Big Boom A.J. Confirms Full Gear Injury, Future With AEW

Big Boom A.J. has confirmed that he suffered an injury during his Full Gear match but announced that he is not done with wrestling just yet.

The TikTok star posted a video addressing the news first reported by Fightful Select. He noted that he was able to finish the match despite the injury because of the adrenaline of being back in the ring and in front of the crowd:

“The story is out there. I did break my foot in the ring Saturday night. I think it happened somewhere right around the flying clothesline. But you know, the adrenaline was kicking.

Everyone at the Prudential Center was bringing the boom. I had big justice in my corner, the rizzler right there. Of course, Ashley, Mama justice, Whole family right there. So I guess that adrenaline kicked in and I was able to finish the match.”

The Costco Guys Are All Elite

Tony Khan had extended the invitation to AJ to return to AEW after his match. The former indie wrestler confirmed during the video that he’ll be returning to the ring for the company after his recovery. He teased involvement with the wrestling promotion during his rehab as well:

“I have been in touch with Tony Khan today, also with the other executives at AEW, and I will be coming back. I will be back in the ring again. Do not worry about that.

Big Boom AJ has about a six-to-eight-week recovery here, but then I will be back in the ring again. I will be doing a few things with AEW during that time. So stay tuned. We got some real fun stuff coming your way.”

Big Boom went on to thank everyone at AEW who allowed to him to be part of the show after he had not been in the ring for 20 years. He said that both him and Big Justice are ‘All Elite’ and they’ll be back in the ring very soon.

Tony Khan Invites Big Boom A.J. Back to AEW Following Full Gear Win

Tony Khan has extended the invitation to Big Boom! A.J. to return to AEW.

The TikTok star and one-half of The Costo Guys participated in the post-Full Gear 2024 media scrum after picking up a victory over QT Marshall during the PPV pre-show.

AJ, real name Andrew Befumo had previously announced that he had signed a one-match deal with the company but claimed that he was open to more opportunities if they came along.

The 48-year-old was asked what he thought about potentially returning to the company during the scrum, and the former indie wrestler said that he’d love to be back if he’s welcomed back:

“I love it here. I do. I love it here. I loved every minute of this. If I’m welcomed back, I’m going to be back and I’m going to bring the Boom!”

The AEW president Tony Khan who was sitting beside the social media star quickly extended an invitation saying that Befumo was welcomed back to his company.

While many fans initially questioned the involvement of the Costo Guys in an AEW story, the social media stars have proven their worth with all the buzz their involvement has generated for the promotion.

The duo of A.J. & Big Justice even brought in The Rizzler as a backup for their Full Gear encounter who got one of the biggest pops of the night. You can check out the reactions to Rizzler’s appearance here.

Tony Khan Talks Appealing To Casual Fans With Costco Guys Involvement

AEW may be considered a more ‘hardcore’ wrestling product compared to its rivals in WWE, but Tony Khan isn’t afraid to cater to the casual fan. During AEW Full Gear’s Ground Zero pre-show, fans saw A.J. Befumo of the viral Costco Guys take on QT Marshall. While Befumo does have wrestling experience, he is better known for his TikTok videos, in an example of AEW appealing to an audience wider than die-hard wrestling fans.

Speaking on the Full Gear post-show media scrum, Khan was asked about Befumo’s match and appealing to the more casual fans. Making light of a previous interview where he called AEW for “sickos,” Khan said he had no issue catering to a more lax audience.

“I love reaching the casual fan… I’m a sicko wrestling fan but I care about the casual wrestling fan. I care about anybody who watches wrestling.”

Khan shared how he got into wrestling in a casual manner, as his introduction to the industry came through Sgt. Slaughter’s role on G.I. Joe. Khan had been unaware that Slaughter was a wrestler before the show, and said that a guest appearance by Hulk Hogan on the A-Team turned Khan onto watching wrestling.

Returning to the present, Khan suggested that bringing the Costco Guys on board may help some people get more into pro wrestling.

“I do believe that there’s going to be some kids and some young people and fans of all ages that probably have not watched a lot of wrestling that really liked Big Boom A.J, Big Justice, and The Rizzler.”

Khan also had some choice words for detractors of bringing the trio in, and believes their negativity may not just be about AEW appealing to casual fans.

“If anybody has anything negative to say about those guys, maybe they just have a negative outlook on a lot of things in life.”

Befumo also spoke on the media scrum with Khan inviting the wrestler/TikTok sensation to come back to AEW anytime he can. In the meantime, Khan won’t back down on appealing to casual audiences and continuing the tradition that got him into wrestling in the first place.

QT Marshall is Ready For ’20 Years in the Making’ Match with A.J. of Costco Guys

QT Marshall’s upcoming match with Andrew ‘A.J.’ Befumo of the Costco Guys has been two decades years in the making for the AEW wrestler. Speaking to RJ City on the latest Hey(EW!), Marshall discussed the much-anticipated match and what it’ll do for his career in the ring.

“I’ve known A.J. for 20 years and I knew that if I could convince him to step back in the ring, that it would be a major spotlight for me. I could exploit him to for my own personal game. When I came back to AEW Tony [Khan] and I spoke about me not wrestling and I, you know, I do a dark match every here and there but I knew this would really help me out.”

Befumo and Marshall will face off on the AEW Full Gear 2024 pre-show after Befumo signed a one-match deal with the promotion. A.J. and his son Big Justice were part of the AEW All Out Zero Hour show, while Marshall took their feud to the next level by powerbombing A.J. at CCW Bash 45 last month.

A.J. is no stranger to the world of professional wrestling as he worked until 2005 as ‘The American Powerhouse’ Eric Justice, the namesake for Big Justice. Until his TikTok popularity exploded, A.J. had been working full-time as a regional manager for a nationwide mortgage-lending company. The upcoming match has transcended the world of wrestling media and was discussed when the Costco Guys recently appeared on Jimmy Fallon.

The father-son duo have become viral sensations this year with their charismatic reviews of food products from Costco. With over 1.3 million followers on TikTok, there’ll be no shortage of fans interested to see how A.J. performs in the ring when he takes on QT Marshall. Costco Guy AJ vs. QT Marshall Set For AEW Full Gear

AEW has confirmed a new match for Full Gear, its upcoming pay-per-view event, featuring AJ Befumo—a former indie wrestling standout—returning to the ring to take on QT Marshall. Befumo, one of the breakout stars of 2024, will make his comeback during Full Gear’s pre-show. This follows his recent signing of a one-match deal with AEW, where he challenged Marshall to face him on the big stage.

In a newly released promo, Marshall responded to Befumo’s challenge with a clear message: “You wanted to do this for free on the Zero Hour, in front of all your friends and family. Well, AJ, just because you think that New Jersey is your hometown — I got another thing coming for you,” Marshall said. “New Jersey, I was born. New Jersey, I was raised. And in New Jersey, at Full Gear, I’m going to beat you. I’m going to embarrass you. I’m going to prove to you that 20 years ago when you walked away from professional wrestling and passed the torch to me, QT Marshall, you made the absolute right decision. And I’m going to send you back to TikTok land. I’m going to embarrass you in front of your friends, your family, in front of Big Justice. Because, AJ, you’re going to bring the boom—but QT Marshall is going to bring the doom.”
