Chuck Taylor’s Career-Ending Injury Reportedly Legitimate

We may indeed never see Chuck Taylor wrestle again, according to a new report.

Dave Meltzer has written in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that when AEW stated Chuck Taylor will never compete in the ring again, this is reportedly true.

Taylor was taken out by Trent Berreta several weeks ago who hadnotoriously turned heel against The Best Friends as he has had an axe to grind against Orange Cassidy. This eventually boiled over into Beretta’s relationship against Taylor as he made Chuck pick between him and Orange Cassidy.

Taylor sided with Cassidy and this eventually turned into a parking lot fight between Beretta and him. Beretta got the win, but still decided to inflict more pain on “The Kentucky Gentleman” by taking a wrench to his leg. This set up the on-air angle that Taylor’s career was done.

Before his perhaps final match, Taylor has been out on the shelf with injury but did have a previous major injury in a pectoral muscle tear. This put him in an angle with Miro as Taylor served as his “servant” for the time being. He then later suffered another injury with his foot after his ALL IN Stadium Stampede match.

Taylor and Beretta have been with All Elite Wrestling since the very beginning as they were surprise signings at the AEW Double Or Nothing Ticket Announcement Party in 2019. They actually defeated Jack Evans and Angelico at the promotion’s inaugural PPV that following Memorial Day weekend. Beretta just lost to Cassidy in a match on this week’s AEW Dynamite.

Trent Beretta Gets Admonished By Mama Sue Following Recent Actions Against The Best Friends

Trent Beretta’s mom Sue will not be carpooling The Best Friends to any AEW events in the near future, and she’s clearly not happy about it.

Beretta took on his longtime partner and (indeed) former best friend Chuck Taylor in a Parking Lot Fight this past weekend on AEW Rampage. It was a brutal battle with Berretta ultimately defeating Taylor, but also not coming out of the fight unscathed.

On social media, Beretta had a bloody picture of himself sitting on the hood of what appears to be his mom’s van. Just like his friendship with Taylor and Orange Cassidy, the windshield was splintered as Berreta basically marked the end of his bond with Taylor.

“Best Friends, 2013-2024, see ya.”

Sue expressed her disappointment in her son’s actions noting that she didn’t raise him to act like that.

Sue was a light-hearted component in the mix of The Best Friends’ friendship, but clearly Beretta has thrown all that aside. Last week’s Dynamite kicked off with Trent beating Orange Cassidy up in the middle of Daily’s Place before prompting Chuck Taylor to come out. Trent forced Taylor to choose between him and Cassidy, citing that it was Orange who stole the spotlight from both of them, stating that he was only meant to be their mascot in AEW. Taylor didn’t agree and took the side of Cassidy, putting the Parking Lot Fight into motion.

Trent defeated Taylor by choking him out, but he wasn’t finished. Beretta set sights on Taylor’s ankle with a wrench, telling Orange Cassidy that this was all his fault.

AEW Star Shares Update Amid Contract Rumors

Chuck Taylor has been with AEW since the early days of the company, signing with the promotion in February 2019.

Taylor has spent much of his time in the All-Elite promotion teaming with Trent Beretta, though the pairing are yet to hold AEW World Tag Team Championship gold.

In 2022, Taylor has spent much of his time on AEW’s developmental shows Dark and Dark: Elevation, but recently, some believed that they had seen the last of him in AEW.

Taylor’s Contract

Last week, Taylor got a lot of fans talking when he blacked out his social media account.

Many saw this as Chuck signifying that his career with AEW has ended, as several three-year deals signed in 2019 are set to expire this year.

In an update on Twitter though, Taylor confirmed that he is still with AEW, at least for the time being.

In the tweet, which features a GIF from AEW Dark: Elevation, Chuck said that he hasn’t been fired yet.

Taylor didn’t explain why he blacked out his social media profile, which has since been returned to normal.

Departures from AEW

Chuck Taylor may still be with AEW for the time being, but the company has experienced something of an exodus in talent this year.

Joey Janela, Alan Angels, Marko Stunt and Stu Grayson have all left AEW in recent weeks, and it has been reported that several ‘under the radar’ stars have also parted the company.

AEW’s biggest departure this year was Cody Rhodes, who returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38.

Chuck Taylor Labels Rivalry Between AEW And NXT ‘Fake Bulls**t’

Best Friends’ Chuck Taylor has labeled the Wednesday Night Wars between AEW and NXT a “fake, bulls**t rivalry.”

Taylor shared his thoughts during a recent interview with Tony Schiavone and Aubrey Edwards for AEW’s official podcast, AEW Unrestricted. He stressed how there is no animosity between the rosters, pointing to how most of the NXT roster are his friend.

“People talk about this fake, bulls**t rivalry between AEW and NXT. But they [members of the NXT roster] are all my friends. Like, common, I was actually a groomsman in Johnny Gargano’s wedding,” Taylor said. “I want them to succeed, too. Obviously, not at our expense, I hope they lose and die forever, but those are all my friends. Pretty much everyone on NXT TV I know pretty well.”

His words come in the wake of former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho imploring NXT to switch to Tuesday nights. According to the Jericho, if WWE aired on a different night, they would be able to attain extra viewers. He stressed how the current Wednesday Night War is “kind of embarrassing for NXT at this point.”

Chuck Taylor and his Best Friends’ partner, Trent, competed this week on AEW Dynamite. They defeated Inner Circle members Santana and Ortiz in a Parking Lot Fight.

Chris Jericho Talks AEW Characters He Didn’t Like Initially

AEW star Eddie Kingston appeared on this week’s episode of the Talk Is Jericho podcast. The independent veteran would discuss a number of topics from his time on the road, working with a number of AEW stars and his tryout with WWE.

During the show Chris Jericho and Kingston would discuss characters in AEW, with special praise being given to the younger talent such as Orange Cassidy. Jericho and Cassidy have been feuding on Dynamite and their program seemingly culminated at this past weekend’s ALL OUT PPV.

Even still, Jericho would admit that there were three younger ‘characters’ in AEW that he did not like initially. Chris Jericho would even say that he needed to get his “head out of my a**” to appreciate them as workers.

Chris Jericho on Younger Talent

“The idea of wrestling is to be different and get over” Chris Jericho began on the podcast. “If you can do that? You’ll make money. And listen, is it a six foot eight muscle guy? We went through that phase. Is it a five foot six guy with a mask? We went through that phase.”

Chris Jericho would then reveal the three talents that he had an issue with initially. “When I first came in here [to AEW]? I had a big issue, or problem, with Marko Stunt, Orange Cassidy, and Chuck Taylor.”

“Instead of Rey Mysterio and Bobby Eaton…and I don’t know what Orange Cassidy would even be related to, you know!? You now have Marko who’s a smaller guy, and we have Chuck Taylor, who’s doesn’t have the best physique but he’s a great wrestler. Then we got Orange, he was completely carved out this whole new character for himself. As soon as I actually pulled my head out of my ass I went ‘holy sh*t this guy is over.’ That’s what it’s all about.”
