Jeff Hardy Keeps Posting Possible Frustrations With The Hardys Booking In AEW

The Hardy Boys are a part of the AEW roster, but they did not get booked for the company’s January 10th Dynamite Homecoming episode. That fact was not lost on Jeff Hardy.

Jeff Hardy’s Interesting Instagram Post

Jeff Hardy dropped a post on Instagram right before AEW Dynamite went live. While promoting the lineup for the company’s January 10th episode, Hardy also made it very clear that his team will not be on Dynamite.

The Charismatic Enigma then made a little quip about how fans can find him in the Rampage Dimension instead.  Update: Jeff Hardy went to take down his post.

We,”TheHardys”will not be appearing on this live show called #AEWDynamite. We, “TheHardys”are stuck in the dimension of,”AEWRampage”

Possible Issues Brewing With The Hardy Boys In AEW

This is the first we’ve heard that would give us any indication that the Hardy Boys aren’t happy with their spot in AEW. All things considered, they are featured and get to wrestle on television.

Then again, Jeff and Matt have made no secret about how they want another Tag Team Title run before they retire, and matches on Rampage may not be the right path to get them there.

It is also worth noting that, according to reports we’ve seen so far from Daily’s Place, The Hardy Boys were also not booked for AEW Rampage this week. They did announce a few matches already, and you may find them below.

AEW Rampage Card for January 12, 2024

  • Eddie Kingston (C) vs Wheeler Yuta – Continental Crown Championship
  • Hikaru Shida vs Queen Aminata
  • Swerve Strickland vs Matt Sydal

Update: Jeff Hardy Is At It Again

Jeff Hardy shared the AEW Collision and Battle of the Belts card on January 12th, along with an intriguing caption. This seemed to be another tongue-in-cheek post.

In the caption, he clarified that the Hardy brothers exclusively work Dynamite shows, providing insight into their absence from tonight’s lineup.

Don’t miss #AEWCollision http://tonight.It’s gonna be another amazing Saturday night of pro wrestling like it always is. We,the Hardys only work 1 show a week…….because we’re the Hardys. We prefer #AEWDynamite. The dimension of #AEWCollision was designed for punks.

The PWI 500 and the Hardys: How a magazine helped a scared kid after Sept. 11

Two weeks after the attacks on Sept. 11, a then 12-year-old Jacob Grondy was on his way to the airport – and he was scared.

Not only was this his first flight, but he was dealing with what many in the country were feeling – fear of flying due to the recent attacks. But a surreptitious introduction with a few pro wrestling passengers – thanks to the just-released Pro Wrestling Illustrated Top 500 issue – assuaged his fears.

Grondy’s flight out of the Raleigh, N.C. airport was shared by the Hardy Boys, Amy Dumas – who wrestled for the WWF at the time as Lita – and Shane Helms on board. They were four of the hottest acts in the WWF at the time and were heroes to a 12-year-old Grondy, especially after they turned what could have been a traumatic experience into one of his favorite childhood memories.

“I was honestly trying to act tough,” Grondy said. “But as we were getting closer to the airport, I was visibly scared. I wasn’t talking at all, which was extremely rare (for me) as a kid.”

On the way to the airport, his dad gave him a copy of the PWI 500 issue to read and keep his mind off the recent attacks. Growing up in North Carolina, Grondy said he was immersed in pro wrestling. As a kid he watched WCW and the WWF religiously and was excited when ECW made its TNN television debut. He’s continued to be a fan well into adulthood. He hosts a podcast called Curtain Jerkin’ on Spotify.

The issue provided a bit of a distraction, but it was who he saw in the airport that relieved his fears.

“I don’t remember anything other than getting to the terminal, sitting down and looking up – and there was Jeff Hardy,” Grondy said. “He was dressed exactly how you would see him on TV. I leapt up in excitement. My dad had a pen on him and gave it to me so I could ask to get my PWI signed.”

Jeff walked Grondy over to his brother Matt Hardy to get his autograph. Matt then said they should get him Lita’s as well. As he walked back to his dad, his dad was smiling with relief, that he wasn’t as scared as he had been when he got to the airport. As he sat back down, he was approached by Shane Helms – who had just joined the WWF after the WCW sale and was beginning his Hurricane Helms gimmick. He said Helms asked to sign the issue, then asked if he could read it on the plane.

“As I let him read it, that’s when I realized that no terrorist was going to take down this plane, Team Extreme wasn’t going to let that happen,” Grondy said.

Grondy shared this story with Jeff at a meet-and-greet a year ago.

“He thought it was pretty cool.”

Grondy and his dad were flying to the United States Grand Prix in Indianapolis. It was the final race of the Formula 1 season, and was the first international sporting event to take place after the Sept. 11 attacks.

“(I) couldn’t tell you who won the race we went to, but every year the PWI 500 comes out I look back at that moment fondly. It was definitely a childhood highlight.”

Details On The Hardys Returning At WrestleMania 33, Jeff Hurting Before The Show

The Hardy Boys didn’t arrive to the Citrus Bowl for their big WWE return at WrestleMania 33 last night until really late in the show. It was no secret that fans had been speculating on Matt and Jeff making a WrestleMania appearance but there were leaks from backstage that Matt and Jeff were at the show.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Jeff was really hurting and was really beat up going into the match after his performance at ROH SuperCard of Honor on Saturday night. The Hardys dropped the ROH Tag Team Championships to The Young Bucks in a Ladder Match that night.

The Hardys actually went to their hotel during WrestleMania and talked with people in the lobby. Jeff reportedly told some that he needed to go to his room and rest because he was hurting. While he appeared to be going to his room, The Hardys left their hotel and went to the Citrus Bowl for WrestleMania instead.

The Hardys Return To WWE, Win The RAW Tag Team Titles (Photos)

The Hardy Boys returned to WWE at tonight’s WrestleMania 33 PPV in Orlando to capture the RAW Tag Team Championships from Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson in the Fatal 4 Way Ladder Match. Sheamus & Cesaro and Enzo Amore & Big Cass were the other two teams.

Prior to the match beginning, WrestleMania hosts The New Day came out and revealed a fourth mystery team would be entering the contest. After teasing they would be that team, the Hardy Boys music hit and the Camping World Stadium erupted with the biggest pop of the night. The match saw several high spots from Matt and Jeff, who are credited with helping put ladder matches on the map.

The Hardys became 7-time WWE Tag Team Champions with the WrestleMania victory. It was Jeff Hardy’s first WWE match since 2009 and Matt’s first since 2010.

WWE posted this video of Matt and Jeff Hardy reacting backstage after their surprise return:

Hardys Lose ROH Tag Team Titles, Are They Bound for Wrestlemania?

Matt & Jeff Hardy lost the ROH Tag Team Titles after a hellacious ladder match against the Young Bucks at Saturday night’s Ring of Honor Supercard of Honor show from Lakeland, Florida.

It has been rumoured throughout the week that the Hardy’s Ring of Honor contracts would be ending just in time for Wrestlemania. Although their title loss does not indicate they will be making a surprise appearance at WrestleMania, reliable sources say their returns are imminent.

Jim Ross Blog: Hardy Boys To WWE?, Undertaker’s Retirement, Paul Heyman

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross recently updated his official blog with his thoughts and comments on a number of topics. Below are some of the highlights.

On The Hardy Boys to WWE rumors: “Interesting speculation online that the Hardy Boys might be back on the WWE radar. I have no idea if this is true or not but I don’t think it is a bad idea if they were utilized much like the Dudley’s have been lately. Jeff and Matt had a spectacular tag team run in WWE while Jeff was close to becoming a big time, singles star, as well. Jeff’s ladder match with Undertaker is still one of my most vivid broadcasting memories. The Hardy’s and the Dudley’s in a TLC match at Wrestlemania Texas would certainly be attractive to Attitude Era fans who are looking for a reason to reconnect with the brand and sample the WWE Network.”

On The Undertaker’s retirement: “Getting lots of questions as to why I don’t think that the Undertaker is ready to hang up his boots. It’s more of a gut feeling than any thing else plus some feedback from those closer to the matter than am I. If Taker is healthy, and he appears to be, and not in need of any more surgeries at this time then he seems like he could pull of a Lesnar-like schedule and make special appearances but at the same time keep his persona fresh, his body healthy and remain in the ‘special attraction’ realm. Like an other husband and father, one has to earn a living to fulfill one’s obligations and to provide for family so why not do what one’s done so well if it can be done? This is mere speculation but it’s my take on the matter and time will tell what the verdict will be. Undertaker on major cards in specific markets is good for WWE business and what’s good for WWE business is good for all talents.”

On Paul Heyman’s birthday: “I forgot to mention Happy 50th Birthday to Paul Heyman on September 11 as I was in Knoxville working but here’s a belated best wishes to one of my favorite, all tme partners in broadcasting who I’m happy that I had the ability to give his first national, TV break in WCW in Atlanta back in the day. Many fans still feel that our broadcast of Wrestlemania 17 and on the Smackdown after the 911 tragedy was our finest work.”

Hardy Boyz Win TNA Tag Titles, ‘Knockouts’ Impact Next Week

– Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy — The Hardy Boys — won a four-way Ultimate-X match to become the new TNA World Tag-Team Champions in the main event of Friday’s edition of Impact Wrestling.

– TNA’s Christy Hemme announced that next week’s edition of Impact Wrestling will be called “TKO — A Night of Knockouts.”

The following matches and segments are confirmed for the show:

Jeff Hardy On Reuniting The Hardy Boys, Not Toning Down His In-Ring Style & More

Jeff Hardy recently spoke with the folks at Ring Rust Radio for an interview.

On whether he has any thoughts of toning down his in-ring style: “It’s always how I’m gonna be till I can’t do it anymore. It’s kinda of a day by day, match by match process with me. I’m pretty sure I know what my body is capable of doing and getting away with without getting seriously injured. That’s the main thing is to avoid that big, serious injury. I feel confident in whatever I come up with in my mind that I can pull it off. I always go for it unless someone shuts me down. As long as I am able to wrestle I will always be that Jeff Hardy style people know and love until I can’t.”

On how important it was to him to know that his cage match spot garnered mainstream attention: “It doesn’t even really matter to me. Matt is more the social media guy. He is the one that wants to get it everywhere. I’m kinda stand behind the evolution of it all. I don’t even tweet that much but I will tweet a picture after a match with my face paint and say thank you Orlando or wherever I am. That’s really all I do, I’m pretty much an anti-social when it comes to that. That stuff is more along Matt’s territory where he cares about all that stuff and I really don’t care about the impact it makes on others. I just care if it was a great match and if the story is good. This Friday on Impact at 9 p.m. on Destination America it is Hardy’s revenge. You gotta tune in to check it out, I get so much revenge on him you just won’t know what to do. It’s a great match, great show, and a flawless story. TNA is doing great right now and we’re just gonna keep climbing.”

On what winning the TNA Tag Titles would mean to him: “It’s all about the collection you know? It’s something to add to the collection and naturally as a pro-wrestler you want to every title you possibly can. From the lightweight championship, tag team championship, U.S. title, Intercontinental title, world heavyweight championship which is the metaphorical brass ring to grab they say. Naturally you want to win them all to add to your collection. To look back on your career and say that you did that, that is something Matt and I haven’t done yet. We have had some killer matches in TNA with the Wolves, Team 3D, and we are going to continue to have those matches until we win those World titles. It’s inevitable that we are and I am looking forward to it.”

On whether he and Matt view their reunion as an opportunity to help restore the importance tag team wrestling: “Kind of, yeah, I would think so. I was always a believer of tag team ranks could be just as important as the world championship and singles matches. I think we could see that down the road in some company where the world tag team titles are more important than the world heavyweight title. Back in the day when we were just the Hardy Boyz before we went our solo ways, we just went out there and had the greatest matches ever. We wanted to steal the show every night and I feel that way now with Matt every time we get together and have a match. I always want to mention the Young Bucks, cause we have wrestled them several times and it is a blast getting together with those guys. We always put together killer matches and tear it up…”

On whether younger wrestlers approach him for advice: “I never view myself as a leader. I compliment people when I see something I really like and tell them that was good, keep doing what you’re doing. That’s as much as advice as you will get out of me. Matt is more that trainer to help a young star be better. If he ever opens a school I might pop in and my big claim to fame is selling and how to take a good butt whooping. I never saw myself as a leader but Matt definitely is that guy.”

On becoming the first OMEGA Champion since 2000: “It’s extremely cool. To capitalize on that like Shane Helms the Hurricane has, all the power and weight behind those shows and everything it takes to pull those off. He was hanging at my house one weekend and we watched a show where the Hardy Boyz wrestled the Briscoe Brothers. Just from beginning to end it was such a good show and all I could say was wow. It was pay-per-view worthy and it was just a match at a high school. All the way through it was built and built until the main event perfectly. Now the possibilities are endless especially now that I have this alter ego Willow. Now when I have these crazy ideas I run them by Shane and he says, “Oh wow, yeah that is cool.” It’s a new day in pro-wrestling and with Omega we can and we will pull of anything. Down the road with Jeff Hardy and Willow you are going to see some really cool, I almost want to say magic-like and special setups for some alter ego Willow stuff going on with Omega.”

On whether there a different variation or completely new type of stipulation that you think fans would want to see in TNA: “Stipulation as in match wise? There’s always room for that. I have an idea but I haven’t pushed it yet. I asked the guy in TNA that does the ring work if there was a way to spin the ring like WCW did back in the Universal days. It would spin around so I got to thinking, and I asked if he could put a ring on a thing that would spin to make it go around and around, make it go faster and slow it down. A rotating match to pull off in the future, where you start the match and at a certain time it’s going to start to rotate and go faster and faster. If you could pull off spots while the ring is rotating would be awesome in itself. Anything is possible if people are willing to attempt to pull it off and get over the fear of trying. I’m willing to try anything.”

  • Jim Ross Blog: Wrestle Kingdom 9 Broadcast Partner, Ross Report News & Notes

The following are highlights of the latest Jim Ross blog:

On The Hardy Boys On The Ross Report: “Tuesday night a new Ross Report drops at 9 pm ET with Matt and Jeff Hardy joining me on one of my favorite shows involving two of my favorite people who I’ve seen grow up before my very eyes. Expect candid conversation and some laughs as well from the two, talented North Carolina brothers.”

On Bryan Alvarez On The Ross Report: “Also Tuesday I will be talking to both Bryan Alvarez about the new version of the ‘Death of WCW’ book along with talking to Karl Anderson about the January 4, 2015 Tokyo Dome event that we will both be a part of on PPV. The show will @BryanAlvarez and @Machinegunka Karl Anderson will air in late December. If you check out the homepage of this site you can see all our podcast guests that I’ve booked through January 2015.”

On Wrestle Kingdom 9: “For all of you that are asking, I do not make the final decision on who I will be working with on January 4th in Tokyo at Wrestle Kingdom 9. Several of you have made some great suggestions on twitter @JRsBBQ. Whoever it will be will be the best person available and I don’t expect any on air “bickering” to interrupt the matches. The PPV is about the wrestlers and not about the announcing. The talents make the music and the announcers add the lyrics or that’s how I see it. I said that this might be the best, pure wrestling PPV show that I’ve ever broadcast based on what I’ve seen online in my prep work. That question will be better addressed after January 4. I have high expectations for both the in ring product and my work describing it.”

  • Eddie Edwards On Not Being On Bound For Glory, TNA/Spike TV Negotiations & More

The following are highlights of a new Ring Rust Radio interview with Eddie Edwards:

Edwards on moving to Wednesday and Spike TV negotiations: “As far as the move to Wednesday, I think it was a good idea, you know, with the NFL having the Thursday night games televised now, I thought it was a good idea because it’s a similar fan base and it’s just a smart thing to do. As far as the contract situation, you know, we have nothing to do with that so we just focus on our stuff in the ring and let that stuff handle itself; if you can’t control it, no need to worry about it.”

Edwards on working with Team 3D and The Hardys, and what he and Davey Richards have learned from the experience: “I mean, we have no choice but to learn from being in the ring with those guys. Both teams are legends and me and Davey both watched them growing up and we want to have careers like both of those guys. Being in there, you have no choice but to learn and see what true tag wrestling is and it’s just an honor to be in there with guys of that caliber.”

Edwards on whether he prefers to work tag team or singles: “Right now it’s all tag team stuff, I feel like we have something great going and I would never want to do anything to deter that. Do I look forward to singles matches? Yes, but right now the main concentration is tag wrestling.”

On disappointment that The Wolves are not scheduled for Bound For Glory: “I think as competitors we want to be on every event that they have, but I think they were just trying to play it safe due to Davey’s injury and whatnot. I know that we’re both disappointed but they gotta do what’s best for the company. Either way it’ll still be a great show.”

The most important aspect of building an entertaining match: “I think it would be trying to connect with the fans. The crowd, you have to get that emotion out of them, so that’s the main focus because if the crowd is not paying attention and they’re not emotionally involved they’re not going to care, so you have to make that connection.”

On some of the differences between American wrestling and Japanese wrestling, both in terms of style and crowd interaction: “The style is definitely more hard-hitting and more intense than one might see in the States, and the crowd, you almost have to earn their respect because they almost look at it as a pure sport over there, so they’re waiting to see what you can do and once you get them reacting to what you’re doing, you know you’re doing something right because they won’t just give it to you, you have to earn it.”

Independent wrestlers who would be a good fit in TNA: “There’s so many talented guys out there right now, the Indies is overflowing with them. It’s unfortunate because obviously everyone can’t be seen all the time, but obviously Ring of Honor has a lot of great guys, I don’t know if they’re considered Indy or not, but look at the roster for PWG. You could just pick and choose from that roster and so many of those guys would be ready to jump right into TNA.”

Would Edwards prefer to wrestle with Davey Richards in a tag team match or wrestle against him in his final match either with the company or his career: “That’s a good one, could I do them both? I don’t know, it’s a tough one, I think it’d be, depending on who our opponents are, tag wrestling.”

  • Matt Hardy Talks TNA’s Future, Hardy Boys Reuniting, Working With Team 3D

The following are highlights of a new interview with Matt Hardy:

You’re back in TNA and working a programme with Team 3D (The Dudley Boyz). What’s it like being with them again?

Its good fun! It’s like a time warp. It’s so strange. We’ve been separated and we haven’t been in the ring with those guys for about 12 years. You know as soon as we start working with them, we start having memories of old matches we had in Peoria Illinois – random cities across the world, it’s a great dose of nostalgia. I think it’s cool because we’re all at a point where we can still go pretty strong in the ring and have a great match and not disappoint the people. We don’t just get dressed up and come out as the Dudleys and the Hardy boys and play around for a couple of minutes, we can actually get out there and do an older version of ourselves and still kick ass and that’s pretty cool.

You are back to being a tag-team with Jeff after a successful career as a singles wrestler. What’s the allure of tagging again?

Every time now – especially as we get older – that I team with Jeff, it’s truly magical. We grew up as legitimate blood brothers and it’s a magical moment because our whole dream was to one day be the tag-team champions of the world and we did that multiple times. So anytime someone asks me, even if I’m embarking on the greatest singles run of my career and no-one can touch me, I would always go and work with Jeff. For me that’s as good as it gets because that’s what we always wanted to do when we were children. Few people get to live that dream and so, well anytime I can go back and team with Jeff, I’m certainly up for it and gonna love it.

What does the future hold TNA and Spike TV?

I’m really not sure. You know things came out and Spike have extended TNA and they’ll try and work it out but a part of me believes that similar to a relationship that comes through a turbulent period, it’s time to move on and look somewhere else. If the right scenario is found and they have a good TV partner, it could turn everything around for TNA. You have to wait and see and timing is everything, so we’re on Impact wrestling on Spike through the end of the year and we’ve got a few months until then and it’s going to be really interesting to see how things unfold. I think things are going to be fine here at Impact wrestling – and I don’t even have to say that because I’m not someone that’s under contract or a strict employee of the company. There’s so much speculation and conjuncture online but I think things are going to be absolutely fine here.

What does this sort of speculation do to wrestlers working for the company?

I’m at that point where I’m basically a brand in myself. At the end of the day I know that Matt Hardy is going to be OK and I know that appearing on Impact wrestling is only going to make me stronger. So I don’t need to think twice about it. For other guys it can be difficult. Younger guys, newer guys that aren’t really sure where their futures going to be, they have bills to pay they have families to feed. Speculation is also highly, exponentially accelerated by online reports now and that’s just the state of the game. Every internet journalist is going to print a story and put up what they think is a “scoop” and put their spin on it. No-one knows the true story except the people in TNA that are dealing with the TV people and that’s it!

We’ve heard some pretty great rib stories from TNA wrestlers, so give us your best one..

Oh man! There’s so many of them, even going back to the day when we were first learning about the art of the rib. Well, I first learned from probably the most famous ribber – that was Owen Hart. Even when we were first starting on TV as part time workers, Owen was always constantly up to different jokes. Probably the greatest rib I’ve ever been involved in happened at a pay-per-view event where Owen used me as one of the guys to stand guard and make sure that Vince McMahon and the office guys didn’t leave the building. He told them not to leave a specific room they were in because he told them that there was some emergency across the building. In the meantime, he rushed all of the hoardings that they bought for the set into Vince’s office and they crashed and ruined it which was pretty hilarious and also pretty gutsy on Owens part to rib the boss like that.
