Standout independent wrestler Darby Allin has joined All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
The former pro skateboarder has made a name for himself on the independent scene in recent years. He’s thrilled audiences across the world with his high-flying daredevil style. He’s been a mainstay in EVOLVE while also competing for Major League Wrestling (MLW), Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), Bar Wrestling, DEFY Wrestling and more.
Darby Allin appeared at the conclusion of the latest episode of AEW’s The Road To Double or Nothing Youtube series, which you can view below. He will most likely be part of the Double or Nothing card, but his first advertised match for AEW takes place a month later.
Darby Allin vs. Cody Rhodes has been confirmed for FYTER FEST, AEW’s live wrestling event that is part of the CEO gaming event in Daytona Beach, FL on June 29th.
AEW also revealed that former WCW star Glacier will be a participant in the Double or Nothing Over Budget Battle Royal. Glacier admits that he is not the wrestler he once was and there will be wrestlers in the match who are probably half his age. That said, he can still muster what it takes to compete at a high level and plans to show fans what he’s got at Double or Nothing.
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has officially signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
Jim Ross has signed a groundbreaking 3-year deal with AEW. Effective immediately, JR will take on the role as Senior Advisor in what the company says is “the most lucrative deal in pro wrestling commentary history.”
Jim Ross’ first in-ring appearance for AEW will take place at Double or Nothing, which takes place Saturday, May 25th from Las Vegas, NV at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
According to a press release sent in by AEW, Ross will also work closely with senior leaders at AEW on their roadmap to shift and reinvent the wrestling landscape.
“I’ve been part of the wrestling community since I was 7 years old, and there’s no greater thrill than welcoming the voice that I grew up with, Jim Ross, to our AEW family,” said Tony Khan, President of AEW. “We all share a common goal to make this the true golden age, to make this the greatest time ever to be a professional wrestling fan. And, as a business, we also seek to make this a new golden age for the performers and our staff members. Our entire team is thrilled to have Jim onboard and we can’t wait to shake things up together.”
“We’re all excited about having the legendary voice of our childhood come here and help the new generation of talent with his expertise,” said Nick Jackson, EVP at AEW.
“I’m moving on in a very positive way to this timely opportunity to be on the ground floor of one of the most exciting moments in the history of pro wrestling,” said Jim Ross. “I’ve known Tony, Cody, The Young Bucks and Kenny for a long time, and I know they’re going to change the world of pro wrestling. Their roster is already packed with top-level talent and up-and-comers. They’ve got a huge show coming up in May. They’ve brought in game-changing partners like KultureCity. And they’ve got an all-inclusive, welcoming culture like I’ve never seen before. I’m ready to change the world with them.”
As seen below, Jim Ross is featured on the latest episode of AEW’s Road to Double Or Nothing YouTube series.
Cody Rhodes’ Nightmare Family Youtube Channel has published Episode 5 of AEW’s Road To Double Or Nothing series. As usual, this installment had a new newsworthy revelations.
The episode began with Chris Jericho talking about the significance of him being part of AEW. Jericho says his involvement legitimizes the company and takes them to a different level. He acknowledges ‘with great power comes great responsibility.’ He is the biggest star in AEW, he elevates everyone else and he is the reason fans will give AEW a look.
Jericho hyped his match against Kenny Omega at Double or Nothing. It still bothers him that Kenny won their first encounter at last year’s NJPW Wrestle Kingdom event. Omega is the best wrestler in the world, but he’s the greatest of all time.
AEW Chief Brand Officer Brandi Rhodes announced a new partnership with Kulture City to make Double or Nothing pro wrestling’s first-ever Sensory Inclusive event. There are many wrestling fans with medical conditions that prevent them from experiencing live events in a comfortable way. Through the partnership with Kulture City, fans with autism, PTSD, strong anxiety symptoms and stroke survivors will be able to enjoy the show with assistance that caters to their individual needs.
Visit KultureCity.com to learn more about this great organization.
We are incredibly happy to announce a partnership between @AEWrestling and KultureCity ( @kulturec ) beginning with the First Sensory Inclusive Wrestling Event in History, #DoubleOrNothing May 25th in Las Vegas! For more information on KultureCity visit – https://t.co/w4rP7yCC91pic.twitter.com/rnaaqQt180
Brandi also announced a new signing to AEW’s Women’s division, Bea Priestley. Priestley is based out of the UK and has wrestled for various promotions including Stardom. She will make her AEW debut in July at Fight For The Fallen. That show from Jacksonville, FL will benefit the local community and those who have been affected by gun violence.
Bea Priestley’s significant other Will Ospreay congratulated her on the news:
She’s on a plane right now. But I’m so proud of you @BeaPriestley #AEW
If you’re a fan of Being The Elite, you know AEW star Adam “Hangman” Page needs to tone up his physique and should not be walking around in ‘full gear.’
Page knows it too, thanks to Cody’s relentless hazing. In an effort to get himself (and wrestling fans) in better physical shape, Page has announced the Full Gear Challenge.
With less than three months until AEW Double or Nothing, Page wrote on social media, “For the next 89 days I’ll be documenting my journey to get in shape here on my Instagram. Whether your goal for DON is to lose some weight, add some mass, or to somehow do both at the same time, I hope you’ll join me.”
He’s encouraging fans to share their progress using the hashtag #fullgearchallenge.
Page added, “No more pancake ass or chubby cheeks. We can do this together.”
Adam Page has a lot of work to do if he plans on being ‘full gear ready’ by late May. But it’s a commendable effort on his part.
All Elite Wrestling made history this week when tickets for Double or Nothing sold out in less than 5 minutes.
AEW star Chris Jericho posted a video on Twitter taking full credit for the historic achievement. Jericho said the entire AEW crew was celebrating their success, but he’s actually the one who is solely responsible.
WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took notice of Jericho’s video and got a kick out of it. Rock joked that he loves Jericho’s babyface promos and congratulated him on Double or Nothing selling out.
It’s not the first time The Rock has taken notice of big happenings in the world of pro wrestling outside of WWE. Back in September, The Rock congratulated Cody on winning the NWA World Heavyweight Championship at All In.
All Elite Wrestling’s first show, Double or Nothing, is officially sold out.
Monday’s pre-sale saw a staggering demand that exceeded the success of All In last year. Fans who were not in the ‘waiting room’ at AXS.TV within minutes of tickets going on sale were shut out. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that over 43,000 fans were attempting to purchase tickets during the pre-sale.
To put that in perspective, Cody recently told Jim Ross that AEW was planning to configure the MGM Grand Garden Arena to accommodate 11,600 fans.
The first women’s match has been announced for All Elite Wrestling’s first pay-per-view event, Double or Nothing.
On Tuesday night, Cody’s Nightmare Family Youtube channel dropped a new installment of its The Road To Double or Nothing series. During the latest episode, AEW star Britt Baker was shown having a video call with AEW’s ‘Chief Brandi Officer.’ Baker saw some of AEW’s new female talent at last week’s Double or Nothing ticket announcement party and wanted to know if she’d be part of the big show.
Later in the episode, Cody and Brandi were looking through match graphics for Double or Nothing and they displayed two new matches for the event. The first is a women’s triple threat match between Britt Baker, Nyla Rose and Kyle Rae.
The other confirmed match is Cody’s. Unfortunately, his opponent was blurred out and we are left to wonder for at least another week.
Updated Card for Double Or Nothing
The following matches have now been confirmed for Double or Nothing:
Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho
Hangman Page vs. PAC
Britt Baker vs. Nyla Rose vs. Kylie Rae
Based on what we saw at the Double or Nothing Ticket Announcement party, the Young Bucks vs. Lucha Bros is also very likely.
The Elite still has the hot hand when it comes to moving tickets.
A ticket pre-sale was held on Monday for All Elite Wrestling‘s first show, Double or Nothing. It did not take long for those tickets to sell out. Some fans reported long delays in the “waiting room” at AXS.com, where tickets were sold.
AEW took steps to make sure fans got the tickets instead of scalpers, but ringside seats (face value: $211) are already on the secondary market for thousands of dollars.
If you were hoping to score Double or Nothing tickets but were shut out on Monday, the general public onsale goes down this Wednesday (2/13) at 9am PST/ 12pm EST.
All Elite Wrestling has released the seating chart and the ticket prices for their upcoming Double or Nothing event which will take place at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on May 25, 2019.
Let’s start with the most expensive front row seats: these go for $211.10. This tier consists of the first three rows ringside.
The second tier at $178.40 will consist of the fourth and fifth rows. The floor section seats are priced at $156.60.
The cheapest ones are the $36.70 seats in the 200 section.
Tickets will be sold starting February 13. The pre-sale tickets link starts at 12PM PST/3PM EST today on the promotion’s website.
AEW had reportedly received “thousands” of pre-sale code requests for the event. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported that AEW received 12,000 code requests on their website past Thursday. This would be good news for the promotion as the MGM Arena is a 14,000 seater.
Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega are going to meet in the ring at All Elite Wrestling’s Double or Nothing event.
The promotion’s official Twitter account announced on Sunday night that Omega vs. Jericho has been signed for Double Or Nothing on May 25th in Las Vegas.
The match was also confirmed on the recently released episode 138 of Being The Elite.
The two met in the ring for the first time in 2017 when Omega was the victim of Jericho’s attack at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Power Struggle event.
This added momentum to their set match at Wrestle Kingdom 12 in 4 January 2018 where Omega defeated Jericho in a No Disqualification match and retained the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter awarded the match a five-star rating.
At the All In event in September last year, Chris Jericho who disguised himself as Pentagon Jr. again attacked Kenny Omega with two Codebreakers.
Several matches were either confirmed or set up for the first official event under the AEW (All Elite Wrestling) banner on Thursday night in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand Garden poolside at the Double Or Nothing ticket announcement party.
New talents made their first appearances for the newly launched promotion such as Sonny Kiss, Sammy Guevara, Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent Baretta), Kenny Omega, Yuka Sakazaki, Aja Kong, Kylie Rae, and Nyla Rose.
The AEW Double or Nothing event is scheduled to go down on May 25th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and will mark the first official event under the AEW banner. Here are the matches for the show:
Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho
The Young Bucks vs. Lucha Bros
Hangman Page vs. PAC
SCU (Christopher Daniels, Scorpio Sky & Frankie Kazarian) vs. Cima & two OWE talents
Although not confirmed, Kylie Rae vs. Nyla Rose was also hinted at but not confirmed by Conrad Thompson, Alex Marvez and Excalibur, who were serving as the hosts/commentators.
The promotion is expected to announce more matches for this upcoming event in the coming months. The general public tickets go on sale on Wednesday at noon ET while there is a pre-sale sign-up available at AllEliteWrestling.com and runs through Sunday at 10 p.m. ET.
This Thursday, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is hosting the Double or Nothing ticket announcement party from the MGM Grand hotel and casino in Las Vegas, NV. As part of the hype for Double or Nothing, Cody Rhodes’ Nightmare Family Youtube channel has been running a new web series, Road to Double or Nothing.
Episode 2 dropped this week. The episode included The Elite scouting UK star Jimmy Havoc, a profile on “Hangman” Page and the first tease of Cody’s Double or Nothing opponent. Towards the end of video, AEW Coordinator Michael Cuellari tells Cody that somebody called again, but the person’s name is bleeped out. Cody acknowledged that the call was ‘personal’ and said he’s no rush to get back to the person.
“No, no, I don’t want to handle that one,” Cody said. “I’ll call him back when I feel like it.” Cody then squirmed when Cuellari mentioned that Cody still does not have an opponent for Double or Nothing.
Perhaps we’ll find out more details at Thursday’s event. AEW is teasing “new signings, exciting new partnerships and a surprise special guest.”
Check back here Thursday night. SEScoops will be streaming the AEW Double or Nothing Ticket Announcement party starting at 9pm EST / 6pm PST.
Finn Balor Trolls With AEW Friends
For whatever reason, WWE Superstar Finn Balor has been posting photos on social media alongside AEW stars Chris Jericho and PAC.
All Elite Wrestling will present Double or Nothing on May 25th, 2019 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The announcement was made at today’s AEW rally by Nick Jackson.
“We’re running May 25th in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand Garden Arena!” Nick Jackson shouted before either Matt Jackson or Cody had the chance to.
MGM Grand Garden Arena
The famous arena has a capacity listed at just under 18,000. The MGM has hosted numerous high-profile boxing and MMA events. WCW used to run their Halloween Havoc PPV from the Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas as well. The highest attendance WCW ever got for their Havoc shows in the arena was 12, 500 for Hogan vs Piper in 1997. Their final Halloween Havoc in the building in 2000 drew under 8000 for a card featuring Booker T vs Scott Steiner for the WCW title and Goldberg vs both members of Kronik. Several episodes of Nitro were also filmed in the arena.
The MGM Grand Garden Arena has hosted over 40 UFC cards. It has also been the venue for several Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Mike Tyson fights as well.
Statement From Tony Khan On All Elite Wrestling
All Elite Wrestling President, Tony Khan, sent out a statement earlier today.
“The wrestling community is a constant; its members are diverse, we are physically located on all corners of the planet, yet we are constantly connected. Recently, a new family has formed, bonded by love and respect for wresting but armed with a vision and resources that have never before been available to the wrestling community. Our objective is to connect our community closer than ever before through All Elite Wrestling, or AEW.”
All Elite Wrestling is holding the AEW Double or Nothing Rally this afternoon from the TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida.
Conrad Thompson and Sirius XM NFL Radio host Alex Marvez kicked off the live stream by welcoming everybody and talking about the significance of today’s gathering. The guys spoke about the events that have brought us to this day, including the success of Being The Elite, All In selling out and the grassroots following of this movement.
Conrad says wrestling history will be made today and teased that AEW will ‘break the Internet’ with what transpires today. Strong hype from Conrad as we’re about to officially kick off the rally.
After some technical difficulties, the rally kicks off with a nice pyro display and Conrad Thompson and Alex Marvez on stage behind the podium. Conrad hypes an introduces SoCal Uncensored. Scorpio Sky plays to the Jacksonville crowd and says he doesn’t feel this is the worst town they’ve ever been in. Christopher Daniels shows off SCU’s Jacksonville t-shirt before getting to business. He says there’s been a lot of speculation about SCU’s future, but they’re now officially part of the All Elite Wrestling roster. We now have Jacksonville Jaguars cheerleaders on stage. Kazarian spoke for a second before the music hit and SCU left with the cheerleaders.
Conrad and Alex welcomed All Elite Wrestling’s Executive Vice President, Cody Rhodes. Pyro goes off and the fans chant “Thank you Cody.” Cody says he was standing in the ring at All In surrounded by the fans and he knew right then and there, they need to keep that passion going. The Elite has a saying: Change The World. To do that, sometimes you need to change the world you live in. All he’s ever known is professional wrestling. Long ago, his mentor taught him that compared to sports stars and professional entertainers, pro wrestlers are always the least paid. At All Elite Wrestling, they’re going to change that. “We’re going to change the wrestling economy.” Happy wrestlers means happy fans and the fans come first.
Cody says in All Elite Wrestling, wins and losses will matter like they’ve never mattered before. Cody acknowledges the rowdy fans and says he’s not going to coach the fans on how to act. He’s surrounded by a great team and he introduces The Young Bucks.
Fans chant “Thank you, Young Bucks” as Matt Jackson says, “This is unreal.” Matt said a few months ago, they achieved their goal of putting 10,000 fans in an arena for All In. They broke all the rules of how to put on a pro wrestling show. They were eventually approached by the Khan family, who asked them, “Do you guys really want to change the world?” They said, “We can help.” A promotion that welcomes all elite talent. They don’t care about race or gender or sexual orientation. Their doors are open to all. Matt announces All Elite Wrestling has partnered with Chinese wrestling group oWe wrestling and promises the fans will love these guys.
They have another big announcement to make. Double or Nothing takes place on May 25th, 2019 from Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Out next is Chief Brand Officer Brandi Runnels. Brandi says AEW will absolutely have a women’s division, but that’s not all. They want to be a strong women’s division with the best female wrestlers in the entire world. To accomplish that, a lot of work needs to be done. Brandi announces the women of All Elite Wrestling will be paid equally to the men. Brandi says she’s traveled the world and has come across tremendous female talent, but AEW didn’t have to look far to find their first female signing. Brandi introduces All In competitor, Dr. Britt Baker, who said she’s excited to be part of AEW.
Conrad Thompson is out next and he’s interrupted by MJF, Maxwell J. Friedman. MJF trash talked Conrad and cut a heel promo talking about Jacksonville being a dump of a town and being better than everyone in the crowd. While MJF was arguing with the Jacksonville Jaguars mascot, he was attacked by Joey Janela, who was accompanied by Penlope Ford. Janela said in 2019, he’s All Elite and shot t-shirts into the crowd.
Alex Marvez announces over 100,000 people are live streaming this rally across various outlets on social media, which is pretty wild. Conrad introduces Cody Rhodes’ favorite wrestler, the man they call the future of the business, Adam “Hangman” Page. Hangman says he looks at today as his first day on the job. He doesn’t have any corporate overlords controlling him like a puppet and telling him what to say. The fans are his boss and for that reason, he’ll work harder for them than he ever has before. Page says that he intends to be the first-ever All Elite Wrestling Champion. He is interrupted by .. PAC! The two had a staredown and Hangman said he accepts a challenge from PAC.
Conrad introduces Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks once again. Cody says they have another announcement. Their second show will be taking place in Jacksonville, Florida. Not only will it be taking place in Jacksonville, but a large portion of the gate will be going to benefit victims of gun violence. We’re about to go off the air until … wait a minute, it’s .. Chris Jericho! Jerichos says he’s not here for the money. He believes in doing something different, something new. He’s a maverick, he’s an outlaw, he’s a pariah – he’s Chris Jericho, baybay. Chris Jericho says this is the day that AEW begins. He will be there on May 25th in Las Vegas and you better be too. Jericho says AEW is here to change everything as pyro goes off in the background above the stadium.
All Elite Wrestling’s Double or Nothing rally takes place later today at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida. Starting at 5pm ET. AEW executives were in Jacksonville on Monday afternoon scouting out the location. AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes tweeted these photos of himself with AEW President Tony Khan and his wife, AEW Chief Brand Officer Brandi Runnels.
Scoping out the site of tomorrow’s Double or Nothing Rally!
On Monday, it was revealed that Being The Elite regulars Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky have signed with All Elite Wrestling. The SoCal Uncensored trio confirmed on Twitter they are headed to Jacksonville for the Double or Nothing Rally.
What To Expect
At the very least, we should get some concrete information regarding the date and location of All Elite Wrestling’s inaugural event, Double or Nothing. The most prominent rumor is that Double or Nothing is headed to Las Vegas during Memorial Day Weekend (late May), but that is simply a rumor at this time.
AEW is hyping, “attendees can expect the unexpected as the rally will showcase the true spirit of wrestling entrepreneurialism and feature special guests, inside info and limited edition merchandise.” Fans are already speculating about what sort of guests will be showing up. One man who can be ruled out is Kenny Omega, who remains under contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling through the end of the month. Omega has announced he is leaving New Japan and considering jumping to AEW or WWE.
Signing the Best Bout Machine would be a tremendous coup for All Elite. That said, we don’t know if Omega has decided his next move. Even if he is leaning towards joining AEW, he would need the blessing of New Japan to appear at the rally.
SEScoops will be covering the Double or Nothing Rally this afternoon. Check back later for our coverage.
It seems the majority of pro wrestling fans are eager for all things All Elite Wrestling ever since the promotion was officially announced their YouTube show, Being The Elite.
Curiosity, excitement, and unfettered anticipation surround the new company, and all eyes seem to be on their every move. Including WWE’s.
AEW will be hosting a free fan rally this coming January 8th in Jacksonville, Florida. You can read their official press release here.
According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, WWE representatives will be “monitoring” the rally. Although there was no deeper explanation as to what this entails, it’s an indication that AEW is on WWE’s radar.
Double Or Nothing
The rally itself will be held at TIAA Bank Field, beginning at 5 PM local time. This location happens to be within walking distance for that night’s episode SmackDown Live.
Not one to miss an opportunity, AEW has seemingly capitalized on WWE’s Jacksonville appearance. The rally will undoubtedly entice a number of fans, from hardcore Elite fans to casual WWE fans, and all those in between.
Considering how close they are to one another, chances are high that AEW will be able to find new fans and spread further awareness of their show, ‘Double Or Nothing.’
If you’re attending SmackDown, will you be checking out the rally?
Wrestling fans around the world are still buzzing from the New Year’s Day announcement of All Elite Wrestling, a new promotion from Tony Khan, Cody and Brandi Rhodes and The Young Bucks. This coming Tuesday (January 8th), a rally will take place at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida to promote the league’s first live event, Double or Nothing.
The rally, which takes place less than a mile from where WWE SmackDown Live will be held that night, kicks off at 5pm ET. If you’re in the Jacksonville area, this definitely something to check out in person. If you’re unable to attend live, don’t sweat it. All Elite Wrestling will be streaming the rally online via several online channels, so you can still be part of the action. The Double or Nothing Rally will be streamed at:
A press release sent in by AEW Chief Brand Officer Brandi Runnels states, “Keeping in true The Elite fashion, attendees can expect the unexpected as the rally will showcase the true spirit of wrestling entrepreneurialism and feature special guests, inside info and limited edition merchandise.”
At the very least, we should learn the date and location of Double or Nothing. Stay tuned.
Do you plan on watching the AEW Double or Nothing Rally live?
As you probably know by now, The Elite’s major New Year’s announcement was the official formation of All Elite Wrestling. Details surrounding the new group will be covered here at SEScoops extensively in the coming days, but let’s start with the news of AEW’s first event.
The first live wrestling show under the AEW banner will be titled, Double or Nothing. “Double or Nothing” is a gambling term referencing the act of doubling down on initial success with the risk of going for broke. The Double or Nothing name is a nod to the wildly successful All In show, which was the genesis of this All Elite Wrestling venture. It’s also a reference to where the show might be taking place.
We learned exclusively back in October that The Elite was scouting locations for Double or Nothing. The group considered a couple locations on the West Coast before settling on Las Vegas. For what it’s worth, the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas is one of the venues followed by the official All Elite Wrestling Twitter account.
It has been rumored that AEW: Double or Nothing will be held during a holiday weekend, with Memorial Day weekend at the end of May being the logical timeframe. However, we have not been able to confirm this independently.
Shortly after the All Elite Wrestling announcement, it was revealed that The Elite will be holding a Double or Nothing Rally this coming Tuesday, January 8th at the TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida. The rally, which is free for all fans, will feature a “special announcement” by The Elite.
