Eve Torres Talks About Life After WWE, If She’ll Ever Return & More

Photos of Eve Torres & Her Husband Rener Gracie

WWE.com recently caught up with former WWE Diva Eve Torres. Here are some highlights of what she said about:

Life After WWE: “Well, aside from building a house and planning a wedding and all of that real-life stuff that I’ve finally gotten around to, I’ve been teaching a lot of women’s self-defense classes at the Gracie Academy. Since January, I’ve pretty much been teaching Gracie Women Empowered self-defense full-time, working with women from all walks of life. We’ve got grandmas in there, we’ve got mothers with their daughters, and we’ve had several contracts with the U.S. Air Force.”

“Also, this summer I actually filmed my first movie. I did a really fun fight scene in [“Scorpion King: The Lost Throne”], which will be coming out next year. I was so excited to be a part of it. Ellen Hollman is the actress I worked with, and she is just incredible. We got to incorporate some wrestling stuff, too. I pulled out some of my old tricks in there. It was a lot of fun to shoot.”

Teaching Self Defense To The Total Divas Cast: “WWE actually reached out to me. I went to the WWE Performance Center [in Orlando] and worked with the NXT Divas down there. That’s how it started. WWE wanted me to work with the NXT Divas, talk to them about my experiences in WWE and also teach them a seminar. Then they said, while I’m there, because Raw and SmackDown were so close, that I could teach the girls on the main roster as well.”

“This is something I had always wanted to do even when I was with WWE, but we’re all so busy and schedules are so crazy that I’m glad I finally had an opportunity to do it. I know all of those girls have been in situations similar to what happened to me because it happens so often. They’re traveling a lot, they’re all beautiful women and they have to face so many situations that the average man doesn’t really even have to think about. So it’s not only about educating them about how to be aware and present themselves, and how to not be a target in the first place; it’s also about instilling them with confidence based in these techniques, so they really feel like they can address the situation if they have to. And they have a plan to fall back on if they really have to.”

Her Current Relationship With WWE: “When I left WWE, it was, of course, one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. But I really feel like WWE is a part of me. I do want to be involved whenever I can. Of course I can’t go back on the road, I’m not going to be having matches or anything like that, but any way I can represent WWE, any capacity in which I can contribute and still live the life I have chosen now, I’m excited to do that.”

If She’ll Ever Return To WWE: “I knew that question was coming [laughs]. The truth is, I get asked that question all the time, and I really can say that, right now, I don’t see it happening. But I know myself enough to know that I’m not going to sit here and say that it’s never going to happen. I just don’t know what the next few years will bring. Like I said, if things go as planned in my life, and I start a family or anything like that, then probably not. But who knows? There are people who have families and still come back. Right now I don’t see it coming, but I still have dreams about matches, I will tell you that.”

CM Puk & Eve Together At Gracie Camp (Pic), WWE Returning to Abu Dhabi

[punkhoodie]- WWE sent out a press release announcing three live events in Abu Dhabi later this year. The shows will be held on October 10-13 at the Zayed Sports City Tennis Stadium. Gerrit Meier, the Executive Vice President of International deivision, was quoted:

“We are thrilled to bring WWE’s electrifying live events experience back to Abu Dhabi. Our passionate fan base, paired with the support and commitment from our business partners in the region, have helped to grow and establish WWE as a leading entertainment brand in the Middle East.”

Update On WWE’s Recent Diva Search & Month-Long Divas Training Camp

    divas-in-training

We’ve got an update on the private Diva search that took place last month. WWE reached out to modeling agencies in Los Angeles and other cities last month and select a group of women to enter a four-week training program. They were trained by NXT’s Sarah Del Rey, Bill DeMott and others.

Here’s a look at some of the women who where part of the training camp:

    • Olivia Karpinski – Model, fitness coach
    • Natalie Eva Marie – Actress, model
    • Aimee Fogelman – Model
    • Joseann Offerman – Model, Singer
    • Maysa Quy – “Bombshell Fitness” Athlete
    • Jenn Sterger – Model, actress, TV host
    • CJ Perry – Red Bull spokesmodel
    • Courtney Camero – Reality TV show contenstant

It’s worth noting that not all of the ladies made it through, and only a few (if any) will go on to receive developmental contracts. Former WWE Diva Eve was at NXT earlier this week meeting with the ladies and tweeted:

Eve Torres Visits NXT & Lance Storm Blogs About Training NXT Students

    – NXT trainer Bill DeMott noted on Twitter that former WWE Diva Eve Torres was at NXT working with the developmental Divas earlier this week.

    – ECW original Lance Storm has published a new blog at StormWrestling.com talking about his recent visit to WWE developmental:

“Many people have asked how the guest training gig came about and there really isn’t that much too it. I keep in touch with many people within WWE, and maintain a good relationship with the company. I was once the head trainer for their developmental program when it was based in OVW, I have a few SWA grads in their developmental program, so it just seemed like a natural fit, so when the opportunity came I jumped at it. It was a chance for me to pass on a bit of my knowledge to the newest batch of developmental talent as well as keep abreast of how WWE is doing things and what they are looking for in future talent. It is a win win situation if there ever was one.”

The training itself kept me extremely busy; NXT is a big operation with a lot of bodies, so I was doing 8am to 5pm training days. Talent doesn’t train that many hours a day but with rotating classes trainers log a lot of hours. NXT has several trainers but unfortunately not all of them were there for my week. I missed out on catching up with Norman Smiley, Sara Del Rey, and Terry Taylor, but did spend a lot of time with Bill DeMott, Joey Mercury, and Ricky Steamboat. Bill and I have been friends since our WCW days (2000) and the relationship we formed during our time together there will no doubt last forever. Joey and I go back to my time teaching in OVW (2004), where he was but a pupil and seeing him now as the teacher and continuing to pass on the art of our business to the next generation was very rewarding. I didn’t really know Mr. Steamboat that well at the start of the week, having only met him on 2 brief occasions, but working alongside him was certainly a highlight of the trip. I thought we complimented each other well, with his experience and knowledge and my in ring hands on approach, talent no doubt picked up a lot, I know I did. If you spend a week with a HOF’er like Ricky Steamboat and don’t learn something you’re really not paying attention.

Eve Torres Interview: Favorite Title Reign, Inspiration For Her Character, Divas Search Competition

Raj Giri of WrestlingINC.com recently spoke with WWE Divas Champion Eve Torres, who discussed her wrestling career, being the head instructor for the Gracie Women Empowered Self-Defense Program and more. Here are some highlights:

Her favorite title reign: I’d probably have to say that it was this current title reign right now, for sure. I think every time you win the title, it means more. You think that the first time that it means the most, but it really doesn’t. I think the first time that you win the title — you just don’t know how to make the most out of your title reign until you’ve had one and then you’ve lost it. Once you lose something, you know how much more it means to you.

So, third times a charm for me. Obviously, I’ve taken a bit of a turn in terms of my character and I’ve had a lot of fun with that with this title reign.

Inspirations for her character: I’m having a lot of fun with it. I draw from personal experiences, I think I’ve known real terrible people in my life. [Laughs.] I hate to say it, but everyone has experiences with people that you just can’t stand or have certain characteristics that just irk you, and it really serves for good ammunition with these kind of characters.

You have to create your own character and you can base it off of either people you know or previous characters that have done similar things. But, it also has to feel real to you. It has to feel like something that is believable in your own mind in terms of the character you would play. So, I’ve really had a fun time finding out
who she is with the help of obviously Vince, Hunter and some of the other divas as well.

If the Divas Search would work today: Absolutely. I think the Diva Search was a great way to find women who might have been intimidated to get into the WWE world on their own. It’s kind of a way to say ‘Oh, let’s just try it out,’ without too much commitment in the beginning and just feeling it out and seeing if WWE likes them.

As somebody that has the look or the marketability or whatever that they’re looking for, that sparkle that they’re trying to find in the divas.

Eve also revealed that another Divas search may be underway, discussed her engagement to Rener Gracie and named here past and present dream opponents.

Eve Torres Gives Women Her Self Defense Tips, AJ Pulled From TLC Battle Royal

    – The official website of Cosmopolitan Magazine has a feature looking at WWE Divas Champion Eve Torres’ self defense tips for women. Eve, who is trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and teaches self defense classes, told Cosmo:

“You don’t have to be a tomboy to defend yourself. You can be feminine and wear heels, dresses, and makeup, and still be a powerful woman—physically, mentally, emotionally. My WWE Divas championship belt is pink and sparkly, but it doesn’t mean I’m a princess. It means girls can kick butt!”

    – AJ Lee has been removed from the “Santa’s Little Helpers” Divas Battle Royal that will take place on the online pre-show of Sunday’s WWE TLC pay-per-view. “Among the Divas gunning for Eve’s butterfly-emblazoned title are former champions Alicia Fox, Layla and Natalya, as well as Kaitlyn, Tamina Snuka, Rosa Mendes, Aksana, Cameron and Naomi.”

Top WWE Diva Banged Up, News On The Shield’s In-Ring Debut, TLC

    – Prior to CM Punk’s knee surgery and the news that he was being pulled from working TLC, there were already plans for The Shield to debut at the pay-per-view. WWE’s new trio of attackers is now being thrust into the spotlight in a main event match. While there will be pressure on them to seriously deliver, the feeling is that they are ready for opportunity and could make a big impact for themselves.

    – There is still talk that a Tables Match will be added to TLC.

    – WWE Divas Champion Eve Torres is banged up and will probably be taking time off soon. She worked this past weekend’s live events, but her triple-threat matches were changed to tag team matches and she didn’t do much in the way of bumping.
