Enes Kanter Plans To Accept WWE Offer When He Retires From The NBA

Professional basketball star Enes Kanter says he plans to accept an offer to wrestle for WWE when he retires from the NBA.

Kanter spoke with Shams Charania of Stadium on Wednesday and revealed he plans to become a WWE Superstar one day. The 6’11” is a huge pro wrestling fan, a certified Paul Heyman Guy and is a former WWE 24/7 Champion.

At 27 years old, Kanter is planning to play in the NBA for 6 or 7 more years before transitioning to the squared circle.

    Enes Kanter: Future Pro Wrestler

Kanter has already taken steps to achieve his dream of becoming a pro wrestler. He has trained in the ring on several occasions. Last summer, The Score released footage of Kanter training in the ring with Diamond Dallas Page.

In December, TMZ cameras caught up with the Boston Celtics center. At that time, he said he’s spoken with WWE CEO Vince McMahon and Triple H about joining WWE one day.

The big man is a former WWE 24/7 Champion. He captured (and lost) the gold back in September 2019 at Madison Square Garden.

NBA Boston Celtics player Enes Kanter is focused on making the transition from basketball to the world of pro wrestling.

He doubled down on his desire to become a pro wrestler when he was recently interviewed by TMZ sports where he noted that he’s looking to wrestle in WWE once his days as a pro basketball player are over.

He was quoted by stating, “Full-time, I’m ready, I’m actually already talking to some people.”

Enes Kanter Expresses More Interest In WWE After NBA Career, Talks 24/7 Title Win

Kanter brought up how he has a friendship with Paul Heyman and that he’s spoken with Triple H as well as WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon. He added that he plans to play 6 or 7 more years in the NBA then will go to WWE.

WWE had Kanter do a segment with R-Truth, who was the WWE 24/7 Champion at the time, back on September 9th in New York City, NY at Madison Square Garden.

Kanter briefly won the title when he beat R-Truth before airing a live episode of RAW. R-Truth would later reclaim the title.

NBA Boston Celtics player Enes Kanter continues to speak out about his desire to potentially make the transition from basketball to the world of pro wrestling.

He recently spoke with the Boston Magazine about a wide range of topics including his WWE 24/7 title win.

Before airing a live episode of RAW back on September 9th in New York City, NY at Madison Square Garden, WWE had Kanter do a segment with R-Truth, who was the champion at the time.

“It was just so fun. They asked me if I wanted to be a villain or a hero, and I’m like, “A villain!” They said, “You’re going to be the most hated man in New York that night.” I was like, “I’m ready for this, let’s do it.” It is more fun to play the villain. You get all the boos, you get in people’s faces and talk trash to them. I’m even thinking of becoming a WWE wrestler after basketball.”

The reign didn’t last long as when Kanter was celebrating, R-Truth rolled him up to win back the title.

Kanter was also asked about what name he would use, which he noted that he hasn’t figured that out yet. He stated that people have told him that he can’t be a villain and call himself Turkish Delight. He does think Enes the Menace is a good one.

“I know a lot of great people from WWE, and I am sure they help with that once you get there. But I have to finish my basketball career first.”

With this recent sample, one would think this possibility could become reality in the future. Time will tell.

NBA star Enes Kanter has shown interest in pro wrestling in the past. Thus, when the opportunity came about to win the WWE 24/7 Championship, he took the company up on their offer.

WWE taped this week’s episode of Main Event in New York City, NY at Madison Square Garden before RAW went live on Monday night. The company did a segment where Kanter and R-Truth appeared together in the ring.

The segment ended with Enes dropping Truth to the ground and ended up pinning him to win the title. The reign didn’t last long as when Kanter was celebrating, R-Truth rolled him up to win back the title.

    WWE RAW Results (9/9)

Back in July, it was revealed that he had agreed to a two-year, $10 million deal with the Boston Celtics. Thus, with the show being so close to home, Kanter made a surprise appearance.

It’s interesting that WWE filmed this segment on Main Event, which many people consider being a C-show for the company behind Monday Night RAW and SmackDown Live.

With Kanter winning the title, one would have to think they would get more exposure to do it on RAW.

Kanter is a long time wrestling fan and said as far back as 2010 that he wants to wrestle after he’s done playing basketball.

“After my basketball career, I want to be a wrestler, professional wrestler,” Kanter said in a radio interview.

Kanter said The Undertaker is his favorite wrestler.

“I started watching like four or five years ago, and right now I feel like [The Undertaker] on the court. His nickname is unbelievable that’s why I love it, “The Deadman,” I love it.”

He even has a little play on words with his last name.

“People started calling me the Underkanter. Right now my nickname is Underkanter.”

Now in 2018, the 26-year-old would still consider a WWE career after retiring from basketball. He said so while answering a question on Twitter in May.

Kanter isn’t shy about his love for professional wrestling as he posed for photos with Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman, The New Day and John Cena at WWE’s last event at Madison Square Garden back in March.

    – A new episode of WWE 24 airs this Monday after Raw on the WWE Network and it gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble Match. Here is the synopsis:

“Female Superstars are redefining sports entertainment with groundbreaking matches and the addition of Ronda Rousey to a star-studded roster.”

WWE has released a teaser clip of Dana Brooke honoring her late bodybuilder boyfriend, Dallas McCarver, who died suddenly on August 22, 2017.

Last March, Brooke and McCarver both competed in the 2017 Arnold Classic. To honor McCarver, she incorporated a small piece of McCarver’s posing trunks from the event by having it stitched onto her ring gear for the Women’s Royal Rumble Match. She had WWE seamstress Terry Anderson make the piece look like a dumbbell and have it placed over her heart.

On her tribute, she tweeted the following:

According to Medium.com, an autopsy determined that McCarver died after an unwitnessed cardiac event contributed to by of combination of coronary atherosclerosis (a buildup of plaque in the arteries) and an enlarged left ventricle (a thickening of the heart muscle that causes it to work harder). McCarver had a family history of cardiovascular disease including both hypertension and atherosclerosis.

    – New York Knicks player Enes Kanter attended Friday’s WWE live event at Madison Square Garden in New York City and posed for photos with WWE stars backstage, including Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman, The New Day, and John Cena.

Michael Conlan, an Irish professional boxer from Belfast, was also backstage (as seen here in this photo with Finn Balor).

  • Paul Heyman On Lesnar’s UFC Future, Rousey-WWE, Next “Heyman Guy”

Paul Heyman On Lesnar’s UFC Future, Rousey-WWE, Next “Heyman Guy”

TMZ Sports caught up with Paul Heyman this week, who commented on the possibility of Brock Lesnar returning to UFC, if he would advocate for Ronda Rousey in WWE and who he’s eyeing as the next Paul Heyman Guy (or gal).

This Sunday at Elimination Chamber, 7 of RAW’s top Superstars will battle to determine who will challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania. In the months following WM34, it’s rumored that Brock Lesnar’s WWE contract will expire and he’ll be free to fight for the UFC again, if that’s something he’s interested in.

When asked if we’ll see Brock step inside the Octagon again, Paul Heyman said Brock Lesnar will do whatever he wants to do. Lensar’s last UFC fight took place back in July 2016. TMZ’s reporter questioned if two years away from fighting would work against The Beast. Heyman argues the contrary.

“The time away makes him better because the time away gives his body a chance to heal,” Heyman proclaimed. “The problem with these UFC fighters – and they’re all fantastic athletes, top of the line in the entire world – is that they wear their bodies down in these training camps. All these guys that are cutting weight are destroying their own bodies.”

Many fans have speculated that Paul Heyman would make a great mouthpiece for Ronda Rousey. It’s an intriguing prospect, but Heyman doesn’t sound like he’s eyeing Rousey as his next client. “Why limit the people that I have my eye on to Ronda Rousey?” Heyman questioned. “I have my eye on anyone who is a top box office attraction. I have my eye on Enes Kanter of the New York Knicks.”

Heyman definitely sees potential in Enes Kanter, who he’s dubbed “The Baddest Dude In The NBA.” The 6-foot-11 Knicks center couldn’t be happier to be dubbed the latest Paul Heyman Guy.
