Original Plan For Kenny Omega & Hangman Page’s AEW Tag Team Revealed

Kenny Omega and Hangman Page held the AEW tag team titles for 228 days after defeating SCU on the Jericho Cruise. There was a lot of dissension teased throughout their run, however. They eventually dropped the belts to FTR at All Out and then faced each other in the finals of a tournament at Full Gear.

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Hangman Page was expected to fully turn heel as part of this angle. The plans for this changed based on the fan response to Page, however.

Don Callis is believed to have pitched the idea of him and Omega in an angle together shortly after Page and Omega were put together as a team.

“The actual idea was suggested by Callis when Omega and Adam Page started their team and while Page was to come out as the heel at one point, that changed based on the early reaction to Page,” wrote Dave Meltzer.

He would continue to say that Page and Omega getting over as a team and the pandemic played a role in the angle being changed.

Page has wrestled just twice since the loss to Omega at Full Gear. He defeated John Silver on 11/19. He also competed in the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal at Winter is Coming.

Tony Khan Reveals AEW Full Gear Match He’s “Personally Invested In” as a Fan

AEW President Tony Khan recently appeared on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio. Khan would discuss a number of topics on the show involving the Full Gear PPV this weekend. Full Gear takes place on Saturday 7th November and is available to purchase on FITE TV (for international viewers). And B/R Live in the United States.

Tony Khan was asked on the show what match he was most looking forward to on the PPV itself. The AEW President would reveal that the match he is “personally invested” in? Kenny Omega vs Hangman Adam Page.

Tony Khan on Omega vs Page

“Probably Kenny Omega and Hangman Page” Khan began on the show. “With the build? We’ve put so much story into it, but they are also just two of the best wrestlers in the world. They’ve been one of the best tag teams in AEW.”

“They’ve gone back years” Tony Khan would continue. “[Even] before there was an AEW, or before I knew I would get into the wrestling business even! They just work together. The team of Kenny and Hangman was something new and something actually that I wanted to do for Dynamite.”

Tony Khan would then reveal why he wanted to have the team together on AEW programming. “For the early episodes [of Dynamite], to have another great team within The Elite. Because you had at the time The Young Bucks and you had Cody. and then you had Hangman and Kenny, and with Hangman and Kenny I thought, ‘you know there’s a great chance for them to have some great matches and maybe we can tell this great story down the line.'”

“The more they did together? The more I think this made sense” Khan continued. “Like everyone else? I am personally invested in Kenny versus Hangman Page. From having seen them be the greatest tag team and having worked with them? I think that as individuals they can both be the AEW Champion.”

Do you think that Kenny Omega vs Hangman Page could be best the best bout at Full Gear? Do you think that this will lead to a Kenny or Page facing Jon Moxley OR Eddie Kingston down the line? Let us know in the comments

Hangman Page Statement On Joining AEW Tournament

AEW’s Hangman Page has released an official statement. The rather official-looking document is printed on branded letterhead as well. It addresses his entry into the AEW World Champion #1 Contender tournament.

“After deep contemplation, about half a bottle of Scratch Bourbon Whiskey, and chucking a dozen watermelons at a red oak out of the back of a pickup, ‘Hangman” Adam Page has decided to enter the single-elimination tournament to decide a number one contender to the All Elite Wrestling World Championship,” his statement reads.

Page then listed off a few of his reasons for entering the tournament including:

“The tournament could provide ‘Hangman’ Adam Page with his first opportunity to challenge for the AEW World Championship since his catastrophic and embarrassing loss to Chris Jericho at All Out 2019.”

It appears Page dictated the statement to someone and this person was unable to make out some of his comments.

“As a child, ‘Hangman’ Adam Page (unintelligible – the voicemail devolved into a slurred monologue with the occasional yell, followed by two minutes of silence).”

Page then listed what he will be doing to prepare for the tournament. These included the following:

“‘Hangman’ Adam Page will continue to wear a mask while in public, wash his hands, and social distance to avoid contracting COVID-19 to preserve the integrity of his lungs and his character.”

The finals of the tournament will take place at Full Gear. Page’s full statement can be viewed in the Tweet below:

Hangman Page Comments On Being Rejected By WWE Early In His Career

Adam “Hangman” Page recently talked about having participated in a tryout for WWE early in his career. Page said he tried out for a spot in the company about 10 years ago but never heard back. According to the former AEW tag champion, he questioned whether there was a place for him in the business after.

“I mean, I guess like when you’re 18-19, you start doing that kind of stuff. You feel so close to the only thing you think matters at the time,” Page said on the WINCLY podcast.

“You think getting that job is the only thing matters and you feel so close, so your so enthused, but then nothing ever happens after you go. And then you get pretty damn depressed about it, and you sort of consider if this is the only avenue to make it in wrestling, and you show up and nothing happens, you start to wonder like, ‘can I even keep doing this? What’s the point?'”

Not long after this, Page debuted for Ring of Honor in 2011. He would wrestle part-time while working as a teacher for the next 5 years. In 2016, Page was added to the Bullet Club roster, began wrestling in NJPW in addition to ROH, and left his teaching job to pursue wrestling full-time. He signed with AEW in 2019.

Hangman Page Teases Possible Return To AEW Shows

Hangman Page hasn’t wrestled since the March 18th episode of Dynamite from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville. It was the first of AEW’s empty arena shows due to the ongoing global pandemic. On the most recent episode of “Being the Elite,” Page may have teased a potential return to AEW shows, however.

On BTE, Page has been shown living in the woods as of late but on the most recent episode, he teased it was time to go home. As he discussed going home, it could be speculated that by “home” he means returning to AEW television.

“Maybe I should go home,” Page said possibly referring to no longer living in the woods.

“Honestly, it would be ridiculous to go home right now because out here I can’t get infected, I can’t infect anyone else. I mean, we’re all in this together, right?”

“It feels irresponsible to go back to my house, I mean, even now. I’d never know if I over-reacted coming out here to live but I’d forever live with the pain of knowing I didn’t do enough and to be honest, I’ve kind of been enjoying living out here.”

Hangman Page Returning To AEW Tapings?

Then Hangman’s analogy started to become more clear.

“I used to know more but living in a house is kind of all I understand now. And maybe most selfishly, I feel like I want to go back home because I was on the run of my life in that house,” Page said possibly referring to the momentum he had in AEW.

“I nearly won the prestigious ‘Man of the House’ award in May,” Page continued as he listed off reasons to possibly return “home.”

“I teamed up with our broom to clean the house better than anyone had ever swept before,” Page continued, possibly talking about his team with Kenny Omega if not his actual domestic prowess.

“Everybody was loving it, what I was doing in the house, and it made me feel more validated than I’d ever felt in my life. I felt like maybe I was on my way back to winning the ‘Man of the House’ award.”

“It seems unfair that I’ve gotten to live out this Snow White woodland fantasy while Cynthia from Foodland has to go back to her apartment every morning,” he continued.

Page’s comments begin at the 14:45 mark of the below video:

Hangman Page Reveals He Has Written A Kids Book

All Elite Wrestling’s Hangman Page has revealed he has written a kids book. The book is entitled ‘The Elite Team: Adam and the Golden Horseshoe’ and is slated for release on Sunday, May 24th via Trism Books at $16.95.

According to the official synopsis, the book will follow Adam as he attempts to track down a legendary Golden Horseshoe:

“Adam’s faded second-hand guitar never left his side. He played it at home. He played it at school. He even slept with it. As Adam and the rest of the Elite Team practiced their talents, Adam felt overshadowed by his friends. He just wasn’t good enough… When he heard about the legend of the Golden Horseshoe, and its charm to make champions, he knew he had to find it for himself. But on his quest, Adam finds more than just the horseshoe. Will he finally find the champion within himself?”

Page shared the news on his Instagram page, announcing “i have written a book” alongside an image of the front cover. The illustrations for the book were done by Dylan Coburn.

Hangman Page isn’t the first Elite member to have written a kids book. Cody Rhodes has previously released ‘Cody Heart of the Mountain‘. Matt and Nick Jackson have also released a kids book called ‘Young Bucks Stand Tall’. The Young Bucks recently announced they will be releasing a memoir, ‘Killing The Business’.

Adam Page is scheduled to defend the AEW World Tag Team Championships with Kenny Omega at AEW Revolution. They face their Elite stablemates The Young Bucks. The event takes place on February 29th at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois.

PAC Confronts Hangman Page After All Out (Video)

Adam “Hangman” Page was defeated by Chris Jericho in the main event of last night’s All Out PPV from the Sears Center in Chicago. Following the event, Page was confronted by PAC while being interviewed backstage by media.

Footage of the confrontation was posted online by Chris Van Vliet:

“I hadn’t thought of what it would be if I didn’t win..” Page was saying as PAC interrupted.

“I’ll be honest with you Adam, it broke my little heart to see you lose tonight,” PAC said. “But unfortunate for yourself, me and you, well we have some unfinished business. So let me tell everyone, the real reason I returned to AEW: revenge.”

PAC vs Hangman Page

Page and Pac were scheduled to wrestle at Double or Nothing on May 25th, 2019. Pac was pulled from the event, however, and the two wrestled a match in Nottingham on May 18th instead, with Page winning via DQ. It’s the only time the two have wrestled each other in their careers.

After Jon Moxley was pulled from the All Out PPV, PAC was announced as Kenny Omega’s new opponent. PAC defeated Omega last night via referee’s stoppage.

Chris Jericho Thinks AEW All Out Will Be Adam Page’s “Coming Out” Party

Chris Jericho will be competing against Hangman Page during the main event of All Elite Wrestling’s next show, All Out. The two will clash to crown the inaugural AEW Champion.

Speaking with Busted Open Radio, Jericho commented on how he has helped to elevate Hangman Page to the next level.

“He looks like a million bucks, he wrestles great, his promos are getting better. How do you make him a star? Put him in the ring with Chris Jericho. How do you make him a bigger star? Put him in the ring with Jericho in a match for the first AEW Championship.”

He continued, “This is Hangman Page’s coronation. This is his coming-out party. I’m really excited about it. I’ve seen enough of him that I know, this is the type of guy that we want on our roster, and we’re gonna build him into a bigger star in one night than WWE has built any star they’ve had in six months.”

With so many established wrestlers Jericho could have feuded over the championship with, he believes that Page was the right choice over Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, or Jon Moxley in order to build more top talent for AEW.

As far as he’s concerned, this one match will see Page assert himself as a main event player going forward, turning him into more of a star in one night than his entire career to date.

Britt Baker and Hangman Page Talk AEW With Calais Campbell

AEW’s Britt Baker and Adam “Hangman” Page recently took part in an interview with JagsWire in Florida. They both opted to dawn “full gear” while sitting in Jaguars’ Defensive End Calais Campbell’s living room for the interview.

The interview covered topics such as their in-ring personas, how they got into wrestling, and more.

https://twitter.com/theAdamPage/status/1151992153934925824

Hangman Page & Britt Baker On Their Wrestling Personas

Campbell asked Page what his wrestling persona was like.

“It changes around a whole lot,” Page answered. “Sometimes I’m a good guy, sometimes I’m a bad guy. I like to think I’m always the good guy.”

When Campbell asked Baker if she was a “good guy” or “bad guy,” Baker asked him what he thought.

“You knock teeth out and put them back in, I feel like that’s grimey,” Campbell said.

“I’m pretty much a good guy but sometimes good guys have to do bad things to win,” Baker responded. “Every now and then sometimes you have to kick teeth out. I kicked a girl’s bow out on the PPV.”

Campbell then attempted to get Baker and Page to show him a few moves but a stagehand entered the scene and said they were not covered for that. The screen then cut away and when it returned the stagehand was lying unconscious on a broken table and Page looked nervous as if he had just done something he could get in trouble for.

Shawn Spears Comments On Chris Jericho vs Hangman Page

Shawn Spears will be cheering for Hangman Page at All Out later this summer when he faces Chris Jericho for the AEW World Championship. Spears took part in an interview recently with Bill Apter where he said Page has a chance to become a worldwide star with a victory over a high-profile opponent like Jericho.

“Nobody loves Chris Jericho more than Chris Jericho,” Spears said when asked who will win between Jericho and Page. “He’s going to be gunning for it more than anyone else because he still feels he has something to prove even though the guy’s resume speaks for itself.”

Spears then said he’ll be cheering for Page, however.

“I’m pulling for Hangman,” he continued. I think Hangman has a chance to make himself a worldwide global star in one match and that’s the match to do it in.”

Shawn Spears To AEW?

Spears competed in the Casino Battle Royale before Double or Nothing last month but has not signed with AEW. He also spoke to the possibility of him becoming a full-time member of the AEW roster during the interview.

“It’s pretty common knowledge that I’m good friends with an Executive Vice President,” said Spears. “I’d heard the rumblings like everybody else across the planet had heard about the beginning of something special. So when the opportunity presented itself to be a part of it, it just so happened to fall in line with my timeline, the whole 90 days – that worked out perfectly in terms of timing.”

“Once one thing ended another door opened and I dove through that door without hesitation and it turned out to be the best decision I’ve made in recent memory.”

AEW To Crown First World Champion At ALL OUT

All Elite Wrestling will crown its first World Champion at the upcoming AEW: All Out pay-per-view during Labor Day weekend. The news comes courtesy of Chris Jericho, who made the announcement Thursday morning during an appearance on Busted Open Radio. AEW has since confirmed the match.

Jericho will face “Hangman” Adam Page to crown the inaugural champion. Jericho defeated Kenny Omega at Double or Nothing to earn the title shot, while Page won the Casino Battle Royale match on the Buy In kickoff show.

AEW: All Out takes place Saturday, August 31st at Sears Centre Arena outside Chicago. This is the same venue that hosted All In last year. Tickets for All Out go on sale Friday, June 14th.

AEW has several shows coming up in the months ahead:

  • 6/29: Fyter Fest (Daytona Beach, FL)
  • 7/13: Fight for the Fallen (Jacksonville, FL)
  • 8/31: All Out (Chicago, IL)

Each of these shows will be available for streaming online via Bleacher Report Live and the other services that carried Double or Nothing. The belief is that Fyter Fest and Fight for the Fallen will be shorter in length and lower in price than All Out, which will be one of AEW’s full-fledged tentpole pay-per-views.

AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes tweeted this video of the AEW World Championship in all its glory earlier this week:

Hangman Page Wins Casino Battle Royal, Earns AEW Title Shot

Hangman Page said he wasn’t cleared to compete at Double or Nothing but it turns out that wasn’t the case. Page drew the Joker card for the Casino Battle Royale, allowing him to enter at lucky number 21.

MJF attempted to hide and then attack Page after Hangman thought he threw out his last opponent but the ruse didn’t work. Page delivered a Buckshot Lariat to Friedman and tossed him to the outside for the win. The victory not only puts Page into the record books as the winner of the first official AEW match, he also earns a title shot in the process.

On the Road to Double or Nothing earlier this week, AEW announced that the winners of the Casino Royale and Omega vs Jericho would face each other at a later date with the winner becoming the 1st ever AEW World Champion.

AEW Double or Nothing Lineup

  • Chris Jericho vs. Kenny Omega
  • Cody vs. Dustin
  • AAA Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks (Nick Jackson & Matt Jackson) vs. The Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix)

Hangman Page Announces He Won’t Be Competing At Double Or Nothing

The rivalry between Hangman Page and Pac has seen some twist and turns in the last few days and the latest development in the situation might not be a pleasing one for fans.

The Young Bucks dropped a special Thursday episode of Being The Elite titled ‘Who’s The Best Tag Team In The World’ yesterday, just 2 days ahead of Double Or Nothing .

The episode also featured a segment starring Hangman Page who revealed that he will not be allowed to compete at the upcoming event:

“Hey guys, I am checking in because apparently, it’s my responsibility to tell you that due to recent events I will not be allowed to compete at Double Or Nothing.

I am sure that none of you are as disappointed or pissed off about the entire situation than I am. But I will still be at Starrcast on Friday doing meet and greet and I am sure that the entire show in itself will be great.” (Transcription: SEScoops.com)

As Hangman explains his situation a video of Pac’s attack on him during their match in Nottingham is played which suggests that he is not medically cleared to compete at the show.

This is disappointing news for fans who were looking forward to Hangman Page’s match at the PPV and were excited to find out who will be his opponent for the event.

However, the situation with Pac has put the company on the back foot. Since AEW Officials want wins and losses to matter in their company, it’s probably the best to keep Page off the card instead of rushing him into a new rivalry.

Hangman Page Vs PAC Full Video Posted

Hangman Page vs PAC will not take place at Double or Nothing this weekend from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The match was pulled from the card due to creative differences but in storyline, it actually took place in Nottingham over the weekend. AEW posted video of the match to Youtube, which you can watch below:

PAC vs Hangman Page

PAC vs Page was scrapped from the PPV due to PAC’s role as Open the Dream Gate Champion. Dragon Gate does not want their champion losing and this is what ultimately led to AEW pulling the match.

“Essentially the deal is PAC is the Open the Dream Gate champion in Dragongate and he wasn’t going to lose and he wasn’t losing in the UK,” Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio recently. “It wasn’t so much this show and I think that’s where everyone’s all confused.”

PAC not being able to lose would create a long-term booking problem for AEW.

“(AEW) have an idea of what they want to do with their storylines and it was a long-term thing and this no longer fit,” he continued. “It wasn’t if he could do the job on this show or not, that wasn’t the issue. He wouldn’t but that wasn’t’ the issue.”

Cody Says AEW UK PPVs Are Coming, More BTE Notes

With just 5 days to go until Double or Nothing, the Young Bucks released an episode of Being the Elite today.

Cody Says AEW UK PPVs Are Coming

On this week’s BTE mailbag, Cody addressed AEW PPVs possibly coming to the UK.

“AEW UK PPV, considering the most recent events, I’d say yes and I’d say hell, we were already planning on it,” Cody said. “And of course we’re going to host an actual PPV in the United Kingdom.”

He also answered a question regarding if the weekly TV show will air on ITV.

“As far as the weekly shows, you’ll have to ask the kind folks at ITV,” Cody said before winking. “Can you tell I’m winking?”

Cody Admits BTE Was Behind Anonymous Messages To Hangman Page

Cody admitted to Hangman Page this week that he’s not too big or too skinny to be in full gear. He also said that it was the producers of BTE who sent him the “juice” and had been surveying his progress.

Cody finally revealed to Page that he never needed the “secret sauce”, Page has had the ability to beat PAC this whole time. Page then adopted full gear, drove to the airport, boarded a plane, and confronted PAC at a show in Nottingham, England. The full match between the two will be posted tomorrow at 12 PM.

Brandon Cutler Added To Battle Royal

Brandon Cutler left pro-wrestling for 7-years between 2011 and 2018. He now has a contract with AEW and will compete in the Casino Battle Royal on May 25th. In addition to being a wrestler, Cutler is the Executive Content Producer for the organization. His contract signing opened up this week’s episode of Being the Elite.

Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus Confirmed For Casino Battle Royale

In addition to Cutler, both Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus were confirmed for the Casino Battle Royale as well. Luchasaurus also confirmed he’s able to talk during the episode.

Christopher Daniels No Habla Espanol

SCU’s Christopher Daniels was in Santiago, Chile for a bit this week. He noted (in Spanish) that his Spanish is quite poor, however. As a result, he was unable to say that Santiago was the worst town he’s ever been to. He later said he’d stop taking solo bookings.

MJF Was Going To Attack Dustin Rhodes With A Samurai Sword

MJF appeared to run after Dustin Rhodes with a samurai sword in this week’s episode. Rhodes turned around and noticed, however, causing MJF to stop. MJF later denied it was him.

Hangman Page Reveals If He Considered Going To WWE

Adam ‘Hangman’ Page is one of the stars who built his brand working for various indie companies before joining the upstart promotion All Elite Wrestling.

However, during a recent appearance on State of Combat podcast, the former NJPW star claimed that WWE was also an option for him at one point and revealed why he didn’t join the promotion.

Page first revealed that he had negotiations with WWE and it was an option he heavily considered. According to him, everyone at the company was very pleasant with the talks and negotiations.

Continuing on the topic, Hangman also claimed that the company put a lot of effort in trying to hire him and they were after him more than most of the other promotions.

Though he decided not to join the company because it didn’t feel right at the time and while everyone wanted to grow up and become a WWE Star one day, it wasn’t a goal for him anymore.

Apart from this, Hangman Page also talked about choosing AEW as his new home and said that knowing that he can be fulfilled creatively and that he can contribute to bettering wrestling is more rewarding than anything else could have been.

Adam Page is currently scheduled to face former WWE Star Neville aka Pac at the upcoming Double Or Nothing event from MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 25th.

All Elite Wrestling Rally

AEW has planned another rally for February 7th from the MGM Grand Garden Arena (by the Talent Pool). Brandi Rhodes has hinted she will bring some newly signed female wrestlers to the rally.

AEW also recently signed 21-year-old Nate Coy was signed to AEW recently. The Californian based wrestler has recently gained exposure competing for promotions such as PWG and Game Changer Wrestling. He is also the son of the famous actor, Luke Perry (Beverly Hills 90210, OZ).

Cody said the following regarding AEW’s roster to the Breaking Kayfabe podcast recently:

“Roster size has been something that’s been debated,” said Cody. “I signed four guys right before we got on the phone. The entire roster will probably not be present at Double or Nothing. We’ve got our summer show in Jacksonville lined up and we’ll be debuting new faces there. I don’t want to get into a situation where we have so much that you can’t honor somebody’s skillset. We’re looking at about 30 contracted performers at the moment.”

Being The Elite (Ep. 134) Recap: “Change The Universe”

This week’s episode of Being the Elite followed several members of the AEW roster while in Jacksonville for last week’s rally. Things began with the Young Bucks welcoming Britt Baker to the new promotion.

Britt Baker Confronts The Young Bucks Over Adam Cole’s Murder

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/1084861334611730434

Britt Baker signed with All Elite Wrestling recently despite having a rocky relationship with the promotion’s executives, Matt & Nick Jackson. To open up this week’s episode, the Young Bucks welcomed her to the promotion. Baker then asked if they wanted to address the elephant in the room. She then began to confront the Bucks over the murder of her boyfriend, Adam Cole, but she was cut off by the Being the Elite intro.

Young Bucks Comment On Unknown Future In Japan

Matt & Nick Jackson commented on their future wrestling in Japan early on in this week’s episode.

“We’re hopping on a plane today flying business to Chicago,” Matt Jackson said. “Leaving Japan, possibly the last time, for a long time.”

Nick Jackson then noted it could the last time, they don’t know.

“We don’t know what the future will be for us here in this country,” Matt noted. He then said he hopes they can come back because they love Japan but they don’t know what the future is for them there.

Flying Economy Class Vs Private Jet

Matt Jackson pointed out that they’ve done plenty of blogs from the economy section of airplanes but now they are doing one from Tony Khan’s private jet. They noted that their whole families went through about 24 hours travel to get to the rally in Jacksonville.

Scorpio Sky Continues Candy Bar Gimmick

Scorpio Sky continued his storyline involving candy bars this week. He was seen drinking wine with Kazarian when he mentioned he had a case of the “Snickers”. This led to him packing a suitcase, getting on a plane, and traveling to an unnamed city with palm trees, checking into a hotel and barricading the door. Despite going to great lengths to prevent Matt Jackson from continuing the long-running gag, Matt came out of nowhere and handed Sky a Snickers chocolate bar.

All Elite Wrestling Rally Highlights

After Scorpio Sky ate a Snickers bar out of Matt Jackson’s hand, the episode showed clips from the All Elite Wrestling rally in Jacksonville last week. Nick Jackson announcing Double or Nothing in the MGM Grand Garden Arena was shown.

PAC vs Hangman Page Rivalry Continues To Build

https://twitter.com/theAdamPage/status/1082840621470179328

Hangman Page was seen taking some promotional photos for AEW. Cody then mentioned Page was looking jacked but not “PAC jacked.”.

Page could only utter “what?” before the camera cut away to highlights of their confrontation at the rally.

Joey Janela Is Not Good At Football

AEW roster member, Joey Janela, was shown on the Jacksonville Jaguars practice field. He threw a bad pass, not at all reminiscent of when Mr. Perfect threw a touchdown to himself.

Jacksonville Is The Worst Town SCU Has Ever Been In

Granted, they say this about a lot of towns but the members of SCU were not impressed with Jacksonville this week. The trio was shown on the Jacksonville Jaguars practice field as well and Christopher Daniels complained about it being humid and not being able to find a good flavor of Monster energy drink.

Cody Is Taking MJF Under His Wing

Cody told Hangman Page and the Young Bucks he’s taking MJF under his wing this week and introduced him to them. When Cody wasn’t around, however, MJF told the Bucks and Page he doesn’t plan on being their “cool friend” and said he was better than them. Once Cody came back, however, he went back to being friendly.

Reliving Chris Jericho’s Rally Appearance

Clips of Chris Jericho standing on the stage at the rally with pyro exploding all around him was shown. Parts of Jericho’s speech from the rally was also shown as well.

“It starts now and it starts forever,” Jericho said at the rally. “I’m not here to change the world, AEW is not here to change the world, we’re here to change the whole universe!”

Hangman Page Discusses If He Views AEW As Competition For WWE

All Elite Wrestling became official at the start of 2019. Since then, the company has wasted no time in capitalizing on people’s excitement, holding a fan event rally on January 8th. This was done to not only further promote All Elite Wrestling as a new promotion but also to hype their next event, Double Or Nothing.

The event rally also happened to take place mere miles away from that Tuesday’s SmackDown Live show, emanating from Jacksonville’s Veteran Memorial Arena.

The fact AEW’s rally occurred in the same area, so close to a WWE event, doesn’t suggest mere coincidence.

Speaking with members of the press once the rally concluded, Elite member, Hangman Page, was asked whether he views All Elite as competition for WWE.

“That’s not really something we’re focused on,” Page admitted. “We just want to be the absolute best as we can be. That’s all we’re really worried about.”

When asked about the AEW rally taking place in such close proximity to SmackDown, and what the companies intentions were for doing so, Page responded that “[sending a message has] never been our intention.”

“Our intention is to give the fans the best wrestling in the world, the best roster in the world and to have a company that listens to the fans and responds to the feedback,” he clarified. “I think all of our minds are set on that goal and that’s what we’re really looking forward to doing.”

It’s an exciting time in the world of pro wrestling, as new companies are born and others muster their rosters to try and provide engaging, entertaining alternatives to fans worldwide. Could AEW be the promotion that finally provides WWE with competition?

Hangman Page Comments On His Last ROH Match

Adam “Hangman” Page wrestled his last match for Ring of Honor on Saturday. After losing an ROH TV title match to Jeff Cobb at Final Battle, Page’s last show with the promotion was Saturday’s TV tapings in Philadelphia.

“I had my last ROH match this weekend. Showed up to their training school for a tryout as a scrawny 18 year old. Made a lot of good friends and memories along the way. Thanks everyone. Full speed ahead.”

Page debuted with the company in 2011 after having been trained by Johnny Valiant. He is expected to be apart of the proposed All Elite Wrestling promotion next year.

Other members of the Elite have made similar comments regarding their last ROH matches recently.

Cody Tweeted out the following:

He has also made a point of mentioning he will not be at the Madison Square Garden show this spring, even as a member of the NJPW roster.

“After two ‘supercards’ and breaking my back essentially against Kenny last year, it still can’t change the fact that people are in town for WWE.,” Cody told SI.com last week.

“ROH and NJPW sold that building out and that is massive and special and I love that they did it, but had they did it on another weekend, I’d be more likely to be featured on it,” he continued. “After 10 years with WWE doing ’Mania weekend and two more with ROH, I am leaving that weekend for the boys and girls of the WWE.”

The Young Bucks sent out the following as well:

“Leaving the territory. See you on the other side.”

Members of the Elite are believed to have participated in a multi-person tag at the ROH TV Tapings in Philadelphia on Saturday.

1. Kenny King vs Eli Isom

Before the match could even begin, Kenny King cut a promo about how Eli Isom is from the ROH Dojo. King said he doesn’t like “new school”, he likes “old school”. Then King started the match by hitting Isom on the head with a microphone.

King got the early offense in after attacking Isom before the bell. The youngster fought back and was able to get in a fair amount of offense in. King looked like he had the 3-count after a springboard blockbuster but picked his opponent’s head up before 3. Isom then got some near falls from pinning combinations but King then hit him with a fireman’s carry driver for the win. King then neglected to shake hands with Isom after.

Winner: Kenny King

2. ROH TV Title
Jeff Cobb (c) vs Adam “Hangman” Page

IMO, this was incredible. Both guys wrestled as babyfaces and the crowd was somewhat divided between them but popped for each guy’s big moves. They both unloaded their extensive offensive arsenals on each other leading to the finish. Page hit a Buckshot Lariat and went for the Right of Passage but Cobb reversed. Cobb then went for a Tour of the Islands but Page countered into a backslide for a nearfall. Page then went for the Buckshot Lariat again but Cobb countered into the Tour of the Islands. Cobb then gave him another one just for good measure and got the pin.

Winner: Jeff Cobb

3. WOH World Championship
4-Corners Elimination Match
Sumie Sakai (c) vs Madison Rayne vs Kelly Klein vs Karen Q

Kelly Klein eliminated Karen Q to start the elimination match. Klein gave her K-Power, a fireman’s carry driver not unlike what Kenny King used to beat Eli Isom earlier.

Sumie Sakai hit Smashmouth on Madison Rayne but Klein kicked the champ out of the way and got the pin on Rayne herself. It’s now down to just Klein and Sakai for the belt.

Sakai looked to have retained when she hit Smashmouth but Klein kicked out at 2. Klein got a near fall with K Power and again with a power-bomb. She would then deliver a super K Power from the turnbuckle and got the pin to win the title.

Winner and new champion: Kelly Klein

4. Jonathan Gresham vs Zack Sabre Jr.

This was the type of technical masterpiece you would expect from these two. After a match’s worth of exchanging submissions and grappling, ZSJ scored a 3 count on the octopus with a pinning-bridge combination.

ZSJ didn’t follow the code of honor after the match and Cabana talked about how arrogant he is.

Winner: Zack Sabre Jr.

5. Matt Taven vs Dalton Castle

TK O’Ryan forced the ring announcer to announce Taven as the real ROH World’s Champion. He even said the title was on the line in his match against Castle.

Castle came into this match all bandaged up. His 2018 has been about injuries, unfortunately. At one point in this match, Taven absolutely impaled himself on the guardrail from a suicide dive to the outside. TK O’Ryan broke up a pin by throwing one of the boys onto Dalton and subsequently was sent to the back. After that, Taven reversed the Bangarang and moments later hit his impaler DDT for the win.

Winner: Matt Taven

6. Marty Scurll vs Christopher Daniels

The story here is if Daniels wins he gets Scurll’s title shot he earned from winning Survival of the Fittest. Daniels needs to win or he’s gone from ROH. Joe Koff said at Final Battle last year that his contract would not be renewed in 2019, so he had a year left. The story leading up to this match for Daniels has been that he needs to earn the title shot in order to receive a new ROH contract.

The finish of the match came when Daniels hit the Angels Wings but wasn’t able to connect his hands on it because Scurll had done his finger-breaking spot earlier. Scurll was then able to kick out of the weakened finisher. He then got his knees up as Daniels attempted the Best Moonsault Ever. Daniels kicked out of Graduation but then Scurll locked in the Chicken Wing and Daniels tapped.

Daniels got a “Thank you Daniels! SCU!” chant after as his ROH career is supposedly finished.

Winner: Marty Scurll via submission

Bully Ray then hit the ring and gave Daniels a low blow. He did this likely because he is a bully. He then called out Flip Gordon.

7. I Quit Match
Flip Gordon vs Bully Ray

Gordon made his way through the Hammerstein during his entrance through the crowd just like the Sandman used to.

Bully tried to get the victory by picking up Flip’s girlfriend who was sitting in the front row and threatening to powerbomb her through a table. This caused Carey Silkin to hit Bully with a kendo stick to break stop him from doing it.

Flip almost got the submission with a crossface with a kendo stick with an American flag attached but Silas Young interfered. Colt Cabana also made a run in and then the lights went out. When the lights went back on the Sandman was standing with a beer and kendo stick! He took out Young, who had defeated him on ROH television in the build-up to this match. Flip then started repeatedly laying in kendo shots to the back of Bully Ray until he quit.

Winner: Flip Gordon

ROH World Championship
Jay Lethal (c) vs Cody

Cody wasted no time making sure he was the heel in this match. He cut a promo telling the fans if he loved them (the fans) he’d be on the Madison Square Garden show. Then he faked a knee injury.

So many things happened in this match. Lethal kicked out of the Cross Rhodes twice. Cody ducked out of a Lethal Injection by shoving Brandi in front of him. Hangman Page came out and rang the bell when Cody had Lethal in the figure-four. Page then gave the belt to Cody and ran away. The ref waved it off as Lethal had not submitted, however. That was strange.

The finish of the match came when Lethal gave Cody a series of super-kicks and then a Lethal Injection. Instead of going for the pin, however, he looked to go for the move a second time but Cody countered. Lethal then countered Cody into the figure-four leglock and Cody tapped.

Winner: Jay Lethal

After the match, Marty Scurll hit the ring and reminded Lethal he has a title match owed. NWA Champion, Nick Aldis, then came to the ring as well. He just clapped for Lethal and then walked to the back.

ROH World Tag Team Championships
Ladder War VII
SCU (Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) vs the Briscoes vs the Young Bucks

So much to call here. This was a bloody, fast-paced, brutal, and amazing main event. After spring-board cutters through tables, a staple gun, multiple ladder spots and way too much to recap, the Briscoes have won the ROH Tag Team Championships for the tenth time.

The finish of the match came moments after Nick Jackson was thrown off the ladder through a table (and took a nasty spill) and then Kazarian was knocked off the ladder as well, allowing Mark Briscoe to grab both titles and win Ladder War VII

Winners: the Briscoes (new champions)

Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Hangman Page Pay Tribute To Dynamite Kid (Video)

Earlier this week the professional wrestling community lost an absolute legend. United Kingdom professional wrestling trainer Marty Jones took to Twitter and revealed that Dynamite Kid passed away on his 60th birthday. Kid is a former WWE Junior Heavyweight and Tag Team Champion. He inspired an entire generation of talent and has often been referred to as the hero to several of today’s top stars.

At a recent New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) World Tag League 2018 event, Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Hangman Page paid tribute to Kid. Smith, who is the son of Kid’s former tag team partner, and Page recreated a spot from one of Kid’s most memorable matches. That match was Kid’s bout against Tiger Mask. A fan posted the following clip from Hangman’s Instagram story, showing the recreated spot. It also featured clips from the original bout as well.

Check it out here:

Earlier this week, Davey Boy Smith Jr. had this to say about Dynamite Kid’s passing on Twitter:

“It deeply saddens me to announce the passing of Tom Billington the “Dynamite Kid. I was really happy and glad I got to see Dynamite one last time last June in the UK. Dynamite was certainly an inspiration to myself and many others and really revolutionized”

What did you think about Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Page’s tribute to Dynamite Kid?

Hangman Page & Yujiro Takahashi Adopt Strange Team Name For World Tag League

The World Tag League is currently going on in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Hangman Page and Yujiro Takahashi are teaming together in the tournament. NJPW color-commentator, Chris Charlton, has recently revealed Page and Takahashi will be going under a strange team name for the remainder of the tournament.

“Important information: Page and Yujiro’s team name is Dick and Balls. What that name may be if it includes Ibushi as a trio is the subject of some debate.

For clarification purposes, neither Page nor Takahashi have the either of the words “Dick” or “Balls” in their names or have wrestling moves with similar sounding titles.

Is Yujiro Takahashi In The Elite?

There has been some confusion in NJPW lately as to who is in Bullet Club and who is in the Elite. Both Takahashi and Chase Owens have been booked as Elite members recently in NJPW. Neither appears to be dropping their Bullet Club affiliation as other members of the Elite have, however.

The division of wrestlers between the Elite and Bullet Club was recently addressed on “Being the Elite”.

“What’s up with Elite B*lls**t?” Takahashi asked Page on the show. “Am I supposed to be in it?”

“That’s not really up to me,” Page responded. “We kind of thought you’d be booked to be with the Tongans, to be honest. Maybe that’s why they don’t trust you completely yet.”

Hangman Page Releases Statement On Bullet Club Departure

Members of the Elite are no longer part of the Bullet Club faction. The gradual move was made official this weekend on the Chris Jericho Rock N Rager at Sea. Adam “Hangman” Page has just released a further statement on no longer being affiliated with the faction.

https://twitter.com/theAdamPage/status/1059911346240843783

“To be crystal clear, I’d like to no longer be considered a member of Bullet Club. I’m very thankful for my time with the group and all it has afforded me. I hope you all continue to support me in whatever comes next and not just for the logo printed on my shirt.”

The Elite Are No Longer Bullet Club

Page gave an interview to CBS Sports earlier this year. He said he and the other members of his faction want to continue working together.

“I think as a collective, as a group, we have been able to change wrestling,” Page said. “I think, as a group, we are really on to something, and I think we wanna continue this. It would be a real disservice to everyone who has supported us and got us to this point if we were to abandon what we’ve built.”

As of this writing, members of the Elite have yet to commit to any promotion for 2019.
