Hulk Hogan’s Contract Demand for Wrestle Kingdom Revealed

Last month, it was reported that Hulk Hogan had been in negotiations with New Japan Pro Wrestling in regards to appearing at Wrestle Kingdom.

According to a recent report from Sports Illustrated, NJPW approached Hogan but a deal couldn’t be reached. Hogan was reportedly asking for $750,000 for the appearance, which was more than NJPW was willing to pay.

Hulk Hogan and New Japan Pro Wrestling

Hogan’s relationship with NJPW goes back to the early 1980s before Hulkamania boomed in North America. He would even participate in the precursor to the modern day G1 tournament. In the 1983 IWGP League, Hogan defeated Antonio Inoki in the final.

The Young Bucks have been vocal supporters of bringing Hogan into NJPW.

The Bucks had the following to say in regards to the Hulkster in NJPW:

“I’d love to welcome Hulk in. He’s honestly my favourite wrestler of all time, so working with him in any capacity would be fun,” stated Matt Jackson.

“I’d love to have him walk us down the aisle, while three of us play the air guitar. That’d be a dream come true.” added Nick Jackson.

Cody & Young Bucks Planning Show At 10,000 Seat Arena

Bullet Club members Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks are looking to self-finance a show to take place in a 10,000 seat arena. Cody has mentioned headlining a show with 10,000 people as a personal goal of his since leaving WWE.

Cody had hinted last week that “the Elite” were scouting possible locations:

Typical Attendance Figures in the United States

While independent wrestling is as hot as its ever been, they will have their work cut out for them to fill a 10,000 seat arena. Ring of Honor shows typically draw a few thousand fans depending on the building.

NJPW’s G1 special in the United States drew 2,300 fans, though some complained they should have run a larger building.

For Cody and the Young Bucks to be successful, they will have to eclipse recent independent wrestling attendance figures. If their show is built-up as a can’t miss spectacle that fans will travel to see, however, they might do exactly that.

Major TV Actor Becomes The Newest Member of Bullet Club?

The Bullet Club appears to be adding to their ranks once again…

Stephen Amell, best known for his role in popular television superhero ‘Arrow’ has been unveiled as the newest member of Bullet Club. Amell was signed to host last night’s Ring of Honor ‘Survival of The Fittest’ event and he got involved during the main event, joining the Young Bucks in hitting a top rope IndyTaker (check out the video below).

https://twitter.com/blowcastle/status/931772731175178240?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wrestlinginc.com%2Fwi%2Fnews%2F2017%2F1118%2F634222%2Froh-survival-of-the-fittest-night-one-results%2F

Amell has gone on record regarding his love for the wrestling industry and you may remember his involvement in WWE alongside ROH Champion Cody Rhodes. NJPW Release Finn Balor vs Kazuchika Okada For Free on YouTube (Video)

New Japan Pro Wrestling have been releasing a number of high profile bouts from their back catalogue for free on YouTube over the past couple of months. The company’s latest free to view contest is the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match between Kazuchika Okada and Finn Balor (then Prince Devitt) from 2013.

The match is essential viewing for any WWE fan that has never seen Balor outside of his NXT/WWE run. As the first leader of the now world wide phenomenon that is the Bullet Club Balor would work as a vicious heel character, he would dissect his opponents and cheat using his stablemates in Gallows, Anderson and Bad Luck Fale to draw the ire of the traditional Japanese fans.

Bullet Club Invites McMahon Family To Upcoming ROH Show (Video)

The Bullet Club has extended a formal invitation to the McMahon family to attend Ring of Honor’s upcoming live event from San Antonio, Texas on Friday, November 17th.

Cody Rhodes, Marty Scurll and The Young Bucks mocked WWE for booking a show in the same city as their ‘Survival of the Fittest’ San Antonio event, accusing them of piggybacking off the success of the Bullet Club.

WWE announced last week that the San Antonio show will feature NXT Champion Drew McIntyre defending against Adam Cole in the main event, with Shawn Michaels serving as special guest referee.

They noted that WWE rarely acknowledges other companies, but ROH appears to have caught their attention. Cody says WWE has stolen his father’s ideas, with Scurll noting that they even ripped off his signature umbrella (for 205 Live star Jack Gallagher).

After first proposing that the McMahons could get free tickets, the rescinded that offer and said any McMahon family member is welcome to a 10% discount off an ROH ticket that night – upon showing photo ID.

Tickets are now available for ROH’s Survival of the Fittest event from San Antonio at ROHWrestling.com.

Bullet Club Member Says He’ll Never Watch WWE Again

Bullet Club member Adam Page recently did an interview with The Roman Show to talk about several professional wrestling topics. Page discussed former Bullet Club member’s treatment in WWE today, WWE releasing Jimmy Jacobs, and when he started training to be a professional wrestler. You can check out the highlights here below:

His thoughts on the treatment of former Bullet Club members such as Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, and Finn Balor in WWE:

WWE releasing Jimmy Jacobs after taking a picture with The Bullet Club:

When he started training to be a professional wrestler:

“I started training when I was 15 with a couple of guys. I wrestled at 16 and about 18 I went to jimmy Valiant’s camp in Virginia that’s been my full education, but all these years of wrestling has been the education.”

ROH tag team champions The Young Bucks and fellow Bullet Club member “Hangman” Adam Page defeated Dalton Castle & The Boys to capture the ROH Six Man Tag Team Championships.

Bullet Club leader Cody is the reigning ROH World Champion, so the Club possesses every championship in the company aside from the World Television Championship, which NJPW star Kushida won from BC member Marty Scurll back at War of the Worlds on 5/14.

What’s Upcoming for the Young Bucks?

Currently the Young Bucks aren’t taking many independent dates. Their schedule consists entirely of ROH, NJPW, and monthly PWG shows at the moment.

They will probably be away from Japan for most of the summer now, as the company focusses on their heavyweight G1 tournament.

Look for the Bucks to play a key role in ROH for the remainder of the summer.

Cody Gets Good News After MRI

On Friday night in Los Angeles, Cody wrestled arguably the most impactful match of his career. He challenged IWGP heavyweight Kazuchika Okada, in the main event of an important card for the promotion.

Many are calling his match with Okada “better than expected”. The results of a recent MRI also provided Cody with some good news.

Potential Cody vs. Kenny Omega Feud, Shows Over WM Weekend

Both nights of the NJPW Los Angeles shows featured teased dissension between Cody and Kenny Omega. The two members of Bullet Club each hold distinguished singles championships. Cody is the new ROH champion, and Omega won the inaugural IWGP US championship on Saturday. With news that Omega’s championship will be defended on ROH shows, one has to wonder if a power struggle is brewing between the two stars.

The shows this weekend were considered a huge success for NJPW. Recent rumours suggest the company is considering holding evens in New Orleans over WM33 weekend. Plans to open a Los Angeles office and dojo are also being considered.

Kenny Omega Mocks Seth Rollins’ Leaked Photo Incident

Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks have satirized Seth Rollins’ leaked photo incident from 2015. For those who don’t remember, Seth’s ex-fiancee admitted to posting nude photos of Seth, along with former WWE developmental prospect, Zahra Schreiber on Seth’s social media accounts.

The latest episode of Omega and the Young Bucks’ “Being the Elite” YouTube show, pokes fun at the incident.

Being the Elite Highlights

  • Segments for this week’s episode were filmed while the trio were at the Long Beach Convention Centre for the 2 NJPW G1 Special shows.
  • The episode focussed on a mysterious “DM”. The Bucks want to release the “DM” but the rest of Bullet Club is unsure.
  • The Bucks ask Cody about the DM shortly after his loss to Kazuchika Okada, and get a rather cold response in return. This could be more teasing of dissension amongst Cody and the rest of BC.
  • After Omega won the US title the Bucks informed Omega they had enough votes from BC to release Omega’s DM. Omega then blames Cody for this, which leads to a group argument amongst Bullet Club. Many of them still upset they murdered Adam Cole in a previous episode.
  • Matt required Cody and Omega to hug it out and said he’d delete the controversial DM.
  • Unfortunately NJPW referee Red Shoes found the photo and shared the DM.
  • The fake DM’s are at the end of the episode.

the Tweet looks very similar to Rollins’ from 2 years earlier:

    • Lethal worked his leg with kicks and a couple of kneebreakers.
    • Lethal went for his second Lethal Injection but Omega countered it into a backstabber, which hurt his leg some more.
    • After that, Omega began to work Lethal’s back and ribs.
    • Lethal landed a blue-thunder power-bomb but wasn’t really able to capitalize.
    • Omega brought out the V-Trigger knees and took control afterwards. He hit a cross-legged neckbreaker, dragon suplex, doctor-bomb, and several more knees.
    • Omega went for the 1-winged angel but Lethal attempted to counter it into a hurricanrana. Omega countered Lethal’s counter however and hoisted him back up on his shoulders, re-positioned him on his shoulders and finally hit the 1-Winged Angel to get the pin.

Winner: Kenny Omega

IWGP US Championship Tournament (Semi-Final)
Tomohiro Ishii (CHAOS) vs. Zack Sabre Jr. (Suzuki-Gun)

    • Zabre Jr hit a pele kick on Ishii’s arm early and then proceeded to work the limb the rest of the match.
    • ZSJ would lock in a submission on Ishii, and Ishii would counter with headbutts, chops, a superplex and various other power moves, but ZSJ would eventually get back on offence and lock in a submission. Ishii probably never got more than 1 move in a row.
    • Ishii went for a lariat but ZSJ grabbed his arm and locked in an armbar with a head scissors. Ishii made several attempts to get the ropes but was thwarted several times, as Zack pinned back his various limbs. Eventually Ishii just rolled his entire body into the ropes and got the break.
    • ZSJ went for a guillotine but was countered, Ishii hit a brainbuster and got the pin.

    • Haku came out with GoD!! He’s the father of both Tama Tonga and Tanga Roa.
    • Bit of a surprise in the end of this match, as Hangman Page hit his reverse piledriver finish on Ray Rowe and got the pin.
    • Page lost to an injured Jay Lethal yesterday, so needed a good result here and he got it.
    • Page then said into the camera that War Machine’s tag titles are his, though he neglected to mention who his partner is.

Winners: Hangman Page, Tama Tonga, and Tanga Roa (Page pinned Rowe)

  • Naoki Sugabayashi, through an interpreter, announced that NJPW would return to the United States in 2018.

IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships
The Young Bucks © (Bullet Club) vs. Roppongi Vice (CHAOS)

  • Young Bucks have really been incorporating more sharpshooters into their offence lately.
  • They worked on Beretta’s back a good portion of the match, which would play into the finish.
  • They started the match by countering all of each other’s moves, and Josh and Ross played up how well the two teams know each other.
  • Later in the match Young Bucks hit More Bang For Your Buck for a nearfall.
  • Roppongi Vice got in quite a bit of offence as well. Beretta gave Nick Jackson a piledriver on the apron and then a running knee.
  • Roppongi Vice also countered two Meltzer Driver attempts by the Bucks.
  • Vice managed to hit Strong Zero, but Matt Jackson kicked out. Can’t say I’ve ever seen anyone kick out of that move before.
  • The Bucks would later give Rocky Romero a Meltzer Driver on the floor. Nick springboarded off the top rope into a corkscrew and got one hand on Romero as Matt brought him down with the tombstone piledriver.
  • This left Beretta all on his own, and he played the valiant wrestler trying to battle back against the odds. They super-kicked him once in the face, and then another to his injured back.
  • They then gave another Meltzer Driver to Romero, and wrapped both guys in sharpshooters. Romero tapped, giving the Bucks the win.

Winners: the Young Bucks

  • Ricochet also said he wanted to be at the show yesterday but “A certain underground fighting company are being pricks right now”
  • Roppongi Vice then broke up! Romero cut a promo, saying the team had achieved all they had set out for, and that it was time for Beretta to go up to the heavyweight division.
  • They hugged and the crowd chanted for them. Romero never said he was retiring, but said “he was done with it”, so his future is left a little vague.
  • They’d been together 3 years, won the jr tag titles on 4 occasions and won the super junior tag tournament.

Marty Scurll, Bad Luck Fale, Yujiro Takahashi and Cody (Bullet Club) vs. Will Ospreay, the Briscoes and Kazuchika Okada (CHAOS)

    • Cody had a separate entrance from the rest of the Bullet Club.
    • The story of this match was really how much the live crowd did not like Cody.
    • In the opening moments of the match, the fans chanted for Cody to tag out to any member of the Bullet Club.

    • Ishii rolled to the outside and Omega hit him with a diving senton plancha on the outside, but he started holding his knee afterwards.
    • As the ref (Red Shoes) was tending to Omega, the Young Bucks set up their own “gimmick table”.
    • Omega bounced up to show his knee was fine, then hit his opponent with a flying dropkick to the back of the head. Then he hit him with a back elbow in the corner.
    • Omega landed strikes in the corner for a period, but this seemed to only make Ishii grow stronger.
    • Ishii fought back but came off the ropes right into a hurricanrana by Omega.
    • Omega then tried to put Ishii through the table. As he was trying to give him a dragon suplex through the table, Ishii held on by biting the top rope. Omega eventually gave him the move through the table and onto the floor however.
    • Once back in the ring, Omega went to give him a 1-Winged Angel, but Ishii countered into a DDT.
    • Ishii then hit a superplex from the top rope for a nearfall.
    • Omega started to battle back with V-Trigger knees and got a nearfall.
    • Omega then hit his own brainbuster onto Ishii for a near fall.
    • A few spots later, Ishii actually hit a 1-Winged Angel onto Omega for a nearfall.
    • After that Omega took control with V-Trigger knees, hit a cross-legged neckbreaker, a reverse hurricanrana and several more V-Triggers.
    • Omega finally hit the 1-Winged Angel and got the pin to become the inaugural IWGP US Champion.

Winner: Kenny Omega (inaugural IWGP US Champion)

  • After the match Omega was presented with the belt.
  • Cody entered the ring and ripped the belt away from him, but then gave it back and hugged him.
  • The rest of the Bullet Club also came out and they carried Omega on their shoulders in the ring .
  • Omega got on the mic and cut a promo thanking the fans. He said nobody in Japan believed this could be a success, and he said we’d sell out a bigger arena. Said they are coming back bigger and better next year.

Cody and Frankie Kazarian also appear on this episode:

Being the Elite

The Bucks and Omega have now posted 57 episodes of the show, which often includes other members of Bullet Club.

Flip Gordon, who took part in Ring of Honor tapings back in June, only started his career back in 2015.

The Young Bucks recently won the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championships at Dominion, and are scheduled to defend those titles against former champions, Roppongi Vice, at the NJPW Los Angeles show on July 1st. The Bucks are also ROH tag team champions, and will most likely face War Machine soon.

Kenny Omega most recently wrestled to a time limit draw with Okada at Dominion. He is scheduled to participate in the IWGP U.S Championship tournament on July 1st and 2nd.

Bullet Club Member Challenges CM Punk

‘The Villain’ Marty Scurll appeared on Sam Robert’s Wrestling Podcast and challenged former WWE Champion CM Punk. The newest member of the Bullet Club made the following comments during the show:

“CM Punk, I’d like to bring CM Punk out of retirement and wrestle him for sure. I don’t know if CM Punk listens to this show, but if he [does]…CM Punk, if you’re watching, come out of retirement. We can cause quite a bother of a wrestling match. What do you say? And that’d be fun, right? Yeah, that’s one for the headlines!”

Do you think that CM Punk will ever come out of retirement? If so who would you like to see him face and in which promotion? Let us know in the comments.

ROH Report: Cody vs. Frankie Kazarian

Ring of Honor this week was the first new episode since the “War of the Worlds” PPV. On that night, Kenny Omega fired Adam Cole from Bullet Club and announced their newest member, Marty Scurll.

Bullet Club Segment

The show opened up this week with Hangman Page and the Young Bucks introducing the newest member of Bullet Club, Marty Scurrl. Marty cut a promo saying he was going to throw a “tea party with Marty” but is interrupted by Adam Cole.

Cole said that Bullet Club firing him was the worst mistake they will ever make. Hangman Page then challenged Cole to a match, which is later made official for next week.

1. Josh Woods vs. David Starr

David Starr got a hometown reaction from the Philly crowd, but it didn’t help him any. This was Woods’ first match since winning the 2017 prospects tournament. He works an MMA gimmick and took most of the offence in this match.

Woods wins with a rolling knee-bar for a submission.

Winner: Josh Woods via submission

  • Adam Cole vs Hangman Page is made official as next week’s main event.
  • Before the 2nd match, Silas Young cut a promo on Jay Lethal. Silas doesn’t like it that Lethal gets all the commercials in ROH, and all the opportunities. He says he doesn’t get what is so great about Jay Lethal. Silas reminds everyone that he beat Jay Lethal in singles competition last time they met. Last week, Silas was shown jumping Lethal in the locker-room after learning he had been given another commercial.
  • This brings out Jay Lethal, who wants a match with him. Silas told Lethal he would face the Bruiser instead.

2. Jay Lethal vs. the Beer City Bruiser

The match started off as a brawl, as Silas joined the commentary team. Lethal gained the advantage on the outside as the show went to commercial. After the break, the match was back inside where Lethal once again got the advantage. He looked to go for his flying elbow, but Bruiser rolled out of the ring.

Lethal hit a flying cross body on Bruiser on the outside, then turned his sights to Silas, who was seated at the commentary table. Lethal started throwing punches at Silas and the match was called off.

Silas and Bruiser started to double-team Lethal, but Bobby Fish made the save. Fish and Silas have a long-standing rivalry., so that is probably setting up a tag-team match somewhere down the line.

Result: No Contest.

3. Cody (Bullet Club) vs. Frankie Kazarian

Before the match Cody cut a promo saying he should be ROH Champion. His reasoning is that in the main event at War of the Worlds, he had Lethal in a figure-four when Daniels pinned Lethal. Cody claims that since he had the figure-four on the pinned opponent that he should be the winner, not Daniels. So this could mean we get Cody vs Daniels for the title next.

The match was very even, with each guy hitting a few of their signature moves. Cody hit a disaster kick and an Alabama slam. Kazarian hit a spring-board cutter, and a flying moonsault to the outside in the opening moments of the match.

In the final moments, Kazarian countered the Cross Rhodes twice, but Cody’s third attempt was successful, scoring him the win.

Winner: Cody

Finn Balor vs. Karl Anderson Announced for RAW Tonight

2 of the original 4 members of Bullet Club will square off tonight when Finn Balor goes one-on-one with Karl Anderson. The match was announced by WWE less than an hour before the star of tonight’s Raw.

The Original Bullet Club

Anderson and Balor played a larger role in forming the Bullet Club than any other 2 superstars. The name, Bullet Club, comes from a combination of their nicknames at the time: Balor, as Prince Devitt, was “the Shooter”, and Anderson was “Machine Gun” Karl Anderson.

Prince Devitt grew frustrated when he was unable to defeat Hiroshi Tanahashi, as did Karl Anderson for the same reasons. The two “good guys” both turned heel and began bringing the tactics of the nWo into NJPW.

The other 2 original 4 members were Bad Luck Fale, who served as Balor’s “Personal Bouncer” at the time, and Tama Tonga, who is the son of Haku, aka Meng.

The Young Bucks Welcome Marty Scurll to Bullet Club, Video

Marty Scurll joined Bullet Club at the War of the Worlds PPV event this weekend. The Young Bucks have now released previously unseen footage from backstage at the event.

The Bucks insinuate that Scurll has been with Bullet Club longer than what has been shown on television.

Bullet Club’s “Villain”

At the War of the Worlds PPV, Adam Cole lost a singles match to Hiroshi Tanahashi. After the match the Bucks came out and acted like they were going to super-kick Cole, but then 2-sweeted him instead.

The lights went out and Kenny Omega’s face appeared on the screen. Omega publicly fired Cole, and announced “the Villian” Marty Scurll as the newest member of Bullet Club. The lights went out again, Scurll was in the ring, and the Bucks super-kicked Cole, officially ending his time in the faction.

  1. Silas Young vs. Kushida vs. Dalton Castle vs. Bobby Fish

Kushida came out in a Yankees jersey. Silas Young cut a promo on Kushida pandering to the crowd and attacked him to start the match.

Everyone got some offence in but Kushida in particular seemed to be made to look strong. He got armbars on both Bobby Fish and Dalton Castle, with each having to be broken up before the guy tapped. He will be participating in the Best of the Super Juniors next week.

The finish of the match started when Kushida was taken out by a clothesline by Silas. Then Fish took Silas out with a legsweep. This left Fish and Castle in the ring alone, Castle hit Bang-A-Rang and got the pin.

Bobby Fish successfully defended the ROH TV title against Dalton Castle earlier this year, so there could be another match between those two coming. They shook hands after the match.

Winner: Dalton Castle

  • A video package of the history between Kazarian and Hangman Page/Bullet Club is shown. Kazarian had convinced Bullet Club he had joined the faction and had betrayed Christopher Daniels, his longtime tag partner. It was a swerve however, and Kazarian helped Daniels beat Adam Cole to win the ROH Championship. Now Kazarian is feuding with Bullet Club.

  1. Frankie Kazarian vs. Hangman Page (Bullet Club)

Kazarian hit Page with a diving cannonball before he could enter the ring, and the match started with a brawl on the outside.

There were a couple of fun moves early; Page hit a standing shooting star press from the apron to the floor on Kazarian. Then Kazarian hit an unprettier (aka Christian’s finishing move).

Eventually they started spitting at each other. Literally they took turns spitting at each other similar to how strong-style wrestlers exchange forearms. They had a similar gross spitting spot on television recently.

Finish of the match came when Page hooked the ropes in the corner while Kazarian was going for a sunset flip. Page continued to hold onto the ropes as he had Kazarian’s shoulders pinned and got the 3-count. Kevin Kelly made sure to mention that there will be more to come between these two.

Winner: Hangman Page (Bullet Club)

  1. Evil & Sanada (Los Ingobernables) vs. War Machine vs. Chris Sabin & Jonathon Gresham w/ Alex Shelley (Search & Destroy)

There were a lot of fun spots here. Rowe gave an overhead belly-to-belly to both members of Search & Destroy at the same time. Evil then wrapped Hanson’s head in a chair, and then hit that chair with another chair. War Machine definitely looked strong. They just defended their tag titles last month in NJPW, and are scheduled to do so again next month against the Guerillas of Destiny.

The beginning of the end started when Sanada took everyone out on the outside with a plancha. Sabin then ended up alone in the ring with both members of War Machine, who gave him a pop-up powerslam for the win.

Winners: War Machine

  1. Jay White vs. Will Ospreay

This match is interesting from an NJPW perspective, as Jay White was a young lion and is now on loan/excursion to ROH. Meanwhile, Ospreay won the Best of the Juniors last year, so a win for Jay White would indicate they have big plans for him. Cabana mentioned on commentary that White is putting on weight to wrestle as a heavyweight however.

Jay White got in a lot of offence, including a Muta-clutch, brainbuster on the apron, and a flying dropkick. Ospreay got in a lot of his office as well, including a standing spanish fly, reversing a move into a cutter, and lots of kicks and his normal array of impressive offence.

An interesting part of the match was when White reversed a springboard move by Ospreay into a position where he had both of his arms trapped, allowing him to freely land elbows to Ospreay’s head. It looked as though the ref was going to step in, but White ended up getting free.

Ospreay hit the most ridiculous springboard shooting star press to the outside that you will ever see. He then rolled White into the ring, hit a springboard cutter and picked up the win. The crowd was very into this.

Winner: Will Ospreay (CHAOS)

  • After the match Punishment Martinez hit the ring and took out Osprey. White tried to help, but he got hit with the South of Heaven Chokeslam.

  1. ROH 6-Man Tag Team Championship
Bully Ray & the Briscoes © vs. Hirooki Goto, Rocky Romero, & Beretta (CHAOS)

Roppongi Vice recently won the IWGP jr heavyweight tag titles, so they had a chance to become double champs in this match.

Bully Ray came out in the rafters and announced this will be a no DQ match. He has a lot of history in this building, and there were ECW chants periodically throughout the match.

There were a lot of diving moves to the outside and chairshots early here, with each team getting in time on offence. There was some throwing of chairs to the head, but not unprotected swinging chair shots..

Aside from the early chair useage, the match wasn’t that hardcore for the most part. It was high paced however. At one point Jay Briscoe hit a double doomsday device, followed by Mark hitting an elbow from the top to Goto. Bully Ray then called for the tables. Ray powerbombed Berretta through a table from the 2nd rope, then they hit 3-D on Romero for the win.

Winners: Bully Ray & the Briscoes

  • We were shown a replay of earlier this month on television, when Marty Scurll was cutting a promo about being out of opponents. Sydal came down to the ringside and simply pointed at Scurll’s belt to let him know he was challenging him for a title shot.
  • Last week on ROH TV, Sydal had just won a singles match when Scurll ran to ringside and attacked him from behind, but Sydal was able to fend him off.

6. ROH TV Title
Marty Scurll © vs. Matt Sydal

Each guy got in the majority of their offensive arsenal, and Sydal even added a new move.

Sydal reversed Scurll’s chickenwing at least twice. The first time he reversed it, Scurll transitioned into that finger-breaking move he does. Sydal hit a hurricanrana and a flying knee shortly after that however.

Not long after Sydal countered the chickenwing for the second time, he landed what looked to be a Gory-bomb, i.e the Guerreros. After that, he went to the top for the shooting star press. Scurll got his knees up however, then was finally able to lock in the chickenwing and got the tap.

Winner: Marty Scurrll

7. ROH Tag Team Championship
The Young Bucks © vs. Tetsuya Naito & Bushi (Los Ingobernables)

It seemed as though the Bucks were getting the majority of the offence in the first part of this match. They did a lot of their innovative tag team moves, but were eventually slowed down when Naito hit a tornado DDT on Nick, followed by a reverse hurricanarana on Matt.

Naito then went for Destino on Matt but it was reversed to a piledriver position, and the Bucks started to go for the Meltzer Driver. Bushi prevented Nick from springboarding into the ring however, and then with the ref out of position he sprayed poison mist into Matt’s eyes. Naito rolled him up for the pin, but Matt kicked out just in time.

When Matt got up he was blind and walking around the ring, but he could still hit super kicks! He hit Naito, Bushi, then his own brother Nick, and then the referee because he didn’t know who was who. He finally got a bottle of water to clear out his eyes. Then Naito hit him with Destino, but Nick broke up the pin with a swanton.

Matt Jackson took out Naito with a tornado DDT on the apron, which allowed Nick to go to the top and Matt to roll Bushi into the ring. Matt hit a standing moonsault, and Nick came off the top in unison. Nick covered Bushi for a near-fall only.

Finally, Nick took Naito out on the outside with a flying cannonball, allowing Matt to grab Bushi and put him in position for the Meltzer Driver. The Bucks hit their finish and got the win.

Winners: the Young Bucks

  • A Very Interesting announcement after this match! NJPW has created a new championship: The IWGP U.S Championship. There will be a tournament for the title shortly, with Jay Lethal already announced as participating.
  • NJPW will be running a G1 show in LA on July 1st. They also announced the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental championships will also be defended on that show. This is all apart of NJPW’s US expansion plans.

8. Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Adam Cole (Bullet Club)

Commentary talked about how this match is between arguably the greatest champion in modern day NJPW against the same in ROH. Cole is a 3x ROH champion, and Tanahashi ruled NJPW for the last decade. After his loss to Okada at WrestleKingdom Tanahashi has fallen out of the IWGP heavyweight title picture, but will wrestle Naito for the Intercontinental championship next month.

Each guy got a lot of offence in. Cole hit the Last Shot, countered Tanahashi’s High Fly Flow,  and even his own version of the High Fly Flow at one point. Tanahashi finally landed his patented High Fly Flow frog splash and got the pin.

Winner: Hiroshi Tanahashi

  • After the match, Cole remained in the ring while some fans chanted “thank you Adam!” (has Cole signed with someone?) The Young Bucks then hit the ring and played it up like they were going to finally superkick Cole after weeks of building towards a split. Cole turned around and the Bucks acted like everything was fine and gave him the 2 sweet signal. Kelly referred to it as them doing their own version of a curtain call.
  • Then the lights went out and we cut to a video of Kenny Omega. He says he was disappointed in the Bucks for standing with Cole after he tried to fire them from Bullet Club. He tells Adam he has had a long and storied career, but just like all fairy tales there “has to be a hero and a villain”. The camera fades back to reveal the bird mask worn by Marty Scurll. Omega then tells Cole he is officially fired.

  • The lights go back on in the building and Marty Scurll is in the ring. He reveals an umbrella with the Bullet Club logo. Then the Young Bucks superkick Adam Cole. Scurll then reveals a Bullet Club shirt.

9. ROH World Championship
Christopher Daniels © vs. Jay Lethal vs. Cody (Bullet Club)

Commentary was playing up how Cody is a free agent, and looking to achieve as much as he can all over the world.

Lethal began favouring his shoulder after landing a suicide dive, but it didn’t seem to impact him too much. Later in the match Cody would bring out a table, though it wouldn’t be used immediately.

Cody ended up hitting Daniels with the Cross Rhodes, but when he went for the pin Lethal came off the top for an elbow. Cody got out of the way just in time, and Lethal ended up hitting Daniels. He stumbled onto the apron, and Cody ended up hitting him off the apron and through the table. This left Cody and Lethal alone in the ring.

There was a ref bump, followed by Cody hitting a low blow on Lethal. When Cody went for the Disaster Kick, Lethal countered into a cutter for a nearfall. Lethal then went for the Lethal Injection, but Cody countered into the Cross Rhodes, but Lethal kicked out just in time.

Cody then put Lethal in a figure-four, but Daniels got back into the match, hit the Best Moonsault Ever on Cody and pinned him while Lethal was still trapped in his figure-four. The crowd was into it. They were into most things on this show.

Winner: Christopher Daniels
