Jim Ross Predicts The Rock Will Wrestle In WWE Again In The Future

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross recently spoke to South African website Sowetan Live about the success of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in Hollywood, as well as his thoughts on whether or not we have seen the last of “The Great One” inside a WWE ring.

Below are highlights from the article:

On his thoughts on how The Rock reached the success he has in Hollywood: “One of the reasons he’s one of the biggest stars in Hollywood is because he made it his goal to be that, years and years and years of having that goal and he had the drive to make it happen. He wanted when he first started to make it big in wrestling.”

On his feelings that we haven’t seen the last of The Rock inside the squared circle for WWE: “I am of the belief … that The Rock, knowing the competitor and the perfectionist he is, will want to go out on his terms and not anyone else’s. My belief is that we have not seen the last of The Rock in the ring. Just knowing him and his competitive nature and the fact that he loves the genre, his life and his family’s life in the business I would think that he would want to go out of the business under better circumstances than leaving where his last match resulted in an injury which pushed him to the sideline and didn’t let him complete the match as he would have loved to have done. He can go out on a more healthier, and higher note.”

The Rock Becomes Latest Celebrity To Join The “Milk Mustache” Campaign

The following press release was issued on Tuesday:

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Powers Up with Protein to Save the Day

WASHINGTON, Aug. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ — Actor, producer, athlete and author Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson knows the importance of protein to fuel his days – juggling work, family time and fitness. With no time to slow down, he starts each morning with milk to help power his potential and set the stage for whatever the world may throw his way.

In his first print ad with the National Milk Mustache “got milk?®” Campaign, Johnson is seen saving a young girl’s cat from a tree while sporting the iconic Milk Mustache.

The ad is a continuation of the story Johnson brought to life in the campaign’s first-ever Super Bowl commercial this year, sharing what happened after he saved the morning meal – and the world – with milk.

The ad copy reads, “Protein to save the day. 8 grams in every 8-oz. glass. got milk?”

Including milk with breakfast is a healthy habit that has helped Johnson save the day on more than one occasion. The winning breakfast beverage contains high-quality protein – 8 grams in every 8-oz. glass – and tastes great, making it an ideal way for Johnson and his family to start the day.

“I always look at protein as the anchor to my day,” said Johnson, “My entire family’s morning is anchored by protein, protein comes from milk. Breakfast without milk is like a Rock movie without Rock saving the world.”

The Rock’s New “Tooth Fairy” Movie Opens At #4

Dwayne Johnson stars in The Tooth Fairy

Dwayne Johnson stars in The Tooth Fairy

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s new “Tooth Fairy”had a rough start at the box office over the weekend, opening in fourth place with $14.5 million.

By comparison, here are the opening weekend ticket sales for his previous three movies, from BoxOfficeMojo.com:

  • Planet 51 (09): $12,286,129
  • Race to Witch Mountain (3/09): $24,402,214
  • Get Smart (6/08): $38,683,480

Movie critics haven’t been to kind to the Tooth Fairy either. RottenTomatoes.com, which compiles movie reviews from critics and moviegoers, gave the site a 15/100 review and had the following consensus:

Dwayne Johnson brings the full force of his charm (and his appropriately pale chompers) to the title role, but flat direction and a committee-written script render The Tooth Fairy unacceptably dull.

You can’t win ’em all. The Rock still has enough star power where he can put out a crappy kids movie, make another $5 million and be alright, but he’s not bulletproof and should pick his roles more carefully in the future.

The Rock Discusses His Favorite Matches, Boogeyman Update

— Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is featured on YouTube’s Celebrity Playlists page, which has the former WWE Champion making note of his favorite videos on the website, including wrestling matches. — Speaking of Johnson, his latest family feature film, Tooth Fairy, opens today in an estimated 3,344 theaters. Originally scheduled for release on November 13, 2009, it was moved to mid-January to avoid competition with 20th Century Fox’s other film, Fantastic Mr. Fox. Those within the movie industry predict it will open with around $18.0 million this weekend at the box office, which is what Johnson’s movies typically do.

— Marty Wright, who performed as The Boogeyman in World Wrestling Entertainment, is now accepting independent bookings under his new persona, “The Night Crawler.” He is accepting bookings for personal appearances, autograph signings, and wrestling matches through Bill Behrens at showbis@aol.com.

— Lilian Garcia is auctioning off the black bra she wore during a November 2003 episode of Monday Night Raw when Jackie Gayda walked over to her following a Bra and Panties Match with Trish Stratus and ripped her shirt open. You can view the auction at the following link.

The Rock Hypes His WWE Return, Might Wrestle (VIDEO)

The GREAT One .. Dwayne "The ROCK" Johnson

The GREAT One .. Dwayne "The ROCK" Johnson

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson spoke to Sports Illustrated this week to promote his new “Tooth Fairy” movie. The former WWE superstar stated once again that he wants to return to WWE to host WWE RAW and was actually supposed to host the show earlier this month:

“I do plan on going back and hosting. I was actually gonna go back this month, but the day I was going to host, I had to go to Mexico for promotion of the movie, so we had to cancel that,” Johnson said.

Johnson says his return to WWE, rumored to take place this summer, will be more than just a typical one-night guest hosting gig:

“I’ve remained close with Vince McMahon over the years, but here’s the key. It’s not just to go back and host. I don’t want to do that. I want to go back and host and do something special. I want to entertain the fans in ways they haven’t been entertained in years.”

Johnson appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman on CBS this week and spoke a lot about WWE and his time in pro wrestling. Johnson described the rush he gets from a live WWE crowd like nothing else in entertainment and said he’ll always be “The Rock.”

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross commented about Rock’s Letterman appearance in his latest blog:

“Loved it on Letterman when Dwayne said that he would always be “The Rock” which was not only true but had to make wrestling fans around the Globe feel good. I don’t ever see the Rock wrestling again but I know that he will host Raw sometime in the future to reconnect with his fans and to promote his latest project.”

Johnson also appeared on ESPN’s SportsCenter where he spoke about his WWE return and had a funny interaction with former WWE announcer and ESPN host Jonathan Coachman. The most newsworthy item from the interview is that Johnson now says he “would never rule out” wrestling a match for WWE again:

“In terms of wrestling a match, I really don’t have any interest. I would love to go back and guest-host and entertain the audience. I could still do the physical things – Rock Bottom and People’s Elbow. I could still do all that and kick ass and have a great time. As far as wrestling a match, I’m not too sure if I see that, but I would never rule it out.”

Here’s the full ESPN SprotsCenter interview:

Why The Rock Can’t Host RAW, Steamboat Jr. At Developmental

– As previously reported, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson turned down an offer from WWE to host the January 11th edition of RAW due to a scheduling conflict. Johnson will be in Mexico next week promoting his new movie, “The Tooth Fairy.” There are still hopes within WWE that he’ll come in to host some time before WrestleMania.

While he has been using The Rock name in advertising for the movie, he said it’s not because he’s going back to the name but because there is a line in the movie trailers that says, “Get ready to be rocked” and they are using The Rock name as a play on words. Johnson says it doesn’t matter to him one way or the other if The Rock name is used. He will be appearing on several shows over the next few weeks to promote Tooth Fairy including Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel, David Letterman, Good Morning America, Today, Regis & Kelly, ESPN, BET and the NFL Network.

– Ricky Steamboat Jr. arrived in Tampa this week and will be starting with WWE’s developmental territory FCW shortly.

– WWE Hall of Famer Roddy Piper will be shooting an episode of CBS show Cold Case later this month. The episode will have a pro wrestling theme and air in February or March.

– Michelle McCool hasn’t been wrestling that much as of late because she is still having problems with her knee.

Update On The Rock & Steve Austin Hosting RAW

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has udpated his JRsBarBQ.com blog with his thoughts on whether WWE legends Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Stone Cold Steve Austin would return for a night to guest host an episode of RAW.

Regarding Johnson, Jim Ross said he was under the impression that The Rock was going to guest-host an episode of Raw in January, but scheduling conflicts “eliminated that opportunity.” Johnson’s new “Toothfairy” movie comes out this month, which would have been the promotional tie-in for Johnson to guest-host. Commercials for Johnson’s “Tooth Fairy” movie have been seen during all WWE shows over the past two weeks.

Johnson said two months ago that he was working on a TV project with WWE beyond just guest hosting RAW for 1 week. Johnson has yet to provide an update on the status of the project.

As for Steve Austin, JR also said he “assumes” Steve Austin will guest host RAW, possibly in March to help promote Austin’s new straight-to-DVD film “Damage” (and of course, WrestleMania).

The Rock & WWE Working On Special TV Project

Hollywood heavyweight Dwayne “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson says he’s working with WWE on a special television project that would be in addition to guest-hosting a future episode of WWE Raw.

During a Thursday morning radio appearance on syndicated (Jack Diamond Morning Show), Johnson was vague on the details but hinted that the project will be significant. “I love that world and being able to entertain, especially if I could go back whether it’s on Smackdown and do a promo or guest-host or we could create this cool show, whatever that may be,” Johnson said. “Especially now, I’m at the point where I can go back and give back to the fans and help out the guys in any way I can.”

Johnson said he and Vince McMahon have a great relationship and he’s looking forward to working with WWE again in the future. “Right now we’re trying to put together – there is always something cool and interesting for me to do. I would like to do something more than just host the show,” Johnson said. “I’m in the process of creating something really cool for the fans – something very special and unique. It will be something like one big entertaining show.”

Dwayne Johnson Makes Ammends With Snubbed Fan

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson got some negative press last month after he refused to sign an autograph for a fan. According to ContactMusic.com, the former WWE champ is making it up to the fan in a big way.

It all started when a security guard on the set of his upcoming film “The Other Guys” approached Johnson and asked for an autograph and a picture for his son. Johnson refused, saying he can’t sign autographs for every single person who asks.

The story was reported in the New York Post newspaper and caught the attention of Johnson. Determined to make the situation right, he tracked down the fan out the fan and offered him a walk-on role in the ‘Other Guys’ movie and an autographed photo for his son. A source told Contact Music, “He was very apologetic.”

Trailer Released For Dwayne Johnson’s “The Tooth Fairy”

The first trailer for Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming movie “The Tooth Fiary” has been released. 20th Century Fox’s synopsis for the movie reads:

Dwayne Johnson is The Tooth Fairy, also known as Derek Thompson, a hard-charging minor league hockey player whose nickname comes from his habit of separating opposing players from their bicuspids. When Derek discourages a youngsters hopes, hes sentenced to one weeks hard labor as a real tooth fairy, complete with the requisite tutu, wings and magic wand. At first, Derek cant handle the tooth bumbling and stumbling as he tries to furtively wing his way through strangers homesdoing what tooth fairies do. But as Derek slowly adapts to his new position, he begins to rediscover his own forgotten dreams.

The movie will hit theaters in the U.S. on January 22, 2010. The cast includes several big Hollywood names, including Billy Crystal, Ashley Judd and Julie Andrews.

Details On Dwayne Johnson’s Next 3 Movies Coming Out

Sources: Wrestling Observer Newsletter, PWInsider.com

Here is the latest on Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s upcoming movie ventures.

His next movie project will be “The Other Guys,” alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Wahlberg, Will Farrell and Michael Keaton. Johnson and Jackson play two standout New York police officers while Farrell and Wahlberg play the “loser cops” who finally get a chance to outshine the heroes. Filming for the movie began this week and it is tentatively scheduled for release in August.

Johnson will begin promoting his next Disney flick, The Tooth Fairy, in December. Johnson plays Derek Thompson, a minor league hockey player who has the nickname “Tooth Fairy” because he knocks opponents’ teeth out. The movie’s plot line has Thompson becoming the real Tooth Fairy as a result of his bad deeds. Sounds plausible. His character in The Tooth Fairy is quite similar to the character he played in The Game Plan; a cocky athlete put into bad position, misbehaves constantly at the beginning, but learns his lesson and becomes a hero in the end. The The Tooth Fairy will hit theaters on January 22, 2010.

Lastly, Johnson lent his voice to the animated movie Planet 51, which is slated to be released on November 20, 2009.
