Christian Suffers Leg Injury At House Show In Brussels, Belgium

Christian reportedly suffered a leg injury at Wednesday’s SmackDown live event in Brussels, Belgium.

Christian hit the mat early in his bout against Sheamus holding either his knee or ankle. After consulting with the referee, he stood up on one leg to receive the Brogue Kick and was subsequently pinned. He was then assisted to the backstage area by personnel.

Following the brief match, Sheamus talked to fans at ringside, signed autographs and posed for pictures.

SEScoops.com reader Joreon, who was at the Brussels show, sent int he following report regarding the Christian situation:

“I attended tonight’s Smackdown house show in Brussels, Belgium and we witnessed a possible legitimate injury to Christian in his match with Sheamus. I did not see what caused it but very early on in the match Christian was down holding either his knee or ankle. After shortly consulting with the referee he got up on one leg, took Sheamus finisher while standing on one leg, was pinned and then had to be helped to back by the ref and another guy which I assume was a trainer. The match was cut way short because of this and it seemed like Sheamus tried to make up for it by staying longer then usual after the match talking to fans at ringside and signing autographs and taking pictures.

Melina Says WWE Is To Blame For Killing John Morrison’s Career

Following Monday’s Raw in which John Morrison was defeated by Christian in approximately a minute and subsequently assaulted by Dolph Ziggler, Christian and Jack Swagger, a man wrote to Melina on Twitter accusing her of killing his WWE career.

He wrote, “Will you stand trial for killing your bf’s career? #prayforJoMo.”

The former WWE Diva responded via private message, “The WWE did it. I never did anything but stand by him through thick & thin. We should all be so lucky as to have someone like that in our lives.

“John worked his ass off and did EVERYTHING he was told. The blame shouldn’t be put on me. Blame the WWE.”

Many internally believe that Morrison will soon part ways with WWE. Company personnel speculated to Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer that while Morrison has not upset management, he, like Drew McIntyre, is paying the price for his significant other’s actions.

Former WWE Diva Maria Kanellis made similar allegations during last week’s Raw discussion show for AfterBuzzTV.com after co-host Lilian Garcia pondered why McIntyre and Morrison are not receiving greater pushes.

Maria said of McIntyre, “I have a feeling he’s paid for someone else’s sins, problems, because Drew’s really good. I’d love to see him do more stuff, but it’s unfortunate that that happens.”

Maria then said of Morrison, “I think it’s a lot of complications of outside stuff. I think that a lot of times they go with who’s going to be there, who’s always going to be there, who’s going to be the easiest. He’s very easy and I love him to pieces, but I think it’s outside complications. I think that’s why.”

Stone Cold Says Del Rio & Orton Need To Work On Their Promos

Steve Austin spoke to Power Slam to promote his latest movie, Tactical Force. The discussion turns to present-day WWE and he is asked to name which wrestlers he believes can evolve into “money-drawing players” for the sports-entertainment organization. CM Punk heads the top of the list.

“Well, I love CM Punk. That guy is already a star, and he’s just breathed a much-needed breath of fresh air into the wrestling business,” Austin said. “He’s been working for over ten years. I’m a big fan of his—love his skills, love his promos.”

The WWE Hall of Famer then mentions Wade Barrett, Daniel Bryan and the current Superstar most often compared to him, Randy Orton. Austin, however, feels “The Viper” still needs to work on his character and promo ability.

“Of the other guys, I’m still waiting for Wade Barrett to grab me by the throat and let me know who Wade Barrett is. Daniel Bryan could continue to move up the card,” Austin said. “I’m interested to see where Randy Orton goes next. His promos need work, and right now, he’s a little one-dimensional. The crowds are digging him, but there’s still another step on the ladder for him to climb to.

Austin also feels that Alberto Del Rio needs to work on his promos.

“Alberto Del Rio reminds me of Gino Hernandez from the old [Dallas] Sportatorium. [He is] another one who needs to work on his promos-I don’t like them worth a shit right now-but he has great ability,” said Stone Cold.

“He just needs to add a few pieces to the puzzle.”

Austin is also high on two SmackDown talents, including the newly crowned World Heavyweight Champion.

“Christian is a hell of a performer in the ring, and he’s just had a hell of a run. He’s recently added a few exclamation points to his work and his promo style-but, again, there’s at least one more level for him to step up,” he feels.

“Mark Henry has finally put the pieces together. His Money in the Bank match with Big Show was not a great match in the ring. But I love the intensity Mark is putting into his work recently. This persona is really an extension of himself: he’s a big, mean, strong man, and they are presenting that well.”

Christian On Whether He Feels Overlooked, Edge’s Retirement

In the latest issue of WWE Magazine, World Heavyweight Champion Christian opens up on Edge telling him had to retire, why he doesn’t mind being overlooked, how his body is holding up these days, and more.

Christian recalls his conversation with Edge telling him he would be quitting wrestling.

“He told me as soon as he got the news,” Christian said. “I did what any friend would, and tried to comfort him. It’s hard when you’re at the level he is and you’ve done the things he has done, and it’s not your choice to walk away. Ultimately, you want to be the one to say, “OK—it’s time to hang it up.” I think that’s what troubled him the most.

“But I kept positive and told him he did do things on his own terms. His final match was at WrestleMania XXVII in front of 70,000 people. He walked to the ring as the World Champion and walked out as World Champion. I don’t think there’s a better way he could have ended his story than that.”

WWE Magazine notes that Christian is one of remaining talents from the ’90s. He is asked whether he sees himself as a veteran or a rookie.

“I’m definitely a veteran. No question,” he replied. “And it always makes me laugh when the younger guys tell me they remember where they were when I contested a certain match. It makes me feel old, but it’s cool to hear that. Honestly, veteran or not, I feel better now than ever. My body’s holding up, I feel good physically and mentally. If anything, Edge’s departure has inspired me to work harder. It’s opened my eyes and made me realize that, hey, this thing could end at any second. Stop wasting time. If you’re going to do it, you’re going to do it now.

Christian was also asked about the widespread belief that he doesn’t get enough respect for all that he’s done for WWE.

“It’s funny, I do think I’ve been somewhat overlooked, but I’ve always viewed that as a challenge. Everyone else seems to get more upset about it than I do,” Christian said. “I never doubted that my talent would shine through in the end, no matter what. I believe I am one of the best and I work to prove that every night I go out there. The question has always been, “Will my time ever come?” It’s always been, “When will it come?”

“Edge moved on and won many titles, but you can’t compare us. We are two different people with two different paths. I never asked why I didn’t get what he did; I looked at it as, “What can I do to step up and make myself better?” And every night, I go out into the arena thinking, “Tonight, they’re going to know how good I am.”
