Mickie James Botches Promo, Dixie Comments On Hogan

– Former WWE Diva Mickie James returned to TNA Wrestling at Thursday’s live iMPACT! James was interviewed on the live TNA Reaction special that followed iMPACT! and was interviewed backstage about her role in the TNA Knockouts title match at Bound For Glory this Sunday. During the promo, she referred to Madison Rayne as the TNA Knockouts Champion, which was a mistake – as the current title holder is Angelina Love.

Despite the fac tthat Mickie James’ name was spelled “Mickey James” on an an on-screen graphic during iMPACT!, the TNA website is  referring to her as “Mickie” (not Mickey) – so the one instance of her name being spelled “Mickey” appears to be a mistake.

Mickie James was trending worldwide on Twitter last night following her live appearance.

She will serve as the special referee in the four-way Knockouts Title match at Bound For Glory.

– Dixie Carter wrote the following on Twitter last night following iMPACT:

“Hulk’s still in hospital after surgery yesterday. He’s fighting through & I’m confident this won’t keep him down. Keep him in your prayers”

To add further details, Angle leapt off the top of the cage and Abyss attempted to perform the Black Hole Slam. However, Abyss dropped Angle awkwardly on his back during the sequence. While Angle wasn’t super hot at Abyss, he was very concerned with his own safety. (source: Pro Wrestling Torch)

Latest Carter Tease Fails To Generate Buzz, Angle On Facebook

— TNA president Dixie Carter’s most recent teased talent acquisition failed to generate much buzz amongst the locker room.

“Nobody talked about it because nobody cared,” a TNA source told the Pro Wrestling Torch. “No one is big enough to make a splash in our ratings.”

Others in the company echoed similar thoughts as the general feeling is that it will take a creative overhaul to make a significant change, not a talent acquisition.

— Kurt Angle recently confirmed on Twitter that he has an account on Facebook. His page can be reached here.

— Today is TNA Spanish color commentator Hector Guerrero’s birthday. He turns 56 years old.

Hall Possibly Returning To TNA, Dinero Responds To Report, More

— TNA Wrestling president Dixie Carter has discussed bringing Scott Hall back to the organization once he completes rehabilitation, reports Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Hall’s last stint with the organization came to an end shortly after his May 14, 2010 arrest on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting a police officer.

— “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero issued the following statement on his Twitter account in response to a report over the weekend that he has heat with numerous individuals in TNA Wrestling and that he referred to himself in third person during his WWE tenure:

“The Pope” wasn’t born until TNA, kinda hard to say “The Black Pope” in 3rd person, 15min promo Toledo,OH? LMBO. Thanks 4 da publicity~ PHS”

Contrary to his statement, the “Pope” persona was cultivated before he joined TNA.

Shortly after his May 2008 disappearance from WWE airwaves, Dinero was repackaged with a gothic persona by the name of “Black Pope.” He came out completely dressed in black and performed praying gestures during matches. However, the gimmick never made it to television as he was released by the organization in November 2008.

Dixie Carter Reveals When TNA’s “Major Changes” Will Occur

TNA President Dixie Carter appeared on the “Bound For Glory Kickoff Show” on the TNA website and revealed that the “Major Changes” coming to TNA will be revealed on the October 7th live edition of TNA iMPACT!

Carter said she couldn’t believe the response she got after she originally broke the news about the “major changes” earlier this summer, when she said she was so excited that she couldn’t sleep. “I sent out a Tweet and I didn’t think anything about it,” she said. “I was like, ‘Wow, I didn’t really think that one through, did I?'”

Carter described the change as “progressive” – saying, “It’s not a surprise. A lot of people say, ‘Oh, she always says there’s a big surprise and then there’s not a surprise.’ I’ve never said this is a surprise. I said it’s a change,” Carter told Jeremy Borash in a Q&A session. “So, on 10/7, that’s when we’ll start to unveil this change. There will be even more.”

Carter was asked later if she could change anything about TNA – what would it be?  She replied, “Do what I’m going to do on 10/7, but do it even bigger.”

She also said that a top free agent recently sent out feelers about joining TNA. “There was a talent that we wanted very much a couple of years ago and pursued hard,” Carter said. “I got a phone call a couple of days ago saying, ‘You know, this person might be interested in coming to TNA.’ And I go, ‘I don’t think we need him, but thank you, though, for thinking of us.’ And it was just so interesting to me to go from so – I won’t use the word desperate – but it was important that we had bigger stars to build around.”

iMPACT! Going Live In October & More “Major Changes”

TNA Wrestling President Dixie Carter announced on her Twitter account this afternoon that iMPACT! will be held live on Thursday, October 7. She wrote:

“TNA iMPACT! is going LIVE on 10/7. Remember my tweet about how TNA is going to change forever? Stay tuned”

Carter did not indicate whether iMPACT! will be live on a permanent basis. She also did not say where the event will be held. iMPACT! television tapings are currently listed to take place Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays throughout the rest of the year.

Regarding her previous remark in regards to TNA ‘changing forever’, Carter wrote on June 11, “It’s 6:30 a.m. Been up for hours. So excited I can’t sleep. TNA’s about to change forever. Can’t wait to share it w/you, my staff, the talent.”

Dixie Carter Says TNA Has Signed A Top Free Agent

TNA Wrestling President Dixie Carter has posted a message on Twitter.com/TNADixie announcing the company has signed a top free agent:

“Just signed a new talent contract on someone you guys have been asking about. Stay tuned!”

While we haven’t gotten confirmation yet about who has signed with TNA, the timing seems to coincide with the expiration of Carlito’s 90-day no-compete clause. Mickie James has to be another strong possibility here, as she’s available to sign with TNA and has met with Dixie Carter a few times in recent months.

Hogan Subject Of False Rumors, Ex-ECW Champ Declines TNA

– We’ve received a ton of emails about this one …. To put an end to an ugy rumor that’s circulating online, Hulk Hogan is ALIVE and well. TNA Wrestling president Dixie Carter issued the following statement this afternoon regarding The Hulkster:

“HULK HOGAN IS ALIVE AND WELL. He did not drown. Not sure how these rumors get started. Awful.”

– Former ECW World Heavyweight Champion Mikey Whipwreck posted a message on Facebook saying that he declined an offer from TNA to appear at next weekend’s Hardcore Justice PPV:

“For the record, I have no intentions of doing the TNA PPV. I’m happy for the guys that are doing it but its nice to see the little bingo hall company everyone “blew off” back in the day as “insignificant” is called upon every time business is in the toilet.”

— In the UK, this week’s iMPACT! will air on Bravo on Saturday at 11 p.m. and Sunday on Bravo2 at 9 p.m. The broadcast will return to its original Saturday time slot next week. The reason for the two hour preemption is due to the Live European Darts Championship.

Heyman Tells Dixie She Can Keep One Legend, But Fire The Rest

(credit: Wrestling Observer Newsletter)

Sources indicate that in a recent meeting with TNA President Dixie Carter, Paul Heyman emphasized he didn’t believe in drastic changes, bur rather the way to go is with new talent as the key stars while using a few veterans to give them credibility, not unlike how he used Terry Funk in the original ECW. Ironically, Heyman did not support the idea of an ECW invasion when it was brought up, yet Carter went ahead and did it anyway, plugging Tommy Dreamer into the role that essentially would have belonged to Heyman (both on-screen and behind the scenes).

Heyman is also said to have told Carter to her face that of the older legends they have under contract, she could keep one and get rid of the others, and she didn’t seem to understand why. Carter has been loyal to the stars of the past and has been resistant to giving anyone the authority to hire or fire people. This includes Vince Russo and even Jim Ross, back when they were making a serious play for him.

While the Heyman deal is cold, it is nowhere close to being dead. TNA sees Heyman’s asking for points in the company as merely a negotiating tactic and is still hopeful a deal can be reached.

Major News on “Extreme” Makeover for TNA Hard Justice PPV

(credit f4wonline.com)

At the end of tonight’s Impact taping for the 7/22 show, TNA announced the 8/8 Hard Justice PPV will be essentially a remake of the ECW One Night Stand shows from several years ago. Tommy Dreamer even referenced how the 2005 show was supposed to be the end, but Vince McMahon brought it back and ruined it. He got emotional, asking Dixie Carter to give them one last night and she consented, saying the former ECW guys will have full control of the PPV. Dreamer then promised people would see ECW as it should be seen and not what Vince McMahon turned it into.

Dixie Carter Holds Backstage Meeting With Talent in Orlando

(credit f4wonline.com)

-TNA President Dixie Carter held a company meeting this afternoon prior to tonight’s Impact taping, but said nothing about any of the rumors swirling around Paul Heyman, Hulk Hogan or Eric Bischoff.  Rather, she told the wrestlers that they need to tighten up their ring work.  Lots of workers were said to be infuriated by this.

-Speaking of Hogan and Bischoff, neither are at the building tonight, nor are they expected to be there tomorrow.  Bischoff is said to be off at a biker rally while Hogan laying low may actually have more to do with the possibility of Paul Heyman coming in rather than his recent back surgery.  While there is still no deal between the two sides, negotiations are still very much active with the former head of ECW.

-Mick Foley is scheduled to return to TV at the Impact tapings this week.

EDITORIAL: A Plea To Dixie and Jeff, S**t or Get Off The Pot

WARNING:  Some language contained here may not be PG.  Sorry, Vince.

When I posted my “Vince McMahon Joins Twitter” article the other day, it was all in good fun.  Imagining what the 64-year old WWE chairman might say online is quite an entertaining exercise, but that’s really all it was intended for — entertainment.  But funny enough… TNA has a president who actually is active on Twitter and has quite a lot to say.  Even the founder of TNA, Jeff “Vince won’t take me back so, daddy, please help me open a new company” Jarrett has been unable to resist the urge to tweet to his many followers.

For this, I give them credit.  But that’s about where it ends.  Dixie Carter upset many fans when she teased some surprises on her page several weeks ago and, well, Tommy Dreamer debuted.  Perhaps realizing she had whipped her followers into quite a frenzy, she was forced to tone things down a bit later on and tell people that this big surprise was not a change in creative or a new debut, but rather, a series of changes that would become apparent over the course of several weeks.  While “Impact” has certainly been a better show the past two weeks (I’m grading on a curve here), I’d hardly say any significant changes are apparent with the product.   It’s no secret that the company is moving forward with plans for some sort of “extreme invasion” and they want Paul Heyman to not only run the creative end of things, but to be the on-air leader for this new faction.  Yes, ECW circa 2010.  Heyman has now publicly shat on that idea and has laid out very explicitly what it would take to get him to join TNA.  Will the Carters agree to his demands?  Time will tell.

Meanwhile, give her credit, the lady is persistent if nothing else.  Dixie continues to tease something big on her Twitter page, posting the following less than 24 hours ago:

“Oh, if you guys only knew who I met with today….. You will.”

She could meet with Steve Austin, riding a shark through the high seas, all the way to Hollywood to have brunch with Dwayne Johnson, where all three of them proceed to drive cross-country (all the while singing wrestler theme songs) to sit bedside and keep vigil for the vegetative Undertaker… and I STILL wouldn’t care because who could possibly believe what this woman has to say anymore.  So much hype with such little return does nothing to inspire confidence amongst your fanbase.  The endless promises of “revolutionary” changes have brought with it the same writing staff.  The same 1.0 rating.  The same 20,000 PPV buys.  Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, well…

Which brings me to ‘ol Double J.  Seems as though he’s gotten in on the fun, too.  He’s been teasing “big news” on his Twitter page as well this week:

“Just received some huge news!”

“Huge news is happening today and tomorrow…”

Later on, he posted several photos as “hints” as to what the news might be.  The first photo appears to be a shot of an island, the second photo shows a giant spotlight, and a third photo shows an airplane wing.  Really.  From this, I can only deduce one thing: TNA will be flying it’s creative team to a remote island for a real-life version of The Condemned to air on Spike.  We can always hope.

In all seriousness, enough with the teases.  I’m guessing Dixie’s news and the news Jeff is talking about are two entirely different things, but the point is the same.  Your company is losing money.  In fact, people are concerned TNA may not exist 12 months from now.  It may not sound like it, but I’d like to see them succeed.  I’d like to see Heyman, or ANYONE with a vision really, step in and be a real game-changer.  The only thing Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff have changed, thus far, is their underwear.  At least I hope they have.  Quit fucking around and just DO SOMETHING instead of talking about it.

Shit or get off the pot.  Other people need to use it, too, you know.

P.S. Follow me on Twitter, I may have HUGE NEWS in the next few days!!!  Or I may not.

Dixie Carter – “Not Everything Needs To Make Sense”

On Twitter, TNA president Dixie Carter commented on watching the entire Lost series, which has been known to feature numerous plot turns.

“Just finished watching the LOST series. Better late than never. I am more lost than ever but loved it,” Carter wrote. “Not everything needs to make sense.”

TNA star Jeff Hardy re-tweeted her comment, writing, “Love itTNADixie:Not everything needs to make sense!”

Carter and Hardy are not the only fans of Lost in the company as creative head Vince Russo revealed on his Facebook account earlier this year that it is one of his favorite television shows.

Eric Bischoff & Dixie Carter Comment On Hall’s TNA Release

Eric Bischoff opened Thursdays TNA iMPACT broadcast and announced that due to personal reasons, Scott Hall was no longer with the company and The Band were stripped of the TNA Tag Team Titles. A tournament is being held to determine who will face The Motor City Machineguns for the vacant belts at Victory Road.

TNA President Dixie Carter wrote the following on her Twitter about Hall’s release:

“Scott Hall and I talked and together decided he needed time to focus on some personal issues. I am proud of the action he is taking.”

Rumor On What TNA’s “Major Changes” Could Be

If you haven’t been following the story over the weekend, TNA President Dixie Carter has announced that TNA will soon be undergoing some “major changes” that will change the face of the company forever.

Read More: Major Changes Coming to TNA Wrestling Very Soon

Carter wrote on Twitter over the weekend that she had just gotten off the phone with Spike TV President Kevin Kay, and that “He is all in and agrees this will change TNA on every level.”

Speculation has been rampant as to what changes TNA could make that would have such a big impact on the product. Backstage at last night’s TNA Slammiversary pay-per-view, a lot of the talent was talking about the changes, but Dixie Carter has been very tight-lipped about the situation.

SEScoops.com received an email on Monday morning from a source about what the big surprise is. The source has been reliable in the past, but for now, take this as just a rumor. We are told that part of TNA’s “major changes” will be that the company will be dropping the monthly pay-per-view format and instead would be running live specials on Spike TV. It’s still possible that TNA would keep 2-3 pay-per-view events a year on their calendar, but the monthly pay-per-view format has proven to not be profitable for TNA and the company could actually make more money from Spike TV paying them for these live television specials.

Again, this is still a rumor, but it does jive with Dixie Carter’s comments about Spike TV President Kevin Kay being “all in” and on board with TNA’s major changes.

Stay tuned for the latest on this developing story.

Major Changes Coming To TNA Wrestling Very Soon

Earlier this week, we reported that TNA President Dixie Carter posted a message on Twitter that she’s got a “nice surprise” in store for the fans at Slammiversary. Now, things just got a little more interesting.

Carter wrote the following on her Twitter account early Saturday morning:

“It’s 6:30 am. Been up for hours. So excited I can’t sleep. TNA’s about to change forever. Can’t wait to share it w/you, my staff, the talent”

There’s a lot of buzz that TNA has reached out to big names to work on the creative end of the company. PWInsider.com is confirming that two of those names are Kevin Sullivan and Paul Heyman.

Word is that if Paul Heyman would come into TNA, he would need complete control of the creative side of things. With Vince Russo dramatically scaling back his role in TNA, the door is open for a new creative force to come in.

Dixie Carter wrote later in the day:

“Just got off phone w/Spike prez Kevin Kay. He is all in and agrees this will change TNA on every level.”

According to F4WOnline.com, sources say that Dixie Carter was being very secretive about the impending changes, offering only “cryptic remarks” about making sure everyone is on the same page in advance of the changes.

TNA Very Interested In Signing Mickie James Next Month

According to a reliable source in TNA, the company plans to offer Mickie James a Knockouts contract when her 90-day no-compete clause with World Wrestling Entertainment expires in late July.

Earlier this month, TNA president Dixie Carter wrote on Twitter that she and Jeremy Borash attended Mickie James’s album release party in Nashville. This was actually not the first time Carter and James met as the two met in person shortly after the multi-time Women’s Champion release from WWE to begin informal discussions on joining TNA.

Friends of the recently released WWE Diva indicate she’s not looking to do anything wrestling related for the time being as she is concentrating on her country music career. It’s also said that she doesn’t talk about the wrestling industry much these days. Nonetheless, TNA is very interested in signing her.

Mickie James worked for TNA back in 2003, before her time in WWE. Here are some pictures of Mickie in TNA, wrestling as Alexis Laree:

Carter Watches James Perform, Abyss Receives Stitches, More

— TNA president Dixie Carter noted on her Twitter account this evening that she attended Mickie James’ CD release party.

“Just left my first music showcase in a while. Wanna guess the artist? Mickie James. Thanks for the invite girl,” Carter wrote.

James held her release party, promoting Strangers & Angels, in Carter’s (and TNA’s) backyard of Nashville, Tennessee.

— Abyss received 17 stitches in his arm as a result of the attack by Desmond Wolfe that aired on tonight’s episode of iMPACT!.

— There has been talk of doing shoot interviews with talent that would be exclusively sold on ShopTNA.com. The video releases would also feature matches and other footage.

TNA Officials Recommend Dixie Carter Fire 15 To 20 People

(source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter)

TNA is reportedly going through a lot of cost-cutting measures although nothing has been specifically said other than they are happening. Only one person has been let go at this point, ring announcer David Penzer, and it wasn’t cost-cutting as much as just him having heat.

What is known is that those close to TNA president Dixie Carter recommended an extensive list of talent — 15 to 20 names — to be cut. Thus far, Carter has refused to cut those requested since she doesn’t want talent who have been loyal to the organization be unemployed in these uncertain economic times.

Nonetheless, the company has greatly increased its payroll since last year, and most business aspects are either the same or down, with the exception of a huge increase in merchandise sales at live events.

TNA Interested In Women’s Wrestler Following Fans’ Requests

Dixie Carter recently had her Twitter account flooded with a number of requests from fans to sign independent women’s wrestler Lizzy Valentine, who performed in the short-lived MTV series Wrestling Society X as a valet for Evan Bourne. The overwhelming number of requests caught the eye of the TNA president as she’s expected to receive another tryout match soon. It cannot be said that Carter does not listen to the fans as Shannon Moore returned to the organization after she was besieged with requests to sign the tattooed grappler.

Valentine took part in tryout dark match last December, defeating Amber O’Neal. She can be seen on Wrestlicious, performing under the name “Kandi Kisses.” This August will mark her ten-year anniversary in the wrestling industry, which has included lengthy stops in Mexico and Europe.

Update On Maria’s TNA Negotiations, Carter Upset With Tara

— Former WWE Diva Maria Kanellis has had discussions with TNA regarding joining the organization, but money is said to be the main hold up.

— TNA president Dixie Carter had a meeting with Lisa Marie Varon (a/k/a Tara) last Monday concerning her recent blog post criticizing the organization. Varon was upset because she felt some people in TNA were bad mouthing her on the way out. Carter said she never said one bad word about her. Things were then settled as Varon apologized for her online remarks.

Also note, there are still no plans for Varon to remain with the organization. Her contract expires on Friday, May 21.

— TNA has held a World X Cup Tournament every other year since 2004, with the last one taking place in 2008. This year would have been the next one but there are no plans for a tournament at this time.
