A new match has been announced for the upcoming WWE Hell in a Cell PPV. Charlotte Flair will defend the SmackDown Women’s Title against Becky Lynch.
The daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair was able to beat Carmella and Lynch in a triple threat match to win the SmackDown Women’s Title at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center on the WWE Network. Not only did that title win make her a seven-time champion but it also made her the record holder for most WWE PPV wins of any female superstar. Following the match, Lynch turned heel and attacked Flair to kick off their feud.
The Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, September 16, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas at the AT&T Center and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets.
The Card

RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey vs. Alexa Bliss

A new match has been announced for the upcoming WWE Hell in a Cell PPV. Ronda Rousey will defend the RAW Women’s Title against Alexa Bliss.
Rousey was able to capture her first WWE Title when she beat Bliss for the WWE RAW Women’s Title at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view from Brooklyn, New York.
Bliss’ third reign as champion didn’t last long as she beat Nia Jax after cashing in her Money in the Bank contract at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view event in June in Rosemont, IL.
Rousey made her professional wrestling in-ring debut when teaming up with Kurt Angle to defeat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a mixed tag team match at WrestleMania 34 in April after signed made her promotional debut at the Royal Rumble event.

WWE announced on Friday that Samoa Joe will get another shot at the WWE Championship at Hell in a Cell. In a rematch from last weekend’s SummerSlam pay-per-view, Joe will challenge AJ Styles for the title on Sunday, September 16th.
The Samoan Submission Machine has been relentless in taunting Styles with personal attacks. We have seen Joe’s dark side before, but things have been escalating in recent weeks. At SummerSlam, Styles finally had enough. With his family at ringside and Joe addressing his wife and children on the microphone during their match, Styles snapped. He grabbed a chair and unleashed a furious attack on Joe, which resulted in a disqualification. On Tuesday’s SmackDown Live, Joe struck once again.
WWE’s match announcement did not make any reference to Styles vs. Joe taking place inside the Hell in a Cell cage. This is somewhat surprising, considering how intense this feud has gotten and the fact that their SummerSlam match ended in a DQ. Perhaps we’ll see a stipulation added in the coming weeks.
WWE Hell in a Cell Card
Following this latest announcement, there are now two matches confirmed for WWE Hell in a Cell:
WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe
The Miz & Maryse vs. Daniel Bryan & Brie Bella
WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, September 16th from San Antonio, Texas at the AT&T Center. The event will air live on the WWE Network and traditional pay-per-view outlets. We’ll keep you posted as more matches are announced.
The first match has been announced for the upcoming WWE Hell in a Cell PPV. As seen on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center on the USA Network, the opening segment saw The Miz and Maryse in the ring where Miz cut a promo bragging about beating Daniel Bryan at Sunday’s (August 19, 2018) WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event.
This led to Bryan walking out and calling Miz a coward. After some back and forth of words, Brie Bella hit the ring to attack Miz. This is when Bryan revealed that he was granted a mixed tag team match where he’ll team up with his wife to take on The Miz and Maryse at the upcoming Hell in a Cell PPV.
If you recall, Miz beat Bryan at SummerSlam once Maryse handed him brass knucks where he would use it once Bryan attempted an outside dive allowing him to get the win over the fan favorite superstar.
Brie has not worked a match since competing in the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event this past January.
The Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, September 16, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas at the AT&T Center and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. WWE will be announcing more matches for this show in the coming weeks.
This year’s WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view is scheduled for Sunday, September 16th from San Antonio, Texas at the AT&T Center and follows SummerSlam, which is arguably WWE’s second biggest event of the year.
The official Twitter account of the AT&T Center announced on Tuesday night (August 7, 2018) that Jeff Hardy would battle Randy Orton at this upcoming show while hyping that tickets are on sale now.

Of course, fans should always remember “card subject to change” – especially in cases like this, when the event is still a month away. If you recall, Shinsuke Nakamura beat Hardy to win the United States Title at the WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the PPG Paints Arena on the WWE Network.
Following the match, Orton made his return after being on the sidelines due to a recent surgery to have an intense staredown with Nakamura and then laying out Hardy. During a recent episode of SmackDown Live on the USA Network, the company booked a rematch between Hardy and Nakamura that saw the finish once again have Orton cost Hardy the match. Then, Orton attacked Hardy once again in devastating fashion.
Hardy is slated to challenge Nakamura for the United States Title at the upcoming SummerSlam pay-per-view event later this month.

As we’ve previously reported, San Antonio’s local ABC affiliate KSAT 12 has been advertising two big matches for the Hell In A Cell (HIAC) pay-per-view (PPV) on Sunday, September 16th from the AT&T Center.
Those matches being WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens. Of course, don’t forget the usual “card subject to change” warning, especially when the PPV is several months out.
Austin Kellerman of Pro Wrestling Sheet had previously reported on this, but backed it up with a recent image of an apparent local commercial that aired during Monday Night RAW. Again they advertised WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens.
Discussion: Do you think these matches will hold up when HIAC comes rolling around? Or will they change given that the PPV is several months out from happening?
This year’s WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view is scheduled for Sunday, September 16th from San Antonio, Texas at the AT&T Center. The show will feature Superstars from both brands and follows SummerSlam, which is arguably WWE’s second biggest event of the year.
With tickets for Hell in a Cell scheduled to go on sale this Friday, San Antonio’s local ABC affiliate KSAT 12 is advertising two big matches for the show.
According to KSAT 12, the card will feature:
WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe
Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens
Of course, fans should always remember “card subject to change” – especially in cases like this, when the event is several months away. It’s unclear exactly where KSAT got the information, as the AT&T Center website does not even have an event page for Hell in a Cell, where such matches would be listed.
Discussion: What are your thoughts on these potential matches?
WWE has posted the following videos of Superstars reacting to Sunday’s WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.
Kofi Kingston describes what it was like to helplessly watch his partners go to war with The Usos inside a brutal Hell in a Cell Match.
SmackDown Women’s Champion Natalya declares The Harts will always be better than The Flairs after her match with Charlotte Flair at WWE Hell in a Cell 2017.
The Modern Day Maharaja is fired up after successfully defending his WWE Title against Shinsuke Nakamura at WWE Hell in a Cell 2017.
AJ Styles reacts to Sami Zayn’s stunning actions during the Falls Count Anywhere Hell in a Cell Match between Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens
The main event of Sunday’s WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view saw Kevin Owens get a hard fought victory over Shane McMahon. The match saw both men brawling inside and on top of the cell, with Kevin Owens getting thrown off the side of the cage through a table at ringside and Shane McMahon jumping off the top of the demonic structure.
Just as Shane was about to deliver the death defying off-the-cage attack on Owens, who was sprawled out on the announcers table, Sami Zayn made a surprise appearance and pulled Owens out of the way, leaving Shane to crash and burn in spectacular fashion. Zayn would then pull Owens to Shane and assist him in getting the pinfall victory.
WWE.com has provide a [storyline] injury update on Shane, noting that he was taken to a ‘local medical facility’ after leaping off the cell and crashing through the announce table.
A preliminary report has determined that Shane may be dealing with multiple injuries, including neck trauma, fractured ribs and a dislocated shoulder.
WWE.com noted that none of the injuries are confirmed and Shane’s condition will be monitored in the coming days.
The Sami Zayn heel turn and alliance with longtime rival Kevin Owens should freshen up both characters as these two have not been on the same page since their short-lived friendship during Owens’ early days in NXT.
The Usos Are Once Again SmackDown Tag Team Champions
New Day versus The Usos kicked off WWE Hell in a Cell 2017. Two trombones, a cowbell, a gong and a rainbow colored kendo stick were used in the match in the first several minutes. Jimmy Uso launched out of the ring onto Big E and the two Superstars smashed into the steel structure surrounding the ring. The Usos beatdown Xavier Woods and placed a kendo stick across his throat. One of the Usos then leaped onto Woods as he was up against the structure.
The Usos isolated Big E in the ring and tried to hit him with a kendo stick. Big E hit a Belly to Belly to Jey Uso and then sent Jimmy into the ring post. Jimmy connected with a Superkick and then charged at Big E once again. Big E caught him and threw him towards the ground and then Woods slid under him and delivered a knee to Jimmy’s spine. Big E and Xavier then pinned Jey Uso to the structure by trapping him with several kendo sticks. Jey broke free quickly and connected with a Superkick to Woods. Jey then lifted Big E onto his shoulders and Jimmy jumped through the ropes and hit a Spear that drove Big E into the steel.
Jimmy and Jey hit back-to-back Splashes onto Big E into the ring and Big E somehow kicked out. The Usos then brought handcuffs into the match and trapped Woods on the ring post. They then proceeded to hit him with two kendo sticks several times. Big E then got pissed off and slammed both Jimmy and Jey into the steel cell. Jimmy and Jey regained control of the match and hit two Superkicks onto Big E. They then hit a double Splash onto Big E but Woods broke up the pinfall.
Woods was still handcuffed and Jimmy and Jey took advantage by hitting him several times with a kendo stick. The Usos then placed a steel chair across Woods’ chest and hit another double Splash for the victory.
This match was incredible. I thought it had a chance to be the best match of the night, but it wound up being one of the best matches of the year so far. Hopefully, The Usos have a long run with the titles and help build up some more teams in the SmackDown tag division.
Orton and Rusev had the tough task of following the epic tag match that kicked off Hell in a Cell. Orton controlled the match early but Rusev turned the tables after slamming Orton into the barricade outside the ring. Rusev continued the attack in the ring and stomped on Orton several times. The action spilled out of the ring again and this time Orton launched Rusev into the barricade. It barely slowed Rusev down as he quickly knocked Orton to the floor with a Clothesline. Rusev brought Orton into the ring and went for the cover but Orton kicked out at two.
Rusev tried to leap onto Orton in the corner but Randy got out of the way and Rusev went flying into the ring post. Rusev avoided the RKO but was planted with a Powerslam for a two count. Rusev went for the Accolade but Orton escaped and rolled out of the ring. Rusev followed him out there and booted Orton in the face. Back in the ring, Rusev went for a Splash off the second rope but Orton got out of the way and Rusev crashed to the canvas. Orton then planted Rusev with a DDT and geared up for an RKO. Rusev tried to reverse it into the Accolade but Orton wound up hitting the RKO for the victory.
I hope that this feud is over now. I didn’t expect much from this match and it turned out to be much better than I thought it would be. The feud still felt like a waste of time and I don’t understand what a victory over Rusev accomplishes for Orton. Rusev is one of the many Superstars that I think is undervalued in WWE.
SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan added Dillinger to the United States Championship match before WWE Hell in a Cell. AJ Styles now had to defend his title against Baron Corbin and Tye Dillinger in a Triple Threat match. Dillinger got a polite smattering of applause during his introduction before the match.
Corbin controlled the match early as the Detroit crowd chanted “where’s your briefcase?”. Corbin launched AJ Styles into the ring post and then taunted the crowd. Corbin then leveled Dillinger with a shoulder tackle and then went outside the ring to launch AJ into the barricade. Corbin controlled the next several minutes of the match by slowly picking apart both Dillinger and Styles.
AJ finally was able to battle back and connected with a flurry of punches. Styles knocked Corbin to the canvas after connecting with back-to-back Clotheslines. Styles hit a knee to Corbin’s face that knocked him to the floor outside the ring. Dillinger perched AJ up on the turnbuckle and connected with a chop across his chest. AJ escaped and slammed Tye’s head into the top turnbuckle.
Styles locked in the Calf Crusher on Dillinger in the middle of the ring. Corbin dragged Dillinger out of the ring to break the hold. AJ then leaped out of the ring and connected with a Phenomenal Forearm to Corbin. Back in the ring, Corbin planted Dillinger with a Deep Six. Corbin then connected with a Chokeslam Backbreaker to Styles for a two count. AJ battled back and hit a beautiful springboard 450 Splash onto Corbin but Dillinger broke up the pinfall. AJ then hit the Phenomenal Forarm to Dillinger and went for the cover but Corbin booted AJ out of the ring. Corbin then pinned Dillinger and became the new United States Champion.
Dillinger was added to this match to be the Superstar that took the pinfall. AJ lost his title without ever being pinned and Corbin no longer looks like a joke. I think AJ Styles belongs in the main-event picture. I thought Corbin was heading there when he won the MITB briefcase, but obviously WWE changed their minds. Corbin still has a bright future, but has been made to look like an embarrassment since the final episode of SmackDown before SummerSlam. Now that Corbin is the United States Champion, he is credible again and hopefully holds onto the title for some time.
Natalya controlled the match early and taunted the crowd. Natalya focused most of her attack on Charlotte’s knee. Charlotte eventually was able to battle back but was limping badly. Charlotte tried to climb the turnbuckle but Natalya attacked her and Powerbombed her to the canvas for a two count. Charlotte once again fought back and connected with a big boot and both Superstars fell to the canvas. Charlotte went for the Figure Four but Natalya blocked it and booted her out of the ring. Natalya then shoved Charlotte knee-first into the steel steps outside the ring.
Back in the ring, Natalya locked in the Sharpshooter. Charlotte crawled towards the corner and then rolled through and Natalya fell head-first into the bottom turnbuckle. Charlotte hobbled up the turnbuckle but Natalya rolled out of the ring and Charlotte hopped back down to the canvas. Charlotte booted Natalya in the face and then hit a Moonsault onto Natalya outside the ring. Natalya then attacked Charlotte with a chair and was disqualified. Natalya lost the match but still retained her SmackDown Women’s Championship.
I figured that this match would have a finish like this. I didn’t think that this match would be this boring and sloppy. It was easily the worst match of the night so far. Having said that, I greatly prefer ruthless heel Natalya over crazy cat lady Natalya. I’m glad that she didn’t drop the SmackDown Championship so quickly after winning at SummerSlam. Her feud with Charlotte has been lackluster so far, hopefully things pick up after what went down tonight at Hell in a Cell.
Jinder Mahal Defeated Shinsuke Nakamura Again
The crowd chanted “Nakamura!” as the bell rang to start off the match. Nakamura controlled the match early. Mahal battled back and launched Shinsuke over the barricade and into the crowd. Jinder then got back into the ring and tried to win the match via count-out. Nakamura got back into the ring in time but Mahal stomped on his back when he slid into the ring.
Mahal boringly controlled the next couple of minutes of the match until Nakamura mercifully battled back. Shinsuke connected with a series of kicks that knocked Mahal to the canvas. Nakamura took out the Singh Brothers outside the ring and then kneed Jinder on the ring apron. Shinsuke went for another knee but Mahal got out of the way and Shinsuke crashed to the floor outside the ring. Mahal Suplexed Nakamura back in the ring from the apron for a two count.
Nakamura connected with a kick to Jinder’s face off the second rope for a two count. The Singh Brothers tried to get involved in the match. One of them hopped up on the ring apron and Nakamura pushed Mahal into him. Referee Charles Robinson then kicked out the Singh Brothers from ringside. Nakamura hit the Kinshasa and went for the cover but Mahal grabbed the bottom rope. Mahal then rolled out of the ring and tried to escape through the crowd. Shinsuke chased after him and brought him back to the ring. Nakamura went for another Kinshasa but Mahal got out of the way and Nakamura hit his knee into the turnbuckle. Mahal then hit the Khallas for the pinfall victory.
It was pretty obvious that Mahal was going to retain tonight. I guess the only positive here is that he wound up winning without the help of the Singh Brothers. I can’t believe Shinsuke Nakamura was brought to the main roster to lose to Jinder Mahal twice. Jinder Mahal has not had one entertaining match since he has become WWE Champion. The misery, painful promos and boring-ass matches unfortunately will continue on SmackDown until someone finally takes the title away from Mahal.
Ziggler came down to the ring without any entrance music. Dolph controlled the match early and locked in a Sleeper Hold. Roode finally was able to break the hold by connected with a Side Slam. Ziggler then charged at Roode in the corner but Roode got out of the way and Dolph slammed into the ring post. Roode went for the Glorious DDT but Ziggler blocked it and hit a DDT of his own for a two count.
The crowd in the Little Caesars got bored and started chanting “Little Caesars” during the match. The match ended in a series of roll-ups. Ziggler tried to roll-up Roode while grabbing the tights, but Roode countered into a roll-up of his own by grabbing Dolph’s tights for the pinfall victory. Ziggler then planted Roode with a Zig Zag after the match.
I found the build up to this match to be very boring and the match sucked as well. It is looking like this feud will continue and I’m not sure why. Bobby Roode is boring as hell on the main roster so far. I know he has the talent to get over with the crowd, but he needs to be a heel.
Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens started off the match battling outside the cell. Shane slammed Owens into the barricade and then connected with a series of his ridiculous looking punches. Shane then booted the steel door into Owens’ face and the two Superstars were then locked in the structure. Owens attacked Shane inside the cell and slammed him into the steel structure several times.
Owens then raked Shane’s face across the cell and the camera cut to Shane McMahon’s kids in the front row. Shane’s kids hilariously had gigantic smiles on their faces. Shane battled back after Owens controlled the next couple minutes and connected with a DDT. Shane climbed up to the top rope and went for a Moonsault but Owens got out of the way and Shane crashed to the canvas. Owens then hit a Frog Splash off the top rope and went for the cover but Shane kicked out at two.
Owens went for a Pop-Up Powerbomb but Shane reversed it into a Triangle submission hold. Owens rolled out of the ring and Shane still had the hold locked in. Owens then lifted Shane up and Powerbombed him onto the steel steps outside the ring. Owens then brought out a table from under the ring and set it up against the structure. Owens placed Shane onto the table and went for a Cannonball off the ring apron but Shane got out of the way and Owens went through the table.
Shane then grabbed half of the shattered table and struck Owens with it a couple of times. Back in the ring, Shane placed a trash can on Owens against the turnbuckle and hit the Coast to Coast Dropkick but Owens got his foot on the bottom rope to break up the pinfall. Shane then got bolt cutters from under the ring and cut the lock on the steel door.
Owens lifted Shane in the air and slammed him crotch-first into the steel door. Owens then cleared off the announce table and placed Shane on top of it. Owens hopped up on the barricade but decided to hop down and start climbing the cell. Kevin Owens got on top of the cell and stared down at Shane on the announce table. Owens couldn’t will himself to jump onto Shane and Shane got off the table.
Shane started climbing up the cell as Owens waited at the top. Owens started punching Shane in the face. Shane connected with a punch of his own and made it to the roof of the cell. Owens and McMahon traded punches on the top of the cell. Shane connected with a Body Slam on the top of the cell. Shane followed it up with a Suplex to Owens on the roof of the cell.
Owens then hit a Senton on top of Shane. Owens followed it up with a Pop-Up Powerbomb on top of the cell. Owens tried to throw Shane off the cell but Shane blocked it. Owens tried to climb down the cell but Shane grabbed him. Shane then joined Owens on the side of the cell and slammed Owens’ face off the structure. Owens then fell through the table.
WWE’s medical staff tried to check on Owens but Shane wouldn’t let them. Shane then cleared off another announce table and placed Owens on it. Shane once again climbed up the cell and went for an Elbow Drop but Sami Zayn pulled Owens out of the way. Zayn then pulled Owens on top of Shane McMahon and the referee counted to three.
Sami Zayn is a main-eventer! I thought it was bizarre that Shane was included in this storyline, but now it all makes sense. Owens and Shane put on a great match tonight. I was holding my breath the entire time they were on top of the cell. The WWE Championship match turned out to be the worst part of the PPV. I really enjoyed tonight’s PPV and am looking forward to an episode of SmackDown for the first time in a long time to see where the Owens, Zayn and McMahon storyline goes.
Remember that Fatal 5-Way Hell in a Cell match from 2011 featuring WWE Champion John Cena vs. CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger vs. Dolph Ziggler? If not, don’t worry, the match never aired on television – but has finally seen the light of day.
Back in September 2011, John Cena captured the WWE Championship from Alberto Del Rio at that year’s Night of Champions pay-per-view. It was a short reign for Cena, who lost the title back to Del Rio just weeks later at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view in a match that also involved CM Punk.
In between those title changes, WWE held a Fatal 5-Way HIAC match after the September 26th, 2011 edition of WWE RAW. Ahead of tonight’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, WWE has uploaded the match for your viewing pleasure.
The match went all of 5 minutes and there was really not much about the match that stands out as memorable or even warranting use of the cell structure.
During Shane McMahon’s match with Kevin Owens, it is highly likely that the commentary team will say something along the lines of:, “This man has no regard for his body/family!”
WWE viewers are used to seeing Shane McMahon put everything on the line. Here is a key example from WrestleMania 32 against The Undertaker.
Sunday’s Hell in a Cell will be no exception as Shane takes on the former Face of America, Kevin Owens. In an unusual move, the match has been given the added stipulation that falls count anywhere. It is clear that something big is going to happen and it will be extremely shocking.
However Dave Meltzer has provided an explanation as to how and why Shane can pull off these risk maneuvers, giving him an unfair advantage over the full-time superstars like Kevin Owens.
Meltzer said that other wrestlers would often comment on how Shane could take a huge hit or bump and then have time off to rest and recover without making many appearances. This contrasts with full-time superstars who would be contracted to appear and possibly perform the following night or week.
‘Well, Shane’s gonna do one or two matches a year, and he’s gonna do this big bump, and he can get hurt and rest up. And he shows us all up that are trying to do big bumps, and we gotta come back the next day.’
The manner in which Dave Metlzer presented this information in TheWrestlering Observer Newsletter suggests that full-time wrestlers were annoyed by the way Shane could get away with these jaw dropping moments that create instant memories for those watching.
Opinion: I don’t think any superstars would openly criticize or comment on Shane’s apparent preferential treatment, however it will be interesting to see how extreme the match becomes and where this takes the feud with Kevin Owens. If Owens wins, SmackDown Live may need a new temporary commissioner to help Daniel Bryan run the show while Shane recovers.
WWE Hell in a Cell 2017 airs this Sunday from the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. WWE Champion Jinder Mahal defends his title against “The Artist” Shinsuke Nakamura and Shane McMahon battles Kevin Owens inside the Hell in a Cell.
Kickoff Show:
Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin vs Hype Bros
WWE really hasn’t done anything with Gable and Benjamin since making them a team. Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley haven’t been on the same page lately and that has cost them some matches. Gable and Benjamin will win this match and the Hype Bros will once again argue after the loss. Pick: Gable & Benjamin
Main Card:
Dolph Ziggler vs Bobby Roode
Ziggler has spent the past several weeks mocking various Superstars entrances. Bobby Roode finally confronted him and challenged him to a match at WWE Hell in a Cell 2017. Ziggler accepted and then on Tuesday night’s SmackDown, Dolph said that Roode was nothing more than an entrance. Roode picks up the victory on Sunday in a competitive match and proves that he is much more than a glorious entrance. Pick: Bobby Roode
Randy Orton vs Rusev
Orton defeated Rusev at SummerSlam in ten seconds. Rusev then defeated Orton on an episode of SmackDown very quickly, after Orton was distracted by Aiden English. Rusev and English celebrated the first ever “Rusev Day” a couple of weeks ago. It didn’t end well for Rusev as he was hit with an RKO out of nowhere. Orton defeated English on Tuesday night while Rusev was at ringside. Rusev gets the win with help from Aiden English on Sunday night and hopefully this boring feud comes to an end. Pick: Rusev
SmackDown Women’s Championship: Natalya (c) vs Charlotte
Natalya has gotten the better of Charlotte recently and made her tap out to the Sharpshooter on Tuesday night’s episode of SmackDown. Charlotte was distracted by Carmella hitting Becky Lynch with the MITB briefcase outside the ring and Natalya took advantage. Charlotte will eventually win the title, but I feel like this feud is going to continue after Sunday. Natalya cheats to win and holds onto her title for now. Pick: Natalya
SmackDown Tag Team Championship Hell in a Cell Match: New Day (c) vs The Usos
The Usos and New Day essentially are the entire SmackDown tag division right now. The two teams cut a promo on each other on Tuesday night. There hasn’t been a lot to this feud as of late, it is just the two best teams on SmackDown battling one more time. I think this match might wind up stealing the show and New Day will retain their titles. Pick: New Day
United States Championship: AJ Styles (c) vs Baron Corbin
Corbin has been embarrassing himself on a weekly basis since the final episode of SmackDown before SummerSlam where he lost his MITB cash in match. On Tuesday night, Corbin lost to Tye Dillinger via a roll-up. Styles then appeared on the jumbotron and said that Corbin always takes short cuts and that won’t work on Sunday. I think Corbin has been embarrassed enough and I also believe AJ Styles needs to be in the WWE Championship picture. Styles loses the title on Sunday but heads back to the main event where he belongs. Pick & New United States Champion: Baron Corbin
WWE Championship: Jinder Mahal (c) vs Shinsuke Nakamura
This entire feud has been Jinder Mahal and the Singh Brothers poking fun of Nakamura’s appearance and the way he talks. On Tuesday night, Mahal attacked Nakamura from beind and then planted him with the Khallas. Mahal defeated Nakamura at SummerSlam with the help of the Singh Brothers. I’m expecting something similar to happen on Sunday. I’d much rather see Shinsuke with the title, but I think Mahal is going to hold onto the WWE Championship for now. Pick: Jinder Mahal
Hell in a Cell Match: Kevin Owens vs Shane McMahon
Kevin Owens believes that Shane McMahon cost him his United States Championship match with AJ Styles at SummerSlam. McMahon was the special referee and Owens blamed him for the loss. Owens then got his rematch and made Baron Corbin the referee. Corbin wasn’t calling the match down the middle and SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon called him out on it. Corbin then took off the referee shirt and threw it at Shane McMahon.
Shane then made himself the referee for the match and Kevin Owens wound up losing yet again. Owens once again blamed Shane for the loss and things became personal when Owens brought up Shane’s children. Shane lost it and attacked Owens. SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan announced that Shane was suspended indefinitely. Vince McMahon then made a rare SmackDown appearance and confronted Kevin Owens. Vince stated that he didn’t suspend Shane because he attacked Owens, he suspended him because he didn’t finish the job.
This led to Sunday’s match between Owens and Shane being made. Owens then headbutted Vince McMahon and hit him with a Frog Splash. Owens has avoided Shane for a couple of weeks, but beat the hell out of him on Tuesday night. Owens Powerbombed Shane through a table in the concourse area of the Pepsi Center in Denver and then hit him with a Pop-Up Powerbomb in the ring.
Owens and Shane will definitely put on an exciting match this Sunday. It really is the only match on this card that has had an entertaining storyline leading up to the PPV. I think Vince McMahon inserting himself into this storyline and allowing Owens to beat the hell out of him says something. WWE clearly thinks a lot of Owens and wants him to be one of the top heels in the company going forward. I don’t think a loss to Shane McMahon would help that cause. It will be a back and forth match and Shane will do something crazy. However, Owens will prevail in the end and win the match. Pick: Kevin Owens
– WWE Superstar Elias took to Twitter to note that his song on tonight’s (Mon. October 2, 2017) episode of Monday Night RAW will be dedicated to commentator Michael Cole, who will be missing his only his second RAW in 20 years to attend his son’s wedding. Tom Phillips will be serving as Cole’s replacement:
– The WWE has posted the following Top 10 video ahead of Hell In A Cell, showing some of the structure’s wildest moments. Superstars in the clips include Daniel Bryan, Mankind, Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt, and many more. Check it out here:
WWE Hell in a Cell 2017 takes place this Sunday live on the wWE Network.
SmackDown General Manager Shane McMahon will step inside the cell against Kevin Owens. The New Day will put their SmackDown Tag Team Championships on the line inside the cell against The Usos.
Let’s take a look back at the 5 greatest Hell in a Cell matches of all time.
When a Hell in a Cell match comes around, the WWE Universe typically gets excited. However, there have been some astonishingly terrible Hell in a Cell matches in WWE’s history.
Hopefully we don’t have to add another one to this list after WWE Hell in a Cell 2017 next Sunday. Here are the 5 worst Hell in a Cell matches in WWE history.
Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Randy Orton on this week’s SmackDown Live to earn a championship opportunity against Jinder Mahal at Hell in a Cell.
Nakamura is getting another shot at WWE Champion Jinder Mahal after coming up short at SummerSlam.
Based on Shane McMahon’s suspension as a result of his attack on Kevin Owens, don’t be surprised if Vince McMahon announces a match between these two when he returns to TV next week on SmackDown.
WWE Hell in a Cell 2017 takes place on Sunday, October 8th from Detroit, Michigan.
Here it is, exclusive to the SEScoops Mobile App for the first 24 hours – The Solomonster’s “Sound Off Extra” review of WWE Hell in a Cell 2016. Enjoy!
– John Cena is no longer advertised for WWE Survivor Series on November 20th in Toronto. Cena is currently filming the second season of his reality series, “American Grit” on FOX and there’s been speculation he wouldn’t be at the event. He could very well be there, but the fact that WWE isn’t advertising him is worth pointing out.
– The claimed attendance for last night’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view at the TD Garden in Boston is 16,119.

Lots of back-and-forth brawling outside the ring, with both competitors throwing each other into the cage walls. The fans duel with “Let’s Go Rusev” and “Rusev Sucks” chants. Reigns throws Rusev hard into the cage then drops him with a big boot on the floor. Reigns goes to grab a table from under the ring, but Rusev stops him and throws him into the cell then follows up with a splash. Rusev, who has a cut on his arm from going into the cage wall, takes things back in the ring and keeps Reigns grounded. Reigns dodges a splash in the corner and comes back with a series of ten clotheslines and a big boot on Rusev. Rusev prepares for a Superman punch, but Rusev rolls outside. Reigns rolls out and goes for the Drive-By on Rusev, but Rusev dodges it and drops the champion with a clothesline. Rusev goes to work on Reigns at ringside, throwing him into the ring steps and the cage. Rusev throws Reigns and the steel steps into the ring, and he sets up the steel steps on a turnbuckle. Rusev goes to throw Reigns into the steps, but Reigns reverses and drops Rusev with a series of punches. The two take turns throwing each other into the cage at ringside. The crowd has been chanting for tables on-and-off for about five minutes. Rusev goes under the ring apron and grabs a table which pops the crowd, but he drops it and takes a kendo stick instead. Reigns comes out of nowhere with a dropkick, then takes the Kendo stick and tees off on Rusev. They get back in the ring but Rusev ties up Reigns in the ropes by his arms. Rusev grabs the kendo stick and hits Reigns nine times, then breaks it over his knee. Rusev taunts the crowd, and when he turns around Reigns has gotten himself free and hits the challenger with a spear. The crowd has been 50/50 until this point, but they clearly favor Rusev when he starts exchanging right hands with Reigns in the middle of the ring. Reigns ducks a big boot and hits the Superman punch for a two count. Reigns goes for another Superman punch, but Rusev blocks it with a big boot then throws Reigns into the steel steps set up on the turnbuckle for a two count. Back in the ring, Rusev gets the chain and beats down Roman with it. Rusev grabs another set of steel steps from ringside and throws them in the ring. The challenger slams Reigns’ head into the steps then hits a big boot for another two count. Rusev lays Reigns on the ring steps, grabs the chain, and locks the Accolade in on Reigns with the chain around his face. Reigns fights out and gets Rusev up on his shoulders. Reigns hits a Samoan drop ontop of the steel steps, then as Rusev is standing up, Reigns spears him off of the steps for the win.
– Kevin Owens gets interviewed backstage and cuts a promo about powerbombing Seth Rollins onto the corner of the ring apron on RAW. Owens says he’ll still be the Universal Champion when he leaves tonight, and that makes him “the man.”
– Bayley def. Dana Brooke: After some back and forth action in the opening minutes, Dana Brooke dodges a splash in the corner and goes to work on Bayley’s injured shoulder. The story of the match becomes Dana wearing down Bayley’s bad shoulder. Bayley comes back with a series of elbow strikes using her good arm, then hits a flying elbow in the crner. Bayley follows up with a vertical suplex and a corkscrew elbow off the middle rope. Bayley goes for the belly to belly suplex but Dana blocks it. Bayley attemps the belly to belly a second time, and this time she hits it for the win.
– Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon are in the back talking about how well tonight’s show is going. Chris Jericho interrupts, then accuses Foley of interrupting him. Jericho busts out the list and threatens to add foley to it, again. Jericho tells Foley to watch “it” and then advises Stephanie about who she should choose for Team RAW for Survivor Series. Jericho says that him and Kevin Owens should be leading Team RAW. Foley tells Jericho he should be more worried about if Owens will make it out of the Cell tonight in one piece, and with that — Jericho silently adds Foley to the list and walks away.
– Karl Anderson & Big Cass def. Enzo Amore & Big Cass: Enzo and Cass cut a promo on Gallows and Anderson before the match. Back in the ring, Rollins superkicks Owens, Owens returns with a superkick of his own, Rollins hits an enziguri, then Owens hits a lariat and both men are down. Owens and Rollins start fighting on the apron and Rollins hits a brainbuster on the apron. Rollins hits two suicide dives on Owens to the outside. Owens grabs a fire extinguisher from under the ring, hits Rollins with it then sprays it in the referee’s face. The outside referee opens the door to let the injured referee out. The crowd pops huge and the camera turns around to show us that Y2J is running down the ramp. Jericho runs in the cage and locks the door behind him, with the not-injured referee inside. Rollins lays out Owens in the commotion, then bumps Jericho off the apron into the cage wall. After some brawling in the ring, Rollins hits a big springboard knee to the head of Owens off the top rope. Rollins goes fr the Pedigree on Owens but Jericho interferes, so Rollins hits one on Jericho instead. Rollins turns around to a superkick from Owens. Jericho and Owens celebrate in the cage as Rollins lays on the mat.
– As Kevin Owens walks to the back, Jericho returns to the Cell. Rollins is being helped to his feet in the ring when Jericho rolls in and hits a Codebreaker on Rollins. Jericho gets in Rollins’ face and talks trash to him, then walks up the ramp and hugs Owens before they go behind the curtain.

TJ Perkins: After some back and forth chain wrestling and pin attempts in the opening minutes, Cruiserweight Champion Perkins hits a springboard moonsault on Kendrick and starts pummeling on him. The referee calls for medics and they come out and put a neck brace on Sasha at ringside. It’s announced that Sasha is unable to compete and Charlotte is awarded the Women’s Championship. Sasha comes off the stretcher and fights off some referees. The referee decides that the match will happen after all, and Sasha hits the ring. – With Hell in a Cell just days away, WWE has still not decided which match will close the show. Over the weekend, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon tweeted overthat all 3 cage matches will be part of a “triple main event” – a sign that RAW General Manager Mick Foley might not deliver on his retracted announcement that Sasha Banks and Charlotte’s HIAC match will be the true main event. According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, the RAW Women’s Championship cage match will either open the show or close the show. There’s some concern behind the scenes that the crowd will either be flat or even leave the building after the women’s match, a sign that they probably should go on last.

Join us here this Sunday for our WWE Hell in a Cell Results & Live Coverage.
“Hell in a Cell” has always been my favorite WWE PPV. I’m not sure whether it’s because I have a fondness for matches that take place in a cell, al la one of the most iconic matches of all time, Mankind vs. Undertaker, or because the event takes place around my favorite holiday. This year, however, will be treasured for a new reason—the first EVER women’s Hell in a Cell match.
The WWE has had many historic eras—The Golden Age, The Attitude Era, and now, it’s the era of outstanding women. Bob Dylan said it best—“The Times They Are a-Changin!” We are smack-dab in the middle of the “Women’s Revolution.” Who would have thought even a few years ago that women would be main-eventing PPVS, let alone having matches inside of cold, hard steel?… and there’s no two women in the WWE right now more fit for the title match than current Raw Women’s Champion, Sasha Banks, and former champ, Charlotte. We’ve been lucky enough to witness these two superstars have A+ matches against each other and other notable competitors, such as Becky Lynch and Bayley, since their days in NXT, and they have not disappointed us since making their debut on the main roster last year. They have proven themselves along with the other women time and time again that they’re no longer “Divas…” they’re “Superstars.”
I feel that a match of this nature has been a long time coming. Charlotte and Sasha are now both two-time Raw Women’s Champions. We’ve seen them compete for the belt on numerous PPVs, and recently had the opportunity to watch Sasha once again win the title during the main event of Raw. Long gone are the days of lingerie and pillow fights. These women compete with every ounce of blood, sweat, and tears that they possess… and it shows! Sasha and Charlotte have had such a compelling story to follow, which instantly makes viewers drawn to them. They’ve both shared so much of their lives in and out of the ring that it makes us feel completely invested in their journeys. We WANT to see who will be victorious and who will walk down the ramp in tears from a well-fought battle.
In only a few days time we will see if Sasha Banks retains, or if we will have a three-time Champion. We know that this match is considered one of the three main events of the evening, but it’s still unknown if it will be the final match of the evening. At this point, I’m also not entirely sure who will be triumphant, but I’m confident that it will be a historic match featuring two of the greatest superstars of this generation… and you can bank on that!
