Backstage Clash At The Castle Notes: Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre And More

WWE will be presenting the Clash At The Castle PPV from the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales in a few hours from now.

Fightful Select recently provided some backstage updates on the show including some interesting details about the main event.

According to the site, Ludwig Kaiser, Butch, Ridge Holland, Dominik Mysterio, and Rhea Ripley are all scheduled to be in the building for the show.

The main PPV will start with the 6 women’s tag match between the teams of Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss & Asuka vs. Bayley, Dakota Kai and IYO Sky.

The main event between Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre is scheduled to get the most time of all the matches, and it’s listed as the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match.

Both Paul Heyman and The Usos are curiously not listed for the event internally which means we might see a fair one on one match between the two competitors.

With Drew McIntyre being the crowd favorite to win the bout, the absence of Heyman and The Usos will only strengthen his chances of defeating Reigns and walking out of the show as the new champion.

Seth Rollins Unhappy He Was Left Off This Year’s SummerSlam: “A Bit Of A Slap In The Face To Me As A Performer”

Today WWE will be invading Cardiff, Wales for their Clash at the Castle premium live event, the company’s first major show in the United Kingdom since the epic SummerSlam 1992 pay-per-view from Wembley 30 years ago.

One of the most highly-anticipated showdowns on the card will be former grand-slam champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins taking on Matt Riddle. The feud, which has been going on for nearly two months, got personal on last week’s Raw when Rollins mentioned Riddle’s real-life issues with his wife during one of his promos, a statement that enraged the Bro and added some extra heat to their encounter.

Rollins and Riddle were originally scheduled to wrestle at SummerSlam last month, but the matchup never officially happened and the two were reduced to a segment that only lasted a few minutes. Rollins spoke about this during his recent interview with Ariel Helwani, and he was quite unhappy with that evening’s booking.

Performing At A High Level

Rollins explains that over the last year he has performed at the top of his game. He had three classics with a returning Cody Rhodes, including what many have called one of the best Hell in a Cell matchups in the last decade. Prior to that Rollins put on clinics with the likes of Roman Reigns, Edge, and was ready to do the same with Riddle at SummerSlam.

“I was a little upset that we had advertised the match, and then not given that to them [the fans]. At the level I had been performing for really the last year, I felt it was a bit of a slap in the face to me as a performer that I wasn’t able to be on what is essentially the second biggest show of the year for us.”

Rollins may not have gotten the chance at SummerSlam, but it will most likely only motivate him more to steal the show at today’s Clash at the Castle.

5 Bold Predictions For Clash At The Castle & All Out Weekend

One of the biggest weekends of the pro wrestling year is upon the fans. WWE’s Clash at the Castle stadium show will be the talk of the UK on Saturday, before a noteworthy NXT When Worlds Collide event effectively closes the door on NXT UK on Sunday. Sunday night, AEW promotes a PPV with a great deal of intrigue around it in All Out.

The weekend is ripe for big happenings that could shift the wrestling landscape. Here are 5 bold predictions for this weekend:

Bray Wyatt Shows Up Somewhere

Bray Wyatt Fiend

Ever since his shocking release from WWE last year, Bray Wyatt has been the most talked about free agent in the business. Not only is he a former WWE Universal Champion, but he’s one of the most unique talents of his generation for his creative vision and character work.

There’s no official word about Wyatt’s future in wrestling (or if he even has one). However, the stage is set for it to make a lot of sense for him to return to the national scene this weekend.

On the AEW side of things, Tony Khan has alluded to the roster having more talent than ever after this Sunday, and signing someone with The Fiend’s name value would certainly contribute to that effort and add a fascinating new dimension to the top of the card.

Meanwhile, in WWE, the company seems to have booked itself into a corner. All indications are they want Roman Reigns to continue his historic reign atop the company. However, Drew McIntyre losing in front of a UK stadium crowd risks sending fans home completely deflated.

One of the few ways to defuse that situation in satisfying fashion would be a huge return, and there’s no bigger return they could book at this moment than Wyatt. While the rumor mill suggests Braun Strowman has re-signed, and he’s probably the next best option, he simply doesn’t have the level of fan investment The Eater of Worlds does, and the crowd would surely recover and pop huge if Wyatt appeared.

CM Punk And FTR Launch A New Heel Faction

CM Punk FTR

There has been no shortage of speculation about CM Punk turning heel coming off his quick, decisive loss to Jon Moxley. The rematch scenario invites him to use underhanded means to reclaim his title in front of a rabid crowd that would probably love him just as much (and maybe more) for playing the villain.

One of the more interesting angles for a Punk heel turn, though, would be for him to not only play the villain, but do so with henchmen at his side, in the faction-rich AEW roster. He and FTR have expressed their pleasure in working together on and off screen. Once the duo finishes their business with Jay Lethal and company earlier in the night, they could transition to this new role at Punk’s side.

Pete Dunne Confronts Bron Breakker

Pete Dunne

Fans have taken some pleasure in seeing Butch slowly morph into something more like his old self as Pete Dunne in recent weeks, including wearing his old ring gear, and appearing on NXT television to acknowledge his past there this week. Now, Dunne feels like one of the most under-utilized talents for WWE’s big weekend centered around the UK.

One way of remedying that situation would be for Dunne to take a bigger step away from the Butch persona, and show up at When Worlds Collide. He’d be an immediately credible challenger to Bron Breakker after he presumably beats Tyler Bate. With even a short run in the main event picture—maybe gearing up to challenge Breakker at Halloween Havoc—WWE could reboot this special talent before he comes back to the main roster with Sheamus and Ridge Holland, or else out on his own.

AEW Sets Up Samoa Joe Vs. Wardlow

Samoa Joe AEW

With Samoa Joe done filming Twisted Metal for Peacock, and rumored to return to AEW action soon, it would only make sense for him to make a surprise appearance at All Out, taking revenge onJay Lethal and company for the kayfabe injury they dealt him. However, fans gave this angle a tepid response in the first place, so it’s probably best AEW not linger on it for too long.

In getting himself involved in the six-man tag team match pitting Wardlow and FTR vs. Jay Lethal and The Motor City Machine Guns, Joe could naturally get intertwined in a story with Wardlow. Maybe the big man wouldn’t want Joe’s help, or maybe’s Joe’s attempts at intervening could backfire and hurt Wardlow’s team. Regardless, Wardlow vs. Joe could be a fun next step in the young TNT Champion’s evolution, and a fresh, compelling matchup to throw Joe into.

Gunther Vs. Sheamus Steals The Whole Weekend

Sheamus Vs Gunther

Between the lines ups WWE and AEW have drawn up for the weekend, there’s no shortage of prospective match of the year candidates that could come up. One matchup fans might sleep on, that may wind up not only stealing the show at Clash at the Castle, but emerge as the best bout of the weekend is Gunther vs. Sheamus.

This is a bout between two extremely talented big men, both comfortable working a stiff style, both likely to enjoy a boost from the UK crowd. While NXT and NXT UK fans have seen Gunther put on classics with Ilja Dragunov and Pete Dunne, main roster-only fans may not know what they’re in for here, and this maybe the perfect storm to set up one of the best performances of The Celtic Warrior’s career.

It’s hard to imagine this weekend not being a great one for wrestling fans, who are sure to encounter their share of surprises. That might include ones listed here, or some very different directions for WWE, NXT, and AEW alike.

WWE Clash at the Castle Predictions

WWE Clash at the Castle takes place this Saturday from Principality Stadium in Cardiff. The first major WWE PPV/PLE show to emanate from the U.K. since SummerSlam 1992, there will be more than 45,000 fans in attendance.

SEScoops correspondents Andrew Ravens, Thomas Lowson and Robert Lentini have assembled to provide our official WWE Clash at the Castle predictions.

Edge and Rey Mysterio vs. The Judgment Day

Andrew Ravens: Edge and Rey should go over here, but I think there has to be a six-person tag team match happening in the near future so Rhea Ripley and Beth Phoenix can get involved. That could impact the finish here as Ripley could get involved and cost the babyfaces the win. (Prediction: Edge and Rey Mysterio)

Thomas Lowson: The Judgment Day has been picking up wins as of late, and the decision to kick out Edge has worked out after all. After all, who really wanted to boo the man who fought through a nine-year retirement to wrestle again?  I’ve got to go with Edge and Rey, in what could be a show-stealer. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Judgment Day save face with a post-match beatdown. (Prediction: Edge and Rey Mysterio)

Robert Lentini: Edge is off to a great start in destroying the group he created after he defeated Damian Priest on RAW. WWE has teased turning Dominik heel a few times and maybe it will finally happen this Saturday. I’m going with The Judgement Day to win this one in controversial fashion. (Prediction: The Judgment Day)

Consensus: Split

Riddle vs. Seth Rollins

Andrew Ravens: This feud has been dragged out for a while now, and unless there are plans for it to continue, Riddle should get his revenge here by beating Rollins. If WWE wants to make this a long-term feud then Rollins goes over. Either way, it’s been a fun build. (Prediction: Riddle)

Thomas Lowson: A feud that’s been great, but we’ve seen plenty between the two. Their work on Raw, both in the pre-show parking lot brawl and on-air was some of their best work all year. I’m predicting Rollins, if nothing else because his record on PLEs has been pretty appalling this year. Hopefully this marks the end of this feud and the two can find other dance partners. (Prediction: Seth Rollins)

Robert Lentini: The rivalry between Rollins and Riddle has gotten very personal. Riddle claimed that Becky Lynch was “The Man” in Seth’s family and Rollins joked that Riddle doesn’t have a family anymore because his wife is divorcing him. They kicked off RAW with a brawl last week and brawled in the parking lot this past Monday. WWE has given Riddle his first name back, so maybe they want the audience to take him seriously again. A win over Seth Rollins at a premium live event would help in that regard as well. (Prediction: Riddle)

Consensus: Split

Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss, and Asuka vs. Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Iyo Sky

Andrew Ravens: I would have the heels go over. I know WWE likes for the babyfaces to go over in feuds, but the Damage Control faction has been a great watch on television, and I hope to see much more of it. Bayley vs. Belair is coming, but to get to that spot, Bayley needs to be kept strong, and a loss for Belair and the rest of the babyfaces won’t hurt them. (Prediction: Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IO SKY)

Thomas Lowson: Two very good teams, that it’s honestly hard to call. I’m going to go with the heels. It’s their first PLE match since forming, and after losing on Raw, they need the win more. I don’t imagine it’ll be Belair taking the pin though. Keep the champion looking strong the next time she needs to defend at a Premium Live Event. (Prediction: Bayley, Dakota Kai and IYO SKY)

Robert Lentini: Bayley returned at SummerSlam alongside Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky. They made an impact on that show but really haven’t since. Dakota Kai & Iyo Sky lost the finals of the women’s tag team tournament this past Monday and Bayley defeated Aliyah in her only TV match since SummerSlam. Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Iyo Shirai should win this match if fans are supposed to consider them as a serious threat on the RAW roster. (Prediction: Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY)

Consensus: Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY

Intercontinental Champion Gunther vs. Sheamus

Andrew Ravens: Gunther shouldn’t lose here. He’s been pushed as a monster, and that needs to continue. Many fans, including myself, have been looking forward to seeing these two stars lock up and we’re finally going to get it. It should be the hardest-hitting bout on the card and perhaps the match of the night. (Prediction: Gunther)

Thomas Lowson: This is arguably going to be the most ‘physical’ match of the night, and I’m excited to see it live. While I do hope that Sheamus one day captures the Grand Slam, now isn’t the right time. Gunther’s reign is still picking up steam, and he shouldn’t be dropping the gold this year from how I see it. Give him a long run that actually gives the IC title prestige again. (Prediction: Gunther)

Robert Lentini: Gunther is awesome and thank goodness the new leadership in WWE believes in him. The Ring General will get a hero’s welcome in the UK and he will definitely retain the title. As The Celtic Warrior said on SmackDown, he’s been delivering banger after banger as of late, and WWE fans should expect another one at Clash at the Castle. (Prediction: Gunther)

Consensus: Gunther

SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan vs. Shayna Baszler

Andrew Ravens: Morgan should retain her as WWE still has the storyline with Ronda Rousey to play out. However, if WWE just wanted to swerve fans, they could put the title on Baszler. This loss won’t hurt Baszler as long as WWE continues to push her the way that they have in recent weeks, which is a great change to see. (Prediction: Liv Morgan)

Thomas Lowson: Seems pretty easy to see that Morgan is going to win this. WWE’s issue is that they’ve made her out to be lucky rather than skilled. See her cashing in on a hurting Rousey and her controversial title retention at Summerslam. WWE needs to have Morgan actually beat someone. Unfortunately, that’ll be Baszler, who should have had at least one singles title run on the main roster by now. Maybe one day, but not this weekend. (Prediction: Liv Morgan)

Robert Lentini: Everyone was excited about Liv Morgan becoming the SmackDown Women’s Champion at the Money in the Bank premium live event. She won the women’s ladder match and cashed in on the same night against Ronda Rousey. Ronda was hurting from her successful title defense against Natalya and Liv capitalized.Ronda got her rematch at SummerSlam but the referee claimed that her shoulders were down while applying the Armbar and awarded Liv Morgan the victory. Rousey attacked Liv and the referee after the match and has been suspended. She will likely play a factor in this match as well. Liv will somehow escape Clash at the Castle as the champion to set up another match against Rousey down the line. (Liv Morgan)

Consensus: Liv Morgan

Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre

Andrew Ravens: This has to be the day Reigns is finally defeated. I don’t know who else is a bigger star to dethrone Reigns as champion than McIntyre. Throw in the circumstances of the event. It seems like too good of a situation to pass up and not put the title on McIntyre. Reigns has done it all, and WWE needs a more active champion. (Prediction: Drew McIntyre)

Thomas Lowson: This match screams ‘Big Fight Feel!’ We’ve just entered year three of Reigns’ run on top, but I’m going out on a leg and saying it ends this Saturday. If WWE wants Rock-Roman at WrestleMania, that doesn’t need the title. He should lose it before then. And if not to Drew, then who? Give the UK a feel good moment, and give McIntyre the title win with fans he deserves after carrying the company through the Pandemic. It’s his time! (Prediction: Drew McIntyre)

Robert Lentini: Roman Reigns will be celebrating two years as champion this Friday on SmackDown. It has been a remarkable run for The Tribal Chief. However, there appears to be some friction brewing in The Bloodline. Sami Zayn refused to bash Kevin Owens with a steel chair on RAW and it cost Jey Uso the match. Paul Heyman hasn’t been seen since being put through a table via an F5 from Brock Lesnar. McIntyre is a two-time WWE Champion, yet has never held the title in front of a crowd. Drew was integral to getting WWE through the pandemic era of TV and it would be great to see him finally get his moment this Saturday. Clash at the Castle is WWE’s first UK stadium show in over thirty years and I can’t think of a better way to send the crowd home happy than to give McIntyre the victory. Karrion Kross has sent several warnings to Drew since he returned to WWE, so it will be interesting to see if he interferes in the match. (Prediction: Drew McIntyre)

Consensus: Drew McIntyre

First Look at WWE Clash at the Castle Production Setup

WWE Clash at the Castle airs live this Saturday night from the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

WWE Clash at the Castle is the company’s first stadium show in the United Kingdom in over thirty years. The last premium live event held in the UK was SummerSlam 1992.

The crowd is expected to be massive with close to 63,000 tickets already sold. Principality Stadium has a seating capacity listed for the event at 67,580, so there are still tickets available for purchase.

First Look at the Production Setup For Clash at the Castle

Roman Reigns will put the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on the line against Drew McIntyre in the main event. Roman will be celebrating his two-year reign as champion tomorrow night on SmackDown.

The Intercontinental Championship will be defended by Gunther at the premium live event. The Ring General will battle The Celtic Warrior Sheamus with the title on the line. Liv Morgan will defend the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Shayna Baszler as well.

RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair will team up with Alexa Bliss & Asuka to face the heel trio of Bayley, IYO SKY, and Dakota Kai. Edge and Rey Mysterio will square off against The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and Damian Priest. Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle’s rivalry has gotten personal and they will look to settle it this Saturday at Clash at the Castle.

The Wrestling Outsiders have provided photos and videos of the Clash at the Castle production setup. It appears that the premium live event will feature a massive stage in addition to a WrestleMania-worthy crowd. The jumbotron is shaped to form a castle and you can check out the photos/video of the setup below.

Watch: Damian Priest Lives with a Welsh Family Ahead of WWE Clash at the Castle

Damian Priest will be in action this Saturday at WWE Clash at the Castle. The 39-year-old lost to Edge in the main event of the August 22nd edition of RAW.

The Judgment Day lost to The Mysterios at SummerSlam after The Rated-R Superstar made his return. Rhea Ripley brutally attacked Dominik Mysterio but he returned this past Monday on RAW. The Mysterios came to help Edge during his face-off with his former group.

There have been hints of Dominik betraying his father and that continued on RAW. Dominik wondered why Rey chose Edge as his tag team partner and Mysterio claimed that he needed his experience by his side. Dominik reluctantly accepted to be in their corner for the tag team match this Saturday.

Damian Priest Lives with Welsh Family

Judgment Day member Damian Priest is getting himself prepared for WWE’s first stadium show in the United Kingdom in three decades. Clash at the Castle is set to have an enormous crowd in attendance this Saturday in Cardiff, Wales.

Damian will be teaming up with fellow Judgment Day member Finn Balor in a tag team bout against Edge & Rey Mysterio at the premium live event.

BT Sport recently ran an advertisement for Clash at the Castle with WWE Superstar Damian Priest. In the advertisement, The Archer of Infamy lived with a Welsh family and worked at a brewery ahead of the premium live event. He successfully herded sheep and cooked Welsh treats as well. You can check out the full video below.

“Wish I was There” – Former WWE Champion Comments on Missing Clash at the Castle

WWE Clash at the Castle airs this Saturday from the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. It is the company’s first stadium show in the United Kingdom in over thirty years.

Roman Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Drew McIntyre at the premium live event. The SmackDown Women’s Championship and Intercontinental Championship will also be defended at the event.

RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair will team with Alexa Bliss and Asuka to battle Bayley, Iyo Sky, and Dakota Kai this Saturday at Clash at the Castle. Seth Rollins and Riddle will also meet in the ring after their rivalry has become incredibly personal as of late.

AJ Styles Comments on Missing Clash at the Castle

AJ Styles noted in a recent interview that he was going to miss the premium live event and commented some more on it today. The Phenomenal One joined WWE’s The Bump today and Kayla Braxton wondered if the UK crowd will be one of the best in history this Saturday.

“It hurts my heart not being a part of something like that. We know how the UK is and we know how they erupt over there. They make everything seem so special and to be around that many people at one time, wow it is going to be explosive. I think everyone is going to have an amazing time, wish I was there. Maybe we’ll get to see a new champion.”

AJ Styles on missing Clash at the Castle (24:20-24:48)

The two-time WWE Champion then gave an official prediction for the title match between Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre.

“Drew is something special man. It’s his time. I really believe that. In the pandemic, he was champ but this is in front of people. Is it his hometown? Not exactly but I’m sure they’ll be there. I think he’s got momentum on his side, I really do.” (25:16-25:34)

Get To Know: Wresthings Podcast

In the latest installment of the Get to Know series, we bring you a special interview with UK wrestling podcast Wresthings.

The United States has seen many independent wrestling podcasts grow and expand their reach worldwide. However, it’s not as common to see international wrestling content creators gain popularity in the U.S.

Wresthings have slowly risen as one of the most popular United Kingdom podcasts in wrestling. They’ve already grown a fanbase in their hometown of London, England, but they are also gaining popularity in America. People are taking notice of the Wresthings group, whether it be other podcasters or wrestlers.

I recently spoke with Delboy, N.K, Anarfi, VRSYJNES, and Mekz of Wresthings about their growing successful media career. Sam Blackz and Laps were, unfortunately, unavailable at the time.

Here’s the video of our discussion, followed by written highlights.

How Did The Wresthings Podcast Start?

The Wresthings podcast started as a group of wrestling fans wanting to discuss current wrestling content without being judged and making it cool to watch. Finding people still watching present-day wrestling in the UK may not be easy, particularly in the inner city community.

Working as musicians, Delboy and Anarfi know each other and bonded in an Instagram group chat about wrestling. Having a common interest, both creators decided to start the Wresthings brand.

Wresthing with Gabriel Kid

When talking about coming together as wrestling fans to discuss wrestling, Anarfi said, “…It’s crazy because back in the day, I’d speak to people about wrestling, and the first thing people would say is oh, isn’t that fake or they say something like oh, Stone Cold still wrestling and stuff and it’s like those were conversations there I didn’t really want to hear. For example, there was a moment in time when I didn’t watch wrestling, and Del was my go-to guy.”

He continued, “…It was just nice that we can have this sort of like this forum or community, or brotherhood or sisterhood or family or whatever that we can actually come through, post our wrestling content, speak about other stuff, check on up with mental health and life and stuff. So yeah, It’s gone from us being like wrestling fans and just talking about wrestling all the time to doing other stuff and caring for each other.”

Delboy would also contact VRSYJNES and Blackz to join them as they also bonded about wrestling. They officially launched their podcast on Jan. 11, 2019. As the podcast progressed over the years, other current podcast members joined, and the brand gained popularity.

Wresthing With Will Ospreay

Dealing with Fame as Content Creators

While the podcast is gaining success, the group members are getting more recognized among their peers. Although it can sometimes be overwhelming, the group takes pride in helping make wrestling popular among the black community in the U.K.

The group noted how they are getting noticed in public by fans and how much it meant to them to see people love their work. Delboy shared what it meant to see his brother watching Wresthings.

Wresthings

“…I’m tired of my siblings watching WhatCulture. I’ll be real, said Delboy jokingly. He continued, “I’m tired of them watching What Culture and Cultaholic and Wrestletalk, no disrespect to them. I love them. I watch them all the time, but it brings a smile to my face when I’m going downstairs, and I’m watching my brother watch my podcast. it makes me feel like, yeah it’s just as important as watching Simon Miller or an Adam Blampied. For him to look at us, yeah I want to listen to your podcast. I don’t agree with this, what Anarfi said here was rubbish or what Blackz said here I enjoyed, for me it’s like yeah this is why I do it.”

Delboy also added that “…The fact that there are black kids watching us and being able to have us as an alternative to the majors, for me, it’s like we are doing what we need to do. So we have to carry on and continue until we take over, and we have all these black kids watching us.”

WWE Clash at the Castle

Their Thoughts on Clash at Castle Taking Place in Cardiff, Wales

WWE will hold its next event, Clash at the Castle, on Sep. 3 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Although the event is in the U.K, it’s not an easy trip to make if you live in England.

Wresthings shared that they wouldn’t be able to attend, and the travel would cost more than going to New York. The group is also confused about why the event is happening in Cardiff.

“…No disrespect to Wales, but London is the capital or at least if not London, you know we have big other cities here Manchester, Birmingham, like not too sure why they went to Wales. Maybe it’s availability of the stadium, but those that are going, they’ve done hard work to make sure they are going,” said Mekz. He continued, “…I know people that are going that aren’t staying in Cardiff, which is the city it’s happening in. They are staying in other cities in Wales, just because of availability of hotels and cheaper tickets and they are going to go from those other cities into Cardiff on the day. WWE hasn’t made this show as accessible as you would like really and truly. You know, hopefully it’s a successful show for them and they come back to the U.K somewhere closer to us in general.”

Clash at the Castle isn’t sold out, with tickets still on sale at Ticketmaster. The event also has tickets available for resale.

Wresthing with Ava White

What Are Wresthings Future Plans?

The future for Wresthings seems to be promising. Each podcast member has goals they want to accomplish for the brand.

One of the biggest things they look to achieve is creating subscription services like Patreon to create more content and earn more financial growth. However, Anarfi shared that it won’t be happening just yet.

Outside of doing weekly wrestling content, they continue to have famous U.K wrestlers sometimes appear on their show, like Will Ospreay or Gabriel Kidd. They recently had Ava White on their Aug. 12 episode, who will be competing in the IWGP Women’s Championship Tournament at Royal Quest 2 Night two on Oct. 2.

The group also discussed doing more things creatively in wrestling, like having their wrestling event under their brand. Wresthings have shown great ambition to take the brand to new levels.

They hope to continue making discussing wrestling fun and entertaining as they flourish. While it started as friends discussing WWE, Wresthings has become a successful wrestling media brand.

Potential Spoiler on Plans for WWE Clash at the Castle Main Event

For the past two years, Roman Reigns has dominated WWE like never before, holding an iron grip on the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Winning the Universal title in August 2020, a week after returning to TV, Reigns unified the title with Brock Lesnar’s WWE Championship at WrestleMania 38.

The list of names who have lost to Reigns is a who’s-who of WWE, including Lesnar, John Cena, Edge, Finn Balor, Bray Wyatt, and others.

The End is Near?

This Saturday, Reigns will defend the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship at Clash at the Castle against Drew McIntyre.

The two faced off one-on-one at Survivor Series 2020, where Reigns got the win, but the result could be much different this time.

WrestleVotes reports that for the first time in a long time, there have been discussions about Reigns losing at this weekend’s event.

It’s reported that “multiple ideas” have intrigued those who will decide the finish for Reigns Vs. McIntyre, which will headline Clash at the Castle.

Today marks Day 729 since Reigns became Universal Champion.

McIntyre: Why it makes sense

While Reigns has been virtually untouchable since turning heel and becoming the Tribal Chief, a McIntyre win makes sense.

McIntyre is yet to have a World Championship win in front of a live crowd, with his first coming at the empty-arena WrestleMania 36, and his second in the Thunderdome.

McIntyre has also been kept protected in recent years and is arguably the only Superstar active at this time who would make sense as the one to defeat Reigns.

With reports of WWE considering more international stadium shows (depending on whether Clash at the Castle is a success) a World Title change this weekend would go a long way in proving stadium shows outside the U.S. are important.

How WWE Can Book Itself Out of a Corner with Reigns vs. McIntyre at Clash at the Castle

This Saturday at WWE Clash at the Castle, Roman Reigns defends his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Drew McIntyre. It’s a dream match scenario because the previous match between the two at Survivor Series 2020 delivered at the highest level, and WWE has mostly kept them apart ever since.

Moreover, in the two years to follow, The Head of the Table has only built upon his credibility via a long title reign full of good-to-great matches. Meanwhile, fans have clamored to see McIntyre return to the main event picture after spending most of his time in the mid-card since mid-2021 when Bobby Lashley got the better of their WWE Championship feud.

That’s all the more true in the UK—a setting starving to see one of their own on top, not to mention starving for a PPV. This all comes to a head at Clash at the Castle, but how should this blockbuster match play out?

It’s Not Time For Roman Reigns To Drop The Titles Yet

Roman Reigns

WWE seems to have booked itself into a corner. The fans at Principality Stadium are likely to be very disappointed if Drew McIntyre doesn’t emerge champion. By the same token, Roman Reigns is on a historic and it stands to reason WWE will want him to remain champion at least until WrestleMania for his presumptive dream match with The Rock.

Ordinarily, the simple enough answer would be for McIntyre to win in Cardiff, then drop the title back to Reigns, but because so much of The Tribal Chief’s identity and credibility are wrapped up in having the longest world title reign in modern WWE history, that simply doesn’t seem like the right move at this time.

Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns Has To Deliver

Roman Reigns Vs Drew McIntyre

While Roman Reigns beating Drew McIntyre won’t make UK fans happy any way they cut it, one way to mitigate disappointment is to be sure the match itself delivers. Reigns and McIntyre are each exceptional talents and have proven chemistry—as long as WWE gives them time, they’re likely to hold up their end, particularly with a raucous crowd behind McIntyre elevating anything they do.

Delivering a match at or above the level of what they did at Survivor Series 2020 will go a long way toward helping fans feel like they saw something historic, regardless of the finish.

WWE Needs A Surprise to Balance UK Fans’ Disappointment

The Fiend WWE

WWE has a proven track record of using a big surprise to lessen the sting of a disappointing moment or, more to the point, distract from a choice fans might otherwise reject. Consider Seth Rollins cashing in Money in the Bank to protect Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar alike in the main event of WrestleMania 31 and send fans home happy for the sense they’d been a part of something unique and electric.

While history hasn’t looked as kindly on it, one could even lump in Hulk Hogan beating Yokozuna after Yokozuna defeated Bret Hart for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 9 as another example of moving the storyline along, and throwing in a huge twist to captivate the audience.

Incorporating an attempted Money in the Bank cash-in by Theory could certainly factor into Clash at the Castle, though fans aren’t invested enough in the young star to be happy with him taking the title (besides which, that would still mark a premature end to The Tribal Chief’s title reign). Karrion Kross has also interjected himself already in the Reigns vs. McIntyre storyline and could factor in. The real key may rest with something Triple H has already embraced in his short time heading up WWE creative, though: the surprise return.

Having someone emerge to confront Reigns post-match, stealing fans’ attention away from McIntyre’s loss could offer Clash at the Caste a satisfying end. A UK-specific star showing up could have merit to pop the crowd in Cardiff, but unfortunately there aren’t many, if any, main event level talents waiting in the wings. It’s a stretch, but if WWE could book Davey Boy Smith Jr. to fill that role, he’s one of the few faces the fans live would accept, and whom WWE might be able to spin as credible short-term threat to Reigns.

Braun Strowman is a big enough name with former world champion credentials to conceivably fit as well. The best option, if WWE could pull it off, would be to pull the trigger on Bray Wyatt. This is purely fantasy booking as it’s unclear if Wyatt is available or interested in such a return (or if WWE, even without Vince McMahon, wants him). Nonetheless he’s probably the single most buzzworthy free agent out there, besides having a ready-to-tell story with Reigns given it was The Fiend whom Reigns beat for the Universal Championship in 2020, and Wyatt never got his rematch.

In the end, WWE will have its work cut out for it booking a finish at Clash at the Castle that pleases fans at home and in Wales, besides serving their long-term vision. There are no easy answers, but there are creative opportunities available to pull off something special.

Clash at the Castle Matches

Riddle Rollins Clash at the Castle

Monday’s edition of WWE Raw saw the return of Riddle. The Original Bro called out the man he was supposed to face at SummerSlam, Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins.

Later in the show, Rollins was in the ring cutting a promo when he was attacked by Riddle. This ignited an intense brawl that spilled over into the crowd.

WWE has since confirmed Riddle vs. Rollins is signed. With that match set, here’s the updated card for WWE Clash at the Castle:

  • Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre
  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan vs. Shayna Baszler
  • Riddle vs. Seth Rollins
  • Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss and Asuka vs. Bayley, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky

Clash at the Castle will stream live on Peacock in the United States and on the WWE Network internationally.

Top Superstar Will Miss WWE Clash at the Castle

Clash at the Castle is gearing up to be one of WWE’s biggest events of 2022.

WWE runs premium live events every month, but Clash at the Castle will be the company’s first stadium event from the United Kingdom in 30 years. It all goes down Saturday, September 3rd from Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

WWE has promised a big card for Clash and so far, we’re on course. Announced matches include:

  • Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre
  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan vs. Shayna Baszler
  • Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss and Asuka vs. Bayley, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky

More matches are sure to be announced in the coming days, but one former WWE Champion has confirmed he will not be there.

AJ Styles Won’t Be There

The Phenomenal didn’t compete at Money in the Bank or SummerSlam. Unfortunately, he won’t be wrestling at Clash of the Castle, either.

Styles broke the news during a recent interview with Inside the Ropes.

“I would love to put on a show,” said Styles. “I don’t know that I have a story or anything, and it’s a shame. There are plenty of other performers that have great stories, so I’m not saddened by the fact that I won’t be there because I know you guys are going to have such a great night with so many great matches.”

Based on Styles comments, it’s a bit unclear as to why he’s miss missing three conjecture premium live events. He’s been competing on television, so it’s not an injury.

Drew McIntyre Officially Receives WWE Undisputed Universal Title Shot at Clash at the Castle

Drew McIntyre has punched his ticket to Clash at the Castle.

McIntyre and Sheamus collided in the opening match of the July 29 episode of SmackDown. The two clashed in a good-old-fashioned Donnybrook match.

The winner would receive a shot at the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship at Clash at the Castle on Sept. 3.

When the dust settled, it was McIntyre who emerged victorious. He will meet whoever holds the undisputed gold by the time WWE heads to Cardiff, Wales.

The current titleholder, Roman Reigns will put his gold on the line against Brock Lesnar in a Last Man Standing match. That championship match will serve as the main event of SummerSlam on July 30 inside Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.

WWE has teased the possibility of Theory cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase on the show.

Plans for Drew McIntyre’s opponent at the big September premium live event have been reported. To save you from spoilers, we won’t post that info in this piece.

Major Potential Spoiler for WWE SummerSlam Main Event

A major possible spoiler for the WWE SummerSlam main event has surfaced.

This year’s big SummerSlam event will be taking place inside Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. The show is going down on July 30.

In the main event, WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns will put his gold on the line against Brock Lesnar. For weeks, WWE has been teasing the idea of having Theory cash in his Money in the Bank contract to close out the show.

As it turns out, the main event may have been spoiled ahead of the big night.

Spoiler Alert

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that the plan as of now within WWE is for Roman Reigns to enter Clash at the Castle as the Undisputed Universal Champion going up against Drew McIntyre.

Of course, that would mean that Reigns would defeat Brock Lesnar in their Last Man Standing match and avoid a successful cash-in from Theory if the company plans to have the briefcase holder show up after his United States Title match against Bobby Lashley.

WWE has been building up Drew and keeping him away from The Bloodline for months in order to build towards the big Sept. 3 show in Cardiff, Wales.

This seems to be the perfect time for Reigns to drop the gold and give McIntyre that big feel-good moment that he was robbed of back in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Time will tell if WWE will actually go through with having Drew McIntyre dethrone Roman Reigns.

Big Name Could Miss WWE Clash at the Castle

WWE may be without one of its top voices for Clash at the Castle.

The big Sept. 3 event is scheduled to take place inside Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. The event is expected to break the all-time record for the highest WWE live gate outside of WrestleMania.

While Clash at the Castle is expected to have some heavy hitters, one prominent name could be missing.

Pat McAfee Missing Clash at the Castle?

During a recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show, the SmackDown color commentator was having a conversation with UFC President Dana White.

The two were discussing the June 11 UFC 275 card in Singapore. At some point during the chat, Dana offered McAfee to attend a UFC event in Paris, France scheduled for the same day as Clash at the Castle.

Pat accepted Dana’s offer to attend the event.

It’s possible that in the heat of the moment, McAfee simply forgot that WWE was holding a major event that same day. With that said, Pat McAfee recently missed the Hell in a Cell premium live event.

McAfee said the reason he didn’t attend is that all parties agreed the trip wasn’t worth it for just one SmackDown match.

WWE Files Trademark Possibly Related To UK Stadium Show

WWE stays busy filing trademarks and this latest one may have something to do with a future stadium event.

Earlier this month, WWE announced it would be making its way to Cardiff, Wales on Sept. 3. The special event will be held inside Principality Stadium, which has a max capacity of approximately 78,000 for boxing events. The announcement confirmed an earlier report from WrestleVotes.

WWE’s Latest Trademark Involves UK Stadium Show?

WWE has filed a new trademark for “Clash at the Castle.” The filing has surfaced on the European Union Intellectual Property Office website.

One would think the trademark is related to the Cardiff show and could potentially be the name of the event. Time will tell if that is truly the case.

One thing we do know is that WWE is excited about the UK stadium show. Here’s what was said in the announcement press release:

“Principality Stadium is the perfect place for a major event, hosting our amazing fans from Wales, throughout all of Europe, and around the world,” said John Porco, WWE Senior Vice President, Live Events. “The weekend will be filled with a variety of WWE experiences that we believe will leave a lasting memory, on par with SummerSlam at Wembley Stadium in 1992.”

“Wales will provide an iconic location for WWE’s return to the UK after 30 years and showcase our country to a global audience of millions, including extended reach in the USA,” said Welsh Government Minister for Economy Vaughan Gething. “This is set to be the perfect addition to a huge year of sport, entertainment and culture in Wales that will attract people from across the globe to experience what our country has to offer.”

“We’re extremely proud that Principality Stadium has been chosen by WWE to host this major event, which is testament to the stadium’s reputation as a world-class venue,” said Mark Williams, Principality Stadium Manager. “Principality Stadium is unique in its position at the heart of the city centre, which will undoubtedly offer WWE fans an unrivaled event experience both inside and outside of the stadium and bring great benefit to the wider city of Cardiff.”

Tyson Fury Teases Facing Drew McIntyre At UK Stadium Show: “I’d Love To Knock Him Out”

WWE is expected to put together a big show for their upcoming UK event from Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on September 3. Tyson Fury is now teasing being a part of it and facing a former WWE champion.

The Gypsy King successfully defended the WBC and The Ring Heavyweight titles when he defeated Dillian Whyte at the Wembley Stadium this Saturday.

In the post-match press conference, Fury was asked about a potential WWE return. He mentioned how Drew McIntyre has been talking about him recently and said that he would love to knock him out:

“Don’t rule me out of fighting there, you might see me at SummerSlam. I got to speak to Vince and the boys, maybe make this happen.

I know Drew McIntyre has been saying a lot of things about me, I’d love to knock him out.” said Tyson Fury, “I’d love to be at Cardiff. I’d love to be back at center stage in the UK.”

Drew McIntyre had recently discussed three potential opponents for him at the Cardiff event. This list included the boxing star among others.

Tyson Fury wrestled a couple of matches for WWE in 2019. He first defeated Braun Strowman at the Crown Jewel event from Saudi Arabia. Fury later teamed with Strowman to defeat the B-Team a month later.

Drew McIntyre Wants Tyson Fury at WWE UK Stadium Show

Drew McIntyre has some advice for boxing champion Tyson Fury: don’t screw things up this weekend.

Fury returns to the ring this Saturday. He defends the WBC heavyweight title against Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

McIntyre spoke with Sky Sports this week to discuss the fight, his relationship with Fury and his desire to wrestle the big man at WWE’s big UK stadium show from Cardiff, Wales in September.

McIntyre says he cheers on Tyson Fury every time he fights. They keep in touch and “go back and forth” pretty regularly. However, whenever Fury attends WWE live events, McIntyre says the Gypsy King manages to avoid him. He joked that Fury is the World’s Tallest Ninja, due to Fury’s ability to avoid him when they’re in the same building.

Drew McIntyre vs. Tyson Fury

McIntyre says, “I’m a big fan of his. He’s highly entertaining, he’s such an attraction. That’s why I’m always saying to him, ‘Hey, the door’s always open in WWE. The ball is in your court.'”

He’s no boxing expert, but even he can see Fury that is a superior fighter to Whyte. His cardio is second to none and he’s proven he can take a knockout punch and get back up. “There’s no reason he shouldn’t run right through him this weekend,” said McIntyre.

McIntyre advises Fury, “Don’t screw it up!” because there’s a big-money wrestling match on the table, if he’s up for it.

“All I’ll say to Tyson is, Don’t screw it up! Don’t screw it up. Get through this fight, win it, and then give us a call. We’ll figure out if it can happen in Cardiff.”

– Drew McIntyre to Tyson Fury

WWE’s first UK stadium show in 30 years takes place on Saturday, September 3rd from Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

WWE should have no problem packing 70,000+ fans into Principality Stadium. However, a Drew McIntyre vs. Tyson Fury showdown all-but-guarantees a sellout crowd.

Drew McIntyre Reveals Who He Would Like To Face At The UK Stadium Show

Drew McIntyre is guaranteed to be part of a big match at the upcoming WWE Stadium Show in UK. If given a chance to pick his opponent, he would like to face none other than the Undisputed World Champion Roman Reigns at the show.

The former WWE champion recently had an interview with BT Sport. He was told about a recent Twitter survey where fans discussed Reigns, Gunther, and Tyson Fury as the three potential opponents for him at the upcoming event.

When asked which one of these three names he would prefer to face at the show, McIntyre picked the Tribal Chief without any hesitation:

“Roman, He’s the Champion. I’ve been away from the title for a long time. Roman’s been so dominant and is doing the best work of his career. We’re on a collision course.

It is five months away. If somehow we could avoid each other for five months, that would be such a big match.” said Drew McIntyre, “Especially on the U.K. soil, I can’t imagine the atmosphere for that match.”

The Scottish Warrior also discussed the other potential opponents. He revealed that Gunther and him have been talking about a match for a long time but claimed that right now is the time to educate the world about who Gunther is on the big stage.

On the topic of Tyson Fury, McIntyre mentioned how they have been taking digs at each other for over two years. Drew claimed that he would be good with this match as well but he has to pick the title match if given the choice.

WWE UK PPV Tickets Seeing Record-Setting Demand

WWE will have no problem packing the house for September’s big UK event from Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

Earlier this week, WWE announced it is bringing a stadium event to the UK for the first time in nearly 30 years.

John Porco, WWE Senior Vice President, Live Events, says the show will leave a lasting memory “on par with SummerSlam at Wembley Stadium in 1992.”

Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre took a victory lap over the news, writing on Twitter, “WE DID IT!!!”

WWE UK PPV Tickets

Fans who plan to attend have been encouraged to sign up for an “exclusive presale opportunity.” (Register here).

According to journalist Alex McCarthy, more than 59,000 people signed up for the Cardiff PPV in the first 24 hours. He wrote on Twitter that this demand marks a company record, including all WrestleMania shows.

It’s important to note these are pre-sale sign-ups, not tickets sold). However, the demand is certainly there for the WWE UK PPV tickets.

According to Wikipedia, the all-time attendance record for Principality Stadium is just over 78,000 fans for the Anthony Joshua v Carlos Takam boxing fight in October 2017.

SEScoops will provide an update when we learn about when tickets are going on sale for the September 3rd WWE UK PPV.

Update on a WWE UK PPV Happening Later This Year

WWE fans in the United Kingdom have waited a long time for the region to host another pay-per-view (“premium live”) event. As it turns out, they might not have to wait much longer.

According to WrestleVotes, a WWE source says plans are underway to bring a major WWE show to Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales later this year.

The yet-to-be-named show would take place over Labor Day Weekend on Saturday, September 3rd. This is the same weekend that All Elite Wrestling typically holds the annual AEW All Out pay-per-view.

Principality Stadium is home to the Wales National Rugby Union team has a max capacity of approximately 78,000 people for boxing events.

  • Elimination Chamber (Jeddah Superdome, Saudi Arabia)
  • WrestleMania (AT&T Stadium, Dallas, TX)
  • Money in the Bank (Allegiant Stadium, Paradise, Nevada)

WWE has been talking about holding another PPV from the UK for many years. Here’s some of our previous coverage about this topic:
