Edge makes fun of Great Balls of Fire PPV name and logo

On the latest episode of E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness, Edge and Christian broke down tonight’s Great Balls of Fire PPV. During the discussion, Edge decided to give his thoughts on the Great Balls of Fire PPV name and it’s interesting looking logo. Here is what Edge said about Great Balls of Fire:

“Before we go any further for how stoked I am for Joe vs. Brock, I gotta mention again this pay-per-view name is just brutal. I mean, come on. It’s a great song, I’m a fan of Jerry Lee Lewis, I appreciate everything he did, dancing on pianos, setting them on fire, he was a trendsetter, he was a groundbreaker; that song was from the 50s, I don’t know if it needs to be the name of a pay-per-view. I picture just flaming testicles now when I hear that. And then when you see the logo for it it just looks like flaming testicles.”

Mr. Kennedy Reveals WWE’s Original Plans For Him After Winning Money In The Bank

Former WWE United States Champion Mr. Kennedy (a.k.a. Mr. Anderson) had a promising career with the company, as he won the Money In The Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania 23 and looked to cash the briefcase in the next year at WrestleMania 24. Per Kennedy, he was set to cash-in on The Undertaker and take the World Heavyweight Championship off “The Deadman,” however, an unfortunate injury put a halt to those plans and Kennedy was forced to drop the briefcase to Edge.

“The Rated-R Superstar” would then cash-in and take the World Title, before going on to headline WrestleMania 24 against Taker for the strap:

“We decided that I was going to cash it in next year at WrestleMania,” said Anderson. “I announced that I think the next night on RAW. Or maybe it was SmackDown that, ‘Hey I’m already setting a date, I’m going to cash in at WrestleMania next year.'”

“Taker got injured and he had the world title at the time. They were trying to figure out a way to get it off him,” Anderson recalled. “You know, they called me in the office and said, ‘Hey I know we were going to have you cash it in at WrestleMania next year but we need to get the title off of Taker so we’re going to have you come out next week at SmackDown and you’re going challenge him after he has the cage match with Mark Henry and blah, blah, blah, you’re going to win the title.'”

“Three or four days later I was in a wrestling match with Batista and a bunch of other guys, like an eight-man tag, and Batista — it wasn’t Batista’s fault or anything — he gave me a clothesline and I felt something pop in my tricep,” Anderson recalled. “And I ended up, my arm swelled up so bad I couldn’t even bend my elbow.”

“I ended up going to see a doctor, take an MRI in Erie, Pennsylvania, the next day Stephanie called me and said, ‘Ken you tore your triceps off the bone, you’re going to have to have surgery and you’re going to be out for seven to eight months. But unfortunately we still have to get that title off of Taker so we’re going to fly to Penn State, Edge is going to challenge you for the briefcase and he’s going to go on to do what you were going to do.'”

Christian Talks About The Time He Asked Stone Cold to Watch His Match

Former WWE Tag Team Champions Edge and Christian took to their podcast, E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness, and touched on the importance of young talent asking veteran workers for advice as much as possible. Both men noted how they received advice from the likes of The Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin, however, it was Christian’s story about advice he received from Austin that stole the show.

“Captain Charisma” spoke about his respect for Austin and how “The Texas Rattlesnake” used to stay late at shows and watch every match on the card. One night Christian asked Austin to watch his match and give him some pointers on how he could improve, and the critique the WWE Hall Of Famer provided Christian with was priceless:

“I remember asking him specifically “Hey, can you watch my match tonight? I’m trying to get better as a singles performer.” And Steve doesn’t pull punches, he’s a straight shooter. I came back from the match… and Steve is a friend of mine. I thought he’d be like “Hey, this is a buddy”, the crowd was reacting, match was good, got reactions.

“I’ll never forget it… I walked back and said “What did you think?” He looked me straight in the eyes and said “Why don’t you learn how to f**king sell?” Then he walked away. I was like “Whoa. Hold on a second here. What?” I went back and watched a bunch of my matches and realized “He’s right. I don’t sell enough”

Edge on Why he Thinks WWE Rushed Brock Lesnar vs. Samoa Joe

The WWE Universe is getting quite the ‘dream match’ at the upcoming Great Balls Of Fire pay-per-view (PPV). After defeating Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, and Finn Balor in a Fatal Five Way Match in the main event of Extreme Rules earlier this month, former Impact Wrestling star Samoa Joe will challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship.

WWE Hall Of Famer and former WWE Champion Edge recently took to he and former tag team partner Christian’s podcast, E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness, to comment on the Lesnar vs. Joe match-up, and explains why he believes the company may have rushed the pairing:

“You want my take? Here’s my take. I’m assuming that they wanna go Reigns and Brock at WrestleMania — I personally would have gone Brock and Joe at WrestleMania because it’s different. It is fresh, it is believable. You have this 300 pound Samoan you know, beast and then The Beast Incarnate. So I don’t know — I think that to me it would have been a fun match to get at WrestleMania and I think people would have been excited to see that too.”

“But this is what bothers me about it. It just seems like everything is hot-shotted and not thought out far enough. Because if it were and you knew you were gonna go Brock/Joe — you don’t have him lose to Seth Rollins at the pay-per-view the month before. You have him win and just keep winning. Joe keeps barreling through people. And he can cheat, he can use heat, you know there’s nothing wrong with that — but have him keep winning. Have him build to Brock. Now — oh my god — which tells me they didn’t think far enough ahead. I don’t know, I’m just guessing but that’s what it seems like to me. Or you know what happened? You know, [Joe] dropped the match to Seth. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Build him up as a juggernaut to meet this other juggernaut and now [makes sound of a rocket falling] boo-ya, here we go.”

Edge Talks About His History With The Singh Brothers

Former WWE Tag Team Champions Edge and Christian took to their podcast, E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness, to talk about WWE Champion Jinder Mahal’s current title run and push into the main event picture. Edge and Christian talk about why they enjoy seeing a fresh face with the title, and “The Rated R Superstar” talks about his past relationship with The Singh Brothers.

You can check out the highlights here:

Christian on Mahal winning the WWE Title being a nice surprise:

“I think it’s good. I think it’s a good surprise. I mean, I like it when there’s… it’s hard to shock people, especially when people want to know, like, spoilers and stuff like that. People seem to want to know stuff that’s going to happen before it happens sometimes instead of just enjoying it and following the ride and just seeing where it takes you. So it just was legitimately one of those ones where you didn’t know which way they were going to go on it and I like it. I think it’s different and I think it’s one of those ones too, even speaking from personal experience, that you sometimes you’ve just got to throw that person in that spot and see if they can sink or swim, if they have it in them to step up and be believable in that spot.”

Edge on fans always complaining about what’s different and new:

“Put the person in the situation and see how they do. Jinder’s a good dude. He’s a nice guy and the only way to prove and get to that next level is to be given a shot. Now, people always complain they want something different, they want something new, and when it happens, they complain about what is different and new. Now, these are broad paint strokes, but it generally seems to be the case where Kevin Owens becomes champion and they complain about how he’s used as champion. But you were complaining he wasn’t champion. Now he’s champion, you want to complain about how he’s used as champion? I get it. You’re passionate about the product. I’m passionate about it too, but I like to let things play out, having been in the industry. From being inside the industry, I understand you need patience to see things play out. And that’s what I would advise all of the folks who might be worked up about this. Let’s see how it plays out. I think he’s going to do good. I think he’s going to step up. And guess what. If he doesn’t, it’s not going to happen for long.”

Edge on why fans should give Mahal’s title reign a chance:

“I know the knee-jerk reaction from a lot of wrestling fans is, ‘huh? Why?’ Settle down. Relax. I’m going to be Uncle Edge here and try and talk you off the ledge. Here’s how I’m looking at this. You can say it’s a business decision because WWE is breaking ground in India. Well, okay. Then, it’s a good business decision. If you want a billion people to latch onto the product, then maybe put the 6’5″, 240 lbs. Indian dude as your world heavyweight champion. Just saying.”

Christian on liking Mahal’s pairing with The Bollywood Boyz (The Singh Brothers):

“The thing is too, they’ve surrounded him. They put an entourage with him, which is great. It gives him a little bit more of a presence, a little bit more of an aura. So yeah, I mean, give the guy a chance. And he’s either going to make it or he’s not and it’s on him.”

Edge on his past encounters with The Singh Brothers:

“And a shout out to the entourage, The Singh Brothers. We’ll have them on the show at some point, but really, really good guys. I go back with them a little bit, back when they were out in [British Columbia, Canada] and I was out there filming some stuff. They got in touch with me through Paul Lazenby, who is a complete moron.” Edge continued, “they got ahold of Paul and they found out I was in town, so they just wanted to pick my brain, so we went and hiked this mountain called The [Stawamus] Chief and they just picked my brain the entire time. I was like, ‘okay, I like these guys.’ They went out of their way to try to find out if they could just get into contact with me and get some ideas. So from that point, I’ve stayed in contact with them and just tried to give them advice along the way.”

“They’re great guys, good head on their shoulders, and it’s great to see them being put in that mix. And again, sink or swim. Yeah, so it [has] been nice to see and it’s different and it’s fun and I always liked that.”

Edge & Christian Talk Kane’s Failed Personas, Undertaker Making His Gimmick Work, More

Former WWE Tag Team Champions Edge and Christian recently took to their podcast, E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness, to talk about some of the best and worst gimmicks in WWE history. Some superstars brought up included The Undertaker, Kane, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and more. Here are the highlights:

Edge on Kane’s string of failed personas:

“There’s a guy, okay, Isaac Yankem, then, new Diesel, and just, he’s too good to deny. And then, thankfully, finally, they realized, ‘okay, let’s do something with him.'” Edge said, “how thankful do you think he [has] got to be after trying to make all of those gimmicks work and then [to hear], ‘okay, you’re going to be The Undertaker’s brother, Kane’?”

Christian on Kane being too good to be held back by failed gimmicks:

“He probably did everything he could to make those other [gimmicks] work, right? So it’s one of those ones where you get out what you put in. And he might not necessarily like those ones, but he always did the best with what he had. And plus, he just looked so unique. He had the size. He was good, still is good, that eventually something was going to work out for him.”

Edge on Undertaker becoming the new Andre The Gian with his gimmick:

“On paper, does The Undertaker [gimmick] sound like something that will go on to be undefeated at WrestleMania for like 22 years, and be the tentpole holding up the company at certain times, and kind of the measuring stick within the [pro] wrestling industry, more or less, the new Andre The Giant?” Edge added, “it sounds like the shelf life isn’t going to be that long.”

Christian on nobody else being able to pull off the Undertaker gimmick:

“The thing is too, I honestly believe if it was on anybody but The Undertaker, it wouldn’t’ve worked. It would’ve had that shelf life, but because he personified it and he embraced it and he became The Undertaker. You just had to look at him. He had everything down, the movements, he had the entrance, and when he did his entrance, people still when they hear that gong, they stand up. It has become this revered character. He’s also one of the most revered guys in the locker room. But I don’t think it would have had much lasting power if it had been anybody but him doing it. I don’t think anybody could do the character the way that he has done it.”

Edge on Taker switching over to “The American Badass” gimmick to refresh “The Deadman” persona:

“I mean, probably. I think one of the keys to longevity in [pro] wrestling, especially if you are going to remain the same character is the fact that you have to change it sometimes. Otherwise, it gets stagnant. It can still be a lighter shade or a darker shade, but The Undertaker went through many different phases like that. It was the Ministry [Of Darkness] Undertaker for a little while, which got even darker. And then, I think it just came a point where he had to switch it up.

“I also think that the reason it switched up is that he actually wanted to wrestle more because, as The Undertaker in the first kind of incarnation of it, the character kind of pigeonholed how much he could actually wrestle and he’s a guy who can really work. So while he was working the gimmick initially, you couldn’t go out and have the type of matches he could actually have, so I think ‘The American Bad Ass’ was a way to segue into being able to get in there with Kurt Angle and have amazing matches, technical matches too.” Edge professed, “you had to have that segue to have The Undertaker that we have now.”

Christian on “The Ringmaster” gimmick not fitting Steve Austin’s look:

“I not really sure if it was a gimmick or really just a name, but the name didn’t fit the look. Do you know what I mean? He had the bald head, huge legs, well-built. He was full-steam ahead when he was in the ring. Yeah, [Austin wore green trunks as ‘The Ringmaster’ because he was with ‘The Million Dollar Man’, right? But, like I said, I don’t think the name fit the character [or] what he looked like. Do you know what I mean? And I think, to his credit, that he was not only good enough, but had the guts, I guess, to take the reins and change it into ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and make it the way he wanted it to be and like [Edge] said, become the biggest draw in the history of the company.”

Lita Talks In-Depth About Her Love Triangle With Edge & Matt Hardy

WWE Hall of Famer Lita (Amy Dumas) was the latest guest on Lilian Garcia’s Making Their Way To The Ring show on AfterBuzz TV. In an intimate discussion about her legendary career, Amy discusses how her injury in 2005 impacted the relationship she had with Matt Hardy, her thoughts towards the public split being turned into a storyline and what she did to move forward afterward.

Here are some highlights of what Lita said about:

Realizing her relationship with Matt Hardy was coming to an end in 2005: “We were slightly disconnected while I was at home recuperating because he was still 100% into his career and I was 100% out of it at the moment, because I had to be. And I remember thinking ‘Yeah we’re not gonna be together after our careers are over because that, that is our bond. The way we view life, our interests, they don’t really align you know?”

When she and Edge began bonding: “I know both of us were kind of like, ‘Oh sh*t’ you know once we started to-to realize we were more than just two bros just hanging out. And so the hard thing that has always been with this time period is, you know, we realized we were going down a path that we shouldn’t and what I mean by that is mentally, mentally.”

“We’d kissed finally and freaked out.”

She adds, “Adam was on the road and I said ‘Hey, you know what? Let’s take this as an opportunity. We need to be in our own worlds and evaluate and don’t do anything because you know, like don’t do anything for me, I’m not gonna do anything for you. I need to figure out what is right for my world. You need to figure out what’s right for your world. If we meet up on the other side, cool. If not, I support and respect whatever your decisions are. He’s like ‘Okay that seems like the mature adult thing to do’.”

The love triangle being turned into a storyline: “It became such a hot story and they said ‘They want to turn this into a story, but you guys have been professional, he hasn’t, there is money involved in this storyline, but it’s your call’.

“You know we felt terrible he lost his job over it so we’re like ’Yeah, we made our bed we’ll lie in it.’

What she learned from the whole ordeal: “I think just acceptance of me with all my flaws and acceptance of everyone else and all their flaws as well.”

WWE: ‘5 People That Could Replace Mick Foley As Raw General Manager’

The WWE recently posted an article and listed 5 people that could replace Mick Foley as Raw GM. Foley was fired from the position on this past week’s episode of Monday Night Raw. Here are the names included on the list.

Eric Bischoff

Bischoff has already played the role of Raw GM before. It didn’t end well for him, as he was fired and thrown into the back of a garbage truck. Eric Bischoff will be inducting Diamond Dallas Page into the WWE Hall of Fame during Wrestlemania weekend. Bischoff returning to weekly television as the Raw GM is pretty unlikely.

 Stone Cold Steve Austin

Stone Cold and Vince McMahon have quite the history. While it would be entertaining to see Austin, Stephanie McMahon Triple H have a power struggle on Raw every week, it most likely will not happen. Austin has a very successful podcast and hosts a reality show. Austin has been Co-General Manager with Eric Bischoff and even played the role of CEO for a brief period of time.

Jim Cornette

There is absolutely no chance in hell that this would ever happen. It is borderline miraculous that Jim Cornette is even a part of Wrestlemania weekend this year. Cornette also hosts a very successful podcast, in which he often mercilessly bashes the WWE product and the performers involved in the company. I think this would easily be the most entertaining Raw GM but this would never happen. Jim Cornette will inducting the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express into the WWE Hall of Fame. Cornette has often bashed the WWE Hall of Fame in the past and claimed that the WWE Hall of Fame is just another marketing creation by Vince McMahon. It will no doubt be must-see television when Cornette inducts the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express during Wrestlemania 33 weekend.

Edge

This one is intriguing. Edge would be an interesting Raw GM and would certainly challenge Triple H and Stephanie McMahon on their shenanigans. I can’t imagine that Edge would want to return to the weekly travel grind that is professional wrestling to play a fictional general manager. However, if he was to be the next Raw GM I think it would be a solid choice. Edge & Christian also have a podcast that launched today. Their first guest was WWE Universal Champion Goldberg and you can check that out by clicking here.

Kurt Angle

Out of all the names on this list, this one seems the most likely. Angle has made it known that he wants to wrestle again in the WWE and is being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame during Wrestlemania weekend. Behind the scenes, Angle and the WWE have had a rocky relationship over the years. The WWE might be hesitant to have Angle return to the ring right away and would want to make sure he is 100% healthy if they chose to do so. Angle as the Raw GM makes perfect sense because it introduces Angle back to the WWE Universe and allows the WWE to build a storyline that hopefully will lead to the in-ring send-off that Angle deserves.

What Edge Misses About Wrestling, Mickie James NXT Debut Hype, Filming Backstage

– WWE Hall of Famer Edge sat down with ESPN this week to discuss his life since leaving the squared-circle. Edge refuses to give a yes or no on whether he’d ever return to WWE in a non-wrestling capacity, but did mention missing various aspects of the business including the comradery shared with other members of the locker room. He doesn’t seem too heartbroken however, as he adapts to life as a normal person:

“I had a long career that started when I was 17. I wrestled for 20 years, so people forget how long I actually wrestled for. It leaves some good time to accomplish other goals, which I feel like I’m on my way to doing. And then I’ll reset my goals.”

Edge Talks Future Of WWE Network Show, New WWE Studios Movie, Life With Kids

Adam “Edge” Copeland recently spoke with CraveOnline to discuss WWE Studios’ Interrogation, which is out today and co-stars Lana. Edge commented on what fans need to know about the movie:

“In terms of an action movie, it’s more than that. There are explosions and gunplay and car chases and all of that but there are layers. If you enjoy movies and want to see more of your character, this movie has that. It’s a different character than what I have played before, which is nice and it has nothing to do with “Edge.” But it was a good time and if they enjoy it as much as we had fun filming it, that’s all you can ask for.”

The WWE Hall of Famer also revealed that a second season of The Edge & Christian Show on the WWE Network will happen, depending on timing. He said:

“Yeah, it’s really just a matter of timing, honestly. Now that I’m filming Vikings it’s going to be a lot more difficult to squeeze it in and the only thing that Jay [Christian] and I want to do with a second season is have it all written beforehand because a lot of this was writing as we went because of the time constraints. Initially, we were told we would have a pilot episode and one week to film it to flesh out what the show was and get on board with the other producers. Then we got up there and they needed three episodes in three days [laughs].”

Besides keeping busy with acting gigs these days, Edge is enjoying family life with former WWE star Beth Phoenix after recently welcoming their second child together. Edge discussed parenting:

“It’s amazing. It’s tiring at times. It’s frustrating at times but it’s so much fun. I got to fly to Dublin to work but I’ll fly back and walk in the house and just to see the joy on their faces is just ‘oh my gosh.’ It’s so much fun to see all of these new words spring out of Lyric’s mouth cause she’s a little over two and a half now.

The other day we were playing with Lego blocks and she said ‘This Lego is an enchilada of psychiatry.’ I just stopped and said ‘What?’ Where did you get psychiatry? Just putting those words together was awesome. We have daddy/daughter day and it’s a lot of fun. Now Ruby, our youngest, she’s 10 weeks old and starting to smile and she’s really aware and watching things now and seeing how great Lyric is with her, that’s really fun to see.”

Edge & Christian Talk About Roman Reigns’ Wellness Policy Violation

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tz0fQseDuM

Edge & Christian spoke with Nick Hausman of 120 Sports over the weekend to promote their upcoming live stage show at Caroline’s On Broadway during SummerSlam weekend. You can listen to the full segment above, here’s what the guys said about Roman Reigns’ Wellness Policy violation:

Christian: “You don’t like to see stuff like that happen to anybody. Especially when they work hard. I don’t know what the circumstances are. I don’t want to comment on it in that respect. It’s a tough thing. You don’t want to see anybody in that situation. Like I said, it’s kind of a tough thing to put your finger on and you hope that it doesn’t affect him going forward. You hope that he can continue where he left off.”

Edge: “He’ll learn from it. Like Jay said, we don’t know all of the circumstances surrounding it and probably never will. All you can do is throw guesses at it so, why bother? To me it’s like, “He’s a good kid. He’ll learn from it. He’ll own up to it and probably won’t make the same mistake again.” I think that’s how you have to kind of deal with it. You see a guy like John Cena and there’s a reason he’s the face of the company. I think that’s the kind of model that the WWE is going to put out as their franchise player. That’s what you have to look to for guidelines to kind of aspire to.”

WWE Legend Edge Talks If Finn Balor Is Ready For The Main Roster

Not many people have an extremely high-wrestling IQ in the industry, but Edge is one of them. As a WWE Hall of Fame wrestler, his thoughts on wrestling are well-respected in the business.

In a recent interview with WrestleZone.com, the former-WWE champion talked about Finn Balor and that he’s no longer NXT champion.

Edge: Yeah. Pretty much everybody in NXT is ready to be on the main roster. When is the right time? I don’t know. You see AJ go straight from New Japan to the main roster. Finn could have done the same thing. Joe could have done the same thing. Sami could have done the same thing. NXT is great but you need those guys there in a developmental system like that to be able to lead and show the way forward for some of the younger guys that don’t have that New Japan experience. That don’t have some of that international cred under their belts already. It’s really important to have Finn, Samoa Joe and Sami there to say, “Well, this is where we need to get to make it to the top tier.” To then springboard past that to the main roster. But, yes, he’s totally ready and some of the match ups you can think of already have fans like, “Ooooooooh aaaaaahhhhhhhh.”

Is Edge right when he says that everyone in NXT is ready for the main roster? That’s a huge claim and many will disagree. Apollo Crews is one example that may or may not be ready for the spotlight of Monday Night Raw.

Sami Zayn and Balor are two that have the qualities of a main event superstar. Samoa Joe, Hideo Itami and Enzo and Big Cass are others who contain the ability to perform with the likes of John Cena and Randy Orton.

So far, Kevin Owens and Zayn are paving the way for the new generation of WWE NXT superstars who want to succeed. Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks are leading the women into a new era of professional wrestling.

More WWE NXT stars will come up in the coming months, but when Edge says that every NXT star is ready for the main roster, he is making a big statement.

WWE Hall Of Fame Apparently Adding Legacy Award This Saturday?

It’s a bit strange that this wasn’t officially announced yet, but it’s hard to argue with the evidence: Dave Meltzer is reporting at F4WOnline.com that it looks like WWE may have found a way to quickly get some major historical figures into their hall of fame at this Saturday night’s induction ceremony. A WWE Hall of Fame class of 2016 shirt being sold at the WrestleMania store at AT&T Stadium includes not just the announced inductees, but also a “WWE Legacy Award” with Ed “Strangler” Lewis, Frank Gotch, George Hackenschmidt, Lou Thesz, Mildred Burke, Pat O’Connor, and “Sailor” Art Thomas all listed under that heading.

As of this writing, WWE has not said anything else about the new Legacy Award. The obvious inference, though, is that the company is addressing the long-held criticism that they won’t ever put in a number of deserving inductees due to the unofficial “quota” on deceased inductees for each year’s ceremony. This would be a simple way to solve that problem: Induct several missing historical figures each year as a group. If there’s something else to it, who knows? But it’s hard to think of any alternative scenario besides the one outlined here.

While the pre-television era wrestlers included here (Lewis, Gotch, and Hackenschmidt; Thesz and Burke straddled both eras) were never really considered realistic candidates to be inducted. Thesz not being in had been controversial for many years. It goes a bit deeper than that, though: When he and Wahoo McDaniel passed away within two weeks of each other in April 2002, neither death was acknowledged on WWE programming. The uproar online was significant enough that WWE eventually ran a quick feature honoring both. Given the alleged “death quota,” nobody ever really expected him to go in the Hall of Fame, especially after when happened in the first place when he passed away.

Thesz was in the first class of the WCW Hall of Fame, but in the 15 years since WWE bought WCW and the 12 years since the WWE Hall of Fame was restarted, WWE never adopted WCW’s hall as their own. That would have been a quick way to add Thesz and McDaniel, among others.

One would think that the Legacy Award will be officially announced on this week’s edition of SmackDown. We should know that any moment now, as the show has already aired in Canada. If it’s not announced on SmackDown, this may just be a small gesture that WWE is making without a lot of fanfare.

Videos & Recap Of Edge On ESPN SportsCenter

“Legends of WrestleMania Month” on ESPN SportsCenter continued on Tuesday night with WWE Hall of Famer Edge. For the “Off The Top Rope” segment, Jonathan Coachman looked back at Edge’s top WrestleMania moments – Top Main Event was against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 24, Top Spot was spearing Mick Foley through the flaming table at WrestleMania 22, Top Match was the TLC Match from WrestleMania 16 with The Dudley Boyz and The Hardy Boyz.

Edge then joined the show and spoke about being in the crowd for Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania 6 and knowing he wanted to be in that ring one day.

Regarding the infamous TLC match at WrestleMania 2000, Edge says they all knew they had to do something different to get noticed in WWE at that time because there were so many other top stars.

Regarding the flaming table spot with Foley, Edge says he was in the mind-frame where he wanted to be in the main event and if he wasn’t, he was going to make sure everyone came out of the event thinking he should have been in the main event.

Coach brought up The Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 32 and asks about Edge vs. Taker in 2009. Edge says when he got the call to do the match he thought “finally” because that’s where he had been trying to get to, especially against an icon like The Undertaker. Edge says he knew he had done something right. Edge says he made his entrance and had never been that amped before.

They spoke about Edge’s tag team with Christian and Edge said there is no Edge without Christian. It was a tough transition for them establishing themselves as singles stars. They’ve having fun with their new Edge & Christian show and are not afraid to embarass themselves.

Coach also asked about the final weeks leading up to his final WrestleMania and retirement. Edge called the last week a “whirlwind” but knew that his career was winding down. He was at the point where he just wanted to work with younger talents.

Edge spoke more about his favorite WrestleMania moments to end the segment.

Christian Says He’s Not Officially Retired, How The E&C Show Came Together

WWE legends Edge & Christian recently appeared on Chris Jericho’s Talk is Jericho podcast, which you can listen to over at PodcastOne.com. The topic of Daniel Bryan’s retirement came up, which eventually segued into talk about Edge and Christian’s careers ending due to injuries.

Christian clarified that he is not officially retired and never had a conversation with WWE about his career being over. However, Christian did say he’s come to terms with the fact that it’s unlikely he will be wrestling again.

Of course they also discussed the “The Edge and Christian Show That Totally Reeks of Awesomeness” on the WWE Network. They revealed that it was their appearance on the Stone Cold Podcast that led to Kevin Dunn approaching them and seeing if they’d want their own show. They were interested, but didn’t want to be just another “talking head magazine show.” They envisioned their own show being a hybrid of Key & Peele, Tosh.0 and Saturday Night Live.

They knew they were off to the races when Vince McMahon was willing to make a cameo on the premiere episode. “Vince told us it was our show, and everything was up to us.”
