Ricky Starks will make his debut for House of Glory Wrestling next January, amid his ongoing hiatus from AEW programming. Starks will compete at the Watch The Throne show on January 17, where he’ll challenge Mike Santana for the HOG World Championship. Santana has held the gold since December 1, 2023, when he ended the reign of the self-professed ‘Indy God’ Matt Cardona.
? C H I C A G O ?
In an absolute blockbuster main event, HOG World Heavyweight Champion @Santana_Proud will defend his title against the debuting “Absolute” @starkmanjones , Friday, January 17th in Chicago!!!
Starks’ impending arrival in AEW comes amid his hiatus from AEW as the former World Tag Team Champion hasn’t been used on TV since March. Starks has speculations about why he’s not being used but has yet to be told by AEW management why the company is not using him.
Not only is Starks not competing in AEW, but he was recently pulled from a GCW event, and all future events for the promotion. It has been reported that a comment by Effy, Starks’ planned opponent for the night, resulted in Tony Khan cutting Starks from all GCW plans. GCW owner Brett Lauderdale only learned that Starks had been pulled at the same time fans learned of the situation on social media. Instead of Starks, Effy will face Matt Cardona at the Highest In The Room 3 event on December 14.
Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Ricky Starks, as fans wait to see what’s next for him, and when, if ever, he next competes in an AEW ring.
House of Glory Wrestling is coming to Chicago this September for what will be the promotion’s first-ever event in the Windy City.
On Twitter, the official House of Glory Wrestling account announced that their debut event in Chicago will take place on September 5, from the Logan Square Auditorium. Tickets for the show will go on sale on Friday, July 12, at 10 AM local time.
? BREAKING ?
CHICAGO HERE WE COME ??
HOG is going Big Time as we make our Chicago debut, Thursday, September 5th in the Logan Square Auditorium!!!
— House Of Glory Wrestling (@HOGwrestling) July 5, 2024
This will be the latest event to be held at the historic Logan Square Auditorium on North Kedzie Blvd. Freelance Wrestling, which operates in and around the Illinois area, has hosted several events in the venue. In November 2018, All American Wrestling, which operates out of Berwyn, Illinois, hosted its Unstoppable event from the venue.
At this time, no names have been announced for House of Glory Wrestling’s debut event in the Windy City. With that said, fans can expect top champions including HOG World Champion Mike Santana, Cruiserweight Champion Gringo Loco, and the longest-reigning HOG Women’s Champion Violette.
WWE’s dominant Bloodline was represented at House of Glory’s Reckoning event thanks to a member of the Anoa’i wrestling family working the show.
In the fourth match of the night, Lance Anoa’i challenged HOG Crown Jewel Champion Carlos Ramirez. Lance was introduced as “representing the Bloodline” and got many chants and gestures for it. Anoa’i also did moves connected to his family who are dominating on WWE SmackDown. Despite this, Ramirez hit a coast-to-coast headbutt followed by a pump handle driver to retain his title.
House of Glory Reckoning also saw several names from TNA Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling appear on the card. From AEW, fans in attendance saw Danhausen, Penta El Zero Miedo, and reigning HOG Heavyweight Champion Mike Santana on the card. TNA was represented by The Rascalz, Alex Shelley, and the new TNA X-Division Champion Mustafa Ali.
