Bayley Responds To Rhea Ripley Saying Four Horsewomen Need To Move Over For Next Generation

Bayley is very happy to allow the next generation of women wrestlers to take their spot at the top but not before she has celebrated her own moment.

After defeating Becky Lynch at last night’s WrestleMania 40: Saturday event, Rhea Ripley was asked if the Four Horsewomen’s time in WWE was over. While The Mami acknowledged their contribution in the women’s revolution, she said that it was time for them to step aside.

At the post-show press conference tonight, Bayley was asked if her win over IYO SKY was an answer to the Judgement Day star. The new Women’s Champion first discussed how the young star is a once in a lifetime talent:

“I think Rhea is…she is once in a lifetime. I get so jealous of her. First I have so much respect for her because she works her butt off. She does everything. You guys see Judgement Day on every single show, like 10 times throughout the night. That is not easy and sometimes not always fun. It’s very hard.

So I have all the respect for the work she does. Plus she puts on incredible matches. She’s so young, so athletic. She does one dropkick, that I can’t even….I can’t do a drop kick to someone’s knees. It’s like everything she does makes me mad.”

I’m Glad To Watch It Happen: Bayley

Bayley then mentioned a number of young female talents that are taking the work of the Horsewomen to the next stage and proclaimed that she is very happy to watch it happen:

“But I feel as the time comes for the four horsewomen to lift the division up and get better and better as we wanted to do from the beginning. I’m glad that it’s going to someone like Rhea Ripley. It’s going to somebody like Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan. You got Zoey Starks.

There is so many women that are itching to get out there. Candice LeRae is finally showing her face out there. You all the girls in NXT Roxanne Perez, Lyra [Valkyria]. This is exactly what we wanted. So if she’s ready to take it on, I’m very proud and I’m very glad to watch it happen. But let me have my damn moment, Rhea.”

Rhea Ripley defeated Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania last year and successfully took on Becky Lynch at this year’s edition of the Show of Shows. While it’s too early to predict the future, this banter turning into a match between The Mami and Bayley at WrestleMania 41 would be very poetic.

More News On Speculated WrestleMania Ending

Turns out that the WWE Universe may have to wait even longer for the rumored faction feud between WWE’s Four Horsewomen and Ronda Rousey’s MMA Horsewomen.

Despite recent reports speculating that WWE is aiming to close WrestleMania 35 with a feel-good moment for the WWE Four Horsewomen, this may no longer be the case.

Writing in a post on the Wrestling Observer Forum, Dave Meltzer divulged that this is apparently no longer the current plan for the end of ‘Mania.

“This is not happening,” he said, “well at least as not happening can be with Vince changing his mind every hour. It makes no sense with the direction they are going.”

Close The Show

With Charlotte Flair now holding the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship, the rumor speculated that Becky Lynch would defeat her rival, Ronda Rousey, for the RAW Women’s Championship.

Lynch and Flair, now each holding gold, would then be joined by their former Horsewomen stablemates and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Bayley and Sasha Banks. That is, of course, if they successfully defend them in their matchup.

In case you didn’t know, the women were colloquially known as the Four Horsewomen during their time in NXT. Since that time, Ronda Rousey and a number of her MMA friends have joined WWE’s roster. Prior to that, however, they had also adopted the Four Horsewomen name.

Both took the name in honor of legendary wrestling stable, the Four Horsemen.

What do you think? Are we on the way to a feel-good moment? With Ronda’s Horsewomen stablemates still in NXT, Is a clash between the two still a long way off?

Ronda Rousey Discusses Facing Sasha Banks At Royal Rumble, Brings Up Horsewomen Feud

If you’re excited to see “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey defend her WWE Raw Women’s Championship against “The Boss” Sasha Banks at Royal Rumble, then you’re not the only one.

Turns out that Rousey herself may be more excited about the prospect than the majority of the WWE Universe.

In a vlog uploaded over the weekend to her YouTube page, Rousey addressed facing Banks at this January’s Rumble event and even brought up the discussion of her MMA Horsewomen feuding with WWE’s Horsewomen. The video provides a unique look backstage of a WWE event, as well as the life of one of the company’s top Superstars.

“This Is My Dream Match”

“Everyone always asked me what is my dream match and I always say, ‘Sasha Banks.’ I think a lot of women have had their best match with Sasha. More people in the women’s division have had their best matches with Sasha, I think more than anyone else in my opinion. I’ve always been really excited about the potential she could really bring out of me,” Rousey admitted. “Up until this point, I didn’t think I was ready at the level where I could fully take advantage of the opportunity of being told to have a match with her.”

Regarding the matchup itself, Rousey confesses that she is “excited! Really super excited,” and that when she initially found out she “marked out super hard.”

“This is my dream match and I’m so excited. One reason why I’m really excited to have a match with Sasha is just there’s so many things that only me and her can be able to do. Very, very small and very, very durable is not a very common combination. […] There’s so many things with Sasha that I will be able to do with her because of how athletic and just knowledgeable of wrestling she is.”

“I’m really excited because I’m going to learn so much,” she said. “I’m just gonna be so much better in the ring for having absorbed everything that I can from her. We’re both faces, you don’t really get to work with each other. I’ve been able to watch her a lot and be in some tag-team matches with her and try to absorb things that way, but it’s different. You learn things different, moving around with somebody.”

Hoursewomen

“I’m excited to see what the promotion for this match is gonna be like,” Rousey said. “I would really like to bring the Four Horsewomen into the discussion because it needs to be addressed and it hasn’t been, so far. I think it’s a point of contention for all of us and everyone involved is just bursting with things to say, and I think this is finally the time to get some of it out.”

Could this be the start of this Horsewomen feud? Is that a rivalry you’d like to see?

Potential Horsewomen Feud Escalates Online

It appears an all-out faction war could be on the horizon within the WWE as tensions rise between the MMA Horsewomen and members of the WWE Horsewomen.

The back-and-forth hostilities have only further escalated as Horsewomen members voiced their opinions and insults via social media.

It all stemmed from the following Tweet by Charlotte Flair:

Even ‘The Man’, Becky Lynch, involved herself in the fray:

https://twitter.com/BeckyLynchWWE/status/1067136054669598726

Current NXT Women’s Champion, Shayna Baszler, made sure to point out that her stable are a team, not just a collection of people who are “barely friends half the time.”

Horsewomen Domination

There were plans in place at one point for an MMA Horsewomen vs WWE Horsewomen matchup. That was originally slated for this year’s Survivor Series but, as things often are with the WWE, things changed and the match didn’t happen.

That clearly hasn’t stopped the participants from planting seeds for what could take place in the future. However, whether this was planned amongst themselves or by WWE creative is uncertain at this time.

What do you think? Is this a feud you want to see? With Charlotte Flair having recently turned heel, would this set up a heel WWE Horsewomen team to face off against a babyface MMA Horsewomen quartet?

Four Horsewomen Of MMA Team Up At NXT Live Event (Photos)

We’re one step closer to a Four Horsewomen of MMA vs. Four Horsewomen of WWE match.

The Four Horsewomen of MMA are fairly new to professional wrestling. Ronda Rousey, Marina Shafir, Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler are all currently inked to WWE deals. Rousey currently reigns as RAW Women’s Champion on the main roster.

The remaining three reside on NXT, with Baszler coming off a reign as NXT Women’s Champion. Shafir and Duke are just getting their feet wet inside the ring.

WWE’s eventual goal is a Four Horsewomen of MMA vs. Four Horsewomen of WWE (Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Becky Lynch) match. That bout has been speculated for Survivor Series later this year.

Yesterday Baszler, Duke and Shafir teamed up to defeat Nikki Cross, Io Shirai and Dakota Kai in a Six-Man Tag Team match at an NXT live event. Check out some photos from the match here:

Bayley On Her Reaction To Not Being Called Up With Other Horsewomen

Former Raw Women’s Champion Bayley recently joined Edge and Christian for their E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness podcast where she discussed a variety of wrestling related topics. Below are some highlights from her interview:

Her Takeover: Brooklyn match against Sasha Banks being her ‘greatest memory’:

“That’s definitely a milestone in both of our [pro wrestling] careers. That’s one that people do ask us about it a lot and I don’t ever get tired of it. And for some reason, it still gets me emotional. Like, I can still remember every single detail about it, and every second leading up to it, and just every emotion that went into it still. That’s my greatest memory.”

On not having much time to put the match together due to Banks moving to main roster:

“I don’t think we had very much time, to be honest, because Sasha had just gotten onto the main roster, so we hadn’t really been seeing each other much and I was kind of just working at the [WWE Performance Center] and doing the NXT shows and she was, like, on tour. I believe she was on tour right before the match because the match was in August and WWE goes to Europe in November, so, like, she was gone. It was kind of hard to communicate and stuff. I think we may have talked over it once at the PC and then the day of. Like, we didn’t see each other till the day of because she also had a SummerSlam match the next night, so she was preparing for all that and she had appearances leading up to it, I had appearances leading up to it, and we didn’t really talk-talk until, like, the night of. But we both had our own ideas and we both went over stuff that one time we did get to meet.”

Her reaction to other Horsewomen getting called up to main roster prior to her:

“Well, at first, I was a little bummed out because I always thought that myself, Becky, Charlotte, and Sasha would have gone up together and kind of be, in a perfect world, we were going to be this cool faction and then takeover and whatever, change things and stuff like that, but [WWE officials] had a different plan.”

Always being seen as the weak link of the Four Horsewomen:

“I was like, ‘I’m going to prove I don’t need Sasha or Becky or Charlotte to have good matches or we don’t need them to carry the division anymore.’ Like, I wanted to prove that I can do it on my own because in my eyes, I was always kind of seen as the weaker link of the four, so I always wanted to prove to everybody, like, ‘I can do this too and I can help people, lead people, and carry the division,’ so it was a huge honor and I was so happy to be able to, like, carry the championship for that amount of time and then to pass it on to Asuka when it was time and all that. So it was a great [time]. I still think that was probably my most valuable time of my career. I just learned so much in that time.”

MMA’s ‘Four Horsewomen’ Prepare For Battle

WWE’s Women’s division has been picking up momentum in recent months.  The recent Mae Young Classic highlighted female talent from around the world, and the imminent arrival of Asuka to RAW holds the potential for a great step forward that all superstars want to be a part of.

Kurt Angle’s teasing of a Women’s Elimination Chamber match further demonstrates just how much development and progress is being planned and made within the division.

Charlotte Flair has recently made her return to the ring, challenging Natalya for her SmackDown Live title.  Along the way, Charlotte has also teamed up with Becky Lynch and shown a clear change from her previous heel stance as The Queen to become a face.  Although the change has not been as successful, this firmly enables Charlotte to be on the same team as the other former Four Horse Women.

While Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch have been able to remain in action, Bailey had to recover from a shoulder injury that was picked up during a match with Nia Jax.  Bailey has since returned and been able to compete in recent matches.

With Survivor Series looming, this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter has presented new details about The Four Horse Women of MMA undergoing extensive wrestling training, adding actions to their previous verbal challenges with WWE’s Four Horse Women.

Shayna Baszler began training at the WWE Performance Center, while Ronda Rousey has been training in California with Brian Kendrick.  Marina Shafir, fiancée of Roderick Strong, has been training in Orlando, and Jessamyn Duke has been training for the last few months at the Santino Bros Wrestling Academy in California.

It’s clear that preparations are underway for the MMA superstars to make their way to WWE, and that this match up will come together at some point, however whether this happens in time for Survivor Series, as rumours have suggested, is another question.

Opinion:

Another big question that will have a lasting impact on the women’s division is: will Rousey, Shafir, Duke, and Baszler remain in the WWE Universe beyond one in ring showdown, or whether they will be given a contract that sees them join the women’s division?  The potential problem comes from the number of available spaces in the division, with the added MMA superstars taking up four slots, will there be enough space for anyone from NXT be able to break through?  I personally believe that the next step would be to create women’s tag team champships, which has never been able to take flight previously due to numbers.

Stephanie McMahon posted the following tweet on her official Twitter account of herself backstage with Maria Menounos, UFC star Ronda Rousey and her Four Horsewomen friends (Jessmyn Duke, Marina Shafir and Shayna Baszler).

The photo in the tweet alludes to the fact that Stephanie has accepted the ALS “Ice Bucket Challenge” from Menounos, who accepted the same challenge from Vince McMahon last week.

  • Nikki Bella Turns Heel And Joins The Authority, Several Celebrities Attend SummerSlam

    – With WWE SummerSlam taking place in Los Angeles, California, several Hollywood celebrities were in attendance. Among them were Maria Menounos, Michelle Beadle, Bill Simmons, and Ronda Rousey, who was accompanied by members of her “Four Horsewomen” stable. I noticed Shayna Baszler sitting next to Rousey, but the shot of Rousey at ringside was so brief, I couldn’t tell who else was sitting with her.

    – During the Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella match at WWE SummerSlam on Sunday night in Los Angeles, Nikki Bella made the heel turn that we reported about in the past few weeks. • Ronda Rousey & The Four Horsewomen To Appear At SummerSlam?

There is at least preliminary discussions within WWE of involving The Four Horsewomen (Ronda Rousey’s MMA “faction”) at the SummerSlam pay-per-view on August 17th in Los Angeles, California.

The feeling is that since it’s in L.A., and considering Rousey’s popularity, it would be a decent publicity stunt for the show.

Rousey has claimed to have interest in doing something at WrestleMania, but the timing didn’t work out for this year. She hasn’t ruled out possibly working at a WrestleMania in the future, such as next year’s, which takes place in California.
