Evolution Reunites On WWE SmackDown 1000

Evolution, which is a group that consists of Triple H, Batista, Randy Orton, and Ric Flair, reunited on WWE SmackDown 1000 that took place on Tuesday night in Washington, DC at the Capital One Arena on the USA Network.

Flair and Triple H talked about how great it was to be on the 1000th episode of the show while Orton took a shot at Batista being in a makeup chair more than he has in the ring. Batista stated that he’s going to ignore what Orton said and enjoy this moment. Batista said that he is proud to say that he helped build as well as it being held in his hometown. He thanked the fans for their support even though sometimes hated him and finally, Batista said that when that music hits, there is a different feeling in the arena as they brought a force of an army and that the group would never be done again.

Batista would later praise Orton and Flair but stated that when it comes to Triple H, he might run the business and has done it all but has never beaten him. Batista and Triple H had a stare down then hugged to close the segment.

The group was featured as the top stable on Monday Night RAW between 2003 and 2005. They started to dissolve in 2004 in storyline once all of the members lost their titles that included the Intercontinental Championship, World Heavyweight Championship, and World Tag Team Championship. Triple H, Batista and Flair turned on Orton the night after SummerSlam in 2004 when Orton won the world title from Chris Benoit.

This would lead to the group kicking him out and a program between Orton and Triple H started with eventually “The Game” coming out on top. Moving along to January of 2005, Batista won the Royal Rumble and later turned on Triple H that led to Batista winning the world title from him at WrestleMania 21. The final break up came when Triple H turned on and attacked Flair later that year.

In 2014, Evolution reformed once Batista joined forces with Triple H and Orton. Due to his retirement from in-ring action, Flair wasn’t included in the revival of the faction. Their reunion on SmackDown 1000 marked the first time that they were a group together involving all four members in 14 years on WWE TV.

A new match has been announced for the upcoming Evolution PPV. At Saturday’s NXT UK TV tapings, Isla Dawn defeated Killer Kelly to earn a title shot at the NXT UK Women’s Title at Evolution. NXT UK Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley will defend the title at the show.

If you recall, Ripley defeated Toni Storm in an 8-woman tournament to determine the inaugural champion a few months ago. It should be noted that this tournament has yet to air but will do so on the WWE Network.

The Evolution pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and will air on the WWE Network. WWE is hyping that there will be over 50 women from WWE’s past and present competing in the first-ever WWE Women’s pay-per-view broadcast.

Trish Stratus & Lita Could Stick Around After Evolution

WWE Hall Of Famers Lita and Trish Stratus will return to the ring later this month (Sun. October 28th, 2018). The pair will be involved in the first-ever all-female pay-per-view (PPV) in WWE history. They will team up against the duo of Alexa Bliss and Mickie James.

Initially, Trish and Lita were scheduled to have their own singles matches on the card. Trish was to have a one-on-one match with Bliss, while Lita was booked for a singles match with James. However, as the storyline progressed on WWE TV, it was revealed on RAW this week that the match would instead be a Tag Team bout.

It looks like this could be just the first of many Tag Teams between Trish and Lita. PWInsider reports that WWE is planning to have the two stick around after Evolution. The plan would be to have them appear on “major shows” as a team moving forward.

It wasn’t specifically mentioned which shows WWE is hoping for, however, obvious candidates such as Survivor Series and WrestleMania come to mind. This is also very interesting considering the rumors surrounding possible Women’s Tag Team Titles coming to WWE.

What do you think about Trish and Lita sticking around WWE as a team?

SmackDown Women’s Title Match Set For WWE Evolution

A new match has been announced for the upcoming WWE Evolution PPV. As seen on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live in Indianapolis, IN at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse on the USA Network, Becky Lynch defended the SmackDown Women’s Title against Charlotte Flair in the opening match, which saw it end by double count-out.

Flair would then spear Lynch through part of the stage. Later in the show, SmackDown General Manager Paige announced that Lynch would defend the SmackDown Women’s Title against Flair in a Last Woman Standing Match at the Evolution PPV.

Lynch and Flair also wrestled at Saturday’s (October 6, 2018) WWE Super Show-Down pay-per-view event at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne, Australia on the WWE Network that saw Lynch retain after being DQ once she hit Flair with the title.

Details On WWE Making Changes To Top Evolution PPV Matches

WWE made some big changes to top matches that were scheduled to take place at the WWE Evolution pay-per-view have been nixed.

The original matches had Alexa Bliss vs. Trish Stratus and Mickie James vs. Lita in singles matches. That all changed on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in Rosemont, IL at the Allstate Arena on the USA Network.

Stratus will team up with Lita to take on James and Bliss in a tag team match at this show. Dave Meltzer noted on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that the plan was always for it to be a tag team match.

The longtime pro wrestling journalist noted that the reason WWE first announced the Stratus vs. Bliss match was to boost ticket sales early on due to them not being able to announce the Ronda Rousey vs. Nikki Bella match until they did the angle for the upcoming RAW Women’s Title bout. Once this match was revealed, the company felt like they could make the change of singles matches to the tag team match public.

The Evolution pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and will air on the WWE Network.

Ronda Rousey vs. Nikki Bella Official For WWE Evolution

A new match involving Ronda Rousey has been announced for the upcoming Evolution PPV. The Evolution pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and will air on the WWE Network. Batista Returning At SmackDown 1,000 For Evolution Reunion

WWE has confirmed that Batista is returning at the upcoming SmackDown 1,000 special. The Animal will be back for a reunion of Evolution, the popular early 2000’s stable that also included Ric flair, Triple H and Randy Orton.

Evolution Faction in WWE

Evolution’s main run in WWE was from 2003 to 2005. This was during the original brand split era. Throughout their run, the faction won the World Heavyweight Championship a total of 5x. The world title of the Raw brand was won 4x by Triple H and once by Randy Orton.

Batista and Ric Flair also held the WWE tag-team Championships twice while members of Evolution. Randy Orton and Ric Flair each won the Intercontinental Championship while part of the faction as well.

The stable reunited briefly in 2014 as well minus Ric Flair. This was spurred on by Daniel Bryan defeating all 3 of them at WrestleMania 30. Following WrestleMania 30, Evolution entered into a feud with the Shield.

Batista’s inclusion in the Smackdown 1000th episode will be good news to him. He has been vocal as of late that he’s wanted to make a WWE return but the company hadn’t seem interested.

He Tweeted out the following regarding the upcoming Smackdown episode recently: “Surprise surprise!! I wasn’t invited! And it’s in my hometown.! .. guess by now I shouldn’t be shocked anymore.”

Title Match Announced For WWE Evolution

A new match has been announced for the upcoming WWE Evolution PPV. As seen on this week’s episode of NXT on the WWE Network, which was taped last week in Winter Park, FL at Full Sail University, it was revealed that Shayna Baszler would get her rematch for the NXT Women’s Title against Kairi Sane at this show.

If you recall, Sane defeated Baszler to win the title at the WWE NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 event in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center. This wasn’t the first time that they worked against each other as Sane defeated Baszler in the tournament finals of the first Mae Young Classic that took place last year. She was then signed by the WWE and placed in the NXT brand.

The Evolution pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and will air on the WWE Network. WWE will be announcing more matches for this show in the coming weeks.

Alexa Bliss Injury Update

The latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio provided an Alexa Bliss injury update. Although short on specifics, Dave Meltzer provided a notable report on Bliss’s current status.

“She’s cleared for minimal contact” Meltzer said on the Tuesday morning edition of Observer Radio (subscription required). “But she’s not cleared to fully wrestle.”

Bliss has not wrestled since the Hell in a Cell show on September 16. Her absence from the ring is linked to her reportedly suffering from numbness in her left arm.

That injury is just one of several that have plagued the Raw women’s roster of late. Sasha Banks is currently out due to undisclosed medical reasons.

Liv Morgan was also injured during a match on Raw Monday after eating a pair of kicks to the face.

Mickie James also missed time in July and August, reportedly due to an undisclosed injury. Ruby Riott also missed time this summer with a knee injury.

After seemingly ending her program with Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey, Bliss looked on from ringside on Monday Night Raw as Nia Jax took on Alicia Fox.

Bliss is still slated to take on WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus at the WWE Evolution show, set for October 28.

Who should Bliss face after her match with Trish? Do you take this Alexa Bliss injury update as good news?

Sasha Banks Injury Update

The latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio provided a Sasha Banks injury update. After being pulled from the Mixed Match Challenge and this past weekend’s live events, fans were left to speculate on the current status of The Boss. Banks was also notably absent from Raw this week.

Although details remain murky, Dave Meltzer provided more insight. “I don’t have a specific injury. She’s off for medical reasons,” Meltzer said on the Tuesday morning edition of Observer Radio (subscription required).

Meltzer went on to speculate on what the lack of specific details given from those within WWE on the injury might mean.

“Whatever reason, I don’t know why they wouldn’t say. Usually when they don’t say, there’s a story as to why,” he said. “So, you end up getting more suspicious.”

For Banks, this medical issue comes at an inopportune time. With the all-women’s Evolution show scheduled for October 28, Banks would likely be featured on that card, if healthy.

This is notable considering that she has wrestled just once on a pay-per-view event since Wrestlemania 34. Banks is a 4-time Raw Women’s Champion, a record she shares with Charlotte Flair.

Do you think Sasha Banks will be back in time for Evolution?

Spoiler: NXT Women’s Title Match Set For WWE Evolution

A new title match for the upcoming WWE Evolution event has been revealed. WWE was in Winter Park, FL at Full Sail University on Thursday night for the NXT TV tapings and at the tapings, it was revealed that Shayna Baszler would get her rematch for the NXT Women’s Title against Kairi Sane at this show.

If you recall, Sane defeated Baszler to win the title at the WWE NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 event in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center at the Center.

Sane is the eighth champion in the history of the NXT Women’s Title as the first champion was Paige in 2013. Baszler held the title for 133 days after beating Ember Moon to win it at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans during WrestleMania 34 weekend on April 7, 2018 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Evolution pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and will air on the WWE Network. WWE will be announcing more matches for this show in the coming weeks. Here is the updated card:

What are your thoughts on this latest match announcement?

Lana On Who She Wants To Face At Evolution

WWE Superstar Lana was recently interviewed by Newsweek to talk about her professional wrestling career.

“The Ravishing Russian” first revealed the roughest bump she has taken thus far in her career inside the ring. She named a few shots she has recently taken from Zelina Vega as being in particularly uncomfortable:

“When you’re out there doing things, your adrenaline is rushing so much. But getting kicked in the face is never fun.

“There have been a lot of different painful things, but when you’re kicked in the face or kneed in the face, it’s not the most pleasant thing.

“Zelina used the codebreaker knee on me and I started bleeding. I thought I broke my nose or busted my teeth. Then she kneed me to the face again.

“It was definitely not by any means pleasant, and I’m really glad when I came backstage that I was alive still. It’s a contact sport, it’s very physical and intense. When you walk out there, you have to know anything can happen and to keep your hands up.”

Advice From A Veteran

Lana then revealed what Natalya told her before her match at WrestleMania 32. Team Total Divas (Alicia Fox, Brie Bella, Eva Marie, Natalya and Paige) took on Team B.A.D. and Blonde (Emma, Lana, Naomi, Summer Rae and Tamina):

“Oh my gosh, I was so nervous at WrestleMania when I debuted. I never had a live match ever. I’d had practice matches, but a practice match in front of no one is very different from a real match.

“Nattie gave me this pep talk, saying ‘you can’t not be inspired. This is the highest stake thing you’re ever going to have, and you’re going to sink or swim. So you better go out there and prove everyone who doubted you wrong.’

“All of a sudden, you’re like ‘I’m motivated!’ And once you walk out there you realize, ‘I’m born for this, there is nothing in the world like this.'”

Lana’s Dream Opponent For Evolution

With WWE’s first-ever all-female Evolution PPV coming up, Lana was asked who she’d like to face on the card. Interestingly, Lana named Stephanie McMahon as her dream opponent:

“There are so many women on the current roster who are just incredible competitors, and I’d love to fight them. But then there are so many women from the past I would love to fight.

“I mean, who doesn’t want to get in the ring with Trish or Lita or Molly Holly? Trish was my inspiration for so long. But I’ve always been a huge fan of Stephanie McMahon. Growing up, I wanted to be in WWE because of watching characters like Stephanie McMahon and Paul Heyman.

“They just are such incredible storytellers, such incredible, compelling characters. When I look at Stephanie McMahon’s entire career, I’m always blown away at how she just moves your soul.

“Literally, my heart is moved by her. Either I hate her, or love her, or love to hate her. I probably won’t face off with her at Evolution, but just in general she is one of my dream opponents.”

WWE Evolution Main Event Expected To Be Ronda Rousey vs. Nikki Bella

There is another reliable report out regarding the planned WWE Evolution main event. According to the Wrestling Observer, Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey will face Nikki Bella in the headline match of WWE’s historic all-women’s pay-per-view.

“The lead idea for the Evolution main event on 10/28 at the Nassau Coliseum is Rousey vs. Nikki Bella,” wrote Dave Meltzer. “With the idea you are headlining with the two biggest mainstream women stars in the company.”

Over the past week, we’ve seen The Bella Twins return to WWE television and Ronda Rousey capture the RAW Women’s Championship. At both SummerSlam and Raw, the Bella Twins have had stood alongside Rousey in celebrating her championship victory.

WWE Evolution takes place on Sunday, October 28th from Long Island, New York at the Nassau Coliseum. Expect to see more interactions between Rousey and the Bellas in the coming weeks. The Bellas have been supportive of Rousey thus far. It will be interesting to see how and when things go sideways.

Visit our WWE Evolution event page for more information.

WWE Evolution Main Event

The storyline may have already started to take shape this week. The Bellas were ringside during Rousey’s segment with Stephanie McMahon on Raw. They were also shown watching Rousey win the title at Summerslam.

The Bellas and Rousey are not strangers. The Bellas would sometimes train with Ronda when they were in California before Rousey got into the business herself. Rousey and her team would teach the twins MMA and judo moves, while the Bellas taught them wrestling moves. The Bellas and Rousey appeared together at the 2015 ESPY awards as well.

In 2015, Nikki told TMZ reporters she would love to face Ronda some day.

Alexa Bliss Reveals How She Found Out About Facing Trish Stratus At WWE Evolution

Former WWE RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss has opened up on how she found out that she would be facing a WWE Hall of Famer at the Evolution show.

Over the weekend, the company made it official by announcing that Bliss would take on Trish Stratus at the first-ever all-women’s Evolution pay-per-view event. WWE has released this video of Bliss talking about the match, which was recorded prior to her losing the RAW Women’s Title to Ronda Rousey at Sunday’s (August 19, 2018) WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center on the WWE Network.

“I found out like everyone else did on Twitter, Bliss said. She continued by stating that it was pretty cool and really exciting as she was surprised by it because she loves Stratus as she watched her growing up.

She added that she’s really excited to have this chance as she wasn’t able to compete in the Women’s Royal Rumble match in January at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event.

The Evolution pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and will air on the WWE Network.

Former Women’s Champion Advertised For WWE Evolution

Another former WWE Women’s Champion is advertised for the first-ever all-women’s Evolution event. PWinsider.com reports that WWE showed a graphic of Michelle McCool for the event during the NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 special, which would indicate that she will be making an appearance.

On Saturday night, WWE officially announced the first match for WWE Evolution. WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus is coming out of retirement once again to face RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss.

WWE Evolution: Rumored Plans For The Main Event

The main event of the upcoming WWE Evolution pay-per-view event may have been revealed.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the current plan is for former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey take on Nikki Bella in the main event of the show. A Ronda Rousey vs. Nikki Bella match might seem unusual, but they are the biggest female stars in WWE and will garner WWE the most publicity for Evolution.

This does play into the latest announcement for the show as the company announced on Saturday, August 18th that Alexa Bliss will face WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus at the show.

Nikki Bella has not wrestled a match in a WWE ring since March where she teamed up with John Cena to beat Elias and Sonya Deville at a live event at MSG. She also wrestled in January at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event where she competed as a participant in the Women’s Royal Rumble match.

The Evolution pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and will air on the WWE Network.
