Britt Baker On How Important Tony Schiavone Has Been To Her Success

AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker recently spoke on how important Tony Schiavone has been to her success. She was interviewed on the “In the Kliq” podcast when she made the below comments.

“I will never be able to thank him for how much he’s helped me in all aspects of my life. He’s one of my best friends,” Baker said of Schiavone.

“Anytime there’s anything going on, good, bad, you know, he’s one of the first I call, first I talk to when I’m excited or to vent about [something] but just how he helped me, especially early on with those promos.”

When AEW first started, Baker was being portrayed as a babyface. She started to really find her stride shortly after turning heel, however. Tony Schiavone played a big role in her early heel promos.

“When I first turned heel, I don’t know where I would be without him because it was — I was so nervous to be cutting these live promos as a bad guy, something I had never done before and I just always knew in the back of my head, ‘Hey, if anything goes wrong, I have Tony Schiavone here. Like, he’s pretty good at this. We’re gonna be okay.’ So just to have him there and along for the ride and just like this lasting friendship I have with him, I’m so thankful for.”

Britt Baker and the Pittsburgh Steelers

Baker, a noted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, seemed to have been stressed out last night when the Sunday Night football game almost ended in a tie, something that would have eliminated her Steelers from appearing in the playoffs.

Baker headlined AEW’s Battle for the Belts event on Saturday night. She faced and defeated the #1 contender to her title, Riho. Currently, there seems to be some dissension brewing with her and her ally, Jamie Hayter that could potentially lead to a storyline rivalry between the two as well.

Britt Baker gets the last laugh after WWE scrubs her NXT appearance

AEW Women’s World champion Britt Baker was ringside NXT Takeover: War Games back in 2019. She was actually shown on camera during the broadcast, but you wouldn’t know that by watching the event on Peacock / the WWE Network.

A fan informed Britt Baker on Instagram that WWE edited her off the broadcast – “they cut your moment out lol”

Baker doesn’t seem bothered by WWE snubbing her with this edit. The Doc replied:

“That’s okay. They took me out, I took their BAY BAY”

Of course, Baker is referring to her significant other – Adam Cole, bay-bay.

After being featured as the franchise player of NXT for the past several years, Cole jumped ship to All Elite Wrestling back in September.

AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker Reveals Her Favorite Match Of 2021

Britt Baker has unveiled her favorite match of 2021 and it isn’t one that she competed in.

Many agree that 2021 was a great year in terms of quality wrestling matches. We’ve seen plenty of “Match of the Year” candidates from promotions such as AEW, NJPW, WWE, and Stardom.

This year, fans got to witness instant classics such as Will Ospreay vs. Shingo Takagi from NJPW’s Wrestling Dontaku event. Or how about that steel cage match for the AEW World Tag Team Championships at All Out between The Lucha Bros and The Young Bucks?

Of course, the hard-hitting NXT TakeOver 36 match between Ilja Dragunov and WALTER didn’t disappoint. As for the women, Utami Hayashishita and Syuri tore the house down, going past the time limit in their World of Stardom Championship match.

Britt Baker’s Personal Choice

Appearing on an episode of Busted Open Radio, Britt Baker revealed that her favorite match of 2021 has a bit of personal meaning behind it.

“This is gonna be weird for you guys but I have a match that was special to me for many reasons.

“And it’s not mine so just hold up before you say I’m like too arrogant but when we were in Pittsburgh everybody there was saying, ‘Oh my gosh, this city is so brutal, we hate coming to Pittsburgh, the fans suck.’

“And I took that as a personal attack. I’m like, ‘What? No, Pittsburgh shows up.’ The Kenny Omega-Christian match that happened, it was a great match but the fans were absolutely rabid.

“They were insane for this match and it made me so excited to just tell everybody, ‘See, the fans will come when you give them what they want.’ That match proved that because it wasn’t me.

“It wasn’t the hometown chick getting the great reaction. The place came unglued when Christian won the Impact Title. So, for me, that was a really cool moment cause that’s my city.”

The match Britt is referring to took place on the debut episode of AEW Rampage. It was held inside the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA on Aug. 13. The bout was contested for the Impact Wrestling World Title, which was held by Kenny Omega.

Britt herself had a highly-praised match in 2021. On the March 11 episode of AEW Dynamite, Britt had a Lights Out match against Thunder Rosa. The bloody matchup ended with Thunder Rosa getting the win.

First AEW Battle of the Belts Match Revealed

AEW has officially announced the very first match for their Battle of the Belts special event which will air on TNT at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on January 8th.

It was confirmed during AEW Rampage on Friday night that Britt Baker will defend the AEW Women’s Championship against Riho at Battle of the Belts in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Bojangles Coliseum.

You can see the official announcement graphic from AEW’s Twitter account below.

Riho had earned the title shot by defeating Baker back on the November 26th edition of AEW Rampage in a Black Friday Deal Match. At that point, we knew Riho would get a title shot but didn’t know when. That question has now been answered.

While no other matches have officially been announced for Battle of the Belts, many assume that Bryan Danielson will face AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page on the show. This past Wednesday night, Page and Danielson had an all-time classic on Dynamite — a match which ended in a draw after 60 minutes. The two are understandably due for a rematch, and Battle of the Belts seems like the perfect opportunity.

A Throwback to Yesterday

clash of champions

The Battle of the Belts TNT special has the flavor of the old WCW Clash of the Champions events which aired on TBS between 1988 and 1997. Most are expecting the AEW show to have PPV level excitement behind it by the time we get there.

The event will be held at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte (formerly known as the Charlotte Coliseum and Independence Arena). The venue was home to several WCW events in year’s past.

According to the WrestleTix Twitter account, AEW Battle of the Belts has sold around 73% of the alotted tickets as of press time. That’s good for 4,583 tickets sold out of a setup that will be able to hold 6,240 fans. We’d expect a good majority of those remaining tickets to move over the next couple of weeks, especially if Page vs. Danielson is announced.

Ric Flair Wants To See Charlotte Wrestle Britt Baker

Ric Flair wants to see his daughter Charlotte mix it up with reigning AEW Women’s World Champion, Britt Baker.

On the latest episode of his Wooooo Nation Uncensored podcast, Flair hyped up this potential dream match.

“Britt Baker is definitely a very nice person but, you know, I wish her nothing but the best,” said Flair. “However, I would love to see her facing Charlotte.”

As for if we will ever see that match, Flair says it all comes down to business.

Charlotte & Britt Baker

We’ll have to see if Charlotte Flair ever leaves WWE for AEW. However, if that were to happen, Charlotte vs. Britt Baker would be a no brainer.

Britt Baker recently named Charlotte as one of the people who inspired her to get into pro wrestling, along with Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bayley.

Charlotte Flair also aware that many fans are clamoring for this dream match. During a live podcast with Renee Paquette that took place over the summer, Charlotte was showered with “DMD” chants. You can see how she reacted below:

Ric Flair Done With WWE

Flair has been making a lot of headlines with comments he’s made on the new podcast. Flair lashed out at the treatment he received towards the end of his latest WWE run.

The Nature Boy so offended by the way he was treated by WWE President Nick Khan that he’s vowed to never work with the company again.

“I could never work for Nick Khan in my entire life,” said Flair. “Vince McMahon, I could work for. Nick Khan [is] the guy who orchestrated taking me off the show. I’ve got my facts together, orchestrated taking the ‘wooo’ off – never in a million years.”

Britt Baker Reacts To CM Punk Saying She’s Replaced MJF In AEW’s 4 Pillars

During the opening segment of last night’s AEW Dynamite, CM Punk told MJF he’s been replaced in the 4 pillars of the promotion by Britt Baker. The AEW Women’s World Champion responded to this recently on social media.

A user on Twitter quickly put together updated art work for the 4 Pillars of AEW t-shirt:

Later in the night, after the cameras stopped rolling, CM Punk appeared wearing Britt Baker’s jacket for some reason. Baker also responded to this on social media.

Mick Foley also commented on Britt Baker on social media last night. He noted that Baker always looks a tad jealous whenever Thunder Rosa is in the ring.

“Is it just me, or can you see the envy in Britt Baker’s eyes when Thunder Rosa is in the ring?” Foley Tweeted.

Baker responded to Foley as well.

The last time Punk was in Chicago, he noted that the crowd sure knew how to make a guy feel like “Britt Baker in Pittsburgh.” Baker commented to ESPN on what that meant to her.

“So you gotta remember I am a fan. I grew up watching CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Christian, Matt Hardy.” said Britt Baker, “So all these guys I get to work with now is surreal. It’s like a ‘pinch me’ moment. That my idols are my co-workers.”

“So I am in the back at the screen watching as a fan, watching CM Punk and he says my name, I am like ‘Did everybody hear that?’ I mean it’s so cool. Sure, we share the stage and we are both stars but that’s somebody that I was a fan of. So that’s a very very cool feeling as a wrestler, as a wrestling fan, for someone you idolize to say your name.”

Britt Baker Keeps AEW Women’s Title In Full Gear Defense

Tay Conti was the latest wrestler in the women’s division to step up to challenge Britt Baker for the AEW Women’s Title.

It happened at Saturday’s (November 13, 2021) AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event in Minneapolis, MN at the Target Center. The match featured Baker dominating most of the match with Conti fighting back. Baker did hit an Air Raid Crash on the ring apron. Conti rolled her up for the win.

On the October 23rd edition of Dynamite, Baker confirmed the match in a promo where she stated that all Conti has done since coming to AEW is showing off her ass and when they met, she would beat it.

In late October on an episode of Rampage, Baker defeated Conti’s friend, Anna Jay,  in a non-title match. Post-match, Rebel and Jamie Hayter jumped Jay until Conti came out to make the save.

This wasn’t the first time that Conti challenged for the AEW Women’s Championship as she did so on the April 21st episode of Dynamite, but fell short to then-champion Hikaru Shida.

What are your thoughts on Baker retaining the Women’s Title? Was this the right call by AEW officials? Sound off in the comment section.

Britt Baker, Tay Conti & Jade Cargill Trade Shots On Twitter

Britt Baker will defend her AEW Women’s World Championship against #1 contender Tay Conti at Full Gear next month. Conti came out to make the save after Baker continued to attack Anna Jay after their match on Rampage Friday night. Then on AEW Saturday Night Dynamite, Baker cut a promo on Conti stating that “All [Conti] has done since arriving in AEW is show everyone [her] ass.”

Baker’s promo led to responses from both Conti and #2 contender in the AEW Women’s division, Jade Cargill.

Conti opted to compare how certain parts of their actions figures look in her response:

https://twitter.com/TayConti_/status/1452079742501404675

Jade Cargill, who received a first round bye in the TBS Championship Tournament, responded to an earlier Tweet from Baker as well.

Baker then answered back with the following:

“Your tweets are as bad as your promos. I was the baddest bitch on the block before you even decided you wanted to play wrestler. No one mentioned “looks” but that’s literally all you have so I get it. If that was an attempt to body shame my ass, go ahead and kiss it.”

Cargill then answered back with a couple more Tweets.

“BODY SHAME!?! The Queen of talking about everyone else is playing the victim. Brittney please, I can’t help that God blessed me with great looks!”

Jade Cargill will face the winner of Red Velvet vs the Bunny in her first match in the TBS Championship tournament.

New AEW Full Gear Championship Match Announced

All Elite Wrestling has confirmed that Dr. Britt Baker will defend the Women’s World championshipC against Tay Conti at the upcoming AEW Full Gear PPV.

This week’s episode of Rampage saw the current champion successfully defending her title against Anna Jay. She then unleashed a post-match assault on Jay.

Conti came out to make the save for The Dark Order member. She held the women’s title high after sending Baker in retreat, suggesting that she is next in line for a shot at the belt.

AEW then confirmed on this week’s episode of Dynamite that the #1 ranked female star on the roster will get a chance to win the championship at the upcoming PPV.

The episode also featured a Britt Baker interview segment hosted by Tony Schiavone. The champion claimed that Toy Conti has done nothing in AEW except showing off her a%* and she will beat her at Full Gear.

This is the second championship match that has been confirmed for the show. Hangman Page previously won a ladder match to earn the right to challenge Kenny Omega for the AEW world title at the upcoming PPV.

AEW Full Gear this year will be taking place on Saturday, November 13. The show will air live from Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Adam Cole On Doing An Angle With Britt Baker In AEW

Adam Cole and AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker have been dating since 2017. With Cole now a member of the AEW roster, there is potential for them to be involved in a storyline together. Cole was recently interviewed by Chris Van Vliet and stated that he would be happy to take part in an angle involving both of them.

“I do love the idea of eventually doing something on-screen with Britt. I know I have been asked that before, and I know some people are like ‘Oh maybe you want to keep it separate’ or ‘Maybe you want to work together.’ I love the idea of that,” Cole said.

Cole and Baker’s relationship has come up on AEW programming, most notably when Cole dressed down Baker’s friend Tony Schiavone on-air.

Cole continued to say that he enjoyed working with Britt on the independent scene when they were briefly able to do so. Baker and Cole teamed together twice for Wrestle Circus in 2017.

“There was a small phase when I was done with Ring of Honor, where for like 3 months I was doing independent shows. I remember doing shows that she was also booked on, and in a couple of those matches we got to do some mixed tags, or she had run in or I had run in, it was really fun to work with her. Eventually, doing something like that on the big stage that is AEW, I’m all for it.”

On June 24th, 2017, Baker and Cole defeated the now-engaged team of Sami Callihan and Jessica Havok. They later defeated Roppongi Vice (Beretta & Rocky Romero) that August.

Britt Baker Reveals Which WWE Stars Inspired Her To Pursue Wrestling Career

The first choice of career for Britt Baker was her profession of a dentist. It were a few specific WWE stars that made her chose wrestling as an alternate path. The AEW women’s world champion recently made an appearance on Throwing Down with Renee Paquette & Miesha Tate. She confirmed during the interview that WWE had shown interest in signing her after she had made her AEW debut.

Speaking of WWE, Baker also revealed what actually motivated her to pursue a career in professional wrestling in the first place. She said that the matches among the four horsewomen in NXT were her inspiration:

“When I first started training, when I first said this is something I wanted to do while I’m in dental school, what really motivated me was when I started watching the Sasha, Bayley, Becky, and Charlotte matches that were happening on NXT at the time. It’s crazy because we are now, ‘competing against each other.’ Those are my idols. Those were the girls I enjoyed watching.”

Britt Baker also admitted that her original goal was to get to WWE because there was no AEW at the time. She recalled her WWE tryout alongside people like Bianca Belair and Lacey Evans when she was still in the first year of her dental college. However, the then talent development director Canyon Cemen told her to complete her dentist degree first and the rest is history.

The female star enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 2014 and graduated in May 2018. She started her wrestling training the same year from the International Wrestling Cartel. She made her professional wrestling debut in an IWC event in 2015. Baker made her AEW debut at Double or Nothing in May 2019.

Britt Baker Confirms WWE’s Interest in Signing Her

All Elite Wrestling Women’s Champion Britt Baker confirms that WWE had an interest in signing her.

Baker appeared on Throwing Down with Renee Paquette & Miesha Tate to share WWE inquired about her AEW contract. She reveals that WWE spoke with her boyfriend Adam Cole to let Baker know they wanted to sign her. However, Baker had no interest in leaving AEW.

“…You know, It’s no secret since he’s (Cole) already said it by now. Cat’s out of the bag. I’m not going to get in trouble. That WWE was definitely poking the bear a little bit through him recently when I was still signed with AEW,” said Baker. She continues, “…Without teetering the line of contract tampering. They definitely let me know that they had interest in me, but it wasn’t a mutual thing.”

Britt Baker Picking AEW Over WWE

Cole revealed that WWE tried to inquire about Baker’s contract situation when he left the company for AEW on September 5th. Before his departure, Cole shared that WWE wanted to keep Cole and sign Baker. However, those discussions didn’t go any further.

Baker re-signed with AEW to a long-term contract between August and September. She revealed on the September 1st episode of AEW Dynamite that she re-signed to AEW. However, she didn’t share when precisely she signed the new AEW contract. It’s also unclear when her new contract will expire.

Baker has also publicly shared at Planet Comic-Con that she has no interest in wrestling for another promotion. “I’m not going anywhere because I’m in the hottest professional wrestling company on the planet. I don’t need to go anywhere. They can come here, and that’s fine, but I have no desire to go anywhere because they can all come to us,” said Baker. Although things can change, Baker has expressed her happiness with AEW and plans to stay with the company for the foreseeable future.

AEW vs. ROH? Rok-C Open To Facing Dr. Britt Baker

Newly-minted ROH Women’s World Champion, Rok-C wouldn’t mind competing in a Champion vs. Champion match.

Rok-C had the wrestling world buzzing with her performance at Death Before Dishonor XVIII. She went toe-to-toe with Miranda Alize in a tournament final match to determine the new ROH Women’s World Champion. Rok-C got the win after 18 minutes of action.

Now that the “Forbidden Door” is wide open, ROH’s top female is hoping to walk through. One person she has in mind to share the ring with is current AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker.

Here’s what Rok-C told Wrestling Inc.

“I think it’s really cool. Maria Kanellis said it. There is no door. I’m open to anyone who wants to challenge me for the championship. Whether it be [at] Impact or Britt Baker or anyone. I think that would be so amazing. I’ve had so many experiences throughout my career regardless of how old I am. They’ve shaped me to be ready for matches like this. I’ve always been told you should not have to get ready. You should stay ready. If anyone wants a shot at the title I’m ready.”

Baker has been making waves in the wrestling industry as well. She’s clearly one of the most popular stars in AEW. Her heel persona has done wonders for Baker, as she wasn’t exactly “over” as a babyface right at the start.

AEW has done business with many promotions such as NJPW, AAA, Impact Wrestling, and others. Time will tell if a partnership with ROH could be in the cards down the road.

Adam Cole: NXT Was Interested In Britt Baker ‘For Sure’

It probably won’t come as a surprise to many but Adam Cole says NXT had plenty of interest in Britt Baker.

Baker is the reigning AEW Women’s World Champion. She captured the gold back in May, ending Hikaru Shida’s 372-day reign. She’s fresh off a successful title defense against Ruby Soho on the AEW Grand Slam edition of Dynamite in New York City.

Cole, the real-life boyfriend of Baker, says that the higher-ups on WWE’s NXT brand have had their eyes on the AEW Women’s World Champion. Here’s what he told Renee Paquette on Oral Sessions.

“I know for sure that NXT was interested in saying, ‘Hey, if Britt is available please let us know,’ and I know AEW was interested in me as well. It was an interesting back and forth of ‘it’d be cool if you came here’ or ‘it’d be cool if I came there,’ but we were both under contract. Not much we could do, but we did fantasize about those things.”

Baker did work as an enhancement talent for WWE in the past. She was squashed against the likes of Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. Her stock has never been higher under the AEW banner.

Cole was once under the NXT brand. During his time on NXT, Cole put together some of the best matches in the brand’s history. Once his contract with WWE was up, many felt that if Cole were to stay with the promotion he’d have to be elevated to the main roster. He ended up signing with AEW.

Adam Cole Reacts To Britt Baker Hugging Tony Schiavone

Adam Cole has responded to his girlfriend, Britt Baker, hugging Tony Schiavone on AEW Rampage.

Throughout Baker’s heel run, her friendship with Schiavone has played out on television. It’s an interesting dynamic as Schiavone is a face commentator. It’s also led to some funny segments but Cole isn’t exactly laughing.

Cole took to his Twitter account to give his reaction to Baker hugging Schiavone and he was at a loss for words.

Britt followed up by asking Cole what the problem is.

“I don’t get it?”

Cole once again didn’t have any words in his response.

Cole confronted Schiavone on the Sept. 8 edition of Dynamite. He made it clear that he feels Schiavone has been getting too cozy with Britt.

“I know that you’re close with Britt Baker and I swear to God if you even look at her the wrong way, I will slap those stupid glasses off your face and whoop your ass. Do you understand me? Now, get out of our ring now, you nerd.”

Schiavone recently explained why he stood in the ring for as long as he did during the segment with Cole. During a recent edition of his What Happened When podcast, Schiavone said he had to remind Cole to deliver the “nerd” line.

Tony Khan ‘Excited’ About Future Plans For AEW’s Women’s Division

Tony Khan promises he has something good cooked up for the AEW women’s division.

AEW is riding a ton of momentum with the recent acquisitions of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, and Ruby Soho. The promotion has also been gaining steam in terms of viewership. While AEW is on a high at the moment, many have criticized the company over its women’s division.

The problem doesn’t lie with talent. For critics, the issue is not showcasing multiple women’s matches on Dynamite and simply plopping those bouts on AEW Dark.

Khan addressed the criticism during his appearance on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio.

“That was one of the statements I really wanted to make at All Out, we made a ton of statements at All Out. [All Out] was our most successful pay-per-view and really, one of the great pay-per-view success stories of the last 20 years, I really believe the [women’s] division has gotten so strong and it’s gotten to be a real strength of AEW and we have a great Women’s World Champion, Dr. Britt Baker. We have some great contenders coming up and I have some real plans for the women’s division I’m very excited about and really, nobody knows about what this stuff is because I’ve got some really great matches up my sleeve and some exciting plans. But what’s happening right now is tremendous.”

At first, AEW’s women’s division appeared to be going in the direction of having a slew of Joshi talent. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, things drastically changed. Britt Baker has emerged as a star for the company but air time seems to be an issue for the rest of the female talent. That includes Hikaru Shida, who was the longest-reigning AEW Women’s Champion. Shida has mostly been seen on AEW Dark since losing the gold to Baker back in May.

Britt Baker On CM Punk Mentioning Her Name During His Debut Promo

When CM Punk made his AEW debut during the August 20 episode of Rampage, he took the name of two AEW stars in his promo – Darby Allin and Britt Baker. Even out of these two, Punk took Baker’s name first and according to the current women’s champion, it was a very very cool feeling for her.

The current champion recently had an interview with ESPN. When asked how she felt when Punk mentioned her on his promo, she said that Punk is an idol of her:

“So you gotta remember I am a fan. I grew up watching CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Christian, Matt Hardy.” said Britt Baker, “So all these guys I get to work with now is surreal. It’s like a ‘pinch me’ moment. That my idols are my co-workers.

So I am in the back at the screen watching as a fan, watching CM Punk and he says my name, I am like ‘Did everybody hear that?’ I mean it’s so cool. Sure, we share the stage and we are both stars but that’s somebody that I was a fan of. So that’s a very very cool feeling as a wrestler, as a wrestling fan, for someone you idolize to say your name.”

Britt Baker was also asked about the rise of Becky Lynch and if she sees herself becoming the biggest star in AEW to which she replied positively. The current AEW women’s champion is set to defend her title against Ruby Soho at next week’s AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam special from Arthur Ashe Stadium.

AEW Planning A Major Rematch Between Thunder Rosa And Britt Baker (Report)

AEW women’s champion Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa received a lot of praise for their lights-out unsanctioned match earlier this year. It appears AEW is looking to capitalize on that buzz with a rematch between the two.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company officials are planning a ‘major’ rematch between these two female stars.

AEW has discussed various potential stipulations for this bout between Rosa and Baker. Discussion range from a cage match to a hair vs. hair match with the idea to build it as the biggest women’s match in the promotion’s history.

Though the rematch is not expected to take place anytime this year. Per the report, this mega rematch will likely take place sometime in early 2022.

Thunder Rosa and Britt Baker were the first female stars to main event AEW Dynamite when they competed in the unsanctioned lights out match during the St. Patrick’s Day Slam special of the show on March 17, 2021.

Their match was every bit as extreme as any other unsanctioned match in AEW history. The bout was universally praised and both the stars were given credit for breaking down sexist assumptions about women in hardcore matches.

Adam Cole Reveals How Britt Baker Made His AEW Debut Special

Adam Cole relished in his AEW debut but Britt Baker made things even more special.

Cole appeared at All Out following the main event world title match between Kenny Omega and Christian Cage. Cole initially appeared to make the save for Cage and Jurassic Express following a post-match beatdown. Instead, he delivered a kick to the jaw of Jungle Boy.

Cole’s reunion with The Elite was spoiled when Bryan Danielson also made his promotional debut. Bryan aligned himself with Cage and Jurassic Express to fight off The Elite.

During his post-show media scrum, Cole explained how his girlfriend, AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker, was able to make his AEW debut that much sweeter.

“I’m so excited for the future. Sunday was one of the greatest nights of my life. It was my favorite night of my career. It’s such an exciting time. I knew last minute, Britt (Baker) knew last minute, and Britt made sure she got Momma Chugs and B-Fresh [Adam Cole’s brother] there. It made it even cooler. Britt deserves a ton of credit for that. She surprised me, she didn’t even tell me she was going to do that.”

Adam Cole had plenty of options on the table once his WWE contract expired. Cole, himself, admitted that even he thought his deal would take longer to end before signing a brief extension to finish his feud on NXT with Kyle O’Reilly. Cole didn’t have a non-compete clause, so he was free to appear at All Out.

Britt Baker Keeps AEW Women’s Title In All Out Defense

Kris Statlander was the latest wrestler in the women’s division to step up to challenge Britt Baker for the AEW Women’s Title.

It happened at the AEW All Out pay-per-view event in Chicago, IL at the NOW Arena. The match saw both ladies get an equal amount of offense in and seemed to go through quick spots early. They nearly botched a suplex off the top rope.

Baker hit the Pittsburgh Sunrise then the stomp for a near fall. Baker won with the locked jaw.

Statlander had been out of action for nearly 10 months thanks to a knee injury, but returned this past April. To get this title shot, she racked up a sixteen-match winning streak in AEW in singles matches.

Baker won the title at the Double or Nothing PPV on May 30, where she ended Hikaru Shida’s title reign of over a year.

Many fans were hoping to see Baker wrestle Thunder Rosa at this show, but they will have to wait until 2022 to see the much-anticipated rematch.

It was recently reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the plan is to build up for a major match in early 2022 although it was not said if this will be on pay-per-view or on a special episode of Dynamite.

Their first match took place a few months ago during the bloody unsanctioned main event match on an episode of Dynamite.

Britt Baker Not Interested In Wrestling Outside Of AEW

The “Forbidden Door” has led to many intriguing matches and angles but don’t expect Britt Baker to show up for a promotion outside of AEW.

Baker is the reigning AEW Women’s Champion. She captured the gold back in May at Double or Nothing when she defeated Shida. Britt’s victory ended Shida’s 372-day title reign.

As of late, we’ve seen AEW work with a slew of different promotions. We’ve seen cross-promotion with the likes of NJPW, AAA, Impact Wrestling, and NWA. It has led many fans to think of potential fantasy matchups.

Speaking at Planet Comic-Con, Britt said that if anyone wishes to wrestle her from another company, they will have to make the trip to AEW.

“I’m not going anywhere because I’m in the hottest professional wrestling company on the planet. I don’t need to go anywhere. They can come here, and that’s fine, but I have no desire to go anywhere because they can all come to us.

“Everyone has their own different path. I’m the baddest b*tch of the block in AEW and, again, if they want to come to me I welcome them all with open arms. Please step foot in my ring.”

Britt Baker is scheduled to make her third title defense against Kris Statlander. The championship match will take place this Sunday night (Sept. 5). It’ll be a part of the All Out PPV inside the Now Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Backstage News On Britt Baker’s AEW Women’s Title Run

AEW is thinking long-term as far as Britt Baker’s toughest title challenger is concerned.

Baker is arguably the most popular female competitor in AEW. Baker ended the 372-day reign of Hikaru Shida at the Double or Nothing PPV event back in May. She successfully defended her gold against Nyla Rose and then Red Velvet in her hometown of Pittsburgh.

While many agreed that Britt was primed for a run with the AEW Women’s Title once she turned heel, one match pretty much sealed the deal. Back in March, Baker and Thunder Rosa headlined an episode of Dynamite in an unsanctioned Lights Out match. Rosa won the match but Britt emerged as an even bigger star in defeat.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reports that AEW fans shouldn’t expect to see a rematch between the two this year. In fact, the plan is to save the match for early 2022. There’s no word on whether this will be a match for Dynamite or if it’ll take place on next year’s Revolution PPV.

Baker is scheduled to put her gold on the line against Kris Statlander at All Out on Sept. 5. As for Thunder Rosa, she recently signed a full-time deal with AEW and has 25 wins and just three losses with the promotion in 2021.

Britt Baker Comments On Adam Cole Possibly Joining AEW

Adam Cole reportedly will have the decision to either re-sign with WWE or test the waters as a free agent. The contract of the former NXT Champion will expire later this month shortly after SummerSlam.

AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker, who has been dating Cole for the past few years, recently did an interview with the Daily Star before the report about Cole’s status came out.

During the discussion, Baker was asked about the possibility of Cole jumping ship to All Elite Wrestling and if he would do it for her.

“He has got to hold down Tuesday night and I’ll hold down Wednesday night, right?! I think it’s funny when people say, ‘He has to go to AEW because of Britt!’ because there are so many more people at AEW who have played a bigger role in the wrestling side of his life.”

I Just Want Him To Be Happy

Baker continued by noting that The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega were in the Bullet Club for the majority of the time that Cole was a big star in ROH so he was around them. She noted that his history with some of the top stars in AEW would create endless storylines for Cole.

“But he’s happy where he is. So, if he were to jump ship and come my way, that would be awesome, but if he stays in WWE forever then I’d be happy, too, as I just want him to be happy.”

Cole nor WWE has yet to publicly comment on his contract status. It was reported that WWE executives were surprised to learn that they had let the expiration date of Cole’s contract get so close without realizing it was set to end.

Dr Britt Baker Posts Backstage Photo With Paige VanZant at BKFC

AEW Women’s Champion Dr Britt Baker D.M.D went to watch the Paige VanZant vs Rachael Ostovich Bare Knuckle Boxing fight this weekend in Tampa, Florida.

This contest was VanZant’s second fight with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships (BKFC), and she lost to Rachael Ostovich after 5 rounds via unanimous decision. VanZant has now moved to 0-2 in her bare-knuckle fighting career.

The AEW Women’s Champion tweeted that she was backstage with the fighter before she took to the ring to face Ostovich. Baker also revealed that she had sustained a broken wrist.

“With Paige VanZant…And oh yeah, I retained the title on Wednesday night at AEW Dynamite with a broken wrist. Not taking any time off either. #AndStill.”

F4Wonline.com first reported that Baker sustained the injury during her match on AEW Dynamite Fyter Fest Part 2 this past Wednesday. Britt Baker retained her AEW Championship against Nyla Rose after making the challenger tap out in the Lockjaw.

Paige VanZant has said in the past that pro wrestling is an avenue she is considering. With the former UFC fighter now 0-2 in bare-knuckle, she may look at AEW or WWE as her next career move.

VanZant has apparently spoken to WWE in the past, so the chance for a move to the squared circle isn’t out of the question for the former MMA fighter.
