Former WWE Superstar Re-signs, Daniel Bryan’s NXT Debut A Hit

— In light of news of Domino appearing at last week’s Florida Championship Wrestling television taping, it has been confirmed that WWE has re-signed the former tag team champion.

Though he came out to his former Deuce ‘n Domino entrance music, he performed under his real name of Cliff Compton not to mention it was openly acknowledged that he was Domino as opposed to a newcomer.

Compton lost to Justin Gabriel by disqualification after Wade Barrett attacked the FCW Champion. Michael Tarver then hit the ring to attack Barrett. FCW Lieutenant General Manager Norman Smiley then made a tag match involving all four men. Gabriel and Tarver defeated Compton and Barrett after Tarver knocked out Compton and Gabriel pinned him.

He was previously released from his WWE contract in August 2008.

— WWE’s latest music release, WWE The Music: A New Day, fell out of Billboard’s top 200 chart in its third week out. However, it should be noted that it was primarily pushed for downloading on Amazon.com rather than CD purchase.

— Daniel Bryan’s debut last night on WWE NXT was a big hit among New York area wrestling fans as it was one of the top ten trending topics among New York City Twitter users after the show went off the air.

Chris Jericho Says Two WWE NXT Rookies Will Become Stars

— After working with Wade Barrett and Daniel Bryan on last night’s debut episode of WWE NXT on Syfy, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho praised the two young upstarts on his Twitter account.

“NXT was pretty cool. Daniel Bryan and Wade Barrett will be stars,” Jericho wrote. “However, Punk’s guy has the worst hair I’ve ever seen…”

Later, a fan said he was “a little stiff” Bryan. Jericho quipped, “Awww did it upset u baby waby?”

— After paying a fee to head down to Florida Championship Wrestling for a tryout in front of WWE trainers and agents this past December, the company has signed Calgary-based wrestler Tiger Raj Singh to a developmental contract. The 23-year-old told SLAM! Wrestling he has a developmental contract in hand and is waiting for his work Visa to be cleared before relocating to Tampa.

Notable names such as Steve Keirn, Pat Patterson and Mike Rotunda saw him work. “It was a four-day tryout, and every day there was someone new there,” Singh explained. He believes his gimmick made him stand out.

“I think they needed an Indian guy, they were looking for one,” Singh said. “We had matches and stuff and all the wrestlers came in their gimmicks. Well, I came out wearing a turban and had my full outfit on, and spoke Punjabi in my promo, and they liked that. They like guys who speak different languages and have different looks. My wrestling was pretty good, I had some pretty good matches. I did good at the drills and everything.”

Daniel Bryan Talks About His Name Change, The Miz

WWE NXT rookie Daniel Bryan (formerly Bryan Danielson) appeared on “The B.J. Shea Morning Experience” radio show on 99.9 KISW in Seattle this morning to discuss tonight’s WWE NXT debut. Here’s what Bryan said about:

His Name Change: Well we have to accept the things that are handed down to us, but it is pretty close to my name, you know what I mean? I am comfortable with it and I think it is going to be good. Most people who watch WWE Universe have no idea who I am so they don’t know about what my name was before or anything like that.

To them I’m always going to be known as Daniel Bryan. I think that will be okay. It’s just that the WWE is an enormous corporation and it’s smart for them to have the rights of anybody they put on TV. It doesn’t matter if the person is successful; I’m successful and they own the rights and that helps them and their merchandising and that sort of thing. I don’t think it’s really a big deal; it’s a pretty standard thing.”

The Miz Calling Him Boring: “So the deal with The Miz is that that’s how he’s gotten by. He’s very charismatic, he’s gone out there, he’s really good at making people hate him. How I’ve gotten by is a little bit different. I’ve been doing this for over ten years now and what I’ve gotten by and how I made my name is by being excellent in the ring, but that doesn’t mean what he’s saying isn’t partially correct, you know what I mean?

“There is this huge aspect there where for me it’s always been what goes on in the ring. And with the WWE…that’s a big part of it, it’s presenting yourself as a superstar. And when he said I look like an accountant, I kinda do! I don’t watch television, I don’t e-mail. He was asking me, ‘What do you do with yourself?’ and I said, ‘Well, I read!’ (Miz responded) ‘What? Who reads?’ It’s just one of those things where there’s going to be a learning curb there because it’s completely different then anything I’ve every done.”

Miz Defends Why He’s Qualified To Coach Daniel Bryan On NXT

WWE United States & Unified tag champion The Miz has posted a message on his WWE Universe page (link) responding to critics who say he’s not qualified to mentor Daniel Bryan (formerly Bryan Danielson) on the new WWE NXT show. Bryan is an accomplished wrestler who has had great matches for many years all over the world.

The Miz wrote, “It’s come to my knowledge that some members of the WWE Universe think they know everything about WWE and what it takes to be a WWE Superstar. They think that if a guy does well in the independent minor leagues, then all of a sudden he should be in the WWE. They think that if a guy can main event in front of a hundred people at a bingo hall, then he’s ready to main event at WrestleMania. Just because fans on the Internet say you’re ready doesn’t mean you really are.”

Bryan is a great in-ring worker, but the Miz says he’ll go nowhere without learning how to be a star – a quality he’s been honing for years. “My job is to make Daniel Bryan a star in the WWE,” Miz said. “Let’s face it, if you look at a picture of him right now, do you think STAR? No, Daniel Bryan looks like my accountant … ordinary and bland.”

He continued, Maybe if he had The Miz’s charisma and look, he would have been in the WWE by now. Don’t hate on me because it didn’t take me a decade to get a WWE contract and go down in WWE history to be the first Superstar to win the United States Title and Unified Tag Team Titles.”

Miz give Bryan some credit by saying he “has all the talent in the world,” but said Bryan has a long road ahead and it will be the Miz’ job to unlock his true potential.
