Chad Gable Embraces Mentor Role: “When Did I Become the Old Guy?”

WWE RAW Superstar Chad Gable has embraced a new chapter in his career as a mentor to younger talent, particularly within his stable, American Made. In a recent appearance on The Jay Ferruggia Show, Gable reflected on his evolving role within WWE.

“When these younger guys come to me for advice, I know I need to give them my full attention,” Gable explained. “People did that for me when I was coming up, and now it’s my turn to pay it forward.”

The transition to mentor has brought unexpected growth in Gable’s own approach to teaching.

“What’s really special about these relationships is how they’ve changed me,” he noted. “When they come with questions, I find myself being more thoughtful and deliberate with my responses, moving beyond just giving the expected answers.”

The shift in his status became apparent to Gable over the past year and a half, as he found himself increasingly sought out for guidance.

“There was this moment when I realized more of the roster was coming to me for advice, and I thought, ‘Wait – when did I become the old guy?'”

While the realization caught him by surprise, Gable has found fulfillment in his role as a mentor. His experience exemplifies WWE’s tradition of veteran performers helping to develop the next generation of talent, continuing a cycle that has long been vital to the company’s success.

Chad Gable Discusses Lack of Singles Title Win In WWE

Chad Gable is ready to hold a singles title in WWE.

The American-made leader has won gold while competing in all three brands of WWE as part of various tag teams. Despite his decade-plus career with the company, however, he is still in the hunt for his first singles championship in the world of professional wrestling.

The former Olympian talked about his predicament during a recent appearance on The Jay Ferruggia Show. Gable claimed that he is considering the ‘dangerous’ idea of making this his goal for 2025:

“I’m entertaining the idea if I’m going to put ‘win a singles title’ on my goals for 2025 because it’s not all in my hands. I will be very disappointed if I don’t deliver.

I’m a goal guy. I’m a goal-driven guy. I’m interested to see what I will do, on top of everything else I do, to try to make that happen or force it to happen. I know I’m ready. I can carry a title.”

People Are Going To Have Respect For That: Chad Gable

Chad Gable came very close to winning his first singles title in 2023 when he feuded with the then Intercontinental Champion Gunther. Gable even picked up a victory over the Ring General via countout in one of the title matches during their feud, ending Gunther’s undefeated streak on the main roster.

To the frustration of a lot of fans, however, it was Gunther who got the upper hand in the end. He ended the feud with a decisive win over Gable, making Chad’s daughter cry in the process. When the host mentioned that people have been ready for a Chad Gable title run, the 38-year-old noted that fans mention it to him every time he interacts with them:

“You can sense that, I get that any time I interact with people at a meet and greet. ‘You gotta get your singles title.’ It’s almost cool in a sense that no matter what it is or which title ends up being, I think people are going to have respect for that. ‘He earned it. He deserved it.’

Gable lost a match to the debuting Penta during the January 13th episode of Raw. Since then he has embarked on a quest to learn the ‘dark arts of Lucha Libre’ to enact revenge on the masked star.

Shelton Benjamin Opens Up About Failed Tag Team With Chad Gable

Shelton Benjamin has explained why his partnership with Chad Gable did not go anywhere.

The Gold Standard was paired with the former American Alpha member in SmackDown upon his WWE return in 2017. This came after Gable’s former partner Jason Jordan was moved to the Raw brand to start his infamous storyline with Kurt Angle, quietly disbanding their team.

Benjamin opened up about working with the former Olympic Athlete during his appearance on Talk Is Jericho. He first offered big praise to the 38-year-old and proclaimed that Gable still hasn’t gotten his due:

“When I first arrived, they put me with Chad Gable and well, like, phenomenal worker. No, he has not [gotten his due]. He hasn’t. And to me, it sucks, because everyone has an excuse.

I said for every excuse, I can point out an example why that excuse makes no sense. That guy is special, whether fans realize it or not, he is. He’s got a blue-collar mentality. He’s Uber-talented. He’s dedicated. He’ll do whatever you need him to.”

We Just Didn’t Click: Shelton Benjamin

Though despite being compatible on paper, the team of Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable did not find a lot of success. Their run lasted 8 months before they were split up during the 2018 Superstar Shakeup without ever holding any titles together.

Speaking about why the pairing did not work despite having similar backgrounds, Shelton Benjamin said that he never really clicked with Gable. He remembered his chemistry with Team Angle partner Charlie Haas and said that he never felt the same teaming with the current WWE star:

“When they put us together. Obviously, he’s actually from Minneapolis too. So it seemed right, especially, with Jason not being able to work anymore. But I don’t really think that tag team worked. We had some good matches. They threw us in some really zany matches. We had a great matchup with the Usos, but it, for me, it really wasn’t working. Through no fault of anyone.

The chemistry, it wasn’t like me and Charlie. Me and Charlie were like, Charlie’s the best partner I’ve ever had. So for whatever reason, me and [Gable] while we got along great, we just didn’t click the same way. It wasn’t the same but again, that being said, all due respect, that kid is phenomenal. Everything he’s done, he’s made work.”

Triple H, Tony Khan And More Share Their Thanksgiving Celebrations

Another Thanksgiving is in the books as people around the United States have shared what they’re grateful for, all while digesting copious amounts of food. For the stars of wrestling, there’s plenty to be thankful for, and some names in the industry took to social media to share how they celebrated.

On X, WWE CCO Pal ‘Triple H’ Levesque gave a rare look at his personal life by sharing a Thanksgiving workout with his daughters.

WWE NXT Superstar Nikkita Lyons celebrated Thanksgiving in a unique way by showing off her twerking skills.

Lyons may have twerked one too many times, as later in the day, she shared that she wasn’t thankful for the sickness she was dealing with. The Lioness said that someone had gotten her sick at an NXT live event last Friday in Lakeland, Florida.

Braun Strowman enjoyed Thanksgiving, which is more than can be said for the 8 deer he killed and later shared on his Instagram Stories.

NXT Superstar Lexis King was able to celebrate the day with his ‘Queen.’ The second-generation wrestler has been trying to become a better person as of late in the silver brand and avoid his usual heel tactics.

Chad Gable showed that there are no off days when it comes to training to be the best, and that includes Thanksgiving.

And AEW President Tony Khan celebrated Thanksgiving by sharing how thankful he is that there’s plenty more matches to go in the Continental Classic. The tournament has new rules this year, and its winner will be crowned at AEW Worlds End next month.

The LWO took their Thanksgiving celebration to Arizona by delivering over 50,000 meals as part of community outreach. We at SEScoops would like to wish everybody a Happy Thanksgiving as wrestling fans have plenty to be thankful for.

Chad Gable To Be An Ambassador For 2026 Special Olympics

If Chad Gable’s still a heel by 2026, he’ll pivot to one of WWE’s top babyface when it comes to the Special Olympics.

Gable announced on X his excitement for becoming an ambassador for the 2026 Special Olympics Games which will hail out of Minnesota.

“I’m excited to announce I’m an official ambassador for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games!

“Get ready for some epic moments as we celebrate all the incredible athletes who will compete in Minnesota in 2026!”

Gable will be following in the footsteps of fellow top heel on RAW in Drew McIntyre who happened to be a global ambassador for the 2023 Special Olympics. Drew also was an ambassador during the 2021 Special Olympics while WWE was in Las Vegas for SummerSlam. Another person Gable is mirroring in more ways than one is Kurt Angle who just recently appeared at the Special Olympics softball games which took place in Pittsburgh.

Chad Gable’s 2024

Chad Gable has had a banner year for his career in 2024. Gable started off as a big time babyface when he was feuding with GUNTHER before he ultimately turned on Sami Zayn and began demeaning Otis, Maxxine Dupri and Tozawa of the Alpha Academy.

He later received some comeuppance for his transgressions courtesy of the Wyatt Sicks who left him a bloody mess backstage. This caused Gable to feud with the mysterious faction and it prompted him to form American Made, aligning himself with The Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile. The new group definitively lost that feud, but just this past Monday on Raw expressed an intent to move on from a battle with Bo Dallas’ new group.

Uncle Howdy To Make In-Ring Debut On 8/26 WWE RAW

Uncle Howdy, the macabre side of Bo Dallas, will make his in-ring debut during next week’s episode of WWE Monday Night RAW. Howdy will face American Made’s Chad Gable on the show in what’ll be the latest chapter of their feud. Gable was attacked by the Wyatt Sicks upon the faction’s debut in June with some fans claiming the Olympian had been ‘killed’ due to the bloody wound on his head.

This will mark the first WWE match for Howdy, and Bo Dallas’ first WWE match since a WWE live event in November 2019. In the faction’s in-ring debut, Joe Gacy, Dexter Lumis, and Erick Rowan, defeated Gable and the Creed Brothers earlier this month.,

Next Week’s WWE RAW

The in-ring debut of Uncle Howdy will be just one highlight of the go home edition of WWE RAW before Bash in Berlin on August 31. On the show, Bronson Reed’s path of destruction will see him collide with Braun Strowman. A tournament to decide the next challenger for Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker will also get underway. Breakker won the gold from Sami Zayn at WWE SummerSlam, marking his first title on the main roster.

After months of cryptic messages, fans are eager to see how Uncle Howdy fares in the ring Stay tuned to SE Scoops for all the latest in the build towards next week’s crucial match.

Chad Gable On The Wyatt Sicks, Shorty G, Kurt Angle Comparisons

WWE RAW Superstar Chad Gable recently sat down with the Insight podcast to discuss a variety of topics. Gable re-signed with WWE earlier this year and has been a prominent player on Monday Night Raw throughout 2024.

On The Wyatt Sicks

As of late, Gable has run afoul of the Wyatt Sicks and was seen motionless and bleeding from the head when the group arrived on the main roster. This led some to joke that Gable had been killed off. On the podcast, Gable said the reaction from fans was “insane” and recalled a young fan approaching him about being ‘killed’ while at church.

“He’s like ‘Where did it [the wound] go?’ I’m like, ‘Well, I mean, I fixed it bud, I went to the hospital and stuff, it was bad.’ And he’s like ‘What did they do to you?’ I’m like, ‘You’ll have to tune in tomorrow night.'”

On Bray Wyatt

The Wyatt Sicks is obviously inspired heavily by Bray Wyatt who tragically passed away in August of last year. Gable recalled working with the the three-time WWE World Champion upon joining WWE’s main roster in 2016.

“I learned a lot from Bray in that time and just gained the utmost respect for him. Because he’s one of those guys that when he speaks his mind or gives you feedback you listen. Nothing he says feels like he’s just saying it.”

On Not Having A Bad Match

Gable has been commended among fans and his peers as a reliable athlete who is seemingly incapable of having a bad match. This “feather in my cap” is one Gable takes immense pride in as he intends to give his best no matter his position.

“[A match] could only be like 90 seconds or two minutes at times. Some people might write that off and be like, well, it’s just a two-minute match, let’s just go do it. It’s like no, man, I have two minutes tonight, let’s see just how good we can make two minutes.”

On Kurt Angle Comparisons

With a background in Olympic wrestling and an unbridled intensity in the ring, Gable has often found himself being compared to Kurt Angle. Speaking on the podcast, Gable said it was an “honor” to have his name mentioned alongside WWE’s first Olympic Gold Medalist.

“Kurt is the man dude, he’s been so cool. throughout everything we’ve done with him. I got to wrestle him, which was insane.”

On Shorty G

In 2019, Gable’s character was dramatically changed and much was made of his height. The unpopular changes also saw Gable’s name be changed to Shorty G, a name change that on-screen was presented as Gable’s own idea. The storyline came at a “low point” for Gable, who at the time was desperate for any opportunity on WWE TV. Thankfully, Gable’s time as Shorty G would end, and he believes it showed WWE that he was a team player.

“I did the most I could with it. I think what it showed was that I am willing to contribute in whatever manner, if it’s down here, or up here, I’m willing to contribute whatever I can and whatever is asked of me.”

On Not Holding Singles Gold

For all his years with WWE, Gable has yet to hold a singles championship, a fact alluded to during his IC Title pursuit and feud with GUNTHER. The Olympian is hopeful that singles gold will soon be his and is disappointed that it didn’t happen during his program with Sami Zayn.

“We’ve got one piece of the puzzle left to fill in… it’s still on the table.”

The Wyatt Sicks Unmask, Will Make In-Ring Debut On 8/5 WWE RAW

Fans will get to see The Wyatt Sicks in action next week as three members of the faction will be in six-man tag-team action. During this week’s RAW, The Wyatt Sicks once again came face-to-face with Gable and the Creeds. On the ring apron, three members unmasked to reveal they are Erick Rowan, Dexter Lumis, and Joe Gacy. When Gable tried to leave, he received a crossbody from Nikki Cross. When Gable left to go to the back, he was confronted by Uncle Howdy, who remained masked.

It has been confirmed that the group will take on Chad Gable and the Creed Brothers during the August 5, episode of Monday Night RAW. This will mark the in-ring debut for the faction with these current characters.

The Wyatt Sicks has been targeting Gable ever since making their much-anticipated debut on WWE Monday Night RAW back in June of this year. Gable was seen bleeding from the head when the faction arrived. While the cryptic, mysterious actions of the group so far have won over audiences, there have been questions as to how the faction will work when trading holds and strikes like everyone else on the roster. Fans will get the answer to those questions on next week’s Monday Night RAW.

WWE RAW – August 5

Next week’s show will also deal with the fallout from WWE SummerSlam 2024. That show will take place this Saturday, August 3, from the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio, Next week’s RAW will also see faction warfare as Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai will take on the leader of RAW’s newest women’s faction Sonya Deville.

Kurt Angle Believes Chad Gable Has “Done Enough” To Carve Out His Own Identity

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle recently reckoned that Chad Gable shouldn’t be compared to him.

Gable and Angle have similar backgrounds due to their amateur wrestling career as well as their Olympic career. Fans have often drawn comparison between the two but ‘The Olympic Gold Medalist’ feels that shouldn’t be done any longer.

Chad Gable recently revealed that Randy Orton praised him and said that he’s no longer the next Kurt Angle. The WWE legend has agreed to Orton’s comments. Speaking on the Kurt Angle Show, Angle said that Gable has managed to successfully develop his character and showered praise on him. He believes that Gable has established his own identity in the company. He said:

“[Chad’s character has] developed incredibly well. I just love Chad. He has such a great energy about him, great attitude. When they said, ‘You’re the next Kurt Angle,’ he took it. He said, ‘I’m proud to be the next Kurt Angle. That’s a great compliment.’ But I think Randy’s right. He’s earned his own stripes. I believe that he’s done enough of his own stuff that now he is labeled as Chad Gable. He’s no longer the next Kurt Angle. He’s Chad Gable, and he’s gonna show the whole world what he can do.”

Chad Gable recently fell prey to the wrath of The Wyatt Sicks. However, he attempted to exact revenge on the sinister group on last week’s Raw. He aligned with The Creed Brothers (Julius Creed & Brutus Creed) to launch an attack on Bo Dallas, who continued to laugh during the attack. Later on, the Wyatt Sicks members emerged as Gable and Creed Brothers retreated.

The Wyatt Sicks Release Another VHS Tape On WWE RAW

The Wyatt Sicks seem to have a target in Chad Gable and that was all the more furthered on the July 1 episode of WWE RAW.

The opening of the episode had the Wyatt Sicks scare off a concerned Gable yet again which led Nikki Cross to once again make her way over to Michael Cole to hand him another box. In that box was another VHS tape and it wasn’t until later on in the episode when that tape was played.

This Week’s Wyatt Sicks Tape

Much like the tape from last week, this one included more footage of Uncle Howdy “sitting down” with Bo Dallas. Dallas continues to appear conflicted and full of rage as he mentions how the name of Wyatt Sicks brought all these forgotten names together.

“Special implies that others are not, that there’s others that are less than that deserves to be forgotten. We’re the ones that everybody wanted to forget about. We’re the ones that everybody abandoned. We made them notice us.”

Dallas said this bond between them all made them become a family, and he happens to take exception to a certain individual who has been taking advantage of that unity.

“Even now there’s false prophets berating, belitting their family for their own game! It’s disgusting. They must pay for their sins.”

Considering the Wyatts have consistently targeted Chad Gable, it was safe to assume that Dallas was referring to him. Gable confirmed such after a commercial break. We saw Gable approach Otis, who made clear that his issue with The Wyatt Sicks was his problem, not theirs.

Fan Theories

The Wyatt Sicks are all about mystery and cryptic clues, so fans have already been conditioned to watch everything they do very closely.

WWE Intercontinental Title Match Added To Clash At The Castle

WWE Clash at the Castle is set for June 15 in Glasgow, Scotland. Sami Zayn will be there with an Intercontinental Title match.

On this week’s WWE RAW, Sami Zayn appeared, soon joined by the Alpha Academy. Maxxine Dupri read a note from Gable, who didn’t show up himself. Zayn then booked an IC Title match against Gable at Clash at the Castle.

Gable then attacked Zayn, leading to chaos. Akira Tozawa and Maxxine were knocked off the apron, and Otis acted like he would stand up to Gable. This gave Sami time to recover and get his revenge.

After the segment, Alpha Academy was shown backstage, with Chad Gable the only happy one. Maxxine Dupri and Tozawa sold their injuries, while Otis looked conflicted. Gable kissed Otis on the cheek, saying they will come together at Clash at the Castle to ensure he wins the IC Title.

With Gable’s WWE contract nearing its end and this storyline heading to the premium live event, it seems the Alpha Academy’s meltdown will happen in Scotland.

  • Damian Priest (c) vs. Drew McIntyre – Singles match for the World Heavyweight Championship
  • Bayley (c) vs. Piper Niven – Singles match for the WWE Women’s Championship
  • Sami Zayn (c) vs. Chad Gable – Singles match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

How Much Do WWE Superstars On The Main Roster Make?

WWE has been doing record business, grossing $1.32 billion in sales last year. The company’s $5 billion deal with Netflix to bring WWE Raw to the streaming platform in January 2025 will bring another massive windfall of cash. However, many fans wonder how much of that trickles down to the athletes we see on television.

Top Superstars spark bidding wars and command multi-million dollar contracts. Setting aside stars like Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair, a new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter sheds light on the current annual baseline.

According to Dave Meltzer, the current minimum salary for WWE Superstars on the main roster is $350,000 per year. Most wrestlers sign multi-year deals, and you can be sure the top stars on each brand are making far more than the minimum. WWE is in a strong position to make lucrative financial offers to talent. However, there’s a trend emerging that should not be ignored.

Numerous Contracts Expiring

WWE is heading into an interesting dilemma as several featured stars on the main roster contract will expire soon. One of the most significant examples is Becky Lynch, who could be a free agent by the end of the week. As of now, it doesn’t seem they have yet to reach a new agreement.

Another talent that could test free agency is Chad Gable. Although he has been heavily featured on Monday Night Raw and involved in a feud with Sami Zayn, his contract will expire at the end of next week

It’s unclear why so many talent contracts are set to expire so soon. Although numerous superstars are near free agency, they may ultimately re-sign with WWE. Wrestling fans should have more clarity soon as the company must expeditiously reach new agreements with their superstars.

Report: Chad Gable’s WWE Contract Expires Next Week

Chad Gable could become a free agent as soon as next weekend, according to Fightful Select. Sean Ross Sapp reports that Gable’s WWE contract is believed to expire at the end of next week. Now entering the final week of a multi-year deal, it’s increasingly likely that he will at least test the waters of free agency.

Known for his amateur wrestling credentials and in-ring technical proficiency, Gable signed with WWE in November 2013. The 38-year-old and his former partner Jason Jordan tore it up in NXT as American Alpha. They had some of the best tag team matches in the brand’s history, winning gold in developmental and on the main roster.

Interestingly, Gable has held WWE tag titles on the main roster with three separate partners: Jason Jordan, Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Roode. Today, he’s the leader of the Alpha Academy faction. which haS been dealing with some on-sreen infighting. Gable is urging Tozawa, Maxxine Durpi, and Otis to adopt his more villainous ways, but they are resisting.

Gable has been involved in countless storylines during his decade-plus in WWE, but  he’s very satisfied with his current work. He told TNT Sports this week:

“This version of [my character], believe it or not, is probably the closest to my real personality than anything else I’ve done. Not to say that I’m a jerk but I am a very hard-nosed disciplined human being in real life.”

As we’ve seen, Gable can more than hold his own in the realm of ‘sports entertainment,’ which makes him even more valuable to companies with a never-ending need to churn out content. Gable is a rare talent who can shine in the ring, on the mic and as a coach, so he will have some serious options to consider in the weeks ahead.

We’ll be following this story closely in the days ahead and will provide an update when additional details are available. For more on Chad Gable’s potential WWE exit, keep an eye on our always-current WWE Releases & Departures Tracker.

Chad Gable: ‘Current WWE Character Is Very Close To The Real Me’

Chad Gable may not be as evil as his WWE on-screen persona is, but the WWE Raw Superstar is aware that his on-screen work isn’t entirely different from the real him.

Since turning heel in April 2024, Gable has debuted a profound mean streak on WWE TV with his allies in Alpha Academy often bearing the brunt of his outbursts. The former Olympian has berated Akira Tozawa, Maxxine Dupri, and Otis multiple times and has made them pledge their support for his pursuit of the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Chad Gable On His Heel Turn

This heel turn for Gable has shown a vicious side to the Olympian that fans didn’t see even in the past when Chad has worked as a villain. Sitting down with TNT Sports, Gable reflected on his change of demeanor and how fun it is to be a heel.

“It’s certainly easier, I’ll tell you that much. Most people identify with the fact that it’s easier to get people to hate you than it is to like you.”

Gable then explained how this character has a lot more in common with the real him than fans may first expect.

“This version of it, believe it or not, is probably the closest to my real personality than anything else I’ve done. Not to say that I’m a jerk but I am a very hard-nosed disciplined human being in real life.

“Ask anyone close to me and they will tell you the same. Now I don’t necessarily talk to them the way I talk to Alpha Academy right now but they do know that when it comes down to the things that I take seriously, training fitness, anything I apply that discipline to, they don’t interfere in that part of my life.”

Gable hopes that this dedication will score him the WWE Intercontinental Championship. The former Olympian will challenge Sami Zayn for the gold at WWE King And Queen Of The Ring in a triple threat match that will include ‘Big’ Bronson Reed.

WWE Raw Preview (5/20): King & Queen Of The Ring Semifinals, Zayn vs. Gable

WWE will get closer to crowning a new King and Queen of the Ring on the May 20 edition of WWE RAW. Tonight’s edition of Raw from North Carolina’s historic Greensboro Coliseum will see a continuation of the men’s and women’s tournaments. If you’re in the area, tickets for the show are still available at Ticketmaster.

The King and Queen of the Ring Tournaments tournaments began on May 6 and will conclude this Saturday at at the Jeddah Dome in Saudi Arabia. This will be the first Premium Live Event to be named after the tournaments since WWE King of the Ring 2002.

On the men’s side of things, GUNTHER will take on Jey Uso for a place in the finals in Jeddah. GUNTHER reached this spot with victories over his old rival Sheamus as well as Kofi Kingston. Jey reached the semi-finals with wins over Finn Balor and Ilja Dragunov.

Jey Uso vs. Gunther in the King of the Ring Semifinals

For the Queen of the Ring Tournament semi-finals, Lyra Valkyria will take on IYO SKY. The recently called-up Valkyria reached this spot in the tournament with wins over Dakota Kai and Zoey Stark. SKY has rebounded from her loss at WrestleMania 40 by advancing with wins over Natalya and Shayna Baszler.

In non-tournament action, we’ll see Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn battle Chad Gable in a non-title match. These two and Bronson Reed will compete for Zayn’s title this weekend.

Other top feuds headed into the PLE include Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs. United States Champion Logan Paul and Liv Morgan challenging Becky Lynch for the Women’s World Championship.

WWE King & Queen Of The Ring 2024: Title Matches Confirmed On 5/6 Raw

Liv Morgan will have one more shot at becoming WWE Women’s World Champion when she challenges Becky Lynch at WWE King And Queen Of The Ring.

On the May 6, episode of Raw, it was confirmed that Morgan will challenge The Man at WWE’s next PLE in Saudi Arabia. This has quickly become a very personal feud between the pair, as Morgan was the last woman to be eliminated in the battle royal that saw Lynch capture the title in April

Morgan has made it clear that she believes she deserves to be called WWE Women’s World Champion. After all, it was Morgan who injured Rhea Ripley in an assault that forced Ripley to vacate the title in the first place. Morgan is also the last woman to hold a pinfall victory over the ‘Mami’ of The Judgment Day.

Intercontinental Title Match Announced

Morgan’s title opportunity wasn’t the only match confirmed on the May 6, episode of WWE Monday Night Raw. On the show, ‘Big’ Bronson Reed faced Gad Gable in a match that saw interference from Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn. This would ultimately backfire for the underdog, as Reed would lay out Sami and Gable.

In a backstage interview with Jackie Redmond, Zayn said the only way to settle things is a triple threat match for his Intercontinental Championship. This will mark the first Intercontinental title opportunity at a PLE for both Gable and Reed.

SE Scoops will have full coverage of the King & Queen of the Ring event, as well as tournament matches. Keep checking in ahead of WWE’s next Saudi Arabia event.

WWE 2K24 DLC: The Sandman Trailer From 5/15 ECW Punk Pack

WWE 2K24 is set to have the first batch of downloadable content on May 15. The popular video game series will have five DLC packs, which fans can purchase together in a season pass for $39.99. In preparation for next week’s release, WWE 2K24 has shared a first look at ECW legend The Sandman.

The upcoming DLC titled the ECW Punk Pack features The Sandman, The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley & D-Von Dudley), Terry Funk, and CM Punk as playable characters. It will mark the first time they will be playable in the last few years, including The Sandman, who hasn’t been in a WWE video game since Smackdown vs. Raw 2008.

WWE 2K24’s X/Twitter account previewed a first look and the entrance for The Sandman.

More On The Sandman In WWE 2K24

Although the hardcore icon character model looks good, his appearance resembles his time in WWE. Fans may be disappointed that his signature ECW theme, Enter Sandman by Metallica, isn’t featured in his entrance. It’s also noticeable that the ECW legend doesn’t come to the ring from the crowd in the game.

The Sandman is rated 86 in WWE 2K24

It’s unclear why WWE 2K developers didn’t include The Sandman’s signature entrance in their latest installment. Alongside the first look at the hardcore legend, WWE 2K24 revealed that he has an 86 overall. The Sandman’s stats come as a surprise, with the ECW icon having better numbers than current WWE superstars.

The Sandman’s Overall Compared To Current WWE Superstars In The Game

The Sandman’s high overall may surprise some fans compared to active WWE talent featured in the game. WWE 2K24 has the former ECW World Heavyweight Champion rated higher than the likes of AJ Styles (85), Chad Gable (80), and Austin Theory (72). He also has a better overall than other WWE Hall of Famers featured in the game, like Booker T (85) and Harley Race (84).

In an interview with Squared Circle Pit’s Rob Pasbani, WWE 2K24 Producer Bryan Williams explained how it’s decided to give certain wrestlers their overall

SEScoops’ Thomas Lowson transcribed the following quotes.

“For us on the design side, we’re really big on character differentiation and making sure that when you select a character that they are of their appropriate hierarchy on the card. Not everybody can be a Roman Reigns. You have people that are at the tippety top of the card and then you have people that are not, but there’s no slight on anybody,” said Williams.

Williams also noted how many championships a wrestler has held and their win/loss record were considered when making the decision.

It’s unclear why the WWE 2K developers felt The Sandman should have a better overall than several top current talent and legends. However, fans of the ECW legend will soon get a chance to put his overall to the test next week.

Kurt Angle Praises Heel Chad Gable As “A Rebirth Of Kurt Angle”

WWE superstar Chad Gabe has begun to embrace his new role as a ‘Heel,’ as he aims to be a champion. He turned his back on fans after attacking WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn following a defeat on the April 15 episode of Monday Night Raw. Although he’s still earlier in his new persona, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angles sees himself in Gable’s new ‘Heel’ role.

On a recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show, the former WWE Champion praised Gable’s new character change. When answering a fan’s question about his thoughts on the WWE superstar’s in-ring promo on the April 22 episode of Raw, Angle believes that Gable is doing things he used to do in his career.

“Well, listen, the Kurt Angle formula worked the first time. The Kurt Angle formula will work today. I’ve noticed. I’ve been watching Chad, and he’s doing a lot of actions that Kurt Angle used to do,” said the WWE Hall of Famer.

Angle noted that Gable’s characteristics, facial expressions, and even finisher(Ankle Lock) seem inspired by him.

“…I feel like this is a rebirth of Kurt Angle, but I’ll tell you this: he’s doing a great job at it, too. He’s really stepped up and I don’t know if I can do it any better than him. He’s doing really good right now,” said Angle.

While Gable may be taking inspiration from Angle, the WWE Hall of Famer has shared that he would be open to being his manager.

Kurt Angle On Possibly Being A Manager For Chad Gable

Angle believes the WWE Universe would love to see a new version of his classic faction, Team Angle. The popular group was led by the former WWE Champion and featured a tag team of Shelton Benjamin and Charlier Haas. WWE fans have also recently considered the possibility of the Creed Brothers(Brutus & Julius Creed) working with Gable to form a new faction.

Currently, Gable is focused on his Alpha Academy and winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship. However, Angle thinks he can greatly advocate for Gable under the right circumstances. He didn’t share the terms, but his co-host Paul Bromwell suggested money is a factor.

It’s unclear if WWE would consider bringing Angle back to be a manager for Gable. For now, Gable has set his sights on Zayn and finally aims to finally put singles gold around his waist.

Chad Gable and The Creed Brothers Will Soon Be A Dangerous Pairing

WrestleMania and the WWE Draft give the company a chance to shuffle the deck in a number of ways. Fans can look forward to a new pairing that will present fresh matchups wherever they wind up.

This week’s WWE RAW broadcast from Montreal concluded with Sami Zayn’s hometown hero victory. He retained the Intercontinental Title against Chad Gable, but the Underdog from the Underground’s celebration didn’t last long. Gable attacked him, turning heel in the process.

WWE is believed have big plans for the Olympian: an alliance with pro wrestling’s most technically capable tag team. According to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

“The belief going around is that the Creeds are going heel to form a unit with Gable.”

WWE had a handful of factions for this new trio to work against on both Raw and SmackDown, a scenario we are very excited to see play out.

Creed Brothers’ History Before WWE

Julius and Brutus Creed, real names Jacob and Drew Kasper, are brothers with an outstanding background in amateur wrestling.

The siblings from Lexington, Ohio took over amateur wrestling in high school. Julius Creed, 31, attended Duke University, where he graduated in sociology and excelled in wrestling, earning multiple NCAA honors and setting university records. He also competed in the 2016 Olympic Trials and later coached wrestling at Duke.

Brutus Creed, 27, went to Otterbein University, where he studied exercise science and had a notable wrestling career, achieving a 108–13 record and earning NCAA Division III All-American honors twice before his final season was cut short by the pandemic.

WWE obviously wanted the Creed Brothers, as Gerald Briscoe scouted them in 2018. In October 2020, WWE signed Julius Creed, and in February 2021, following a successful try-out, Brutus Creed inked a three-year contract with WWE.

The two stand out performers were aligned with the Diamond Mine stable in NXT for a while, where they had a run as NXT Tag Team Champions.

During the 2023 WWE Draft, the Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile were called up to the RAW brand, which is where we find ourselves today.

Aligning Chad Gable with the Creed Brothers could be a real recipe for success. They all have similar backgrounds, as Gable is a former state champion in high school. Gable was named as 2012 Greco-Roman Wrestler of the Year by USA Wrestling. He also won the 2012 the U.S. Olympic Trials, which secured him a spot to compete at the London Olympics in the 185-lbs division for Greco-Roman wrestling.

The Creed Brothers Continue To Impress, Chad Gable Turns Heel on 4/15 WWE Raw

Brutus & Julius Creed continued to impress on the April 15, episode of WWE Monday Night Raw even if they didn’t walk away with the win.

During the show, The Creed Brothers were part of a triple-threat tag team match with a shot at champions The Awesome Truth on the line. The Creeds were joined by DIY and the New Day in a fun match that saw plenty of offense from all three teams.

While it was DIY who got the win and the title opportunity, the Creeds certainly impressed and the team was even trending on Twitter as fans gushed over their performance. Though this show was not their night, the Creed Brothers could be on track for an opportunity at the newly-rechristened World Tag Team Championships if this momentum continues.

Chad Gable Turns Heel

In the main event of WWE Monday Night Raw, Chad Gable once again came up short in his efforts to win the Intercontinental Championship. The Olympian lost to Sami Zayn in Montreal, a stone’s throw away from the Underdog’s home in Laval, Quebec. After the match, a frustrated Gable delivered a beatdown on Zayn in front of the Intercontinental Champion’s wife and family.

Gable is already the leader of Alpha Academy but his heel turn could leave Otis, Maxxine Dupri, and Akira Tozawa unwilling to work with him for much longer. If so, perhaps Gable could form a new team of mat-based technicians with the Creed Brothers.

Trios like this aren’t unprecedented in WWE. During the Ruthless Aggression era, Kurt Angle formed Team Angle, which consisted of himself, Shelton Benjamin, and Charlie Haas. The group saw plenty of success and championships and Kurt would prove to be an inspiration to Gable when Chad pursued his Olympic dreams.

Like Gable with the Intercontinental title, the Creeds have impressed on the main roster but that has yet to result in championship gold. Perhaps an alliance between the three men is what’s needed to take them to the next level.

Josh Barnett Has Spoken To CM Punk & Other WWE & AEW Talent About Wrestling For Bloodsport

Former UFC fighter turned pro wrestler and promoter Josh Barnett says he’s spoken with CM Punk and other names from WWE and AEW about competing for his Bloodsport promotion, which is affiliated with Game Changer Wrestling (GCW).

The upcoming Bloodsport X event over WrestleMania weekend will feature a special attraction match pitting WWE Superstar Shayna Baszler against TNA’s Masha Slamovich.

Barnett wants to get more WWE (and AEW) contracted names to step into his league’s domain. During a recent appearance on the Under the Ring podcast, he revealed that he’s actually spoken with CM Punk about participating, as well as AEW star Malakai Black.

Both Punk and Black have martial arts experience and their offensive styles would translate well to Bloodsports’ ‘shoot-fight’ presentation.

Barnett also named Chad Gable, Born Breaker and Miro as grapplers he’d like to see fight in Bloodsport.

Punk has been out of action since suffering a torn triceps in the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match. The injury has robbed Punk of an opportunity to step in the ring at WrestleMania 40, but he still vows to make his presence felt.

CM Punk signed with the UFC in 2014 just months after leaving WWE. He wouldn’t make his debut until 2016 and lost in decisive fashion. Stephanie McMahon mocked Punk’s loss on WWE television, one of many examples of how bitter that relationship was for many years.

Punk’s second and final UFC fight was another decisive loss to Mike Jackson. That loss was later overturned and the result ruled a ‘no contest’ due to Jackson failing a test.

Booker T Shares Sami Zayn Was Upset With Fan Reaction To Monday Night Raw Match

WWE superstar Sami Zayn has punched his ticket into a featured match at WWE WrestleMania 40. On the March 11 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, He won a thrilling Gauntlet match to challenge WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther for his title. The match will occur at WWE WrestleMania 40 in April, but it’s unclear if it will happen on Night One or Two. That said, some fans wanted Chad Gable to have the opportunity instead of Zayn.

As one of the participants in the Gauntlet Match, Gable seemed to have a chance to get his long-awaited rematch with Gunther. However, WWE decided to have Zayn win the Gauntlet and eliminate Gable last in a close matchup.

Although the company has been building up Zayn to challenge for a title, some fans online have responded negatively to their recent decision. The negative backlash seems to have gotten Zayn’s attention as well.

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T shared on his podcast that he spoke to Zayn and wasn’t happy with the negative responses. The former five-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion also revealed what advice he gave to Zayn in their conversation.

“…He was so literally upset about the online heat that he got from fans. He was like, ‘I thought loved me, you know, and then I see all this stuff.’ I said, Man, you can’t listen to that white noise,” said Booker T. He added, “…You have to think about how great that match was, and you are going look back on it match one day and think that was some really really good work that I did, but he still was feeling that heat.”

Fans Wanting Conclusion To Chad Gable’s Storyline

Booker T mentions that it was the match that fans were upset about from the episode. However, it seems more about the decision to have Gable lose the Gauntlet Match.

Gable still has unfinished business with Gunther, and it seems fans won’t get to see it resolved anytime soon. He was involved in a well-received feud with the champion last year. Their previous bout ended with Gunther victorious, but the company left it open for another match. The storyline also became more personal when Gable’s family got involved.

This resulted in fans wanting to see the underdog get his revenge and potentially dethrone the champion on the ‘Grandest Stage of Them All.’ Unfortunately, WWE went a different direction, and Gable’s storyline is still unresolved.

After the match, Gable somberly admitted that he didn’t know what would be next for him. It’s possible the underdog superstar could still be in line to challenge Gunther for the title after WWE WrestleMania 40. However, it does look bleak as Zayn will get his chance at the title first, and the company has other roster members awaiting their opportunity.

Chad Gable Hurting After “Visceral” Raw Loss Robs Him of Family’s Dream at WrestleMania

Chad Gable has shared just how visceral his loss on this week’s Raw has been for him after coming up short in the Intercontinental Title contenders gauntlet match.

The Olympian was part of the six-man match which also featured Ricochet, Bronson Reed, Shinsuke Nakamura, JD McDonagh, and Sami Zayn. The match came down to Gable and Zayn, both of whom have made emotional cases for challenging GUNTHER at WrestleMania. Despite a valiant effort by Gable, Zayn got the win and the title shot at WrestleMania 40.

Chad Gable on His Visceral Loss

In a WWE Raw Digital Exclusive after the match, Gable reflected on last night’s match and this latest setback.

“For those who have never felt something like this, it’s more visceral than I can describe. It’s not coming up short. It’s really letting people down that depend on you in a number of ways. For me this meant a lot more than WrestleMania, a lot more than a championship. It was a very personal, personal thing for me [and] my family.”

Chad Gable on Sami Zayn

After his defeat, Gable and Zayn shared some words in the ring. When asked what Sami said, however, Gable said he wasn’t going to divulge their private conversation.

“For now, that’s going to stay between me and Sami. To be honest, I was less interested in what he had to say and more interested in getting out of the ring.”

Gable acknowledged that was the winner of the match but argued that facing GUNTHER at WrestleMania would always mean more to him than the Canadian.

“I’m a man, willing to say that he [Zayn] was the better man tonight. I don’t think it meant more to him. I don’t think it still means more to him than it does to me but I have no problem showing respect.”

Chad Gable Gets Intense In Compelling New Video Ahead Of WWE Raw

Chad Gable really wanted to show wrestling fans that his potential Intercontinental Championship opportunity does indeed mean more for him.

On WWE Raw, Gable will be one of the six participants competing in a gauntlet match to earn a shot at Gunther and his Intercontinental gold at WrestleMania 40. Gable had his first chance on a September 2023 episode of Raw, but came up short.

However, a fire was lit under him when Gunther made his daughter cry and ever since, Gable has been adamant at facing the unprecedented champion once again. That point was further hammered home on social media over the weekend as Gable posted a new vignette of himself expressing how important Monday’s match is to him.

“I’ve been running the gauntlet in my own head since that match with Gunther last September. Trust me, the only tears you wanna wipe off your child’s face are tears of joy, but if I want that chance, a new gauntlet stands in front of me. “

Gable says the match is full of “demons” of his past but that him going battling those is a chance at redemption for him.

“It’s a rare chance to rewrite history, we don’t get those every day so I intend to claim it and become a beacon of perseverance that my fans and my family can be proud of so I will endure, because for Chad Gable, this match just means more.”

Coming from a storyline perspective, Gable and Sami Zayn are the two stars in the match who have made the greatest case to compete against Gunther at WrestleMania. The other participants in the fight are Ricochet, JD McDonagh, Bronson Reed and Shinsuke Nakamura.
