El Hijo Del Vikingo has updated fans on his condition after a scary knee injury at Sunday’s post-Bound for Glory TNA Impact tapings. In his Instagram stories, he wrote:
“Thanks to my brother, Laredo Kid, for accompanying me and keeping an eye on me! I chose this sport, I am happy for the good and the bad. I will recover and come back stronger than ever. Thanks to everyone who sent me a message!”
Vikingo was stretchered out of the October 27th TNA iMPACT! tapings when he suffered a knee injury in his match against Trent Seven.
Vikingo made his return to TNA at Bound For Glory after being sidelined for seven months due to a knee injury. He challenged “Speedball” Mike Bailey for the X-Division Championship. The high-flying flip-fest saw Bailey retain his championship by executing a float-over superplex off the top rope for the victory.
At Bound for Glory, ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey retained the TNA X-Division Championship against El Hijo del Vikingo in an excellent match. During the tapings, Vikingo looked to bounce back when he took on Trent Seven. Fans in attendance took to social media to share that Vikingo suffered an injury and the match was halted when the referee signaled for medical aid. Tommy Dreamer and several others rushed to help out and Vikingo was stretchered away.
Later on in the tapings, ABC (Ace Austin and Chris Bey) took on Matt and Jeff Hardy with the TNA World Tag Team Championships on the line. During the match, Bey went down hard following what appeared to be a mistimed spot. Medical personnel rushed into the ring to attend to Bey who was carefully placed in a neck collar.
Damn, man…
Looks like another injury at the TNA tapings, Chris Bey from ABC.
Dont know where it happened but towards the end of a tag match with The Hardys, Chris was lying motionless on the ground.
These unfortunate injuries only highlight the risks that a professional wrestler takes every time they step foot between those ropes. We’re wishing both Vikingo and Bey speedy recoveries, and hope to provide more details as they become publicly available.
El Hijo del Vikingo has set his sights on the AAA Mega Championship after making his return to the promotion’s programming this week. On the latest episode of AAA Lucha Libre, Alberto El Patron and Konnan were in a backstage segment interrupted by the returning Vikingo.

Later on, El Patron was asked about Vikingo’s return and made clear he was in no mood to discuss the former champion.
“You are in my locker room and come here to talk about Hijo del Vikingo, who looks like a member of Kumbia Kings? He comes in sandals, he probably doesn’t even know Spanish because I do not understand the dialect coming out of his mouth. I do not need to give an explanation to anyone, much less you.”

El Hijo del Vikingo held the AAA Mega Championship from December 2021 to March of this year and his 833-day reign is the longest in the title’s history. Vikingo’s reign came to an end due to an injury which he underwent surgery for in February.
El Hijo del Vikingo had been making serious waves, both in and out of AAA before his injury. Stay tuned to SE Scoops for the latest on El Hijo del Vikingo and his quest to regain the AAA Mega Championship.
Former AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo is gearing up for his comeback to the ring after being on the shelf due to injury.
Taking to his Instagram account, El Hijo del Vikingo posted his photo which was taken during the latest edition of AEW Dynamite. One fan commented on the post and asked the wrestler whether he is back from injury. The 27-year-old wrestler replied that he hadn’t returned but it’s almost time for his comeback.
Back in February, Vikingo competed at the López Mateos Arena but the match had to be called off after he sustained an injury to his right knee. The luchador provided an update on his injury on his social media and had revealed that he suffered a torn meniscus and a ruptured ligament. These injuries required surgery and he even updated his fans ahead of his surgery.
In December 2021, he won a five-way match at Triplemanía Regia II to capture the vacant title. Vikingo’s 800+ days reign had been the longest in the title’s history and he even eclipsed Kenny Omega’s feat. However, he vacated the title which is currently held by Nic Nemeth.
The injury in question happened during a match in the López Mateos Arena. Vikingo was assessed at the venue and it was believed he had damaged a ligament in his right knee. His match was called off and he was tended to backstage.
AAA Mega Title Vacated
The AAA Mega Championship has been vacated due to the Vikingo’s injury. The promotion announced that a new champion will be crowned at Triplemania XXXII Monterrey on April 27. Alberto El Patron won a triple threat match against Cibernético and Psycho Clown to qualify for the upcoming AAA Mega Championship match.

Vikingo won the title back at TripleMania Regia II in December of 2021. His 828-day reign is the longest in the title’s history. He also boasts the record for the most title defenses, with his 23 defenses being more than double of El Texano Jr. who holds the #2 spot with 11 defenses.
We have an update on El Hijo del Vikingo after he underwent surgery.
The 26-year-old talented athlete had an outstanding 2023 competing in promotions other than AAA, including All Elite Wrestling, Ring of Honor, TNA, Game Changer Wrestling, and many more. He is currently in his first reign as AAA Mega Champion.

However, he has recently faced some injury woes. Last month, Mas Lucha reported that Vikingo’s match at the López Mateos Arena had to be called off as he sustained an injury to his right knee. Vikingo was assessed at the arena and there was a talk that he might have damaged a ligament. Mas Lucha also shared photos of Vikingo being tended to at the event.

At over 800 days, Vikingo’s reign is the longest in the history of the title. He has the second most amount of collective days as champion, only behind El Texano Jr.’s 1,096 days across two reigns. Vikingo also holds the record for the most title defenses at 23.
New meets the old when the TNA brand returns in 2024, starting with the Hard To Kill PPV as a new championship match is announced that opened up the “forbidden door.”
Back at Slammiversary, IMPACT Wrestling revealed that the promotion would be going back to its roots, by rebranding itself as TNA once more and the motion to do so feels fitting as two of the company’s legacy stars both currently hold championships. Funny enough, they so happen to one of their greatest tag teams too.
Alex Shelley currently is the IMPACT World Champion while his Motor City Machine Guns brother Chris Sabin is the current X-Division Champion. Now the latter has a new match on tap for Hard To Kill.
IMPACT took to social media to announce that Sabin will be defending his goal against another Shelley tag team partner in KUSHIDA, but also in the match is El Hijo Del Vikingo.
It was just this week that KUSHIDA was announced to be officially signed with the company after making several appearances with the promotion. Vikingo has been keeping busy in several wrestling companies. This weekend he’s on tap to defend his AAA Mega Championship against another once notable name in IMPACT, Black Taurus, but it’s not with AAA Lucha Libre. The match will take place at ROH Final Battle.
The Sabin fight is only the third match currently announced on the card as Shelley will have his hands full defending his World Title against former champion, Moose. In addition to that, Trinity is set to defend her Knockout’s Championship against another former champion in Jordynne Grace.
Independent wrestling promotion Dreamwave Wrestling held their Good As Gold event on December 9, featuring four title matches. One of the matches had El Hijo Del Vikingo put the Dreamwave Alternative Championship on the line in a 4 Man Scramble Match.
After a few months of no defense, Vikingo was motivated to retain his championship for the final Dreamwave card of the year. His last successful defense was in a Four Way Match against Alex Shelley, Flamita, and Gringo Loco at Dreamwave Those Summer Nights on August 5. On the card, Vikingo found himself facing three opponents again with Jack Cartwheel, Stephen Wolf, and Gringo Loco for the title.
In what could be the best match of the night, Vikingo was able to successfully defend his title. The finish came when the champion landed a 630 Senton to pin Wolf.
Dreamwave Wrestling Good As Gold Brittnie Brooks vs. Zamaya
Another exciting match on the card had Dreamwave Women’s Champion Brittnie Brooks defending her title against Zamaya. Brooks was coming off a tough matchup against Masha Slamovich at Dreamwave Uprising on December 8. After retaining her title, Brooks was attacked by Zayda Steel and Maggie Lee. As the “heels” stood over the champion with her title, Zamaya also appeared to pose with the Dreamwave Women’s Championship.
Looking to make a statement, Brooks had a decisive win over Zamaya. After the match, Lee came out to confront the champion, which could set up a match at the next Dreamwave event.
Sreamwave Good As Gold occurred at Knights Of Columbus Hall in LaSalle, Illinois. It went live on Independent Wrestling TV. To watch the event, you must pay $10 for a subscription.
