Luke Harper On His First Interaction With Vince, Breaking In To WWE

Wyatt Family member Luke Harper was Chris Jericho’s guest on the most recent installment of the Talk is Jericho podcast. You can listen to the full interview over at PodcastOne.com.

Harper spoke about a number of topics, including his previous career as a librarian, his time wrestling on the independent scene, The Wyatt Family, his beard and much more. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Almost Missing The Chance To Work For WWE:

“Two days after I had my child in January [2011], I got called by Johnny Ace. And the other best part about that is that I missed his call because I was in the hospital, so he left a message, his number cuts out. So I instantly called Claudio Castagnoli [Cesaro] to say, ‘Please tell me you have Johnny Ace’s number’ and he said, ‘Yeah, here it is right here.'”

Cesaro, Rollins & Ambrose Vouching For Him at FCW:

“I was told again [WWE] were looking for guys over six foot whatever that could work. And so Claudio Castagnoli was down there, Tyler Black who is now Seth Rollins, and Jon Moxley who is Dean Ambrose, kind of all were close to Joey and said, ‘hey, there’s a kid out there that’, I use the term, ‘kid’, loosely, ‘there’s a guy out there who can work and is tall and whatever and no one’s ever called him.'”

His First Interaction With Vince McMahon:

“My first real one was, we started doing the Uso feud like maybe a year into our thing. And I don’t know if it was the two out of three falls match or the one before at Money In The Bank, where we killed it. And we came to the back and he stood up and he hugged each one of us and he goes, ‘you go to that locker room and you tell these motherf–kers to follow that!'”

Jim Ross On WWE’s Medical Care, The Undertaker’s Retirement, And More

Former WWE commentator Jim Ross recently updated the Q&A section of his popular website JR’s BBQ and addressed a number of fresh topics.

The WWE Hall of Famer was asked by one user regarding WWE’s medical team and whether or not they provide support for their employees on an emotional level.

“WWE offers the best medical care for their performers in the world and I’d assume that would also include counseling if needed as well. No other company remotely comes close to caring or their talents as WWE does.”

Another user had a question regarding the future of The Undertaker and whether not his recent activity could mean that he’s hinting at retirement.

“I could see Taker working a part time schedule similar to Lesnar’s until his health won’t permit it but it seems as if the Deadman is in great shape at this time.”

The Q&A continued with JR being asked by another user about WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and his recent use of power moves.

“Rollins is using today’s hot moves or trends that many fans seem to like which will help him when he turns ‘face. How’s he’s booked is subjective to say the very least. What’s right and what’s wrong in the fictional world of pro wrestling is totally up to the viewer. Your opinion is just as valid as mine.”

Another user brought up Chris Jericho’s booking at WWE Night of Champions as the mystery partner to join Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns to take on The Wyatt Family.

“I like Jericho’s booking and think that he can help make Reigns better. Sting did great especially at 56 years of age and I was proud of him.”

WWE is cracking down on fans who jump the ringside gates and insert themselves into the show. The latest incident took place at Sunday’s Night of Champions pay-per-view, with Oscar Ramirez of Houston, TX  entering the ring and standing next to Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns.

WWE pressed charges and Ramirez will spend 10 days in jail after pleading guilty to criminal trespass of a property or building with no forced entry.

Chris Jericho tweeted the following about the incident:

Details On WWE’s Plan To Prevent Future Incidents With Fans Jumping Guard Rails

As seen at WWE Night Of Champions on Sunday night, a fan jumped the guard rail and hit the ring just before the start of the Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho vs. The Wyatt Family six man tag-team match.

As noted late last night, WWE issued the following statement regarding the fan incident after the show:

“WWE takes the safety of our performers very seriously and any fan entering the ring area will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

According to PWInsider.com, due to the recent string of fan incidents, WWE is reportedly looking to pursue the most stringent prosecution possible for all future fan incidents.

WWE generally issues lifetime bans to fans who jump the guard rail at events, however if WWE pursues criminal charges for these incidents in the future, the feeling is it will decrease the amount of repeat incidents.
