  • Taeler Hendrix Says Dixie Carter Told Her She Was Too “Heavy” To Appear On TNA Television

Taeler Hendrix alleged in an interview over the weekend that TNA Wrestling President Dixie Carter felt she was too “heavy” to be on television.

Carter’s reaction was in response to Hendrix’s match against Mickie James on the June 6 episode of Impact Wrestling—her final bout for the organization.

“I do have my qualms. Don’t tell me on my birthday that I’m “heavy” to be on TV,” Hendrix said about Carter on The Greg DeMarco Show. “I’m a size three, that’s not fat at all! I’m a role model for young girls, there’s nothing plastic about me.”

Compared to her figure the year prior, Hendrix felt she was “too skinny,” noting that she “got really skinny just to get on television.” She continued, “Someone said I looked like a skeleton, and then I started looking at my pictures and I was like “Oh my God, I really do!” I’m taller than [most female wrestlers] but I’m not bigger than them.”

Hendrix also revealed that she put on weight following a recent cancer scare.

“On top of that, my cancer stuff came back. I had no choice to gain weight, and I’m really happy that I did,” said Hendrix. “What I’m battling right now is cervical cancer—and when I say battling I mean I’m trying to not get it. I wasn”t setting a good example. I felt like I was a hypocrite. I would rather be healthy and stay cancer free.”

Hendrix also addressed her departure from TNA Wrestling, the mood in Ohio Valley Wrestling, Velvet Sky and other topics. Additional highlights from the interview are as follows:

Her departure from TNA Wrestling: “It was kind of a whirlwind … a long time in the making … I was super-duper unhappy … the All-American Dream … BAM! Hit in the face! It’s not happening girl, wake up! I got papers in the mail to re-sign for another year in developmental at OVW for TNA … Before I could tell them that I wouldn’t re-sign, I got the call the day before my contract expired to tell me I was released. … Maybe they can use that spot for someone they actually know what they want to do with. … I’m not offended—I’m a lot happier.”

Whether the mood in Ohio Valley Wrestling has changed since the recent TNA releases: “Yes, actually. Now that I’m not signed anymore, I think I’m enjoying it more—from an OVW standpoint. … It’s home… There’s wrestling every single week, you can’t get more work than that. … I am loving my character right now, she’s awesome. … She’s like that girl we all hated in high school. … A lot of people who were released, they’re gone.”

Velvet Sky: “She has found a way to stick it out … and she was released at one point. … Velvet Sky is money. … And if I have someone who makes me money, I’m going to keep them around. … She’s not the best wrestler in the world, but neither am I. … She makes money. … Velvet Sky has some of the most loyal fans in the world. … She has a great personality, in ring and out. … And you know what? She’s gotten much better. … I’m a fan—she can keep letting the pigeons loose. … That girl’s a hot commodity.”

Hendrix also discusses the online reaction to her release, her upcoming appearances for Shine Wrestling, how she keeps finding family in wrestling, her goals outside of the professional wrestling industry and more. To listen to the interview, click here.

  • Dixie Carter Issues Statement Addressing The State of TNA

After getting bombarded with negative feedback on Twitter from her #AskDixie campaign, TNA President Dixie Carter issued the following statement on the TNA website on Thursday, addressing the state of the company:

    “Hi everyone,

In the 11+ years that I have been with TNA, I am still amazed by the passion of pro wrestling fans. That passion – both positive and negative – is remarkable and something that all of us at TNA values.

With that said, I asked for questions from you like I have done many times in the past, but I didn’t provide a timeframe by which I would answer you. I know I have frustrated you all, and I apologize. Beginning next week, each Thursday, I will answer legitimate questions from you on a weekly basis. I will not, however, address outrageous or hurtful questions/posts.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to provide perspective from inside TNA – where we stand and where, with support from our current and future fans around the globe, we are going. What is being shared with you now is what was shared with the IMPACT roster before our phenomenal Destination X show from Louisville, KY last week.

This has been a big year for TNA. We took IMPACT LIVE on the road, exactly where it needs to be – where you’ve asked us to be – in your backyard. We also changed our Pay-Per-View schedule, shifting from 12 to four live Pay-Per-View events each year, in order to increase the value of these events for you. To grow TNA, these are moves that needed to be made. And, part of changes like this, includes structural changes within TNA to align with this new business model.

Many of your comments and questions reference our recent roster changes. The relationship that fans have with wrestlers is unique and one of the many great aspects of the wrestling business. And, for this reason, releasing talent is never easy – not for you and not for us. But, bringing in fresh faces and the best wrestling talent in the world is what you expect, and what TNA will always strive to deliver. Recently, we have brought back some talent favorites (Sonjay Dutt, Petey Williams and Homicide), and you will continue to see this and new talent that we are excited to introduce you to in the coming months.

TNA has always been, and will continue to be, a place where you can interact with the superstars, whether in person at a live show or via social channels, like Twitter and Facebook. We are constantly exploring new and interesting ways to take this interaction to another level, and you will see this unfold in the coming months. I appreciate each of you taking the time to share your thoughts, opinions and ideas. Your input and feedback helps us create a better product. I hope you will join us when IMPACT LIVE comes to your area.

    Yours,

    Dixie”

  • Sean Waltman Takes Dixie Carter To Task, Jesse Sorensen Posts New Blog

-The following is a new blog from the official Facebook page of the recently released former TNA Impact Wrestling star Jesse Sorensen:

“Although I am very appreciative of the time of small fame I was given. I have realized that what’s important in life isn’t being a “superstar” or being famous. It’s about having Real friends & family that support you no matter what you’ve been thru & care about you no matter what you do in life. Thank you to every one of y’all that support me. I’m always going to be that small town kid that was raised right & still believe that someone’s word is their bond. I look very forward to moving on with positivity & look forward to seeing what life brings my way.”

-Former TNA Impact Wrestling star Sean “X-Pac” Waltman took to Twitter on Wednesday to voice his opinion on Sorensen’s release. Waltman initially wrote, “Classy move by @TNADixie on the release of Jesse Sorensen.”

After fans criticized Waltman, he followed up by saying, “Guy almost ends up in a wheelchair for life working for you. You tell them don’t worry, you have a job for life, don’t worry about anything. Don’t be surprised when decent people think it’s a really shitty move to pull.”

  • D’Lo Brown Speaks On His TNA Release, Compares Dixie Carter To Vince McMahon

The following are highlights from a recent interview with former TNA employee D’Lo Brown:

On his TNA release: “I guess it was just time for a change. We had talked earlier in the week about doing a new deal. The circumstances changed that following monday and got a call that following day saying we are going to part company. I was shocked you know and it came from left field but you just have to move on.”

“You deal with what live gives you and if you dwell on the past you are going to stay there. I thanked them for my time there. Told them i had 4 great years. Maybe we can work together again in the future but for right now we are just going to part ways.”

On if he feels TNA is a sinking ship: “I wouldn’t say it’s a sinking ship. I’d rather say they are going through growing pains. The large extent of taking impact on the road, that load is probably [inaudible] the company right now. It’s kind of like prunning a tree. You trim a tree down to it’s core and hopefully it will survive, grow and bloom. Hopefully a year later it will be bigger, stronger than ever. So to me it just seems like they are going through some growing pains. The restructuring is just a way of shoring up the ship.”

On releasing low-level talent instead of higher priced talent: “That’s the million dollar question. I wasn’t in the office on the talent side. That’s a good question to put out there. I’m not sure the answer. I don’t think anyone outside of the company on that side would be privy to that. There are times when you look at it and the decisions don’t make sense.”

“They are going to do what they need to do to strengthen the company. A lot of people will scratch their head and a lot of people will wonder and shake their head, question and build their own hypothesis and try to figure whats going on. At the end of the day, nobody in that company knows what’s really going to happen except those in charge of the finances.”

On the power structure in TNA: “Dixie is very hands on. There are execs that make some decisions but Dixie is the one that has the final say on the product. Dixie is very hands on I’ll give her that. She is right there in the trenches with every body else. Every time i was in the office, I would sit in her office or walked by her office and she is always on the phone handling business. She is right there working hard with every body else.”

On comparisons between Dixie Carter and Vince McMahon: “They both have their positives and negatives. They are both alike in many ways. They are both driven, they both want their companies to succeed, they are willing to do it at any cost. If anything i believe TNA promotes a more family friendly atmosphere for the talent. It’s not uncommon to have the boys backstage with their families at the house show or on tv. That kind of wasn’t allowed with Vince.”

  • Backstage TNA Talent Meeting Held Before Impact: Budget Cuts Discussed

TNA President Dixie Carter spoke to the TNA locker room prior to last week’s Impact Wrestling taping and addressed the company’s ongoing budget cuts. Jeff Jarrett, as well as TNA CFO Dean Broadhead and Executive Vice President Andy Barton were in attendance.

According to Prowrestling.net, it was explained that the One Night Only pay-per-view tapings that were held earlier this year cost the company a lot of money. Ironically, the tapings were done as a result of TNA’s cost cutting-measure of eliminating reducing the live pay-per-view schedule to 1 only per quarter.

TNA’s new EVP of Television Production, John Gaburick, is getting positive feed back since taking over for Bruce Prichard.

  • Update On Pay Issues In TNA, Dixie Carter/Mickie James Concert, Attendance Note

-TNA president Dixie Carter and her husband, along with TNA writer Dave Lagana were in attendance for TNA Knockout Mickie James’ free concert in Nashville, TN. on Wednesday evening.

-TNA’s biggest annual event, the summer fireworks show at MCU Park in Brooklyn on July 5th, drew only 2,500 fans this year. The 2,500 number is only about half of what the event would draw a few years ago.

-According to sources, a lot of the problems with money in TNA has to do with third-party vendors, something that has been a problem in the past. There were also production problems and wrestlers who were being paid late, including some of the biggest names in the company right now. Some of TNA’s developmental talents in OVW, who live on very low income as it is, have also been receiving pay late.

  • Paul Heyman Responds To Dixie Carter Wanting To Do A TNA vs. WWE Event

During a recent interview with DigitalSpy.com to promote Sunday’s WWE Payback pay-per-view, WWE TV personality Paul Heyman commented on Dixie Carter recently tweeting that she’d like to do a TNA vs. WWE pay-per-view event. Heyman understands where she’s coming from, but thinks WWE would be crazy to work with TNA.

“I’m sure that Dixie Carter would love to do a WWE versus TNA PPV. Why wouldn’t she? A friend of mine who has way too much time on his hands just started a new beverage company here in the United States… He would like to do a global promotion with Coca-Cola. I don’t suggest that Coca-Cola would be profitable having to do a global co-promotion with Shmuley’s Soda Company. In the same way it would make no sense for WWE with 95% global share to do an event with TNA with its 5% global market share!”

Heyman also responded to whether CM Punk is the best wrestler he’s ever worked with:

“Well, that’s a very interesting question. CM Punk is the best in the world and he is the longest-reigning WWE Champion of the past 25 years. His goals are to be recognized as the best in the world, so on that basis, yes. Brock Lesnar has different goals from CM Punk, and Brock Lesnar achieves his goals with me, together, as a unit.”

“So I could not honestly state that CM Punk’s success is any greater than Brock Lesnar’s success. Nor could I state that Brock Lesnar’s success supersedes CM Punk’s. These are individuals with dramatically different goals and they both achieve them.”

As for which WWE superstars should headline WrestleMania XXX in April 2014, Heyman says he’s got the perfect special attraction match in mind:

“I have a very standard answer for that because it’s the most genuine answer I can give someone. I think the main event for WrestleMania 30 should be a battle for the WWE Championship against the World Heavyweight Championship, to unify the titles.

And that match should feature Brock Lesnar versus CM Punk, with Paul Heyman advising both men and therefore getting a percentage of the profits of both sides of the main event at WrestleMania.”

  • Dixie Carter Says She’s Open To A TNA vs. WWE PPV Event

During a recent interview with DigitalSpy about the possibility of a TNA vs. WWE crossover event:

“I don’t think [the WWE] shares my belief in this, but I believe that competition is 100% positively essential,I think it’s important for fans and for us. To have one company dominate, a) it’s boring, and you are not being challenged enough. It’s always better to have other options out there and I truly believe it makes both companies better. absolutely would do that. I’m not sure if they would do that (a crossover event), but I absolutely would.”

She also discussed TNA doing another season of Boot Camp & more.

Now obviously, a WWE vs. TNA pay-per-view is never going to happen, unless WWE buys TNA. However, it’s an intriguing idea that’s perfect for some good old fashioned fantasy booking. Hit up the comments below and tell us what WWE vs. TNA matches you’d want to see on an inter-promotional super show.

  • Dixie Carter Issues Stern Message Regarding Austin Aries’ ‘Inappropriate Behavior’ On Impact

TNA Wrestling President Dixie Carter addressed Austin Aries’ lewd behavior towards ring announcer Christy Hemme on last week’s episode of Impact Wrestling with a stern statement via Twitter this afternoon.

“TNA has ZERO tolerance for inappropriate behavior,” she wrote. “The incident with Austin Aries was taken very seriously and handled immediately.”

David Schwarz, Senior Vice President of Communications for Spike TV, stated this week to Mark Madden of Wrestlezone.com that action would be taken against Aries for his public form of sexual harassment towards the veteran Knockout.

“We have a zero tolerance policy for sexual harassment,” said Schwarz. “We discussed [the incident] with our partner. [Aries is] being disciplined. I’m trying to get more information on what action is being taken. Dixie Carter took this very personally. He will be disciplined. Again, we have a zero tolerance policy for sexual harassment.

“I’m not sure specifically how [the discipline] will be handled. To what extent, I don’t know. This is certainly something we don’t condone and don’t tolerate. Such behavior is not welcome.”

In response to whether Aries’ discipline should be made public since Hemme was harassed on national television, Schwarz responded, “I think that a statement of some sort will be coming. That’s being worked out. But immediate action will be taken.”

On the show, Hemme mistakenly introduced Aries and tag team partner Bobby Roode as their opponents for the evening, Christopher Daniels and Kazarian. This led Aries to corner Hemme in the ring as he intimidated her into correctly introducing him before climbing onto a mid-level turnbuckle and shoving his groin near her face.

Following the event, Hemme voiced her displeasure with Aries’ actions via Twitter, deeming it “unacceptable.” Late Saturday night, Aries appeared to address the incident though the social networking outlet, writing, “Pretty nuts, some of the junk people get the balls to say over the net, knowing they couldn’t to your face…Eh, anyway, time to sack out.”

  • Dixie Carter Talks About Recently Meeting Stephanie McMahon

TNA President Dixie Carter recently spoke with the UK’s Sky News Radio about meeting Stephanie McMahon and Triple H at the funeral of Reid Flair’s:

“It was actually a very sad meeting. We met at the church at Ric Flair’s son’s funeral. She and Hunter were there, and the three of us had never met before. I was there with Sting and we were just kind of put in this back room waiting for each other.

It was a very interesting meeting. They’re lovely people; I just wished them luck personally. They had a big weekend with WrestleMania coming up, and I did so publicly. Look, I have a different philosophy than maybe other people do. I think competition is healthy; I think to not want to have competition is absolutely ludicrous.

I think it’s better for the fans, it’s better for the product and it makes us all work harder. And if we want to grow wrestling to be as big as it can be globally, I think that’s important. So, she did respond. I think there were a lot of tweets between the fans, but she did respond in a very kind manner.”
