Darren Young Reveals Trick To Make Money In WWE

Former WWE star Darren Young recently had an interview with WrestlingInc where he talked about things like moving on from his WWE career and more.

During the interview, the former Nexus member praised his former tag team partner Titus O’Neil for being a hustler who always used to find something to do in the company.

He then revealed a trick to making money in WWE explaining that appearing on WWE’s reality show Total Divas was a guarantee to get a check even when you were not doing anything on Raw or SmackDown:

“With WWE and their reality show, Total Divas, anytime the cameras are around, I get right on there because for me, not being a part of the show; you’re going to get a check in the mail because you’re on their show. They pay you. Any time I see Nattie (Natalya) Neidhart, I go, ‘Hey girl, how you doing? How’s everything going?’

And Nattie knows how to turn it on. ‘Oh my God, I’m having so much problems with this Diva, that Diva,’ and I’m just listening, listening.” said Darren Young, “So I know when the cameras are on, a check is in the mail for me. After you’re done and the cameras turn away from you, they’re writing down who was involved in each scene.”

It was pointed out that Titus is also seen on Total Divas very often and Young revealed that he actually learned this tactic from his former tag team partner saying “that’s who I learned it from.”

Apart from this, Darren Young also talked about being part of Theality TV and more. You can check out the full interview of the former WWE star here.

When Is NWA Powerrr Returning?

Fans of the latest incarnation of the National Wrestling Alliance are hoping for a return of Powerrr. The promotion recently sent out a survey to fans via email, leading to speculation of a possible return shortly.

“We are currently talking about brining back POWERRR very soon, even if it means we can’t have fans in the stands because we just want to get back to work. But it’s nice to see our friend and former champion Tim Storm here. If anyone can lead us out of this, it’s a man or woman like him: who gives it all he or she’s got even when the chips are done. That sounds more grim than I mean it, ’cause yeah: still here, still kicking, and ready to get ready to rock…” Billy Corgan wrote recently.

Darren Young On Why He Came Out As Gay While Being Part Of WWE

Former WWE Star Darren Young recently had an interview with Sportskeeda where he talked about a number of wrestling related things including his career in the company and more.

Darren became the first wrestling star to publicly come out as gay while still being part of a major promotion when he admitted to it during an interview in August 2013.

Talking about the reason behind his move, the former WWE Star said that there were many reasons behind it, but one of the main motivation was his love:

“Well, for me, there are many reasons why I ultimately came out to the world but one of the main reasons that I came out was because I found love, and my own happiness is more important than anything, even my career.”

Young went on to say that he came out because he wanted to bring his partner to red carpet events and wanted him to experience the masculine world of professional wrestling.

Darren Young also admitted that he was fearful for his job when he came out but support from guys like Randy Orton and CM Punk made it easier for him to go out and perform.

Apart from this, Darren Young also talked about Finn Balor’s work for the LGBT community, getting released from the company and more. You can check out his full interview at this link.

Former WWE Superstar Darren Young recently had an interview with WrestlingInc where he talked about his past and future among other things.

While discussing his release from the promotion, Young claimed that his release from the company broke him but time has since then opened his eyes and now he has a laser-like focus:

“When I got released from WWE in 2017 it broke me, 2018 opened my eyes, and 2019 I had laser-like focus, just like I had when I was chasing the dream of becoming a WWE Superstar. I’ve been out here in LA taking acting classes, trying to do whatever I have to do to be seen on the big screen.”

Continuing on the topic, Young claimed that his story is very unique. It’s very important that he is able to share his story with the world and it’s very important that people can get helped by hearing it.

Darren Young Is Hoping To Sign With AEW, ROH, Or NJPW

Darren Young has more to offer pro-wrestling and he’s hoping 2019 brings him the opportunity to do so. The 35-year-old recently spoke with reporter Chris Van Vliet regarding his release from WWE in 2017, hoping to sign with AEW, and what more he has to offer the wrestling industry.

“I’m going to be honest with you 2017 broke me,” Young said during the interview. “2018 really opened my eyes and in 2019 I’ve just been making moves. Taking acting class, getting those reps in out here in LA. I’ve been out here almost 2 years now.”

Following his release from WWE in late 2017, Young performed on some shows for Chikara, Big Time Wrestling, and WrestleCade. He said during the interview, however, he is hoping to get signed by AEW, ROH, or NJPW.

“I’ve been trying to get into AEW,” said Young. “I feel like I still have a lot left in the tank. I contacted Cody Rhodes’ wife Brandi. I’ve also contacted Ring Of Honor. I still want to be able to represent and contribute in the wrestling world because I’m still a diehard fan, I still have a lot left in the tank. I’m 35 years old and I feel so alive.”

He continued, “Hopefully with this interview people can spread the word about me wanting to get into AEW or ROH or New Japan.”

Young is also a speaker as part of his “Block the Hate” campaign. More information about Young’s work with the organization can be found here.

His full interview with Chris Van Vliet can be viewed in the player below:

Darren Young Interview Highlights

Young also spoke in regards to his feelings watching Finn Balor’s WrestleMania 34 entrance.

“I’ll be honest with you, the release wasn’t that hurtful it was more hurtful at last year’s WrestleMania seeing Finn Balor in the opening match and the LGBTQ colors were embraced under his umbrella. I love Finn, I love Finn to death but I was like ‘Man, you just released me a few months ago. Give a dog a bone. Let me embrace it.’ I want to be able to go out there and show people that being gay comes in all different sizes and shapes. I don’t celebrate being gay, I celebrate living my life free from hate and free from judgement.”

Darren Young Says He Could Be Back With WWE Next Year

Darren Young was recently interviewed on the Roman Show hosted by Rodolfo Roman. On the show, Young teased a possible return to WWE next year.

“Recently, I was just at WWE in LA,” Young said. “They invited me back with open arms. So who knows? 2019 you could see me as an ambassador with the company. It’s just amazing, wrestling right now.”

Roman continued to ask if it’s possible we see Young back in a WWE ring next year as opposed to just being in an ambassador’s role.

“Just because moves aren’t being announced doesn’t mean moves aren’t being made,” Young teased. He continued to say he has interest in competing for both Ring of Honor and in Japan as well.

Darren Young Comments On WWE Superstars

Young also commented on current Smackdown Superstar, Sonya Deville, who came out as gay while being interviewed by Triple H on Tough Enough.

“That’s my girl (Deville),” Young said. “We need more representation, that’s what it’s all about. It’s not just about me, it’s not just about Sonya, it’s about everyone living their truth, living their honest life.”

He also commented on Finn Balor wearing the Pride colors on his merchandise.

“My dude, Finn is an amazing guy,” Young continued.

Darren Young Hopes To Work For ROH In 2019

Former WWE star Fred Rosser (better known a Darren Young) has been keeping busy since his WWE release in 2017. Young has been doing a lot of speaking engagements this year, which has cut into his professional wrestling career a bit. However, he’s hoping to turn all that around with 2019 right around the corner.

Young was recently interviewed by “The Roman Show” to talk about several professional wrestling topics. During their conversation, Young expressed interest in working for various promotions in 2019. He named Ring Of Honor (ROH) specifically, as well as expressing interest in working around Japan too:

“2019 for me is going to be a big year. 2018, I spent a lot of time doing speaking engagements, very little wrestling, but 2019 is going to be a big year for me. Hopefully [I will wrestle in] Japan, and hopefully [Ring of Honor].”

Back in 2005 Young signed a developmental deal with WWE and competed in their Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) territory, before it became known as NXT. In 2010 he made his main roster debut as a member of the Nexus. He’d briefly return to NXT in 2011 and eventually formed the “Prime Time Players” alongside Titus O’Neil.

In 2014 Young began a singles career, which included a run with WWE Hall Of Famer Bob Backlund as his manager for a brief period of time. Young was released from his WWE deal in October of 2017. It will be interesting to see how his career progresses working the indy scene, and potentially getting booked for promotions such as New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) or ROH.

Darren Young Reveals Plans For His Singles Title Win That Were Nixed

Darren Young never won a singles title in WWE but it turns out there was a time when he had the opportunity to do so and his opponent was ready to drop the title as well, only for things to fall apart.

Young was recently a guest on Two Man Powertrip of Wrestling Podcast, where he talked about his post-WWE life, being paired with Bob Backlund and more.

While talking about his 2016 feud with the Miz, he revealed that the Miz who was the Intercontinental Champion at the time was ready to drop the title to him but the creatives decided against it:

“He was actually for me beating him for the Intercontinental title at Battleground. Miz was all about saying to give the title to Darren and then I’ll take it back from him. I guess I wasn’t a favorite to someone under Vince and eventually it got kiboshed.”

Darren Young was paired with Bob Backlund back in May 2016 and not too long after this, he won an 18 man Battle Royal to become the #1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship.

However, he failed to capture the title at Battleground and after this; he started a rivalry with his former partner Titus O’Neil. This feud didn’t go anywhere and Young was released by the company in January the next year.
