoln, Nebraska was held on $1500 bond resulting from 2 counts of assault and 1 count of trespassing.

During the arraignment, prosecutors revealed that the alleged attacker told police shortly after the incident that he felt “it was the right moment” to attack Hart, who was reportedly unharmed in the skirmish. The man’s lawyers say he has been cooperating with police since the attack.

The assailant has been in trouble with the law previously. He has been arrested and is awaiting trial for stocking an MMA fighter. The fighter has said he trained at the same gym as the assailant but stopped due to concerns over thei actions.

Bret Hart’s Assailant Arraigned

Alan Fisher was in attendance when the incident occurred.

“I couldn’t believe that the security had missed him in the first place, and the next thing you know there was Shane McMahon and Travis Brown on top of him. The crowd was going crazy booing,” Fisher said. “Everyone was cheering when one of the wrestlers punched him.”

Bret’s nephew, Davey Boy Smith Jr., was also on hand during the Hall of Fame. He issued the following statement on social media:

Bret Hart’s Assailant Charged With Multiple Counts Of Assault

Last night during the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, someone jumped the ring and tackled Bret Hart while he was giving the Hart Foundation induction speech. Bret Hart’s assailant has been charged with 2 counts of assault in the 3rd degree and one count of disorderly conduct.

LA Times reporter Arash Markazi was on the scene and live-Tweeted what happened.

During the broadcast of the ceremony on the WWE Network, the screen cut to black shortly after the man grabbed Bret. Bret fell into Natalya and numerous other people jumped the ring after to quell the situation.

Drake Maverick instructed the crowd to ignore the assailant. The crowd then erupted into a big chant for Bret before the Hitman would resume his speech.

WWE Releases Statement

WWE released the following statement regarding the incident:

“An over-exuberant fan surpassed our security at ringside and made his way briefly into the ring. The individual has been turned over to the proper authorities.”

The legend of the infamous Tom Magee vs. Bret Hart WWF TV match from 1986 has taken another twist.

This match has long been considered the “holy grail” of ‘lost’ wrestling matches. Tom Magee is a world champion powerlifter, martial artist and gymnast. He was trained by Stu Hart. He was easy on the eyes and the prototype of a mid-1980’s main event wrestler.

When he joined the World Wrestling Federation, one of his first televised matches for the company took place on October 7th, 1986. He wrestled Bret Hart at a television taping from Rochester, New York. The Hitman made the green Magee look like a million bucks. Vince McMahon saw his “next Hulk Hogan.”

Magee bean touring with WWE on the C-level towns, so he could get experience without being in the public eye of major markets. Unfortunately, without an all-time great like Bret Hart to work with, Magee’s flaws were exposed. Vince eventually soured on Magee and the rest is history.

At the bottom of this article, we have embedded a clip of Colt Cabana talking about the pro wrestling career of Tom Magee and his match with Bret Hart.

Tom Magee vs. Bret Hart: Lost Tape Found

Last week, a fan named Mary-Kate Anthony announced that she has a VHS copy of the mythical match. Anthony posted a few screenshots and even this .GIF to substantiate her possession of the tape.

Wrestling fans were giddy at the prospect of finally seeing the bout. In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer commented on the situation He wrote, “[Mary-Kate Anthony] got a letter from WWE legal making it clear she could not put the tape on YouTube or share it in any form. I believe WWE sent a letter order her to send the VHS tape to them.”

Mary-Kate Anthony refutes this claim by Meltzer. She wrote on Twitter:

With all due respect Mr Meltzer, your “facts” could not be more wrong. Not one statement here highlighted is true. My DM’s are open and you could have contacted me.”

First WWE Hall Of Fame Class Of 2019 Inductees Revealed

Arguably one of the greatest tag teams of all time will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. According to a report from PW Insider, the Hart Foundation are set to be honored over WrestleMania weekend.

Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart, and their original manager Jimmy Hart will all receive the honors. Bret Hart was originally inducted into the Hall in 2006 while Jimmy Hart was inducted the year prior in 2005.

Sadly, Neidhart will be a posthumous inductee as we lost him this summer at the age of 63.

The Hart Foundation – WWE Hall Of Fame

Bret and Neidhart both joined WWE after Vince McMahon purchased Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling territory in 1984. They began teaming together at Bret’s request in 1985.

The Harts would enlist the help of “Dangerous” Danny Davis, a corrupt referee, to win the titles from the British Bulldogs on an episode of Superstars from January 1987. After a 274 day reign, they would drop the titles to Rick Martel and Tito Santana.

Bret and Neidhart would turn babyface and win the titles for the second time in 1990. They defeated Demolition at SummerSlam that year. The Hart Foundation held the titles for another 209 days before dropping them to the Nasty Boys at WrestleMania VII. Shortly after, Bret began a single’s career and Neidhart would move on to form the New Foundation with Owen Hart.

The Hart Foundation rank 3rd all-time on the list of most combined days spent with the tag titles.
