Impact Wrestling Preview 9/27: Tessa Blanchard (c) vs Faby Apache

Impact Wrestling presents their second show from their Mexico City tapings tonight. After tonight, just two more episodes will air before Bound for Glory in New York City.

Impact Wrestling Preview 9/27

Knockouts Championship
Tessa Blanchard (c) vs Faby Apache

Last week on Impact Wrestling, AAA Reina De Reinas Champion, Faby Apache, defeated Alisha Edwards. After the match, she challenged Knockouts Champion, Tessa Blanchard, to a title match. Blanchard and Faby were involved in an altercation in the locker room earlier when Blanchard was acting entitled regarding where she could put her bag down.

Blanchard will be looking for her 3rd straight title defense. She’s successfully defended the belt against Su Yung on Impact from Toronto and against Gisele Shaw at a One Night Only show from Mississauga.

Johnny Impact & Eddie Edwards vs Moose & Killer Kross

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWuVrcCCU80

This match has been announced as the main event tonight despite the Knockouts title match also scheduled. Johnny Impact’s first episode of Survivor aired last night. He’ll be looking to get revenge on Aries’ two run-in buddies ahead of their title clash at Bound For Glory.

Eddie Edwards will face Moose at Bound For Glory but tonight he’ll have a chance to get his hands on his former ally as well.

Su Yung & The Undead Maid Of Honor vs Kiera Hogan & Allie

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgK0KF5Abts

Allie and Kiera Hogan have made it their mission to stop Su Yung from locking anyone else inside a coffin. They will get their chance to take out Yung and her Undead Maid Of Honor tonight in tag-team action.

Tessa Blanchard has her eyes on Allie, however, and feels the former Knockouts Champion is just angling to get a crack at her belt. We’ll see if Blanchard gets involved this week. She has a history with both sides of this tag match, after all.

Scarlett Bordeaux Announcement

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_bJnxRv2GE

Scarlett Bordeaux has been giving advice to several wrestlers as of late. Her advice to KM and Fallah Bah helped the team get on the same page and pick up a win. It didn’t help Fallah Bah much in his Impact World Championship match 2 weeks ago, however.

The Smoke Show is set to make an announcement tonight. Bordeaux’s popularity in Mexico has been rising rapidly as of late so it will be interesting to see the reaction she gets. Her highlights on YouTube from AAA are hitting high numbers.

Brian Cage vs Jake Crist

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4apQDLeV-Ik&t=13s

Brian Cage will team up with the Lucha Brothers at Bound For Glory to take on Sami Callihan and oVe. Tonight, Cage gets a chance to get his hands on one of Callihan’s minions when he takes on Jake Crist.

The Desi Hit Squad vs LAX

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4JPgHrVUZU&t=14s

It was revealed last week that the Desi Hit Squad have a non-title match against LAX tonight. A win in a non-title match would likely move Great Gama Singh’s team into position for a title match. LAX will have to look over their shoulders as well since King and the OGZ will likely have something in store for them now that we are less than 3 weeks away from their Concrete Jungle Deathmatch at Bound For Glory.

10 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 9/13

Last night, Impact Wrestling aired their final show from the Toronto tapings. Also last night, the company traveled to Mexico City for the first of two nights of television tapings.

With last night’s show in the books, we are just 4 episodes away from Bound for Glory in New York City. 3 matches are now confirmed for Impact’s next pay-per-view.

Impact Wrestling 9/13

Austin Aries, Killer Kross, and Moose Claim Another Victim

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9uTOneheBc

  • Impact World Championship
Austin Aries (c) defeated Fallah Bah

Austin Aries challenged Fallah Bah to a World Championship match this week. Not only would he later defeat Bah, he would put his tag-team partner out of action.

Following the match, Aries, Kross and, Moose wrapped KM’s head around a chair and hammered him into the post with another chair. It’s the same move the group has used to take out Eddie Edwards and Johnny Impact.

Hall Of Fame Induction Next Week

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUgIJXIx-98&frags=pl%2Cwn

It was revealed last night that there will be an Impact Wrestling Hall of Fame induction at Bound for Glory. Impact announced the inductee will be revealed next week.

Johnny Impact Will Be Back At Bound For Glory

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ejUTVFszzs

Much like Fallah Bah this week, Johnny Impact was the victim of an assault by Aries’ crew last week.

Josh Mathews conducted an interview with Johnny. The future Survivor contestant stated he will be back for Bound for Glory on October 14th.

The Machine Took Down The Monster

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3RT3-kfOcg

  • Brian Cage defeated Kongo Kong

It was a change of pace for Brian Cage this week. Recently in Impact, Cage has been facing X-Division stars like Matt Sydal and Fenix. Tonight, he had an entirely different type of match with a much larger opponent.

Cage picked up the win just the same, however, finishing off Kong with a discus clothesline followed by an F-5.

Brian Cage & The Lucha Brothers Will Face oVe At Bound For Glory

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReWj3TN-ZXA

After he defeated Kongo Kong, Cage accepted the Lucha Brothers’ offer and will join their team against oVe.

A trios match featuring the Lucha Brothers and Cage against Sami Callihan and oVe was then made official for Bound for Glory.

Matt Sydal Will Face Rich Swann In Mexico City

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7m57goor_fg

Sydal confronted Swann in the back last night. Swann was offering words of encouragement to Fallah Bah when Sydal said he was in no position to be giving anyone advice.

Swann then challenged Sydal to a match in Mexico City.

Allie’s Not Done With Su Yung, Tessa Blanchard Not Done With Allie

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8XVM461zEU

Allie cut a promo in the back saying she doesn’t like Tessa Blanchard but rescued her last week because she promised she wouldn’t allow Su Yung to lock anyone else in a coffin.

Blanchard also cut a promo in the back saying she sees right through Allie and that Allie is just coming for her title.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyiUyHyIdZQ

On another note, Allie’s Demon friend Rosemary has been insinuating she could be back sooner rather than later.

Katarina Is Not Allowed In Joe Hendry’s Bedroom

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBqrlrnbw84

  • Alisha Edwards defeated Katarina

Katarina was in single’s action tonight. Joe Hendry and Grado opted to interrupt the match, however and played a special video to Katarina on the big screen.

Hendry has mentioned that Impact Wrestling gives him a lot of creative freedom with his videos. With that in mind, it’s likely Hendry himself came up with the idea to poke fun at an old WWE angle Katarina was involved in.

This resulted in Alisha Edwards rolling up Katarina for a quick 3-count. Katarina might be a little upset with Scarlett Bordeaux for what the Smoke Show said to her men.

King Is Trying To Provoke LAX

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mW51wBOY3Xk

  • LAX defeated the Frat

LAX defeated local wrestlers the Frat. After the match, however, King and the OGZ attempted to provoke Konnan and LAX.

Last week a ceasefire was ordered by a crime family boss. The ceasefire ends at Bound for Glory.

Bound For Glory (October 14th):

Austin Aries (c) vs Johnny Impact
  • LAX & Konnan vs King & the OGZ
  • Brian Cage & the Lucha Brothers vs Sami Callihan & oVe

Impact Wrestling 9/13 Preview: Brian Cage vs Kongo Kong

Tonight is a big night for Impact Wrestling. In real-time, the promotion will be in Mexico City for the first of two nights of television tapings. On television, Impact Wrestling will present the final show from their extended summer stay in Toronto’s Rebel nightclub.

From July 22nd to August 13th, Impact Wrestling held 5 nights of shows which produced 8 episodes of Impact television and one universally-praised pay-per-views.

Impact Wrestling 9/13 Preview

Update on Johnny Impact

The trio of Austin Aries, Moose, and Killer Kross took out Johnny Impact last week. After Johnny had declared he would be Austin Aries’ challenger at Bound for Glory, it didn’t take the champion long to try and take him out.

We will hear from Johnny Impact tonight and find out if he will be ready come Bound for Glory. It’s going to be a big few weeks for Johnny. His season of Survivor will hit the airwaves later this month.

The Lucha Brothers vs the Cult of Lee

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kH1QrsZS_LY&t=9s

While there may be rumors of Pentagon and Fenix possibly going to WWE in 2019, they will be in action on Impact Wrestling tonight. They are scheduled to go up against Trevor Lee and Caleb Konley in tag-team action.

Last week, the Lucha Bros extended an invite to Brian Cage to help them in their rivalry against Sami Callihan and oVe. Perhaps Cage and the trio from Ohio will be watching this match closely tonight.

Grado and Joe Hendry Have A Surprise For Katarina

Scarlett Bordeaux whispered something to Hendry and Grado and it doesn’t appear to be working out too well for Katarina. After Hendry and Grado lost to the Desi Hit Squad last week, Katarina belittled Grado and confessed her love for Hendry. Unfortunately for her, Hendry really does only feel platonic love for his best friend’s girl. He was upset at Katarina for attempting to kiss him.

Grado and Hendry will have some type of surprise for Katarina tonight.

Brian Cage vs Kongo Kong

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8UnJg1nWPY

Recently we’ve seen Brian Cage tear through the X-Division. He defeated Matt Sydal for the title at Slammiversary and has since defended it twice, once against the Sydal and once against Fenix.

Tonight, however, Cage will be put in the ring with someone much larger than many of his X-Division opponents. It’s Monster vs Machine as Kongo Kong takes on Brian Cage in a non-title match.

LAX In Tag Team Action

A fictional crime boss has ordered the two factions into a ceasefire until Bound for Glory in New York. LAX will be in tag-team action tonight, however. It’s likely the OGZ won’t be too far away, however, as they prepare for the blowoff to this feud in New York.

Also in Impact News:

  • Bound For Glory is officially sold-out.
  • Night of the Dummies debuts on the Global Wrestling Network tomorrow.
    • Eli Drake vs Eddie Edwards
    • Moose vs KM
    • Sean Carr vs Brute Vanslyke
    • Z&E vs LAX
    • Homicide vs TBD
    • Wagner Brown vs Axel Lennox
    • Alisha Edwards vs Rebel
    • Fallah Bah vs Richard Justice
  • Scarlett Bordeaux was yesterday’s guest on the Impact media conference call.

8 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 9/6

Impact Wrestling presented another show from Toronto’s Rebel Nightclub last night. Next week’s episode will be the last of Impact’s 5 shows over a 22-day period in the city. In total, 8 episodes and 1 pay-per-view have taken place over the last couple of months from Toronto.

Impact heads to Manchester for a live show on Sunday and then they head to Mexico City for two nights of tapings next week.

Bound For Glory Main Event Revealed

Perhaps the biggest story coming out of Impact Wrestling this week is the confirmed main event for Bound for Glory. Johnny Impact interrupted Austin Aries’ promo time last night and informed the champion he will challenge for his belt in New York.

Aries, Moose, and Kross didn’t waste any time trying to soften up Johnny. The trio wrapped Johnny’s head around a steel chair and smashed it into the steel post.

Should Johnny still be able to make it to Bound for Glory, it would kick-start a big month for him. His season of Survivor begins airing in late September, he’ll challenge Aries on the 14th, and then sets sail with the Jericho cruise at the end of the month.

Konnan Returns To The Ring At Bound For Glory

Another match booked for Bound for Glory last night was the OGZ and King to face Konnan and LAX. A fictional crime boss ordered a ceasefire between the stables leading up to Bound for Glory.

The crime boss was upset a kid got run over as part of their rivalry and has ordered them to settle things once and for all at Bound for Glory.

Rich Swann Is Sick of Matt Sydal and His 3rd Eye

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUkKzGlYp7Y

  • Petey Williams defeated Rich Swann

Matt Sydal has been saying he would like to mentor Rich Swann. He appeared at the commentary booth during Swann vs Petey Williams this week.

Swann had defeated Petey Wiliams last week with a standing shooting star press but a rematch was ordered for tonight between the two X-Division stars. Williams picked up the win after Sydal distracted Swann, allowing him to hit the Canadian Destroyer.

Swann and Sydal were seen arguing in the back later.

Allie and Kiera Hogan Rescued Tessa Blanchard

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBO8vT3OEB8

  • Knockouts Championship
Tessa Blanchard (c) defeated Su Yung

Tessa Blanchard solidified her spot at the top of the Knockouts division this week when she pinned former champion, Su Yung clean. After the match, however, Yung’s army of undead brides eerily marched a coffin onto the entrance ramp.

With Blanchard distracted, Yung attacked and hit her with the Panic Switch. As Yung was about to lock Blanchard in the coffin, however, Allie and Kiera Hogan came to the rescue. Allie has promised she won’t let Su Yung lock anyone else in a coffin.

After being rescued, Blanchard did not seem pleased with Allie or Hogan. Blanchard said she can take care of things by herself.

Brian Cage To Team With The Lucha Bros

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kH1QrsZS_LY

The Lucha Bros cut a promo in the back. They sent a message to Brian Cage that if he really wanted to know what it felt like to cause Sami Callihan and oVe pain, then he should team up with them.

Previously, Cage saved Pentagon and Fenix from a 3-on-2 beatdown from the Ohio-based wrestlers.

Katarina Does Not Understand What Platonic Means

  • The Desi Hit Squad defeated Joe Hendry & Grado

Before the Desi Hit Squad defeated Joe Hendry and Grado last night, Hendry debuted a new music video. This video was a tribute to the platonic love he feels for his buddy’s girlfriend, Katarina.

After the Desi Hit Squad defeated her team, however, Katarina cut a promo on Grado. She said he was always losing and then said she was in love with Hendry. She kissed Hendry but the Prestigious One was having none of it. He loudly questioned if Katarina knew what “platonic” meant.

Grado and Hendry were shown in the back later. It seems Grado really appreciated Hendry being a good friend to him. Wrestling loves good friends!

Eli Drake’s Great Adventure and “Night of the Dummies”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnRcY8itQtA

  • Eli Drake defeated Stone Rockwell

Eli Drake held another “Open Challenge” this week. This brought out local wrestler, Stone Rockwell. The man of adventure was quickly dispatched by Drake, however, after being attacked from behind before the bell.

Drake’s themed One Night Only pay-per-view “Night of the Dummies” will premiere on the Global Wrestling Network on September 14th. The lineup for the show is below:

  • Eli Drake vs Eddie Edwards
  • Moose vs KM
  • Sean Carr vs Brute Vanslyke
  • Z&E vs LAX
  • Homicide vs TBD
  • Wagner Brown vs Axel Lennox
  • Alisha Edwards vs Rebel
  • Fallah Bah vs Richard Justice

  • Barbed Wire Baseball Bat Death Match

  • Sami Callihan & oVe defeated Zack Wentz, Trey Miguel, & Ace Austin

Bound for Glory (October 14th)

  • Impact World Championship
Austin Aries (c) vs Johnny Impact
  • OGZ & King vs Konnan & LAX

9 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 8/30: Impact ReDefined

Impact Wrestling presented a special branded show “Impact ReDefined” tonight. The show featured two championship matches and one main event caliber tag-team match featuring the Impact World Champion, Austin Aries.

Tonight’s show was the 2nd from the August 12th, 2018 taping out of Toronto’s Rebel Nightclub.

Here are 9 Takeaways from Impact ReDefined:

Tessa Blanchard Is The New Knockouts Champion

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tx0u7DnXBk

  • Knockouts Championship
Tessa Blanchard defeated Allie and Su Yung (c) – Title Change

When Tessa Blanchard made her first appearance for Impact Wrestling at the Redemption pay-per-view, she was portrayed as a blue-chip prospect. In the months since Blanchard has shown she is one of the best women’s wrestlers on the planet.

While Blanchard came out the winner, the story this match told actually favored Allie right up to the very end. It was Allie who got the initial first bit of offense in the match and it was Allie who broke up Su Yung’s mandible claw on Blanchard near the end of the match. Shortly after this, Allie hit a codebreaker on Yung but Blanchard rolled her up, grabbed Allie’s tights, and won the title.

The Weapon X Division Continues

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Gd6HyxjZxw

  • X-Division Championship
Brian Cage (c) defeated Fenix – (2nd title defense)

Tonight’s episode started off with a 20-minute opening match that was as good as anything you’ll see on television this year. Cage dominated the match early but Fenix got back into things when he hit a rolling cutter on the entrance ramp.

Fenix reversed both Weapon X and a discus clothesline, something Don Callis made a point of mentioning on commentary. Rather than attempt one of the two moves which had already been reversed, Cage chose to give his opponent a powerbomb from the top rope instead and got the victory as a result.

After the match, oVe and Sami Callihan attacked Fenix and Pentagon. Although he initially hesitated, Cage sprinted back to the ring and took out Fenix’s attackers to close the segment.

Moose Aligns With Austin Aries

  • Austin Aries & Killer Kross vs Eddie Edwards & Moose – No Contest

In a shocking heel turn, Moose delivered a spear to his partner during the night’s main event.

Moose had been shown beaten up in the back so it looked as though Edwards would be forced to take on both Aries and Killer Kross by himself. After Edwards started the match by himself, Moose hit the ring with his head all in bandages. At the same time, it looked as though Kross had double-crossed Aries as he jumped off the apron and looked like he was refusing to tag. Moose then attacked Edwards, however, and the 3 men reveled in their clever ruse.

Austin Aries now has both Killer Kross and Moose working to protect his Impact World Championship reign.

The Kid Isn’t Dead

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pcOBq8wpW4

Following Slammiversary there have been a couple of complaints about Impact Wrestling which I’ve received. Some fans were not happy that a kid was shown run over by a car last week. These fans tend to feel the segment went too far while other fans are willing to put the angle into the same category as a Lucha Underground or Total Deletion styled scene.

What may have also thrown people off was that last week Don Callis and Josh Mathews reacted to the scene. In Lucha Underground, the idea is the commentators do not see all the over-the-top scenes and are then not in a position where they have to respond. It’s a little disturbing to the 4th wall to have a commentary team acting like the promotion’s tag-team division is running over children as part of their rivalry.

Regardless, a clear message was sent by the commentary team this week that the kid is not dead. Both Konnan and King received phone calls in their respective segments that caused them to leave immediately.

Sami Callihan vs Jimmy Havoc in Manchester

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWDM_3ouBDo&frags=pl%2Cwn

Throughout the show, fans were shown commercials for Impact’s upcoming show in Manchester on September 9th. The show will air live and for free on Twitch.

The main event will be a hardcore wrestling fan’s dream as Sami Callihan takes Jimmy Havoc in a Barbed Wire Baseball Bat Deathmatch.

The rest of the card is as follows:

  • Impact Wrestling Tag Team Championships
LAX (c) vs Jody Fleisch & Jonny Storm
  • Barbed Wire Baseball Bat Death Match
    Sami Callihan vs Jimmy Havoc
  • Eli Drake vs Joe Hendry
  • Su Yung vs Lana Austin
  • Rich Swann vs Matt Sydal vs Trevor Lee

Matt Sydal Wants To Mentor Rich Swann

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vj1xcHwxJew

  • Rich Swann defeated Petey Williams

Last week, Rich Swann told Alicia Atout he wanted to win the X-Division title. It’s a title Swann has been dreaming about his whole career. Unfortunately for Swann, the title belt is currently in the Weapon X division.

Swann defeated Williams via standing shooting star press after the two had exchanged pinning combinations. Callis suggested that Williams is too reliant on the Canadian Destroyer.

In the back, former X-Division Champion Matt Sydal offered to mentor Swann and seemed to go frustrated when Swann was not interested in his offer.

Scarlett Bordeaux Whispered Something To Grado

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC1ssMng-3w

After KM and Fallah Bah visited the Smoke Show a couple of weeks ago, the team turned things around by beating the Desi Hit Squad. This week, Grado, Joe Hendry, and Katarina were her guests.

Bordeaux whispered something to Grado which seemed to have quite the impact on him. After some hijinx ensued it was clear that whatever she whispered to Grado will do something to get in between Katarina and her boys.

Bad Intentions Debuts Friday

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXoaR8RFkRc&frags=pl%2Cwn

In addition to the upcoming Twitch special taking place a week from Sunday, Impact presents a One Night Only pay-per-view which debuts on the Global Wrestling Network on Friday night. The streaming service also features the video libraries of Destiny Wrestling, World Series Wrestling, Smash, and several other independent promotions from around the world.

The lineup for the show is as follows:

  • Petey Williams vs Michael Elgin
  • The Desi Hit Squad vs OVE
  • KC Spinelli vs Kiera Hogan
  • Steel Cage:
    Josh Alexander vs Sami Callihan
  • Tessa Blanchard vs Gisel Shaw

Eli Drake Beat Some Dummies

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ec_8g5a2yOE

Eli Drake beat both Brandon Tidwell and Mr. Atlantis this week. The two local Toronto wrestlers had defeated the Cult of Lee last week.

Speaking of Eli Drake, another Impact Wrestling One Night Only pay-per-view was filmed recently. “Night of the Dummies” does not have a release date yet but will air on the Global Wrestling Network in the near future.

The lineup for that show is as follows:

  • Eli Drake vs Eddie Edwards
  • Moose vs KM
  • Sean Carr vs Brute Vanslyke
  • Z&E vs LAX
  • Homicide vs TBD
  • Wagner Brown vs Axel Lennox
  • Alisha Edwards vs Rebel
  • Fallah Bah vs Richard Justice

Impact Wrestling “Impact ReDefined” Quick Results:

  • X-Division Championship
Brian Cage (c) defeated Fenix – (2nd Title Defense)
  • Knockouts Championship
Tessa Blanchard defeated Allie and Su Yung (c) – Title Change
  • Eli Drake defeated Brandon Tidwell
  • Rich Swann defeated Petey Williams
  • Austin Aries & Killer Kross vs Eddie Edwards & Moose – No Contest

Brian Cage: The X-Division Is What Impact Wrestling Is All About

Brian Cage was this week’s guest on the Impact Wrestling media conference call. He took the time to speak on how important the X-Division title is to him.

“This title to me is what Impact Wrestling is all about,” Cage said on the call. “It’s what put Impact Wrestling on the map.”

Cage would continue to say that the X-Division title had always been a goal of his.

“People would ask me about the idea of ever going to Impact Wrestling long before I was here,” Cage continued. “I always said I’d love to just be part of the X-Division.”

While the X-Division has always been about “no limits” rather than “weight limits” Cage’s size stands out amongst the majority of previous champions. It’s perhaps that he can do the moves other X-Division Champions have done before him despite his size, however, that is what makes Cage such a notable title-holder.

“To me, this was the main goal and the title I wanted to go for out of the gate,” Cage said.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z16e8xDcQgM&frags=pl%2Cwn

Brian Cage: Impact Wrestling’s X-Division Champion

We asked Cage what fans can expect of the “Weapon X” era he hopes to usher in while champion. Cage was quick to say he’s not looking to make the division better as it’s always been good but is hoping to make it stand out as it once did.

“I want to make the X-Division so awesome and so entertaining,” Cage continued. “That the world title becomes option C because I have option A.”

There was a time when the X-Division title felt on par to TNA Wrestling’s version of the world title. I asked Cage if he feels he can bring the title back to that level of prestige.

“Absolutely,” Cage answered. “I think that’s going to be through the quality and the entertainment and the matches set going forward.”

Cage will defend the title against Fenix on tomorrow night’s special “Impact ReDefined” episode.

Brian Cage Added To All In’s Over Budget Battle Royal

Brian Cage has been added to All In. The current X-Division Champion in Impact Wrestling will take part in the Over Budget Battle Royal during the Zero Hour pre-show on WGN.

https://twitter.com/ALL_IN_2018/status/1029865403059720193

When speaking about the event previously, Cody used Brian Cage as an example of a truly talented wrestler that there originally wasn’t a spot for on the show.

Cody said they would not want to job someone like Cage out. It looks as though the Zero Hour battle royal had an open spot, however, and now Cage is booked for the event.

Brian Cage Rips Bullet Club Members Ahead Of Chris Jericho Cruise

Brian Cage recently sent out a challenge to anyone from Bullet Club to meet him on Chris Jericho’s Rock N Rager at Sea. Several inter-promotional matches between ROH and Impact Wrestling are expected to take place throughout the cruise.

The current X-Division Champion recently appeared on “Killin the Town” with Don Callis and spoke about facing members from the faction.

“All those guys are great at what they do but they’re not Brian Cage,” Cage said on the podcast. “They are half my size and I can do, like you said, just about everything they can do.”

Cage would then continue to be complimentary of the Young Bucks and other BC members, however.

Brian Cage Issues Challenge To Bullet Club For Chris Jericho’s Cruise

Brian Cage has issued a challenge to Bullet Club for Chris Jericho’s Rock N Rager at Seat.

The current Impact Wrestling X-Division Champion released the following video:

https://twitter.com/jericho_cruise/status/1028315748467466241

. @IMPACTWRESTLING‘s @MrGMSI_BCage is SICK and TIRED of hearing about the Bullet Club! How will he retaliate on board @IAmJericho Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea?! Book TODAY to find out”

Brian Cage vs Bullet Club

Brian Cage has yet to be pinned or submitted on Impact Wrestling thus far. He defeated Matt Sydal for the X-Division Championship at Slammiversary in Toronto.

Cage then successfully defended the title against Sydal in a rematch the following night. He’s scheduled to defend his title against Fenix tonight at Impact’s tapings once again at Rebel Nightclub.

Chris Jericho Rock N Rager At Sea

Several matches have been booked for Chris Jericho’s cruise, scheduled from October 27 to the 31st.

The Young Bucks and Chris Jericho will team up to take on Cody, Marty Scurll, and Hangman Page. Also LAX recently challenged the Young Bucks.

“I’m gonna put that out there: Young Bucks meet LAX on international waters. First blood, first death, whatever the hell you wanna call it and let’s do this.”

“All right, Young Bucks, we’re calling you out,” Konnan said on his podcast. “You can stop a revolutionary but you can’t stop a revolution. Boom. We’re serious like a late period. Bring it.”

10 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 7/26

Impact Wrestling presented their first show since Sunday’s Slammiversary last night. The venue was again Toronto’s Rebel nightclub.

We also got a rematch from Slammiversary last night. Former X-Division Champion, Matt Sydal, cashed in his rematch clause or rather, as he put it, the title itself cashed in the rematch clause.

Here are 10 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 7/26:

Sami Callihan Has Descended Further Into Madness

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3BzjT4oRxs

Don’t look at Sami Callihan’s head. Don’t laugh at him and don’t make fun of him. Even if you don’t, he’ll probably think you did, however.

Callihan has become unhinged (more so) since Pentagon Jr. cut off his hair at Slammiversary.

This week we saw Callihan lose it on a guy in the urinal next to him. Callihan thought the guy was laughing at him so he and oVe beat him up and shaved his head in the washroom.

Pentagon delivered this promo later in the show:

Austin Aries Has 2 New Challengers

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fidMR6tfspY

When Austin Aries gave his Championship Address last night on Impact, much of what he said applied to both himself as champion and Impact Wrestling as a promotion.

Aries talked about how in Impact Wrestling nobody hands them a script. In Impact they allow talent to be creative as opposed to just following directions. This was as much of an Impact Wrestling address to fans as it was Aries gloating over his victory.

Eddie Edwards attacked Aries from behind, signifying he wants in the mix for Aries’ world title.

He wouldn’t be the only person who would challenge Aries by the end of the night, however. Anthony Carrelli’s student, Dustin Quicksilver, challenged Aries in the back after the champion interrupted an interview with Carelli.

Don’t Hot-Shame Scarlett Bordeaux

Scarlett Bordeaux: “I want to be remembered as the greatest women’s activist of all time.”

Alicia Atout: “Like Susan B Anthony?”

Scarlett Bordeaux: “Ew. Like Marylyn Monroe. Or Cardi B.”

Bordeaux is a heel. She is the anti-hero in terms of female wrestlers being treated as athletes rather than models. She wants to bring sexy back to wrestling but will it be to the detriment of other Knockouts in the division?

King Says Konnan Didn’t Win The War

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU8lJYnxdzk

We didn’t see LAX this week. Konnan and the tag champions are likely out of action for a week or two after the beating the OGz gave them after the match at Slammiversary. Even though LAX was victorious over the OGz, King and his crew beat up Konnan an the champs after the match was over.

King told Homicide and Hernandez that Konnan and LAX thought they won the war but they had only won a battle.

Tessa Blanchard Is A Very Good Professional Wrestler

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpHyZuymLkU

News flash: Tessa Blanchard can wrestle. Her intense style is heavily influenced by old-school wrestling eras. The ones her father and step-father, Tully Blanchard and Magnum TA, made their names in.

We spoke to Blanchard in May about what has influenced her in-ring style.

“I have huge respect for the 4 Horsemen, all bias aside,” Blanchard said of her father’s old faction. “My Dad and Arn were one of the greatest tag-teams of all time.”

“I watch that era of professional wrestling for inspiration and to study tape,” Blanchard continued to say. “I want to portray that style through my work.”

She made quick work of Rebel this week, defeating her in the very nightclub which bears her name.

The Desi Hit Squad Attacked Taiji Ishimori and Petey Williams

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itz2O9RKgV0

In the opening match, Taiji Ishimori defeated Petey Williams. After the two former X-Division Champions shook hands after the match, they were attacked by the Great Gama Singh’s Desi Hit Squad.

Gursinder Singh (Lance Storm Wrestling Academy graduate) and Rohit Raju delivered the beatdown while Gama Singh shouted instructions from outside the ring. It’s likely we see a tag match involving these four wrestlers sometime soon.

Johnny Impact Has Un-Finished Business With Kongo Kong

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewywZm95Q4A

After Johnny Impact defeated Trevor Lee this week, he said his goal is to become Impact World Champion. He said he has some unfinished business to take care of first, however.

It was Kongo Kong who put Johnny out of action and now Johnny wants his revenge.

Allie and Kiera Hogan are Coming For Su Yung

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrJRSCTlMQk

In a backstage interview, Allie said her match with Blanchard distracted her from getting even with Su Yung. Allie says she is not going to let Su Yung lock any more wrestlers in coffins. Kiera Hogan then showed up to offer her support as well.

The Young Bucks vs the Motor City Machine Guns

The GWN moment of the week just so happened to be the Motor City Machine Guns vs Generation Me (aka the Young Bucks).

Alex Shelley has been making statements lately which seem to indicate he is not returning to the ring.

The X-Division Is In The Brian Cage Era

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWgWsjyhFUI

After an action-packed main event, Brian Cage once again hit the Drill Claw on Sydal. The victory gives Cage is first-ever title defense of the X-Division belt.

Cage has never been pinned and never submitted in Impact. If anyone can beat Cage for the title, they are going to have to do something no Impact wrestler on the roster has been able to do yet.

After Slammiversary, Cage posted the following to his Instagram account:

https://www.instagram.com/p/BlkDbYolsj3/?hl=en&taken-by=briancage

quick results:

  • Taiji Ishimori defeated Petey Williams
  • Tessa Blanchard defeated Rebel
  • Johnny Impact defeated Trevor Lee
  • X-Division Championship
Brian Cage (c) defeated Matt Sydal

Austin Aries Championship Address

Austin Aries successfully defended the Impact World Championship against Moose on Sunday night.

Tonight Aries will give his championship address. We could also find out more tonight about who Aries’ next title challenger could be.

X-Division Championship
Brian Cage (c) vs Matt Sydal

After losing the X-Division championship on Sunday, Sydal will have a chance to win it back tonight.

At Slammiversary, Sydal missed a shooting star press (hitting his foot on the top rope) which allowed Cage to hit the Drill Claw for the win. How Sydal missed the shooting star press while having his 3rd eye open is still not entirely clear.

Tonight, Sydal claims it is not him who is asking for a rematch but rather the championship itself. He explained his comments recently on Twitter.

Johnny Impact Returns

Johnny Impact returned to the company at Slammiversary following time away for reality television and matrimony commitments.

At Slammiversary, Impact pinned Fenix in the fatal 4-way match. The victory should vault the former title-challenger back up in the rankings. Tonight we will find out more about what comes next for Johnny.

Scarlett Bordeaux Debut

Unfortunately, tonight might be Don Callis’ last night on commentary. He does not seem to be able to handle Scarlett Bordeaux.

The Chicago-based indie wrestler will make her Impact Wrestling debut tonight.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqlFaCuEL1A

Fallout From Slammiversary

Impact Wrestling is also advertising tonight’s episode will see the fallout from numerous Slammiversary matches.

Su Yung is still Knockouts Champion and Madison Rayne is now locked in a coffin. King and the OGz stole the titles from LAX after losing to them at Slammiversary. Several Impact Wrestling storylines will be further developed tonight.

Brian Cage On Who Fans Want To See Brock Lesnar Feud With Next

Brian Cage claims to know which feud that fans want to see involving Brock Lesnar next on WWE television.

Cage, who won the Impact Wrestling X-Division Title at Sunday’s (July 22, 2018) Slammiversary pay-per-view event, was recently interviewed by The Sports Daily to talk about various topics including working with Bobby Lashley in his last match in Impact Wrestling before the former ECW Champion made his return to the WWE.

Cage stated that it was a huge honor and was awesome of him to do that for him as he enjoyed working with Lashley and wishes that they would’ve had a slower build-up to their match but he understands the time constraints. He noted that it was a great feud and praised Lashley for being a great athlete.

“They gave him a big push over Reigns, which was awesome, I congratulated him on that. But everyone wants to see [Brock] Lesnar and Lashley. I don’t think we need Lesnar and Roman Reigns for the 16th time.”

Cage continued by stating, “He has that super X-Factor, when it comes to pay-per-view buys, I think he’s only second to Conor McGregor. Even (Ronda) Rousey ain’t drawing the numbers Lesnar is. I think he adds legitimacy both to WWE performers also to any pro wrestlers and MMA. I like his work, as far as in the ring.”

Cage added that Lashley’s got a system that’s actually pretty cut and dry but he still loves his matches and would love to work with him again.

Roman Reigns vs. Bobby Lashley to determine new #1 contender for Universal Title is slated to headline this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW to find out who will be facing Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.

Brian Cage Reveals WWE’s Plans For Him Before Release

WWE almost pulled the trigger on a pretty neat idea for Brian Cage during his time with the company back in 2008.

Cage, currently signed to IMPACT Wrestling, was in WWE’s then-developmental territory of Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). In a recent interview with The Miami Herald, Cage said that he was praised for his working ability by late Hall Of Famer Dusty Rhodes and was being considered for a main roster call-up.

A super-hero/villain gimmick was pitched that would have Cage go by the name of “Dark Claw.” He was being considered to either feud or tag team with Hurricane Helms, who had just brought back his Hurricane gimmick at the time:

“I am out there having awesome matches with Justin Gabriel, Tyson Kidd, Trent Barrreta, and Dusty Rhodes pulls me to the office and goes, ‘Let me tell you something baby. You are a phenomenal worker. You got to have something else.

“You can’t be that. Hey Matt, what’s that guy called the Honey Badger? The Wolverine yeah. But you can’t be the Wolverine because that’s a trademark, so give me something else. I went back, and I was looking through my trading cards and comics, and I said, ‘I’ll be like the Dark Claw which is Batman and Wolverine.’

“I made my attire off that, and they were going to bring me up, and then Hurricane came up and Dusty said, ‘OK, we are thinking of feuding or teaming you with Hurricane.’ So I started doing a bunch of heel promos but I got released.”

7 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling (7/5/18): LAX Civil War!

Impact Wrestling last night was a taped show from Windsor, ON, Canada. This was the second show to air from the tapings held there last month.

After tonight’s episode, there will just be two more weeks until Slammiversary and the final card for the event is becoming solidified.

Impact Wrestling
July 5th, 2018
St. Clair College
Windsor, ON, Canada

Here are the top 7 takeaways from Impact Wrestling this week:

LAX Civil War!

Bullet Club isn’t the only faction imploding this summer. A leadership issue has also torn apart Konnan, King, and LAX.

Previously, Konnan returned to the group and told Ortiz and Santana he has proof that it was King who put the hit out on him all along. Konnan’s proof was only to dispute a series of phone calls from when he was in the hospital but King confessed all the same.

Santana and Ortiz were given the chance to go with either King or Konnan and they chose Konnan. This brought out Homicide and Hernandez who took out Konnan, Santana, and Ortiz. King’s LAX then stood tall to end the show.

It’s possible we get Konnan’s LAX (Santana and Ortiz) defending the Impact tag-team championships against King’s LAX (Hernandez and Homicide) at Slammiversary.

Fenix and Rich Swann Tear The House Down

On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned that fans have been writing in to tell him about how good this match was live. Impact mentioned this on Twitter recently in an effort to promote the show.

This match received the treble of approving chants from the live crowd: “This is Awesome!” “Both these guys!” and “Fight Forever!”. Some streamers were even thrown.

After the match, oVe came out to attack Fenix. It looked as though Pentagon had made the save but then he kicked Fenix in the groin and revealed it was just Sami Callihan in a mask.

The real Pentagon came out to make the save (as did Swann) setting up our main event for next week: Sami Callihan & oVe vs. Fenix, Pentagon, and Rich Swann.

Don Callis Signs Killer Kross

One of the best parts about having Don Callis on commentary is he can give explanations as to why Impact management would do something. Such was the case this week when Callis explained why Impact signed Killer Kross after he spent several weeks assaulting people in the back (while seemingly pretending to be a security guard).

Callis explained that when they discovered Kross was the person who had been attacking people, he looked him up. Turns out Kross has a background in bare-knuckled boxing and had pro-wrestling training. Callis continued to explain that the nature of the wrestling business allows for him to sign Kross to a contract in response to his unprovoked assaults rather than say pressing criminal charges.

Kross defeated Fallah Bah in easy fashion this week. He choked out Bah and then did the same to KM after the match.

The Undead Brides Can Wrestle

We saw one of Su Yung’s undead brides wrestle this week, confirming they are able to do so. Undead Bride #1 teamed with Su Yung to take on the team of Allie and Madison Rayne.

In an interview earlier in the evening, Rayne said she was looking to Allie for guidance for when she takes on Su Yung at Slammiversary. Allie has been down some dark paths with her feuds with Rosemary (plus she was locked in a coffin a few weeks ago by Yung) and so has advice she can pass down to Rayne.

Madison Rayne picked up the win for her team in this match with the “Cross Rayne” on the undead bride.

During the match, Tessa Blanchard hit the ring looking to get revenge on Rayne. Blanchard has dropped two straight matches to Rayne via pinning combination. Allie took out Blanchard, however, possibly setting up an angle between the two of them. It’s possible we get Allie vs Blanchard at Slammiversary.

Is Brian Cage The Future of the X-Division?

The X-Division isn’t about weight limits, it’s about no limits. This vague yet somehow also descriptive explanation for the X-Division has been given since its inception. In a sense, it is meant to say the action in the X-Division is innovative, athletic, and boundary-pushing. Nobody epitomizes that more than Brian Cage.

Cage defeated Kongo Kong last night, moving a step forward to receiving another shot at Matt Sydal and the X-Division championship. On a previous episode, Sydal defeated Cage via count-out after Kongo interfered.

Sydal appeared to strike some deal with Jimmy Jacobs to have Kongo take out Cage but the plan doesn’t appear to have worked.

Shortly after the conclusion of last night’s episode, it was revealed that Cage will receive another shot at the X-Division title at Slammiversary. Will the Machine take the title from Sydal? If so, just how dominant can Cage be in this division?

Tommy Dreamer Has An Obsession With Eddie Edwards

Eddie Edwards’ feud with Sami Callihan caused him to spiral to a dark place. Tommy Dreamer, who saw his own career impacted by a similar obsession with Raven, tried to help Edwards. In response, however, Edwards’ delusions convinced him that Dreamer was involved with his wife.

Last week on Impact, Edwards traveled to Philadelphia and confronted Dreamer at a House of Hardcore show. He caned Dreamer in the head and busted him open. This week, Dreamer cut a fiery promo on how Edwards is obsessed with Sami Callihan but now Dreamer is obsessed with Edwards.

It was also revealed that Tommy Dreamer and Eddie Edwards will face each other in a House of Hardcore match at Slammiversary.

Austin Aries Wants To Send Moose to the XFL

The build-up to Moose vs Austin Aries at Slammiversary has been done through sit-down interviews. Aries claims that Moose is a failed football player trying out a new career whereas Aries is a wrestler and has always been a wrestler.

Moose, however, says he left football for wrestling. Not only that, he says he left a lot of money on the table in the NFL and even took a shot at his ex-wife for not supporting him when he decided to leave football for wrestling. Moose did mention, however, that unlike his ex-wife, his mother was supportive of his decision to chase his wrestling dream.

Aries got in the line of the night this week when he told Moose after he beats him at Slammiversary, he’d better hope the XFL is hiring.

A couple of other notes from Impact Wrestling:

  • The Great Gama Singh is running the Desi Hit Squad through several old-school drills.
  • Joe Hendry arrived in a backstage segment with Grado.
  • Konnan was able to lead the crowd in a “Gloryhole” chant during his segment with King and LAX
  • Katarina defeated Rebel
  • A new Knockout will debut shortly

Quick Results:

  1. Fenix defeated Rich Swann
  2. Killer Kross defeated Fallah Bah
  3. Madison Rayne & Allie defeated Su Yung & an Undead Bride
  4. Katarina defeated Rebel
  5. Brian Cage defeated Kongo Kong

Dezmond Xavier Talks Doing High Risk Moves, Impact’s New Direction, His Goals

IMPACT Wrestling’s Dezmond Xavier spoke to the Wrestling Epicenter for an interview where he discussed Impact working with other promotions, doing high-risk moves and more. You can check out some highlights from the interview below:

On the larger talent working in the X Division of late:

“I am still a firm believer that it is not about weight limits, it is about no limits. If you feel you can stretch the boundaries of reality, go ahead and step into the X Division and lets see what you can do! Brian Cage felt he can and has proven he can do so. It definitely goes to show it isn’t about size, it is about what you can do.”

On zero fear in doing the high risk moves:

“I kind of walked in with that mind set being influenced by some of the smaller guys and the X Division stars. Seeing the capabilities of the human body, I just went for it! I have a fearless nature so I was ready to dive in and see what my body could and couldn’t do. I think that is what put me in the position I’m in right now. I do know what my body is capable of doing and I’m capable of doing more. When the time is right, I do plan on bringing that out.”

On Impact working with external companies like Lucha Underground:

“I think that it is awesome. Unity in wrestling is something that I’ve always hoped would come about more. Instead of us trying to belittle someone else’s craft, lets uplift it! Ultimately, it is bettering overall wrestling. The unity between companies and breaking that 4th wall and it is going to reap beautiful benefits for multiple parties.”

On Impact Wrestling’s new direction under Scott D’Amore and Don Callis:

“I 100% support it. It is moving us towards our ultimate goal which is to be seen by more fans so they can have an appreciation for a different style of wrestling – New stars, new things to be seen! Just, different! We’re here to show you that wrestling is not just one way. There is another way you can have your ice cream, there is another way you can have your pizza, there is another way you can have your chicken wings. There is another way you can enjoy something you’ve been watching for a lot of years. It might be the way that you like it initially but, hey, you might come around to it!”

On his goals in Impact Wrestling going forward:

“(laughs) Number one is to win the X Division championship. Number two is to go down as the greatest X Division champion. And three, who knows? Maybe be a triple crown winner!”

Xavier also discussed his previous matches, his finishing move, his upcoming matches, and more. You can listen to the entire interview in the video below or read more highlights by clicking here.

Brian Cage To Debut For MLW Against Joey Janella (5/3)

Major League Wrestling has announced Brian Cage has signed on to compete at the upcoming Intimidation Games live event on May 3rd from Orlando, FL at Gilt Nightclub.

Cage, who competes for Impact Wrestling and Lucha Underground, will be wrestling against “The Bad Boy” Joey Janela (with Aria Blake).

“Styles make fights,” said MLW CEO Court Bauer. “Cage is a freak.  He’s got unprecedented power but a vertical leap that would put most to shame in the NFL combine. This will be a battle of a power wrestler versus a complete maniac brawler… and I can’t wait.”

Here’s the updated card for Intimidation Games, which will be an MLW Fusion TV taping:

  • MLW World Champion Shane Strickland vs. Pentagon Jr. (with Salina De La Renta)
  • ACH vs. Rey Fenix (with Salina De La Renta)
  • Jeff Cobb vs. Jake Hager (wth Col. Parker)
  • Brian Cage vs. Joey Janella (with Aria Blake)

Melissa Santos & Brian Cage Welcome Baby Daughter

Melissa Santos and Brian Cage are now the proud parents of a newborn daughter. They welcomed Skylar Faith Button to the world yesterday.

Santos was in labor for 36 hours.

Brian Cage and Melissa Santos

Cage recently participated in the last set of Impact Wrestling tapings and keeps a regular independent schedule as well. He is expected to be a part of Lucha Underground’s Season 4, as is Santos. Cage was a prospect in WWE’s system from 2008-09 but was released. He got a lot of attention in PWG afterward.

Santos’ wrestling career started in 2012 with Women of Wrestling but has since caught on as the popular ring announcer for Lucha Underground.

IMPACT Wrestling Signs Former Lucha Underground Champion

At last night’s IMPACT Wrestling tapings in Orlando, former Lucha Underground Gift Of The Gods Champion Brian Cage made his promotional debut as a signed talent. He worked two matches (both with enhancement talents) and won them both. This isn’t Cage’s first time in an IMPACT ring, as he had tryout matches with the company back in 2012 and 2013 but wasn’t signed to a deal.

Cage also wrestled at the Destination X One Night Only event in 2014. He went on to sign with Lucha Underground and won the Gift Of The Gods Championship in 2016. Here’s what IMPACT Wrestling had to say about inking Cage to a deal:

Brian Cage Talks About His WWE Release

Lucha Underground Star Brian Cage was signed by WWE back in June 2008. However, he didn’t make it past the development stage and was released in September 2009.

During his recent interview with Ring Rust Radio, Cage talked about his release from the company among other things. Below are some of the highlights from his interview:

If he will be part of Lucha Underground season 4:

“I would definitely hope to be part of the next season. Where we left off, we will see what happens because it’s been a while since we taped. I don’t know how much things will change, but I hope everything works out according to plan and I can continue to do an excellent program with Mil Muertes, Sami Callihan and King Cuerno over the gauntlet. Hopefully get my opportunity at the title again and come home with it.”

If he has any contact with WWE:

“There’s been zero contact between them and me. They were giving me the run around for 18 months about bringing me in for a try out. Finally, when they said they would bring me in, they kept saying okay the next one, the next one and the next one. Finally, they said okay we should get to this next one. I called them back the very next day and told them never mind, I don’t want to do it. I was with TNA and Lucha Underground at the time, so I just woke up and said, ‘f–k this I don’t want to do this.'”

His release from the company:

“There was a story when I got released. About six or eight months afterwards I got re-signed and then my contract got rescinded. I went back and forth with them about it and then Johnny Ace brought me down to talk to me at a show about bringing me back in. It was close to WrestleMania, so he said we will get through Mania then we will bring you in. So, after some calls and texts, he gets back to me and says they are no longer interested. So, I ask what happened. He tells me I haven’t called him or responded to him or came down to any live events. Then asked why would I waste both of our times just to say never mind? Then he says, ‘Well let’s face it kid, you’re average at best and were no longer interested at this time.’ I told him let’s really face it, I think you and I both know I am better than average, but I appreciate you responding and maybe we will work together in the future. I want to say something more about that, but it would be politically incorrect. Fast forward to the next time and I said I didn’t want to do it and they were blown away. They couldn’t believe it and asked if I wanted this or that and I just said that I’m no longer interested right now, maybe another time. It felt kind of good to have it come full circle.”

Sin Cara Unmasked During Match, Who Showed Support For Ryback?

– One of the top stories of the week is Ryback’s ongoing contract dispute with WWE and his Tumblr post from Tuesday about what he feels is an unfair pay structure for WWE performers. While you can be sure there are people in the WWE locker room who agree with Ryback’s positions, the only person to publicly show their support is Cameron. She tweeted:

https://twitter.com/WWECameron/status/727602341512237056

Meanwhile, Lucha Underground star Brian Cage also voiced his support:

Ryback’s WWE contract is expiring this summer and he’s rumored to be gearing up for a legal battle with WWE over the “Ryback” trademark.

– Sin Cara was unmasked at Tuesday night’s WWE Main Event tapings. The mask came off during his match against Baron Corbin. As soon as his face was revealed, Sin Cara scrambled to put the mask back on.

Sin Cara is currently portrayed by Jorge Arias, who used to wrestle for WWE without a mask as Hunico:

NEW YORK AND MEXICO CITY — Today, AAA, the world’s leading Lucha Libre organization, announced that its biggest event of the year, TRIPLEMANÍA, will air live on pay-per-view in the U.S. and Canada. The event has a special start time of 7pm ET / 6pm CT on Sunday August 9th.

The event will be available on iN DEMAND (including all major American cable systems and Rogers Communications in Canada), DirecTV, Dish Network as well as Bell Canada Satellite. A full list of U.S./Canadian carriers can be found at: http://www.aaalucha.com/how-to-watch.html.

The event will feature English commentary and has a suggested price of $29.95 in High-Definition and $19.95 in Standard.

Since 1992, Triplemanía has been the stage for some of Lucha Libre’s most spectacular rivalries and matches and this year is no different. For the first-time ever, Rey Mysterio Jr. will wrestle Myzteziz in a dream match between two of the most gifted and iconic masked luchadores of this era.

In a match fueled by national pride, AAA Mega Champion Alberto El Patron defends the honor of Mexico against America’s Brian Cage in a hair match.

“We hope that all of our viewers will enjoy the high pace lucha that AAA has to offer. It is exciting times for Lucha in North American and AAA wants to give to the audience a new option in the wrestling industry,” AAA General Manager Joaquín Roldán said.

“AAA is one of the hottest Latin sports media brands with a growing global presence. Triplemanía XXIII on pay-per-view is a major step for AAA’s global strategy. What better way to enter the U.S. and Canadian pay-per-view market than with this very special event” said Court Bauer, Executive Producer for Triplemanía XXIII.

This marks the first time that Triplemanía will be available live on pay-per-view. The event has previously been sold out 50,000+ capacity bullrings in major Mexican markets as well as in Tokyo and Chicago before capacity crowds. This year, the state-of-the-art Mexico City Arena (Arena Ciudad de México) will host the 23rd annual Triplemanía.

More information on additional matches, international access for the event broadcast and more will be available shortly.
