WWE diva Eve Torres will be competing on the new NBC reality TV show, “Stars Earn Stripes,” where celebrities go through military training to raise money for charities. The show premieres Monday night at 8pm ET and goes head-to-head with the first hour of WWE RAW. Here are some highlights of a recent interview Eve did with the USO website about her experience:
Getting ready for the show: “I can honestly say I didn’t have any idea what I was getting myself into. I thought it sounded great, the premise of the show, but I had no idea the wringer that they were going to put us through. … There were some moments that everyone had when they wondered if they could really do this.”
“I did a lot of conditioning and training before the show, but what I wasn’t prepared for was the emotional aspect of the show. Every time we’re in real BDUs (Battle Dress Uniforms) and in KIT (Knowledge Information Technology), it was amazing. The realities of what the military has to go through really sunk in. Clearly we don’t have an opposing force, but it really felt real and made me feel so much respect for them, more than I even had before.”
Working with WWE for the Troops: “With the WWE, we go overseas pretty much every year — at least for the past eight or nine years — to bring a part of America over to [the troops]. And so the idea of the USO and being able to send entertainers to support our troops, I love the idea of it because I’ve been a part of it. [The USO is] an amazing organization and one that I’m proud to represent. It makes a good feeling that when you get through your mission, you know you’ve earned money for not just the military men and women but for their families.”
– Former WWE superstar JBL has updated his blog, which you can read at TheBermudian.com. In this entry, JBL talks about the ongoing training for his Seven Summits mountain climbing adventure. After his most recent climb was cut short due to bad weather, JBL says he’s working on getting into the best physical shape as he possibly can:
“I can’t control the weather, I can only control me being ready to climb. I weighed 245 pounds this morning and my goal is to get below 220 pounds for Aconcagua to help which would put me the lowest I have been since being a teenager.”
“As an example I regularly wrestled at over 300 pounds during my career at WWE with my peak around 330 pounds. My end goal for Mt Everest in spring of 2014 is to get down to around 200 pounds.”
– NBC has released the following behind-the-scenes video hyping the upcoming reality show, “Stars Earn Stripes,” where celebrities go through military training to raise money for charities. The show debuts on Monday night, 8/13.

Both wrestlers then announced on Twitter:
In celebration of our recent engagement, @WWEDanielBryan and I cordially invite you to our wedding ceremony next week LIVE during #Raw1000.
WWE Diva Eve Torres has been named Woman of the Month by “Made Woman.” An article at MadeWomanMag.com looks at the Colorado native’s road to WWE as well as her outside projects, namely, philanthropy (through WWE, Make a Wish, Tribute to the Troops) and teaching Mixed Martial Arts to women.
A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt, Eve teaches self defense classes at the Gracie Academy, where a smaller, weaker person could defeat a larger attacker. “There are subliminal insecurities that come with being weaker.”
In addition to the women’s Jiu-Jitsu classes that she teaches, she was also asked by the Gracie family to appear in the “Women Empowered” series of training videos on self-defense. Eve says that getting to teach young girls self-defense is one of the biggest accomplishments in her career.

“When [Josh] was thrown through the set, he did land and twisted his neck, and he’s experiencing some neck stiffness, tightness. [We want] to make sure there’s no other serious damage other than just a neck sprain, which is a good sign.”

The main event garnered a 2.67 cable rating (2.55 for the first half of the bout), which was the lowest-rated main event on Raw in 2011 and possibly the lowest since Dec. 8, 1997 for a non-holiday show in its regular time slot. The overrun gained 59,000 viewers, which is considered terrible.

This Sunday at WWE Vengeance, Eve Torres will challenge Beth Phoenix for the Divas championship.
Beth Phoenix ranted about Eve Torres on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon:
“@EveMarieTorres the message you sent on Monday was as muddled as your makeup. But I understand. U have a hard time fitting in…you tried so hard to be Kelly’s BFF but was she offering her spot in the Maxim 100 to you? Some friend.”
“So now you are trying to fit in with @NatbyNature and I, the “wrestlers” by thinking u are in our league?? Sorry @EveMarieTorres. You cant lace our boots.. at #vengeance I’m show the world why YOU are the outcast. You don’t fit in. And let you cry about it. #crybabycry”
“The other Divas respect @NatbyNature and I. The Rookies worship the ground we walk on and @thebellatwins are always admiring our power and style. Its hard to be humble when everyone around you places you on a pedestal. Its okay to admire. We lead by example. #pinupstrong”
Eve Torres defended herself against Phoenix’ verbal attack, explaining that she might not have trained in the Hart family “dungeon,” but she’s a fighter and deserves to be respected:
“Dear “wrestlers”. (@NatbyNature & @theBethPhoenix) I may not have come from the Dungeon or experienced the independents, but I did make the decision 4 years ago when I won the DS that I was going 2 do whatever it took 2 b a champion – be it gym, training, matches, jiu-jitsu. We all start somewhere. The question is where do we end up?”
“Look where u ended up @TheBethPhoenix @NatbyNature? Bitter, negative… blaming others 4 ur disappointments & with a false sense of arrogance. I may not be a great “wrestler” But I am a fighter. On the mat & off.”
Beth Phoenix responded:
“@EveMarieTorres seems to be a little sensitive today…did I strike a nerve? See the thing is I rarely speak out on people that I don’t like in our lockerroom cuz I dont think its a classy move. But in this case, Ive been around long enough to speak my mind…”
“@EveMarieTorres u dont have that fire. I dont respect u because u r content to sit back and ride the wave. I dont care how hard u train today because u are still just another wannabe Diva Search Barbie. Im not bitter. Im honest. And u will break. Cuz I will make you.”
“Now arent u late for a pedicure with @RealKellyKelly ?? Stop wasting my time baby girl. U dont wanna chip a nail with all these tweets.”
The Bella Twins then chimed in, putting Beth Phoenix in her place and saying the Divas of Doom are trying to be like the Bella Twins:
“Ummm we don’t admire anything about you @TheBethPhoenix or your wanna be twin @NatbyNature actually we laugh every time we see you both….”
“Everyone has notice that ever since we chased @Kharma out of here you 2 have tried to be us GOODLUCK! We were born this way Amazing&Athletic”
Kelly Kelly also responded to the rant, calling it annoying and pathetic:
“@TheBethPhoenix wow that was the most annoying and pathetic rant i have ever read…everyone can talk on twitter…grow some boo boo!”
Eve responded:
“It’s funny you talk about fitting in @TheBethPhoenix . Everyday I think what can I do to NOT fit in. To be different. I’m not Maxim’s top 100 & I’m not a 3rd generation Diva. I’m just me. You can try to play with my emotions all day long, but I won’t break. “
“@TheBethPhoenix Although I love nothing more than proving people wrong, I will not sit here & justify my hard work 2 u. I’d rather prove self-rightousness, & pretentiousness, & it will sting all that much more when I beat u at #Vengeance. @thebethphoenix”
“Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to the gym to “chip a nail”. #Vengeance”

– Fast Five, which features The Rock in a lead role, is currently the top selling DVD in the United States.
SHIMMER Champion Madison Eagles has earned the number one position in Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s fourth annual “PWI Female 50” list, which ranks the top 50 women’s wrestlers in North America from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. She succeeds Michelle McCool, who ranked No. 1 in last year’s list.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated attributes their decision to ranking Eagles as the top women’s wrestler in North America with the following: “This year’s list was unlike any other in the four-year history of the “Female 50.” For one thing, there was no obvious frontrunner in either WWE or TNA. Last year’s number one, Michelle McCool, retired after a few lackluster months. The WWE Divas title dropped in prominence and was held for a significant amount of time by Brie Bella who, while improved, doesn’t exactly conjure thoughts of Sensational Sherri or Trish Stratus.”
Mickie James and Madison Rayne were also considered for the top spot, but for a variety of reasons, were ultimately deemed not worthy.
“So we made a bold decision. We looked to the indies. Two possible candidates were SHIMMER champion Madison Eagles and WSU champion Mercedes Martinez. It was a difficult choice to make,” the magazine explains. “Fortunately for us, Martinez and Eagles faced off in March for Eagles’ SHIMMER title. Eagles managed to win a terrific match, which proved to be the deciding factor in our decision.”
PWI also explains how the “Female 50” was determined: “To determine this list, we evaluated each woman’s innate wrestling ability, accomplishments during the past year, physical strength and conditioning, quality of opposition, charisma, and title success.”
Some women’s wrestlers contracted to WWE and TNA, such as Nikki Bella, Rosa Mendes, Tamina and Brooke Tessmacher, were left off the “Female 50” because PWI felt they did not earn a spot over some of the independent talent listed. The magazine explains, “While being on WWE’s or TNA’s global platform helps your chances, it doesn’t mean you get a free passage onto the “Female 50.”
