WWE is reportedly planning to make a major change to the announced WrestleMania 37 main event between the Universal Champion Roman Reigns and the 2021 Royal Rumble winner Edge.
The Universal Championship match at tonight’s Fastlane saw a chaotic ending. Daniel Bryan accidently hit the special guest enforcer Edge with a chair while trying to take out Roman Reigns.
Edge replied to this attack by taking out Bryan with a chair. He then put Reigns out with a chair shot as well. The Rated R Superstar hit Bryan once again after this and yelled that it was all his fault.
The Hall Of Famer then exited the ring. The chaos allowed Reigns to cover his opponent and retain the Universal Championship to end the show.
While the company showed a Roman Reigns vs. Edge graphic for WrestleMania 37 before the ending, latest report suggests that this match will be altered.
According to reports from F4wonline, the company has decided to make the Universal Championship match a triple threat involving Daniel Bryan and the Fastlane finish was a setup for the same.
There is no word yet on when WWE will officially announce the changes in the bout but they are likely to follow up on the situation on SmackDown this Friday and it’s possible that the triple threat will be made official then.
Fastlane will reportedly see a huge Last Man Standing match on its card that will determine the WrestleMania card and lineup. While there are only three matches confirmed on the card so far, a report suggests that one more match that will have a significant effect on the WrestleMania card and the WWE Championship picture is in the works. According to a report by Wrestling Observer, a Last Man Standing match between Drew McIntyre and Sheamus is in the works for Fastlane, and the winner will become the challenger for Bobby Lashley’s WWE Championship at WrestleMania 37.
On the last episode of Monday Night Raw, we saw former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre face Sheamus in a match. The match was set when Sheamus attacked McIntyre from behind during an interview earlier in the show. This resulted in a No Disqualification match set up between the two. Drew McIntyre got payback for the attack from before by attacking Sheamus during his entrance, and then he went on to dominate the beginning of the match. The No DQ match went on with the introductions of kendo sticks and steel chairs eventually. Later, both McIntyre and Sheamus got hold of steel steps each and charged at each other. They both collided and fell to the floor, with the match ending in a no contest.
As there was really no solid outcome from the match, it looks like WWE would give both Drew McIntyre and Sheamus an opportunity to go against each other again at Fastlane. This could very well culminate in a Last Man Standing match on Fastlane, to determine who would challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship at the “Grandest Stage Of ‘Em All.”

Here is what the card for Fastlane looks like so far:
WWE Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler vs. Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair
WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Christian is backstage at the Fastlane pay-per-view event from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, according to Pwinsider.com.
As of this writing, there’s no word yet as to why he’s at the show. It’s possible that he’s filming something for the company for their streaming service, WWE Network, or perhaps a DVD.
Christian hasn’t been seen on WWE television since the RAW 25 Anniversary episode back in January 2018 when he hosted The Peep Show with special guests Jason Jordan and Seth Rollins. However, it was later interrupted by The Bar (Cesaro and Sheamus).
WWE Stars Mock The Shield
The Shield is slated to reunite at Fastlane as Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose join forces once again in order to take on Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, and Baron Corbin in a six-man tag team match.
WWE sent out this video on their Instagram account of the heels mocking The Shield’s “sierra hotel india echo lima delta” phrase and fist bump, which you can see here:

Becky Lynch’s odds have dropped against Charlotte even though it can reasonably be considered a foregone conclusion that Becky would get the win to be re-added to the Wrestlemania main event.

Mandy Rose challenges Asuka for the SmackDown Women’s Championship this Sunday at WWE Fastlane. The two women have been wrestling each other at WWE live events in the lead-up to their pay-per-view battle.
Their match this past Monday from White Plains, NY ended abruptly after Asuka landed on her head and was helped to the back by WWE officials. It was a scary moment, but luckily Asuka was was fine and assured fans the incident did not result in a concussion or neck injury.
Mandy Rose appeared on the Pro Wrestling Showpodcast this week to hype Fastlane and commented on Rose commented on Asuka’s injury scare from Monday.

I had all my nieces and nephews and it was really amazing to have them all there. Of course, not everything always goes according to plan and accidents happen.”
Rose continued, “So, unfortunately, there was a little accident and we took the proper precautions and thankfully, Asuka is fine and she’s doing OK. You know, stuff happens. You can’t dwell on it, you just gotta move on.”

WWE Fastlane takes place next Sunday, March 10th at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. As we reported a few days ago, updated local advertising for the event lists Roman Reigns returning to action.
The ads promote Reigns team up with Seth Rollins in a 2-on-3 handicap match against Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley & Baron Corbin. The latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter provides more information regarding Roman Reigns’ role at Fastlane.
The Big Dog is in fact scheduled to be in action at Fastlane, but his match will be a variation of what’s being advertised locally. As seen on Raw, the returning Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins ran down to ringside and saved Dean Ambrose from an attack at the hands of Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, Elias and Baron Corbin.
According to the Observer report, the current plan is for a Shield reunion at Fastlane. Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose will ride together once again. There are currently two scenarios being discussed for Fastlane. One scenario has The Shield squaring off against McIntyre, Lashley and Corbin.
There is also preliminary talk of Braun Strowman teaming up with The Shield and Elias joining the heel team.
Either way, it’s a safe bet that Reigns will wrestle his first WWE match since October next weekend. We hope to get an update on Raw this coming Monday.

Updated local advertising for the upcoming WWE Fastlane pay-per-view reveals that Roman Reigns will be back action sooner than expected.
Reigns returned to WWE television earlier this week. The former Universal Champion announced that his leukemia is in remission. He did not announce when he will wrestle again, but he got physical later in the show.
The latest local advertising (Cleveland, OH) now lists Roman Reigns teaming up with Seth Rollins in a 2-on-3 handicap match against Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley & Baron Corbin.
We noted earlier on the site that Reigns is advertised for all Monday Night RAW TV events through the May 6th episode in Cincinnati.
The belief is that the former Universal Champion will be added to the RAW TV taping on May 13th in London, England after being advertised for events taking place on the annual post-WrestleMania 35 European tour.

Former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch is no longer advertised to appear at the upcoming Fastlane pay-per-view event by the arena on their website.
Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair was advertised for this show but it has been pulled from the final WWE pay-per-view event before WrestleMania 35. Instead, Flair is just advertised to appear. The arena has also announced RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey for an appearance. As of this writing, her opponent has yet to be advertised.
There’s speculation that AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton will be added to the lineup of the show. WWE has yet to announce this battle between the two former WWE Champions but started to tease the feud on Tuesday’s SmackDown Live episode. It all happened when Orton interrupted Styles while he was doing a promo.

The first match for the next pay-per-view event, Fastlane, under the WWE banner has been set.
During Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live in New Orleans, LA at the Smoothie Center, the opening segment saw Shane McMahon and The Miz did an in-ring segment that led to newly crowned WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos (Jimmy & Jey) walking out to interrupt where they offered to give a rematch to the newly formed team for the straps that they once held.
This is when McMahon accepted the rematch but stated that it would take place at Fastlane.

A match has been nixed from the WWE Fastlane pay-per-view event based on local advertisements.
Originally, Finn Balor vs. WWE Intercontinental Champion Bobby Lashley, Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles vs. WWE Champion Daniel Bryan, and Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair was advertised.
However, Lynch vs. Flair has been pulled from the final WWE pay-per-view event before WrestleMania 35. Instead, they are just advertised to appear. The arena has also announced RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey for an appearance. As of this writing, her opponent has yet to be advertised.
It should be noted that the other matches that were advertised are still listed. WWE has released this new promo for the show, which you can see here:

Two big matches for WrestleMania 35 have also been set as they are Men’s Royal Rumble winner Seth Rollins challenging Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship as well as Women’s Royal Rumble winner Becky Lynch challenging RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. This women’s match could change with the Lynch vs. Flair match at Fastlane could very well set the stage for that change.

As the final stop before WrestleMania, Fastlane is typically a consequential show that sets the stage for WWE’s biggest event of the year. We already have two matches set for WM35. Men’s Royal Rumble winner Seth Rollins will challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship, while women’s Rumble winner is currently advertised to face Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. WWE has been experimenting with their PPV schedule in the past couple of years and with 2019 approaching, fans wondered how the company’s PPV line up will look like in the upcoming year.
While we still don’t know how many special events the company plans to hold throughout the year, thanks to an update we now have an idea about their plans for the road to WrestleMania.
Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland revealed recently that they will be holding the Fastlane PPV on March 10th, confirming that there will be 2 PPVs between Royal Rumble and WrestleMania:
Mark your calendars!
WWE Fastlane is coming to Cleveland & The Q on Sunday, March 10th. The Q Insider Presale starts TODAY at 10AM ? pic.twitter.com/tTz2qQoWuY
After the confirmation, here is the updated WWE PPV schedule for the first quarter of 2019, leading to the Biggest Wrestling Event of the year:
Royal Rumble, Jan. 27 at Chase Field in Phoenix
Elimination Chamber, Feb. 17 at Toyota Center in Houston
Fastlane, Mar. 10 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland
WrestleMania 35, April 7 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey
This will be the fifth annual Fastlane PPV. While it doesn’t bear the same excitement as Royal Rumble, Fastlane usually revolves one or two major WrestleMania angles every year and it’s only after this PPV that we get a clear idea of the company’s plans for the event.
– As we’ve noted, Asuka chose to challenge Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34 for the SmackDown Live Women’s Title. The 2018 Women’s Royal Rumble winner had her choice between Flair or RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss. Despite currently being a Superstar on RAW, “The Empress Of Tomorrow” decided to challenge SmackDown Live’s top woman instead. Bliss took to Twitter to react to Asuka’s decision:

– On the Fastlane pre-show last night Breezango teamed up with Tye Dillinger to defeat Mojo Rawley, Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin in a Six-Man Tag Team match. During the match Rawley was receiving “You can’t wrestle” chants from the crowd. He took to Twitter to react after the show:
The early betting odds for WWE’s next pay-per-view event, Fastlane, has been released.
WWE Fastlane is set to take place on Sunday, March 11th, 2018 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets.
This will be an exclusive SmackDown brand event and the final PPV event before Wrestlemania 34.
AJ Styles is favored at -800 to retain his WWE Title in a Six Pack Challenge match against John Cena, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Baron Corbin, and Dolph Ziggler. Here are the betting odds:
– WWE Championship 6 Pack Challenge: AJ Styles (c) -800 vs. John Cena +750 vs. Sami Zayn +850 vs. Kevin Owens +900 vs. Baron Corbin +1000 vs. Dolph Ziggler +1200
– SmackDown Women’s Championship: Charlotte Flair (c) -1000 vs. Ruby Riott +500
– United States Championship: Bobby Roode (c) -120 vs. Randy Orton -120
– SmackDown Tag Team Championship: The Usos (c) -175 vs. The New Day +125
– Singles Match: Shinsuke Nakamura +800 vs. Rusev +450
– Tag Team Match: Becky Lynch & Naomi -150 vs. Natalya & Carmella +110
John Cena’s Road To WrestleMania 34 is probably one of the biggest storylines going in WWE right now. Cena failed to win the Royal Rumble match, lost the Elimination Chamber match after being pinned by Braun Strowman, and will now get his third – and likely final – shot to make it into the headline bout at “The Show Of Shows.” Cena will take part in a Six Pack Challenge match for the WWE Title against Champion AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin, and Dolph Ziggler at Fastlane on pay-per-view (PPV) this weekend.
The winner will go on to WrestleMania to defend the WWE Title against Royal Rumble winner Shinsuke Nakamura. John Cena’s upcoming WWE schedule, however, suggests he probably won’t be winning that match. “The Leader Of The Cenation” is not scheduled for any SmackDown Live events after Fastlane, leading up to WrestleMania.
That means that whatever feud WWE has planned for Cena, he’ll likely be building it up on RAW. Take a look at his upcoming schedule here:
March 11th: Fastlane (Columbus, OH)
March 12th: Raw (Detroit, MI)
March 16th: MSG Live event (NYC)
March 18th: Live event (Oklahoma City, OK)
March 19th: Raw (Dallas, TX)
March 26th: Raw (Cleveland, OH)
April 9th: Raw (New Orleans, LA)
Its been rumored that Cena could be feuding with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 34. With very little options other than Taker out there if Cena doesn’t win the WWE Title this weekend, he very well could be sharing the squared circle with “The Deadman” in New Orleans this April.
The main event of the WWE Fastlane pay-per-view will now be a Fatal 5 Way with WWE Champion AJ Styles defending against Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler.
Tuesday’s SmackDown opened with Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler with the winner earning a spot in the Fastlane main event but that match never happened due to beatdowns from Sami and Owens. The blue brand bosses then booked Sami vs. Ziggler and Owens vs. Corbin singles matches with Corbin and Ziggler advancing to Fastlane if they won their matches, which they did.
Fastlane takes place on March 11th from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio and will be the final pay-per-view before WrestleMania 34.
– Earlier today SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon announced on Twitter that the Triple Threat match between AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn for the WWE Title at Fastlane will now be a Fatal Four-Way match. Next week’s SmackDown Live match between Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler will determine the fourth entrant. AJ Styles and Dolph Ziggler took to Twitter to react to the news:
– As he was discussing SmackDown Live’s Top 10 list on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed why Tye Dillinger has been kept off WWE TV. Meltzer revealed WWE doesn’t want fans doing the “10” chant anymore:
“Dillinger is just a guy on the brand that works prelims and they put him at number 10 and it makes for a cute minute for people to chant 10, which they don’t even want people to chant anyway. That’s why they keep him off TV so much because they don’t want people chanting 10. So the whole thing is completely stupid.”
This year’s WWE Fastlane pay-per-view is scheduled for March 11, 2018 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
The SmackDown-branded event will feature a special appearance by “free agent” John Cena.
Earlier this week, the Facebook Page of the Nationwide Arena posted a video revealing that the main event of Fastlane will feature a Fatal Five Way match for the WWE Championship.
Of course, the card is subject to change, but the participants for the match include WWE Champion AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Shinsuke Nakamura and Sami Zayn.
