Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton Announced For SummerSlam

WWE announced on SmackDown that Brock Lensar’s opponent at SummerSlam will be none other than Randy Orton. It will be the first encounter between the two legends in nearly 14 years.

Orton has been out of action since undergoing shoulder surgery earlier this year. Having battled chronic neck and shoulder injuries in recent years, Orton will have his hands full when he squares off against The Conqueror. Lesnar of course must first go through UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt at Saturday night’s blockbuster UFC 200 pay-per-view.

WWE SummerSlam 2016 takes place on Sunday, August 21st at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Once again, SEScoops will be on site for SummerSlam and we’ll have exclusive coverage all weekend long.

Video: WWE Officially Begins Promoting Brock Lesnar’s Fight At UFC 200

Despite Stephanie McMahon publicly claiming WWE does not support Brock Lesnar’s return to the octagon, the official WWE YouTube channel has begun promoting Lesnar’s fight at UFC 200.

WWE uploaded the above video on Thursday about Lesnar’s upcoming return to “combat sports” on Saturday. The video focuses on what lead to Lesnar linking back up with Dana White and making the fight happen. The video also features Lesnar’s opponent, Mark Hunt, including footage from his K1 kickboxing days. His bout against Hunt on Saturday will be Lesnar’s first MMA fight since his 2011 loss to Alistair Overeem.

UFC 200 takes place this weekend on July 9th at the T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, with live coverage all night on MMANews.com.

Brock Lesnar On Working With Vince McMahon, His UFC 200 Training Camp (Video)

UFC 200 main eventer Brock Lesnar spoke with Megan Olivi ahead of his big fight this weekend against Mark Hunt. One of the main topics of discussion was his relationship with Vince McMahon/WWE and how his UFC return came to be.

“The devil’s in the details in the language; it’s not complicated when you have the right people who understand your contracts and understand your life,” Lesnar explained. “That really boils down to it. Vince giving me the nod to be able to do this, I have great respect for the man and I think he has a greater respect for Brock Lesnar after I walked out in 2004 and went on to become UFC heavyweight champion.”

Lesnar also remarked how Vince knows that a happy Brock is easier to work with.

Regarding family life, Lesnar said his family is currently living in Canada. He wants to raise his kids how he was raised – learning the meaning of hard work and “country living.”

Brock also discusses Saturday’s fight, his training camp and more, noting that he’s not afraid of getting hit by the hard-hitting Hunt and believes he will win as he’s confident in his own abilities.

No Lesnar SummerSlam Announcement At SmackDown Tapings, Another Match For RAW

– WWE did not announce Brock Lesnar’s WWE SummerSlam opponent at tonight’s SmackDown tapings in Toledo. The announcement will be edited into Thursday’s broadcast. SmackDown airs on Wednesday nights in select markets across the world, so we’ll know who Lesnar’s SummerSlam opponent will be tomorrow.

– As noted, WWE US Champion Rusev will defend against Zack Ryder on Monday’s RAW from Detroit. Another match confirmed for Monday is Sasha Banks vs. Dana Brooke.

Speculation On Brock Lesnar’s WWE SummerSlam Opponent, Betting Odds

With WWE announcing Brock Lesnar’s WWE SummerSlam opponent on this week’s SmackDown, the speculation going around is that Lesnar will be facing Randy Orton at the show. Orton is scheduled to visit the WWE Performance Center next week to train as he anticipates being medically cleared to return to the ring. He’s been out since December 2015 with shoulder surgery.

Meanwhile, International sportsbooks are taking bets on who Lesnar’s SummerSlam opponent will be – and Orton is nowhere close to being the most favored pick. Courtesy of Wweleaks.org and betting site 32red.com, Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns are Lesnar’s most likely opponents. The next tier of possible opponents based on betting odds include Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose, and Randy Orton.

Lesnar returns to UFC this Saturday night at UFC 200 in a fight that could very well result in injuries that would prevent him from competing at SummerSlam. WWE is taking a major gamble by having Lesnar fight at UFC 200 and they’ve compounded the situation by announcing Lesnar’s SummerSlam match before that show. The upside is that UFC will likely hype Lesnar’s SummerSlam match at UFC 200, which could result in some UFC fans subscribing to the WWE Network.

J.R. Speaks On Lawler Being Reinstated, Lesnar Returning To UFC, Brand Split

Jim Ross is looking forward to seeing Jerry Lawler back on WWE television. In a new update on JRsBarBQ.com, the WWE Hall of Famer talks about his former broadcast partner being reinstated by WWE following his suspension for a domestic disturbance arrest.

“Happy that Jerry Lawler has been reinstated by WWE and I look forward to seeing Jerry back on WWE TV at some point in the future,” Ross wrote. “I knew all along in my heart that The King was not a domestic violence participant and that alcohol was the culprit in this unfortunate and embarrassing matter.”

Ross also talked about Brock Lesnar’s upcoming return to the octagon at UFC 200 against Mark Hunt. Ross says UFC 200 is the biggest event in company history, and he supports Brock in his efforts to have a successful return.

“I’m of the belief that Brock’s fight versus hard punching Mark Hunt won’t make it out of the first round as one of the two heavyweights likely won’t survive past the first five minutes,” Ross wrote. “Brock getting Hunt to the ground and demonstrating superior striking defense are two, major keys to this fight.”

J.R. also talked about the upcoming WWE brand split, and says he thinks we won’t get a true sense of the company’s new direction until WrestleMania 33. Ross says he thinks the brand split can be one of WWE’s more significant business maneuvers in years.

Kane On Whether He’s Considering Retirement At Age 49, Brock Lesnar Fighting At UFC 200

Kane, who will turn 50-years-old next spring, is not thinking about retiring at this point.

“Not really. It’s still fun,” he said when asked about the subject during an appearance on the Like Father, Like Son podcast.

“I have a lot of fun now with the younger guys and just being in the position that I’m in, as more of a mentor at times. I’ve also been very fortunate that I haven’t had many injuries, so my body still feels good. I can’t say it feels as good as it did when I was 25, but it still feels good and I can still do most of the things that I used to be able to do. And I still think that I perform at a high level, even when I’m in there literally against guys that are half my age sometimes. I think they still have to keep up with me.”

He also offered his thoughts on Brock Lesnar fighting at UFC 200.

“I think that’s good for both brands, frankly. Brock Lesnar is one of those guys, like The Rock has done in movies,” said Kane. “Brock has done the same thing in UFC and MMA. He has transcended WWE and that sport, and I think he helps bring UFC and MMA fans into WWE, and vice versa. So anytime someone has crossover appeal like that, I think it’s good for everybody.”

Other topics discussed include Shane McMahon’s return to WWE, Shaquille O’Neal wrestling in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, the upcoming brand extension, various characters he has portrayed (Christmas Creature, Isaac Yankem, DDS and Diesel), working with The Undertaker over the years, his various masks, and more. You can check out the interview here.

Brock Lesnar Doesn’t Care What Stephanie McMahon Says, Talks UFC Future & More

Source: MMAFighting.com

Brock Lesnar did a conference call with the MMA media earlier today to promote his UFC 200 fight against Mark Hunt. Below are some quotes from the call:

Stephanie McMahon saying WWE wasn’t “supporting the fight necessarily”:
“I don’t know, I don’t care what she says.”

If losing to Hunt might affect his drawing power in WWE:
“I really don’t give a shit.”

Possibly fighting after UFC 200:

“I don’t know, I feel really good. Training camp is going great. I’m happy. I’m happy with my life. I’m happy with everything. Since I left the Octagon after I got beat by Overeem and kind of forced out of the cage because of my illness it haunted me for a long time. Well what do you do? Well, here I am. And before it’s too late, I want to get back in the cage and have fun with it.”

Ken Shamrock Not Optimistic About Brock Lesnar’s Chances At UFC 200

MMA legend and former WWE Superstar Ken Shamrock recently appeared on The MMA Show with Marc Charles and spoke at length about Brock Lesnar returning to UFC next month. Shamrock feels that Brock Lesnar bouncing back and forth between WWE and UFC over the past decade is not going to do him any favors when he steps in the Octagon against Mark Hunt at UFC 200.

Shamrock isn’t alone in his uncertainty about Lesnar’s chances, since the former UFC Heavyweight Champion opened as a betting underdog against Hunt. Here are some highlights of what Shamrock said about:

Lesnar’s WWE run affecting his UFC return:

“When you’re a professional athlete, you have to do something for a period of time. So if he continues to keep going – oh he did wrestling first and then he did MMA and then he goes back to wrestling and now he’s back to MMA again – I don’t think he’s really stabilized himself or set an example for himself in MMA. I mean he was there a short time, then he was gone. I mean he’s really done more in pro wrestling than he has done in anything else.”

What Lesnar needs to work on:

“Well he should have put a little more work into his ground game with his submissions, defensive submissions, and definitely his striking. His striking is horrible. So I think he needed to pay a little bit more attention if he’s gonna come back. He needs to take some time and really focus on that and not just jump back into it because he’s a great wrestler because that’s just not going to get it for him in these days.”

Who will benefit:

“I think [the UFC and the WWE] are both gonna get something out of it, I’m just not sure it’s gonna be good for him. I hope it is. I really hope he wins because I’d hate to see him lose, even though I like Mark Hunt, but I’d hate to see him lose after having to come back and it doesn’t work out for him. I think it’s gonna hurt him more than it would Mark.”

Jim Ross Blogs About Lesnar Being An Underdog At UFC 200, Ronda Rousey-WrestleMania

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross has posted a new blog update, which you can read in its entirety over at JRsBarBQ.com. Topics discussed include Wednesday night’s NXT Takeover: The End live event, Brock Lesnar returning to UFC next month and the possibility of Ronda Rousey working for WWE. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Brock Lesnar A Betting Underdog Against Mark Hunt:

“Great deal of talk in Vegas that Mark Hunt will KO Brock Lesnar early in their fight at the much anticipated UFC 200 in July. This is arguably one of the most challenging bookings that Brock could have gotten for his return to the Octagon for what is expected to be a one off for Lesnar in the UFC.

“Brock us the betting underdog at all the Vegas sports books that I’ve seen. I’m thinking a couple of dollars on Brock to win might be in my future. I’m certainly pulling on one of the greatest athletes that we signed while I was EVP of Talent in WWE.”

WWE & UFC Working Together, Rumors Of Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania:

“It’s no secret that WWE & many of their fans would be highly interested in securing the services of @RondaRousey for WM33. Ronda’s MMA future in UFC isn’t set in stone, or so it seems at the moment, as she has no future fight on the schedule even though she would be a huge addition to UFC’s first NYC event in perhaps a rematch vs Holly Holm. This matter regarding Rousey to WM33 will produce ample speculation as time marches on.

“Many feel that Vince McMahon and Dana White created a win-win deal when WWE cleared the way for Lesnar to fight at UFC 200. The potential inclusion of Rousey at WM33 would certainly be a prime win-win for both companies “

Video: Lesnar On His Past Addictions, Airplane Fight With Curt Hennig

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzeXuS2ET7M

WWE Superstar Brock Lesnar appeared on Highly Questionable on Thursday to talk about his upcoming MMA return at UFC 200. Brock shared some stories about real-life fights he had been in, including one where someone in a bar smashed a drink over his head, and things ended “very quickly” for his attacker after that.

Lesnar was asked about his battles with addiction, having admitted in the past to drinking a bottle of vodka a day with Vicodin. He puts some blame for those problems on injuries from pro wrestling even though it’s “fake,” in addition to him being “young and naive” at the time. Lesnar says life on the road as a wrestler is not as glamorous as some people think, and he’s thankful that he’s now able to work part-time for WWE instead of full-time.

The former UFC Heavyweight Champion was also asked about his 2002 scuffle with the late Curt Hennig. Lesnar says he was on booze and Vicodin, and after being stuck on an airplane for 7 hours, him and Hennig got into trouble. Lesnar calls what him and Hennig did “whiskey wrestling,” and he barely remembers the incident aside from being reprimanded by management after the fact.

Brock Lesnar Opens As An Underdog Against Mark Hunt In UFC 200 Betting

Following the announcement that Brock Lesnar vs. Mark Hunt is now official for UFC 200 next month, MMA odds makers are starting to release betting odds for the big fight. Online betting website Bookmaker.eu has released an opening line on the fight, with Lesnar opening up as an underdog and Hunt opening as a betting favorite.

The early odds released by the website have Hunt as a -195 favorite and Lesnar as a +166 underdog. This means it would take a $195 bet on Hunt for a Hunt victory to pay out $100 profit. If you want to bet on Lesnar, a $100 bet will net you $166 profit if Lesnar pulls off the upset.

Brock Lesnar vs. Mark Hunt takes place at UFC 200, which goes down live from the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, July 9, 2016.
