Dave Bautista Has Joined “Knives Out 2” Cast

Dave Bautista has landed another movie role as his successful career in Hollywood continues. Deadline.com is reporting that he has joined the cast of the “Knives Out 2” film.

The film is directed by Rian Johnson and is the Netflix sequel to the 2019 murder mystery film. As it stands right now, there is no word yet what characters Bautista will be playing.

Daniel Craig will be returning for the second film as Benoit Blanc, who is the lead star. It will start filming this summer in Greece.

The plot of the first film reads like this, “The circumstances surrounding the death of crime novelist Harlan Thrombey are mysterious, but there’s one thing that renowned Detective Benoit Blanc knows for sure — everyone in the wildly dysfunctional Thrombey family is a suspect. Now, Blanc must sift through a web of lies and red herrings to uncover the truth.”

Bautista’s latest film, “Army of the Dead,” is directed by Zack Snyder. The plot reads, “ARMY OF THE DEAD takes place following a zombie outbreak that has left Las Vegas in ruins and walled off from the rest of the world.”

It will be released in select theaters on May 14, 2021. One week later, it will be made available on Netflix.

Batista Says AEW Is Not Legitimate Competition To WWE

The recently retired Batista doesn’t think AEW will provide legitimate competition to WWE. He recently sat down with Chris Van Vliet to promote his upcoming Stuber film and also spoke about AEW, his retirement, and match with Triple H at WrestleMania.

In terms of AEW providing competition for WWE, Batista doesn’t see them as a legitimate concern for WWE.

“I don’t see it as legitimate competition,” Batista said. “I see it as competition, which is great, there should always be competition but until they actually produce one of their own major stars, until they have a production that is as big as WWE. I mean WWE already has the next three generations of superstars because they have NXT camps all over the world now, they’re so far ahead of the game that I don’t see any real competition. Not even close.”

Batista Interview Highlights

Batista also said during the interview that he would rather go broke than wrestle another match.

“This is a real wrestling retirement. I am done,” Batista stressed. “My in-ring career is over. I would love to go back on the show because I love the company and I believe in the product so I would go back and go on the show.”

Batista stressed that he will not have another wrestling match but would go back to WWE for a Hall of Fame induction.

“If they ask me to go in the Hall of Fame I will. But I will not have another wrestling match. I will go broke before I have another wrestling match and I will not go and work for another promotion.”

Batista Says WWE’s Creative Process Has Become Worse

Batista recently said in an interview that WWE’s creative process worsened between his runs with the company in 2014 and 2019. Speaking to Pro Wrestling Sheet, Batista called WWE’s creative process a nightmare which has only gotten worse.

“The creative process, I still don’t get,” Batista said. “It was a nightmare to me the last time I was there, which was 2014, and it seems like it’s become worse. I feel like they don’t have a clear vision, a long-term vision, everything is very week-to-week. It doesn’t seem like they stick to a plan very much.”

“We’ve had our differences, but Vince has always been good to me,” Batista stressed later in the show.

Batista’s comments come on the heels of similar opinions being expressed by Jon Moxley and others in regards to WWE’s creative.

“Toward the end and especially in the last few months and especially now looking back,” Moxley said on Wade Keller’s podcast. “I always pictured myself as one of Vince’s guys because he liked me. Now looking back on it I’m like “Vince is like the problem, Vince himself is a problem.’”

Batista On Wrestling Triple H At Mania

Batista also mentioned on the show that him and Triple H weren’t able to rehearse their WrestleMania match out of fear of Triple H re-injuring his torn pec.

“We were scheduled to train, and we did go to the training facility, but we didn’t train. Because he said ‘I can get in the ring, and I can work out and I can feel a little more confident,’ He said, ‘or I can get in the ring and I can re-tear my pec.’ He said, ‘let’s be safe about this, we’ve been in the ring enough, we know each other.’ So we did. We did not touch each other in the ring until we got to WrestleMania, that was it. So I am really proud of what we could accomplish. Because it could’ve been better, it could’ve been better, but it could’ve been a lot f—ing worse. Like, It could’ve been disastrous and I think, considering, I’m very proud of what we accomplished. ”

Batista announced his retirement shortly following WrestleMania.

Batista Claims He “Lost Everything & Went Broke” After Leaving WWE In 2010 (Video)

Although he is swimming in cash these days, former WWE Superstar and actor Dave Bautista (Batista) revealed during his appearance at the Denver Pop Culture Con event this weekend that he went broke after leaving WWE several years ago.

According to the Hollywood big-shot, he “went broke and lost everything” after parting ways with the pro wrestling juggernaut to pursue his acting aspirations in 2010.

“I was with WWE at the time and I went and did a film,” Batista recalled during his ‘Spotlight Panel’ at the event in Colorado. “I had zero interest in acting, all I wanted to do was wrestle. I loved wrestling, I was obsessed with wrestling, and I went and did a film as a favor for a friend and I realized I was horrible.”

Batista continued, “I was a horrendous actor. I was so mortified that I wanted to prove I could be better, and the company [WWE], they wouldn’t let me do anything outside of the company.”

It was at this point that Batista parted ways with WWE and began pursuing his acting dreams full-time.

He claimed he “starved for three years” until eventually landing the role that would change his career when he played “Drax the Destroyer” in Marvel’s blockbuster phenomenon, Guardians of the Galaxy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jPb6Y8Vn44

“I starved for three years,” Batista claimed. “I went broke. I lost everything. I couldn’t get a job and I said that I will never go back to wrestling until I prove what I set out to prove, and that was that I can make it as an actor. Then I got the role on Guardians [of the Galaxy].”

That is when everything changed for “The Animal.”

Batista Succeeds In Hollywood, Makes WWE Comeback

It was at this point, when he was financially back on his feet and feeling content with his achievements in the acting world, that he decided to reach out to the WWE Chairman about making a potential return to the pro wrestling world.

“When I got the role, I finished the film and the first call I made after I wrapped was to Vince McMahon,” said Batista. “I said, ‘Hey man, I’d really like to come back and wrestle for a little bit.'”

His next stint in WWE wouldn’t last too long, however, as he went on to secure a spot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reprising his role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He also landed roles in such films as The Man with the Iron Fists, Riddick, the James Bond film, Spectre, Blade Runner 2049, Avengers: Infinity War, Hotel Artemis and Avengers: Endgame, just to name a few.

Things are definitely going well for Dave Bautista these days.

Batista ‘Officially Retired’ Following WrestleMania 35

Former WWE champion Dave Bautista has wrestled his last match after a ‘no holds barred’ showdown against Triple H at WrestleMania 35.

The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ star made a return to the ring on Sunday night after building up a match against his former teammate in ‘Evolution’.

The back and forth battle ended after Ric Flair interfered to help Triple H secure the victory as he planted Bautista with a Pedigree before earning the three-count.

While the match was billed around Triple H potentially wrestling for the last time ever if he was defeated, Bautista was ultimately the one who called it a career following WrestleMania.

“Thank you for letting me entertain you,” Bautista wrote on Twitter. “I love this business and whether you cheered me or jeered me, I’m grateful for being a small part of your life.

“I am officially retired from sports entertainment and I am grateful for every second of my amazing journey.”

https://twitter.com/DaveBautista/status/1115144897357602816

Ever since he stopped working a full time schedule several years ago, Bautista has made a new career for himself in Hollywood where he’s landed several marquee roles including his iconic turn as Drax the Destroyer in two ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movies as well as last year’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.

This year, Bautista will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for ‘Avengers: Endgame’ due out on April 26 and then he’ll take a comedic turn in the buddy comedy ‘Stuber’ where he stars alongside ‘Silicon Valley’ actor Kumail Nanjiani.

Bautista also has a featured role in the highly anticipated new adaptation of ‘Dune’ from director Denis Villenueve.

It’s safe to say Bautista will be plenty busy in his acting career now that he has closed the door on the WWE following one final match on Sunday night.

Dave Bautista Comments On Conflict With Disney Over GotG Director

Dave Bautista was not happy when Disney announced the removal of director James Gunn from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise last year. He recently spoke to Variety about his feelings now that the director has been reinstated to work on the franchise.

“I just spoke my mind and was honest about the way I felt about it. I thought he was given a raw deal, I thought it was a bad call, bad decision,” Bautista said.

Disney fired the director last year after old Tweets featuring insensitive remarks from Gunn surfaced. Not long after Gunn was removed from the film, Bautista had the following to say:

“I will have more to say but for right now all I will say is this.. @JamesGunn is one of the most loving, caring, good natured people I have ever met. He’s gentle and kind and cares deeply for people and animals. He’s made mistakes. We all have. I’m NOT ok with what’s happening to him.”

Dave Bautista – Guardians of the Galaxy Franchise

Bautista and others involved in the film alluded to not wanting to work on a 3rd Guardians of the Galaxy film if Gunn was not involved. Disney then announced last month they had decided to hire Gunn back.

Although he is contractually committed to working on a 3rd Guardians of the Galaxy film, Bautista feels Disney would have let him out of his contract if he had pushed the issue.

“I am contractually obligated [to do the third movie], but I think that Marvel and Disney –– if I had really stood my ground and said, ‘I don’t want to do this without James’ –– I think that they are decent enough that they would’ve let me out of my contract,” he said.

Even if he wasn’t brought back as director, Bautista wanted to ensure Gunn’s script was used for the 3rd movie.

“I wanted to bring it home. These guys are like family to me and I wanted to be involved in the third one,” Bautista said. “I wanted to use James’ script because it’s a beautiful script. Moving forward without James was a real personal issue with me.”

The full interview with Variety can be read here.

It seems as though both Triple H and Disney are learning that it’s best to just give Batista what he wants.

GOTG Director Re-Instated Following Backlash From Batista & Others

After watching what Dave Bautista did to Ric Flair on his 70th birthday, Disney has decided they would rather not get on his bad side. The film company has re-instated James Gunn as director of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise following backlash from Dave Bautista and others.

Gunn was removed as director when old Tweets of his were deemed offensive. Disney issued a statement to media that Gunn’s comments were ““indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values.”

This summer, Bautista, Chris Pratt, and others involved with the film made public statements expressing their desire for Gunn to be reinstated.

Bautista posted the following in regards to the matter:

Screenshot 2019 03 15 15.15.51

“I will have more to say but for right now all I will say is this.. @JamesGunn is one of the most loving, caring, good natured people I have ever met. He’s gentle and kind and cares deeply for people and animals. He’s made mistakes. We all have. I’m NOT ok with what’s happening to him.”

Bautista did say, however, he would participate in a 3rd film without Gunn if he was legally required.

He also sent out the following in response to an article covering Gunn’s situation:

https://twitter.com/DaveBautista/status/1030544004088324098

Disney announced today, however, that Gunn will return to direct the 3rd Guardians of the Galaxy film. He is currently directing Suicide Squad 2.

Dave Bautista Lands New Movie Role That Could Impact His Rumored WrestleMania 35 Status

Dave Bautista has landed another movie role as his successful career in Hollywood continues. Variety.com is reporting that he has joined the cast of the “Dune” reboot that stars Timothee Chalamet.

It’s been reported by BleedingCool.com that this film is targeted to start in February for production. Thus, if that this is still the timeline, it could have an impact on his status for a rumored match against Triple H at WrestleMania 35, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 7thin East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium.

Evolution, which is a group that consists of Triple H, Bautista, Randy Orton, and Ric Flair, reunited on WWE SmackDown 1000 back in October. This marked the latest appearance by the former WWE Champion on WWE television. Bautista would later praise Orton and Flair but stated that when it comes to Triple H, he might run the business and has done it all but has never beaten him. Bautista and Triple H had a stare down then hugged to close the segment.

This has led to a lot of speculation that this segment was done in order to set up a match between the two future WWE Hall of Famers at Mania. That match is now in question after Triple H suffered a pectoral injury at the Crown Jewel event in November.

This will be a remake of the 1984 film. The film is a “feature adaptation of Frank Herbert’s science fiction novel about the son of a noble family trying to avenge his father’s death while saving a spice planet that he is entrusted to protect.”

Chris Jericho Offers Batista An ‘Open Invitation’ To The Alpha Club

Chris Jericho took to Twitter recently, responding to a fan question regarding Batista joining Jericho’s Alpha Club in New Japan Pro Wrestling.  His answer is short, sweet, and intriguing:

Former WWE superstar, Dave Batista, has been making waves within the pop culture sphere in recent weeks since openly declaring his support for the recently fired director of Guardians of The Galaxy and GoTG Vol 2, James Gunn.

https://twitter.com/DaveBautista/status/1026244855058649095

He appeared recently on the popular British chat show, The Jonathan Ross Show, which was covered on SEScoops here.

On the show, he spoke concisely on his feelings about the whole situation:

“It’s a bitter-sweet conversation — um, no it’s a bitter-bitter conversation because I’m not really happy with what they’ve done with James Gunn.”

“They’re putting the movie off,” he added. “It’s on hold indefinitely. To be honest with you I don’t know if I want to work for Disney.”

Following this, The Animal would go on to do an interview with WhatCulture Wrestling, promoting his new movie, Final Score. During the course of the interview, Batista had this to say regarding professional wrestling:

“I have to say that it’s something I think about daily. I miss it daily. I love it. I have a passion for wrestling. I feel that at the core of me that’s just who I am. I’m a physical performer, and I miss it every day.”

The possibility of an open schedule, coupled with Dave Batista’s longing for the ring, make for a tantalising possibility if it were to happen.

An open invite into the Alpha Club may be too good for the Animal to turn down.

Batista Threatens To Leave Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

It was reported earlier today that Dave Bautista will fulfill his commitments for Marvel when filming for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 takes place. More on that here.

It seems that is not the case anymore as Bautista just threaten to leave the production if Gunn is not rehired. Going as far as to say it’ll be a “disservice” if he didn’t step away.

“Nobody’s defending his tweets, but this was a smear campaign on a good man. I spoke to Chris Pratt the day after it happened and he’s a bit religious so he wanted time to pray and figure it out, but I was more like: f*ck this. This is bullsh*t. James is one of the kindest, most decent people I’ve met.”

Bautista went on to confirm that Gunn has turned in the script for GOTG V3 and expressed his sentiments on what would happen if Gunn’s script isn’t used.

“Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me.

“I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.”

Bautista has made these comments during the promotion for his film Final Score. At the following moment, Disney nor Marvel have yet to release a statement on Bautista’s comments.

A Possible Recast

Rumors have been circulating that if the current cast of Guardians is refusing to work due to Gunn’s firing there may be a whole recast but it is too early to tell if those rumors are true.

Batista’s Latest Film Hits Screens This Weekend (Video)

Former WWE Champion Dave Bautista’s most-recent film hit select theaters and VOD this weekend. Bautista stars alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme and Georges St Pierre in Kickboxer: Vengeance.

Kickboxer: Vengeance is Bautista’s thirteenth film and is directed by John Stockwell, who is best known for Top Gun. The sequel, Kickboxer: Retaliation, is already in production and will see Batista resume his role from Vengeance.

Below is the official synopsis for the film:

Eric and Kurt Sloane are the descendants of a well-known Venice, California-based family of martial artists. Kurt has always been in older brother, Eric’s shadow, as he lacks the instincts needed to become a champion. Against Kurt’s concerns, Eric accepts a paid offer and travels to Thailand to challenge the Muay Thai champion Tong Po and fails with dire consequences. Kurt sets out for revenge. He trains with his brother’s mentor, Master Durand, for a Muay Thai fight against the merciless champion, Tong Po. Durand first thinks Kurt is impossible to train, but through a series of spiritual exercises and tests, Durand discovers that Kurt has a deeper strength that will carry him through his final showdown with Tong Po.

Batista’s most-recent WWE contract expired late last year after having creative differences with the company. Batista turned down a role at WrestleMania 32 this year, but indicated he would be interested in working untelevised events for the company.

Ambrose says he was “screwed” out of the Money In The Bank briefcase and the World Heavyweight Title before, but he’s still confident going into the PPV. “What’s a piece of metal to represent who the champion is, I still feel like I’m the king of this place,” Ambrose said.

Money In The Bank 2016 takes place on June 19th at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. The show airs live on the WWE Network with live play-by-play coverage and discussion on SEScoops.com.

Batista At HBO Boxing Event On Saturday, Cena Promotes Return Of Total Divas

– Former WWE Superstar Batista was in attendance at the Vic Darchinyan vs. Nonito Donaire boxing fight on HBO on Saturday evening. Batista stood in the corner of Donaire, holding the Philippine flag during the official introductions prior to the bout. Donaire would go on to win the rematch against Darchinyan via TKO in the ninth round. Batista appeared again during Donaire’s post-fight interview with HBO boxing analyst Max Kellerman.

– WWE Superstar and current World Heavyweight Champion John Cena promoted the return of the WWE Total Divas reality show, which airs on E! on Sunday night, in a new tweet posted on his official Twitter account. Cena wrote the following:

  • Batista Returning At WrestleMania XXX? + Spoilers For New Season Of Total Divas …
  • Former WWE Diva Talks Confrontation With Batista That Got Her Fired

The following are highlights from a recent VOC Nation interview with former WWE Diva Shelly Martinez:

On Batista getting her fired from WWE: “Batista and I had an aggressive conversation backstage and he said something that were unnecessary and uncalled for. If it was outside of wrestling, I’m pretty sure it could have been a legal problem for both Batista and WWE, but this is wrestling, and it’s a man’s business, so I fired back and they fired me. I was just a vampire girl in the fake ECW; he was Batista, and they wanted to accommodate him.”

On her passion for radio: “I’ve always wanted to do radio. Podcasts are the new way of radio. Four years ago, I started the show Funtime Radio with my sister Danielle, and we always had a vision for it, but we didn’t know how to quite make it happen. One thing we wanted to do was team up with a network like VOC Nation and make it more (of a success). People are afraid sometimes to speak their true minds, and we’re not afraid to say what’s on our mind and share our true stories. It’s really cool to be able to give all sides of me (not just wrestling) to VOC Nation listeners.”

On what makes her show different from others: “Podcasts are no stranger in the wrestling world these days. There’s a lot of prior talent that has podcasts. What’s different (about my shows) for me is that I’m a female wrestler that was fired by WWE and that also worked at TNA. What’s cool about Martinez Girls Radio is that you not only get to hear my stories about being (in the trenches), but you get to hear her outside perspective of watching me go through it. Whether it’s promoters sending me pictures of their (genitals) or trying to (get over on me), I’m not afraid to talk about it.”

Jindrak wrote:

“I wasn’t ready for Evolution at that time in my career. I was immature and Batista fit better. It was mine to lose and I dropped the ball…But since then I’ve matured and understood why I missed that chance and it’s helped me in my career which ended up in CMLL in Mexico.”

“Growing up, I loved Razor Ramon, ‘The Bad Guy,’ I thought he was the coolest thing walking on the planet. But him, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart and The British Bulldog were all interchangeable there for awhile. I liked Diesel, the big seven footer… It’s also cool because Razor Ramon – Scott Hall’s his real name – he texts me now or will call me and just says, ‘great job, keep doing what you’re doing.’ So for me, growing up he was my favorite, that’s pretty cool to me now that this guy that I grew up idolizing texts me now tells me, ‘good job.'”

Jim Ross Blog: Hints At Batista Returning To WWE, WWE Romances, RAW

The following are highlights from a new online blog by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On Legends Of Mid-South Wrestling DVD: “The Legends of Mid South Wrestling DVD produced excellently by WWE will be released in North America this Tuesday and soon thereafter in other parts of the world. I’m obviously biased because that’s where myself and many greats of the game got our start under the watchful and forceful eye of Cowboy Bill Watts and I think that fans are going to love this DVD release.”

“One of the DVD extras, the 40+ minute NWA Title bout featuring Ric Flair vs. Terry Taylor, is an absolute clinic for any wrestler to observe and from which to learn. Plus, many fans will see the amazingly physical side of Hacksaw Jim Duggan who was a stalwart and became a star in Mid South.”

On Batista’s future in WWE: “Reviews for my friend Dave Bautista’s work in the new film ‘Riddick’ have been stellar. Dave is a talented guy and has developed his personality amazingly well since we first signed him many years ago. That comes from hard work and focus of which ‘The Animal’ never had a shortage. Hopefully, if the timing is right, Batista will be able to make a cameo or two in WWE in the future as I’m sure that his fans would love to see him.”

On Monday’s RAW and the WWE mobile app: “I watched quite a bit of Monday Night RAW this week on the WWE app and enjoyed the content. Nice concept for the die hard fan who craves all the content that they can get plus the material in the commercial breaks on the APP tied storyline matters together nicely.”

On rumored WWE romances and the WWE Divas: “One can tell that sports entertainment is truly ‘evolving’ as it relates to pop culture, social media, etc as I have read recent online reports of various, ‘rumored’ WWE romances. One of the more unique dynamics within the business that I experienced was when the number of Divas on the roster grew quickly and the ladies became a regular part of the locker room environment. Interesting days indeed. Little did we know then how much the Divas would add to the presentation and how many doors those ladies would open for others.”
