TNA Negotiating With Someone That Would Reportedly “Shock People”

TNA President Dixie Carter has apparently told several people to expect a “major announcement” in the near future. While some may believe that the announcement will be a new television deal for the company, that may not be the case.

There has been some claims that TNA has been negotiating with a talent that would reportedly “shock people.” It’s said that if it comes to fruition, the new signing would create a buzz around TNA, however no one seems to know who the talent is.

We can confirm that the person is not CM Punk or Mick Foley.

  • Update TNA Reportedly Making An Offer To CM Punk

On Wednesday, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported that TNA recently made a lucrative offer to CM Punk similar to the money Hulk Hogan was being paid by the promotion a few years ago.

Since then, Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com reached out to sources in TNA, who told him there was no truth the story. “No offer was made, officially or via an intermediary – no truth to that rumor.”

People close to Punk are saying that he currently has no interest in returning to pro wrestling, much less for TNA.

There were also reports over the weekend that CM Punk was hanging out in the locker room at a live event for Ohio Valley Wrestling. While Punk was at the show (as a guest of Cliff Compton), he was not in the locker room and was not socializing with the wrestlers there. Punk was there to visit OVW owner Danny Davis.

TNA Reportedly Tried To Sign CM Punk, Details On What They Had Planned

TNA apparently made a play recently for CM Punk. It was said to be done in similar fashion to how they reached out to Alberto Del Rio, which is through an intermediary who is friends with Punk.

The idea was that Punk would be the top star of the company with pay similar to what Hulk Hogan was making when he was with the promotion.

TNA was hoping that Punk could be their flagship star and if he signed with them, could help them get a strong television deal.

Punk reportedly expressed zero interest in working for TNA, or in pro wrestling in general.

Ranking Every Hell in a Cell Pay-Per-View

Once an occasional treat for the WWE Universe, the Hell in a Cell match has become a yearly event since the introduction of the eponymous pay-per-view in 2009. Since its inception, the company has yet to truly knock it out of the park with Hell in a Cell, although fans have witnessed some memorable moments.

This year, it will be either John Cena or Dean Ambrose headlining the event against Seth Rollins inside the most ominous structure in sports entertainment. As the company builds up its next pay-per-view, here is a look back at the first five Hell in a Cell events.

    5. 2012

    20120920_hiac_ARTICLE

This event really didn’t have a pay-per-view feel to it. The undercard was primarily filled with forgettable matches that had little impact on future storylines. The main event was also lacking due to injury.

It was clear that the company had no idea what to do after John Cena went down to injury, leading to Ryback receiving a premature main event push. From top to bottom, this event was lacking and easily locks up the honor of being the worst Hell in a Cell pay-per-view to date.

Main Event: CM Punk vs. Ryback (Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE Championship)

Best Match: Big Show vs. Sheamus

Worst Match: Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara vs. The Prime Time Players

5 Potential Opponents for Steve Austin

Over the past few weeks, the WWE has gone all out in promoting Stone Cold Steve Austin. The company has promoted Austin’s podcast on a weekly basis, and reports indicate that the company is ramping up production on all Stone Cold merchandise.

When coupled with recent statements from Austin claiming he still has a final run left and reports alleging that he has been training for one final match, it seems like the Texas Rattlesnake will soon make his return to the squared circle. The only problem, however, would be choosing Austin’s opponent. Here are five potential opponents for Stone Cold Steve Austin if he decides to make his return.

    5. Brock Lesnar

    0b13cf9fb05ed647966a8b26ccc5f901

It appears that Lesnar is being saved for WrestleMania, where he will undoubtedly be fed to Roman Reigns. However, there is always a chance for a setback in Roman’s recovery. Most believe that it will be at least another month or two before Reigns returns, so the slightest setback could derail the company’s WrestleMania plans.

This could open the door for Austin to come in and challenge Lesnar. There is a decent story in place if the company decides to discuss Austin walking out in the early 2000s because he was not on board with putting Lesnar over. In all, this could be a blockbuster main event between two of the biggest stars in WWE history.

Mick Foley Talks About CM Punk’s WWE Future

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley posted the following on Facebook this week, questioning whether CM Punk will ever return to the company:

    PUNK IN THE FUTURE?

Is there a future for CM Punk in #WWE? I have always liked Punk (seen here with me backstage at a 1995 UK event) and respected the way he marched to the beat of his own drummer. While there is part of me that thinks we have seen the last of Punk in the world of sports -entertainment, I can’t help but wonder if that beat he marches to will lead him straight to a huge event at #Wrestlemania.

Certainly, his promos alone would make WWE Monday Night Raw must-see TV, and the mere prospect of seeing an angry Punk, with a chip on his shoulder, could create any number of scenarios for memorable Mania match ups.

Only Punk knows for sure…and he’s not talking.

What do you see in the future for #CMPunk? Is he gone forever? Or will he return in memorable fashion?

  • Memphis Legend Appears At RAW, WWE Mutes Fan Reaction To CM Punk

    – Memphis wrestling legend Lance Russell was backstage at Monday’s RAW. Prior to the start of the show, Jerry Lawler, who worked closely with Russell throughout much of his career, brought him out in front of the crowd for a quick segment.

    – For whatever this is worth, during part one of the WWE 2K15 roster reveal after RAW on the WWE Network on Monday night, the reaction to CM Punk was muted on the broadcast. Steve Austin and Renee Young, who hosted the event, would reveal various Superstars as being part of the game, each of which would get varying reactions from the fans in attendance, however when Punk was shown, there was absolutely no reaction.

    – WWE has now completely removed any and all CM Punk merchandise from their WWE Shop website. As noted, Punk’s lawyers sent WWE a 22-page legal letter regarding royalties owed from merchandise sales that included his likeness.

    – Speaking of merchandise, Sting items are being sold at WWE live events. Sting has a merchandise contract with WWE and as noted several times in the past, many expect him to work a match at next year’s WrestleMania in Santa Clara, California in what would could be his one and only WWE in-ring appearance ever.

WWE Publicly Acknowledges CM Punk’s Departure

In a new article on the WWE website that looks at John Cena’s ten biggest rivals, the company finally acknowledged and confirmed CM Punk’s departure from the promotion. Below is an excerpt from the feature that details the portion related to Punk.

“It takes a bold, bold man to call himself The Best in the World without any hint of showmanship to it. CM Punk was nothing if not bold. The self-appointed heir apparent to Cena as the face of professional wrestling, Punk’s agitation over being passed over festered into an earth-shattering “pipe bomb” that took Cena, the McMahons, and the institution of sports-entertainment itself to task. He then promptly won Cena’s WWE Title and gallivanted off into retirement, but you probably don’t need Wikipedia to know The Straight Edge Superstar couldn’t stay away for long. He eventually came back to further challenge Cena’s dominance and beat him more often than not. These two were having classic matches for years after that initial clash. Perhaps the greatest disappointment in Punk’s untimely departure is knowing they definitely had a few more in them.”

You can check out the complete article at WWE.com.

Last week, WWE removed the remaining CM Punk merchandise from the WWEShop online store. As noted earlier, a search for “CM Punk” now brings up an error message, asking the user if they meant to search for “CM Pink.”

Dolph Ziggler On If CM Punk Will Return To WWE, Sting/WWE, Lesnar’s Schedule

The following are highlights of a new CBS Cleveland interview with Dolph Ziggler:

Will Dolph Ziggler be billed from Cleveland now that The Miz is billed from Hollywood: “That is in the works. I don’t know that it’s going to happen but I have pushed for it before and now it kind of makes sense and there’s a chance for it. As of now it’s Hollywood, Florida so we’ll see”

His thoughts on the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar not being on Raw every week: “Eight years ago, it would have made me really mad with Rock coming back and guys who come back just for WrestleMania. It’s a two part story. It makes me so mad that we can’t do a show without those guys. But here’s the business side: we need those guys to get eyes on a show that normally wouldn’t get them so you can see these up and coming guys so one day down the line in twenty years when I’m doing something else and they say “Hey we need you to get on this card so we can highlight these twenty other guys who are up and coming”. It’s a circle of life and a circle of business. If they weren’t making money, they wouldn’t keep doing it.”

Who is next for Lesnar? “The way he beat up Cena is something I’ve never seen before in our business so it makes you want to see who the hell is going to beat this guy. Who can?”

His thoughts on Sting coming to WWE: “Just watching that commercial for 2K15 the first time it debuted, we were all like “Oh, is this the thing?!”. We were backstage and we crowded around the monitor to see a one second thing where they showed his mask and everyone flipped out because it’s that big of a deal. There are so few special things left that haven’t happened in this business so having Sting coming back no matter what he does, or if he comes back, just to have him show up one night would just blow the roof off for us backstage and for the fans of course.”

Does he believe CM Punk when he says he will “never ever” be back in a wrestling ring? “I’ve always been told to never say never in this business or “this guy will never work here” but yet here they are. So you never know. So far of all the nevers I’ve ever heard none of them have ever stuck but you never know.”

As reported earlier, WWEShop.com has been dumping all remaining CM Punk merchandise at deep discount. The move is believed to be a reaction to . Punk’s lawyer sending WWE a 22-page letter about royalties and Punk being featured in the upcoming WWE 2K15 video game.

All of the Punk merchandise has now sold out. Searching WWEShop for “CM Punk” brings up the following screen:

Rey Mysterio Undergoes Knee Operation, More On CM Punk/WWE Legal Issues

    – Rey Mysterio recently underwent stem cell procedures on his knees. As of right now, considering he hasn’t wrestled for months, Mysterio’s knees, which have caused him problems for years, are said to be in good shape for a change.

    – As noted earlier today, WWE has removed most of CM Punk’s merchandise off of their WWE Shop website and with the four items they are still pushing, they have drastically decreased the prices. The belief is that this is indeed a reaction from WWE in regards to the 22-page legal letter that Punk’s lawyers sent them. Apparently WWE is trying to get rid of as much Punk merchandise inventory as quickly as possible right now, regardless of profit.

Attorneys for CM Punk reportedly sent a 22-page letter to WWE over royalties and use of his likeness, specifically him being featured in the WWE 2K15 video game.

The belief is WWE stopped sending Punk royalty money over their claim that he breached his contract when he walked out on the company at the beginning of the year.

As far as Punk’s inclusion in the new WWE video game, apparently the roster for the game was put together before he quit the promotion, even though it was just announced two weeks ago.

Hornswoggle Says The Rock Confused Him With “Make-A-Wish” Kid, Talks Vince & More

The following are highlights of a new Alternative Nation interview with Hornswoggle:

On a backstage conversation he had with The Rock: “I told him, ‘I met you backstage the night you came back in [Anaheim], when you were revealed as the guest host for WrestleMania, and you thought I was a Make a Wish kid. You tapped me on the shoulder and said, ‘Did you have a good time tonight buddy?’ Then you walked off and you realized it, then you said to Big Show, ‘Hornswoggle thinks I thought he was a Make a Wish kid, and I did think he was.’”

On the Vince McMahon son angle: “I did that for about three months, where I was his son, maybe longer, and there were days in the beginning where I would go, ‘Oh my god, I’m working with the most powerful man in wrestling.’ Then I realized that he’s joking around, he’s playing ribs on guys more than I am. You just realize that he is this billionaire, but still just loves this business. When it comes to wrestling, I use that word instead of sports entertainment, I use wrestling all the time, because I am a wrestling fan. CM Punk once said this is still wrestling to us, this isn’t sports entertainment to us, because we grew up on wrestling.”

On Finlay: “My old buddy, my ‘Dad’ Dave Finlay. He’s still working backstage as an agent and producer, and he has helped me more than anybody else in this company. He has gone to bat for me more times that he probably wanted to, and that’s because he literally cares about me as a son.”
