WWE Hall of Famer Announced for ICW Fear & Loathing XI

Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) recently announced a huge International match for their Fear & Loathing XI event. Former TNA World Champion James Storm will be taking on Grado.

An extra stipulation has now been added to the much anticipated bout. WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett will be the Special Guest referee when the two former IMPACT stars collide. Grado made some interesting comments recently on his Fear & Loathing opponent, you can check these out here.

Fear & Loathing XII will be taking place on December 2nd at the SSE Hydro. If you’re an ICW fan you know that the ‘Loathing event is ICW’s biggest in the calendar year and last year’s iteration featured Rey Mysterio, Kevin Nash and Rob Van Dam amongst the homegrown talent.

Insane Championship Wrestling has also announced that British Strong Style will be heading to ‘Fear & Loathing XII.’ This will be first time that the BSS stable has appeared as a unit in ICW. Trent Seven is a former ICW World Champion. More interesting is that Pete Dunne actually defended his WWE United Kingdom Championship in the company previously. British Strong Style are arguably the most popular stars from the thriving UK scene. All three are featured heavily on the WWE UK brands and NXT television.

ICW has also announced a huge Women’s Championship match for their Fear & Loathing XI event. Women’s Champion Viper will be facing challenger Kay Lee Ray. Both stars are considered to be amongst the World’s best and have been a featured part of the weekly WoS programme on ITV/STV.

Current WWE Star Scheduled to Wrestle for ICW

ICW has made a huge announcement for their July 29th PPV event ‘Shug’s Hoose Party 4.’ Current 205 Live/RAW Cruiserweight roster member Noam Dar will be returning to his ‘home’ promotion for the very first time since signing with WWE.

ICW has previously announced appearances with the likes of Finn Balor and Mick Foley in ‘commissioner’ type roles however the prospect of a contracted, main roster WWE talent coming back to the UK indies to wrestle is very intriguing.

An ICW show on the WWE Network has been speculated for months now and while the talk has died down somewhat this announcement could indicate that an official partnership is closer than previously thought.

ICW has an official on demand service that is available for only $6.99 per month featuring the likes of Kurt Angle, Finn Balor, Grado, Trent Seven, Wolfgang and more.

WCPW to Make American Debut on WrestleMania Weekend in Orlando

There’s a new promotion in the WrestleMania weekend indie show mix, and it’s a surprising one. WhatCulture Pro Wrestling, the new UK-based promotion, announced on Monday that it will be running a show in Orlando on the afternoon of April 1st.

That’s the day before WrestleMania 33, and if past years are any indication, WCPW will likely be running shows opposite WrestleCon, WWE Fan Axxess, Shimmer, possibly Evolve, and probably various local promotions. Announce so far are Joseph Conners, Joe Hendry, Martin Kirby, El Ligero, Grado, Primate, Drake and “Many more yet to be confirmed!” In other words, WCPW’s core wrestlers are committed but not any outside talent as of yet.

WCPW got a lot of attention for an internet pay-per-view a few weeks back that included very expensive fly-ins like Minoru Suzuki, Kurt Angle, Bret Hart as a surprise, and the commentary team of Jim Ross (during college football season, no less) and Jim Cornette (who never flies except for offers he can’t refuse). The response was mixed, in large part due to streaming issues on the WCPW side (FITE TV’s stream was unaffected).

Analysis: WrestleMania weekend is already a crowded space, to the point that this only makes sense if a lot oft he costs (staff flying in for WrestleMania weekend, the wrestlers working other shows and having promoters split the costs of flights, etc) are already taken care of in large part. Maybe this will have a unique appeal to the throng of British fans in town, but they also could decide they’d rather see different wrestling if they’re traveling abroad.
