Ric Flair Explains Hopes for Third WWE Hall of Fame Induction

16-time World Champion Ric Flair is hoping to add a third Hall of Fame ring to his collection as part of his role with Evolution.

In 2008, Flair took his rightful place in the Hall of Fame the night before his retirement match at WrestleMania 24 against Shawn Michaels.

With this induction, Flair became the first active WWE Superstar to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

In 2012, Flair made history again as the first-ever two-time inductee, receiving the nod for the second time for his role with the Four Horsemen.

While Flair would have his son Reid buried with one of his Hall of Fame rings upon the latter’s passing in 2013, Triple H would gift Ric a replica ring with Reid’s name engraved inside.

Third Induction

Since Flair’s induction in 2012, other legends have become two-time WWE Hall of Famers, including Booker T, Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart, Shawn Michaels, and Sean ‘X-Pac’ Waltman.

In 2020, Flair’s Evolution ally Batista was announced for that year’s Hall of Fame, but later opted to postpone his induction.

The reasoning at the time was that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Batista’s legendary career would not have received the proper response.

Speaking on his To Be The Man podcast, Flair said he is excited for the day that Batista will be inducted, and said that Evolution should be inducted not long after the Animal.

While not confirmed, some believe that this year will see Batista be inducted as the headlining act, which went to The Undertaker at last year’s ceremony.

Evolution

Coming together in 2003, Evolution represented the past (Flair,) present (Triple H,) and the future (Randy Orton and Batista,) of WWE’s World Championship picture.

By December of that year, all members of the group held gold, meaning every male championship on Raw was in Evolution’s clutches.

After capturing the World Heavyweight Championship in 2004, Orton was kicked out by a jealous Triple H, and it would be in February 2005 that Batista chose to leave and feud with the Game over the title.

Lacey Evans Believes A Second WWE Evolution Pay-Per-View Is Necessary

On October 28, 2018 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York, the only all-women’s WWE pay-per-view titled Evolution took place.

The show featured women from the Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and NXT UK women’s divisions. The show also saw WWE superstars and legends like The Bella Twins, Lita, Trish Stratus, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Mickie James, Alicia Fox, Natalya, Sasha Banks, Bayley, and many others.

Since Evolution, fans have called for a second installment of the special live event.

This Saturday, at Money in the Bank 2022, Lacey Evans will be in the women’s Money in the Bank match competing for the MITB briefcase. Inside the briefcase is a contract that guarantees the winner a title match at any time and place of their choice.

Evolution 2 Is Necessary

Before her match on the pay-per-view, Lacey Evans caught up with SEScoops correspondent Steve Fall for NBC Sports Boston to speak about her own personal interest in a second installment of the Evolution pay-per-view.

“I think it’s always necessary. Why, why not? What would be the hurt of it? I don’t think there’d be any hurt of it. I think that all the moms out there now, that are especially like wrestling, I mean you’ve got Ronda Rousey. You’ve got Becky Lynch. You got The Bellas, you got Lacey Evans. You got Bianca Belair, you got Tamina.

Lacey Evans on potential Evolution 2 PPV

“You’ve got all these badass women that are now-

“How about let’s do another one and have all our babies ringside watching their mommas? And then behind that, have all the girls in the world that want to be a sports entertainer behind the babies. And then behind them, you know what I’m saying?

“Like you have all the moms that dream of not becoming pro wrestlers, but just having freaking careers and having to juggle what we juggle. The fact that we get to show the world what mommies are capable of, that we can still chase our dreams and these careers and be badass wives and moms and work hard is cool. So, I’m down for any time we can highlight the strengths of a woman, let’s do it. Especially with having two girls myself,” Evans said.

As of right now, there is no official announcement that there will be an Evolution 2 pay-per-view but many women’s wrestling fans are hoping that there will be soon.

Money In The Bank

This Saturday, Lacey will face off against Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Asuka, Shotzi, and Becky Lynch to try and capture the Money in the Bank briefcase.

While Lacey is competing in the women’s ladder match, on the men’s side Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Omos, Sami Zayn, Riddle, and Madcap Moss will be vying for the briefcase as well.

Arn Anderson Reveals The ‘Evolution’ Name Was His Idea

Arn Anderson has revealed that he was behind the name Evolution. The stable comprised of Triple H, Ric Flair, Randy Orton, and Dave Batista. He opened up about creating the name for the group during an ‘Ask Arn Anying’ episode of his podcast, ARN.

“I named them. Vince had us all in there when he listened to us. This was back in a time prior to Randy or Batista or (John) Cena getting their push,” Anderson explained. “He had this new group of talent he brought in from the schools and said, ‘Guys, who are going to be our stars of tomorrow? Who do you guys think so far that has it?’ It was Cena, Randy and Dave.”

Anderson noted how a creative decision was made to have Orton and Batista become a part of the group. Cena, meanwhile, would be kept solo and focus on a singles run.

“[…] Cena was going to be split off by himself. I think the company saw an opportunity to take Dave and Randy who needed to have more seasoned talent guiding them which could be Hunter and Ric,” Anderson said. “They saw an opportunity because those guys looked like a trillion dollars together when they came through the curtain, all four of them. They were dressed to the nines.”

Arn Anderson believed Evolution was made up of a good combination of old and new talent. Their alliance allowed WWE to “get a couple of new guys over really quick.”

Ultimately, Arn Anderson believed that the Evolution concept, coupled with how the men worked with each other, accomplished what it was meant to.

Natalya: WWE Evolution 2 Is “Right Around The Corner”

Natalya has shared her belief that it’s only a matter of time before WWE puts on another Evolution pay-per-view.

Speaking with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, Natalya said: “I think there are some incredible opportunities coming up for the girls and I absolutely, 100% know for a fact that there will be an Evolution 2 – right around the corner.”

Reflecting on her recent, history-making match against Lacey Evans in Saudi Arabia, Natalya pointed to Fit Finlay for his help in producing the match. Finlay produced their contest alongside Natalya’s husband, Tyson Kidd.

“He’s truly the unsung hero of the women’s division,” she said of Finlay. “He’s been one of the main men behind so much change for the girls. He fought for us when it wasn’t cool to fight for the girls of the women’s division.”

When asked what it has been like getting to work with her husband, Natalya stated that “He absolutely loves working with the girls. I’m biased because he’s my husband, but he’s an incredible producer.”

Natalya defeated Evans during their match at WWE Crown Jewel last week. Their bout made history, becoming the first-ever women’s wrestling match to take place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Stephanie McMahons Provides Coy Answer Regarding Another Evolution Event

Last year saw WWE host their first ever all women’s pay-per-view (PPV) event, Evolution. The show was filled with current and former WWE Superstars, including Hall Of Famers, Trish Stratus and Lita. The event would be headlined by the RAW Women’s Championship matchup between Ronda Rousey and Nikki Bella.

Trending At Number One

In a recent interview with The National, WWE Chief Brand Officer, Stephanie McMahon, spoke about the future of the Evolution PPV, and whether it would return.

Her response was coy, avoiding a straight confirmation or denial. Stephanie has been in Saudi Arabia for the start of the 2019 Special Olympics World Games.

“We haven’t announced any plans yet for Evolution but we have a lot of things in the works right now,” she said. “One thing that is important to note with Evolution that it was our first ever all-women’s streaming special pay per view is that it trended No 1 worldwide for two and a half hours during the last game of the World Series and during NFL Sunday Night Football. Both huge audiences in the United States but it was WWE Evolution that was trending No 1.”

At the time of writing, there has been no second Evolution announcement or date set. WWE has turned a number of recent events into annual outings, such as the Mixed Match Challenge and the Mae Young Classic, so it’s surprising that they have yet to confirm (or deny) another Evolution.

Lana Thought We Were Getting The Women’s Tag Titles At Evolution

While we don’t know when WWE is actually going to introduce the Women’s Tag Team Championships, they keep the discussion for it alive by having various superstars talk about it. This time it was Lana’s turn to do so.

The SmackDown Star was recently interviewed by Markeia McCarty where she talked about a number of things related to women’s revolution as seen below:

https://youtu.be/9AfJnVUOGWA

Discussing the recent Evolution PPV, Lana claimed that it was incredible and many of the female locker room members couldn’t have even imagined having an all women’s PPV.

She then said that she is very thankful for the experience to be a part of it and brought up the topic everybody has been discussing for the past several months.

The female star said that she was hoping that they will announce the Women’s tag titles on the same night and she felt like it was going to happen when they called everyone on the stage at the end of the show.

While this didn’t turn out to be the case and the angle was just a way to culminate the event, continuing on the topic, Lana said that it’s still exciting to be able to work towards these things. She hoped that one of these days they are going to get the tag titles.

Was Evolution the best opportunity to announce the Women’s Tag Titles which WWE missed? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Roman Reigns Backstage At Raw, Superstars React To Evolution

Roman Reigns Backstage At Raw

Roman Reigns was backstage at this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw from Charlotte, NC, after relinquishing the Universal Championship on last week’s episode of the show, according to WrestlingInc.

Though it appears that there were no plans of including him into the show as the site reports that the former Champion had left the arena almost an hour before the episode went on air.

No word yet on if Reigns was just visiting or if he was there to shoot some material but both are possible and we’ll keep you posted if any more details related to his visit comes to light.

Superstars React To Evolution

Despite not having much hype, Sunday’s Evolution PPV was highly praised by the fans online and some even called it the best WWE PPV of 2018.

On this week’s episode of Raw, Charly Caruso interviewed stars from the Brand backstage and asked their opinion on the company’s first ever all women PPV.

After the show, WWE posted the video of it from their official YouTube account. Below is the video of various WWE Superstars like Dolph Ziggler, Seth Rollins, the Riott Squad and more reacting to the Evolution PPV and praising the performance of the female stars:

Was Evolution Really Sold Out?, Nikki Bella Hints At Taking Another Break From Wrestling

Was Evolution Really Sold Out?

Both Michael Cole and Renee Young mentioned during the Evolution PPV that the event was sold out but unlike other events, the commentary team didn’t mention the number of attendance.

Later fans in attendance posted some photos of the event from their Twitter accounts which reveal that the show wasn’t actually sold out as claimed.

The photos as seen below reveal that there were many empty seats in the arena and from the looks of it, it appears that the company was only able to sell out about 70% tickets for the show:

Nikki Bella Hints At Taking Another Break From Wrestling

Nikki Bella challenged Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey for her title in the main event of Evolution PPV but the former Diva’s Champion was unsuccessful in her quest.

Bella was interviewed backstage after her loss and talking about her match with the former UFC Star, Nikki said that the PPV proved that the Diva’s Era is officially over.

However continuing on the topic, Nikki Bella claimed that she is not done with Ronda and hinted at possibly taking another break, saying “When I come back here, I’m going to be a brand new woman”:

Fans Boo Crown Jewel Promo During Evolution (Video)

WWE made the surprising decision to promote the Crown Jewel PPV during last night’s Evolution event and as you can expect, the idea didn’t go over with the fans in attendance.

WWE debuted a new video package promoting the upcoming Crown Jewel event set to be held in Saudi Arabia later this week during the All Women’s PPV.

However, as soon as the Crown Jewel logo appeared on the jumbotron, the crowd started booing. Below you can see a video of people booing as Michael Cole promotes the upcoming show:

https://twitter.com/GIFSkull/status/1056729197391962112

Though the Officials were quick to respond to the situation. According to fans in attendance, the company took the graphics of the upcoming show off from the jumbotron within seconds.

This incident proves that the fans who are unhappy with the company moving forward with the event are going to raise their voice against it.

Now it’d be interesting to see how WWE handles the situation at the upcoming shows and whether or not they promote the event during the go home episodes of Raw and SmackDown this week.

WWE Crown Jewel takes place from Riyadh Saudi Arabia on Friday, November 2nd. You can check out an updated card for the event here.

Nia Jax Wins Battle Royal At WWE Evolution

Nia Jax won the battle royal at Sunday’s (October 28, 2018) WWE Evolution pay-per-view event in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on the WWE Network. As a result of this win, she has earned the right to challenge for the Women’s Title at a later date.

Zelina Vega, Torrie Wilson, Asuka, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Lana, Carmella, Naomi, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Ember Moon, Dana Brooke, Tamina Snuka, Michelle McCool, WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze, WWE Hall of Famer Ivory, Molly Holly, Kelly Kelly, and Maria Kanellis also competed in the match.

It’s possible that Jax will challenge Ronda Rousey for the WWE RAW Women’s Title at the next WWE PPV event. The Survivor Series pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, November 18, 2018 in Los Angeles, California at the Staples Center and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets.

WWE could have Rousey and Nikki Bella continue their program after this show and book a rematch at Survivor Series which would delay Jax getting the title shot. Time will tell what WWE intends to do next.

What are your thoughts on Jax winning this match and future title opportunity? Sound off in the comment section.

The distraction leads to Carmella eliminating Mandy Rose. Ember eliminates Dana Brooke next, and then Carmella. After some more eliminations, we’re down to five women: Ivory, Asuka, Nia Jax, Zelina Vega and Tamina. Ivory comes off the top turnbuckle with a cross body on Nia. Shayna applies several holds and tries to yank Kairi’s shoulder backwards. Kairi finally fights up and nails Shayna in the face. They fight into the corner and Shayna again yanks up Kairi by the shoulder. The ref calls for the break because they’ve over the ropes, so Shayna drops Kairi down to the floor. Back in the ring, Kairi comes back with a DDT. The fight spills out to ringside and they brawl into the front row. Kairi pulls Shayna back over the barricade and drops her on the floor. Someone attacks Kairi from the front row but the referee doesn’t see it, and we’re told she’s Shayna’s training partner. The women gets on the apron now but Kairi kicks her down. They fight up to the turnbuckle, and Becky throws Charlotte from the top rope down to the mat. Becky slams Charlotte down and then throws her out of the ring to the floor. Becky grabs a kendo stick and tees off on Charlotte with shots. Becky looks under the ring for weapons as the crowd chants for tables. Charlotte fights back and hits a back suplex on Becky on to the pile of chairs in the ring. Charlotte grabs a table at ringside, but when she gets back on the apron Becky kicks her down to the floor. Becky sets up the table in the ring now. Charlotte comes back in and Becky hits a suplex on Charlotte on the chairs. Becky lays Charlotte on the table, but Charlotte gets up and drops Becky and then puts her on the table. Charlotte goes up top and hits a moonsault on Becky on the table, but the table doesn’t break. Charlotte sets Becky back on the table and goes up top again, and Charlotte hits a swanton bomb on Becky through the table. Charlotte goes out to ringside and gets a ladder and throws it in the ring. As Charlotte gets to her feet, Becky grabs her and suplexes Charlotte on to the ladder. Charlotte comes back and takes out Becky’s knee. They fight over to the ladder and Charlotte applies the Figure Four on Becky through the rungs of the ladder. Becky taps, but it doesn’t matter as it’s Last Woman Standing rules. Becky grabs a steel chair off the mat and smashes it over Charlotte’s knee until she releases the hold. Both women are hurt, and Becky rolls out of the ring, grabs her Title belt and starts walking through the crowd. Charlotte gets to her feet and chases Becky into the crowd, and they start brawling in the stands. They fight back to ringside and Charlotte slams Becky’s head into the announce table. Charlotte sets up a ladder on the floor, then Becky slams Charlotte on the announce table and starts climbing the ladder. Becky goes flying off the ladder with an elbow drop on Charlotte through the announce table. The ref starts counting and Becky is up to her feet first. Charlotte gets up at 9, but Becky kicks her right back down and pummels on her. Becky starts piling objects on top of Charlotte on the floor, including chairs and table pieces. The ref starts counting, and Charlotte gets up at the ref’s 9 count again. Becky looks shocked and Charlotte grabs a kendo stick and starts teeing off on Becky. Charlotte hits a spear on the floor and both women are down. Charlotte grabs a table from under the ring and sets it up at ringside. Charlotte and Becky fight up to the apron, and Becky ends up powerbombing Charlotte off the apron through the table on the floor, and Charlotte lands hard. Charlotte tries to get up, but can’t get to her feet before the ref’s 10 count, and the ref calls the match.

The opening bell sounds and Ronda starts off with a big judo throw, and Nikki looks rattled. Ronda toys with Nikki now and throws her down again. Ronda teases going for an armbar, but she toys with Nikki some more. The fight spills out to ringside and Brie causes a distraction that leads to Nikki dropping Ronda. She throws Ronda into the ring post and then takes her back in the ring. Nikki applies a side headlock on the mat now and tries to keep Ronda grounded. Brie interferes again with another cheap shot, and they slam Ronda into the ring post. Nikki continues the offense and they fight up to the top turnbuckle. Ronda fights Nikki down and looks for a flying cross body, but Nikki dodges it. Nikki goes over to Ronda, but Ronda catches her and goes for a judo throw. Brie tries to get involved but Ronda grabs her two and she hits a double Samoan Drop on both Bellas. Ronda gets distracted at ringside throwing Brie into the announce table. The Bellas Were Caught Off Guard By WWE’s Announcement Of Evolution

WWE’s announcement of Evolution took a lot of people by surprise. Even The Bella Twins. WWE will host its first-ever all-female pay-per-view (PPV) tomorrow (Sat., October 27, 2018) from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. The show will be headlined by two of WWE’s biggest female stars.

RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey will defend her title against Nikki Bella. Nikki’s sister, Brie, will likely be in her corner. Recently, The Bella Twins took part in a Q&A panel at the Ace Comic Con in Chicago. During the session, they were asked about their reaction to the announcement of the PPV.

Never Saw It Coming

Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, and Triple H made the announcement inside the ring, with all the WWE Superstars on the entrance ramp of RAW. Brie initially assumed the announcement was going to be in regards to Women’s Tag Team Titles:

“I actually thought they were probably bringing in tag team titles for the women, just because of how everyone was out in the ring and they were speaking,” Brie said. “And I wasn’t expecting an all women’s pay-per-view.

“Look, I have goosebumps just saying it out loud. I was sitting on the couch watching and I was like, ‘wait, what?’ It really made me teary eyed. I was like, ‘wow, this is a really historic moment for WWE.’”

As for Nikki, she was definitely taken aback by the announcement. She believed women would main event a WrestleMania before getting their own PPV:

“I was with Brie and I remember we were both floored,” Nikki said. “I mean, I was in shock. And I had no idea it was coming either. I thought we might see first women main eventing WrestleMania and then an all women’s pay-per-view, but I love the fact that that [has] come before that. It’s amazing.”

Evolution Main Event Confirmed, Cody Rhodes Says He Won’t Be At Upcoming ROH/NJPW Supershow

Evolution Main Event Confirmed

There were many who believed that the match between Ronda Rousey and Nikki Bella will be main eventing the Evolution PPV and a latest report has seemingly confirmed it.

Ronda and Nikki have apparently been practicing their match ‘all week’ in order to “make sure it goes over well in the main event position,” according to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

This report clears all the doubts about the Raw Women’s Championship match being the last bout of the show. Now it’d be interesting to see if this duo is able to put on a match worthy of the spot.

Cody Rhodes Says He Won’t Be At Upcoming ROH/NJPW Supershow

Cody Rhodes has been dropping hints about his future with teases that range from a WWE return to transitioning into a new role in the industry once his contract expires.

Another one of these signs came yesterday morning when he replied to a tweet about the upcoming ROH/NJPW Supershow, saying that he won’t be there:

These teases are expected to continue throughout the rest of the year. However, it’s most likely that we’ll only get an idea about the future of Cody and the rest of the Being The Elite cast next year.

Alexa Bliss Not Wrestling At Evolution, Replacement Announced

We noted before how former Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss suffered another injury last weekend, putting her status for the upcoming Evolution PPV in question.

While Mickie James recently confirmed during an interview that Bliss will at least be at the event, her in-ring return was still up in the air.

Now WWE.com has confirmed that she won’t be wrestling at the PPV and the company released the following statement, announcing her replacement for the show:

“Although James was originally slated to team with Alexa Bliss, The Goddess will be replaced by the wily Fox in this blockbuster match-up, and will instead be in Mickie & Alicia’s corner.”

Alexa Bliss had been out of action since her match against Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey at the Hell In A Cell PPV where she suffered an arm injury.

She returned to action during Friday’s Live Event last week but word started making round that the former SmackDown Star suffered another injury during the weekend.

Later it was revealed that the former Champion suffered a concussion while wrestling at Saturday’s Live Event from Hartford, CT. WWE was still hoping for her to get cleared but now it’s confirmed that she won’t be wrestling at the show after all.

Bully Ray Pitches Great Idea for The Finish of Becky-Charlotte At Evolution

This Sunday at WWE Evolution, Becky Lynch puts the SmackDown Women’s Championship on the line against Charlotte Flair in a Last Woman Standing match. Their feud has been one of the highlights of WWE television over the past several weeks and Lynch is starting to come into her own as a heel character. Fans are beginning to accept Becky as a villain, but she’s been an underdog fan favorite for so long that getting people to boo her has not been an easy task.

During an episode of Busted Open Radio this week, co-host Bully Ray pitched a pretty clever idea about how WWE should book the finish of this match. He suggests that WWE should utilize Ric Flair in a way that would all-but-guarantee a negative reaction for the Irish Superstar.

“So, remember last week how we were talking about how can you possibly get heat on Becky Lynch?” Bully Ray posed. “We were saying you have to do something drastic, and probably the only person you can utilize in this whole situation would be a feeble Ric Flair.”

“Alright, so what if at Evolution, in the ‘Last Woman Standing’ match, something really, really bad happened to Charlotte at the end of the match. Let’s just say … and I know this is not going to happen … let’s just say Charlotte was bleeding. Let’s just say Charlotte was busted open. Let’s just say Charlotte was in a really bad predicament, and [Ric] Flair came out … ‘Naitch came out because he was really concerned about his daughter. He didn’t put his hands on her, he didn’t try to help her up, he didn’t get involved in the match in any way, shape or form.”

Bully Ray continued, “But as he’s walking over to his daughter, he were to trip and fall and take a bump. Then we saw him clutching or hurting or something happened. What if Becky Lynch were to take a chair and stand over Ric Flair, threatening to cave his head in unless Charlotte stayed down for the ten count. How would you feel about that?”

Threatening physical harm against Ric Flair (who is shielding his daughter from harm) would be a despicable move by the champion. Even Becky Lynch fans would question if she’s going too far to score a victory. Sounds like great storytelling to us.

Becky ‘Balboa’ appeared on Busted Open earlier today (Friday). We will have a report up soon.

Catch Busted Open on SiriusXM satellite radio weekday mornings from 9am-12pm EST on channel Rush 93.

How Did That “Leaked” WWE Evolution Card Turn Out ?

More than a month ago, a photo of an alleged leaked WWE Evolution card began circulating online. Leaks of internal WWE documents are not unprecedented. Whether it be announcer scripts, full run sheets for Raw, or a promo checklist, this kind of information has made its way into the public eye before.

The accuracy of the “leaked” WWE Evolution card was highly questionable from the beginning. Certainly, someone could make some educated guesses, produce a fake run sheet, and pass it off as the real thing. Given the legendary “plans change” phrase that fans hear time and again, however, is it possible that the photo was legitimate? Let’s examine this further.

What Was Wrong

The photo claimed a 20-woman battle royal would take place on the show. There have been 21 participants officially announced, with several additional competitors likely to be added to make that number 25 or 30.

Asuka and Ember Moon will not take place, as they will both compete in the battle royal. Kairi Sane will not defend against the battle royal winner, at least on this show. Alicia Fox and Kelly Kelly vs. IIconics vs. Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville vs. Beth Phoenix and Natalya is not a match.

Naomi vs. Melina also will not happen, although it is possible that Melina could appear in the battle royal as well.

The NXT UK Women’s Title match was purportedly going to be a four-way, while in reality, it will be a singles match (spoiler).

While the Riott Squad vs. Bayley, Sasha Banks, and Ivory report was almost right, it turned out to be off by one wrestler.

Mickie James vs. Lita and Trish Stratus vs. Alexa Bliss were both announced on television. As it turns out, those matches were combined into a tag match. So, close, but still technically wrong.

What Was “Right”

Toni Storm vs. Io Shirai to crown the 2018 Mae Young Classic winner turned out to be an accurate report. Similarly, the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship match featuring Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch will take place at Evolution. At first glance these might seem like accurate assertions, but WWE’s announcement that all women’s titles being defended on the PPV predates this run sheet being circulating online.

The main event between RAW Women’s Championship match with Ronda Rousey vs. Nikki Bella was also accurate. However, that expected match-up was first reported by Dave Meltzer back in August, so there was nothing original here either.

What We Don’t Know

A special announcement segment to introduce the Women’s Tag Team Titles seems likely, but has not been confirmed.

A Carmella talk show segment featuring members of the GLOW cast also seems to make sense, but there is also no official word on that.

The Verdict

While WWE’s booking of Evolution might have been a work in progress since the “leaked” document circulated online, we’re calling BS on this run sheet being authentic.

Latest On WWE Introducing Women’s Tag Team Championships

WWE Evolution is this weekend, and with it comes speculation about the long-rumored WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. Becky Lynch, Naomi, and Sasha Banks are among the women who have discussed the possibility of adding tag titles to the women’s division of late.

In her interview with Maria Menounos this week, Banks again spoke on the issue. “We have so many great teams right now. We have the IIconics, Mickie and Fox, Absolution. We have tag matches on Raw every single week. So why not make the titles or belts to defend them?”

The timing of Sasha’s remarks (and other factors cited below) indicate that we might be on the verge of another historic moment for WWE’s female competitors.

Do The Belts Exist?

There has been speculation for months about the addition of tag titles. A reliable source, famed wrestling title belt collector and custom belt maker BeltFanDan, stated that the belts representing the championships were manufactured and ready to go as far back as July.

Dan also stated that the belts would be defended across both Raw and Smackdown brands.

Although the belts were not introduced when Dan had originally claimed, he is well-connected and has a proven track record of accurate reporting on championship belts.

That “Leaked Evolution Booking Sheet”

While its authenticity is still in question, the “leaked WWE Evolution booking sheet” that was circulating online a few months ago featured the announcement of WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.

More Breadcrumbs

Longtime wrestling podcaster The Solomonster (Jason Solomon) retweeted a fan who was present at the Smackdown tapings this week, where it appeared that WWE was passing out these signs to fans. That would certainly suggest that the plans for the titles are already in place, and that the announcement is imminent.

Backstage News On Trish Stratus And Lita’s Future After Evolution, Lana Gets Hacked

Backstage News On Trish Stratus And Lita’s Future After Evolution

Both Trish Stratus and Lita are expected to return to ring at the upcoming Evolution PPV but it appears that this won’t be their last match in near future.

According to Pwinsider, WWE expects these two to work more matches in the future. The company is planning to use them for big events like Royal Rumble and WrestleMania in upcoming times.

They both are set to face Alexa Bliss and Mickie James at the Evolution PPV. As we noted before, Bliss is scheduled to appear at the event but whether or not she will wrestle at the show is not clear.

Lana Gets Hacked

Strange posts started to appear from Lana’s Instagram account yesterday. The last few posts from her account claimed that she is giving away a number of iPhones and Apple Watches.

The SmackDown Star took on her Twitter account to address this situation later in the day and revealed that her Instagram had actually been hacked:

Lana is currently scheduled to take part in the announced Battle Royal for the Evolution PPV, with the winner getting a future title opportunity. You can check out an updated match card and betting odds for the event here.

Alexa Bliss Confirmed For Evolution, In Ring Return Still Up In The Air

We noted before how Alexa Bliss hinted at Evolution appearance after suffering an injury last week and now her partner for the event Mickie James has confirmed her status for the show.

James was recently a guest on Busted Open Radio where she was asked if the former Raw Women’s Champion will be at the PPV and she said that Bliss will definitely be there on Sunday.

Continuing on the topic, Mickie claimed that she talks to Alexa every day and she is doing better. She also said that they are going to be out there and it’s going to be amazing.

As far as Bliss’ in-ring return goes, Pwinsider confirmed the reports of her injury and revealed that she has been kept away from the WWE programming in order to give her rest so she can be ready for Evolution.

While it’s not 100% confirmed, the belief is that the former Champion will be ready in time for her match against Lita and Trish Stratus at the upcoming show this Sunday.

Though as we noted before, Alicia Fox was also a part of the Raw segment this week involving both the mentioned Hall Of Famers. It’s possible that she will replace Alexa if she is not cleared in time for the historic PPV.

As of this writing, Alexa Bliss is still scheduled to team up with Mickie James and compete against Lita and Trish Stratus in a tag match at Evolution.

Lilian Garcia Comments On WWE Return At Evolution

WWE’s first-ever all-female pay-per-view (PPV) is right around the corner. This weekend (Sun. October 28, 2018), WWE will host Evolution from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. As we’ve previously noted, WWE has already announced the broadcast team for the event. That includes former WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia making her return.

She’ll handle ring announcing duties along with JoJo Offerman and Kayla Braxton. Soon after the announcement was made, Garcia took to Twitter to comment on the news. She noted that she has been holding in the news for weeks. Garcia is proud to be a part of the groundbreaking event and happy to be coming back “home” to WWE:

“FINALLY!!!! This is a secret I have been holding for weeks and weeks and today  has made the official announcement!! YES! I’m sooo excited to announce that I will be a part of  this Sunday!!  Can’t wait to come HOME!”

What do you think of Garcia returning at WWE Evolution this weekend?
