Dark Side of the Ring Season 5 Plans

VICE TV’s Dark Side of the Ring has become a must-watch for wrestling fans, as they dive into sometimes controversial topics from pro wrestling’s past. With its past four seasons generating significant discussion in recent memory, season five has a lot to live up to.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that the upcoming fifth season of Dark Side of the Ring is in the works, and a list of episodes has been revealed.

Season five is set to cover “Black Saturday,” the 1984 moment when Vince McMahon orchestrated a takeover of Georgia Championship Wrestling’s lucrative TBS cable TV timeslot. Additionally, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle and ECW legend The Sandman will each have episodes dedicated to their life stories.

Other people slated for featured episodes in season five reportedly include Brutus Beefcake, Buff Bagwell, and Harley Race, who passed away in 2019 due to lung cancer.

Chris Adams, who is credited for training Stone Cold Steve Austin and popularizing the superkick, will also get a focus for an episode on season five.

For the new season of Dark Side of the Ring, we know of these episodes: Brutus Beefcake, Harley Race, Buff Bagwell, Kurt Angle, Chris Adams, Sandman and Black Saturday (when Vince McMahon purchased Georgia Championship Wrestling to get access to the TBS time slot in 1984. Glenn “Kane” Jacobs was campaigning for Donald Trump in Iowa.

Dark Side of the Ring Season 5 Air Date

As of right now, there is no information on the air date for season five on VICE TV, as filming is scheduled for later this year. We will keep you updated when an actual date comes out.

The show is unafraid to tackle wrestling’s darker moments, such as The Plane Ride from Hell, the Benoit family tragedy, and Owen Hart’s tragic death. The success of the show also led VICE TV to produce several spinoffs, including Dark Side of the ’90s, Dark Side of Comedy, and Dark Side of Football in recent years.

Missy Beefcake Releases Homophobic Video Of Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine

Greg “The Hammer” Valentine’s name trended today on X, but not in a way he would ever want it to. A video was released of him using some harsh homosexual language, and it is quite shocking.

Greg Valentine’s Homophobic Video

Missy Beefcake, wife of WWE Hall of Famer Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake, recently shared video clips on her X account featuring Greg “The Hammer” Valentine. It was not stated where this video was shot, but Valentine was using derogatory language targeted at the LGBTQ+ community.

In one clip, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine is heard saying, “You f*cking f*ggot. I can whip you with one arm tied behind my f*cking back!” Another clip captured Valentine mentioning, “The f*ggot on CNN besides Don Lemon.” He was talking about Anderson Cooper in that second clip.

Missy Beefcake dropped those two clips, along with a short caption to sum up her thoughts on the content.

“Greg Valentine making homophobic remarks! He’s disgusting!!!!”

Public Reaction to Greg Valentine’s Comments

While such language might have been more tolerable in the territorial days of pro wrestling, where Greg “The Hammer” Valentine gained fame, it is receiving significant backlash in the present day.

Greg “The Hammer” Valentine is now facing criticism for his remarks, with some calling for consequences and expressing their disapproval of his actions. Fans are weighing in about what Valentine said, and there will likely be a lot more discussion and memes to follow.

Video Is Possible Revenge

It should be noted that Greg “The Hammer” Valentine laid quite a hammer down on Missy Beefcake in a recent interview. He was asked who he loved beating up the most in the ring, to which The Hammer replied Brutus Beefcake, because of “that f*cking c*nt that he married.” He also said that they didn’t have to cut that part out, which they didn’t.

Missy Beefcake’s response to that shot very well could have been in the form of this latest homophobic video drop. There are definitely shots being fired between those two pro wrestling personalities, and things got ugly in a hurry.

WWE Hall Of Famer Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake Dealing With Health Issues

WWE Hall Of Famer Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake is dealing with some health issues and his wife is asking for fans to pray for the wrestling veteran.

The wife of the former WWE star Missy Leslie recently noted on Facebook that the 64-year-old has a blood pressure reading of 170/110. He is also feeling shortness of breath and a headache.

Brutus Beefcake was taken to see a doctor on Wednesday morning but there is no further update available on the former WCW star’s health as of this writing.

The former wrestler started his career in the industry in 1977 and wrestled regularly until 2000. He continued making sporadic wrestling appearances even after this until 2015.

Beefcake is best known for his run with the World Wrestling Federation from 1984 to 1993. His original gimmick in the company was of a male stripper. He started teaming with Greg “The Hammer” Valentine in 1985 and the duo became known as The Dream Team.

After the end of his tenure with WWF, the wrestling legend also had a couple of stints with WCW from 1994 to 1996 and 1998 to 1999. He was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame by Hulk Hogan in 2019.

Brutus Beefcake On How Wrestling Has Changed Since His Time

Wrestling is an evolving business and it has seen many major changes in the past few decades. The average size of a wrestler has decreased and the sport has become more of a high flying affair than it ever was.

During a recent interview with WrestlingInc, WWE Hall Of Famer Brutus Beefcake talked about a number of things and he also discussed these changes in the wrestling business.

The WWE Hall Of Famer started his career in 1977 and after wrestling for more than 2 decades, he took semi-retirement from the sport around 1999.

Comparing the current style of wrestling to the one he is familiar with, Beefcake said that wrestlers are closer to being gymnasts than they ever were. However he then claimed that they worked more than the current wrestlers do:

“It’s a whole different type of wrestling now. They are closer to being gymnasts than we ever were; we did less high-risk moves although we worked way more than they ever have.

We worked seven days a week, sometimes twice on the weekends doing TV tapings. I checked my books when being interviewed by CBS Sports and had basically 500 matches in 1985-87. That’s another feat in itself.'”

Brutus Beefcake went on to explain that they worked all the time and barely had any time off. So they worked a style which allowed them to still show up and perform every night.

Apart from this Brutus, who had a couple of runs with WCW in the 90s also discussed Eric Bischoff’s appointment as the Executive Director of SmackDown Live.

He said that he wishes Bischoff best of luck because it’s going to be a tough position with all the people coming and going. You can check out his full interview at this link.

Brutus Beefcake On Bret Hart Hall Of Fame Incident

WWE Hall Of Famer Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake recently had an interview with WrestlingInc where he talked about a number of things, including his run with the tag team championship and more.

Beefcake was inducted into the Hall Of Fame as part of the 2019 class earlier this year. Other legends who were inducted in the same class include the likes of DX and The Hart Foundation.

While the ceremony went as planned for the most part, there was one unplanned incident when Bret Hart got jumped by a fan. Though the attacker was quickly tackled by the wrestlers and security staff.

Discussing the incident, Brutus recalled how he was standing in the Gorilla position when it happened and he thought that it was a publicity stunt:

“I was standing in Gorilla position and when I saw it happened, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I thought it was a publicity stunt and maybe one of the young Harts that I didn’t know about it. They’re gonna do a rumble or something and then pop up and be like, ‘Here I am! I’m the new Hart!’

The WWE Hall of Famer went on to explain that everybody was surprised when it didn’t turn out to be a work and while they have seen a lot of things happening over the years, nothing has been quite like that.

Apart from this, Brutus Beefcake also discussed his run as a heel, the crowd response during their run as the tag team champions and more. You can check out his full interview at this link.

Hulk Hogan To Induct Brutus Beefcake Into The WWE Hall Of Fame

WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan is set to induct former WWE star and good friend Brutus Beefcake into this year’s class of the Hall of Fame.

WWE made the news public on Thursday in a statement posted on their official website. This news also ended the speculation on inductors being done away with this year.

WWE touted in the announce that “Hogan and Beefcake first joined forces in 1989, headlining that year’s SummerSlam against “Macho King” Randy Savage and the monstrous Zeus and later stepping into a Steel Cage to battle the ruthless duo. When Beefcake returned to the ring after a parasailing accident that nearly ended his life, Hogan was literally in “The Barber’s” corner, joining forces with him to form The Mega Maniacs, a duo that battled then-World Tag Team Champions Money Inc. at WrestleMania IX.”

WWE holds their 2019 Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The ceremony will air on WWE’s streaming service, WWE Network at 7 PM EST with a one hour WWE Hall of Fame Red Carpet special airing the hour before. DX will headline the class. Here is the list of inductees:

D-Generation X (X-Pac, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg, and Chyna)

Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart)

WWE To Induct Brutus Beefcake Into Hall Of Fame

WWE has officially announced that Brutus “the Barber” Beefcake will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. Beefcake performed for WWE from 1984 to 1994 and with WCW from 94 to 1999.

“This is the culmination of a lifetime’s worth of work,” said Beefcake to SI.com. “I’m grateful to the WWE, and I cannot wait for the tremendous honor.”

Beefcake is a former WWE tag team champion along with partner Greg “the Hammer” Valentine. The pair were known as the Dream Team.

“I never went to a wrestling school,” Beefcake continued. “So I learned the basics from the veterans, and that is how I learned my craft. It’s a tough way to learn, but there were people like Ivan Koloff and Mr. Wrestling who took a real interest in trying to help me.”

Brutus Beefcake – WWE Hall of Fame

When Beefcake and Valentine split up at WrestleMania III, he adopted “the Barber” gimmick. He would often cut, style, or just shave an opponent’s hair after matches. As Brutus “the Barber” Beefcake, he became one of the most popular babyfaces in the company for a time.

Beefcake would follow his longtime friend Hulk Hogan to WCW in 1994. They also got their start in the wrestling business together.

“Terry and I were just a couple kids from Tampa living our dream,” said Beefcake. “We had sat on the beach for endless days talking about wrestling, and then there we were, living it, working territories in Florida and Alabama with guys like Ox Baker, Bob Armstrong, and Professor Toru Tanaka. They took us under their wing and helped make us into what we became.”

Hogan and Beefcake had a following out a few years back but were able to patch things up recently.

Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake Reunited, Beef Squashed Between Mega-Maniacs

After going through a particularly rough patch last fall, it appears Hulk Hogan and longtime ally, Brutus Beefcake, have patched things up.

The Hulkster posted a photo of the two former Mega-Maniac partners hanging out last night:

Kevin Nash also commented on the photo:

Mega Maniacs Fallout – Fall of 2017

Last fall, Hogan, and Beefcake were involved in a public spat. Beefcake mentioned he was writing a book and that it would be a “Tell All”. This message seemed to be directed at the Hulkster, or at least Hogan replied as if it was.

“Working on my book which is fastly becoming a tell all!” Beefcake Tweeted. “Hold onto your bandana brother it’s about to get real!”

To which Hogan responded:

“Got the bandanna glued on tight, get a good lawyer, brother..HH”

The two continued back and forth on Twitter for some time like this. It now appears, however, that the two have patched things back up again.

Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake – The Mega Maniacs

Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake formerly comprised the tag-team “the Mega-Maniacs”. They first teamed together at SummerSlam 1989 when they defeated the team of Randy Savage and Zeus.

Hogan and Beefcake would team up again 4 years later at WrestleMania IX. Later that night, Hogan would defeat Yokozuna for the WWF Championship in an impromptu match. They would align again in WCW and again in 1998 while both were members of nWo Hollywood.

Hulk Hogan & Brutus Beefcake Feuding On Twitter

WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan and longtime friend Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake have been going at it on Twitter this weekend. It began on Thursday, with Beefcake announcing on Twitter that he’s writing a book and implied that he’ll be airing out dirt on Hogan.

Beefcake alleges that Hogan stabbed him in the back and accusing Hogan of hanging out with his ex-wife in an attempt to get under his skin. Hogan says Beefcake is a ‘poisonous snake’ who has always been a follower and has no idea ‘how deep the water is.’

You can check out the full exchange below, including a statement from Beefcake’s ex-wife Barbara.

Reason For WWE Network’s Lack Of Classic Footage, Virgil A WWE Legend, Brutus Beefcake

– One notable complaint from WWE Network subscribers is the lack of old footage being rolled out. According to F4WOnline.com, one major reason that WWE doesn’t add a ton of classic footage on a regular basis is because “almost nobody watches it.”

The most popular programs on the WWE Network are the specials and NXT. The most watched shows this past week were the WWE 24 episode on Roman Reigns and Chris Jericho’s chat with Stephanie McMahon. Jerry Springer Too Hot For TV and Tough Enough episodes from 2011 have also drawn strong viewer interest.

– While most wrestling fans would not consider Virgil a legend, according to WWE, he is.

Topps’ WWE 2015 trading card set features a legends category and Virgil is among those featured. Also included in the set are Bret Hart, Jimmy Hart, Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Sting, Pat Patterson, Ric Flair, Bruno Sammartino, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Gerald Brisco.

– SportsOttawa.com has a story on former WWE Superstar Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake, who is advertised to wrestle for Great North Wrestling Event on Saturday, May 30 at the Earl Armstrong Arena in Ottawa, Ontario.

Hulk Hogan Calls Out Brutus Beefcake For Selling Unauthorized ‘Signed’ Photos Of Him

It looks like Hulk Hogan’s longtime friend Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake (Ed Leslie) has been selling unauthorized signed photos of The Hulkster.

Hogan posted a photo of the two on Twitter this weekend with the caption, “Back in the day when it was straight up brother.”

A fan replied, saying he met Leslie back in March at a signing and Leslie was selling 8×10 photos of Hogan. Hogan told the fan he never signed any 8×10 photos or gave them to Leslie to sell.

Hogan told another Twitter user that this was a “shoot” and he was not working the fans.

– A video surfaced Thursday showing Toronto Mayor Rob Ford in a rambling rage, using threatening words such as “kill” and “murder.” Former WWE Superstar Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake attempted to speak with Ford at Toronto City Hall, but was escorted out by security after cutting a promo on the embattled mayor while advertising a submarine sandwich.

Footage from the incident can be seen here.

– Savio Vega is the latest addition to the Alumni section on WWE.com. The website is branding him as one of the unexpected heroes of WWE’s “New Generation,” and acknowledges his path to the organization through Puerto Rican professional wrestling.

– AVClub.com has published an article naming the nineteen least essential entertainments from 1993 and Mr. Nanny starring Hulk Hogan heads the dubious list—the movie was shot during Hogan’s hiatus from WWE following WrestleMania VIII.

The website labels Hogan’s early 1990s outside-the-ring ventures with the following: “Tuba-voiced pro wrestler Hulk Hogan was a ubiquitous media presence throughout the ’90s, trying his hand at everything from music (1995’s Hulk Rules) to restaurants (the terrifyingly punctuated Hulk Hogan’s Pastamania!) despite showing very little talent for anything that didn’t involve leg drops.”

-The following is another excerpt from the recent John Cena interview with the New Orleans Times-Picayune. This time, Cena discusses his recent matches with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at WrestleMania:

“I really got to live a dream the past few years having some big marquee matchups with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. And when you rub elbows with a guy like The Rock, you truly are in the company of the greatest of all-time. It was like watching a prize fight where everyone is just throwing haymakers. For us to be interactive over a 2 1/2 year span, it was pretty impressive, especially in this day and age. It was a dream scenario for me.”

Watching Hulk Hogan play baseball as a kid and who decided to try wrestling first.

Memories of the “Barber Shop”:

“The one I did with Andre The Giant is probably my favorite because I watched him my whole life. It was the best interview segment that I ever saw him do. It makes me proud knowing that he was excited for it. He didn’t like doing interviews. For him to step up the way he did was an honor to me. That’s a show of respect in our business. That huge man stepped up and wanted to do a good job for me.”

What gave him the will to live after enduring a near fatal para-sailing accident, both his parents dying and a divorce in the early 90s.

Beefcake Says “TNA Doesn’t Want To Win”, Linda’s Allegations

Former WWE & WCW wrestler Brutus Beefcake was interviewed by Daniel Donnelly of Imetawrestler.com this week and had some very interesting comments to say about Hulk Hogan’s feelings about TNA (and TNA “not wanting to win”), Linda Hogan’s allegations that he and Hulk had a homosexual relationship, whether he expects to get inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and more. Here are some highlights of what Beefcake said about:

Hulk’s feelings about TNA: “He was trying to help them. In my opinion, they seemed to want to make a difference at first, but then it seemed like they just didn’t want to win. Hulk’s a guy who wants to make a difference and wants to win, you know? And once he realized that they didn’t want to win, and all they want to do is make an event and have a little piece of the little corner of the market and be satisfied with that, he’s just had to say, ‘Okay, if that’s what you want then that’s what you’re gonna get.’ It doesn’t look good, but I wish him the best.”

Differences between today’s wrestlers and his generation: “It’s more like an assembly line, they’re turning out wrestlers like rubber stamps out of a mold, and that’s not how we were all made. It just made that difference. People had their own personalities, guys were able to differentiate, and everybody was their own person. Scripts weren’t handed out before the shows, people weren’t told what to say, told what to do, told how to wrestle, told how to talk, told how to walk, told what they were supposed to look like and how to comb their hair. There was none of that. Everyone was an individual, everyone was drawing on their own personal skills and knowledge, and everything was genuine.”

Linda’s allegations: “It’s really sad. I’ve known Linda a long time and it’s really sad. You know, I’m not a hater, Hulk’s not a hater, he doesn’t hate his ex-wife. He wants to move on with his life, and for her to come forward with these ridiculous allegations that he had beat her up and things like that, you know, after several years of the divorce and all the trials and the transcripts, there’s never been a mention of anything. There’s never been a phone call to the police, never been a report of a bruise or anything, and for her to come forward now and say that he abused her, and then to come forward and say that he was a homo with his best friend Brutus who he grew up with, is so ridiculous. Anyone who knows us, knows that it’s so ridiculous that it’s not even remotely believable. It’s such a shame that she had to stoop, she got money and she should just go away.”

Could Brutus be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year? “I hope so. I’m not really sure why Vince hasn’t done it. They’ve called me for different things beyond the internet, for their Wrestlemania, they’ve put me in their magazines, so I’m not really sure what problems may be between us. But you know, he’s always taken back everybody else whose really done some dastardly things to him, and I can’t understand for the life of me why he wouldn’t wanna put me in the Hall of Fame.”

Working out over the years: “I started working out nearly forty years ago with The Hulkster down in Florida, back when I was a teenager. Hulk and I have been training together throughout all these years… and that discipline of steel, you might call it, meant we always made it to the gym. We put the gym first, before going to the bar, before going out, chasing girls or any of that stuff. We always put that time in the gym first.”
