Chris Jericho Returns to the World of Horror In Terrifier 3 Trailer

Outside the ring, Chris Jericho has held many roles in entertainment, from Dancing with the Stars to leading Fozzy and now the AEW original is returning to the Terrifier film series. On August 28, a new trailer was dropped for Terrifier 3, which will take place five years after the event of the previous film. Jericho appears around halfway through the trailer, though based on the expression on his face, things aren’t going well for the Learning Tree.

Jericho appeared in Terrifier 2, which was released in cinemas in October 2022. For the film, Jericho portrayed a psychiatric hospital nurse called Burke and is reprising the character for the upcoming movie. Terrifier 3 will have its premiere at Fantastic Fest next month and will be released in cinemas on October 11.

Terrifier 3

The new film follows siblings Sienna and Jonathan, who survived the demonic Art the Clown’s Halloween massacre from the previous film in the series. The pair’s efforts to put the past behind them and focus on the approaching holiday season prove impossible when Art returns to unleash his twisted brand of terror on all those unfortunate to come across him.

Chris Jericho And Horror

The first-ever AEW World Champion is no stranger to stepping into the world of horror. One of Jericho’s first feature film roles saw him play Levi in 2009’s Albino Farm, a horror film in which four college students are hunted by cannibals on the titular farm. Unfortunately for Jericho, his first foray into horror was met with negative reviews, and the film has a disappointing 14% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

In April of this year, Jericho was cast in an action-horror film about pro-wrestling, blending two of the 53-year-old entertainer’s passions. Dark Match will tell the story of a small-time wrestling company that accepts a well-paying gig in a remote town only to learn the town falls under a cult leader. In addition to Jericho, the film will star Steven Ogg (The Walking Dead) and Ayisha Issa (Transplant.)

Chris Jericho Has Several Great Reasons To Stay In Wrestling

Chris Jericho has much more TV time he wants to fill before he considers ending his legendary pro wrestling career, regardless of what a vocal group of fans say. The inaugural AEW World Champion is having none of the chatter on social media and at AEW live events that he should retire

“Sting, at 64, retired and everybody is different,” Jericho tells Daily Star. “To me, when the ‘Please retire!’ chants were going, I was laughing because I have zero intentions of that.”

The 53-year-old referenced his ‘six-pack’ abs, his athleticism and decades of experience as reasons why he still needs to funnel young talent into the ‘Jericho Vortex’ for quality time under ‘The Learning Tree.’

“I’ve got a six pack, I can do a moonsault, and I know exactly what I’m doing in the ring,” Jericho said. “I know how to write storylines. I like the company I work for. I like my boss. I like the guys and girls in the company. Why would I want to retire? What’s the point, because someone told me to? F**k off.”

Jericho makes it clear there’s no timetable, and no real reason, for him to wrestle his final match.

“There is no time-limit,” he stated. “It could be this week. It could be five years from now. I don’t know. I just know that as of this moment, I’m having a great time. I love going to work. I love contributing. There is no reason to stop doing that.”

Chris Jericho will wrestle “Dynamite Kid” Tommy Billington on AEW Dynamite tonight from Cardiff, Wales. It’s the ‘go-home’ show before AEW All In this Sunday August 25 from Wembley Stadium in London, England. Jericho will once again pull double duty on AEW’s biggest event of the year. His band Fozzy will perform live at the event for a second consecutive year and he’ll defend his FTW title against HOOK a “Last Chance Match.”

Chris Jericho’s Band Fozzy Will Perform Live At AEW All In (Again)

Chris Jericho’s metal band Fozzy will perform at AEW All In for the second consecutive year.

“We’re going to do that again. To say we’ve played Wembley Stadium twice. It’s a combined 5 minutes. At Wembley, I think any Rock’n Roll band would take that.”

Jericho performed his song ‘Judas’ with Fozzy for his ring entrance before his epic match with Will Ospreay last year at All In in front of over 80,000 fans.

Chris Jericho Talks In-Ring Retirement Plans

AEW star Chris Jericho recently addressed his potential retirement from professional wrestling, stating that he will know when it’s time to hang up his boots.

Appearing on the McGuire on Wrestling podcast, Jericho opened up about retirement from in-ring action, revealing that for now, he hasn’t thought about it.

“I’ll know when it’s time, you know? I’m really enjoying what I’m doing and I’m still contributing at a high level. I can still have the best match on the show on any given night — not every night but any given night. And I just really love what we’re doing with AEW right now. So there’s really no rush on that. And when I know, I’ll know.”

The current FTW Champion is an active member of the AEW roster, leading the stable The Learning Tree. For now, Jericho doesn’t seem like he’s going to stop anytime soon in the ring.

Chris Jericho on John Cena’s Retirement Announcement

Speaking of retirements, one wrestler who is in fact going to retire soon is John Cena, who recently announced his farewell tour.

On the same podcast, Jericho was asked to share his thoughts about Cena’s retirement tour.

“My career is already longer than John Cena’s. No, I mean it’s great. John’s always had a great love for wrestling and he’s got a great connection with the fans, so I think it’s a cool way to go about it.”

Jericho added that fans know this is going to be it for Cena, as he’s not the type to say anything lightly. “I’m sure it’s going to be a really great year-and-a-half for Cena fans and for John Cena himself,” he added.

Cena made his surprise return at WWE Money in the Bank, where he announced his retirement. It is not yet known when and where his final match will take place, but we will see him in action at major events such as Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania.

Chris Jericho Comments On John Cena Announcing His Retirement Tour

Pro wrestling veteran Chris Jericho feels that fans have a great time ahead of them as John Cena announced his farewell tour before hanging up his boots.

Chris Jericho recently made an appearance on McGuire on Wrestling podcast and he was asked to share his insights on Cena’s retirement tour. It was mentioned to the former WWE star that Cena’s retirement means he has outlasted the 16-time World Champion. While Jericho agreed, he reckoned that John Cena always had a great connection with his fans and it’s an amazing way to end his career.

“My career is already longer than John Cena’s. No, I mean it’s great. John’s always had a great love for wrestling and he’s got a great connection with the fans, so I think it’s a cool way to go about it.”

‘The Learning Tree’ is certain that Cena will be focused on ensuring that the retirement plans turn out well and he believes fans will enjoy watching Cena back in the squared circle for his final run. He said:

“People know that this is it, and John’s not the type of guy to say anything lightly, so I’m sure he’s been focused on this and working with the company to make sure it’s right. I’m sure it’s going to be a really great year-and-a-half for Cena fans and for John Cena himself.”

John Cena’s retirement

‘The Leader of Cenation’ made his surprise return during last Saturday’s WWE Money In The Bank PLE at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena. He shocked the fans when he announced that he decided to hang up his boots next year. He didn’t specify when and where he would compete in his final match.

However, he made it clear that next year will be his last time competing at the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania. During the post-show press conference, he further shared details of his upcoming farewell tour.

Wrestling Stars Help Raise Support For Kevin Sullivan Following Medical Emergency

Kevin Sullivan has had a rough journey over the past several weeks and ‘The Taskmaster’ is getting a little help from fans and some major wrestling names.

Unfortunately, Sullivan was involved in a car accident back on May 12 while in Florida for an autograph signing. The aftermath was devastating but the hospital was able to save his leg and his life. However, Sullivan developed sepsis and encephalitis and in turn, has been hospitalized in ICU.

Sullivan has been in and out of conciousness, but ‘The Taskmaster’ keeps fighting on. His insurance plan has been nearly exhausted due to the ongoing expenses and his family has created a GoFundMe to help him and his family afford his recovery.

Not only did fans come out of the woodwork to help Kevin Sullivan, but a lot of big names in the pro wrestling world have too.

Jim Cornette and his wife Stacey donated $5,000 to the cause, Chris Jericho donated $2,500, Scott D’Amore donated $1,500, Cody Rhodes sent Sullivan $1,000 and so did Diamond Dallas Page. Norman Smiley also donated.

The original goal for the GoFundMe was $20,000, but with the help from his colleagues and wrestling fans, the donations are up to over $24,000.

The Sullivan family listed all that the money will go to in helping Kevin and it includes continued hospital expenses, skilled nursing care, acute and subacute occupational and physical therapy, recurring medical expenses and transportation.

You can still donate to Sullivan by going to The GoFundMe page.

We at SEScoops want to wish Kevin Sullivan a very speedy and healthy recovery from this unfortunate situation.

Chris Jericho Believes Wrestling Could Be An Olympic Sport

Chris Jericho believes wrestling should be included as a Olympic sport.

Pro Wrestling has always found itself battling for legitimacy in the broader climate of sports. Those who are not familiar still think of it as a fake performance instead of a scripted art form similar to many performing arts. The AEW star has a great idea to help it attain the respect it deserves.

The former AEW Champion recently appeared on the Blocks Podcast to discuss things such as what it means to be an entertainer, how long he will continue performing and more.

During the interview, Jericho floated a very interesting idea, suggesting that pro wrestling could be included in Olympics similar to any other sport that is judged on points:

“I’ve started to really think about how pro wrestling could easily be an Olympic sport, because it’s a athletic display between two people, much like figure skating or synchronized swimming or anything else that’s judged on points.”

Chris Jericho Explains How Wrestling In Olympics Would Work

Chris Jericho explained that wrestlers from different countries can put together matches to the best of their abilities. They can then be judged on their performances instead of the outcome of the match:

“Think about that. So let’s say I’m from Canada. Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, best wrestlers from Canada. We put together our routine, and then you got you know, Will Ospreay and Michael Oku from England. They put together their routine.

Then you got you know Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, from the United States putting together their routine. Then the judges would say, ‘Okay, this was the best,’ It doesn’t matter who wins or loses. Like figure skating.”

The 2024 Summer Olympics, branded as Paris Olympics 2024 is set to begin later this month in France. The opening ceremony will be taking place on July 26 with some competitions starting as early as July 24. The 2024 edition will notably feature the debut of breakdancing as an Olympic event.

Apart from this, The Learning Tree also talked about things such as his start in wrestling, the backstage politics he had to deal with in 90s, and how things have changed since then.

Chris Jericho Replaced On AEW Rampage Commentary Team

Chris Jericho has taken on many roles in AEW. He is a former World Champion, Wizard, and currently the Learning Tree. However, he is stepping down from his commentary duties.

AEW has named Jericho’s replacement: Matt Menard, Jericho’s former Jericho Appreciation Society teammate, will take over commentary on AEW Rampage.

Author and podcast host Pat Laprade announced the news via X on Saturday. Menard has experience in commentary, having worked on AEW Dark and Dark Elevation. This led to occasional Rampage appearances when Jericho was unavailable.

On Friday’s Rampage, Jericho revealed his decision to leave commentary. He wants to focus more on appearing on Dynamite and Collision. Jericho will still carry on in his Learning Tree gimmick alongside Big Bill and Bryan Keith.

Matt Menard’s Commentary Experience

Menard, previously known as Matt Lee in WWE’s NXT brand, signed with AEW in August 2021 with his partner Angelo Parker. They joined forces with Daniel Garcia and eventually became part of Jericho’s faction. Together, they competed in the first-ever Anarchy in the Arena match and a Blood & Guts match in 2022.

Since the faction dissolved, Menard has wrestled infrequently, with just six matches this year. His last match was a win over Mike Bennett in Ring of Honor in early May. Parker has been off following his recent marriage to Ruby Soho. Now, Menard has a spot on television every week, and he gets to stay out of action in the process.

Skid Row’s Sebastian Bach: ‘I’m Just As Much a Wrestler As Chris Jericho Is A Singer’

Sebastian Bach, the frontman for legendary heavy metal band Skid Row, has taken aim at Chris Jericho’s singing in a response to the AEW star.

Since 2020, Bach has taken aim at Jericho for allegedly using pre-recorded tracks while singing for the AEW star’s band ‘Fozzy.’ In response, Jericho has challenged Bach to a sing-off. When asked by Metal Hammer Magazine whether he plans on accepting Jericho’s challenge, Bach, who has no wrestling experience, once again took aim at Fozzy’s leading man.

“The better question would be, will he do a wrestle-off with Sebastian Bach? Because I’m as much of a wrestler as he is a singer.”

Bach doesn’t hold back with his view on Chris Jericho.

Chris Jericho: The Singer

While Bach is no fan of Jericho’s vocals, Fozzy has had more than its fair share of success. Jericho has been named one of heavy metal’s top 50 singers though squeaked into the rankings at the #50 spot. Bach fared far better in the rank and reached the #8 spot.

Jericho’s work with Fozzy has bled over into his role as a professional wrestler. In 2005, the band’s track Enemy was the theme song for that year’s WWE No Way Out pay-per-view. That same year, Fozzy would perform on Raw in a ‘Battle of the Bands’ with John Cena, stemming from Jericho’s feud with the then-WWE Champion.

In AEW, Jericho has (until recently) used Enemy as his theme song which fans have been happy to sing along to. Jericho performed the track live with Fozzy at AEW All In as seen in the clip above. While Sebastian Bach may not be a fan of Jericho’s singing, his lengthy career with Fozzy has clearly worked out well for the FTW Champion.

Chris Jericho: ‘Becky Lynch Has An Option in AEW, Who Knows What Could Happen?’

Chris Jericho can’t say for sure whether Becky Lynch will soon be ‘All-Elite’ but is pleased that there’s a viable alternative for the departing WWE Superstar.

Lynch’s contract with WWE is set to expire within a matter of days and while talks are ongoing, a deal is not expected to be reached. On this week’s Raw, Lynch unsuccessfully challenged WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan in the show’s main event. Lynch was visibly emotional after the show as she waved to the fans, which some have taken as a sign that ‘The Man’ is leaving WWE.

Watch: Becky Lynch Waves Goodbye to WWE Fans After Raw

Chris Jericho On Becky Lynch

Once she becomes a free agent, it’s virtually guaranteed that Lynch will receive offers with a deal likely from AEW. Speaking to TMZ Sports, Chris Jericho was asked about Lynch and was pleased that ‘The Man’ has an option.

“Five years ago, Becky would have no other options. [I’m] not saying that she’s coming but there is an option and who knows what could happen? No one thought that Jericho would come to AEW. No one thought that Moxley would come or Bryan Danielson or Adam Cole or any of these guys that have come over. So it’s exciting for the fans. It’s exciting for the wrestlers, the talent, because now suddenly if there’s a bidding war that just benefits us. So I think it’s it’s very important.”

Becky Lynch’s Future

Lynch has been telling those in WWE that she does not plan on joining AEW imminently. The former Women’s Champion is expected to take a break from wrestling for the time being. Despite this, WWE sources are confident a new deal will be reached when the time is right. Whatever comes next, fans will remain intrigued to see what the highly popular WWE Superstar does next.

Chris Jericho: I Take Great Pride In Making People Angry

Chris Jericho doesn’t mind the hate he is getting from fans and believes that it’s the beauty of wrestling.

The Learning Tree recently had an interview with KCAL News to promote tonight’s Dynamite episode from Kia Forum in LA. He discussed things such as the reasons behind the recent growth in the popularity of wrestling.

During the interview, Jericho also talked about the latest evolution of his character. The former AEW Champion was asked how he feels about the heat he has been getting recently, and Chris said that it’s amazing:

“It’s amazing. When you have been in the business as long as I have, 33 years, you always wanna evolve and revamp your character. Kind of get some diversity with what you’re doing so I think reestablishing myself under this Leaning Tree, it gives you a new vibe, reinvigorates you, and keeps things fresh and fun.”

It’s The Beauty of Wrestling: Chris Jericho

Later in the interview, Chris Jericho proclaimed that character and stories are the most important things in the business. Fans will always come to see the show if you can connect with the people. When asked how he interacts with the fans, the wrestling veteran said that it’s very important to read the room:

“The one thing about wrestling is and it’s very important is you have to understand the concepts of being a good guy and when it starts getting stale, of being a bad guy. It’s kind of like when people say ‘It’s like a soap opera.’ In that way, it is a soap opera. You’re a good guy and then suddenly something happens and then you don’t like ’em for a while. You have to be able to read the room on that and know when people hate you.

People are really not liking me right now so it’s time to kind of change. And that’s ok, that’s the beauty of wrestling, you can just lean into it. I take great pride in kind of making people angry with things cause that’s what you want to do. You’re playing a character. When Chris Jericho comes on screen in AEW, it’s different from the Chris Jericho you’re talking to right now. That’s the way it should be. A larger-than-life character is kind of what wrestling is all about and I embrace that wholly.”

Chris Jericho successfully defended his FTW Championship at the Double or Nothing PPV this past Sunday. He will be debuting a new talk show dubbed ‘TV Time’ at this Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite.

Chris Jericho Explains Wrestling’s Renewed Popularity

Wrestling has seen unprecedented growth in popularity in the past few years and the sport has started getting regular mainstream attention once again. This new era has been dubbed as the ‘Renaissance Era’ and Chris Jericho believes the live presentation of it is a big reason for it.

The Learning Tree recently appeared on KCAL News to promote this Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite from Kia Forum in LA.

During the interview, the FTW Champion was asked about the renewed popularity of wrestling in recent times. Chris Jericho explained that the live presentation is a big reason for it alongside good stories and characters:

It’s Live Sports: Chris Jericho

“It’s the characters and it’s the stories. It’s live sports. In this day and age, it’s kind of the most valuable entity. It’s the one thing people still watch and don’t stream. You mentioned the NBA playoffs, the NHL playoffs or AEW Dynamite – it’s live, it’s happening right here, right now. So you want to be a part of it. You don’t wanna really go watch it the next day when you find out what’s gonna happen.

I think that keeps it very valuable. But wrestling’s always been about characters and about engaging people with stories. If you can connect with the fans then you’ll always interest them and they’ll always wanna come be a part of what you’re doing, come see and watch you.”

Chris Jericho successfully defended the FTW title in a triple-threat match against Hook and Katsuyori Shibata at Sunday’s Double or Nothing PPV.

The wrestling veteran has been announced for an appearance on this week’s Dynamite. He will be hosting a talk show dubbed as ‘TV Time With The Learning Tree’ on the episode.

The House of Dragon themed episode will also feature a singles match between the AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland and Killswitch as well as a Casino Gauntlet Match to determine the challenger for the AEW World Title at the upcoming Forbidden Door PPV.

Chris Jericho Expected ‘Please Retire’ Reaction From Crowd At AEW Dynasty

Chris Jericho may be one of wrestling’s most popular stars, but he wasn’t surprised by the hostile response he received at the AEW Dynasty pay-per-view.

While Jericho, a heel, was supposed to receive a negative response, the chants from the crowd in St. Louis went much further than a typical reaction. Throughout the match, the crowd hurled “Please retire!” and “Go home, Jericho, go home!” chants at the veteran who has been with AEW since the very start. The St. Louis crowd also loudly booed when he defeated HOOK to capture the FTW Championship.

Jericho Sees Things Coming

Many fans watching at home were taken aback by the negative response to Jericho’s presence at the show, but Chris himself wasn’t shocked, Fightful Select reports. According to those close to the current FTW Champion, the crowd reaction during the match was almost identical to the way he described it to them ahead of time.

Chris Jericho predicted the highly hostile reaction.

AEW Dynasty is not the first time that the crowd have severely turned on Jericho. In the days prior to AEW Worlds End, it was alleged that Jericho had been inappropriate years earlier with Kylie Rae, with some believing an incident between the two would explain Rae’s abrupt exit from AEW in 2019. In response, fans chanted “Kylie Rae” and “NDA” at Jericho during his tag-team match on the show. After the event, Tony Khan said he would not speak on unverified rumors.

What’s to Come?

Since capturing the FTW Championship, Jericho has formed an alliance with Big Bill that has ended Bill’s previous tag team with Ricky Starks. On the most recent AEW Collision, HOOK defeated Johnny TV in an FTW Title Contenders Series match.

Big Bill’s New Alliance with Chris Jericho Marks the End of Ricky Starks Partnership

Big Bill’s new pairing with former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho signifies the end of his previous partnership with Ricky Starks. We’ve seen wrestlers teaming with multiple tag partners and being part of multiple ongoing storylines, but that won’t be the case here. Fightful Select reports Bill and Starks have officially parted ways and there are no plans for the former AEW tag champs to work together on television. After reaching the top of the mountain together, they’ve decided to go their separate ways.

Chris Jericho and Big Bill in AEW

While Big Bill is sitting under the Learning Tree, Starks is out of action recovering from a leg injury. That process is never fun, but he let his social media followers know he’s doing just fine while off the road.

Big Bill in AEW

Big Bill has gone through a lot since his WWE release, and it was well-documented. He has also spoken candidly about overcoming those struggles.

After a run in the NWA and Impact Wrestling, AEW opened their doors to the former Realest Guy in the Room.

Big Bill made his AEW debut on May 4, 2022, as MJF’s pick to face Wardlow in a storyline for their Double or Nothing match. Although Bill lost that debut match to the Warddog, he wasn’t finished in Tony Khan’s company. By August, the 37-year-old signed with AEW, initially as part of Stokely Hathaway’s stable, The Firm.

In August 2023, Big Bill teamed up with Ricky Starks, who managed him after obtaining a manager’s license. They won the AEW World Tag Team Championship from FTR on October 7 and held it for 123 days before losing it to Sting and Darby Allin.

On April 24, 2024, Big Bill told FTW Champion Chris Jericho he wanted to join his Learning Tree. After assisting Jericho in a match, Jericho welcomed him into the group a week later. All signs point to the fact that Bill’s stories in AEW are far from over.

Chris Jericho Reveals The Idea Behind New ‘Learning Tree’ Gimmick

Chris Jericho is focused on storylines and characters which he believes are the major aspects of pro wrestling.

The former AEW World Champion has portrayed several interesting gimmicks during his illustrious career, the latest being ‘The Learning Tree.’ Chris Jericho recently joined the Kevin Karius Show to outline the significance of evolving gimmicks over time. The 53-year-old veteran said that the matches are important but the stories and characters draw the attention of the fans which remains  “the most important aspect” to him. He said:

“I just started doing this Learning Tree gimmick a few weeks ago. That’s the best thing about wrestling, when people start to get mad at you, you turn into a bad guy and when people like you, you turn into a good guy. This is the start of this whole new persona as we continue the story. That’s the most important thing about wrestling, the story. The matches are important, but the characters and the storylines are what really draws people into watching you and draws people into following what you’re doing. To me, that’s always been the most important thing.”

‘The Learning Tree’

Chris Jericho further explained that ‘The Learning Tree’ gimmick is based on the role of a teacher. Being a seasoned veteran of the game and with extensive pro wrestling knowledge, Jericho’s persona is a reflection of his real life. He aims to teach and guide the up-and-coming AEW stars. However, he possesses heel traits as he gets people “mad,” given the fact that he is a treasure of knowledge. He explained:

“The teacher. I’ve been doing this for a long time. I thought, what’s a cool way to personify that and make people mad? I’ve been doing this at a high level, I thought, I’ll adopt this persona of being the seasoned vet that teaches the rookies the ways of the game. That’s how it started, and the way we’ve portrayed it, people get really mad at me for it. That’s what you want. By being the seasoned vet who knows everything, that makes people mad at me. That’s wrestling for you.”

The Canadian legend had wanted to take Hook under his wing which the latter rejected. ‘The Learning Tree’ dethroned Hook and captured the FTW Championship. However, the veteran got ‘Go-away heat’ after the title win. On last week’s Dynamite, Jericho retained his title against Katsuyori Shibata.

AEW star Big Bill has been trying to learn from the veteran star, who agreed on last week’s Rampage. It has been announced that Chris Jericho will join forces with Big Bill on tonight’s AEW Dynamite.

Jericho is not only enjoying his title run but he is also gearing up for an acting role in an upcoming action horror movie. Read more below:

Chris Jericho to Star in Action-Horror Film ‘Dark Match’ Set in 1980s Pro Wrestling

AEW’s Chris Jericho is preparing to lead a new action horror film set in the colorful and chaotic world of professional wrestling in the 1980s.

Dark Match‘ will tell the story of a small-time wrestling company that accepts a well-paying gig in a remote town only to learn the town falls under a cult leader, Variety reports. Soon enough, the wrestlers and crew are in a very real fight for their lives. In addition to Jericho, the film will star Steven Ogg (The Walking Dead) and Ayisha Issa (Transplant.)

Lowell Dean (Wolfcop) is attached as writer and director. Dark Match will launch later this year with a festival premiere set to be announced, Blue Finch Films, the project’s distribution outfit, will begin sales at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

Dark Match will mark the latest big-screen role for Jericho. Jericho’s first foray into horror came in 2009’s Albino Farm and he would also be a part of 2022’s horror-comedy KillRoy Was Here. That same year, Jericho played ‘Burke’ in Terrifier 2 and will reprise the role in the sequel set to premiere later this year.

Wrestlers On the Big Screen

Here are some recent articles regarding some of wrestling’s top stars and the silver-screen plans in the works:

Chris Jericho Thanks Terry Funk, Renames The FTW Title

Get ready for a whole new learning experience courtesy of Chris Jericho.

The pro wrestling legend defeated HOOK for the FTW Championship at AEW Dynasty on Sunday and had some words of wisdom for the live crowd in Jacksonville, FL on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

All with a somewhat patronizing tongue, Jericho took to the ring to thank the fans for the love and support following his victory and spoke about the controversial meaning behind the letters “FTW.” Instead of the title standing for “F*** The World” he wants FTW to mean “For The World” because the championship now for all the fans.

Jericho then brought up the name of the late legendary Terry Funk and recounted when Funk told him it was time for him to start teaching the next generation of how to carry on the legacy of the pro wrestling business. He then thanked Terry Funk and thanked everyone in attendance.

Suddenly, out came former AEW World Tag Team Champion in Big Bill. What first felt like it was going to be a tense confrontation, Bill actually said that he’d love to learn under the learning tree of Chris Jericho. Chris noted that he respected the talent of Big Bill and told him that he’d very much consider that, but would like to see Bill prove it. Bill assured Jericho that he would do just that.

It’s serendipitous that Jericho did conjure up the name of Terry Funk. Back in 2019, Jericho was asked about being the modern-day version of Funk, who was notorious for always re-inventing himself later on in his career which helped to put ECW on the map.

“My mission has always been to reinvent and evolve. It’s David Bowie. It’s been one of my inspirations since I was 25 years old, when you realize that you have this guy that’s a genius and who constantly changes what he’s doing, what he looks like to keep the fans guessing.”

Chris Jericho Will Have A Challenger Next Week

Jericho will have a tough contender to go up against next week in his hometown of Winnipeg. Later during Dynamite, Katsuyori Shibata ending up revealing that he’ll face Jericho next week for that “For The World” Championship gold.

Chris Jericho Calls Swerve Strickland “The Right Guy For The Job”

Swerve Strickland is not only an AEW first, but he also joins an “elite” club that includes Chris Jericho.

During AEW Dynasty on Sunday, Strickland defeated Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship, making him the first African-American World Champion in the company’s history and it certainly marked for a celebatory occassion.

Footage was taken of Swerve having dinner with his AEW co-horts following his historic win and Chris Jericho took some time to honor Strickland, noting that he saw Swerve’s star power right off the bat of entering AEW. Not only that, but Jericho made note  of the creative efforts that Swerve makes in and out of the wrestling ring. He then made clear that Strickland is the right man to currently hold the gold, something that only eight people have done since the inception of All Elite Wrestling.

“We don’t change the titles to the World Title very often unless it’s the absolue right guy. He is the right guy for the job, he’s got the cool X-factor and if I was the big wig in AEW (like I am), I would put you on every other fucking talk show, I’d promote you in every single way because you have what we need which is the ability to cross over in the mainstream and I’m super proud of you, man. I knew you had it since day one.”

Jericho happened to be the first-ever AEW World Champion and is in the thick of a feud with HOOK after defeating Taz’s son for the FTW Championship at Dynasty.

Chris Jericho Got ‘Go-Away Heat’ In His FTW Title Win At AEW Dynasty

Chris Jericho used to be a massive babyface in AEW, with fans singing Fozzy’s “Judas” at the top of their lungs as he made his way to the ring every week. Things certainly changed at Dynasty, because Lionheart got some go away heat.

Hook put the FTW Title on the line against Chris Jericho at AEW Dynasty. The Saint Louis crowd was very passionate, and against Jericho as he won the championship from Taz’s son.

During the AEW pay-per-view, fans directed chants at Chris Jericho, including “Fozzy Sucks,” “Go home, Jericho. Go Home,” and “Please retire.” This was very loud and also quite noticeable on camera.

Jericho’s Recent Controversy

In late December, allegations surfaced involving Chris Jericho and Kylie Rae. It was alleged that an incident with Jericho led to Rae requesting her release from AEW.

Chris Jericho was called out for having people sign NDAs himself, which led to these allegations coming out. A tweet was posted talking about women who are waiting until it’s safe to speak about Chris Jericho. Kylie Rae reacted to it, as she posted a heart emoji.

Chris Jericho was hit with “NDA” and “Kylie Rae” chants at the Worlds End pay-per-view, so he should be used to the negative attention from fans at this point.

Chris Jericho Makes His Offer To HOOK

Chris Jericho ended up making his offer to HOOK and the proposal could be a learning experience for both fighters.

During the 3/27 episode of AEW Dynamite, a backstage segment featured both HOOK and Jericho being interviewed by Renee Paquette. There Jericho reiterated how impressed he was with HOOK’s work in the ring as he and Renee both said that HOOK defeating Jericho last week on Dynamite was the biggest of his career.

Jericho then mentioned in his 33 years of pro wrestling he never managed anybody in his life, but he was so impressed with HOOK’s work in the ring that he’d be willing to give Taz’s son any advice at reaching that next level of super stardom. Jericho even said that he sees a future AEW World Champion in HOOK.

HOOK appreciated Jericho’s offer, but did say he knows who Jericho is, meaning he’s aware of his track record. All that considered, he’d love to take advice from Jericho because he is Chris Jericho. Jericho agreed and the two fist-bumped.

The FTW Champion did put on quite a showing against Jericho as he basically took ‘Lionheart’ to suplex city before he ultimately secured the win via pinfall, which happened to be HOOK’s first pinfall win in AEW.

Jericho won’t be the first wrestling legend to take HOOK under his wing. Obviously being the son of Taz, HOOK had an early tutelage when it comes to the squared circle, but he also received the experience of teaming with Rob Van Dam in AEW.

Chris Jericho Issues A Challenge For 3/20 AEW Dynamite

Chris Jericho is back to his Lionheart ways and has taken HOOK under his wing. After the duo picked up a victory on this week’s AEW Big Business special, All Elite Wrestling’s first World Champion laid down a challenge to his partner for a singles match next week on AEW Dynamite.

Jericho & Hook Victorious at Big Business

Jericho and HOOK seemed to compliment one another well in the ring and that was made clear in the finish as the two isolated Bishop Kaun. HOOK attempted to lock Kaun in the Red Rum and Jericho slid in to put him in the Walls of Jericho.

When Toa Loa went for the save, Jericho gave him a springboard dropkick and HOOK cinched in the Red Rum for the submission win.

LionHOOK Explodes Next Week

Paquette caught up with Jericho and Hook backstage after their hard-earned W. She dubbed them LionHOOK, which Jericho loved.

Jericho said the Gates of Agony were no joke, but Hook showed him he’s got ‘future world champion’ potential. He likes what he’s seen from hook when they’re on the same team, but wants to see what Hook is made of when they’re on opposite sides of the ring.

HOOK fist-bumped Jericho and agreed to the challenge, which was made official later in the show.

Chris Jericho vs. Hook will take place on the March 20 edition of AEW Dynamite from Toronto.

HOOK is no stranger to teaming with wrestling legends. Prior to his pairing with Jericho, the 24-year-old former lacrosse payer teamed with Rob Van Dam on several occasions.

AEW Suspension Fallout: Additional Ramifications Arise After Sammy Guevara’s Punishment

AEW laid down a suspension for Sammy Guevara when after his botches top rope move on Jeff Hardy went viral. Hardy was injured, and there is a lot to unpack now.

Guevara had plans in place for him in AEW, but that didn’t matter once this incident took place. Now, he is waiting on the sidelines, and that also leaves Chris Jericho without a partner.

The Spanish God’s Suspension

Sammy Guevara’s suspension stemmed from an incident during a match on February 14, where Guevara accidentally broke Jeff Hardy’s nose with a knee strike. Despite Hardy not suffering a concussion, the match continued, contrary to proper protocol, leading to Guevara’s suspension.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the intricacies surrounding a proposed tag team involving Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega, which ultimately didn’t materialize. Omega was taken out of action thanks to diverticulitis, and then Jericho went back to Sammy Guevara as his partner.

Meltzer explained how the plan evolved to include Jericho teaming with Sammy Guevara for a tournament, only for it to be trashed by Guevara’s suspension.

Meltzer noted the dissatisfaction regarding the handling of the situation, emphasizing that medical professionals should have intervened to stop the match rather than leaving it to Guevara. Consequently, the partnership between Jericho and Guevara was abandoned, leaving Jericho to potentially team up with Hook instead.

“In this situation, the doctors should’ve stopped the match, and it should not have been up to Sammy Guevara to take it home. And again, like what he was told, I mean, I guess whatever it was, the fact he did a GT H and nailed the guy with the knee after the concern of concussion was one of the reasons why it went the way it didn’t end up suspended. So anyway, yeah, so that was the deal with the Jericho and Guevara team is now out the window. So I guess it’s going to be Jericho and Hook.”

What’s Next

We will have to see how long Sammy Guevara’s suspension lasts. Since the length of Guevara’s time away from AEW is unclear, we will have to keep a close eye for his return.

Jeff Hardy is trying to get cleared for an in-ring return. His brother, Matt Hardy, commented to say that this will be a slow process.

On another note, Matt’s AEW contract is set to expire soon. The Hardys were supposed to have contracts that ran out at the same time, but Jeff Hardy’s breaks from the company caused Tony Khan to pause his deal.

SEScoops will have more on this story as additional details are made available.
