Edge Sports New Look On Monday Night Raw

Edge is in full swing with his Judgement Day faction and he has a new look to boot.

On the May 9 episode of WWE Raw, Edge made his way to the ring with fellow group members Damian Priest and the recently added Rhea Ripley. Fans quickly noticed Edge’s new look.

Edge’s new look makes sense given his character change. He’s taken on a more sinister role, going as far as to order Rhea Ripley to unleash a post-match attack on Liv Morgan.

We’ve also seen the former “Rated-R Superstar” change his iconic theme song. WWE is leaving no doubt that Edge has gone in a new direction and is all business.

On the May 9 episode of Raw, Edge speared Finn Balor during his match with Priest. The referee saw it and Balor was awarded the DQ win. Ultimately, Judgement Day delivered a beatdown to Balor and AJ Styles after the match.

During the same episode of Raw, the multiple-time world champion hinted at adding even more members to The Judgement Day. The faction has already been dominant on WWE TV, so it’ll be interesting to see how the faction can gain even more steam.

Another Rematch Announced For WrestleMania Backlash

Another rematch has been announced for the WrestleMania Backlash event. WWE has confirmed that AJ Styles will be facing Edge once again at the show.

This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw saw the Rated R Superstar and his new associate Damian Priest in a dark backstage segment. He issued a challenge to Styles.

Sarah Schreiber interviewed the Phenomenal One in the locker room. He accepted the challenge. The room filled with lightning after he agreed to the WrestleMania Backlash match. AJ then told Schreiber to leave for her safety.

The lights went out and Edge and Priest were surrounding Styles when they came back. The duo attacked the former world champion and they stood tall to end the segment.

AJ Styles and Edge originally faced off in a match during the night two of WrestleMania 38. Edge won this match after Priest distracted his opponent.

The previous match between Styles and Edge was praised by fans. Though many believed that it could have been better. The two will now be looking to tell an even better story in their second encounter.

This isn’t the only rematch announced for the upcoming Premium Live Event. Seth Rollins will also be facing his Mania opponent Cody Rhodes once again at the show.

Edge Reveals How Much Longer He Plans On Wrestling

After nearly a decade away from the ring due to a neck injury, Edge returned to competition in 2020 at the Royal Rumble.

Edge knows that his in-ring career is closer to the end than the beginning. He noted in an interview with Steven of Steven’s Wrestling Adventure that he has less than three years left as a wrestler.

“Won’t be ten (years), definitely won’t be ten. I doubt it’ll be five, it’s gonna be before that. I don’t even think it’s going to be three. I don’t know, but I don’t think it’s going to be that long. I know the window is small.”

Edge was forced to retire in 2011 while he was WWE World Heavyweight Champion. He underwent two surgeries on his neck and after being away from the ring for so many years, he started realizing that it was a possibility to come back

“I know it’s not going to last for long and I only have so much in the tank to be able to do that. I want to get out before you start going, ‘his tank is getting low.’ I want to get out while people still have fond memories,” he said.

At WrestleMania 38, Edge was victorious by defeating AJ Styles in singles competition. He is currently aligned with Damian Priest as part of a new direction of having his own group.

AEW Star Takes Shot At Edge’s New Faction

WrestleMania 38 saw Edge apparently starting his own faction in WWE. Now an AEW star has taken a shot at the new group of the Rated R Superstar.

House Of Black member Broody King took on his Twitter to react to a picture of this new alliance. He wrote “When you order House of Black on Wish.com”

https://twitter.com/Brodyxking/status/1511172661119963137

WrestleMania 38 saw Edge facing AJ Styles in a singles match. The bout took place during night two of the event on Sunday, April 4. The ending of this match saw AJ delivering a Styles Clash on former world champion.

After a failed pin attempt, he went to the apron for a Phenomenal Forearm. However, Damian Priest made an appearance at the ringside. Styles got distracted by Priest for a second. This allowed Edge to hit a spear on his opponent and get the victory.

This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw then saw the Attitude Era star cutting a promo about his new partner. The duo also attacked AJ when he came out looking for revenge over his Mania loss.

Reports say that Edge will be leading a faction in the coming times. It will be interesting to see which other WWE stars join him in this group.

Former WWE NXT Champions Pitched For Edge’s New Group

Edge began forming his stable at WrestleMania Sunday when Damian Priest helped him defeat AJ Styles.

Fightful is reporting that former WWE NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa and former NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley have been pitched to join Edge’s new stable. These are just pitches and not confirmed as part of the group just yet.

At WrestleMania 38, Ripley teamed with Liv Morgan alongside Sasha Banks & Naomi, Shayna Baszler & Natalya, and Carmella & Zelina Vega in a fatal 4-way bout where Naomi & Banks walked away with the Women’s Tag Team Titles.

On the flip side, Ciampa’s match at NXT Stand & Deliver was presented to fans as his goodbye to the brand after losing to Tony D’Angelo. He’s been a regular on WWE Monday Night Raw over the last few weeks and even got new theme music.

Ciampa talked about not wanting to move up to Raw or SmackDown in 2019 during an interview on Lilian Garcia’s podcast because of the schedule and the number of bumps left on his bump card and how the NXT schedule is beneficial to him.

Edge Could Be Leading A New Heel Faction After WrestleMania

“The Rated R Superstar” Edge could be getting a new heel faction.

Edge made his surprising heel turn after attacking Styles on the Feb. 28 episode of Monday Night Raw. Since turning heel, Edge has changed his character to be more sinister. The veteran also altered his appearance and started doing promos in the dark with a spotlight. However, WWE may have more creative changes to Edge’s character.

WWE is reportedly considering Edge to lead a heel faction, per Fightful. Former United States Champion Damian Priest is said to be among several names under consideration for this new group.

Edge has been in a few factions during his lengthy WWE career. He started off in The Brood with Gangrel and Christian. Later, he was flanked by two “Edge Heads” that later went on to be known as Zack Ryder (Matt Cardona) and Brian Myers (Curt Hawkins).

Does the Alleged Edge Heel Faction Spoil his Wrestlemania Match?

Edge will face AJ Styles at Wrestlemania 38 Night Two on Apr. 3. As the new heel, it’s unclear if WWE will have Edge lose against “The Phenomenal One.” The report noted that it was initially thought that Priest would challenge Finn Balor at Wrestlemania 38. However, both Priest and Balor will compete in the Andre The Giant Battle Royal on the Apr. 1 episode of Smackdown.

WWE could have Priest involved in the Edge vs. Styles match at Wrestlemania Night Two if the report is accurate. The company hasn’t confirmed or had “The Rated R Superstar” allude to creating a faction. Although, it could also help establish Edge more as their new heel.

Matt Hardy Recalls Michael Hayes Pitching Hardy Boyz vs. Edge & Christian Cinematic Match

Matt Hardy has looked back at the time Michael Hayes pitched a cinematic match long before they were cool.

When Matt made the transition to his “Broken” character, it took on a life of its own. Matt made it cool to do cinematic-style matches. What’s interesting is, he was close to having a cinematic match long before he started the “Broken” gimmick.

Cinematic Match Pitched

During a recent edition of The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy, Matt reflected on the time Michael Hayes pitched a cinematic match between The Hardy Boyz and Edge and Christian (via Fightful).

“Michael was a very out-of-the-box thinker. He was trying to think of things that would be different and original and unique and he did pitch something that was very similar to that. I wonder how that would have turned out if we’d had done it at that stage in our career.

“Because we’re very different performers. We were definitely thinking more about work rate than the actual work of telling a story and being character performers, so I don’t know.

“It would have been an interesting scenario because Vince, he takes these things so seriously, and that’s why I took a different approach to The Final Deletion.

“I didn’t want this thing to be looked at as too serious because at the end of the day, wrestling, it’s these people that are amazing athletes, they get in a ring and go have a 15 or 20-minute match, especially with all these unique spots and whatnot. But still, it’s entertainment at the end of the day, and we can’t lose track of that.”

Matt and Jeff are currently on the AEW roster along with Christian. Edge works for the WWE banner after he had been retired for years due to an injury. Hayes remains behind the scenes in WWE.

Gangrel On Why We Never Got a Brood Reunion in WWE

Wrestling legend Gangrel spoke with SEScoops Ella Jay this week to promote his return to Major League Wrestling (MLW). The Attitude Era star competed on this week’s episode of MLW Fusion, which you can catch on YouTube.

During the half-hour conversation, Gangrel spoke about a wide variety of topics. In this installment of our write-up, we’re focusing on The Brood.

The Brood was a faction in WWE during the beloved Attitude Era. Led by Gangrel, the Brood helped introduce Edge and Christian to the WWE Universe. A later incarnation, The New Brood, saw Gangrel paired with Matt and Jeff Hardy.

The Brood remains popular to this day, as evidenced by Edge busting out the Brood entrance and “Brood Baths” in some of his recent feuds. Gangrel would have been down for a surprise Rumble appearance and a Brood reunion in WWE, but gave a surprising (and disappointing) reason why it never happened.

Here’s our half-hour interview with Gangrel, with some highlights below:

“People Won’t Remember The Brood”

Last year, Christian reunited with Edge at the Royal Rumble. This year, fans were hoping that Gangrel would make an appearance at the Rumble to continue the Brood nostalgia tour.

Gangrel says he’d speak to Edge about reuniting the Brood in WWE, but Edge didn’t think Vince McMahon would be on board.

“No, I would talk to Edge, he would tell me that he didn’t believe Vince McMahon believed people will remember The Brood, let alone myself.”

– Gangrel on a Brood reunion in WWE

Over the past year, Edge has paid homage the Brood several times, including for special entrances and for unleashing “Brood Baths” on his enemies.

Edge’s Brood entrances were always a hit with WWE fans, but he really had to work hard in order to convince Vince McMahon that it was worth doing.

“[Vince is] very set on certain things, so [Edge] told me he had to work like two and a half months to get the music to be able to do a ‘Broodbath,’ not a bloodbath because the networks wouldn’t have blood,” Gangrel continued.

“He did that for two and a half months and and he said he was trying to work it all out. He said he did it pay homage to The Brood and myself and all that he was super happy about it.”

Gangrel said he actually had an AEW appearance lined up at one point that would have included an elaborate entrance, but that got derailed.

“And then when I told [Edge] ‘Yeah well…’ He was like, so excited to tell me on that Monday, and I go ‘Well… I was supposed to do AEW that Wednesday, they were gonna do the whole entrance and everything.’ But it just trended so much that it was just like forget it. So that was a bummer one way, but in another way it was just great to see Adam, Edge come out to that and then it cut and go to his music. It was just really, really cool and I was super happy for him and honored and flattered.”

Memories of Working with the Hardys, The New Brood

Gangrel spoke fondly about working with Matt and Jeff Hardy in the early years of their careers.

“Yeah, well, a lot of people ask me what was my favorite Brood, The New Brood or the old Brood. I always say older with Christian and Edge because for one, we’re the original. We were working the Hardys and we had a program with them. I always love wrestling the Hardys. I personally love wrestling Matt Hardy because he’s a thumper. He’ll get in there and he’ll mix it up. Matt Hardy is a bit harder and tougher than people think.

I remember Michael Hayes would drive those poor guys crazy. I hope that I didn’t drive Christian and Edge as crazy as Michael Hayes did with his old school banter like ‘It’s my dime and it’s my time’ and stuff like that.

They’re just great guys. I’ve known them since, I don’t know, like since they were 16-17? I think we were all floating around doing extra work and different stuff for WWF whenever they came to the South. So I’ve known them for a long time. They’re just tremendous guys. Jeff’s super laidback, Matt’s more always intense about the business stuff. I’m super super happy for them.”

Gangrel also revealed that he’s going to be wrestling against The Hardy Boyz somewhere in Virginia soon. It will be Gangrel and Joey Janela (the “The New New Brood”) against The Hardys (“The Old New Brood”).

Steve Austin’s Input on Theme Music

The Brood’s theme music is legendary (you can listen below) and really set the tone for the group’s image. Gangrel shared a cool story about “Stone Cold” Steve Austin giving him advice about the importance of entrance music.

“…One time Steve Austin asked me, ‘What do you like about you like your music?’ The music that I had with the Brood. I go, ‘I could walk to it.’
And he goes, ‘That’s the key thing, you really want to become one with your entrance music. You really want to get that groove and that vibe and be able to gel with that coming out to get a feel.’

MLW’s two next shows are scheduled for WrestleMania weekend, at Gilley’s in Dallas, TX. If you’re in town, visit MLWTix.com for ticket information.

Edge Wants To Write a Children’s Book With Beth Phoenix

Edge says he wants to write a children’s book with his wife, Beth Phoenix.

The Rated R Superstar recently appeared on the Steven’s Wrestling Journey podcast and revealed the “bucket list” project he wants to undertake.

“I love to draw,” he began. “I love illustrating and I love writing. At some point, I wanna do a children’s book and… yeah, I wanna release a children’s book and Beth wants to as well so we might… we might partner up.”

Edge says they’ve already written some material for the book, which is still in its very early stages. They’re working on

“I think we got an idea.. Yeah, it’ll definitely be a kid’s book,” said Edge. “That’s always kind of been a bucket list thing of mine too so, and I know it has been for Beth as well. So, that’s one thing I think I’d like to do that maybe a lot of people don’t know.”

Edge and Beth Phoenix have been married since 2016. The couple have two daughters together, Lyric Rose and Ruby Ever. They are the only married couple comprised of two WWE Hall of Famers (until next Friday).

Edge is scheduled to face AJ Styles next weekend at WrestleMania 38.

WWE WrestleMania 38 Updated Card: AJ Styles vs. Edge Confirmed

WWE booked the latest match for WrestleMania 38 as Edge will wrestle AJ Styles on either Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3, 2022, in Dallas, Texas at AT&T Stadium.

During the main event segment of Monday Night Raw, the WWE Hall Of Famer called out anyone to answer his WrestleMania challenge and out came Styles. Edge said that they’ve both been wanting this match and so do the fans.

He said he doesn’t want the tag team b**ch that AJ has been for the last year, but the pitbull. This led to Edge attacking Styles and a brawl broke out. Styles missed the Phenomenal Forearm and Edge hit a low blow. The WWE Hall Of Famer later connected with a Conchairto.

Styles has publicly talked about wanting this match and now his wish was granted.

Renee Paquette Heaps Praise On Edge’s Promo Ability

Renee Paquette is a big fan of Edge on the mic.

Since making his return to WWE, Edge hasn’t lost a step. He’s still performing at a high level in the ring and his promo ability remains highly regarded. Paquette, a former WWE host and commentator has certainly taken notice.

Edge Gets His Flowers From Renee

Sportskeeda interviewed Renee Paquette and was asked which wrestler she thinks took home the crown for best promos of 2021. For her money, it’s “The Rated-R Superstar.”

“I’m gonna say Edge on this one. I know it doesn’t quite lean on for this year, but I’d say Edge just has such a great way of connecting with people, but there’s such an authenticity about what he does, and again another instance of, like, Edge is wrestling again?!

“What?! You can see he loves what he does. He has such a passion for professional wrestling. To see him doing it along with his wife, with him and Beth doing it together is so cool.

“I think Edge just has a way with words, he’s such a cool guy, he’s very interesting and all of that comes through in his promos.”

Edge retired back in 2011 due to a neck injury. After years of being away from the ring apart from some appearances, “The Rated-R Superstar” made his return at the 2020 Royal Rumble.

Since that time, he’s had high-profile feuds with the likes of Randy Orton and Seth Rollins.

AJ Styles Still Pushing Hard for WrestleMania Dream Match

It’s no secret who AJ Styles wants to work against at this year’s WrestleMania in Texas. Now, the former WWE Champion once again doubled-down on wanting a match with Edge in a new interview with Ariel Helwani.

“He’s so knowledgeable, he’s such a superstar. I would love to get the opportunity to get in the ring with him,” Styles said (h/t ComicBook). “There was that time when I thought there would never be an opportunity to wrestle him, and now, it’s here. The time is limited in which we can pull it off. Whether he or I retire first, who knows, but I want to get that match. I desperately want to get that match. I think it’s the one that most fans would enjoy.”

Styles also referenced that Edge wants the match, too. Edge hasn’t been seen since he and Beth Phoenix defeated The Miz and Maryse at the Royal Rumble in St. Louis a few weeks back.

AJ Styles Doubles Down On Wanting To Face Edge At WrestleMania

AJ Styles continues to call for a showdown with Edge.

Edge has said on WWE TV that he doesn’t have much time left in his career. It was a big talking point during his feud with The Miz before Maryse and Beth Phoenix entered the fray.

If Edge is indeed winding down the clock, retiring without having that big one-on-one match with Styles would be seen as a bummer to many fans. Styles remains optimistic.

Styles vs. Edge?

AJ Styles recently told WWE’s The Bump that he thinks we’re close to seeing him share the ring with Edge one-on-one. Speaking to DAZN, “The Phenomenal One” doubled down on those comments.

“I want Edge. I feel like it’s one of the last dream matches I have left. And the fact that it wasn’t possible a couple of years ago due to him not being cleared is something I really want. The fact he came back now makes that match a definite possibility, and I’d like to have it at WrestleMania.”

For many, Styles vs. Edge is just one of those matches that feels special. Not only are the two well-respected veterans but they’re also future Hall of Famers. Their names will be etched in history and a match between the two is the cherry on top.

Styles recently qualified for the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match. He isn’t expected to win it and if that hunch comes to fruition, it could open the door to that big WrestleMania match with Edge.

Beth Phoenix Explains Her Biggest Holdup In Teaming With Edge

Beth Phoenix admits she was hesitant teaming with her husband Edge.

Edge has found himself feuding with The Miz. Edge emerged victorious over Miz at the Day 1 event but this feud isn’t over.

The Miz’s wife, Maryse, has gotten involved and may have bitten off more than she can chew. Her involvement has led to the return of Beth. It’ll be Edge and Beth vs. Miz and Maryse at this year’s Royal Rumble event.

Beth Phoenix Explains Hesitancy

Beth Phoenix appeared on WWE’s The Bump and she admitted that the thought of potentially tainting Edge’s legacy gave her pause in teaming with her husband.

“The biggest thing for me, and this is just from the bottom of my heart, I never wanted to be a detriment to the legacy of Edge and everything that my husband has done for decades working so hard, creating this character working with other characters.

“I never wanted to come in and take away from that or feel pulled into the situation or anything. So, that was my concern like, ‘Will this take away from the legacy of Edge?’

“Adam has earned that [legacy] with every ounce of his soul but I think that in this instance, in this little bubble scenario I think that it’s gonna contribute to the greater picture and greater story.

“It’s really fun and selfishly for our family, this is the only time our children will get to experience something like this. Seeing mom and dad do what we grew up loving and all we wanted to do since we were little kids.”

Back in December, Beth revealed she would be stepping away from the NXT commentary table. Her last night on NXT TV was for the WarGames event.

Bully Ray Shares How He Thinks Edge-Miz Feud Can Be More Interesting

Bully Ray has an idea on how the feud between Edge and The Miz can be more intriguing.

Edge and Miz have begun a program on WWE TV. To some, this has been disappointing as there were high hopes for the next Edge rivalry following his highly regarded Hell in a Cell match with Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel.

Bully Ray Adds Spice To Edge vs. The Miz

Bully Ray took to an episode of Busted Open Radio to throw out his suggestion on how to create more buzz around this program.

He explained why at the moment he isn’t invested and how things can change.

“Not really because I know what I’m gonna get. This is just a typical WWE storyline. I would like something different.

“I would like something other than typical — do I think I’m going to get a great match between The Miz and Edge? Absolutely. Am I gonna get great promos from The Miz and Edge? Absolutely.

“I know what I wanna see though. I wanna see them go beyond The Miz and Edge. I’d like to see The Miz have somebody standing next to him and her name would be Maryse Mizanin, and I wanna see Edge having somebody standing next to him and that woman’s name is Beth Phoenix.

“I want The Miz and Maryse vs. Edge and Beth moving forward because Edge and Miz — okay yeah, sure. Two WWE superstars, great promos, great matches been there done that but the intergender stuff with the wives, now we’re onto something.

“Especially if they have to have a dance-off cause if there’s a dance-off then you know all the sh*t hits the fan.”

The Miz and Maryse are no strangers to ruffling the feathers of fellow real-life couples. Things got physical during The Miz’s 2016 feud with Dean Ambrose, known as Jon Moxley outside of WWE.

Moxley’s wife, Renee Paquette slapped The Miz and Maryse returned the favor by slapping Renee. Miz and Maryse also had a feud with John Cena and Nikki Bella back in 2017.

WWE Day 1 Updated Card: Edge vs. The Miz Announced

Edge vs. The Miz has been officially announced for the upcoming WWE Day 1 PPV.

WWE set up this feud on last week’s episode of Raw when Edge and Miz made their returns where they exchanged words. Miz had an issue with WWE giving so much attention to Edge’s return and there wasn’t anything hyped about his own return. Miz thinks has surpassed Edge a long time ago and Edge should have stayed home for good.

On this week’s show, the war of words continued when the WWE Hall of Famer made an appearance on Miz TV. After the challenge was excepted, Edge faked him out and Miz dropped as he expected a punch to end the segment to make it seem Miz was afraid of Edge.

WWE presents the Day 1 pay-per-view event on Saturday, January 1, 2022 in Atlanta, Georgia at the State Farm Arena that will air on Peacock. WWE will be announcing more matches for this show in the coming weeks. Here is the updated card:

Maryse Returns On WWE Raw, Edge Mentions CM Punk’s Reference About The Miz

WWE had a few returns during the top of the second hour of Monday’s episode of Raw as Edge came out for a promo, which marked his first appearance since Crown Jewel where he defeated Seth Rollins in a Hell in a Cell match.

The WWE Hall of Famer talked about all of the top stars on the roster such as Damian Priest, Big E, AJ Styles, and Finn Balor as potential opponents, but pointed out how he hadn’t mentioned one name. This led to The Miz, who has been gone while being on the latest season of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, and Maryse, his wife, coming out to the ring.

Miz had an issue with WWE giving so much attention to Edge’s return even though he’s only been away for a month. He brought up how he doesn’t get the same treatment as Edge. He declared his wife is officially back in WWE and knocked Edge. He thinks he has surpassed Edge a long time ago and Edge should have stayed home for good.

Edge stated that Miz lives rent-free in people’s heads and people on other shows mention his name just to get a cheap reaction, which was a reference to CM Punk calling MJF a less famous version of The Miz on last week’s AEW Dynamite.

Miz declined the offer to fight Edge and left the ring. It appears the match will take place at the Day 1 PPV event in January.

Edge Returning On Raw, Lesnar Returning On Smackdown

WWE is bringing back Edge to RAW and Brock Lesnar to Smackdown this week. Edge’s return to RAW was announced during Friday’s Smackdown broadcast. It was also revealed on Smackdown that Brock Lesnar’s storyline suspension has been lifted and he will be on next week’s show.

Also announced for this week’s RAW is a non-title match between Big E and Kevin Owens. Also, Finn Balor will face Seth Rollins on the show. Nothing other than Brock Lesnar’s return has been announced for Smackdown thus far.

WWE and AEW Ticket Sales In the UBS Arena

RAW next week will take place in the UBS Arena in Long Island, NY. As of this writing, 5,075 tickets to the show have been distributed.

WWE has also been offering 2-for-1 deals to the event. Meanwhile, AEW’s show in the same arena on December 8th has sold 8, 573 tickets.

Next week’s Smackdown will be held in the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. While nothing has been announced other than Lesnar’s return, Sami Zayn has qualified for a Universal Championship shot. He won a battle royal on this Friday’s show. It appeared as though Jeff Hardy had won the match, but Zayn had never been officially eliminated. He returned and eliminated Hardy.

Jim Ross Explains Why He Isn’t Surprised Edge Didn’t Sign With AEW

Edge had a chance to make his way to AEW but his choice to return to WWE didn’t surprise Jim Ross.

The “Rated-R Superstar” has gerned a ton of praise since coming out of retirement. Edge has had some highly-regarded matches such as his Hell In A Cell showdown with Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel.

Jim Ross On AEW Losing Out On Edge

When Edge was mulling over a comeback, AEW had interest. Edge told WWE about his plans to return and the company made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.

During an episode of the Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross gave his take on why Edge choosing WWE over AEW didn’t come as a shock.

“No, not really. Not really, he’s got a brand established in WWE. It’s home for him, he’s comfortable there, he’s got a really good, open, established communication with Vince which is crucial.

“Hey look, would I’ve loved to have had him in AEW? Hell yeah, are you kidding? Absolutely but I just think that WWE for him after all these years was his home.

“When I signed him and Christian, that was their big goal. Their big goal as young wrestlers, young guys training, young guys in the indies throughout Ontario and beyond was to get to WWE.

“So, I understand his motivation but yeah man. It’s like that same thing about the third question a while ago, you got a chance to get em’, get em’.

“But he’s just a lifer there. Would I like to see Adam Copeland have a match in AEW someday? Of course I would, most fans would. You and I would, you would too.

“Is it gonna happen? Unlikely. Highly unlikely perhaps but that would’ve been kinda cool if he had come to work for us but I understand why he did what he did, and I think he made the right decision.”

Edge’s longtime friend, Christian, is currently on the AEW roster. On the first episode of Rampage, he won the Impact Wrestling Championship from Kenny Omega.

Edge is currently waiting in the wings to get back on WWE TV. He hasn’t been seen since Crown Jewel.

Edge can still wrestle thanks to cryotherapy, ice baths & more

Edge undergoes a rigorous self-care routine in order to remain an active in-ring competitor at 48 years old.

The Rated R Superstar and his wife Beth Phoenix appeared on Tuesday’s edition of Busted Open Radio on Sirius XM. The Hall of Fame couple spoke with hosts Dave LaGreca and Bully Ray about a wide variety of topics.

Phoenix discussed NXT 2.0, her new music career, and the heated rivalry between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.

Edge talked about the second chapter of his in-ring career. The Rated R Superstar was forced into retirement in 2011 due to a neck injury. He made a surprise return in 2020. He’s learned some important lessons along the way.

“You know, what I think I’ve learned is that the self-care and recuperation just takes longer,” said Edge. “So before, when you can do it every night, that’s not the case anymore.”

“Now, you know, after a match and I’m like, ‘Okay, I feel great. Maybe I could do one more the next day,’ but that’s pretty rare. It’s usually a good two-to-three weeks until I’m like, ‘Okay, all right. I think everything’s knocked out of my system.’”

Edge’s Wellness Routine

Edge explained that he has to undergo an extensive routine of recovery exercises to remain an active competitor. Cryotherapy, ice baths and yoga are just a few things he does to keep his body feeling good.

“The cryotherapy I did, the sauna, I did cold plunges, I stretched, I did yoga, I did massage, all of those things that I never did before. Now they’re a necessity.”

Edge Admits He Wasn’t Gung-Ho Over Saudi Arabia Trip

WWE Hall of Famer Edge says he wasn’t enthusiastic about going to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel.

Edge wrapped up his feud with Seth Rollins in a memorable Hell in a Cell match. The score was 1-1 between the two. In the end, it was Edge who got the last laugh as he scored a pinfall to end the rivalry.

Edge On Traveling To Saudi Arabia

Edge has been a supporter of Jessika Carr, a female referee in WWE. The “Rated-R Superstar” appeared on The Kids on the Escalator podcast and admitted that he wasn’t thrilled about the Saudi Arabia trip but felt he could leave a lasting impact if he had Carr take the reins in the Hell in a Cell match.

“We took a test run at SummerSlam and she is so confident and really good. She wasn’t shy or timid, she took control of the situation and I always appreciate when someone does that. We had MSG and I said, ‘I think you have to do part two, kiddo.’ When they asked me about blowing off the story in Saudi Arabia, I wasn’t too keen on going, I’ll be honest, but as we talked and they said ‘we need it there,’ I said, ‘Lets get Jess to ref there,’ not knowing if we’d be able to. I just loved the idea of a woman being in control of two men in that country. If it flew over a lot of heads, whatever, but for me, I can come back to my girls one day and tell them ‘I went over there.’ I think we did something cool.”

Carr ended up making history at Crown Jewel. She became the first female referee to work a WWE match in Saudi Arabia. As Edge mentioned, he was the one who requested that Carr take the officiating role for their match and it got a ton of backstage support.

Hell In A Cell Match Announced For Crown Jewel, Updated Card

WWE has announced that Seth Rollins will be facing Edge in a Hell In A Cell match at the upcoming Crown Jewel PPV from Saudi Arabia.

These two have been feuding since the Money In The Bank PPV. The Rated R Superstar challenged the Universal champion Roman Reigns for his title at the show.

However, Edge couldn’t win the title due to interference from Rollins. This led to a few weeks of confrontations between the two before WWE announced that they will be meeting in a match at SummerSlam.

The Attitude Era star managed to win this match against the Architect via submission. Though their rivalry continued and last week’s episode of SmackDown saw Rollins invading the home of Edge.

Edge then proposed a Hell In A Cell stipulation for their rematch during the final segment of this week’s episode of the blue brand. The match was made official after Seth accepted the challenge.

Jim Ross Explains Why Christian Wasn’t As Popular As Edge

Jim Ross has a theory on why Christian, known as Christian Cage outside of WWE, never reached the popularity that Edge did.

Many wrestling fans fondly remember the tag team of Edge & Christian during the Attitude Era. Both men weren’t afraid to tell you that they “Reek of Awesomeness.” As a team, the two had many memorable matches including the big TLC match at WrestleMania X-Seven back in 2001.

Edge and Christian ended up having success as singles competitors, but there’s no denying that Edge became more popular. Meanwhile, Christian is often regarded as one of the most underrated talents in the wrestling business.

During an edition of his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross shared his take on why Christian never caught fire the way that Edge did in WWE.

“I always thought Edge was going to be a breakout star because he connected with the audience. [Christian] was always the clear number two on that team. I was glad they both got their opportunity to grow on their own, but I always thought that Edge had a little bit of a leg up in that scenario. That does not mean by any stretch of the imagination that Christian wasn’t a great hand. The match that he had with Kenny Omega in AEW was outstanding. He still is a hell of a worker, he’s always been a hell of a worker, but he just didn’t quite have that connectable charisma that Edge had.”

JR went on to say that his comments aren’t a slight to Christian at all. In fact, he thinks it’s more of a testament to Edge’s abilities.

Regardless of stardom, it’s safe to say that both Edge and Christian are quite happy at the moment. Edge has proven that he’s still got it since returning to WWE after being forced to retire due to neck issues. As for Christian Cage, he’s the current Impact Wrestling World Champion and has been a key player on AEW television.

Edge Expected To Be Off WWE TV For Several Months

We now know what’s going on with Edge after he was last seen carried out on a stretcher.

Edge competed with Seth Rollins in a rematch during the Sept. 10 edition of WWE SmackDown. The action was held inside Madison Square Garden in New York City. The match ended when Rollins nailed Edge with The Stomp for the victory. Part of the storyline was that if Rollins could land The Stomp on the surgically repaired neck of Edge, it could end “The Rated R Superstar’s” career.

To update Edge’s status, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports the Rated R Superstar will be off WWE television for the next several months.

Edge On His Current Role in WWE

Edge doesn’t work a full-time schedule. Despite working a limited number of dates per year, he told CBS Sports earlier this year that his comeback wasn’t going to end up being a “greatest hits tour.”

“That’s not why I came back. I didn’t just want to do regurgitated greatest hits. I wanted to come back because I wanted to tell compelling stories. I wanted to get in with a lot of talent so that … if I could impart wisdom from 29 years of doing this, in terms of trying to tell a story, that’s really exciting for me. I love so much of this talent, and it’s exciting to be able to get in with them.”

Edge competed in the main event of WrestleMania back in April. At this late stage in his career, he puts his best effort forward and likes to think it pays off.

Many agree that Edge has gone above and beyond when compared to some of WWE’s other part-time talent. His matches with Rollins at SummerSlam and on the recent SmackDown show have been praised. Time will tell when the former multiple-time world champion will return.

Edge Admits He Needed to be Talked into Money in the Bank Match

Everybody who follows professional wrestling knows the story of Edge. He was one of the driving forces of the attitude era and took part in many legendary moments. Moments and matches that influenced or even changed the course of WWE.

He took part in the first-ever TLC match. In fact, he was involved in the first three TLC matches in WWE history. Edge was also one of the participants in the first-ever Money in the Bank ladder match back in 2005.

Talking recently, however, during an episode of The Bump, Edge talked about how he originally refused to take part.

“I wish I could say that I had this vision of how it would become its own PPV, and no, not at all. As a matter of fact, when they first told me that I’d be in this thing called the Money in the Bank match, I said, ‘Another ladder match? I don’t want to be the ladder match guy, I want to do more than that. I want a straight wrestling match. Where I can just get in there and go. ’ I actually said, ‘Don’t put me in it. I’ll find my way on WrestleMania another way and if I’m not on this year I’ll make sure I’m on next year, but I’m tired of ladder matches. I don’t want to get pigeonholed for that.’ That was not very bright thinking.” Edge explained

Edge was Influential in Establishing Money in the Bank

Edge was the first-ever Mr Money in the Bank. Moreover, he was directly involved in the first five Money in the Bank cash-ins. It was only after his historic win that he realized Money in the Bank was different. It was something special.

“So finally, and this sounds so stupid, but I had to be talked into participating in the match. It wasn’t until about eight months in, holding this briefcase, carrying it with me on every plane because I had to take that thing everywhere. That’s when I started to realize. When I came out at New Year’s Revolution and I heard the crowd, that’s when I went, ‘Oh man, this is something, this is something very cool.’”

“Then to be involved in the next five year’s worth of cash-ins or — Either it was I cashed-in or it was cashed-in on me. Or I was in the match where it was cashed-in. It’s so amazing to sit back and think I was a huge part of Money in the Bank, which is now a PPV, and TLC, which is now a PPV. That’s really cool.” Edge reflected on his role in Money in the Bank.

There can be no denying the impact Edge’s career has had on wrestling. Now, after returning to the ring he is looking to continue building his legacy. Heading into Summerslam, he is locked in a feud with another former MITB winner in Seth Rollins. Two of the biggest and brightest wrestlers of their respective generations.
