Grayson Waller Wants Feud with CM Punk: “I’m Not Here to be Your Fanboy!”

Grayson Waller is ready to test himself against former World Champion CM Punk, both in the ring and in a battle on the mic.

Punk appeared on last week’s episode of SmackDown, in his first appearance on the blue brand in close to a decade. The former World Champion held nothing back in his promo and referenced Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, and teased a confrontation with Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. CM Punk also gave a nod to his firing from AEW All In this past September.

Grayson Waller on CM Punk

CM Punk has had the wrestling world hooked on his every word and move, and Grayson Waller is also taking notice of the Best in the World. Speaking with Justin LaBar of Busted Open Radio, Waller was asked about the arrival of the ex-AEW star.

“It’s great to have Punk back because obviously he’s a big name, he’s a big star. I got to sit backstage at SmackDown last Friday and sit in the Gorilla position and watch him go out and talk. It’s a different vibe. For me personally, I’m not going to go and ask for advice and kiss his ar*e. That’s not who I am. But I am going to sit back and watch him do it and I’m going to take some notes in my head. That promo he did on Friday, especially hearing the live crowd and everything, was cool.”

Waller added that he met with Punk at SmackDown and also saw the Best in the World backstage at this week’s WWE NXT.

“I saw Punk backstage at SmackDown Friday and I’m going to leave it there. I don’t think anyone needs to know what that interaction was. Let’s just say, we talked.

“I was at NXT last night doing some stuff and he was there talking to all the young guys, giving them feedback, giving them advice. So he’s coming back and he’s doing everything he can to help. But Grayson Waller’s not that guy. I don’t wanna sit back and hear his advice. I don’t want to wear his merch shirt. I don’t want to put up a video of me at 12 years old telling Punk he’s the best. That’s not who I am.

Like Punk, Waller has impressed many on the mic, and would love to test his skills against Punk when the time is right.

“I want to test myself against him. Not just in the ring, but on the mic because that guy’s one of the best of all time… So I appreciate what you’ve done for the business, but I’m not here to be your fanboy, I’m here to be a competitor.”

More Backstage Talk

While we don’t know what Waller and Punk discussed, the Aussie wasn’t the only one Punk chatted with backstage. It has been reported that Punk was approached about appearing at NXT Deadline while attending SmackDown. The former AEW World Champion (donned in a Bret Hart hoodie) shared a segment with Shawn Michaels during the opening moments of the show.

Mick Foley Picks His Royal Rumble Winner Between Cody Rhodes And CM Punk

Mick Foley is hoping that Cody Rhodes will win Royal Rumble this year once again and finally finish his story.

It’s rare for WWE to have more than a month’s gap between two PLEs. This year, however, the company has chosen not to run any main roster PPVs in 2023 after Survivor Series, giving the 2024 Royal Rumble more time to build up stories.

The build-up for Royal Rumble includes many overlapping fueds. One such story is between CM Punk and Cody Rhodes, who are both looking to claim that ultimate WrestleMania spot by winning the Rumble.

During a recent appearance on The Bump, Mick Foley was asked who he would like to win the ultimate Battle Royal between these two. The WWE Hall of Famer explained that fans are ready for Cody to finally win the world title:

“I’d love to see Cody back in the main event picture. Yeah, I really would. I think that’s the perfect ending to his story. I know that fans were bitterly disappointed when Cody did not defeat Roman last year, but he went out on his own and he earned something more important than that WWE title. He earned the respect of all the naysayers.

Brock Lesnar will put you through the ringer. When Brock shook his hand, unexpected, he meant it. He meant it. He’s not a back-padder. He’s not a feel good, people person. He really respected Cody for surviving that and the fans respected it. So now they’re even more ready for Cody to claim that ultimate prize.”

Mick Foley Says Royal Rumble Is The Second Biggest PPV

mick foley cody punk 1

When asked for his advice for talents competing in the rumble, the Attitude Era star mentioned how he’s never won the match himself. Mick Foley, however, did explain that you can still create a memorable impression even if you don’t win the match:

“Let me tell you a quick story. My son Hughie when he was about five. He knew his dad had been a wrestler but he wasn’t alive when I was wrestling. He goes ‘Dad, were you ever in the Royal Rumble?’ I figured I’m gonna grab on to this. I said ‘Not only was I in it, I was in it three times in one night as three different characters,’ And without missing a beat. He looked at me and said, ‘And you still couldn’t win?’ I can’t tell you how to win the rumble.

I can tell you how to make a memorable impression in a rumble. It can only be one winner but that doesn’t mean we can’t have some memorable moments. It doesn’t mean that we can’t have one of the best nights of the year. My feeling is that five years running, I would say Royal Rumble became the second greatest show in WWE, all due respect to SummerSlam and the others.”

CM Punk Eyeing Leadership Role At WWE Performance Center

CM Punk recently spent time at the WWE Performance Center, receiving positive feedback. We previously reported that Punk was “holding court” at the WWE Performance Center. It appears that he really likes the setup, and he has his eye on a much bigger eventual opportunity in Orlando.

CM Punk’s appearance on NXT Deadline alongside Shawn Michaels was followed by an unanticipated visit to the Performance Center in Orlando after his participation in WWE Raw.

Despite not being scheduled for the show, Sean Ross Sapp reported on Fightful Select that CM Punk willingly engaged backstage, offering assistance, interacting with talent in the lounge, and providing feedback on matches. It was also reported that Punk moved around various areas, including gorilla and the tech crew’s vicinity.

Everyone that we’ve spoken to at the WWE Performance Center say that Punk has been a pleasure to deal with so far, and there was a lot of excitement around Punk being there.

Shawn Michaels had openly welcomed CM Punk to WWE, particularly to NXT, even before formal discussions took place. Sources close to Punk suggest he valued Michaels’ endorsement. According to WWE insiders, Punk is always welcome at the WWE Performance Center at his convenience.

The report from Fightful Select also noted that WrestlePurists’ Ibou, who is connected to sources close to CM Punk, revealed that Punk’s long-term aspiration is to eventually take over NXT leadership from the 58-year-old Shawn Michaels. However, WWE officials assert that such a transition is distant, with no current plans for Michaels to conclude his tenure in NXT.

Ibou also mentioned CM Punk’s interest in observing TV production, reminiscent of his practices in OVW, where he often sought Paul Heyman’s insights.

In recent days, CM Punk has been photographed with numerous NXT talents, creating a buzz within the wrestling community. Obviously, he feels right at home at the WWE Performance Center.

We can only imagine what the WWE Performance Center will be like if CM Punk takes a big leadership role. If anything, he certainly seems to be fitting in, and looking toward the future within the company.

Ryback Trolled By Taco Bell Employee Over Backing Out Of CM Punk Bet

CM Punk’s return to WWE shocked everyone, including Ryback. The Big Guy even proclaimed that he would retire from pro wrestling if Punk actually returned to WWE. That happened, but Ryback quickly took back that wager.

It appears that the legend of Ryback’s bet against CM Punk’s career is catching up to him. Now, the former Intercontinental Champion can’t even get something to eat without someone hounding him about this broken online promise.

Ryback’s Taco Bell Incident

Ryback shared on his YouTube channel, Ryback TV, a recent story about an incident at a Taco Bell. He explained his attempt to acquire food, but the situation soured when the employee, aware of his bet against CM Punk, wanted to do some trolling instead.

“I just had a horrible interaction with a Taco Bell employee. Probably the first real bad interaction I had with somebody, possibly ever. To order the food I got to the window. A woman took the order. This kid, I give him my card, and he’s literally into my car. Like not all the way into my window but like just staring at me. Like I give him my card and I go to grab my phone, I turn around and he’s just right in my face. He goes, ‘Big guy?’ I go, ‘Yeah.’ He says, ‘Probably live in Vegas,’ I go, ‘Yeah.’ He says, ‘You’re not retiring?’ I just look at him and I go, ‘What?’”

Ryback quickly realized that his little online wager about CM Punk’s WWE return followed him to this Taco Bell visit. The Big Guy said that this fan then demanded a photograph, which he didn’t get.

“He says ‘CM Punk’ and he has a little smirk on his face. He’s just trying to be a smartass and I go, ‘Alright, give me my food.’ He says, ‘Give me a picture,’ and I go, ‘No, give me my food.’ And this kid starts getting an attitude like ‘Oh, you’re mean’ and some other sh*t, and I just go off. Then this other chick comes and I tell her, ‘Get this f**king piece of sh*t away from me.’ Doesn’t even say, ‘Please can I have a picture?’ He just says, ‘Give me a picture.’”

CM Punk’s return was a huge secret, with only Triple H and Nick Khan really knowing before the world found out. WWE’s creative team didn’t even know Punk was returning, and those Superstars in the WarGames match were only informed right before they went out. Obviously, Ryback wasn’t smartened up before he bet his career.

Ryback is still waiting for a green light from his doctor, and he’s selling his Feed Me More Nutrition line while he’s at it. You can find out more about Ryback’s supplements by clicking here.

CM Punk ‘Holding Court’ At WWE Performance Center Today

WWE saw the return of CM Punk after so many were so certain that it wouldn’t happen. The Second City Savior jumped right into the new WWE culture, and it seems that he might dig the Performance Center setup in Orlando.

WWE boasts an Orlando facility for training Superstars, and it is full of talent trying to hone their skills. You never know who will stop by that facility, as The Undertaker, and others, have paid the building a visit in the past.

After being part of the NXT tapings last night, and NXT Deadline on Saturday, CM Punk stuck around in Orlando. Today, he revisited the Performance Center, engaging in training and discussions with talent.

PW Insider reported that CM Punk was around on December 13th at the WWE Performance Center, and he was speaking with talent. It seems that he may have had quite a gathering around him, with so many people wanting to hear what he had to say.

CM Punk is back at the WWE Performance Center today, training and holding court with NXT talents,

A lot of talent were reportedly excited about CM Punk being around the Performance Center today. Now, it seems that CM Punk may become a familiar face around WWE’s extravagant Orlando training facility.

While he was backstage at NXT, CM Punk did not make an appearance on the show. As NXT tapes next week’s show at the Performance Center tonight, the possibility is still out there.

CM Punk’s WWE return has been one surprise after another. Keep checking back with SE Scoops for more on whatever he has planned next.

CM Punk Was Working Wrestling Shows Long Before He Learned How to Compete

CM Punk’s decision to learn how to wrestle only came after he’d promoted and participated in multiple shows, Ace Steel has revealed.

Steel was the man who trained Punk and the pair have remained friends ever since. Steel was fired from AEW following the All Out 2022 backstage fight, only to be brought back to the company to coincide with Punk’s return from his suspension. After Punk was fired from AEW, Steel was also let go

Speaking on Wrestling with Rip Rogers, Steel recalled meeting Punk and how their friendship began.

“The long and short is they were backyarders running a promotion in Chicago and he inevitably ended up being a promoter because he was the most responsible of everybody. So his name was on the promoter license for Chicago, Illinois and they would run Outlaw shows if you want to call it that. They were drawing 800 people or so and we’re on the other side of town the legit wrestlers drawing f***ing 200. The real trained wrestlers were like ‘Oh those guys are garbage and they’re backyarders. They’re only filling the crowd with their family’. I’m like ‘800 family is coming to watch this? No, people are enjoying themselves.’

“He came to us to get trained. He walked and said ‘I need to actually [learn]. I really want to do this’. And so we became fast friends we are uh you know I I I enjoy the vices of the world and he has never enjoyed the vices of the world you know uh but we were always fast friends.”

Ace Steel on CM Punk’s Success

From these humble starts, CM Punk has gone on to become one of the most internationally recognized wrestlers in a generation. When asked if he ever saw this level of success for Punk, Steel admitted that he couldn’t have predicted how far his friend would go.

“No [I didn’t see him becoming as big a star as he has.] I don’t think you can because, especially at our level and to think about it back then like I just made the statement that I never thought I’d be in the WWF because I wasn’t big enough. Because it was the land of giants. And he didn’t– his body was pear-shaped at that point but to see him transform and the hard work he went through to transform his body. I remember a day the ring was down, we’re like All right we’re going to take everybody to the gym and show you guys how to work out. Obviously, some of you don’t use weights but he was all about it. ‘Let’s f***ing go!'”

While Steel didn’t predict the success Punk has seen, he acknowledged that the former WWE & AEW World Champion has always been able to make a connection with fans.

“His connection with the crowd though, undeniable. [He’s] always had that, even when he was doing the backyard stuff. That was the thing, he just had that in his head. He knew how to work the people.”

CM Punk & Seth Rollins Drew Huge Numbers with WWE Raw Confrontation

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins & CM Punk proved to be quite the draw during this week’s episode of Raw.

Since CM Punk’s return, Rollins has made it clear he’s not pleased to see the Best in the World back in WWE. Rollins’ reasoning is that for all of Punk’s talk about being ‘home’ the Chicago-Made wrestler had plenty of negative comments for WWE during his near-decade-long tenure away.

CM Punk and Seth Rollins Draw

On this week’s Raw, Punk and Rollins finally came face-to-face. Rollins warned Punk not to call WWE his home after spending 10 years trying to tear it down. Rollins also vowed to expose Punk as a fraud.

The segment between Punk and Rollins was by far the most-watched quarter-hour of this week’s episode of Raw, Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics reports. While Raw averaged 1.47 million viewers, the segment had 1.88 million viewers. Similarly, the segment did a 0.62 in the coveted 18-49 demographic, much higher than the show’s average of 0.46.

What’s Next for CM Punk?

CM Punk will make his return to the ring during the December 26, WWE live event in Madison Square Garden. In his first WWE match since January 2014, Punk will face ‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio and will face Dominik again at an event on December 30.

On this week’s Raw, Punk declared himself for the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match. Punk is considered a favorite to win the match as is the only other confirmed entrant: Cody Rhodes.

This segment saw a major change backstage compared to other Raw segments. Click here to find out more.

CM Punk is a game changer for WWE’s next TV deal

CM Punk’s return to WWE not only was a big-time moment for pro wrestling fans, but the business side of things too.

Since he ended his near 10-year hiatus from WWE, Punk has been a presence on every WWE program since with the exception of the December 4 Raw. He likely won’t be missing many more Monday nights as he officially signed on with the red brand to be a member of their roster.

During his promo on Raw, Punk cited the serendipity of being in Cleveland, OH, the very city where he left WWE back in 2014 at the Royal Rumble. However, CM Punk signing on with Raw has likely a little more business behind it than just coincidence.

“Things Are Changing Greatly”

Back in September, WWE and NBC Universal announced a 5-year media rights partnership that will bring SmackDown back to the USA Network in October 2024. WWE is currently shopping around the rights to carry WWE Raw and they’re expected to land another blockbuster deal.

We saw All Elite Wrestling launch an entire series around Punk back in June, AEW Collision. A lot has transpired since then, but Punk is once again a driving force in his home promotion scoring big money TV deals.

On Tuesday, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer noted on social media that “things are changing greatly” with WWE’s media rights negotiations. Punk is proving once again that he can drive business like very few can.

“Things are changing greatly. Let’s just say things changed greatly with Raw negotiations from a few weeks ago. And Punk is a huge part of the selling point.”

Punk has undoubtedly brought in the eyes and the bucks for WWE since his surprise comeback. After Survivor Series Punk’s first appearance back on Raw boosted viewership by nearly 30%. Additionally, the post on X announcing his return broke a social media record for WWE and perhaps most notably Punk has became an immediate merchandise mover.

The very night of Survivor Series, CM Punk’s new WWE merchandise sales found itself up into the six-figure tier.

CM Punk’s WWE return match has been announced. The Straight Edge Superstar will face Dominik Mystery on the upcoming holiday live events tour.

CM Punk vs Dominik Mysterio Set for Holiday WWE Live Events

Fans will see CM Punk compete in the ring later this month, in the Best in the World’s first match in WWE since his return at Survivor Series.

The former AEW World Champion returned to WWE in the closing moments of WWE’s most recent main roster PLE. The event marked Punk’s first WWE appearance since the 2014 Royal Rumble and his first appearance in wrestling since his AEW release in September of this year.

CM Punk Back in Action

On this week’s Raw, CM Punk declared himself for the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match, but he’ll be back in the ring far sooner than that.

Punk has been announced for matches on two upcoming shows – CM Punk will face ‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio at the December 26 event from Madison Square Garden and the December 30 event in Inglewood, California.

These won’t just be Punk’s first WWE matches in close to a decade, but will also be Punk’s first matches in months. The Best in the World’s most recent match saw him retain the ‘Real’ World Championship against Samoa Joe at AEW All In.

WWE Live – December 30

Punk’s first WWE match in close to a decade will be just one part of a stacked show. Other matches confirmed for the night include:

  • Seth Rollins (c) Vs. Drew McIntyre Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)
  • IYO SKY (c) Bianca Belair Vs. Charlotte Flair (WWE Women’s Championship.

Cody Rhodes was set to face ‘Dirty Dom’ in a Last Man Standing match at the event. It remains to be seen who Rhodes will face at the show with Dominik now facing CM Punk.

CM Punk is Ready to ‘Take Over the World’ Says Ex-UFC Champion

CM Punk is once again a WWE Superstar and is ready to take over the world of wrestling once more, according to Anthony Pettis.

The former AEW World Champion returned to WWE at the Survivor Series: WarGames 2023 Premium Live Event. The event marked Punk’s first WWE appearance since the 2014 Royal Rumble and his first appearance in wrestling since his AEW release in September of this year.

CM Punk is Ready to Take Over the World

CM Punk has made an impact since returning to WWE and fans can expect that the continue. Speaking with Sportskeeda, Anthony Pettis, a former UFC Lightweight Champion recalled meeting with Punk before Survivor Series and their interaction following the Best in the World’s return.

“I had CM Punk as a special guest on APFC, the weekend before they [WWE] announced his comeback. He didn’t say nothing about it. So we were hanging out in APFC chilling. Nate Diaz was there, Frank Mir was there, Rampage Jackson was there, Yair Rodriguez, we had a squad in walk. You know this is a dope event. And he didn’t say nothing about it bro.

“One of the most humblest guys you ever meet and one of the hardest-working guys you ever met. I was very excited for him. I text him right away and I think his response was ‘Let’s take over the world brother’ and I’m like ‘Yeah let’s go man!’ It’s awesome.”

What’s Next for CM Punk?

Punk’s intentions to ‘take over’ will seemingly result in the Chicago-Made star facing Seth Rollins. The reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion has made his issues clear with Punk’s return following the hostile comments Punk had for WWE during his nine-year absence. On this week’s Raw, Punk exclusively signed with the red brand and announced his participation in next month’s Men’s Royal Rumble match

Why CM Punk & Seth Rollins’ 11/12 WWE RAW Segment Had No Producer Listed

WWE RAW included a couple notable moments for CM Punk. Not only did he sign with the RAW brand, but he also declared his entry in the 2024 Royal Rumble match.

Sean Ross Sapp noted in a portions update on Fightful Select that CM Punk and Seth Rollins’ segment on WWE RAW was a bit special. They did not have any producer listed on the rundown sheet.

CM Punk and Seth Rollins’ promo did not have a producer listed.

Exclusive Insights on WWE Segments With No Producer

WWE segments will usually have a producer listed, whether it is a match or a promo. On rare occasions, promos are not listed with a producer’s name, because they are not needed.

I was told by sources within WWE that producers will sit on a headset backstage and call the segment, making sure that they accomplish their goal. When a promo is listed with no producer, that only means that there is no physicality needed for the segment.

Whether the physicality is moving from one point to another to hit a mark, or actually taking a bump, they need a producer for those segments. WWE doesn’t assign a producer for segments where there are no specific physical points to hit.

They actually did a lot in that contract signing segment on the December 11th episode of WWE RAW, one that included CM Punk’s showdown with Seth Rollins. It is a surprise that they didn’t have a producer listed, but they also had a seasoned producer, in Adam Pearce, in the thick of that segment.

WWE Superstars aren’t going out on live television without a net or lines prepared if they don’t have a producer listed for a segment. It only means that there were no specific things that they needed to do other than talk.

What’s next for CM Punk and Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins and CM Punk are likely to throw down in the future. It looks like CM Punk is determined to win the 2024 Royal Rumble match to get that spot if he has to. It will be interesting to see how CM Punk’s return changes WWE’s plan for WrestleMania.

Keep checking back with SE Scoops as we continue monitoring the upcoming road to WrestleMania. A lot of big things are likely to happen as they set the stage for the 40th showcase of the immortals.

WWE’s Reason For Not Giving CM Punk Closing Segment Of 12/11 RAW

CM Punk has been back in WWE since Survivor Series last month, and it’s been quite a ride since then. He has maintained momentum with frequent appearances across all WWE shows in recent weeks. While a significant part of RAW this week, he did not close out the show, and the reasoning behind this decision makes sense when it is explained.

Monday Night RAW’s latest episode left a lasting impression for several reasons, notably due to CM Punk engaging in a fiery promo segment with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Then he inked an exclusive deal with WWE RAW, solidifying his place in WWE.

Dave Meltzer spoke about this during Wrestling Observer Radio, where he discussed why CM Punk didn’t conclude the show. The decision was ultimately made to ensure the maximum audience saw Punk’s promo segment, leading to its placement at 9 o’clock.

”It’s the main event and they wanted a long main event, and that’s the thing they put on last. They didn’t put Punk’s decision on last which is interesting because Punk’s decision was the #1 thing. I think that the idea was they knew that even if they put Punk’s decision on last, even though that would hold more viewers better than this match, less viewers would see it. So they put the Punk decision on at 9 o’clock when they think they would get the highest, it’s usually the high point of the show. So they everybody to see the Punk decision.”

CM Punk also had his time cut during the main event segment of RAW after Survivor Series. He went on to make a quip about his time getting shortened during his SmackDown appearance later on.

It will be interesting to see what is in the future for CM Punk, but he will be doing it on the red brand. Obviously, he also has Seth Rollins in his sights, but he may have to win the Royal Rumble to get a shot at The Visionary’s World Heavyweight Championship.

CM Punk will be a good fit on RAW, as he continues carving out a new place for him in WWE. For more updates, please keep checking in with SE Scoops.

CM Punk Makes Big Royal Rumble Announcement During 12/11 WWE Raw

The 2014 Royal Rumble was the last WWE match that CM Punk has wrestled in. He was taken out early by Kane, and then he walked out of the company. Things have changed, but the Royal Rumble is still an incredible test for any Superstar.

CM Punk showed up on WWE RAW this week in Cleveland, and he had a big decision to make. He also made a huge announcement in the process directed at Seth Rollins.

CM Punk expressed that walking out of WWE was one of the toughest choices he had ever made. He declared that his future was beginning in Cleveland, aiming to rectify past mistakes.

CM Punk informed Adam Pearce that he is now the newest RAW Superstar, stating, “CM Punk is home.” Following this announcement, Seth Rollins entered the scene to engage in a promo confrontation with Punk.

After Seth Rollins cut a promo in CM Punk’s face, the Second City Savior took a moment to let those words settle. Then, Punk said that Rollins gets one free pass to disrespect him.

CM Punk then told Seth Rollins that he is entering the Royal Rumble, and when he wins, he just may come after Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Title.

We will keep our eye on this story here at SE Scoops. So far, the 2024 Royal Rumble has Cody Rhodes and CM Punk in the match, both entrants could have WrestleMania main events ahead of them.

CM Punk Declares WWE Raw His New Home Brand

CM Punk has appeared for every WWE brand since his shocking return at November 25th’s Survivor Series event. The time finally came for him to claim a brand home, and that’s exactly what happened during the December 11th episode of WWE RAW.

CM Punk has been busy in recent memory. He showed up at NXT Deadline, and then he was in Cleveland for RAW. The Second City Savior was all ready to deliver some big news about his brand home as RAW entered its second hour.

Adam Pearce said, “the time for a sales pitch is over.” CM Punk was there to make a big decision, and he did just that.

CM Punk said that he’s been thinking about his decision all week, and it has consumed him. Then he said that Cleveland hasn’t been historically kind to him, because there are some ghosts in that building for Punk. Then he told a story about debuting in that same building years ago.

Punk Signs With Raw

CM Punk said that taking himself “off the hamster wheel” was one of the hardest decisions he ever had to make. He showed up to Cleveland to right some wrongs as he said, “my future starts now.”

That is when CM Punk told Adam Pearce that he is the newest RAW Superstar. Now “CM Punk is home.” Right after that, Seth Rollins came out to get in Punk’s face for a promo.

What’s next for CM Punk on WWE RAW

Seth Rollins threw some big shots at CM Punk, as he reacted to fans chanting Punk’s name at a WWE live event. It appears that Punk and Rollins are destined to collide.

CM Punk is still a free agent internally, but this will keep him on the RAW brand for the time being. I was told that Punk is “assigned” to the RAW brand, despite his free agent status. It appears that he is kicking things off on the red team with a lot of momentum.

Internal word on Mercedes Mone/Sasha Banks possibly returning to WWE

Mercedes Mone has fans eagerly awaiting word on her next move in the world of pro wrestling.

The WWE Superstars formerly known as Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of the company together in May 2022, relinquishing their WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles in a defiant display aimed at Vince McMahon’s booking. They have both landed in other companies after that, and Trinity is now locked into a TNA Wrestling deal. That being said, Mercedes Mone’s contract status is a much more shrouded situation.

Triple H was asked by Ariel Helwani a few months ago if Sasha Banks’ return to WWE is a possibility. His response was, “Time will tell,” which left a lot to be interpreted, especially through his bearded grin.

Fans are still waiting for an official update about Mercedes Mone’s NJPW contract status. She was once thought to be a slam dunk for Tony Khan, as she showed up at AEW All In London. She remained seated during that brief appearance at Wembley Stadium, because she was still in a walking boot. That ankle injury was real, and she is just now approaching the end of that injury hiatus.

As the 2024 Royal Rumble looms closer on January 27th, some fans are hoping to see Sasha Banks make a return to WWE. With Triple H in control, anything is possible. During a recent episode of Keeping it 100, Konnan shared his view that ‘all roads lead back to WWE’ – especially for someone like ‘Sasha Banks’ – who achieved megastardom in WWE and then branched out in Hollywood.

“She’s a big megastar, looks professional, has worked on ‘The Mandalorian,’ … she’s from their system. I said this a couple of months ago, and I’m going to repeat it again — everybody comes back to WWE.”

Bayley also admitted that she “begs” Mercedes Mone every chance she can to make a WWE return. She also posted a photo of Mercedes alongside some Damage CTRL members recently, just to stir the pot even more.

Mercedes Mone Update (Exclusive)

I have spoken to sources within WWE who have confirmed to me on three separate occasions over the past 30 days that there are no contract talks between Mercedes Mone and WWE. The creative team is also not discussing any ideas for her return to the company. That being said, this is a much different time, especially how information flows within WWE.

I was told by a tenured member of the WWE team on December 12th that, “Sasha Banks’ name will only come up when there’s a deal.” Per one source, “There’s no deal, or no deal yet.”

CM Punk’s return during the closing moments of the 2023 Survivor Series premium live event in Chicago meant a lot more than a massive pop in the Allstate Arena. It also signified that anything is really possible in WWE right now, as Triple H has obviously thrown away the old way doing a lot of things.

CM Punk’s Road Back To WWE

In April 2023, CM Punk showed up to visit with people backstage during a WWE RAW in Chicago, but Vince McMahon had him removed. Punk was also under AEW contract at the time, but no report surfaced saying that had anything to do with the reason why Mr. McMahon didn’t want Punk around.

Triple H admitted in the press conference after Survivor Series that CM Punk’s deal came together after everyone already thought it was too late to work something out. I spoke to sources in the company during that time, and they confirmed time and time again that there were no talks, and the WWE creative team knew nothing.

CM Punk made his return to WWE, as a huge shock to the creative team as well. It’s anyone’s guess how WWE will play their hand with a possible Sasha Banks return, but it’s possible that we have another situation where only Nick Khan and Triple H are aware of the surprise before the big moment.

Punk’s return shows the door is wide open for Sasha Banks (or Mercedes Mone) to walk right through. This is also perfect timing for the Royal Rumble, an event that is always sure to include a surprise or two.

Keep checking back with us here at SE Scoops for more updates.

CM Punk Sells Astronomical Amount Of WWE Merchandise After His Return

CM Punk returned in shocking fashion during the closing moments of the 2023 Survivor Series premium live event. His comeback sparked a huge wave of fan support, and they are opening their wallets in a big way for his merchandise.

PW Insider noted that CM Punk moved a ton of merchandise on the night of his WWE return. It was stated that his merchandise moved into the six-figure rage on November 25th, the night of Survivor Series.

WWE only had one t-shirt out initially after CM Punk’s return at Survivor Series. It was a Survivor Series t-shirt that noted The Best In The World is back.

WWE Shop quickly filled up CM Punk’s merchandise category with more merchandise. At this time, they are selling plaques for his WWE return, a hoodie, and a few t-shirt options.

CM Punk merchandise is always a best seller at WWE Shop

Odds are, WWE will keep adding CM Punk merchandise to their official shop, because it is selling. CM Punk is proving once again that he is a merchandise mover, and the amount of tickets that move after his appearances are announced proves he also moves the needle.

CM Punk didn’t even have to wear any of his own merchandise at NXT Deadline. As he opted for a Bret “Hitman” Hart hoodie instead, Punk even teased Shawn Michaels about forgetting his HBK merch.

Keep checking back with us here at SE Scoops for more updates on CM Punk. At this point, anything is possible in WWE, and that could also call for some creative shifts as they make room for the Second City Savior on the WrestleMania 40 card.

Attorney Stephen New On Representing Ace Steel Following All Out Brawl

Stephen P New, the attorney for Ace Steel, has agreed with the ex-AEW producer’s stance that the line a colleague can often become part of a ‘family’.

Steel was on CM Punk’s side during the infamous All Out 2022 backstage fight, and was fired from AEW following an investigation. Steel was rehired by AEW to work with Punk for AEW Collision but on the proviso that Steel worked remotely and away from AEW events. After Punk’s contract was terminated following the backstage fight at AEW All In 2023, Steel was let go by the promotion

Stephen P. New on Ace Steel

In a recent interview, Ace Steel said that Punk is like family to him, and mentioned Stephen P. New as his attorney following the incident in September 2022. Taking to Twitter/X, New confirmed that he did indeed represent Steel following the All Out brawl and vouched for Steel as someone he could believe in.

In addition to Ace Steel, New is arguably best known for being the legal counsel to wrestling personality Jim Cornette throughout the years. He has also represented the Rock ‘N’ Roll Express and the Midnight Express over trademark issues in the past.

What’s Next for CM Punk?

CM Punk has since returned to WWE, close to a decade after his exit following the 2014 Royal Rumble. Punk will have to remain on his best behavior with reports that there is a ‘behavioral clause’ as part of his contract. So far, all reports about Punk’s conduct backstage since returning to WWE have been positive.

Monday Primer: CM Punk’s Choice, Winter Is Coming, Okada’s Future

Welcome to Monday Primer, our Monday morning feature that lays out what’s on tap for the week ahead in the world of professional wrestling. Get caught-up on what’s trending and what to expect from the world’s top wrestling promotions.

Here are some of the top stories in wrestling we’re tracking as we start the week:

CM Punk’s Decision

Fresh off an appearance on SmackDown and NXT last week, CM Punk returns to Raw tonight to make a decision on his future brand as a “free agent.”

With Orton having signed with SmackDown recently, it would be stunning for Punk to choose anything other than Raw. Well, and also because he’s going to be on Raw to announce his decision. Plus, there’s the fact that he’s got this storyline with Seth Rollins that seems destined for a title match at either the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania.

AEW Continental Classic Rolls On

AEW’s Continental Classic continues to be a bright spot for the promotion, with a stellar edition of Collision (and Rampage) closing last week. This week’s edition of Dynamite includes one particularly spicy matchup, as Swerve Strickland takes on Jon Moxley in the Gold League.

Brody King, Bryan Danielson, and Andrade El Idolo are currently tied at the top of the Blue League with 6 points each. Swerve and Moxley are tied at the top of the Gold League with 9 points each, making this Wednesday’s match between them very noteworthy.

Charlotte Flair Injury

Charlotte Flair appeared to tweak her knee during a match on Friday night SmackDown with Asuka.

Since that time, it’s been reported that Flair has been pulled from all live events this week. It’s not known to what extent she is injured, though obviously it is severe enough for her to take some time off. We will keep monitoring the story closely.

Kazuchika Okada’s Future

One of the biggest wrestling stars of this generation in Japan, Kazuchika Okada, will reportedly become a free agent in early 2024 and will test the waters when it comes to negotiating with both WWE and AEW.

Okada has been announced to appear at TNA Snake Eyes, though we don’t know anything more about his future beyond that. Some have been speculating about a possible Royal Rumble appearance, though there’s nothing more than rumors to report on that front.

Whatever Okada chooses, whether it is coming to the U.S. or staying put in NJPW, will have ramifications for both AEW and WWE moving forward.

Ace Steel Is Overflowing With Pride After CM Punk’s WWE Return

CM Punk and WWE were not talking about a return to the company for the Second City Savior, but it happened. Triple H revealed during the press conference after Survivor Series that talks didn’t start until everyone thought it was too late to make it happen. Ace Steel wasn’t in the building for Punk’s WWE return, but he is certainly proud of his old student.

The backstory behind Ace Steel and CM Punk

Ace Steel was fired from AEW after he was involved in Brawl Out last year, where he reportedly bit Kenny Omega’s arm during the altercation. Although rehired and working remotely after Punk’s return, he faced dismissal again shortly after CM Punk’s firing from AEW.

During a conversation on the Wrestling with Rip Rogers podcast, Ace Steel discussed CM Punk’s return to WWE after an extended absence. He expressed pride in The Second City Savior.

“I’m very proud of my number one student that I’ve ever coached in the world for heading back to show the world who the f*ck he is… The reason people hate him or whatever is he’s not about the bullsh*t, and the guy doesn’t take sh*t, and he doesn’t take it lightly. And when you’ve had enough sh*t, you either explode, or you take care of business yourself, and you defend yourself.”

Ace Steel was hired by Impact Wrestling after his AEW release. This was a deal that TNA Wrestling was actually thinking about for Steel without any consideration that it may draw CM Punk into the company. Now, Steel is employed with Impact, but he is still paying close attention to Punk in WWE.

CM Punk’s future in WWE

We will have to see what is next for CM Punk. He will choose his brand home during the December 11th episode of WWE RAW. Only time will tell what kind of noise he makes from this point on, but he has a lot of people watching, and some are proud of what he’s doing.

CM Punk also dropped a big hint about facing both Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. We will have to see what WWE has in store for him, but Punk is certainly on top of the company, with a WrestleMania main event in his sights.

Seth Rollins Shuts Down CM Punk Chants At WWE Live Event: “Who’s That?”

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins has made it clear who the best in the world is, and it isn’t CM Punk.

Although many have been pleased to see Punk back in WWE, Seth Rollins is not among them. Rollins had an explosive reaction to Punk’s return at Survivor Series, and has made it clear on WWE programming that he takes issue with Punk’s comeback. This week, Rollins explained his beef with Punk, citing the many negative comments Punk made about Seth and WWE during his near-decade-long absence.

Seth Rollins Shuts Down CM Punk Chant

Despite Rollin’s points about Punk, fans have gravitated to the Chicago-Made wrestler. At last night’s WWE live event in Utica, New York, Rollins had some comments for the fans who were chanting Punk’s name.

“Excuse me, who’s that? Who’s that? Serious question, was that guy on the show here tonight? Yeah, no. Hey, maybe, one of these days he’ll grow a set and he’ll come up here to Utica, New York. And look, he’s the best in the world, right? In all seriousness, *raises World Heavyweight Championship* I’m the friggin’ best in the world. Because every single town, every single night, no matter the opponent, I show up and I show out!”

Punk and Rollins are expected to feud in due time, with some pointing at a possible collision at WrestleMania 40. WWE also has plans for Punk to feud with Roman Reigns and some in WWE are optimistic that a match between Punk and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin could happen

Watch CM Punk & Cora Jade Reunite Years After Emotional Fan Encounter

NXT Superstar Cora Jade has reunited with CM Punk, years after the pair met for the first time back when Jade was just a fan.

Punk helped kick off last night’s NXT Deadline event with an in-ring segment with NXT head Shawn Michaels. Punk grabbed a selfie with the Showstopper and teased signing with NXT instead of Raw or SmackDown on the main roster.

Cora Jade and CM Punk Reunite

WWE NXT Deadline also saw the return of Cora Jade, who appeared during the show to attack reigning NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria. Recently, a video went viral of a young Jade, years before she joined WWE, being overcome with emotion at meeting CM Punk. During a backstage interview with Jade, Punk made sure that the former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion knows he is proud of how far she has come.

Here is the clip of Jade meeting Punk back before she became a WWE NXT Superstar.

While Punk didn’t mention Jade by name during his WWE NXT Deadline appearance, the former AEW & WWE World Champion did say that there had been some wrestlers backstage who spoke about growing up watching Punk in the ring.

What’s Next?

Based on what happened at Deadline, it’s clear that Jade has her sights set on Lyra Valkyria and the NXT Women’s Championship. With that said Blair Davenport has a guaranteed shot at the champion due to winning the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge. As for CM Punk, he will announce on next week’s Raw which brand he will be signing with.

What did those backstage make to CM Punk being at WWE NXT Deadline? Click here to find out.

Backstage Reaction to CM Punk at WWE NXT Deadline Event

CM Punk made quite the impact at last night’s WWE NXT Deadline event and had quite the reaction from those backstage.

The Best in the World appeared in the opening moments of the show and was part of a segment with Shawn Michaels. Punk, donned in a Bret Hart hoodie, shared a fun segment with Michaels, and took a selfie with the two-time WWE Hall of Famer.

Shawn Michaels & ‘Suck It’

Michaels kicked off Deadline with a DX-esque promo, before Punk interrupted the NXT creative head. Punk asked Michaels if he was going to say ‘Suck It’ and Punk later asked if that was something he could no longer say.

This interaction between the two has raised questions as to whether WWE can use those words for D-Generation X members moving forward. Haus of Wrestling reports that Michaels is allowed to say ‘Suck It’ on WWE TV, but it likely just did not fit the moment. It was also pointed out that ‘Suck It’ is usually kept for the end of a DX promo and that Punk and Michaels were just getting started.

CM Punk’s Backstage Reaction

Punk was at the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, CT for most of the day and was described as being “great around everyone”. Triple H was also at the event and the pair had “legit” very good reactions. Sources have indicated that Punk has continued to talk about how happy he is and that he’s looking to keep riding this wave he’s on. Punk’s appearance on the show caught many off guard. Despite him teasing an appearance at Deadline in the hours before the show, it seems like his presence at the event was not well-known by some at Deadline before they saw him backstage.

CM Punk Opens WWE NXT Deadline With Surprise Appearance

CM Punk shocked the WWE Universe when he returned at Survivor Series. He was on the December 8th episode of SmackDown, where he made an interesting remark about linking up with Shawn Michaels before he made his way to RAW next week. Fans didn’t have to wait long to see him on Deadline.

It was previously reported that CM Punk missed his flight, so he was in town for Deadline. That appearance was certainly a notable one.

Shawn Michaels opened the NXT Deadline premium live event, and he took the ring with a lot of energy. Then he asked fans if they are ready, and that is when CM Punk’s music hit.

CM Punk joined Shawn Michaels in the ring, and it was quite an experience. The two took a moment and even joked about the fact that Punk was wearing a Bret “Hitman” Hart hoodie. CM Punk said he forgot his HBK merch at home.

The two took a selfie together in the ring, because CM Punk said that people were taking pictures with him backstage all day, while they told him that he is their hero. Punk said it was only fitting that they snap that selfie in the ring with one of his own heroes.

CM Punk hyped his decision about which brand he will sign with on the December 11th episode of WWE RAW. Fans were very excited to see him open up Deadline, no matter which brand he ends up with on Monday.

Shawn Michaels and CM Punk were all smiles as they closed out the segment. This was a short opening for Deadline, but it certainly popped the crowd to see the Second City Savior and the Heartbreak Kid in the ring together.

CM Punk Teasing An Appearance at Tonight’s WWE NXT Deadline

Could CM Punk make an appearance at tonight’s WWE NXT Deadline event? It’s possible according to the Best in the World.

WWE NXT Deadline will take place at the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, CT, and will be NXT’s final major event of the year. This will be the second-annual NXT Deadline event and like last year’s show, will feature the Iron Survivor Challenge.

CM Punk at WWE NXT Deadline?

WWE NXT Deadline is set to feature some of the very top talent from the gold brand, and could also feature CM Punk. On Instagram, Punk said that a missed flight meant he’s currently in Bridgeport and asked if fans have any idea what he should do. To hammer the point home, WWE’s free agent posed in front of a giant Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Punk’s last appearance at an NXT event came following an episode of the gold brand in August 2012. In a dark match, Punk (the WWE Champion at the time) teamed with then-NXT Champion Seth Rollins to defeat Antonio Cesaro and Kassius Ohno, who teamed for years prior to WWE as the Kings of Wrestling. You can check out Punk’s most recent NXT appearance below.

WWE NXT Deadline

Here is the card for WWE NXT Deadline as it currently stands:

  • Axiom vs. Nathan Frazer (Kick-Off Show)
  • Dijak vs. Trick Williams vs. Josh Briggs vs. Bron Breakker vs. Tyler Bate (Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge)
  • Tiffany Stratton vs. Lash Legend vs. Blair Davenport vs. Kelani Jordan vs. Fallon Henley (Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge)
  • “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio (c) (with Rhea Ripley) vs. Dragon Lee (with Rey Mysterio) (WWE NXT North American Championship)
  • Roxanne Perez vs. Kiana James
  • Carmelo Hayes vs. Lexis King
  • Ilja Dragunov (c) vs. Baron Corbin (WWE NXT Championship)

Wes Lee was supposed to compete at NXT Deadline, but that is no longer the case. Click here to find out why.

CM Punk Appearance Creates Ticket Sales Boom For 12/11 WWE RAW

WWE fans are very interested in CM Punk’s next move, as he carves out a new place for himself in the company’s storylines. The WWE Universe wants to see what CM Punk is going to do next in WWE, and they won’t have to wait long until his next big move. Tickets are also moving fast, because fans want to see him make that decision live.

CM Punk’s WWE comeback has made a notable impact on ticket sales. Punk’s surprise return at Survivor Series set the stage for an anticipated feud with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. This was a feud that Punk strongly hinted at during the November 8th episode of WWE SmackDown.

Despite criticism that WWE cut CM Punk’s promo time during his last RAW appearance, fans are still very excited to see what he has to say next week. He will be on RAW next week to declare his new brand home, signing with either RAW or SmackDown. Punk also made a quip about how he is going to speak with Shawn Michaels about NXT.

For the upcoming December 11th episode of RAW, WWE has already advertised matches like Cody Rhodes vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Drew McIntyre vs. Jey Uso, with more expected. Of course, CM Punk’s big decision will highlight the night.

WrestleTix reports that the December 11th episode of WWE RAW has already sold 8,283 tickets, with 916 still available for a setup of 9,199. Notably, in the last six days since WWE announced Punk’s appearance, 1,511 tickets were sold.

WWE Monday Night Raw, Mon Dec 11 at 7:30pm, Rocket Mortgage Field House, Cleveland, OH

Available Tickets => 916

Current Setup => 9,199

Tickets Distributed => 8,283

+1,511 since the last update (6 days ago). Big movement here. The upper decks have been opened up.

It was also noted that the last time WWE played the Rocket Mortgage Field House, on June 19th, 2023, they drew 10,495 fans. We will have to see if they are able to beat that number. That being said, their current setup for this time around doesn’t seem to be higher than their previous number.

CM Punk’s return has reignited fan interest and boosted ticket sales, confirming his influence in professional wrestling. Unlike in Albany for the December 4th RAW, where they moved a ton of tickets after Punk’s return, and he didn’t appear, the Second City Savior has been announced for the December 11th show.
